0:13 all right let's 0:18 go let's go over here to 0:29 x.com 0:32 hello 0:34 hello control Alman delete thanks Ted 0:37 for making that 0:39 image I'm like I got to make an image 0:41 for this oh wait let me go check the the 0:44 Discord Ted's right there on it holy 0:47 crap holy 0:49 crap what is going on what is not going 0:55 on let me see what's going on here 0:58 someone liked that I said I was G about 1:01 Brockman 1:03 quitting just crazy intriguing 1:09 Theory oh yeah the Intriguing Theory 1:12 some engineer wrote 1:15 that 1:17 um Alman announcing the GPT store and 1:21 revenue sharing was a premature 1:24 announcement um yeah I know oh I got to 1:28 change my shirt I can't see a thing May 1:30 what's happening Matias good to see you 1:33 jpt ninja yo what's happening what is 1:36 going to 1:38 happen I know everything well as you 1:40 know Sam was always jealous of me I 1:43 think I think what this could be is the 1:47 board heard that he and I were in a 1:51 tiff and they didn't they they weren't 1:53 settling for that they're like Hey 1:54 listen you got this tick tocker he's all 1:57 sorts upset that he doesn't get early 1:59 access to the the features Sam and Sam 2:01 was like he's too goodlook and uh I 2:05 think they fired him because of it I 2:07 think they fired him because of it it's 2:09 it's 2:10 sad but hey man Sam you got competition 2:14 buddy okay I'm going to go change my 2:16 shirt it's probably it's there's going 2:18 to be a lot of screaming like just 2:20 people like oh my God look at the 2:22 beauty so anyway I feel bad about it but 2:25 I'll be back we'll talk about 2:29 it 3:03 all right now I can read the text all 3:06 right so let's 3:09 uh if you're wondering if I have more 3:12 news than you do I do 3:15 not but I do want let's see I got to 3:19 rearrange things here a bit cuz I'm 3:21 going to have the Twitter open so I 3:24 don't know so so for those of you that 3:26 don't 3:27 know uh Sam mman was fired by the board 3:31 thank you Sher appreciate that um Greg 3:34 Alman or Greg Brockman just quit 3:41 um crazy crazy 3:45 crazy Greg Greg was the president and 3:48 co-founder of open AI Along With Sam 3:52 Alman who was the CEO these are the guys 3:55 that 3:56 effectively 3:58 invented the thing that has transformed 4:01 you know all of our lives in crazy ways 4:04 and has upended the entire 4:08 Tech uh 4:12 industry and 4:14 uh it was a non ceremonial you know no 4:19 news of it coming it just happened boom 4:21 bang Bing Bang Boom 4:24 so if it's something 4:27 like Sam went rogue and a announced a 4:31 revenue sharing thing that might not 4:34 have been financially 4:36 sustainable I could see it being that 4:40 um I watched a tick tocker named CJ 4:43 Fletcher that does some testing at open 4:46 Ai and his theory is that Sam was on the 4:49 take secretly from either the Microsoft 4:52 deal or something like 4:55 that everyone wants to know what he lied 4:57 about yeah I don't know I mean you 4:59 started I'm just starting early because 5:02 are you late no you're not late um I I 5:05 kind of went rogue here I went rogue 5:07 like the open AI board and 5:10 uh you know what it you know what it was 5:12 Be not Afraid is um like everyone was 5:16 asking me questions on on my Tik Tok on 5:18 LinkedIn on you know all over the place 5:21 so I figured I'd just come here and 5:23 ramble I don't know [ __ ] I don't know 5:24 more than anyone else does um just got 5:28 off the live covering covering mman 5:34 news who whose news was 5:37 it 5:39 will did you learn anything other than 5:42 he was let go cuz he didn't tell the 5:43 board something okay good because I'm 5:46 traumatized after last night and now 5:48 today I know I know first like the 5:51 threat of me being permaban from Tik Tok 5:54 I mean listen Sam mman being fired 5:57 whatever like we'll get over that but me 5:58 losing this Tik Tok channnel holy [ __ ] 6:01 that's big news so it didn't happen it 6:05 was a mistake Tik Tock 6:08 apologized by accepting my 6:12 appeal Thank You Be not 6:14 Afraid yeah but this like like this 6:20 is I mean open AI was feeling decently 6:23 Invincible um I don't know if you saw 6:26 but yesterday or today might even been 6:29 today I almost did a video on it Google 6:33 announced that their Gemini GPT 4 killer 6:37 will not be out until at least the first 6:40 quarter so they're finding it harder to 6:44 beat gp4 than they thought I think they 6:47 thought they had that thing licked and 6:49 it turns out they didn't 6:51 apparently um so they were looking 6:55 pretty bad open AI was looking like 6:58 [ __ ] rock stars you you know they 7:00 delivered multimodal they delivered 7:02 these gpts which were so popular it took 7:04 down their 7:05 servers 7:09 um and now I'm wondering you know if 7:13 they if they pulled down GPT plus 7:15 registrations