114. 24:51the 303 prompt walk. a combination of a photography walk and a prompting class. And so I kind of prototyped building out
115. 25:01that course uh in in this sprint. So this is a 4-week sprint where today was the first day, but if you're part of the
116. 25:08mastermind, you'll have instant access to all of the recordings and the transcripts and the and the uh the presentations. Um
117. 25:17and it was it was a really really fun fun uh show today. So, there's three more weeks and over the over the
118. 25:25four-week sprint, you're going to make a micro course. And so, it could be a micro course you deliver in person. It
119. 25:32could be something you give on a webinar. It could be something you ultimately put on a learning management

132. 28:04Okay, good question. A lot of these a lot of these models are functionally interchangeable at this point.
133. 28:17But the thing that Perplexity Pro well the thing that Perplexity has that that others don't have is that it started its life
134. 28:27as this hybrid between a web search and a large language model. So if you want to do research, perplexity is really
135. 28:36good because it's really good at citations. It started its life as this weird combo between search and large
136. 28:43language models. All of the large language models at this point have deep deep research built into them. So you
137. 28:50can you can do a lot of the same stuff. Um but Perplexity just has a different feel. It's just it's just optimized for
138. 28:57search. Now you can get a year of Perplexity Pro for free. If you go to your Venmo account, it's Venmo, is that right? You go to your
139. 29:07Venmo account on mobile or PayPal. And then you go into your subscriptions area. Is that right? I'm I'm relying on producer Brandon
140. 29:22here. I can't remember the details. Yeah. And then you will see Perplexity. And if you basically if you connect
141. 29:28either your Venmo account or your PayPal account to Perplexity, you get a year for free of Perplexity Pro. And then you
142. 29:37also get um access to their Comet web browser, which is which which has got Perplexity built into the web browser
143. 29:45itself, which if you don't if you don't really know what Perplexity is, you're like, "So what does that mean?" What it
144. 29:52what it basically means is you have a web browser that's just like Chrome, just like a regular web browser, but you
145. 29:57now have this sidebar that's a large language model that can search any tabs you have access to. So if you have if
146. 30:05you're logged into your email, for example, you could have it go search in your email for, I don't know, some important email that
147. 30:14you know is in there somewhere. Anyway, all right. Fantastic. Fantastic. Um, so that's pretty cool. If you haven't
148. 30:25played with perplexity, it's worth worth playing with. Um, I I got I'm get I can't I can't make words with my tongue.
149. 30:39I get I got I get I got um I get I got I got a little inspired like watching all these old videos. What I realized is
150. 30:50that a number of those videos that were really nice, like that Ancel Adam one, Adams one where it was just the black
151. 30:56and white photos of of landscapes and things like that. Um, those were just me [ __ ] around in image generation tools
152. 31:05and then flipping them over to a video generation tool. Um, oh did it wasn't that long. I did a short
153. 31:14little video with the with a little dude in Midjourney, but I haven't really I haven't really used MidJourney to make
154. 31:20one of those. So, I thought maybe we'll go over and do that tonight. Is go to MidJourney and play around with stylesheets, go
155. 31:27discover some um some uh whatever you call it, some new looks and feels. Maybe come up with a concept of the kinds of images we
156. 31:39want to put together in some cool style. and then turn that into a music video. You can do that if you want. I don't
157. 31:48know what the hell do you want to do. Tik Tok pin. I'm a middle school teacher. Hey, Tony. Tony Williams. And I
158. 31:55teach a class on AI. Far out. Thank God. I I am so exhausted with our educational institutions um
159. 32:09staring in the face of the world's greatest most profound knowledge tool in the history of humanity and then going,
160. 32:18"It's okay. We've got a we've we've got an AI detector. We're not going to let our kids use that that AI slop." It just
161. 32:25it it blows my mind. So kudos to you for teaching a course on AI. Um, I can't imagine. That must be an uphill battle.
162. 32:32And I bet you get an earful from parents. And if there's anything I can ever do to help, you know, uh, bring me
163. 32:39along. You want me to give the, uh, the school administration an earful, I am happy to do it. Oh man, it is so silly. It's just

