29. 7:41authentic selves that are are left of center. [Music] And sometimes in an attempt to seem more businessy,
30. 7:57we try to gloss over that [Music] and everyone can see through it. So, what the [ __ ] are we hiding from?
31. 8:14[Music] Sometimes I'll see someone during the day and they'll have seen me on LinkedIn the night before and they're
32. 8:28like, "Ah, that that lie. I saw you on that live last night. That's a little weird. It's a little weird. A little
33. 8:35cussy. Little cussy. You sure you want to put your brand out there like that?" And uh yeah, I do.

35. 9:10is one of the first things I did with AI was automations. I did Zapier automations. Cams and black bar. Oh yeah, cams
36. 9:23is I did Zapier automations and I and I very quickly got bored with Zapier automations. And what hit me today is why
37. 9:34they're not bad. Like people that are into automation and efficiency and things like that, they're [ __ ] awesome.
38. 9:42But like when N8N came out and everyone was talking about, oh, N8N's better than Zapier, it's better than make. And then
39. 9:48they're like, it's a little hard, but you know, it's better. I didn't learn it at all. And what struck me today is
40. 10:00I didn't learn about all that automation stuff because I don't give a [ __ ] The thing that lights me on fire, the
41. 10:10reason I have this channel, the stories that I tell of people from this community who've reinvented themselves,
42. 10:19what do they all have in common? Self-exression. Like my passion for new technology, my passion for what AI makes possible
43. 10:37is the ability for us as humans to be fully self-expressed, which reminded me
44. 10:51how fully self-expressed I have not been being. And you're like, "But Kyle, you're on here all the time. How could you be any
45. 11:00more self-expressed? What are you going to go 247?" It's not really about that. It's like if you know, you know. It's like
46. 11:15what I what I recognized in talking with Cindy today, Tik Tok question. Heard of Pommel? No, I haven't.
47. 11:23I don't know what it is. I'll I'll get back to that. I'm a sailor in the land of cuss. What are you going to do? What are you going
48. 11:31to do about it? Oh, prompt orchestration markup language. I I assume that pommel is a fancier version of JSON. So, um, again, I'm
49. 11:46I think structured prompting is fine. I also think that nonstructured prompting is fine. I think I like there's a lot of
50. 11:56different ways that you can I mean it's called a large language model, right? Chat GPT is a large language model
51. 12:05and you can come at language in a lot of ways. There are there are people that study Shakespeare that analyze every syllable
52. 12:15of every line and look for every missing chunk of amic pentameter. And there are people that understand
53. 12:28the words on the page and just say them. And neither of them are wrong. And it's the same way with with large language
54. 12:35models. So if POML's like a a more successful version of of JSON prompting, then great. Sounds cool. Um anyway, back to the self-expression
55. 12:47thing. I think I think to some degree like where I've been hiding is in like just really declaring what I
56. 13:02give a [ __ ] about. I mean, sure, I'm passionate about AI, but what about AI? And it's the self-expression piece. It's
57. 13:11the fact that people can get ideas out of their head and bring them to life. And that to me is [ __ ] everything. It's life
58. 13:28and I haven't been doing it. And so I'll give you a specific example. If you're like, well, you know what what
59. 13:42would be different? I'll give you a specific example. Every night for five nights a week, I generate one and a half to two hours of content.
60. 13:55Over the past two and a half years, I've put about 1,500 hours of YouTube videos, you know, in the form of archives of
61. 14:07these lives out there, plus AI salon meetings, plus AI readiness podcast. What have I done with that content?
62. 14:23Nothing. I've ignored it. Lord Digital Gods, bless his heart, takes it upon himself to make sure that all those YouTube videos have a
63. 14:33description and chapters. So, like, they're all discoverable. If you go to the YouTube channel for the AI Learning
64. 14:39Lab, there's [ __ ] 1,500 hours of stuff. You want to go find out what we were talking about in, you know, spring of 2023, it's there.
65. 14:50You can search it. I've never gone back and taken one of those videos and, you know, put it into an AI video processor and chopped out
66. 15:03cool little sound bites and shared them. Why is that? I don't know. For me, there's something about having the AI learning lab channel as
67. 15:16this thing I just talk into that in a weird kind of way I can not take responsibility for. I was just
68. 15:27I just said it. I just said it. But if I go back and look at it and actually analyze it and say, "What was good about
69. 15:34that? What was good about what was bad about it? Hey, here's a thing I said that I think's really good. Then I actually have to own that.
70. 15:43And that's the thing I've been avoiding. And that's [ __ ] stupid. It's stupid.
71. 16:00I have good things to say. I've changed people's lives. And yet, for some weird reason, I feel this urge to sit in the shadows of this thing
72. 16:13I've created that I I somehow think is separate from me. It's not separate from me, but in my mind, it is in this
73. 16:21[ __ ] crazy straw of a brain. And so, I don't own the [ __ ] I don't own my stuff. That's what I'm going to start working

