28:16 point.
28:17 But the thing that Perplexity Pro well
28:20 the thing that Perplexity has that that
28:22 others
28:24 don't have is that it started its life
28:28 as this hybrid between a web search and
28:31 a large language model. So if you want
28:34 to do research, perplexity is really
28:36 good because it's really good at
28:38 citations. It started its life as this
28:40 weird combo between search and large
28:43 language models. All of the large
28:46 language models at this point have deep
28:48 deep research built into them. So you
28:50 can you can do a lot of the same stuff.
28:53 Um but Perplexity just has a different
28:55 feel. It's just it's just optimized for
28:57 search. Now you can get a year of

29:54 web browser that's just like Chrome,
29:56 just like a regular web browser, but you
29:58 now have this sidebar that's a large
30:00 language model that can search any tabs
30:02 you have access to. So if you have if
30:05 you're logged into your email, for
30:07 example, you could have it go search in
30:09 your email for,
30:11 I don't know, some important email that
30:14 you know is in there somewhere. Anyway,
30:17 all right. Fantastic. Fantastic. Um,
30:23 so that's pretty cool. If you haven't
30:26 played with perplexity, it's worth worth
30:28 playing with. Um, I I got I'm get I
30:35 can't I can't make words with my tongue.
30:40 I get I got I get I got um I get I got I
30:45 got a little inspired like watching all
30:47 these old videos. What I realized is
30:50 that a number of those videos that were
30:53 really nice, like that Ancel Adam one,
30:55 Adams one where it was just the black
30:57 and white photos of of landscapes and
31:00 things like that. Um, those were just me
31:03 [ __ ] around in image generation tools
31:05 and then flipping them over to a video
31:07 generation tool. Um, oh did
31:13 it wasn't that long. I did a short
31:15 little video with the with a little dude
31:17 in Midjourney, but I haven't really I
31:19 haven't really used MidJourney to make
31:20 one of those. So, I thought maybe we'll
31:22 go over and do that tonight. Is go to
31:23 MidJourney and
31:26 play around with stylesheets, go
31:28 discover some um
31:31 some uh whatever you call it,
31:34 some new looks and feels. Maybe come up
31:37 with a concept of the kinds of images we
31:40 want to put together in some cool style.
31:43 and then turn that into a music video.
31:46 You can do that if you want. I don't
31:48 know what the hell do you want to do.

33:51 that may be burning in your brain is
33:53 which AI is best. And um, what I can
33:58 tell you at this point, we're we're kind
34:00 of we're we're coming on three years
34:03 into the generative AI era, right? This
34:06 was this this all started this channel
34:09 started and my interest in AI really got
34:12 lit on fire when Chat GPT launched,
34:14 right? So, November 30th, 2022. So,

34:28 more capable
34:30 than you have than you can imagine. So,
34:34 it literally doesn't matter which tool
34:36 you choose. If you want to do open-
34:38 source ones because you believe in that.
34:40 If you want to do
34:42 open AI because they're the first and
34:44 best. If you want to do Claude because
34:47 they're working on safety. If you want
34:48 to do perplexity because it's better at
34:50 at uh research, whatever it might be, it
34:53 really doesn't matter. What's starting
34:55 to happen is that
34:58 why you will choose
35:00 a model to start working with is
35:05 you'll like its personality.
35:08 As weird as that sounds, they've all got
35:11 personalities. And you know, Silver Fox
35:13 saying it reminds Perplexity reminds
35:15 reminds her of Nelly from from Little
35:18 House on the Prairie. Yeah, there's
35:21 Claude has a kind of warmth to it. chat
35:23 GPT is is a bit kind of smarmy and
35:28 know-it-all. Um, yeah, perplexity's got
35:31 this weird sort of formalness to it.
35:33 Gemini is totally schizophrenic.
35:35 Sometimes Gemini models are super cold
35:37 and analytical and other times they're
35:39 absolutely creative and amazing. And so
35:42 the only way to discover that is just to
35:45 play play play. And what'll happen is
35:50 a good exercise to do is go go set up
35:53 four or five tabs of different models
35:56 and just get free access any ones you
35:58 have free access to. Set up a bunch of
36:01 different tabs and then go to like chat
36:03 GPT and put one prompt in and choose a
36:07 bunch of different models in chat GPT.
36:09 Choose GPT5 fast thinking mini thinking
36:14 GPT40.
36:16 do like four same prompt four different
36:19 times in chat GBT. Then flip to
36:21 Perplexity and do it. Then flip to
36:22 Claude and do it. Then flip to Gemini
36:24 and do it. Then flip to Meta if you want
36:26 to do that or if you have access to
36:28 co-pilot with Microsoft and just go like
36:31 literally just go compare the outputs.
36:33 It'll blow you away because they just
36:35 they absolutely have personalities.

