12. 3:47exciting and then I think I think there's going to be a parallel shift back to analog and in person and actual
13. 4:02reality I think the value of authenticity goes up did you know that the Miriam Webster word of the year for 2023 was
14. 4:12authenticity wonder why that could [Music]
15. 4:28be [Music] yeah you know things like Pottery Cory Sandler sitting playing in the mud I think the value of that goes up in this
16. 4:43crazy New World we're about to enter and and it's not it's not either or and there's going to be entirely new forms of Art and expression
17. 4:57and actually something just hit me me huh I've been talking about I the the era the the era that I think we're entering so I
18. 5:10just I just got published in this book called AI Futures and Anthology and I have the the the chap my chapter is
19. 5:21called the Great Renaissance approaches and what just hit me is that there's the phrase you know you know
20. 5:31being a renaissance man or a Renaissance woman being a multi-passionate someone who can express in multiple forms and what just hit me
21. 5:45was in the renaissance renaissance to be a renaissance man or a Renaissance woman you had to be you had
22. 5:52to gain skills at all these different things and that was was a that was a very rare occurrence and I think why what we're
23. 6:06entering why I think it's going to be the great Renaissance is that people having multiple skills at a very high level is going to be
24. 6:19commonplace that's kind of cool huh that just hit me it's like you know are you you a renaissance man do you want to
25. 6:32be are you a multi-passionate are are you multi-passionate but but you know mono um monot talented guess what you just leveled
26. 6:45up so seriously Kyle ever [Laughter] sleep no I just you know I do sleep and what I what I
27. 7:02do like how I manage this stuff is I just I just block it out I like one of the one of the one of the things that I think is
28. 7:13just all too often not true is I don't have time the phrase I don't have time I mean I think there are rare
29. 7:23occasions where you are so busy in all of the hours of all of the day that you actually don't have time and then I think there's the other
30. 7:3195% where I don't have time means I haven't committed the time and so exponential multip potential ISM
31. 7:41that's a good one lunatick there there's an article there's an article and and there I I think there is this thing
32. 7:48about um yeah exponential M multi potential ISM it's it's it's it's a goodhead word it it' be you know you
33. 7:56could wrap a whole article around it and and I think that's a big change I think that's a huge change we're exiting the world of The
34. 8:08Specialist and entering the world of the the multi multiex expressive [ __ ] revenge of the

38. 8:47there's an AI in the middle of the word renaissance so the great Renaissance is the great Renaissance you capitalize those two letters
39. 9:01that's what we're entering that's what we're entering H pretty exciting pretty good I had an idea I don't know what you
40. 9:12want to do tonight so the way this works is if you really want to do it you'll find the time yeah exactly steo that's
41. 9:19that's the the the old I don't have time excuse most of the time is I I haven't committed to it well what do you mean I'm really busy
42. 9:29and I need to sleep and I need to get my rest yeah how much TV do you watch if you watch any I also I saw a cool Tik Tok today
43. 9:42sky was saying if you put in 18 minutes a day on something for a year it gives you about a 100 hours on
44. 9:55that thing so so if you want to get good at juggling or guitar playing or or I don't know dog Whispering if you put in 18 minutes a
45. 10:05day at the end of a year you'll be better at that thing than 95% of the people on the planet so think about how much time the
46. 10:18Irregulars have been putting in here we've been do like I would say on average this channel it's we're probably
47. 10:26averaging 2 and 1/2 hours a night and there's a thank you very much Megan there's a fair amount of people that
48. 10:32show up here every [ __ ] night including including myself so so we're we're well above we are well above the 100 hours Mark a lot
49. 10:46of us because I know a lot of you are putting in time significantly Beyond this channel this Channel's just like
50. 10:53your you know your sleeping pill thank you Ron every everyone I encouraged gpt2 today was negative sad yeah so so energy pocr off
51. 11:07t-shirts I don't know what the [ __ ] your name means although I assume it means you're selling stuff um
52. 11:19the the experience of just saying just just showing someone gpts and expecting them to dig it is increasingly I'm hearing people
53. 11:29are negative to it I I think the I think the only path to get someone to really be able to see what AI is about is to
54. 11:38hear hear what they have to say about what why they don't like it or why they're afraid of it or why they're
55. 11:45angry at it and really have that conversation first and really take them in it's it's one of the reasons that the one of the
56. 11:53values in the AI Salon is empathy is that I think that there just there's a lot of fear and there's as as 2024 gets more and more
57. 12:04weird that that gap between people that are into it and people that aren't is going to get bigger cuz it's going to
58. 12:11seem farther and farther away it's going to seem scarier and scarier so so I I I think we all have to work on our empathy skills
59. 12:24to just listen just listen yeah I can see why you'd be scared of that oh yeah yeah I'd be pissed off too that makes perfect
60. 12:34sense huh do you know how they work no I could tell you I mean doesn't matter if like if you don't want to talk about it that's cool too
61. 12:44but they don't copy and paste what do you mean they don't copy and paste they're stealing people's artwork well it's not really how it
62. 12:55works we are are we capitalizing on those two letters are we capitalizing those two letters in in uh the great Renaissance I did here look
63. 13:11so so this is this is the book that um that Cindy Coon's publishing company just put out um that I have a piece in and there's my mug here

