8. 2:01kicked in the new year last night or this morning my time at 6:00 a.m. but it was midnight there in sunny Australia for Drew and
9. 2:14steo we did the GPT for good event this lovely cookie image was done by Danielle Be not Afraid Isn't that
10. 2:24cool or she baked the cookies and she's just an overachiever that's a possibility to Drew it was a blast I I can't believe
11. 2:38you were watching this while you were with your family teeing them up on the TV that was awesome drew it was really fun welcome welcome
12. 2:52welcome all right GPT for good was a hit it was I'll show you uh some of what we did we our grand total about 2 hours ago
13. 3:04was 121 gpts made uh and I think some have been added since then so like 123 125 heck no I didn't pick those cookies
14. 3:14that's the spirit exactly you you make a GPT for that and actually we're probably only two or three years away from you
15. 3:22just tell the GPT to make you cookies that look like that and then your baking 3D printer will squirt them out so you
16. 3:29you don't this whole thing about having to learn how to do baking it's just not really 123 123 gpts so if you don't know what
17. 3:40the hell I'm talking about that's fine uh starting yesterday at 6:00 in the morning Pacific time was it
18. 3:50yesterday yeah um an Murphy and I set off on a 24-hour adventure to teach as many people as we could to make GP pts
19. 4:00for nonprofits and and causes of their choice and it was it was just it was awesome um the uh she she had a pile of
20. 4:09people in every one of her sessions I had a pile of people in every one of mine um we made 123 gpts for good um
21. 4:17I'll give you access to the directory that Vicky who's on the call here she stay so so an and I alternated so our
22. 4:26sessions were like 6 hours apart so we had time to take a little nap Vicky stayed for the whole 24 hours and
23. 4:32updated the directory so she was there the whole time I I knew I was volunteering an for this I didn't
24. 4:37realize I was volunteering Vicki but uh it was it was really great having her there so it it was it was a lot of fun
25. 4:44it was really good um and yeah it was it was you know people were asking great questions and um I don't know just
26. 4:53building really cool things and and telling good stories it it was it was Vicky volunteered herself that's the that's the problem
27. 5:04you're like hey I have an idea people like here are the 37 things to to to make that idea better that are now your job
28. 5:15right ah yes such is the burden such is the burden all right let's let's say hi folks here Source Camp good to see you what's

34. 6:25don't even know where Joker lives but I went back and watched the video it was it there there are multiple ways you can
35. 6:36interpret what I said there including what you dirty-minded people did but you know you going do what are you gonna do
36. 6:51um my neighbors are hosting an outdoor New Year's Eve karaoke party that sounds uh that that sounds like it could be an
37. 7:06experience lunar stick I bet feeling sick it's it's awesome isn't it what's the deal about pie is it getting
38. 7:17better well about 3 weeks ago they they upgraded pi to Pi 2 or 2.1 so so yeah so they are improving it I think Pi is
39. 7:27going to get much better in 202 for how can you misinterpret Joker and I are going to bed well just that joker is going to bed I'm going to
40. 7:38bed they are two parallel lives on the same course cuz cuz Joker works at at night and it was the morning so he was getting
41. 7:51home from it doesn't matter I'm still sleep deprived I slept all day today so I got no idea what to do or say here so
42. 7:59I'm going to leave it all up to you what we're going to do um he said together yeah I did say together well I meant
43. 8:05together in time not together see there's the time space continuum I was in the time part of the time space
44. 8:12continuum you were in the space part of the time space continuum that's where the confusion [Laughter]

