25:48 we're living you know this is a shitty

25:53 lot of not empathy going on right now
25:55 right other side's bad we're good
25:57 they're bad all that

26:13 right people are afraid of it people are
26:15 angry at it people think it's stealing

26:24 have the the world's most powerful in
26:27 the history of human ity the the most
26:29 powerful knowledge tool we've ever
26:32 created in the
26:34 education world is saying wow can't have
26:38 that which is staggering to me but
26:41 anyway understanding that people are
26:43 scared and and maybe intimidated and
26:46 think that they have to get a [ __ ]
26:47 math degree from Stanford to be able to
26:49 do AI which you don't by the way um the
26:54 salon is an organization where it's a
26:56 community where people won't judge you
26:58 you if you come in and you're scared or
27:00 you're angry or this or that it tends to
27:02 be a group that that seeks to understand
27:04 first um it's also a group that's very
27:06 brave willing to just try stuff like oh
27:08 there's a new thing out let's go try it
27:10 um and then on top of that it's it's a
27:12 community that's generous right so not
27:15 only are they learning amazing [ __ ]
27:18 they're willing to tell you how they did
27:20 it why they did it what they learned

35:22 and I'm you know decently geeky and I
35:24 can talk about this stuff there's no one
35:27 right now no no one zero
35:30 people including people that work like
35:32 open Ai and the people building these
35:35 tools there are zero people right now
35:37 that are expert on how we use these
35:40 tools in our lives in our jobs you know
35:43 in our
35:45 businesses because they're changing so
35:47 fast they're evolving so fast that it's
35:51 essentially impossible to keep up so the
35:53 person that was the [ __ ] Pro prompt
35:56 Master of the century three weeks weeks
35:58 ago all of a sudden um 01 preview comes
36:01 out and it's a reasoning engine and you
36:04 prompt that in a very different way it's
36:06 a very different tool you know yesterday
36:09 um anthropic
36:11 introduces uh computer use which is a
36:15 horrible name for the product these
36:17 these tech companies got to get their
36:19 naming like I'm telling you man you
36:21 wanna you want to make some money start
36:23 a branding company and just focus on
36:25 like the top 10 AI companies and say
36:27 here I'll help you with your naming
36:28 strategy just give me $100,000 a year
36:31 and we won't do [ __ ] like call the new
36:34 version of Claude 3.5 Sonet Claude 3.5

38:55 [ __ ] and so there've been all sort sorts
38:58 of cool things so one of the cool things
38:59 I saw was the guy set up the environment
39:04 and then he pointed he pointed the thing
39:07 at Claude at the Claude website and had
39:11 the agent tell Claude to write a program
39:14 and get it up and running so he had it
39:16 doing this sort of circular dance which
39:19 was kind of cool there was another cool
39:21 thing I saw where it was reading job
39:23 descriptions and then applying for them
39:25 based based on you know the guy that set
39:28 it up so there's some cool things there
39:29 but right now it's it's kind of the
39:31 first one out and and it's only in the
39:33 developer playground it will likely show
39:36 up to the to the Claude front end you
39:39 know relatively shortly uh so anyway
39:42 yeah great um and we'll maybe I'll go
39:45 play with some Claud stuff

42:25 Google and they've simplified these
42:28 things um to be more reflective of the
42:30 actual features that sit underneath chat
42:32 GPT that are hard to discover so there's
42:35 actually a bunch of things here but you
42:36 can analyze images a lot of people don't
42:38 know you can upload an image and have it
42:40 look at it um you can uh analyze data
42:44 you can upload a uh CSV file and it does
42:47 remarkable data analysis so anyway so
42:49 that's all slick
42:51 but if you hit command plus to zoom in
42:54 on the screen it actually goes back to
42:57 its old old um it's old
43:00 interface so you know chat box on the
43:02 bottom just for what they call
43:04 conversation starters so anyway that's
43:07 just a curiosity which kind of cool
43:09 though I'm sure at some point they'll
43:10 fix that and we won't be able to go back
43:12 but you know here's history here's
43:16 modern um okay the
43:19 models
43:25 oops there are six of them them
43:28 now from what I understand we're not
43:31 going to have to worry about this too

