31. 7:33first video there will be the live video which is the live [Music] stream and today I think I think what I'm GNA work on
32. 7:48is I put out a video over the weekend so last night while I was watching the the fruitball game the uh Detroit
33. 7:57Lions game which is actually a really good game I don't you know what I realized about sports is I don't give too much of a [ __ ] about
34. 8:09it but but it's something to pass the time that's got you know some level of drama to keep me a little bit
35. 8:18engaged like like I watched the uh the Nascar championship weekend so I watch the truck championship and then the
36. 8:26infinity championship and then the and then the Cup Championship and they were fine I don't like Phoenix as a race track so but
37. 8:41[Music] whatever um and then I watched the football game but while I was watching the football game I made a cool video I
38. 8:50made a video that that was inspired by an old a film that was made in I think in the late late 80s um called Co scoty by
39. 9:02Jeffrey Regio and it had um Philip Glass did the the score for [Music]
40. 9:19it I was sort of inspired by Kelly Bosch who puts out she seems to put out a video a night and I was like well she
41. 9:27just kind of does it sitting on her C just is what she [Music] said saw that MJ was suing NASCAR Michael Jordan is
42. 9:42huh wonder what for didn't see [Music] that I'm now more a bigger F1 fan than I am a Nascar fan I mean I do like NASCAR because they
43. 9:57can bang the [ __ ] out of each other and that's fun [Laughter] [Music]

82. 18:51was this was done in chat GPT and in um Luma Labs Dreamscape for the video

95. 22:53didn't but what I did do was I came [Music] into it's the AI version of knuckle
96. 23:09[Music] drag um all right whatever okay so let's let's go back to to this so so here's what I did let me let me move that up
97. 23:26there for the people on Tik Tok so you can see a little bit of what I'm doing up here if you want to see this better
98. 23:30on Tik Tok you can flip over if you click on my name up in the corner there and click on Youtube it'll take you to
99. 23:37the AI learning lab Channel um okay so in the late 80s um Jeffrey Reggio and Philip Glass put together this film
100. 23:47called Coan scatti and Coan Scotti was a Native American term I think for life out of balance and I thought it was a quite
101. 23:57remarkable film and it's it's always kind of stuck with me and one of the things that it did was it just cut from
102. 24:04all these sort of either time lapse or slow motion um shots of cities and and you know sort of cities encroaching on
103. 24:13nature and nature doing its thing and and it just had this beautiful minimalist minimalist thing and so I thought you know one of
104. 24:22the nice things to do in editing is is is sort of repeat a camera shot so repeat a push in or repeat a repeat a
105. 24:32pull out and so I thought could we do that so in my in my uh in my quest to no longer use my brain um rather than think about like
106. 24:47what were all the shots I need I just said give me 20 epic landscape prompts and describe them as if they were anel
107. 24:53Adams or George O Keef black and white photos without mentioning their names um use as much detail as possible um with the prompt um include
108. 25:04film type dark room techniques to capture their style so so this was I did this inside of a a a uh a chat gbt thing I did where I had it
109. 25:16design mid Journey prompts so this this chat already has a mid Journey prompt technique in it and so it just generated
110. 25:24a whole pile of prompts of you know photograph of a densed forest ancient redwoods their trunks stretching up upward beyond the frame
111. 25:34the sunlight filtering through the thin faint beams captured in a medium format film right so I just did a whole bunch
112. 25:40of these then I went over to Mid journey and I literally just copied and pasted so to John's point no I didn't do any pixel pushing I did I
113. 25:52did copy and paste prompting and in came the images and so I just went through here and I found images that I thought
114. 26:00like this one I thought that would probably animate pretty well it's it's kind of interesting visually and so I just took I think I
115. 26:09took all 20 of those prompts from chat GPT dumped them into mid journey and like some of them came came
116. 26:18out in color which I didn't want and I wasn't wild about these but this one was fine and then these were cool this one
117. 26:25it put a it put a person in this one is Big redwoods but they're in color and I just wanted black and white
118. 26:32and again my goal here wasn't wasn't to make Pixel Perfect art my goal here was to um to just have some interesting images
119. 26:47that I could then animate right and so I just went through here and I just downloaded a bunch of these These are pretty cool this one I
120. 26:58thought was really beautiful it's got a little color on [Music] [Music]
121. 27:12it um and like this one was a beautiful like that's very anel Adams right so then I went over to Luma labs and I just copied and pasted all
122. 27:28these things in there and then I just you know Wind Blows dramatically um in slow motion as the camera pulls out so I just made
123. 27:43individual little videos of each of the shots and again I wasn't I wasn't doing anything here like I didn't really give
124. 27:53too much of a [ __ ] like if it was really bad like like that rotation is too fast and all of a sudden the colors
125. 28:03turn um it like adds color it goes from black and white to sort of in color so like that was shitty so then I redid
126. 28:13that one with just a different prompt to make the water in slow motion and then with each of these just sort of pulled them
127. 28:26out so then I had you know some amount of shots right I was like oh God now I got to edit them so I went over to I oh
128. 28:36before I went to iMovie I thought I've gota I've gotta come up with some um songs or a song and
129. 28:50so oh let me let me share this hang on a sec cuz would be cool to hear these sunno [Music]
130. 29:06things which one's that that's on YouTube uh pop up that comment on YouTube I'll look at it [Music] again the movie is so good thank you
131. 29:19Cosmic lover all right um let me cover that up for the Tik Tok folks all right so let's I've got these up yeah so so
132. 29:28here were the so let's see The Melancholy so what I wanted was I wanted something Philip glassy with a you can't
133. 29:36say Philip Glass but one thing one thing I found out about sunno is that you can't you can't give it artist names but
134. 29:43you can give it album names so so if you want something like American Idiot um you know sort of you know um driving
135. 29:53rock or driving Punk or whatever Green Day is you can say you can say that but you can't say Green Day um so that's
136. 30:01interesting but I just did Melancholy piano solo with weary strings that evoke emotions of watching vast Landscapes
137. 30:08right so I just did kind of a dreary a dreary prompt [Music]