52. 9:51really is well I figure we'll go so what was cool we did the 24-hour thing yesterday and then it it it it it wasn't
53. 9:59until I started the 3:00 a.m. session it was 3:00 a.m. Pacific 4:00 a.m. my time that Drew said oh in 2 hours you know
54. 10:08I'm going to be celebrating the new year and I was like oh God I got to go two hours and I was kind of done at an hour
55. 10:13and I'm like all right how do I kill 55 minutes like so the the fact that I just made one one little fuxa is uh I I I think I should be
56. 10:27commended for that back soon okay bye oh man my fam uh walked into a Kyle gigglefest I like these nights it's just
57. 10:39I'm just I'm overly tired and underly intellectually active it's just like there's just like it's just like a slow
58. 10:46it's like a water bed you know you get in the water bed and the wave goes and it goes that's kind of my brain waves are not very very active
59. 10:58tonight all right we just labbed it that which makes the AI so fun is Kyle better from covid now I'm mostly better yeah I'm
60. 11:10still I still have a little bit of head congestion my voice is still a little tired um I don't know that I ever really
61. 11:18had brain fog but you know we're we're starting at a relatively low bar [Laughter] so maybe just brain fog maybe brain fog was
62. 11:34my natural state so the covid brain fog is like yeah whatever I I went to University and I
63. 11:49started studied the book smarts I got a degree Lulu what do you think is the best thing to look forward to in
64. 12:052024 with regards to AI um
65. 12:23well what did Greg Brockman say Greg Brockman did a tweet today that I thought was interesting so Greg Brockman is the president of
66. 12:33open AI he was the one that was fired with Sam Alman or right before Sam Alman and was brought back he's Sam's
67. 12:41buddy he posted something today that I thought was pretty [Music] interesting Greg
68. 12:57Brockman he said prediction 2024 will feel like a breakthrough year in terms of AI capability safety and general positivity
69. 13:11about its potential impact impact in the longer term it'll look like just one more year on an exponential that can make everyone's
70. 13:21lives better than anyone's today so so this is the guy that's you know sitting inside the chat GPT Factory
71. 13:36and he he he thinks that 2024 will be a breakout year I think 2023 was a breakout year but as we got to the end
72. 13:44of 2023 what I thought was I don't I don't think I think what we experienced in 2023 was like you know playing
73. 13:53Marbles and and and we're about to go into the you know the World Series or the Super Bowl like so and and then what he says is
74. 14:02it'll look like so so 2024 is going to be a breakout year in terms of capability safety and general positivity
75. 14:11about its potential impact so so if we think our our capabilities were Amplified in 2023 like this group the AI
76. 14:20salon and and the AI learning lab here the people that are hanging out regularly and playing with this stuff
77. 14:25we've all experienced our capabilities going up and our creativity going up and our thinking going up and so if 2024 is
78. 14:34a breakout year it means it will be significantly bigger than 2023 and so that was my feeling so when he says that
79. 14:41and then he says and then that breakout year will just feel like another year in a series of breakout years because when
80. 14:50he talks about the uh just one more year on an exponential so if you don't know about exponential growth linear growth
81. 14:58is is like this right you go up you know 45° up and to the right or up and to the left um an exponential curve sort of
82. 15:06does nothing for a long time and then it starts to go up and then it does this and so so time is time uh so if we are
83. 15:15just entering the exponential curve then all of a sudden just year after year after year we see significant advances
84. 15:25so um what am I most excited about I'm most excited about true multimodal um AI
85. 15:41where we just sort of speak into existence anything music video pictures words computer programs animations any of
86. 15:55it um and and we're going to have different kind kinds of interfaces for it like right now most of our interfaces
87. 16:01sort of the chat GPT box I think that's going to change pretty dramatically and then the other thing that I think we're going to see really
88. 16:08big breakthroughs on in 202 2024 are um agents autonomous agents so again right now we go to chat GPT and we say hey chat GPT do this
89. 16:22thing for me and then chat GPT does it and you're like it wasn't quite right chat GPT and then it tries again and
90. 16:27you're like it's still wrong you dumb dumb and then you go tell your friends AI doesn't work it doesn't know how to
91. 16:32spell it hallucinates this is really stupid I hate AI That's this year next year it's going to be more like hey you know what I was thinking
92. 16:45maybe I could do this and then the AIS will just spin up a bunch of little robots that will go take action on our
93. 16:53behalf and come back with [ __ ] done and spell checked and everything so so I'm kind of looking forward to
94. 17:03seeing what that looks like cuz it's pretty [ __ ] remarkable just having the Dum Dum toy that doesn't quite work
95. 17:10this year did open AI have any idea of what we were up to I don't think so I I tagged Sam Alman in when I when I said
96. 17:18uh we were doing the 24-hour GPT thing and because he's jealous of me he didn't get back to me so but that's that's on
97. 17:25him that's not me I'm I'm content in my own skin and Jokers apparently um so no I do not think that uh that
98. 17:39open AI was aware of what we're up to maybe now that we did 121 gpts in in 24 hours maybe they would be happy to to
99. 17:48say that's cool I decided for my 2024 resolution is to create a Roman Empire AI including gpts animations images and
100. 17:57music that's that's awesome I think you're playing you're playing right into the uh Roman Empire meme that that went
101. 18:03around Tik Tok a while ago that was pretty funny actually perfect recap of 2023 Kyle thank you I mean I mean you
102. 18:16know the tools are stupid right now the tools are dumb Dums I I I find it remarkable like humans humans are absolutely amazing you
103. 18:28know you you get a tool that so prior to chat GPT if you wanted to say write an opening paragraph for your blog post
104. 18:40you'd sit there and go huh what words do I need to put together to make me not sound like an idiot and then an hour and
105. 18:47a half later you'd be like I loathe myself and then Along Comes this magical tool and it's like PR here's an entire
106. 18:55blog post and then it's humans we like immediately internalized that we're like but is it [Laughter] perfect no well then it's completely
107. 19:06useless the silly AI stuff I would never use that I don't know what you people are talking about why is everyone so
108. 19:18excited I think this is going to be one of those nights Joker I heard that how many did we create 123 cuno 123 here let's go
109. 19:28look at the at the site so if you go to if y'all go to if you'd be so kind to point your browsers at the salon. a go