36:44 the first um voice you could talk back
36:47 and forth with it. Um and yeah, when you
36:50 imprint on some of these models, they

38:54 but it their their work is absolutely
38:57 beautiful
39:00 like what what you can get out of it. So
39:02 all of these everything that I'm showing
39:04 you here,
39:11 I want to show you how I how I generated
39:14 all these different looks and feels. All
39:16 these different This is all in the same
39:19 single word prompt, by the way.

39:24 phrase. Same prompt,

43:26 personalization on and off here. You can
43:28 also do it in the upper right hand
43:30 corner. And then you can create global
43:33 profiles or you can create different
43:35 profiles if you want. But what happens
43:37 is if I click on this profile, what it's
43:40 going to do is it's going to pop up two
43:41 images. So the way personalization works
43:44 is you tell Midjourney what images you
43:47 like. I didn't create these images. It's
43:49 just feeding these to me. And so you can
43:51 do this on your numeric keypad. Um if
43:54 you hit the one, you're going to vote
43:56 for the image on the left. If you vote
43:58 for If you hit two, you're going to vote
44:01 for the image on the right. And if you
44:02 hit three, you're going to skip this
44:03 pair. So basically what we're doing is
44:06 we're telling the AI what we like. So
44:08 I'm going to go two, one,
44:12 two,
44:14 uh three. I'm not going to vote for
44:17 either of those. Three. Three.

45:26 that they used and you can reuse that.
45:28 And so it's it's all this sort of in
45:31 incestuous, you know, inspiration porn
45:36 where you just grab images that you like
45:39 and go make your own. And and now they
45:40 default this to the video tab because um
45:44 MidJourney can now do video.
45:47 But they've added this new thing called
45:50 styles. So, if you click styles,
45:53 there's over here in the top left, it it
45:56 defaults us to the top styles of the
45:58 day. You can also
46:02 click on the ones that you like. I guess
46:03 you can give thumbs up on ones that you
46:05 like. You can see which ones are the hot
46:08 ones, which are similar to the top ones
46:10 of the day. And then the button that I
46:12 like up here is random. So, just click
46:14 on random styles.

46:21 through this list. These are all just
46:23 sref. If if you know know what an sref

1:00:43 school and they're still doodling and
1:00:45 the art teacher says, "You should go to
1:00:47 art school. I cuz I'm a doodler.
1:00:50 I'm going to become an artist cuz I
1:00:52 doodle."
1:00:53 Then they go to art school and they
1:00:55 learn about this and they that and they
1:00:57 just jamming [ __ ] in their head
1:01:01 and it's all being embedded
1:01:04 not in its original form in some sort of
1:01:07 weird matrix of electrical signals,
1:01:11 right?
1:01:12 And then at some point you're walking
1:01:15 down the street and you see a reflection
1:01:17 in a puddle and you look at it funny and
1:01:20 all of your little synapses go
1:01:23 and they connect a bunch of [ __ ] that

1:01:27 connected and you're like I need to take
1:01:29 a picture of that and then I'm going to
1:01:30 put a rubber duck on it and a ocean
1:01:32 liner. I'm going to do that in
1:01:34 Photoshop. And like we have that idea
1:01:38 then we go back to Photoshop. We take
1:01:40 the picture. We go back to Photoshop. We
1:01:41 go find a clip art ocean liner. We put
1:01:44 it in there and now we have art
1:01:46 and we call that creative.

