52. 14:02janky um and then we went to YouTube live and it was decent um and then i' done I've used streamyard I used it for I had a podcast
53. 14:14called you should have been there where I was talking about the early days of the worldwide web and uh we were
54. 14:21interviewing a bunch of the early players so my my uh the guy that was my CTO a guy named retesh Patel and I did
55. 14:27that show and like we interviewed my co-founder of agency.com And We R interviewed the founders of razorfish
56. 14:35and you know the creators of online magic which we ended up merging with during agency.com days and and just all sorts of cool

114. 26:04though Coffey by the way particularly with AI um there's a lot of emotion about it right people are afraid of it people are
115. 26:14angry at it people think it's stealing people think it's plagiarism schools are saying you can't use it as cheating um you know we we
116. 26:24have the the world's most powerful in the history of human ity the the most powerful knowledge tool we've ever created in the
117. 26:34education world is saying wow can't have that which is staggering to me but anyway understanding that people are
118. 26:43scared and and maybe intimidated and think that they have to get a [ __ ] math degree from Stanford to be able to
119. 26:49do AI which you don't by the way um the salon is an organization where it's a community where people won't judge you
120. 26:58you if you come in and you're scared or you're angry or this or that it tends to be a group that that seeks to understand
121. 27:03first um it's also a group that's very brave willing to just try stuff like oh there's a new thing out let's go try it
122. 27:10um and then on top of that it's it's a community that's generous right so not only are they learning amazing [ __ ]
123. 27:18they're willing to tell you how they did it why they did it what they learned what works what doesn't oh there's
124. 27:22another site that does this and oh you should jump into Peter's you know Peter kaminsky's little group down here
125. 27:28because he'll he'll teach you all that stuff with mid Journey you wanted to learn um it's just an amazing group

134. 28:36sort of [ __ ] and then you can chat about the tools if you're trying to figure out how to do stuff you need some help so

173. 35:21and I'm you know decently geeky and I can talk about this stuff there's no one right now no no one zero
174. 35:29people including people that work like open Ai and the people building these tools there are zero people right now
175. 35:37that are expert on how we use these tools in our lives in our jobs you know in our businesses because they're changing so
176. 35:47fast they're evolving so fast that it's essentially impossible to keep up so the person that was the [ __ ] Pro prompt
177. 35:55Master of the century three weeks weeks ago all of a sudden um 01 preview comes out and it's a reasoning engine and you
178. 36:03prompt that in a very different way it's a very different tool you know yesterday um anthropic introduces uh computer use which is a
179. 36:14horrible name for the product these these tech companies got to get their naming like I'm telling you man you
180. 36:20wanna you want to make some money start a branding company and just focus on like the top 10 AI companies and say
181. 36:27here I'll help you with your naming strategy just give me $100,000 a year and we won't do [ __ ] like call the new
182. 36:33version of Claude 3.5 Sonet Claude 3.5 Sonet really really that's what you're going with you couldn't do 3.6 3.5.1

192. 38:23to do some programming I haven't set up an environment yet so I can't show it to you right now um but what's cool is what
193. 38:30I have seen is there's people hooking it up to repet and then I saw one guy that that hooked it up so what it is what
194. 38:38computer use is is Claude released what's what's really the first commercial autonomous agent that Claude through this API can look at your
195. 38:51computer screen it can click on [ __ ] and it can input [ __ ] and so there've been all sort sorts of cool things so one of the cool things
196. 38:59I saw was the guy set up the environment and then he pointed he pointed the thing at Claude at the Claude website and had
197. 39:10the agent tell Claude to write a program and get it up and running so he had it doing this sort of circular dance which
198. 39:18was kind of cool there was another cool thing I saw where it was reading job descriptions and then applying for them
199. 39:25based based on you know the guy that set it up so there's some cool things there but right now it's it's kind of the
200. 39:31first one out and and it's only in the developer playground it will likely show up to the to the Claude front end you
201. 39:39know relatively shortly uh so anyway yeah great um and we'll maybe I'll go play with some Claud stuff um 01 is a poser remember