66. 13:58missing the early days of the PC Revolution um just catching the early days of the worldwide web and what a surreal trip that was and

74. 15:10cool so I know she was popping in here but anyway really really cool um so what I figured we'd do tonight is we can go one of two
75. 15:22directions we haven't done a deep dive into oh wait I lost my dual camera we haven't done a deep dive into
76. 15:30um into chat GPT in a while and so we could just sort of start at chat GPT 3.5 and work our way out um or I was also thinking it might
77. 15:40be interesting to have chat GPT write us a um a whole bunch of prompts for like 10 images and then and
78. 15:52then you know find a couple that we like and then take the best prompt and generate images across a whole a bunch
79. 16:02of different tools and and maybe even then take those images that we generate across tools and take them to a bunch of
80. 16:09video tools and make videos so we can go either way or we can do whatever we can I don't really give a [ __ ] we can do
81. 16:14whatever you want to do can lay people really do anything with AI though it seems more of a science tool a shoe no
82. 16:22no no no no please please yes yes lay people can do things with AI That's what this whole Channel's about no the so
83. 16:32just time out time out the I think that's one of the big fears is that only scientists can do something with
84. 16:41AI I would argue that scientists are going to be the ones that build the foundational models and build a lot of
85. 16:47the infrastructure that we'll be able to use but what chat GPT represents is real people just using words can make applications can make
86. 17:00images can make music can make movies can do data analysis so absolutely absolutely the lay person can use AI like 1,00% that's what this
87. 17:13channel is about that's what the AI salon's about you can be super geeky and be part of the AI Salon but you don't have to be

94. 18:29and people were going to need community and they were going to need to figure it out poll is live all right what's the