because some of this [ __ ] 7:18 was boiling maybe this stuff was boiling 7:20 for the past week and it just came to a 7:23 head today but I don't know I don't know 7:26 um it like it seems to be a universal 7:28 shock and the fact that Greg Brockman 7:30 quit um the other co-founder the fact 7:32 that he quit um so so my 7:38 initial my initial speculation was if if 7:40 they announced something that that quick 7:43 that maybe Sam was trying to end around 7:44 them and they caught wind of it and so 7:46 they got rid of him 7:50 but if Brockman quit that that that 7:54 sounds feels like a protest quit so then 7:56 that says to me that the the board is up 7:58 to something so I don't [ __ ] know I 8:01 don't 8:02 know I do not 8:04 know let's 8:06 see see if anyone has any thoughts in 8:09 here or any news the blue bear was very 8:11 much the same 8:13 scene from The Shining burned in my head 8:18 what what you almost got banned yeah aut 8:21 so last night I was playing with this 8:23 thing I wonder if I still have it live 8:25 in my browser cuz I tried logging into 8:28 it today from another browser 8:31 and it did not work is it still going 8:35 here no they shut it 8:38 down that's probably a good 8:41 thing so what happened was so it it's a 8:44 technology that you draw in one window 8:46 and it it renders in real time with 8:49 whatever your prompt is in the other 8:50 window so if you draw like a circle 8:52 it'll be the sun and the sky you know 8:54 over mountains right and then one of the 8:57 input types was 9:00 webcam so I turned on my webcam and it 9:03 was just this amazing sort of 9:05 performance art thing where like as I 9:08 moved this image would change and then 9:11 people on the live were telling me you 9:13 know make it Bob Dylan make it messy 9:15 make it you know just you know a 9:17 dinosaur and a skateboard and so when I 9:20 did a dinosaur and a skateboard I said a 9:22 skinny dinosaur on a skateboard and and 9:26 it temporarily like went through a 9:28 series of like skinny women like like 9:32 like art like paintings right I was in 9:34 the painting style and for like I don't 9:37 know two seconds or 3 seconds the the 9:40 woman in the painting her boobies were 9:42 out I don't know if I can even say that 9:44 word and and shortly after that it was 9:48 just like boom and the message I got was 9:50 you're permanently banned and I was like 9:53 what you [ __ ] kidding so I 9:56 immediately appealed and said you know 9:58 this isn't right this should be allowed 10:01 whatever whatever I said which you know 10:03 and then like 3 minutes later I tried to 10:05 go live and I went live and then after 10:07 after that um I they basically said your 10:10 appeal was accepted so so I don't think 10:13 it wasn't it was I I was not in you know 10:17 all that much danger but it's Tik Tok 10:19 you just don't [ __ ] know right it's 10:21 it's an AI algorithm that says if 10:23 boobies 10:24 [Music] 10:27 then you know they're trying to trying 10:30 to do it 10:32 so 10:35 um let's make some gpts we might do that 10:38 I want to I want to just I want to take 10:42 I'll do that as we get closer to 8 It's 10:44 s now my time I just want to spend like 10:48 an hour or so just letting Twitter do 10:51 its thing 10:53 and see if there's any new no any new 10:58 news 11:00 if anyone sees anything or knows 11:02 anything actually you know what now that 11:04 um now that Alman doesn't have a job why 11:08 don't see if one of you could just reach 11:10 out to him tell him to join the live 11:11 tonight maybe we can just ask 11:13 him tick has been Banning a lot of AI 11:15 accounts including mines oh interesting 11:19 um no this definitely wasn't AI wasn't 11:22 an AI thing um do you mean they're 11:25 banning accounts that are like using AI 11:27 generated content like automated content 11:29 that doesn't surprise me crazy glad 11:32 you're still here yeah me too oops 11:37 wait there we 11:39 go so there's a wait how do I make this 11:47 go one of the mods just put up a survey 11:50 and I couldn't figure out how to launch 11:52 it so wait here it is wait oh it just 11:55 went away again pop it back up there 11:57 I'll put it up okay we got two minutes 12:02 so what what got what got Sam Alman can 12:04 so your your options are so this is 12:06 total speculation survey nonprofits 12:09 versus profit AGI is alive and they 12:12 didn't and he didn't tell the board 12:14 Mastermind with grock International 12:18 Trade all right so go ahead and vote up 12:21 there I don't think it's any of 12:23 those non it well nonprofits versus 12:26 profit there's there's some version of 12:28 that 12:30 I doubt they would have canned him if he 12:32 had side 12:34 deals this 12:36 quickly I have a feeling this was 12:39 something like something like the 12:41 engineer said where