44:32 variations like you've got GPT 40 and
44:35 then you've got GPT 40 mini so these two
44:37 are essentially the same except mini is
44:40 not quite as good and it's a lot faster
44:42 right it's also cheaper for them to run
44:44 so they you know they want you to use it
44:46 but like of of all these models the the
44:49 40 mini is the one you can probably
44:51 ignore unless 40 is just being too slow
44:54 for you and then go go use Mini GPT 40
44:58 with canvas is really really good if
45:01 you've not played with 40 with canvas it
45:04 basically creates an editable document
45:07 I'll I'll demo it here in a second it
45:09 creates an editable document um where
45:11 you can do all your chat gping live
45:14 within the document so if if you have it
45:16 write you an article and you don't like
45:17 the title you can just highlight the
45:19 title and say this sucks make it better
45:21 and it will um it's pretty slick 01
45:23 preview and 01 mini these are the
45:25 reasoning engines um the
45:28 metaphorically the way I've been
45:29 thinking about these is GPT 40 is like
45:32 your Toyota Corolla that you drive to
45:35 the grocery store and you know the 01
45:39 preview is kind of like a GT3 you know
45:41 racing car that is not street legal and
45:45 you got to take to the track now 01
45:49 preview right
45:51 now
45:53 is from open ai's standpoint
45:58 um embarrassingly bad
46:00 enough that mirror moradi quit the
46:03 company because she didn't think it was
46:05 ready to show
46:07 people some version of that Sam wanted

46:32 problem or if you wanted to really think
46:33 through something like you know how to
46:36 put together a business or you know how
46:38 to launch a business or a go to market
46:40 strategy or how to solve a big problem
46:42 with some you know something you're
46:44 dealing with at home that's really
46:45 complicated it's really good at that um
46:48 mini is just the smaller faster version
46:50 of it that is apparently quite quite
46:52 capable um mini is also what's sitting
46:55 behind if you go to perplexity now
46:58 they talk about um reasoning let's see
47:04 Focus yeah reasoning beta right so I can
47:08 say

47:18 identify let me make this bigger so you

49:02 really valuable that's the 1.8 trillion
49:05 parameter mixture of experts model
49:08 that's got 10 um 180 billion parameter
49:12 models that are all specialized on
49:13 different things so when you prompt this
49:15 one it actually figures out which of
49:17 those 10 expert models to use and then
49:21 it kind of amalgamates the answers for
49:23 you so if you're not getting the results
49:24 you want up here go back and use that
49:27 one
49:28 um the other thing that they've added
49:30 here is you can flip chat GPT into
49:32 temporary chat mode um I think it just
49:36 uses
49:38 um uh GPT 40 oh no you can actually you
49:42 can you can actually use all the models
49:43 here but you're in temporary mode so
49:45 anything you do in temporary chat mode
49:47 won't show up in your prompt history so
49:50 you know if you're if you're searching
49:53 for stuff that's

51:30 focus it right so you could just say um
51:33 discover and watch videos you could umh
51:37 search discussions and opinions on
51:38 social channels you could search
51:40 academic white papers you could search
51:44 Wikipedia although they got rid of
51:46 Wikipedia so I guess you can't do that
51:49 now it used to be you could do that
51:54 um and then you can also upload files
51:56 you can images text and PDFs and and use
51:59 that as inputs but um for research
52:02 perplexity is really good let's just say
52:05 um I'd like to
52:09 understand
52:12 um the history of the
52:18 face cards
52:22 in modern card decks
52:30 and
52:31 then so notice what it does is it gives
52:34 itself a couple of little stages right
52:36 it says research the history of face
52:38 cards in modern decks summarize the
52:42 findings and then within each of these
52:44 here's what it searched um it searched
52:47 the history of face cards and the origin
52:49 of face cards and then here are the the
52:52 sources right and there's nine more so
52:54 here's all the different sources that it
52:56 served to give you the first part of
52:58 this answer and then summarize the
53:02 findings wrapping up Gathering
53:04 sufficient information and then it
53:05 writes your answer what's cool is so
53:09 let's see history of face cards is a
53:11 fascinating journey through cultural
53:13 adaptation and artistic Evolution also
53:16 known as the court cards found in each
53:18 suit they began in China Great early