141. 31:52the other thing the other thing I that that I like about this approach is like you could just keep making raw
142. 32:01assets and just keep making raw assets it like the the job becomes more about curation than creation so like I just made a ship pile of
143. 32:16these one of them down here this one is one minute long and so this is the one I ended up using so there were plenty up
144. 32:23here that that I could use but this one kind of ended [Music]
145. 33:21so then I just went over into iMovie and so and this is I don't really know iMovie at all so so I basically did a
146. 33:29fade up from black and then threw in a title and like here's all the here's all the movies I imported here's the song I
147. 33:35imported and I literally just put put them in at their default times I didn't time it to the music at all I just did
148. 33:42cross fades in between all the things and then I think for the last thing I slowed it down and Faded it out right so that at the
149. 33:53end oh wait you're not looking at this hang on God damn it this this screen sharing nonsense is
150. 34:07nonsense all right anyway so this is what I was talking about before so I'm mean iMovie right now so I just dragged
151. 34:15all the Clips in here here's the song Here's all the individual little Clips so I literally just dragged them down in
152. 34:21the timeline threw cross Fades between them went over to titles found a title that I like dragged that on there for
153. 34:28you know just longer than its Default Time faded up from black cross faded in between and just you know had enough had
154. 34:38enough content that it matched the song Perfectly [Music]
155. 35:00right so that's pretty pretty um yeah now could you hear that gosh that seemed like more than a
156. 35:15minute yeah well it's it's a long depressing [Laughter] song It's a Long depressing movie can you hear when I play an iMovie can you

161. 37:02so so that was just sort of a spontaneous a spontaneous put something out in the world kind of thing I just wanted to do something and then
162. 37:14today I wanted to really take it further and I I discovered a couple of of fun things um about using canvas um which I liked so