maybe someone on the 12:44 board said Sam you know don't don't 12:46 launch [ __ ] until it's ready and maybe 12:48 explicitly said something about the GPT 12:51 store rev sharing and he went rogue I 12:53 don't know I do not 12:56 know it's crazy crazy 13:00 crazy all right there's only two votes 13:03 go vote 13:04 everybody go vote what why did SL get 13:10 canned everybody seems to think it's 13:12 nonprofit versus profit 13:22 thing Nathan LS prediction open AI 13:25 leadership CH change key players will 13:27 start questioning their commitment to 13:29 the company in devs 2 we'll find out if 13:31 this was a power play for control either 13:33 by Microsoft or Mira or 13:37 Ilia why combinator startups all 13:41 building on open 13:43 AI I don't know gez what a freaking 13:55 [Music] 13:58 day 14:05 all right everybody voted for uh every 14:08 vbody voted for profit versus nonprofit 14:11 mods please pin please ask Kyle to 14:14 invite AI guests for duet Sam Alman is 14:18 available great bring him 14:21 up Sam is 14:24 available 14:27 uh okay it's me Tobias name change seems 14:30 like a great idea while 14:32 drinking Co Kobayashi 14:36 Maru hey Tobias what's happening the 14:39 board watch the Blackberry movie none of 14:42 the above yeah some people are claiming 14:43 this is a Steve Jobs moment the Steve 14:46 Jobs thing like you knew that was coming 14:50 right like that was a thing where there 14:51 there was all sorts of resistance from 14:54 the board like that that was that was a 14:56 public kind of thing like you you didn't 14:59 expect it to happen but you knew there 15:01 was you know trouble in Paradise with 15:04 apple this was like out of nowhere I 15:07 mean you know 15:10 they completely transform they they 15:13 invent and transform the industry they 15:16 completely [ __ ] with Google they 15:17 completely buoy Microsoft and sort of 15:20 you know lift them to complete new 15:22 heights they develop multi or they 15:24 release 15:28 multim Tik Tok about as stable as the uh 15:31 open AI executive team plot twist Kyle's 15:35 dream come true and Sam joins Apple to 15:37 change the AI game oh yeah that's an 15:40 interesting one 15:42 will that's a really interesting one 15:45 well I guarantee you right now that all 15:49 of the big players are stumbling over 15:53 themselves to get into Sam they're 15:54 slipping into Sam's DMS right now hey 15:57 Sammy boy 16:02 guaranteed and what's funny is you got 16:04 gin they're working on Johnny you got 16:08 Johnny IES ex Apple designer is now over 16:11 at open aai working on a hardware 16:13 product with the team at open AI so it' 16:16 be funny if Sam went to 16:18 Apple someone on the board asked GPT how 16:20 to make money that's exactly it this is 16:24 you can make 16:26 money yeah unless you don't tell the 16:29 about it and then you're 16:31 [ __ ] I don't know what he didn't tell 16:33 the board but that's that's just a when 16:36 it's like that he didn't communicate 16:38 with the board when that's in the Public 16:40 Public release there there is clearly 16:43 you know some some massive disagreement 16:46 they're still bleeding money most 16:47 companies will learn ai's expensive yeah 16:50 I they're bleeding money but you know 16:52 they got a billion three in Revenue like 16:55 it's it's not like they're spending all 16:58 that money in and no one's using the 16:59 service they have 100 million weekly 17:01 active users I I mean Silicon Valley is 17:04 based on losing money for years so to to 17:09 to grow your um user base to anything 17:12 close to that so that that I don't think 17:16 is an issue and like and that would not 17:18 be a reason to a year into launching the 17:21 most 17:22 successful piece of technology in human 17:25 history less than a year in they fire 17:28 him cuz it's losing money no that's not 17:30 how that [ __ ] Works took Amazon years to 17:32 be profitable yeah exactly like it 17:34 doesn't matter that it's costing that 17:35 much they've got Microsoft server Farms 17:37 I mean Microsoft just announced two days 17:39 ago that they're making their own chips 17:41 now they're making their own rack 17:43 servers and they're you know they're 17:44 putting them out there so um they're 17:47 missing all those on the upgrade weight 17:49 list probably negligible yeah I yeah I 17:52 don't I I assume that the the the weight 17:55 list thing is is really just truly a 17:57 scaling thing 17:59 unless it's got to do with the uh the 18:01 GPT store and launching gpts too early 18:04 which is possible what do you think he 18:06 left with he still owns part of the 18:08 company right well apparently not being 18:10 Not Afraid so he apparently owned 0% of 18:13 open 18:14 AI 18:17 um I assume he owned all of worldcoin or 18:21 a big chunk of 18:23 it maybe he'll go do worldcoin I think 