165. 33:04know why I was really tired last night and so I just went to bed and I'm just sort of making images on mid Journey. I
166. 33:11kept falling asleep and then I'd wake up and I'd make some more images and then I just animated a bunch of them before I went to sleep. Um,
167. 33:23the parent of of three students would love it. That's awesome. Perplexity reminds me of Nelly from Little House on the Prairie. That's
168. 33:37really funny. Oh, you know, it's funny, Silver Fox. It's funny you say that. Um, so if you're if you're new here and if you're new to AI,
169. 33:49one of the one of the questions that that may be burning in your brain is which AI is best. And um, what I can
170. 33:58tell you at this point, we're we're kind of we're we're coming on three years into the generative AI era, right? This
171. 34:06was this this all started this channel started and my interest in AI really got lit on fire when Chat GPT launched,
172. 34:14right? So, November 30th, 2022. So, we're coming up on the the three-year anniversary of Chat GPT. At this point,
173. 34:23any AI tool that you use is probably way more capable than you have than you can imagine. So, it literally doesn't matter which tool
174. 34:35you choose. If you want to do open- source ones because you believe in that. If you want to do open AI because they're the first and
175. 34:44best. If you want to do Claude because they're working on safety. If you want to do perplexity because it's better at
176. 34:50at uh research, whatever it might be, it really doesn't matter. What's starting to happen is that why you will choose
177. 35:00a model to start working with is you'll like its personality. As weird as that sounds, they've all got
178. 35:10personalities. And you know, Silver Fox saying it reminds Perplexity reminds reminds her of Nelly from from Little
179. 35:17House on the Prairie. Yeah, there's Claude has a kind of warmth to it. chat GPT is is a bit kind of smarmy and
180. 35:27know-it-all. Um, yeah, perplexity's got this weird sort of formalness to it. Gemini is totally schizophrenic.
181. 35:34Sometimes Gemini models are super cold and analytical and other times they're absolutely creative and amazing. And so
182. 35:42the only way to discover that is just to play play play. And what'll happen is a good exercise to do is go go set up
183. 35:53four or five tabs of different models and just get free access any ones you have free access to. Set up a bunch of
184. 36:00different tabs and then go to like chat GPT and put one prompt in and choose a bunch of different models in chat GPT.
185. 36:09Choose GPT5 fast thinking mini thinking GPT40. do like four same prompt four different times in chat GBT. Then flip to
186. 36:20Perplexity and do it. Then flip to Claude and do it. Then flip to Gemini and do it. Then flip to Meta if you want
187. 36:26to do that or if you have access to co-pilot with Microsoft and just go like literally just go compare the outputs.
188. 36:32It'll blow you away because they just they absolutely have personalities. So Oh wow. Um yeah, Brandon's kids are
189. 36:41still talking to Pi. So PI was one of the first um voice you could talk back and forth with it. Um and yeah, when you
190. 36:49imprint on some of these models, they they they imprint kind of like personalities do. So anyway, all right, let me share my screen.
191. 36:59Tik Tok pin GPT just launched its medical models. Really? Wait, did they just launch that or is that they they mentioned that
192. 37:10a like a week or so ago? Is that the same thing? [Music]
193. 37:27Um, the medical stuff is is intense. Um, it's going to be good. We should play with that with the medical model. Yeah, we could play with
194. 37:39that. Um, let me show you some of the things I made in uh in MidJourney. I think that one's just beautiful.
195. 37:54I mean, that cool little cool little Jambi. Oops, I just launched Po the Po app. Jesus, I haven't used that in forever. Oh, it still works.
196. 38:06All right, there's that. So, there's four of those. These I didn't make into videos yet. These are images,
197. 38:15but I'm just going to show you a bunch of images here, and then I'm going to show you how we got to all these. So, if
198. 38:21you don't know MidJourney, um MidJourney is is kind of the the OG image generation. Um it started out as a Discord server
199. 38:34and then it became a website. and they absolutely have the most artistic outputs of any of the image models. Um,
200. 38:43they also just got their asses sued by I think it's Warner Brothers for was it Warner Brothers for Spider-Man and something else. Um,
201. 38:53but it their their work is absolutely beautiful like what what you can get out of it. So all of these everything that I'm showing you here,
202. 39:10I want to show you how I how I generated all these different looks and feels. All these different This is all in the same
203. 39:18single word prompt, by the way. Or it might have been a short little phrase. Same prompt, just using different styles.
204. 39:30Isn't this remarkable? I love this one. I love there. For me, there's something about models that generate analog looking outputs
205. 39:41that just blows my mind because it kind of flies in the face of, you know, when you when you when you think about an AI
206. 39:48an AI image, you think like all that purple and pink cyberpunk neon [ __ ] And you see something like this and
207. 39:57you're like, wait a minute, that's not AI. It is. That's a gorgeous image. All right, that I think was different.
208. 40:13Okay, so starting here, all these images I just showed you, all the same prompt. So, let me show you what we did here.
209. 40:21The prompt was letting things go. And so, we'll do a different prompt tonight. Who's Someone give me a prompt. Give me some esoteric
210. 40:29esoteric some sort of prompt that might be interesting. I I'll lean on Silver Fox. If you're there, Silver Fox, give
211. 40:35me some sort of cool one one to three word prompt that's deep and esoteric. Just keep swimming. All right, I'm going
212. 40:51with source camp. Source camp's in. Just keep swimming. Uh, swimming. Okay. So, that's going to be our prompt.
213. 41:06And actually, I'm going to do two things. So, so we're going to go look at our settings. Um, so we're going to do
214. 41:1316 by9 wide image. I've got my stylization set at 150. I'm going to leave that there. Weirdness at zero,
215. 41:21variety at zero. I've got it in draft mode so these happen faster and we get uh don't get use up as many credits.
216. 41:31Um just keep swimming. And then I've got personalization turned off. So if you're over here, you've got um your settings
217. 41:39are right there beside the submit button. And you've got personalization right here. Draft mode right here. All right.
218. 41:48And so so I'm going to submit this. Just keep swimming without personalization. No stylesheet. And then I'm going to turn on