1:13:25 other thing we talk about in here is um
1:13:29 working with other people working in
1:13:31 teams being in communities like the AI
1:13:33 Salon uh is is incredibly valuable um
1:13:38 and rewarding and I think as work gets
1:13:41 more and more disrupted it's going to be
1:13:44 the key to staying employed
1:13:47 so so there you have it um I forgot what

1:14:33 curious about my my point of view on
1:14:36 this thing I think the industrial design
1:14:38 is stunning and I love like it's got
1:14:42 like the fact that it's got like a
1:14:43 little walkie-talkie button to make it
1:14:45 work and it's got a little scroll wheel
1:14:48 and and then the camera and the screen
1:14:50 little speaker on the
1:14:53 back it's just beautiful industrial
1:14:56 design so when I bought this it was 200
1:14:58 bucks which is cheap for a new piece of
1:15:02 Hardware um I thought even if it sucks
1:15:07 it's going to look really good on my
1:15:10 shelf I had a Newton I had the original
1:15:13 Newton I had the original Palm Pilot
1:15:16 I've got the original rabbit
1:15:19 R1
1:15:24 um and it's it's pretty slick but
1:15:29 it's it's it's
1:15:31 not it's not going to replace my
1:15:34 phone so I don't there's not really a
1:15:38 reason to have
1:15:39 it or to use it as a daily
1:15:42 driver I have a Nikon F1 paper
1:15:46 weight I've got I've probably got a
1:15:48 bunch of stuff up here that stuff I
1:15:50 could have I could have
1:15:52 done there's there's so many projects
1:15:55 there's so much to
1:15:59 do all right this is a lot of
1:16:08 effort I'm thrilled that I went the
1:16:11 trampoline instead of the rabbit that's
1:16:13 good I like that I wonder how much the V
1:16:15 various
1:16:18 corpuses how much of the various
1:16:21 corpuses from the Far East and the
1:16:23 global South you mean you mean in terms
1:16:26 of the the the data that these things
1:16:29 have been trained on um I would imagine
1:16:34 that certainly with the video models
1:16:36 coming out of
1:16:38 China that those things probably have
1:16:41 been trained on a lot of Chinese data um
1:16:44 so I think I think the Far East is prob
1:16:46 probably represented there I would say
1:16:49 in general the corpuses are going to
1:16:51 reflect what was put on the internet for
1:16:53 the past 30 or 40 years which probably
1:16:56 skews to North America and it probably
1:16:59 skews to men right so part of the reason
1:17:02 we have bias in the models is what they
1:17:03 were trained on um the good news is that
1:17:07 the Frontier Model companies are aware
1:17:10 of the biases and aware that you know
1:17:12 there needs to be balance in the trading
1:17:13 data and now that it it appears that
1:17:16 open AI has shifted from Gathering data
1:17:21 to generating synthes synthesized data
1:17:23 so so using a big large language model
1:17:26 like GPT 4 to generate synthetic data to
1:17:30 train GPT 5 that's a new thing that
1:17:32 they're working on um and so so I think
1:17:36 that the the bias should get much more
1:17:40 balanced um Ju Just that particular
1:17:43 piece of the bias where where it's
1:17:45 unweighted because of you
1:17:48 know data misrepresentation I assume
1:17:52 that's going to get a lot better but
1:17:53 we'll see I don't know I do not know I
1:17:56 don't work for those companies so one of
1:17:57 the things to know about this
1:18:00 channel is that my focus so so let me
1:18:04 give you a little bit of a little bit of
1:18:06 uh background on me um I'm old now I
1:18:10 know you can't tell because the internet
1:18:13 the the camera takes off 30 years and I
1:18:16 I look like a 28y old little Buck I know
1:18:19 but I'm old
1:18:22 so so
1:18:26 so I moved to New York City out of out
1:18:30 of school where hang on I can't this is
1:18:34 hard to put on when your camera's
1:18:36 backwards
1:18:39 people okay I am all [ __ ] up well
1:18:44 fairly obvious um I moved to New York
1:18:48 City out of school um where I studied
1:18:50 acting um pursued a life in the Arts um
1:18:54 started and ran a theat company wrote a
1:18:55 bunch of screenplays and then in the
1:18:57 mid90s when I stumbled upon this thing
1:19:00 called the worldwide web I'm like oh
1:19:02 this is a thing this is going to be a
1:19:04 thing this is going to be a big
1:19:06 thing um and I ended up starting one of
1:19:08 the first online magazines and I
1:19:10 co-founded a company called agency.com
1:19:13 which was one of the very ear early
1:19:15 digital web agencies so we designed a
1:19:17 lot of the first websites for the
1:19:19 Fortune 500 and we grew really fast it
1:19:21 was absolutely [ __ ]
1:19:23 insane but what was remark able about
1:19:25 that
1:19:27 was I got to
1:19:29 be like a player at the beginning of a
1:19:33 thing that ultimately changed the world
1:19:35 dramatically
1:19:38 right where AI is right now is very very
1:19:42 similar to where the worldwide web was
1:19:44 in like 1995 96 a lot of people are
1:19:47 talking about oh AI is overhyped and
1:19:50 it's this is like the dot bubble we're
1:19:52 not even [ __ ] close to the dot bubble