75. 16:52So is self-expression. Um, so there's there's something that I want to do tonight that something's been
76. 17:06bugging me that I want to I want to do something about. So, it used to be when I would do these these here lives, we had a much more
77. 17:20direct connection to the AI salon. And I've kind of lost that. And so, here's what I'd like you to do. If you're a

140. 28:43something. But, uh how are they trying to eat their lunch the most? What did you see today? felt like it was in the hood.
141. 28:49>> So, uh, they've been working on the Pixel series, uh, which is their version of the iPhone for nine years now. And
142. 28:57this was their 10th generation. They made a big deal. They had a bunch of celebrities. It was a big upscaled event
143. 29:03from where it typically is for a Pixel launch event. Curiously, you can't buy any of this hardware until October, but
144. 29:10because Apple's event is in September, they're doing the pre-launch in August. >> They wanted to preempt it. Yeah, that's
145. 29:16really funny. Okay. Yeah, that makes sense. >> And so they they listed seven new hardware devices out today. So
146. 29:23everything from phones, including a photo a foldable phone, uh to a new generation of their watch, which has end
147. 29:32of pulse detection. So if your heart stops in the middle of the night, your watch can call 911 for you. Um which is really cool.

152. 30:08of the things that Google has kind of become known for is they release all of this new flagship hardware, uh, and all
153. 30:16these new software updates with the hardware. >> Uhhuh. >> And then if you're like me and you're on Pixel 9, if you wait till like, I don't
154. 30:24know, November, um, suddenly you get most of what the Pixel 10 has, right? And so, but if you're new to the Pixel
155. 30:31line, it's it's best-in-class camera. it it continues to have the best-in-class camera. And what they've started doing
156. 30:39now is they've started to incorporate generative AI into Google Photos. We saw this last year with generative
157. 30:46background fill and magic edit where you could reimagine the subject of your picture. Now they've taken it a step
158. 30:52further with VO built in and they can do things with photo to video. So you take a photo from your photo reel and you've
159. 31:00got two options. You can do subtle movement or you can do the famous I'm feeling lucky button. So, here is a uh a picture of my uh dog.
160. 31:12Uh that's your screen. Let me I'm going to take your screen down for just a second so I can bring mine up. And um
161. 31:21we are going to see my dog. Uh so I gave it a reference image. This was the reference image I gave it of my dog and
162. 31:33I just said, "I'm feeling lucky." And this is what I got in response. Um, a fun little uh image of my dog wearing

164. 31:51Google Gemini would have corrected me, but so I I think we're starting to see with Google's approach is that they're
165. 31:58taking what they can do with large language models and AI and baking it into the products that they already have
166. 32:07in their toolkit and they're introducing AI in a way that doesn't feel like we're shoving Gemini down your throat.
167. 32:14>> They are shoving Gemini down your throat in a lot of different ways. um but this is not one of them. And so I thought
168. 32:20that was a really cool uh nice little subtle way to inject AI into one of their already popular products.
169. 32:29>> Mh. The other thing that they did absolutely took the stage, blew my mind and felt like next generation tech and
170. 32:38might be the reason that some people drop Apple for Google Pixel line and that is real time translation uh on device. So they're not sending
171. 32:49anything into the cloud. Everything's happening on your device which I I called yesterday. I said they're going
172. 32:54to release some sort of ondevice processing for AI. >> Yeah. But what this is doing is for phone calls uh it is introducing a
173. 33:04concept of you're on the phone with somebody who doesn't speak your language. You can turn on the translation and have it real time
174. 33:13translate. Um so it takes whatever you're saying in English and translates it to whatever language that the other
175. 33:19person speaks. The key thing here is it's going to clone your voice and match your inflection and tonality. So, they
176. 33:26did a really cool demo uh with Jimmy Fallon up on stage and I've got it uh queued up here if we want to take a minute and watch it. >> Cool.