225. 43:10what is personalization, over here on the lefth hand menu bar, you've got personalization and mood boards. They're
226. 43:18kind of variations on a theme. But if you go to personalize, you can create um you can turn personalization on and off here. You can
227. 43:28also do it in the upper right hand corner. And then you can create global profiles or you can create different
228. 43:34profiles if you want. But what happens is if I click on this profile, what it's going to do is it's going to pop up two
229. 43:41images. So the way personalization works is you tell Midjourney what images you like. I didn't create these images. It's
230. 43:49just feeding these to me. And so you can do this on your numeric keypad. Um if you hit the one, you're going to vote
231. 43:56for the image on the left. If you vote for If you hit two, you're going to vote for the image on the right. And if you
232. 44:02hit three, you're going to skip this pair. So basically what we're doing is we're telling the AI what we like. So I'm going to go two, one,
233. 44:11two, uh three. I'm not going to vote for either of those. Three. Three. Three. Three. I don't like any of those. Two.
234. 44:23Um. Oh, that's interesting. I like both of those. One. Three. One. Two. Right. So, you just vote. You just vote. And so, I don't

331. 1:02:40I think there's a guilt that people have with AI art that it's like, well, I didn't put in a lot of time, so

339. 1:04:11doing interesting work in AI, that's not how they work. It's not how they work at all. They're sitting there kind of like Rick Rubin

341. 1:04:27how we could do this." And he says to the engineer, "I want you to go do the thing with the dials that makes it sound
342. 1:04:33like we're underwater." And then he says to the bass player, "Can you make that more thumpy?" And then he says to the to the singer,
343. 1:04:42"You know what? Let's put a different mic there. Don't we have one of those mics that makes it sound a little tinier?