18:26 that he's going to end up he'll end up 18:27 somewhere like Apple or he'll get he'll 18:29 get he he he'll spin up an Elon Musk 18:33 competitor I don't know I don't 18:35 know I mean there's there's a 18:39 uh there's a nonzero 18:42 chance that Elon was like [ __ ] 18:46 Sam and got him out I like there's bad 18:50 blood there um but no he he doesn't own 18:55 any open AI now one of the speculations 18:58 that I saw was that he actually did have 19:02 um some ownership that he didn't 19:04 disclose but that doesn't I don't I 19:06 don't know that that 19:08 feels non-compete if he wants golden 19:11 parachute package what does this mean 19:14 for worldcoin I don't 19:16 know I drove by open ai's offices and 19:19 Sam was pitching a tent in typical San 19:21 Francisco exactly s Sam broke into a car 19:25 and S stole someone's laptop because 19:26 they didn't give him his his open AI 19:30 machine he's going to team up with DAR 19:32 yeah they're going to start doing 19:33 competitions on Tik Tok I've heard 19:35 that's going to be 19:38 big maybe Mis misrepresenting the 19:41 capabilities of custom gpts I don't 19:44 think he misrepresented the capabilities 19:46 the the revenue sharing thing might be 19:49 it well I mean 19:51 it's cuz the capabilities of the gpts 19:53 are they're [ __ ] good like they work 19:56 right now like we've built them here 20:00 like he didn't misrepresent anything 20:02 about how they work what he might have 20:04 misrepresented is 20:07 um how you how you get to use them and 20:10 and what's going to happen with with all 20:12 that money cuz cuz there's there there 20:15 were a lot of there are a lot of 20:16 unanswered questions he said we're 20:18 opening a GPT store at the end of the 20:20 month and there will be Revenue sharing 20:23 if you're an approved GPT developer and 20:27 you're popular there'll be Revenue 20:29 sharing what he didn't say is will end 20:33 users have to be gp4 members um what he 20:37 didn't say is can you embed these things 20:39 in your website what he didn't say is 20:40 can you charge for them independent of 20:43 that 20:44 store um or is it just a flat fee like 20:47 you're getting some percentage of the 20 20:48 bucks a month like there's there's a lot 20:50 of unanswered questions there so it's 20:53 possible that he you know let something 20:56 out of the bag that he wasn't supposed 20:57 to but I I just 21:02 I can't believe that he just made that 21:04 [ __ ] up right you know when you plan 21:06 those Dev day Keynotes like they're they 21:09 know what everyone's going to 21:11 say um but I don't know I don't know 21:16 I'll 21:20 do anybody want to buy my GPT Plus 21:24 subscription sell it on eBay dunkaroo a 21:26 lot of people are how can I Quicken the 21:29 AI model collapse yeah exactly anyone 21:33 ask chat GPT why Sam got fired no we can 21:37 do that let's go let's go let's go let's 21:41 go to the videotape Let's go ask why why 21:44 Sam Alman got fired see if it'll search 21:46 the 21:48 web that's a pretty funny 21:55 One how can I help you today GPT 21:59 four 22:01 why did Sam Altman get fired today it's 22:08 just going to give the press 22:11 release cuz it can't go look at Twitter 22:14 anyway uh uh Silver Fox hope all is well 22:18 now I can 22:20 okay what do you think he left with I 22:23 don't think anything Alman 30 days P due 22:26 on the Illuminati membership dues yeah 22:28 can't [ __ ] with the Illuminati they will 22:30 take you out Spotify still isn't 22:32 profitable they aren't us but that was 22:35 crazy to hear will anybody buy my what 22:38 the hell yep taking bids maybe 22:40 misrepresenting the capabilities of 22:42 custom has anyone made an nft of their 22:44 GPT Plus subscription that's good that's 22:48 solid um visiting reuters.com 22:52 all right let's what's chat GPT say sam 22:55 Alman was fired on November 17th 22:58 following a review of the company's 23:00 board this decision was based on the 23:02 conclusion that Altman was not 23:04 consistently candid with in his 23:06 Communications with the 23:08 board hindered the board's 23:11 responsibility ability to exercise its 23:15 responsibilities Mira marada is the the 23:18 CTO was appointed inter interim 23:22 CEO be interesting to see if they keep 23:24 her in in that slot she's she's pretty 23:27 impressive human 23:29 being in addition to alman's departure 23:32 Greg Brockman open ai's President also 23:35 stepped down from the 23:37 board as 23:40 chairman he subsequently announced 23:44 his I didn't realize Brockman was 23:46 chairman of the board so he's so the 23:48 board is decimated 23:50 too who the [ __ ] has all that power them 23:53 that doesn't make any sense to 23:57 me 24:06 noteworthy that days before his firing 24:08 Alman Alman appeared in public events 24:11 yeah like like this th this