219. 41:34Alan. So, so many many years ago when I was the chief creative officer of agency.com, which was an agency that I founded in the mid 90s,
220. 41:46there was a bit of a kurfuffle with our account people and our project managers who were feeling a little as as
221. 41:55as the as the Jenzers would say today, they were feeling a little triggered and and the finance people were in there
222. 42:03too. They were feeling a little triggered because what had kind of happened was our creative group was taking a lot of um Oh, those are
223. 42:14fascinating. Our creative group was taking a lot of credit for being the creative people in the company and what
224. 42:25it kind of implied that no one else was creative. And and one of the things that struck me when that when that rift came up
225. 42:35is that what the what the creative team had done was they collapsed two different things that are actually very distinct things.
226. 42:48There's the creative product which the creative team is responsible for, right? They're making the images. They're
227. 42:55making the website designs. They're making if we're doing videos, they're making audio choices. They're doing
228. 43:00writing. That's the creative product. But the thing that they were collapsing into it was creative process. So even as
229. 43:09a as an accountant, you can be creatively self-expressed with accounting. You don't want to get too creative with the

240. 45:09you create as you speak. And what are actors? They're speakers. What are writers? They're speakers. What
241. 45:16are liberal arts people? They're people that play in language, that play in philosophy, that play in ideas, that
242. 45:22play in the why. The why of what we do, not just the what of what we do. And so what what's striking me is that is that
243. 45:32the people that are going to be most powerful with AI moving forward are the people that are good with language. Um
244. 45:40it doesn't mean that having skills in other areas isn't valuable. It is. But people that are fasile with being able
245. 45:48to just think broadly about society, about culture, about empathy are just going to be very fasile with these tools. And so that that was
246. 45:59something that that struck me today that I I I this is the the area that I want to start being fully self-expressed in for me
247. 46:09personally, right? Not not hide from that, not run from that. um not pretend that it's that all AI is is you know
248. 46:22is is is used in the same kind of way that that thinking about AI as a tool for self-expression is what I'm all about. So um
249. 46:40because I get math doesn't make me unempathetic. No, it doesn't. And I would encourage you to you, you know, to
250. 46:47the extent that you can be um an ambassador, a bridge to that community, that would be great. Um and it does, listen, it also doesn't mean
251. 46:58you don't have to be empathetic. You don't have to be good with language to be good at AI. You can be you can
252. 47:04approach it from a completely um you know, code and math and structured language kind of place. I'm not saying
253. 47:12one is better than the other. I'm saying where where I'm coming from, this idea of creative self-expression is what it's

266. 49:46not to tell that story anymore. Um, and I think COVID was was a really interesting moment in in in global
267. 50:01shared narrative. The global shared narrative was when you work, you leave your house and you go to a building and you stay there for eight
268. 50:12hours and you take a little break here and there and then you go back to your house. That was the narrative that we shared globally
269. 50:20that overnight like literally overnight we decided to tell a different story. You don't have to leave your house to work.
270. 50:32And it was surreal and it was weird and nobody thought it would work, you know. So wild stories is wild. Wild wild.

407. 1:16:59kinds of sales like high-end consultative sales where the trust of the human being is more important than
408. 1:17:06what they say. So it depends on the kind of sales you're talking about. But it's going to be more and more rare that

492. 1:30:08an active place to begin with was there was a there was a lot of back and forth between this channel and the salon. And
493. 1:30:14I think I just want to start pushing that again. And I also want to start part of why what I was talking about
494. 1:30:20about putting myself out there more is talking more about about the things I do. Like I wanna I want to grow this
495. 1:30:28channel, the AI learning lab. Um I want to grow the viewership of this live. Like we have a lot of fun here, but
496. 1:30:37I want to get different people in here and and including you, but new people on a regular basis. And the only way to do
497. 1:30:43that is to sort of get the word out and be active in a bunch of different places. So that's that's part of where

508. 1:32:58models got real. I think 2026 is going to be when large language models got good enough that they actually start
509. 1:33:04disrupting work. Depending on which um which news article you read, um AI is already disrupting work, but I think
510. 1:33:132026 is where we really start to see it happening in in bigger numbers. And and so what that means is now's the time to
511. 1:33:20get connected in community and start to build those relationships because we're going to have to get entrepreneurial and
512. 1:33:28and do things like that if if we get disrupted. And so um the more the marrier is the way I think about it.