111. 19:52is so this is the site that that Vicky put together for us thank you Vicky Rockstar Vicky um and so it talks about what we did and
112. 20:01she kind of rewrote it so it's now in the past tense which is super cool and all of these things are gpts that were made in the past 24
113. 20:16hours it's so cool and there are some rock stars in here like Joy pie and TK and Kayla I think is her name who's
114. 20:30got the the name what was her name in here God there's so many of them do good AI I think it's Kayla's her name so so
115. 20:43some people did multiple I think TK did more than 20 and I know lunis did a ton um but it's just amazing so here let me read some of these

119. 21:31AI that's right you're you're a rock star your your descriptions are really good you you put in a ton of these
120. 21:38things they're just awesome so thank you thank you for participating um fiscal Tracker Pro so a personal

122. 21:59library so like I love it's like there's some really big things there's really small things there's right your cause is
123. 22:06your cause the thing you're into is the thing you're into 48 and 48 builds nonprofit websites for free that's Vicki
124. 22:13who built us this website for free unless there might be an invoice coming but but but if there is I don't know about it U

126. 22:41guide and and so you can click on any of these so go to this thing and and go join these things go go play with them I
127. 22:48heard a couple of people talking last night that they they went to a couple of them and ended up running down rabbit
128. 22:53holes I think I think this is one of the things I'm most excited about um lunar stick I only did five for the
129. 23:01event because I'm sick but lunar stick you can you can submit other ones that you've done previously if they if
130. 23:07they're for nonprofits or good throw them in the throw them in the uh in the form absolutely I think I the thing that I
131. 23:17like the most about gpts is that one of the challenges of G of chat GPT is that because it kind of knows everything it's like where
132. 23:31do you start right it's like if you just walk into a library you don't know how libraries work it's just like floors and
133. 23:38floors of shelves of books right for as far as the eye can see and you're just like where where do I even begin with
134. 23:46this and that's kind of what chat GPT is like and these gpts are just like these little micro snapshots of some little
135. 23:53knowledge nugget in in all of the knowledge space and it and it just it makes it like this smaller little world that you can
136. 24:02explore so there's something about that for me that's amazing if you were doing this for someone how would you put it out to the
137. 24:09rest of the world so well so the in in this case we'd put this out to the rest of the World by we we have this
138. 24:18site now called GPT for good that has got you know all of these sites on it so so you you'd build a website or you
139. 24:27would put it on your website as a graphic you know I've got a GPT that you can play with um or you might call it
140. 24:33like an interactive assistant or something like that the interactive version of the website you could you could Rebrand it certainly
141. 24:41um but the GPT store is coming out probably in the next two weeks but certainly within the next month and the
142. 24:49GPT store is just going to be like the Apple App Store so how you get an uh an IOS app into the world is you first
143. 24:58submit it to the App Store you get it accepted in the app store and then you do all your marketing to try to get
144. 25:03people to go buy your app it's going to be the same sort of thing with gpts is is my is my instinct I'm hoping
145. 25:10that they they architect the store in such a way that we can uh copy embed codes for the GPT so that you can
146. 25:19actually embed a GPT into your website how do I find the AI salon so if you go to that if you go to the salon.