217. 42:17at here is their new more modern interface where the the chat box is in the middle of the screen kind of like
218. 42:24Google and they've simplified these things um to be more reflective of the actual features that sit underneath chat
219. 42:32GPT that are hard to discover so there's actually a bunch of things here but you can analyze images a lot of people don't
220. 42:38know you can upload an image and have it look at it um you can uh analyze data you can upload a uh CSV file and it does
221. 42:47remarkable data analysis so anyway so that's all slick but if you hit command plus to zoom in on the screen it actually goes back to
222. 42:56its old old um it's old interface so you know chat box on the bottom just for what they call conversation starters so anyway that's
223. 43:07just a curiosity which kind of cool though I'm sure at some point they'll fix that and we won't be able to go back
224. 43:11but you know here's history here's modern um okay the models oops there are six of them them
225. 43:28now from what I understand we're not going to have to worry about this too much longer oh you know what let me turn off that
226. 43:35comment just because it's in the way and I'm sure you're bitching at me over there okay I see him on X what's
227. 43:42streamyard don't see it in the app star streamyard forever hooked is a uh web-based streaming platform um so we'll we'll I'll

230. 44:16ability um for chat GPT to dynamically choose the appropriate model so we actually won't have to choose which one
231. 44:23we use but right now there's kind of three major U models there's there's like little mini variations like you've got GPT 40 and
232. 44:34then you've got GPT 40 mini so these two are essentially the same except mini is not quite as good and it's a lot faster
233. 44:42right it's also cheaper for them to run so they you know they want you to use it but like of of all these models the the
234. 44:4840 mini is the one you can probably ignore unless 40 is just being too slow for you and then go go use Mini GPT 40
235. 44:58with canvas is really really good if you've not played with 40 with canvas it basically creates an editable document
236. 45:06I'll I'll demo it here in a second it creates an editable document um where you can do all your chat gping live
237. 45:13within the document so if if you have it write you an article and you don't like the title you can just highlight the
238. 45:18title and say this sucks make it better and it will um it's pretty slick 01 preview and 01 mini these are the reasoning engines um the
239. 45:27metaphorically the way I've been thinking about these is GPT 40 is like your Toyota Corolla that you drive to
240. 45:34the grocery store and you know the 01 preview is kind of like a GT3 you know racing car that is not street legal and
241. 45:45you got to take to the track now 01 preview right now is from open ai's standpoint um embarrassingly bad
242. 45:59enough that mirror moradi quit the company because she didn't think it was ready to show people some version of that Sam wanted
243. 46:09it out there miror Marat didn't Sam won I think he gave the team um nine days was it nine days I think so nine days um to do

258. 49:00model that model is actually still really valuable that's the 1.8 trillion parameter mixture of experts model
259. 49:07that's got 10 um 180 billion parameter models that are all specialized on different things so when you prompt this
260. 49:15one it actually figures out which of those 10 expert models to use and then it kind of amalgamates the answers for
261. 49:22you so if you're not getting the results you want up here go back and use that one um the other thing that they've added
262. 49:29here is you can flip chat GPT into temporary chat mode um I think it just uses um uh GPT 40 oh no you can actually you
263. 49:41can you can actually use all the models here but you're in temporary mode so anything you do in temporary chat mode

273. 51:28of the things that you can do is you can focus it right so you could just say um discover and watch videos you could umh
274. 51:36search discussions and opinions on social channels you could search academic white papers you could search
275. 51:43Wikipedia although they got rid of Wikipedia so I guess you can't do that now it used to be you could do that
276. 51:53um and then you can also upload files you can images text and PDFs and and use that as inputs but um for research
277. 52:02perplexity is really good let's just say um I'd like to understand um the history of the
278. 52:17face cards in modern card decks and then so notice what it does is it gives
279. 52:33itself a couple of little stages right it says research the history of face cards in modern decks summarize the
280. 52:41findings and then within each of these here's what it searched um it searched the history of face cards and the origin
281. 52:49of face cards and then here are the the sources right and there's nine more so here's all the different sources that it
282. 52:56served to give you the first part of this answer and then summarize the findings wrapping up Gathering sufficient information and then it
283. 53:04writes your answer what's cool is so let's see history of face cards is a fascinating journey through cultural