1:19:54 metap orally speaking we're still very
1:19:57 early in this AI
1:20:00 stuff what so so there's a couple of
1:20:04 things what the worldwide web did for
1:20:07 the internet was that it made it
1:20:09 accessible to non developers and
1:20:12 researchers and academics so the
1:20:14 internet had been around for decades and
1:20:18 Tim burner Lee comes up with the the
1:20:20 worldwide web the hypertext transfer
1:20:23 protocol and the worldwide web and the
1:20:24 idea the
1:20:26 browser and it makes the internet go
1:20:29 from command line geeky command line
1:20:32 where you had to you had to know IP
1:20:34 addresses and you had to know you know
1:20:37 gopher commands and FTP commands
1:20:40 and it was
1:20:42 awful if I mean if you love command line
1:20:45 boy did you love the internet back
1:20:47 then and the worldwide web made it
1:20:50 accessible to the other 90% of the
1:20:53 population of the world right it's a
1:20:56 worldwide web and now everyone can just
1:20:59 do this to to navigate information no
1:21:02 matter where it is in the world
1:21:06 um November 30th
1:21:10 2022 is essentially the birth of this
1:21:13 channel now that that was the birth of
1:21:16 chat
1:21:17 GPT but when I experien chat GPT I've
1:21:20 been playing with stable diffusion and
1:21:21 dream booth and and some of the gpt3
1:21:24 stuff in the in the open AI
1:21:27 playground when chat GPT launched I had
1:21:31 my first Kevin McAllister moment so if
1:21:34 you haven't had a Kevin McAllister
1:21:35 moment it's
1:21:36 this it's like that that moment when you
1:21:40 use AI were like it can do that and I
1:21:43 had one of those moments in the early
1:21:45 days of the web where I published an
1:21:47 online magazine and three weeks later it
1:21:49 was written about in a Parisian
1:21:50 newspaper and I realized holy [ __ ] the
1:21:52 world's just changed
1:21:56 and I didn't think I would get to
1:21:58 experience another one of these major
1:22:02 technological
1:22:03 births in my lifetime and then I played
1:22:07 with chat GPT and I was like holy [ __ ]
1:22:08 here's another one and my my first Kevin
1:22:11 McCallister moment with chat GPD well
1:22:13 the well the first one was a Min a mini
1:22:15 Kevin McCallister moment where from the
1:22:17 minute I started typing with chat GPT
1:22:20 the thing that popped in my head was
1:22:23 holy [ __ ] the Turing test has been
1:22:24 solved
1:22:25 like this felt like I'm chatting with an
1:22:27 entity that feels like what I saw in
1:22:30 science fiction movies and then the real
1:22:33 mindblower the one that just like shook
1:22:36 me to the core that I got chills
1:22:38 from was I asked it to write me some
1:22:42 python code and it
1:22:44 did and then I realized I don't know how
1:22:46 to run Python and so rather than just
1:22:49 being humiliated and having to call up a
1:22:51 friend you know dial a buddy uh how do
1:22:54 you run python I'm an idiot I just asked
1:22:57 chat GPT and it said oh you launch
1:22:59 terminal and you type in this command
1:23:01 line and I was like I don't want to type
1:23:02 in a command line can I just see it on
1:23:04 the web can I just copy and paste code
1:23:06 on the web I said sure here's repet go
1:23:08 do that within 90 minutes I had written
1:23:12 a functional python application that was
1:23:15 making API calls to open Ai and
1:23:18 generating content from user
1:23:20 input like marketing
1:23:23 content within 9 minutes I've never
1:23:26 written a line of python in my
1:23:28 life so that was the moment I realized
1:23:31 holy [ __ ] the world's just changed so
1:23:33 this channel is
1:23:36 about AI from that moment
1:23:39 forward like if you're into AI for the
1:23:42 for the math and the weights and the
1:23:45 Laten space and all the [ __ ] it does all
1:23:47 the [ __ ] it makes possible Transformers
1:23:50 and cool what I'm interested in is now
1:23:54 that the other 90% of the world has
1:23:57 access to these tools in a way that
1:23:58 doesn't require them to get a math
1:24:01 degree what do we do with this
1:24:04 [ __ ] and as it's getting getting more
1:24:06 and more and more powerful the distance
1:24:08 between those people that are sitting on
1:24:10 the sidelines like oh AI is a waste of
1:24:12 time oh it's thievery it's man it's the
1:24:14 world's greatest plagiarism machine you
1:24:15 know it hallucinates
1:24:18 right the distance between those people
1:24:20 on the sidelines and the people that are
1:24:22 curious about it and hang out in the in
1:24:25 the
1:24:27 here is is accelerating and and
1:24:30 distancing so the the fact that there's
1:24:31 a lot of people in here
1:24:34 um makes me think that I'm G to I'm
1:24:36 going to keep doing these
1:24:39 multiple multiple live streams to
1:24:41 multiple channels so I think where I'll
1:24:43 ultimately go where this where this
1:24:45 question started was you know are you
1:24:48 going back to Tik Tok I I mean I think
1:24:50 I'll still make content for Tik Tok but
1:24:52 if I can reach more people by going to
1:24:55 multiple venues with a single Source
1:24:57 then I'm going to do that