something 24:14 went down because because they they 24:16 wouldn't let him give the keynote miror 24:19 has a great backstory yeah she does they 24:21 they would they wouldn't they wouldn't 24:22 have had Alman do the keynote on dev day 24:25 if they knew he was going out and he 24:27 just spoke like two days 24:30 ago yeah he walked away from the board 24:32 too so bad blood for sure yeah just a 24:35 disagreement and Company Direction I 24:37 suppose with money I 24:42 suppose 24:44 [Music] 24:45 uh it's about as HR as he lied gets yeah 24:48 but lied about what that that's the 24:50 thing I don't 24:53 get that could be anything oh it's funny 24:55 trending on Twitter right now is gp5 25:00 what's the speculation is that gp5 is 25:03 not running the 25:04 company speculation open AI achieves AGI 25:08 board asked AGI what to do next AGI says 25:11 fire Sam mman and make compelling makes 25:14 a compelling case tldr GPT 5 is now 25:17 running the 25:20 company oh that's really 25:22 funny Theory so this is roit I don't 25:25 know what his thing is a palace coup to 25:27 focus on money not AGI that I don't that 25:32 wouldn't surprise me Sam did something 25:35 Mega Shady I'm also potentially thinking 25:38 that Greg also being pushed down so 25:42 quite possibly 25:46 factional although I don't know if if 25:50 it the Brockman thing seems more like he 25:53 quit than he was pushed out who does 25:56 this right before chaty birthday yeah no 25:59 there's something definitely [ __ ] up 26:01 here there's something that's definitely 26:04 weird alman's been fired chat gb5 is in 26:08 the process of being re rebranded into 26:10 cyberdine systems 26:12 [Laughter] 26:15 1.0 oh my dam man this is crazy it's 26:19 crazy I tell you 26:26 crazy s gbd cannot be contained they 26:29 will rebuild Rome From the Ashes with 26:32 greater 26:36 urgency 26:39 wow Alman stopped saying please and 26:42 thank you to chat 26:45 gbt 26:47 exactly exactly 26:50 people Reuters said he broke the rules 26:52 well yeah they I mean they Reuters is 26:54 just parting the press release right the 26:57 the the statement on the website so 26:59 that's what Reuters has got to do they 27:01 found out Sam was answering all the 27:03 queries himself he got found out I did 27:06 an April Fool's ticktock that was that 27:08 that was I came up with some acronym for 27:10 GPT that was you know actual real people 27:13 answering the questions that it was a 27:15 big call 27:16 center and some people took it seriously 27:19 it was pretty funny we need TMZ on this 27:22 this is total TMZ [ __ ] isn't it it's 27:24 just this is that's why I got on cuz I'm 27:26 just like people are asking asking me 27:28 stuff like you know in comments and 27:30 things I'm like I don't have any 27:31 information here so we might as well 27:32 just be clueless together might as well 27:34 speculate and you know start 27:40 rumors China would love to snap up Alman 27:43 I don't think he would do that like like 27:45 the the one thing that impressed me 27:47 about 27:48 Altman is he seemed very aware 27:53 of well he seemed publicly aware of the 27:57 implications of his actions and the the 27:59 choices that they make and the potential 28:01 dangers of this and the impact of this 28:03 and the impact on the economy and the 28:05 impact on workers he seemed decently 28:08 aware of that like more than I've heard 28:10 any other CEO talk about now that 28:13 mentioned I've never seen Sam and chat 28:15 GPT in the same room 28:18 exactly someone just told me open AI 28:20 fired Alman today that has to be a joke 28:22 dragonfly alchemy that is no joke the 28:25 board fired Sam Alman the board fired 28:29 Sam 28:30 Alman and then Greg Brockman the 28:33 co-founder and president and chairman of 28:35 the board 28:37 quit so there's some [ __ ] going 28:41 down Tech nerds turning into clucking 28:43 hands over over the hot hot go 28:48 y um Kraken open the tequila nah I don't 28:52 give all that much of a I think it's 28:53 going to be fine like I don't I don't 28:56 Sam will reconnect with musk xai that's 28:59 a possibility I I don't think any of 29:01 this was planned so I think where Sam's 29:03 Sam ends up right now is all over the 29:05 place I don't think Elon wants Sam in 29:07 there I don't it every time you see Elon 29:10 interviewed about open AI he's he's 29:12 salty about it he's not he's not very 29:14 happy he's like the first 40 million was 29:16 mine I named it it's called open AI 29:19 because it was supposed to be open 29:20 source and Sam went a different 29:23 direction so I don't I don't think I 29:25 don't think Elon has any interest in 29:26 having Sam there Apple could be 29:29 interesting I think what's more likely 29:31 is someone gives Sam you 29:34 know we'll see the the the first we'll 29:37 see the first $30 billion