406. 1:14:56design so when I bought this it was 200 bucks which is cheap for a new piece of Hardware um I thought even if it sucks
407. 1:15:06it's going to look really good on my shelf I had a Newton I had the original Newton I had the original Palm Pilot
408. 1:15:15I've got the original rabbit R1 um and it's it's pretty slick but it's it's it's
409. 1:15:31not it's not going to replace my phone so I don't there's not really a reason to have it or to use it as a daily
410. 1:15:41driver I have a Nikon F1 paper weight I've got I've probably got a bunch of stuff up here that stuff I could have I could have
411. 1:15:51done there's there's so many projects there's so much to do all right this is a lot of
412. 1:16:08effort I'm thrilled that I went the trampoline instead of the rabbit that's good I like that I wonder how much the V various
413. 1:16:18corpuses how much of the various corpuses from the Far East and the global South you mean you mean in terms
414. 1:16:26of the the the data that these things have been trained on um I would imagine that certainly with the video models coming out of
415. 1:16:37China that those things probably have been trained on a lot of Chinese data um so I think I think the Far East is prob
416. 1:16:46probably represented there I would say in general the corpuses are going to reflect what was put on the internet for
417. 1:16:53the past 30 or 40 years which probably skews to North America and it probably skews to men right so part of the reason
418. 1:17:01we have bias in the models is what they were trained on um the good news is that the Frontier Model companies are aware
419. 1:17:09of the biases and aware that you know there needs to be balance in the trading data and now that it it appears that
420. 1:17:16open AI has shifted from Gathering data to generating synthes synthesized data so so using a big large language model
421. 1:17:26like GPT 4 to generate synthetic data to train GPT 5 that's a new thing that they're working on um and so so I think
422. 1:17:36that the the bias should get much more balanced um Ju Just that particular piece of the bias where where it's unweighted because of you
423. 1:17:48know data misrepresentation I assume that's going to get a lot better but we'll see I don't know I do not know I
424. 1:17:55don't work for those companies so one of the things to know about this channel is that my focus so so let me
425. 1:18:03give you a little bit of a little bit of uh background on me um I'm old now I know you can't tell because the internet
426. 1:18:13the the camera takes off 30 years and I I look like a 28y old little Buck I know but I'm old so so so I moved to New York City out of out
427. 1:18:29of school where hang on I can't this is hard to put on when your camera's backwards people okay I am all [ __ ] up well
428. 1:18:44fairly obvious um I moved to New York City out of school um where I studied acting um pursued a life in the Arts um
429. 1:18:53started and ran a theat company wrote a bunch of screenplays and then in the mid90s when I stumbled upon this thing
430. 1:19:00called the worldwide web I'm like oh this is a thing this is going to be a thing this is going to be a big
431. 1:19:05thing um and I ended up starting one of the first online magazines and I co-founded a company called agency.com
432. 1:19:12which was one of the very ear early digital web agencies so we designed a lot of the first websites for the
433. 1:19:18Fortune 500 and we grew really fast it was absolutely [ __ ] insane but what was remark able about that was I got to
434. 1:19:29be like a player at the beginning of a thing that ultimately changed the world dramatically right where AI is right now is very very
435. 1:19:41similar to where the worldwide web was in like 1995 96 a lot of people are talking about oh AI is overhyped and
436. 1:19:49it's this is like the dot bubble we're not even [ __ ] close to the dot bubble metap orally speaking we're still very early in this AI
437. 1:19:59stuff what so so there's a couple of things what the worldwide web did for the internet was that it made it accessible to non developers and
438. 1:20:12researchers and academics so the internet had been around for decades and Tim burner Lee comes up with the the
439. 1:20:20worldwide web the hypertext transfer protocol and the worldwide web and the idea the browser and it makes the internet go
440. 1:20:28from command line geeky command line where you had to you had to know IP addresses and you had to know you know
441. 1:20:36gopher commands and FTP commands and it was awful if I mean if you love command line boy did you love the internet back
442. 1:20:47then and the worldwide web made it accessible to the other 90% of the population of the world right it's a
443. 1:20:55worldwide web and now everyone can just do this to to navigate information no matter where it is in the world um November 30th
444. 1:21:102022 is essentially the birth of this channel now that that was the birth of chat GPT but when I experien chat GPT I've
445. 1:21:19been playing with stable diffusion and dream booth and and some of the gpt3 stuff in the in the open AI
446. 1:21:26playground when chat GPT launched I had my first Kevin McAllister moment so if you haven't had a Kevin McAllister moment it's
447. 1:21:36this it's like that that moment when you use AI were like it can do that and I had one of those moments in the early
448. 1:21:44days of the web where I published an online magazine and three weeks later it was written about in a Parisian
449. 1:21:49newspaper and I realized holy [ __ ] the world's just changed and I didn't think I would get to experience another one of these major
450. 1:22:01technological births in my lifetime and then I played with chat GPT and I was like holy [ __ ] here's another one and my my first Kevin
451. 1:22:10McCallister moment with chat GPD well the well the first one was a Min a mini Kevin McCallister moment where from the
452. 1:22:17minute I started typing with chat GPT the thing that popped in my head was holy [ __ ] the Turing test has been solved
453. 1:22:25like this felt like I'm chatting with an entity that feels like what I saw in science fiction movies and then the real
454. 1:22:32mindblower the one that just like shook me to the core that I got chills from was I asked it to write me some python code and it
455. 1:22:43did and then I realized I don't know how to run Python and so rather than just being humiliated and having to call up a
456. 1:22:51friend you know dial a buddy uh how do you run python I'm an idiot I just asked chat GPT and it said oh you launch
457. 1:22:59terminal and you type in this command line and I was like I don't want to type in a command line can I just see it on
458. 1:23:03the web can I just copy and paste code on the web I said sure here's repet go do that within 90 minutes I had written
459. 1:23:12a functional python application that was making API calls to open Ai and generating content from user input like marketing
460. 1:23:22content within 9 minutes I've never written a line of python in my life so that was the moment I realized
461. 1:23:31holy [ __ ] the world's just changed so this channel is about AI from that moment forward like if you're into AI for the
462. 1:23:42for the math and the weights and the Laten space and all the [ __ ] it does all the [ __ ] it makes possible Transformers
463. 1:23:49and cool what I'm interested in is now that the other 90% of the world has access to these tools in a way that
464. 1:23:58doesn't require them to get a math degree what do we do with this [ __ ] and as it's getting getting more
465. 1:24:06and more and more powerful the distance between those people that are sitting on the sidelines like oh AI is a waste of
466. 1:24:11time oh it's thievery it's man it's the world's greatest plagiarism machine you know it hallucinates right the distance between those people
467. 1:24:20on the sidelines and the people that are curious about it and hang out in the in the here is is accelerating and and
468. 1:24:29distancing so the the fact that there's a lot of people in here um makes me think that I'm G to I'm going to keep doing these
469. 1:24:38multiple multiple live streams to multiple channels so I think where I'll ultimately go where this where this
470. 1:24:44question started was you know are you going back to Tik Tok I I mean I think I'll still make content for Tik Tok but
471. 1:24:52if I can reach more people by going to multiple venues with a single Source then I'm going to do that