166. 37:54music okay all right so so in Luma Labs they've got this cool new thing where they've got camera move so if if in your prompt so I can I can
167. 38:08upload an image here so let's go to do I have my downloads yeah so there's an image so if I bring that image in you know I can say um
168. 38:21man wrinkles his face and then I say as camera and the mini you type in camera it gives you all these camera moves um so we could
169. 38:35say we'll pull out as he wrinkles his face and so I wanted I wanted chat GPT to write prompts that that knew all those camera
170. 38:51moves um and I wanted the specific camera moves for for dream machine for Luma abbs um but you can't if I type in
171. 39:03camera there's no way you can copy and paste these they they don't have it so you can copy and paste them so I could have typed them but I'm
172. 39:11lazy so what I did was I screenshotted them and then I uploaded them to to chat GPT and I said these are camera moves
173. 39:20please list them out so it wrote them all out so now it knows them right so that's that's what all these are um which kind of dug
174. 39:28that and then I said now do you know about the film Co a scoty and it says yes here's Co a scoty and did I spell it
175. 39:36right no I put a u in it whatever um but Jeffrey resio mic music by Philip Glass the title is from the Hy language meaning life out of
176. 39:45balance um so it's it's essentially a plotless dialogue free relying instead on visuals and music to convey the
177. 39:53themes and it it shows life out of balance and then there were follow-up films of pazi and nakaki I think it's called um were the were the
178. 40:02follow-ups um and then I said can you give me a shot of locations in that film and the kinds of shots used
179. 40:11and so it it it knows all the shots in the film because it was written so long ago oh wait hang on let me let me do
180. 40:18that for the Tik tocker sorry about that um and and so so it had all these shots and then what I said was here are the
181. 40:34techniques and I said if you were to distill the story down into a two-minute film and update the locations to be
182. 40:41modern today and today's issues create an outline that would tell an evocative story that is in honor of the original
183. 40:49not a replica of it right so I wanted to do like a a nod to KO and a scoty but not knock it off and so then it gave me
184. 40:57you know opening shot green lens melting glaciers um Urban expansion sequence 2 so it gave me a bunch of stuff which is kind of cool
185. 41:11um and then I said great now I'd like you to create individual shot prompts so so I wanted it to create individual prompts for the specific
186. 41:22locations gave it some specifics and then it did that so sequence one shot one sequence One Shot Two um it gave me kind of generic locations
187. 41:34and so I told it after it generated all this stuff I said no I want specific locations I don't want anything generic
188. 41:40in here give me specific locations um understood here's a list of specific locations so Buckeye Utah Katy Texas new Clark City
189. 41:50Philippines and so it even created so sequence one Urban expansion sequence two industrial farming and
190. 41:58deforestation um and so it went through and did this and so I'm I'm sort of building on this refining it refining
191. 42:05it um then I had it write the prompts and then I wanted it to do multiple shots within the prompts okay there's a
192. 42:12poll on tiktock hang on a sec let me take a look at it let's see are you second screening Kyle on your other device okay so here's
193. 42:25the question for that poll so in the upper corner if you're on Tik Tok in the upper corner over there is this poll
194. 42:32where the little blue the little blue and white thing on an angle is it's a clipboard if you're watching the stream
195. 42:40on one screen and then doing comments on the other screen just let us know that or if you're just watching it on one or
196. 42:45the other that's great all right let me just go look at comments here see if anyone has any questions over here was
197. 42:51this 40 or01 preview this was 40 so I just used 40 for this cuz I wanted it I wanted it to have access to the internet
198. 42:59although this film's so old that I'm sure all the information about this is is well in there um if I wasn't multitasking I'd
199. 43:09multiscreen um okay so what I ended up doing here this this was kind of [Music] cool at some point here I realized so so
200. 43:23I had it give me so like in KD Texas sequence One Shot 2 a sequence one shot 2B so it it labeled all of these prompts
201. 43:32you know in in sequence in the movie because I realized as I'm making all these prompts the the um keeping track of them was going to be
202. 43:41a [ __ ] nightmare right so I had it labeled them so that was kind of cool and then probably around this time I flipped over to 40 with
203. 44:00canvas and I said put those things in canvas and so if you don't know what canvas is canvas is if I click on this
204. 44:11now my my prompt is over here on the left and the actual shot list is over here on the right so this was really cool so then
205. 44:20what I tried to do so because all of these things were um were just Geographic shots right were just geography and Landscapes and things
206. 44:31like that um I wanted people too and so what I tried to do was I tried to have it um add people in here but it ended up
207. 44:41getting really confused it like it would give me additional shots but then it wouldn't label them and then at one
208. 44:46point it just stopped updating this canvas Al together so what I ended up doing was making a whole another canvas let me
209. 44:58this is another cool thing you can do you can balance these windows you can open this one wider
210. 45:16um so here's Coan scoty people closeups all right so it's like yes give me all the screens is 42% no I'm team Tik tock
211. 45:3257% okay so now I've got um a second canvas of shots D through f for each of the locations where it's just extreme
212. 45:45close-ups of people so what I did was I I I took the the the first canvas the one that had the locations and went to so here's the shot
213. 45:59list so I just started with Buckeye Arizona and I just copied I included the sequence in the shot because I wanted
214. 46:06that in the name of the prompt and so and it's got camera orbit right so it's using the camera moves from dream
215. 46:13machine and so here's the prompt so I copied this over to dream machine and I made these images so there's
216. 46:24one here's another one of the same thing this is one where I included I wanted to see if including that numbering screwed
217. 46:31up the prompt it didn't which was good and then here's like a completely unusable um you know morphing
218. 46:41tractor and this one was fine it's not a great shop but it was fine and then here's you know like a desert you know uh development here's
219. 46:52another development encroaching on a wheat field you know there's just a wheat field there's nothing in that shot
220. 46:59that's not interesting at all this is another one where the machine kind of morphs and does weird [ __ ]
221. 47:06um so what I noticed about this so all of these were just text to video in dream machine and so about the time I got to
222. 47:16these I'm just like I feel like all of these shots are just boring or or [ __ ] up they're just weird or they're
223. 47:24boring so then I was like well wait a minute because I've got these canvases I can just tell it to instead of writing
224. 47:35video prompts write me mid Journey prompts and so that's what I did so I basically said take this big long ass
225. 47:43shot list of video prompts and turn those into mid Journey prompts which I've got in another canvas so in this yeah so oh there's there's
226. 47:55the people closeups and then somewhere down here mid Journey static image prompts and so
227. 48:09now I've got all these same locations but these are now mid Journey prompts and so then I went to Mid journey and these are dramatically
228. 48:24better like dramatically better like look at that shot that's so cool like that and that's very if you if you
229. 48:31ever saw Kos scoty like that's the kind of shots that that they filmed right these crazy shots at Sunset you know crazy shapes on
230. 48:42screen you know just these are cool dramatic you know mid Journey's just better at composition
231. 48:57and so what I'm literally doing here like that's in the Philippines new Clark city in the Philippines really
232. 49:12amazing this was just one of the tests of the close-ups of the people and so and so literally what I'm doing is I'm going to chat
233. 49:23GPT let's see Katie Texas I think we got as far as as the Philippines right yeah this was the aerial shot of the
234. 49:29Philippines so then I just grab I grab the whole quote including um including the sequence number then I flip over to Mid
235. 49:42Journey pop it in there there's like the the title of the prompt is a bit duplicative so I just delete that but I leave the
236. 49:54uh the sequence number then I just hit submit then I go back to chat GPT grab the next one copy go back to Mid Journey
237. 50:07paste get rid of the that part of the prompt hit return and this is it so it's just kind of mindless like once you do
238. 50:16the once you do the work of figuring out what you want the story to be and have it fill in the story then you're just Off to the Races
239. 50:27so now we're going to Brazil copy back to Mid Journey paste we can see what it's creating here so there's there's that closeup of the
240. 50:42person that's weird that's weird that's weird that's weird but kind of cool those are the see like that's
241. 50:51really good so if I if I download this one let's go grab that one then I come over to Luma Labs grab that image that's it
242. 51:06there and just say um workers um let's see workers workers working and
243. 51:22then do camera pull out and submit and so this is basically it this is basically the process go grab
244. 51:43this copy it go over here oh did I not submit that no do that there failed unrecognized parameters
245. 52:08what all right that's another cool shot of construction oh these are cool
246. 52:34huh deforestation at its finest
247. 52:50[Music] Winston Hardy I thought the film quos scoty was pretty interesting at the time watched it a couple of times I actually
248. 53:05saw a version of it in New York City at the uh forget what the theater was on the upper upper west side in the
249. 53:1370s where um Philip glass's Orchestra played played it live while the movie played that was pretty cool [Music]
250. 53:30okay um let's see I'm in Tik Tok [Music] YouTube um all right so that's that's
251. 53:45kind of the process go to Mid Journey make those images jump over to Luma Labs so here's this shot right that'll look good in the film
252. 53:58there's a little bit of morphing at the top here but not bad enough that people would notice it because these these shots just go by like
253. 54:12that and this looks so much better than let's see like these boring things right like like that video right there
254. 54:25is just boring like like that's like what someone would film on their iPhone if they were just like you know in a
255. 54:32truck driving you know driving across the desert it doesn't look like film but you know these do like that's pretty