148. 25:36networks community and I think it drops you into welcome to the salon and this is this is the the page that tells you
149. 25:45what we're all about why we do what we do what our values are are things like curiosity and generosity and exploration and
150. 25:54collaboration and we have a meeting coming up tu Tuesday so so tonight we'll all get fat and happy on New Year's
151. 26:03tomorrow we'll try to recover and then Tuesday Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. mountain time is the AI Salon
152. 26:10meeting and Anne Murphy who I did the 24-hour GPT event with she's going to be co-hosting with me Leah can't make it
153. 26:17this week so that actually worked out perfect so Ann's going to co-host with me and we're going to talk about the
154. 26:24event and what happened and if anyone was at the event and is at the salon we want them to talk about what their
155. 26:30experience was cuz Ann and I like especially for me an an had it a bit better in terms of being able to gauge like what people were actually
156. 26:41doing cuz hers were done on Zoom so on Zoom she's got everyone there they're asking questions they're doing breakout
157. 26:47rooms my Tik Tok is just me talking like an idiot for a couple hours right and you know occasionally seeing in the in
158. 26:53the comments what's going on um but it's going to be really exciting to hear for people that participated in the event
159. 26:59like what was it like for them there were a lot of people that came to multiple sessions um it wasn't designed
160. 27:05like that it was designed for if you came to a one session it was sort of a complete little package but we had
161. 27:10people that came again and again and again and just kept building gpts which I that was unexpected and absolutely
162. 27:17[ __ ] awesome so really really cool the URL isn't working for me there's something weird about that URL I have

171. 29:06that's that's how they're going to have to to work doesn't it seem that way and you're also going to have to be
172. 29:13able to hook other things to them like um whatever you call it like like like when we have avatars that can talk for us which by the way I
173. 29:24got accepted into the did agent um weight list program so maybe we'll go play with that live tonight all right can we change a GPT
174. 29:39look not right now you can just do dark mode light mode um no like like I said gpts chat GPT gpts all of this stuff is so
175. 29:50early they're just janky pieces of [ __ ] they are they are really under engineered um incomplete pieces of
176. 29:58software right now um they're G to get much better they're going to get much better so just just be patient again my
177. 30:07my advice to everyone right now is build the best thing you can enthusiastically knowing that you'll probably throw it out in two
178. 30:21months don't be discouraged that the thing that you're building won't be perfect is janky can't do what you want
179. 30:29it to do makes no sense you have no way to Market it all of that is the feature not the bug right now it's just because
180. 30:37we're early so these things are going to get much more sophisticated much more quickly the good news about about
181. 30:44building at this time of an industry like this is that the competition's really low if you do something even
182. 30:52remotely interesting it can rise above the noise oh I'll show you an example of [Music] that this kids for those of you that are
183. 31:07younger than me this is what's called removable media this was a sidequest drive this was 45 megabytes and it's a it's like a it's
184. 31:17like a cartridge and you stick it in a a cyquest drive it had 45 megabytes on it but this is urban desires so this was an online magazine
185. 31:31I created and launched in November of 1994 and the internet at the time was mostly like research papers and
186. 31:41dissertations because there was no one on the internet except scientists and researchers and mathematicians and then this thing came
187. 31:49along called the worldwide web where you could make these things called web pages and you could click on links and so I
188. 31:55said well I have a bunch of creative friends what if I did a magazine like there's nothing on the internet like art
189. 32:01and culture so what if I did an art and culture magazine and so came up with the concept went on a vacation with my wife learned
190. 32:08enough HTML to code it together and uploaded those files to some computer in California and 3 weeks later there was a
191. 32:17full page article written about Urban Desires in a Parisian newspaper three weeks later so was Urban desires particularly
192. 32:29brilliant no it was like it was barely competent but it was there was no competition it was the only thing like
193. 32:37it so that's where we are with these gpts and with learning Ai and with figuring out how to put together a
194. 32:46zappier automation slightly different than someone else did two years from now your silly little automations as cool as they are to you
195. 32:55and me right now are you're going to be competing with some real [ __ ] horsepower cuz these tools are going to
196. 33:01get real sophisticated real fast and and the competition's going to get steep so Embrace where we are right now
197. 33:10because if you focus and build and put stuff out there and just share it and you know put it on your website the best
198. 33:18way you can even if it's not perfect and talk about it I'm telling you it's going to serve you because
199. 33:27something one of us builds is going to rise above the noise and there's going to be massive opportunity an
200. 33:35Murphy saying hey and happy New Year friends back to getting my gpts submitted oh that's awesome man great to
201. 33:44see you I just told everyone you're going to be joining me as the co-host for the salon on Tuesday so everyone has
202. 33:50to come um for for that special event we're going to be talking about the stuff we did yeah it's yeah this is it's
203. 33:56it's an amazing time and that was a a big part of the theme of last night of the 24-hour GPT for good thing was
204. 34:06um the fact that we could do it like the fact that we're at a time that a week and a half ago someone said oh you
205. 34:14should do a 24-hour thing and I was like nah oh maybe and then we just put it together in seven days like an jumped on
206. 34:21Vicki jumped on and just we went people made a bunch of images we were sharing them all over the Internet
207. 34:28and we went and these tools are powerful enough that literally in less than an hour with a lot of banter and chitter
208. 34:38chatter in between we were able to get people who'd never built anything before to build a fairly sophisticated
209. 34:46application for the nonprofit of their choice that like that's the world we live in right now you just need to be
210. 34:52willing to like go over the hump of but I'm not very technical Kyle I'm not good with computers I don't know if you knew
211. 34:59this but uh I didn't go to Stamford either did I I have a degree in acting oh that makes sense that tracks
212. 35:13yeah yeah yeah he's he's a he's he seems a little touched he's he's a little touched he's he's I mean's I mean he's
213. 35:21he seems like a perfectly pleasant person Lord digital Gods good day to you sir thank you for the Ares aruse by any