105. 20:08that but an image Deep dive is interesting well we can you know what we can do is we can play with gpts
106. 20:14and and dig a little bit into chat GPT and then maybe we can flip over and do some image stuff so anyway um if you are curious about Ai and
107. 20:27especially if you're one of those people that's really curious about it and no one in your life gives a [ __ ] or worse
108. 20:32yet they're like could you please shut up about AI I don't care about your stupid AI get out of my face if you
109. 20:41experience that conversation more than once a week um this is the group for you um and what I want you to
110. 20:49do is um is come here read read about the salon read about what we're up to why we started it um and and then what
111. 20:58our values are things like curiosity and generosity like like people in this community are sharing what they're
112. 21:05learning in real time yay to both okay great um that's a really important value of this community exploration is one you
113. 21:14know we want people that are adventurous not people that are just scared and on the sidelines right we want people to
114. 21:19step off the sidelines onto the field congratulation to the San Francisco 49ers who are heading to the Super Bowl at as our Taylor Swift's
115. 21:31team so congratulations to to the football team and and the side hobby of Taylor [Laughter]
116. 21:46Swift oh man um collaboration is also one of our values inclusion is one of our values because everyone's coming
117. 21:54from everywhere everyone's being impacted by this AI stuff so everyone's going to be impacted and then empathy that was what we were talking
118. 22:01about earlier that that really I I think that a an increasingly important part of the conversation in the salon right now is how are people
119. 22:16doing how are you dealing with this like even the people that are super excited about this and have leaned way in and
120. 22:23are doing all the stuff are also kind of like holy [ __ ] this is intense there's a lot there's a lot even if what is
121. 22:30happening to you is really good like you're becoming a multi-passionate and you've got all these new skills how do you assimilate that if if
122. 22:39for your entire life you said I do this one thing and now all of a sudden you can do 10 things and you're digging
123. 22:46it how do how do you process that right so I I think I think understanding that people are going through some [ __ ] good
124. 22:54and bad with this is is actually really critical and then if you dig what we're up to Great come join us and the first
125. 23:02place I want you to go is introduce yourself go to the introduce yourself section and do that and embrace our value of
126. 23:16generosity and like tell us who you are tell us what you do tell us what your background is where are you with AI are
127. 23:23you a complete newbie which is totally cool you will not be judged here or maybe you've been doing this for 15
128. 23:29years and you're all cynical and bitter because you've been at it for 15 years and all of a sudden everyone's like oh
129. 23:34AI is so cool you're like yeah I was saying that 15 years ago my buddy Richard Boyd's been in it for like 20 years he's a little pissed
130. 23:43off he's like yeah yeah this is what I've been talking about for two [Laughter] decades but what's different is chat GPT
131. 23:55chat GPT changed everything all I see is AI is going to impact so much and Ubi won't be afforded because
132. 24:06we'll need some major shift yeah ASU I I wouldn't I wouldn't let that stop you right there there's going to be a lot of
133. 24:17change it's it's going to come quick but there's also the inertia of business is is is big and profound right so the
134. 24:28inertia of big companies mean that things aren't going to change overnight what it means is anyone who is AI
135. 24:34literate in the next 18 months is going to have massive opportunity and that's what we can control right
136. 24:41now right unless you're in government and drafting up Ubi proposals that's out of our control if you are in that great go do
137. 24:51that but in the meantime get AI illiterate don't let it stop you this is amazing but overwhelming that every week
138. 24:57Everything Changes Cosmic lover I yes I like I'm glad I'm I I'm glad I've put the discipline of showing up here every
139. 25:14night in my life because it's it's a lot it's a lot and and 2024 hasn't really started yet in terms of the AI progress
140. 25:29stuff I canceled my Netflix and subscribed to chat GPT Pro no regrets so much better Peter that is so [ __ ]
141. 25:38cool so much better value awesome that so so what Peter just said there you know this is the you know I don't have
142. 25:46time for AI well cancel your Netflix subscription and put that money towards towards uh towards chat jpt yeah I would
143. 25:55agree I would argue Peter best best in investment you could make that 20 bucks for chat GPT plus is the best deal in
144. 26:03software it's the best investment anyone can make right now in my opinion I'm a software engineer at General Electric
145. 26:10Aerospace oh that's super cool James I what one of the things that fascinates me about people who've been
146. 26:16you know deep in the Science World for a long long time because listen ai's been around for [ __ ] ever right what's
147. 26:24different is generative Ai and what's really different is the simple interface right the the the thing that chat GPT
148. 26:32revealed to the to the world once again uh that is important is interface and if you do something really simple that people can
149. 26:41access it makes big things different I'm always always curious for people who've been deep in the Science World for a
150. 26:47long time like how different is it like how different has this last year been because of generative AI versus
151. 26:58whatever you've been working on that's fascinating so anyway yeah I would love love to hear what you're up to Mr it I
152. 27:05canceled my Direct TV this is awesome we're [ __ ] taking down we're taking down broadcast TV one one user at a time
153. 27:13here that's [ __ ] awesome oh man is that the Discord this is actually um we switched from Discord to Mighty networks
154. 27:23and so think of Mighty networks as a web-based Discord kind of somewhere between disc and Facebook is mighty
155. 27:29networks um so there's similar to Discord there's a bunch of different channels down the left hand side grouped into what I think what are
156. 27:38called uh collections so like the community collection there's a water cooler chat there's a showand tell
157. 27:44Channel which becomes kind of a jam session during these lives oh that's really cool jack of all trades master of the all who did