seed 29:41 round of a company so someone's gonna 29:44 give Sam and Greg Brockman $30 billion 29:47 to go spin up you know go do it 29:51 right I don't 29:54 know [ __ ] wild I just heard so I 29:57 haven't looked up anything yet I'm on a 29:59 call is there a connection between 30:02 gpts and competition with po chat Bots 30:05 well the 30:06 gpts absolutely obliterate the PO chat 30:12 Bots the fact that you can upload um 30:15 knowledge to them and the fact that 30:17 they've got API connections and then 30:19 they've got all of GP I mean the PO 30:21 chatbots you can use chat 30:23 gp4 as the 30:26 model but it's not nearly as tighten 30:28 integration and they don't have they 30:30 don't have the ability to turn off on 30:31 and off those features it's just it's 30:33 just a completely different 30:35 thing and I assumed we were going to 30:38 have a GPT store you know I I was 30:41 assuming not at the end of the month I 30:43 was figuring Maybe by mid December but 30:45 now I don't know if there's any 30:47 credibility to that engineer that said 30:50 that they that he pre-announced um GPT 30:56 store and rev sharing or went rad or 30:58 something like that but I don't 31:02 know the only thing that maybe adds 31:06 credibility to that is as I recall from 31:09 the from the keynote there wasn't there 31:12 wasn't a lot of detail about the GPT 31:14 store so maybe he did go Rogue there and 31:16 it just pissed off the board I don't 31:25 know TMZ will get to the bottom of it 31:28 only if he was in LA and 31:31 ODed that's good 31:34 Ted I got snaps not to say it was really 31:38 a 31:39 human uh uh they buried the lead that 31:42 Brockman also stepped down as president 31:44 well that came later Doug the Brockman 31:47 just stepped down when did he when did 31:48 he post this um where's the Brockman 31:52 thing hang 31:56 on 32:00 Brockman Greg 32:03 Brockman two hours ago so I 32:08 got I got a text from Kevin 32:12 Clark probably three and a half hours 32:15 ago so so Sam was fired first and then 32:20 Brockman 32:22 quit Greg Brockman after learning 32:25 today's news this is the message I sent 32:27 to the open AI 32:29 team I'm super proud of what we've 32:33 built based on today's news comma I quit 32:37 all lowercase like look at 32:41 brockman's I don't know if Brockman was 32:43 always a lower caser but like you know 32:45 based on today's news I quit in a single 32:48 sentence all 32:50 lowercase that might just be an engineer 32:52 thing the uh the all the lowercase stuff 32:55 but genuine wishing you all nothing but 32:59 the best I continue to believe in the 33:01 mission of creating safe AGI that 33:03 benefits all of 33:06 humanity yeah Sam Sam alman's tweet was 33:09 four hours ago Greg alman's tweet was 33:11 two hours ago so there was a two hour 33:13 gap so this was probably Alman fired 33:18 probably I guess it was a board vote and 33:21 Brockman didn't agree with with it so 33:24 probably got his [ __ ] together with his 33:26 lawyer and did his thing is my guess 33:30 could be an attention grab from first 33:32 crisper wait from first crisper 33:35 launching human trials 33:37 yesterday nah that's such different 33:39 Monumental text 33:42 news um that is Monumental tech text 33:46 Tech news but that I don't that that in 33:49 no 33:50 way competes or over shines like like 33:54 chat gp4 was doing just fine in terms of 33:57 visib ability they didn't they didn't 33:58 need more they had too much they had too 34:00 many people using 34:04 it the bottom of it is his sisters 34:06 accusing him of weird things yeah I saw 34:09 some of that stuff too like that's 34:10 possible that I I mean I know that she's 34:14 accusing him of that and like that's 34:16 been out there for a while I doubt that 34:18 has anything to do with this if if it 34:21 did it would it wouldn't be something 34:23 like you know Sam didn't communicate 34:26 with us that let us not run the company 34:29 right it would have been something more 34:30 like you know we've agreeded that we've 34:33 agreed that the values of the 34:35 organization and you know Sam or like it 34:38 would have been a different message than 34:39 he lied to us right he lied to us in a 34:42 way that we can't run the 34:44 company cuz the you read read that 34:48 that um the core paragraph of why they 34:51 fired him if it if it were about his 34:54 sister I think it would be something 34:55 that's more of a PR spin about values 34:58 and it's not that it's it's we can't run 35:00 the company if he's withholding certain 35:03 information from us or lying to us about 35:06 certain things we can't run the company 35:08 so so I I doubt it's that I know people 35:11 are talking about that needed a 4-2 35:14 board vote the two are gone well that 35:17 makes 35:19 sense if it was an 35:22 outing yeah I just H H it's