518. 1:34:02portion of the image where we want the party hat to appear as always it's better to erase a little bit more of the
519. 1:34:08image than being too precise with your selection mid Journey will fill in those details next a problem that one that one right there if
520. 1:34:18for for those of you that have been using Photoshop for 30 years the idea of of drawing into the dog's head when you
521. 1:34:26want to put a hat on is so counterintuitive right because we're so used to like having to draw right to the
522. 1:34:32edge and then then we would Photoshop the Hat on it amazing too precise with your selection mid Journey will fill in
523. 1:34:38those details next we'll insert a prompt describing what we'd like to see in the image I'll add my personalization as
524. 1:34:45well to make it a little bit more of my style we'll hit submit and watch it generate we can then take a look at the four generated
525. 1:34:56images from the style of these party hats you can definitely tell that my personalization knows that I like
526. 1:35:01knitted sweaters now I like this image but I want to make it a little bit more festive let's give Lucy a sweater we can
527. 1:35:09go back and continue editing this image erasing an area that we want to change and inserting a new prompt this is
528. 1:35:20slick if I like one of these images I can either upscale it to my mid Journey gallery or download it to my computer oh
529. 1:35:29one of my favorite use cases for the mid Journey edit that's cool upscale to the gallery basically then makes this a native mid Journey
530. 1:35:36image so I bet I could I could start with [ __ ] from stable diffusion or ideogram start with images that were not
531. 1:35:46started in mid journey and modify them over here that's pretty slick is for interior design and architecture let me