158. 27:56this oh oh a human being that's that's [ __ ] brilliant that's it this is this is where we're headed that's that's so
159. 28:04good that's so good jack of all trades master of them all that's so good this is this is what starts in 2024 holy [ __ ] that's so
160. 28:22cool the irony is that the age of AI is coming to us through a Dos interface yeah well that's going to change Todd if
161. 28:29you looked at the Gemini Ultra demo even though that was sort of [ __ ] on for you know they fake faked a lot of the video
162. 28:36stuff the interface for Gemini Ultra at least one of the interfaces is like a big Infinite Canvas where you can just
163. 28:43drop a bunch of objects on them and then interact with those objects so I think we very very very very quickly go from
164. 28:52um a dos-like interface into much more intuitive interfaces can you say a bit more about the community platform change from
165. 29:02Discord please absolutely so um so there's there's a couple of things about Discord that we didn't like um one
166. 29:13is if you're not coming from The Gaming Community a lot of people don't know Discord it's it's a it's an okay
167. 29:26community platform but it doesn't have things like threaded discussions so one of the real Great frustrations of
168. 29:34Discord is that someone would go in and they'd post you know like a really important post and there was no R way to
169. 29:42effectively pin it I know discords added some stuff but the interface for their threaded conversations was is shitty um
170. 29:50the other thing about Discord here let me let me well I'll just leave it like this um the other thing about Discord is
171. 29:57is it's got a legacy of anonymity and one of the things that we wanted to do with the AI Salon is have people meet
172. 30:06one another have people get to know one another the the authentic connection that this isn't about the tools and the
173. 30:13technology this is about the people and what the people are doing with it and how the people are affected and how the
174. 30:18people are expressing themselves a salon right a salon is where people get together and exchange ideas not not not
175. 30:27not one where they get their hair and nails done and and exchange ideas but but more like the you know the 19th
176. 30:34century idea of the salon right curated conversations around um whatever the topic of the day was um you know bring in interesting
177. 30:48speakers and and tea up topics and have those conversation so so that's what the salon is so part of it was about
178. 30:54accessibility part of it was about trans transparency and and human connection and then there's just some some uh it's it's web based Mighty
179. 31:03networks is web based the the problem with Mighty networks is that it it is expensive and and one of the options
180. 31:12that we had is do we go to a membership fee um to support the salon and and we we decided we didn't want to do that we
181. 31:20wanted to make it as accessible as possible so we're basically just covering that through sponsorships and
182. 31:26through donation and things like that I thought it was the saloon that's great there's there's if you go through Show
183. 31:33and Tell there's actually a lot of images of people that make the AI Saloon so so you're you're not wrong oh that's great oh this is really
184. 31:44good who did this Mr it I'm an artist Abracadabra that's great oh that's really sweet we are regulars that's very
185. 31:52sweet the neighborhood of AI very nice the great Renaissance yeah baby that's what's coming that is what's
186. 32:05coming so this is the this is the the uh the show and tell channel uh and then there's also a news channel there's an
187. 32:15AI tools and resources channel so this is what we'll go through when we start digging into chat gbt tonight um this
188. 32:22list is so I sort of really unpack here's all the stuff I think you should learn in chat GPT it's a lot and then um
189. 32:30and then there's lots of different other large language models there's image generation tools there's video
190. 32:36generation tools music and audio 3D and then people to follow so so this list is one that if you're just getting up to
191. 32:44speed that's in here and then the other thing that the salon has is guilds and the guilds are really starting to take on some
192. 32:51momentum so people who are leaders in the community who who've you know stepped up and said hey I've got a
193. 32:57particular passion are the ones leading the guilds so these are subcommunities within within the community around
194. 33:04Education and healthc Care and video and uh the p p runs the AI mechanics Guild if you want to geek out on on the
195. 33:12technology side of things there's a business Guild a writing Guild an Art Guild and even a a 101 Guild if you're
196. 33:18just getting started um or or not only if you're just getting started but if you want to help people learn about AI that's part of Peter
197. 33:28kaminsky's passion in AI 101 is he wants people to come in to learn but then as they learn stuff he wants them to then teach
198. 33:38help how do we help support the AI Salon oh thank you Megan um you can DM me um we're going to so we set up a mechanis
199. 33:49this it's a real pain in the ass right now we set up a mechanism with stripe and then when we did our first sort of
200. 33:56batch of hey do you want to support the salon stripe said you're doing crowdfunding and I'm like no we've got a
201. 34:02community and it's not crowdfunding and they said well we disagree and so they canceled our account so I've got to
202. 34:07figure out another mechanism to do that so if anyone has any ideas on that let me know I might I might just end up

216. 35:5624 hours 15050 of them this community made super cool anyway but thank you for the input on that yeah it's not it's not perfect but

242. 40:53GPT that you can call a GPT inside of chat GPT it anyway it doesn't [ __ ] matter because there's probably people
243. 41:02here going I don't even know what a GPT is what's chat GPT who are you what are you saying what are these words ready
244. 41:09fire aim that's my motto exactly Source camp we now have the tools to be able to ready ready fire aim because it used to
245. 41:19be if you ready fired aim and you made a mistake that you would have to invest two months into you know putting the
246. 41:26thing in the world and now you can put two hours into putting the thing in the world and if it ends up not being the
247. 41:31right thing [ __ ] it flush it down the toilet and put another thing out there what's the new feature so the new feature