217. 35:58repeat offenders we had some repeat offenders at the 22 24-hour event so we reached out to them people that like
218. 36:04showed up a bunch made a bunch of gpts I'd like them all to be at the at the salon cuz yeah I want to I want to bring
219. 36:10them up on on stage and have them talk about what their experience was and you know what it was like to to you know
220. 36:17build multiple of those things what was their experience just doing it oh new now here in the live I'm happy to do
221. 36:23that what I'll do is this I sometimes people want to be up on stage sometimes people don't so if anyone here was there
222. 36:32last night that wants to hop up on stage like Vicki if you want to hop up on stage here tonight um just just uh do an

234. 39:06you know I think also about here's another thing that I think about I was talking to Ann earlier today um so we
235. 39:13did this event and it was like it was we want to get people there we want them to build all this [ __ ] yay y we did it yay
236. 39:20we did it well now look at what we have we have we have a directory of all of these sites that are you know for a
237. 39:29specific cause that that were sort of built in this really concentrated period so we now know who built these things
238. 39:37and we've got their emails we can reach out to them if we want to talk to them like there's a whole there's sort of a
239. 39:41whole future for whatever these things are and and how they become and some people are going to do nothing with
240. 39:48theirs and other people are going to keep developing them and other people are going to promote the [ __ ] out of
241. 39:52them and and it's just like there's there's kind of a whole world of interaction that goes Way Beyond this
242. 39:59event that I'm really excited about can we still submit new gpts you can um what what um what we were talking about yesterday

265. 43:27and it's this whole infrastructure or does it fizzle away and get replaced with something else and what we realized
266. 43:33is that you know the the the mechanism we created of like a 24-hour Challenge and something for good right in this
267. 43:41case it was GPT for good depending on what happens with gpts it might be that next year but it could be something else
268. 43:47entirely and I I just I think the spirit of it was was really amazing and just the the nature of how people showed up
269. 43:54like willing to help each other and willing to just just contribute and I don't know it was it was a really fun
270. 43:59event so I think so too and I think we have the potential to build this out I mean I did this on a like what I call it

364. 1:00:05requires you to really deeply understand stable diffusion so they they semis simplified that but tried to give the
365. 1:00:12artists a lot of control so now that um that stable diffusion is doing video they've got sdxl turbo which is doing realtime image
366. 1:00:25they've got traditional image generation they've got model building kind of like dream Booth with Laura and new
367. 1:00:34checkpoints and things like that Leonardo is trying to build all of these into this single interface and so it's a

408. 1:10:12they've been doing is every time they create a new model they open source it so there's a massive developer Community for stable
409. 1:10:20diffusion so what Leonardo represents is all the latest bells and whistles as soon as they come out and then what
410. 1:10:30Leonardo is is just a slight Delay from that with a slightly better interface so what you're going to get with Leonardo is just a lot more
411. 1:10:38flexibility to do a lot more things um but that's not necessarily a good thing if you just want kickass highquality art
412. 1:10:47mid Journeys where you go if you want um to create art in the context of some big project that you're working on then
413. 1:10:57Dolly 3 inside of chat GPT is the way to go if you love flipping switches and dials and geeking things and making your

415. 1:11:11out on stability AI is the way to go all of these tools have very different strengths and weaknesses and the only

448. 1:17:24next level and it would give you like a second level a new set of features and so over time if you used it you would
449. 1:17:33gain more of the features I thought that was a really interesting approach but you know it didn't ultimately take off
450. 1:17:39but but I like that I like that idea of how do you artificially limit the feature well and in fact if you think
451. 1:17:46about what generative AI is doing right now it's going to become the simplification interface sitting on on