380. 1:12:34know, cool locations that you can walk in downtown Denver. You have people take pictures and then you teach them to
381. 1:12:41prompt into AI and do something cool with those images. And what I realized is you could you could do it
382. 1:12:47multimodally where you start out with them taking a picture and then you output another picture but in a
383. 1:12:52different style. But then maybe the next stop rather than outputting a picture you output a poem or you output the
384. 1:12:59story of the picture that you just took and then maybe that leads to other things. So that's actually kind of a cool idea.

475. 1:30:37but I was I was taking guitar lessons and I don't I've never really taken guitar lessons. I mean, I only was
476. 1:30:43taking lessons with this guy for probably a month or eight weeks or whatever. And we're playing songs and he's he's
477. 1:30:52teaching me chords or I think he might have even been playing chords. and he was talking about music theory and major
478. 1:30:58versus minor chords and he was playing this and he was playing that and he was just going through the chords
479. 1:31:03and as he was playing a sequence I said wait a minute stop stop I said why does that what's with that chord and he said
480. 1:31:17oh you can't see anything oh sorry I need a shot collar sorry [Laughter] Sorry, Brandon.
481. 1:31:35Oh, I didn't realize I was on the wrong tab. So, anyway, so I've I've been So, what I was doing just now is there there
482. 1:31:43there are four versions of this. There's this one. It's kind of cool. There's this one. It's a little weird. There's this one.
483. 1:31:55And they kind of separate nice and then you get this pile of them. Like I That's the one I selected. And then this one is
484. 1:32:01just not good. And so what I was saying is why did I choose this one? Like what is it about this one that made me choose
485. 1:32:08it? So So I'm taking lessons with this guitar teacher and he's playing these chords and I said, "Wait, wait, wait.
486. 1:32:14What's what's that one chord?" and he played it and I said, "Why does that one sound better than all the others?" And
487. 1:32:21his response was, he goes, "Oh, it doesn't." He goes, "That's just your musical taste." And it was the first time I realized
488. 1:32:34that like I love minor chords. It's funny. Champy sings at a minor. Um, [Music] it's out of tune, but
489. 1:32:49there's C major, A minor, and it was it was an A minor that he played. And I'm like, why is that so much more
490. 1:32:56beautiful? And he just goes, that's your musical taste. And I had never I had never really considered that I had a musical point of view.
491. 1:33:06like it felt it felt obvious to me that that was the better chord and like so the music I tend to like tends to be depressing
492. 1:33:20singer so I like storytelling I like minor chords I like clear voices I like you know simple music and to me it's inspiring and uplifting
493. 1:33:33and amazing and when I put on the music I like with my co-founder of my business. Like if we're in New York,
494. 1:33:39we're, you know, driving around to clients and [ __ ] like that, I'll put on my music. Within 30 seconds, her response is, "This is kind of
495. 1:33:47depressing. Can you put on something else?" And it's just it's just that's how we are. So whether you're aware of it or not, you've got a
496. 1:33:59creative point of view. You have a point of view. And so what we're doing here when we're sort of navigating through
497. 1:34:06all these creative modes and midjourney is we're just exercising our creative point of view. And I think the art
498. 1:34:15moving forward is going to be to really hone that really understand what you like and what makes you happy and what

540. 1:42:44images. Generate, generate, generate, generate, generate, generate, generate, generate. And then what she would do is
541. 1:42:49go back through all of the videos that she generated and pick the ones she liked and and sort of drop them into a
542. 1:42:55folder and and then she would edit them together and and either write music or find music to put behind them. So that's
543. 1:43:02the same basic idea here. So if we click on this, let me just go through these quick and I'll just show you what an edit might look like.
544. 1:43:21And like imagine these things cross cross blending into one another slowly where it's just like they just keep morphing one into the other.
545. 1:43:35And like when do you put the orange one in? When do you put in the pop of color? Is that at the end? Is that at the
546. 1:43:39beginning? Is it in the middle? Do you put do you put all these things that have spirals in them together? Do
547. 1:43:46you put the ones that have people in them? Are there ones that are more like dance than more like swimming that you put together?