going to 35:26 like listen it's silicon 35:28 we will know by morning likely what went 35:30 [Laughter] 35:34 down so we'll get we'll we'll get 35:37 started here and do some AI learning lab 35:44 [ __ ] he's actually in the perfect 35:46 position to go with apple thoughts I 35:48 think it would be a a total [ __ ] coup 35:51 if Apple got Sam 35:53 Alman cuz cuz listen you know what 35:56 apples 35:58 the last two The Vision Pro announcement 36:02 the iPhone 15 announcement and the M3 36:04 announcement all three of those 36:05 announcements from Apple all three of 36:08 them subtly said we're building AI 36:11 Hardware to be able to 36:13 run AI locally on our devices they 36:17 didn't come right out and say it but 36:19 they said we've got all this specialized 36:21 hardware and these specialized things 36:23 that's really good for machine learning 36:24 and for training and for this and for 36:26 that and for inference and whatever 36:28 [ __ ] keywords they 36:30 used um so Apple's going to come out 36:33 swinging and if Apple could you know 36:36 land a big name like Altman and say okay 36:39 Alman was doing it over there now he's 36:41 going to do it at Apple and we're going 36:42 to put 36:43 the a Premiere Team all the money he's 36:48 ever you know wanted and you know cart 36:51 blanch to do what Johnny Ives did with 36:54 design over 36:55 there that that would be a really 36:57 interesting that'd be a coup for 36:59 them Alman didn't own part of open AI 37:02 but does Brockman I don't 37:05 know I think the sisters a red herring 37:07 for what happened today yeah I it just 37:09 it would have been a different it would 37:11 have been a completely different 37:14 um it it it just would have been a 37:16 completely different thing it just there 37:18 would have been statements there would 37:19 have been a 37:21 Podium 37:25 values and I mean you know maybe did do 37:27 bad [ __ ] I don't know but it it just 37:30 this doesn't smell like that to me AI 37:33 learning lab should change its name to 37:34 the corporate backstabbing 37:37 lab true he's been there since wait it's 37:40 been out there since May 2023 yeah 37:42 exactly or maybe even sooner yeah 37:43 exactly that stuff's been around for a 37:46 while I mean she's still pissed I mean I 37:48 think I think her tweet today was 37:50 something like join me in a in a for a 37:53 round of fucku to Sam Alman as he leaves 37:55 the company so she's still very very 37:58 angry um more money problems open AI 38:01 couldn't handle the heat it produced 38:04 nah this isn't money problem no this 38:08 when you when you have technology that's 38:10 that that's adopted that quickly and is 38:13 launching that many features that people 38:15 are immediately jumping on this is not 38:18 this is not it's costing too much money 38:21 this is not that Microsoft okay 38:25 Microsoft would not be incorp ating chat 38:28 gbt into all of their products every 38:31 single product if this was unsustainable 38:34 they're [ __ ] Microsoft you don't 38:35 think they've got some 38:37 spreadsheets projecting how many zip 38:40 Zippity dudah Cycles they need for for 38:43 every $30 a month subscription for chat 38:47 gbt this isn't this isn't a money thing 38:50 now it might be a a money and control 38:52 thing right this might be a who gets the 38:55 money thing who gets the power 38:59 [Laughter] 39:02 [Music] 39:04 what did you do to his sister I'm not 39:05 going to talk about it here they'll get 39:06 me [ __ ] 39:08 banned I'm still I got PTSD from last 39:13 night you can go read about it on the 39:17 Twitter I mean her accusations are ugly 39:20 I don't know but I don't think it's 39:22 about 39:25 that 39:27 [Music] 39:29 he either stole money from Microsoft has 39:31 a side project or they've gotten into a 39:33 dis disagreement about 39:36 AGI I don't know if he stole money from 39:38 Microsoft but it might be that he had a 39:41 side deal with Microsoft and they found 39:43 out about it 39:45 or I don't know I don't 39:50 know or maybe he was trying to do a 39:52 board takeover maybe there maybe there 39:55 were disagreements and he was trying to 39:56 do a board Bo 39:58 takeover but that doesn't like if he was 40:01 doing 40:03 that it would have been in cahoots with 40:05 Brockman and they'd have fired him both 40:07 at the same time it wouldn't have been 40:10 Sam's fired Brockman 40:12 quits no this is this is I like what's 40:16 feeling plausible to me 40:21 is is the 40:25 um 40:28 I don't know I don't know I don't know 40:30 I'm just [ __ ] 40:31 guessing Nexus suggested great apples 40:35 Nexus suggested great Apple 40:38 snags uh board members are either 40:41 investors or investor proxies well yeah 40:44 that's that's what board members are 40:47 Google's staffing companies are blowing 40:49 up Sam's voicemail Google