1:02:06 together? Well, a bunch of [ __ ] was put

1:02:16 and someone took the training part of
1:02:18 the data that was from like Renaissance
1:02:20 paintings where they painted a bunch of
1:02:22 other [ __ ]
1:02:24 and they get smashed together into some
1:02:26 [ __ ] crazy straw of a brain and this
1:02:29 came out.
1:02:30 How's that different?
1:02:37 It's not different.
1:02:41 I think there's a guilt that people have
1:02:44 with AI art that it's like, well, I
1:02:46 didn't put in a lot of time, so
1:02:47 therefore it's not good. Photographers
1:02:49 don't have that guilt.

1:03:08 So, I I assume what you're saying is the
1:03:10 machine itself can't be creative.

1:03:47 the things that gets missed in every one
1:03:48 of these conversations
1:03:52 is the person that's in the driver's
1:03:54 seat.

1:03:58 creative community right now is that if
1:04:00 you use AI, you're a talentless, lazy
1:04:04 hack. That all you're doing is pushing a
1:04:06 button.
1:04:10 And the people that I know that are
1:04:12 doing interesting work in AI, that's not
1:04:14 how they work.
1:04:16 It's not how they work at all. They're
1:04:18 sitting there kind of like Rick Rubin
1:04:20 with some idea of what he wants a song
1:04:23 to be or he'll listen to a song and he's
1:04:25 like, "Okay, I kind of have an idea for
1:04:27 how we could do this." And he says to
1:04:30 the engineer, "I want you to go do the
1:04:32 thing with the dials that makes it sound
1:04:33 like we're underwater." And then he says
1:04:36 to the bass player, "Can you make that
1:04:37 more thumpy?"
1:04:40 And then he says to the to the singer,
1:04:42 "You know what? Let's put a different
1:04:44 mic there. Don't we have one of those
1:04:46 mics that makes it sound a little
1:04:47 tinier?
1:04:50 You could argue that Rick Rubin's doing

1:04:54 right? He's just prompting a room full
1:04:57 of people.

1:12:14 had was so if you if you weren't here

1:12:18 called the 303 prompt walk. So 303 is
1:12:21 the Denver area code, the 303 prompt
1:12:24 walk. And what it is, it's a combination
1:12:26 of a walking tour, a photographic
1:12:29 walking tour and prompting lessons. And
1:12:32 so the basic idea is you go to, you
1:12:34 know, cool locations that you can walk
1:12:37 in downtown Denver. You have people take
1:12:39 pictures and then you teach them to
1:12:41 prompt into AI and do something cool
1:12:43 with those images. And what I realized
1:12:46 is you could you could do it
1:12:47 multimodally where you start out with
1:12:50 them taking a picture and then you
1:12:51 output another picture but in a
1:12:53 different style. But then maybe the next
1:12:55 stop rather than outputting a picture
1:12:57 you output a poem or you output the
1:12:59 story of the picture that you just took
1:13:02 and then maybe that leads to other
1:13:04 things. So that's actually kind of a
1:13:07 cool idea.
1:13:09 I think I'll write a song too. Yeah,

1:42:42 just popping in a prompt and generating
1:42:44 images. Generate, generate, generate,
1:42:46 generate, generate, generate, generate,
1:42:47 generate. And then what she would do is
1:42:50 go back through all of the videos that
1:42:51 she generated and pick the ones she
1:42:53 liked and and sort of drop them into a
1:42:56 folder and and then she would edit them
1:42:59 together and and either write music or
1:43:01 find music to put behind them. So that's
1:43:02 the same basic idea here. So if we click
1:43:06 on this, let me just go through these
1:43:09 quick and I'll just show you what an
1:43:10 edit might look like.
1:43:21 And like imagine these things cross
1:43:23 cross blending into one another slowly
1:43:30 where it's just like they just keep
1:43:31 morphing
1:43:32 one into the other.
1:43:35 And like when do you put the orange one
1:43:37 in? When do you put in the pop of color?