1:33:58 birthday recently and I want to give her
1:34:00 a festive outfit we start by erasing the
1:34:03 portion of the image where we want the
1:34:04 party hat to appear as always it's
1:34:07 better to erase a little bit more of the
1:34:09 image than being too precise with your
1:34:11 selection mid Journey will fill in those
1:34:13 details next a
1:34:16 problem that one that one right there if
1:34:18 for for those of you that have been
1:34:20 using Photoshop for 30 years the idea of
1:34:24 of drawing into the dog's head when you
1:34:26 want to put a hat on is so
1:34:28 counterintuitive right because we're so
1:34:30 used to like having to draw right to the
1:34:32 edge and then then we would Photoshop
1:34:34 the Hat on it amazing too precise with
1:34:37 your selection mid Journey will fill in
1:34:39 those details next we'll insert a prompt
1:34:42 describing what we'd like to see in the
1:34:44 image I'll add my personalization as
1:34:45 well to make it a little bit more of my
1:34:47 style we'll hit submit and watch it
1:34:52 generate we can then take a look at the
1:34:54 four generated
1:34:56 images from the style of these party
1:34:59 hats you can definitely tell that my
1:35:00 personalization knows that I like
1:35:01 knitted sweaters now I like this image
1:35:05 but I want to make it a little bit more
1:35:06 festive let's give Lucy a sweater we can
1:35:09 go back and continue editing this
1:35:12 image erasing an area that we want to
1:35:15 change and inserting a new
1:35:18 prompt this is
1:35:21 slick if I like one of these images I
1:35:24 can either upscale it to my mid Journey
1:35:26 gallery or download it to my computer oh
1:35:29 one of my favorite use cases for the mid
1:35:31 Journey edit that's cool upscale to the
1:35:32 gallery basically then makes this a
1:35:35 native mid Journey
1:35:37 image so I bet I could I could start
1:35:40 with [ __ ] from stable diffusion or
1:35:44 ideogram start with images that were not
1:35:46 started in mid journey and modify them
1:35:49 over here that's pretty slick is for
1:35:51 interior design and architecture let me

1:35:58 image mid Journey already knows what I
1:36:00 like because of my personalization so
1:36:02 I'm curious how it'll restyle this
