2:05:39 is you're actually interacting with all
2:05:43 of the people that have come before us
2:05:44 that put [ __ ] on the
2:05:47 internet you're tapping into collective
2:05:50 intelligence so as an educator I would
2:05:53 say hey we have the most
2:05:56 powerful language tool in the history of
2:06:00 humanity and we've got these beings who
2:06:03 are trying to figure out how to use
2:06:05 their brains so why don't we bring this
2:06:07 stuff into the classroom and then
2:06:09 critically think about teach them
2:06:11 critical
2:06:15 thinking let's let's write two
2:06:19 papers one in the classroom with a pen
2:06:23 and we're going to put all your phones
2:06:25 in a box so you can't look at your
2:06:26 phones and you're going to write on
2:06:28 paper and you're going to we're going to
2:06:30 do this for a week and you're going to
2:06:31 write papers and then the next week
2:06:34 we're going to bring in chat and we're
2:06:36 going to write the same paper with chat
2:06:38 GPT and then we're going to spend the
2:06:40 next three weeks after that comparing
2:06:43 those two exercises what did we learn
2:06:45 what was harder what was
2:06:47 easier um what was the worst part about
2:06:51 writing by hand what was the best part
2:06:52 about writing by hand right all of that
2:06:55 critical thinking get people thinking
2:06:58 get your students thinking because it's
2:07:00 the only [ __ ] thing that's going to
2:07:04 matter what our current education system
2:07:07 does and I don't know how it is in
2:07:09 England I'm an ugly
2:07:13 American but what everything is geared
2:07:16 for here is teach our kids skills single
2:07:19 skills ideally
2:07:22 don't be a liberal arts [ __ ] get
2:07:25 yourself an engineering
2:07:28 degree specialize right so right now in
2:07:32 today's world we value
2:07:36 specialization because up until
2:07:40 2022 if you wanted to be really good at
2:07:43 say
2:07:45 law or say medicine or say
2:07:52 illustrating or music making or whatever
2:07:54 you had to spend a decade or two decades
2:07:57 or five decades specializing in that
2:08:00 thing and then you get paid more for
2:08:02 that
2:08:03 specialization well as AI gets better
2:08:05 and better and better it's going to
2:08:07 democratize those
2:08:10 Specialties and there's going to be a
2:08:12 flip there's this going to be an iceberg
2:08:16 flip where the value of specialization
2:08:19 is going to drop
2:08:23 at large there will be some Specialists
2:08:25 that still remain valuable
2:08:28 but and what will be more valued is
2:08:31 people that can think critically and
2:08:32 think across disciplines think like a
2:08:35 creative director think like a movie
2:08:37 producer think like an Orchestra
2:08:39 conductor rather than a virtuoso
2:08:44 violinist so anything that you can do to
2:08:47 get your students thinking critically
2:08:52 is going to serve them incredibly well
2:08:54 in the
2:08:56 future like I think it's the only
2:09:00 skill okay no more education pins after
2:09:03 10 p.m. that got you too worked
2:09:07 up I don't you know it's a funny thing I
2:09:10 I never gave a [ __ ] about education for
2:09:12 years and years and years I just didn't
2:09:14 care about it and and
2:09:18 now it it just it pissed me off
2:09:24 that if there's any institution that
2:09:27 should be fired the [ __ ] up about AI