300. 1:06:19ideas and that's what that's I I've been kind of coming to a similar conclusion where it's like you've got this
301. 1:06:25incredibly powerful ideation machine it can do lots of other things but it's really good at ideating if you let
302. 1:06:33it and what I'm finding is that I'm the bottleneck to being able to do better work with AI because how I think is
303. 1:06:44limited and so I'm trying to force myself to do different [ __ ] right I'm trying to force myself to work in a way
304. 1:06:53that's not comfortable for me so just just having the machine vomit out a bunch of ideas and then just take take
305. 1:07:01those prompts and throw them into a video generation tool or an image generation tool and just see what comes
306. 1:07:07out and see if it turns in into anything coherent like I don't know that there's another way to learn how to do this
307. 1:07:14other than just [ __ ] throw all the [ __ ] at the wall and don't judge it right yeah how I'm doing this is not how
308. 1:07:24we've done creative in the past and how you plow Fields with a tractor powered by a steam engine is different than how
309. 1:07:33you plow a field field with a plow pulled by horses it's a different [ __ ] thing right and so so that's where we
310. 1:07:43are like we're we're we're in a place where where you can the the back and forth I had with someone on on uh on on
311. 1:07:50X was was essentially I said I said yeah like I'm trying not to use my brain anymore and I'm trying to reinvent my
312. 1:07:57creative process and his response was something like well not everyone's going to do that I'm like I know right you're
313. 1:08:05gonna have you're gonna have some people that say this is my creative process and I'm just going to keep doing it the way
314. 1:08:11I do it and then maybe I'll sprinkle in some AI tools within that but I'm never going to change this and then you're going to have
315. 1:08:19people that say okay I used to do it a certain way and let me experiment with it and I'll I'll try this new way and
316. 1:08:26they'll reinvent themselves and then you're going to have a third group of people who never had a creative process
317. 1:08:32they've never done anything creative in their life and they're going to do it completely [ __ ] different
318. 1:08:40so picture and picture Tik Tock wait oh yeah get rid of it yeah in fact Let Me Let Me Entertain You
319. 1:08:59so anyway some people get so down on AI music and art they claim it not to be art exactly and photographers when digital cameras came
320. 1:09:16out using your brain is overrated I I I what I find Bob is that using my brain is my brain is the choke
321. 1:09:28point like knowing how to use it is I'm the choke point not the AI the whole thing the whole thing about the whole thing about
322. 1:09:42um AI not being art I mean AI might not be art but a piece of AI art sold for 1.1 million dollars today so so having
323. 1:09:53having a an artist as a wife she has not sold any paintings for $1.1 million yet so so some people in the art
324. 1:10:02community are seeing AI art is Art um it's it's just another way for people to express themselves you
325. 1:10:12know creating video games didn't used to be considered an art art form but it is and that's that's pretty much accepted now and and you
326. 1:10:23know financially the video game industry is bigger than the film industry and and the AI art industry is probably going to
327. 1:10:30be big bigger than the video game industry it's just another transition every single time there's a new
328. 1:10:39technology in the history of humanity we've gone through this same [ __ ] and it's [ __ ] it's [ __ ] you can you can
329. 1:10:50sit there like this with your arms crossed and go I'm not going to use AI That's not real art but first of all your face looks like

338. 1:12:38can't write short stories all suck but film seems to be clear to me yeah it's just if you're visual you

341. 1:13:00might just need to stop thinking about it as words and just say well how would I describe the film that I see in my

343. 1:13:19and say you know here's the basic plot here's the visuals write it for me that's gonna piss the writers

353. 1:15:08creating right and I think that's what some of the comments earlier were um were well this this isn't real
354. 1:15:17creative because you just you just manifested it into being you know I totally disagree with that but as you get better with these tools
355. 1:15:30you can do remarkable things like like if I were decently competent at at coding with AI and decently competent
356. 1:15:37with film making with AI and decently competent with writing with AI and decently competent with molecular design
357. 1:15:44with AI like like we are going to get to the point that the people that choose to expand their capacity
358. 1:15:55are going to be able to literally choose the kinds of outputs the ways they want to express themselves and I find that tremendously
359. 1:16:06exciting but I also I agree with you Shane that that how I and I think how we as a community have normalized these tools
360. 1:16:17over the past two years is pretty remarkable like the fact that I could make I could make the fil film while I
361. 1:16:25was watching a football game I could make that film write the music edit it you know in I don't know what it took me
362. 1:16:31maybe 90 minutes maybe an hour I don't know maybe two hours but it was just kind of mindless prompting make images make them
363. 1:16:44into movies some of them suck some of them don't see see if you can make it better you know having it write that
364. 1:16:51whole script and then realizing that Luma lab's Dreamscapes text to video made kind of boring shots and then realizing oh I need to
365. 1:17:00make these all mid Journey prompts and then go to Mid journey and make more interesting images and now see if I can
366. 1:17:06turn those into interesting film shots and see if I get enough of those to put together it's just a different it's still creative problem