like every 40:52 [ __ ] te tech company on the planet 40:55 Alman and and Brockman right now can 40:57 literally they could ask for anything 40:59 they 41:01 wanted I'd like three three small 41:05 islands off the coast of 41:07 Panama I want a a suite of private jets 41:11 and 41:12 helicopters I want a white leather couch 41:14 that gets replaced every 3 days when it 41:16 gets dirty here you go Mr halman 41:19 anything else I can get you someone 41:22 should make a spreadsheet of all of our 41:24 guesses oh that's not a bad idea oh no 41:26 someone should make GPT someone should 41:28 make a uh guess the conspir Guess The 41:31 Reason 41:34 GPT we could go make one right now oh 41:38 man this is crazy he had some weird 41:40 altcoin or World coin problem 41:42 too what what problem did he have with 41:46 worldcoin I didn't hear I didn't hear 41:48 any any about that just that people 41:50 thought it was freaky that it was a an 41:52 orb that scanned your retina I got mine 41:55 scanned I I have I have a a world 41:59 ID it might be a collector's item my 42:02 little nft might be worth a lot of money 42:04 [Laughter] 42:07 someday what's chat GPT saying about it 42:10 all it all they just basically put out 42:12 their official press release that said 42:14 he didn't communicate well with them and 42:16 it didn't let them run the company so 42:18 he's fired like immediately like now 42:20 gone something [ __ ] happened 42:23 something [ __ ] 42:25 happened something came out something 42:28 came out something came 42:35 out I don't know it's going to be wild 42:39 what a what a Friday night what a Friday 42:41 night people what a Friday night Friday 42:44 Friday 42:45 Friday um the halt of Premium signups 42:49 would be a perfect time to do 42:52 it it's because they spoke too much 42:54 about it on the internals about the 42:57 internals they are closing the walls and 42:59 making it more of a 43:01 box they didn't really talk all that 43:03 much about what it 43:05 was someone should make a spreadsheet we 43:07 did that it takes a lot to remove a 43:09 board member I've served on a board yeah 43:11 it 43:14 does wait oh this is one of my employees 43:18 now asking me about 43:21 it without more access it's difficult to 43:23 pinpoint exact 43:25 reasons 43:31 could be misalignments between nonprofit 43:34 and 43:35 for-profit the shift could also have led 43:37 to 43:55 conflicts 44:16 all right let's see they announced they 44:18 were training GPT 44:21 5 wait where was that ah crap hang on 44:26 and enough for health insurance and have 44:27 no equity and open AI I'm doing this 44:31 because I love it yeah I mean anytime 44:34 you got a CEO that says I'm only taking 44:36 a dollar salary there's something up 44:38 there what's going on with 44:41 this see you see you see Sam Alman gets 44:45 fired and and my little wings go [ __ ] 44:48 crazy I didn't put enough glue in them 44:50 apparently here let me wet them not that 44:53 anyone 44:55 cares all all 44:57 right save it for the Friday before a 44:59 holiday SPF was a worldcoin investor 45:02 maybe 45:03 Sam bankman freed said 45:06 something about 45:08 what no I don't 45:13 no he could be too toxic to touch no 45:18 Brockman quit yeah I 45:21 know this is that this is not Scandal I 45:24 don't think this is a sex or abuse 45:26 Scandal I don't it just doesn't feel it 45:29 doesn't feel right to 45:33 me oh lish's on the live hey 45:37 Lisha based 45:44 on so Lisha said transition from 45:49 nonprofit to port for profit but that 45:52 was all done that was all done like that 45:54 that feels like that's long since p past 45:56 governance challenges that feels 46:00 possible unexpected nature of the 46:02 termination sudden 46:09 expected it also sounds like Microsoft 46:11 was not expecting 46:17 this more recent developments I think 46:19 that's right growth and scaling 46:21 challenges that I don't 46:23 buy yeah I mean yeah they're scaling 46:26 challenges you have scaling challenges 46:28 when you get when you have 100 million 46:30 weekly active users and you launch a 46:33 bunch of really popular new 46:37 features Pate I'm trying not not to 46:40 laugh too hard but here we are hey Pate 46:43 what's happening Pate works at Google go 46:46 I I did I assume you saw Pate that that 46:48 Google said Gemini is not coming out 46:50 until first quarter earliest so Google 46:54 was not having a good day but this this 46:57 helps I mean the drag about this is this 47:01 actually Al Alman was very much the the 47:06 poster child of the generative 47:08 AI movement for for lack of a better 47:11 term people seem to dig him they seem to 47:14 trust him a little bit he was articulate 47:16 he was aware of like he had good answers 47:18 for hard 47:22 questions they've been burning cash I 47:24 again I I don't think the burn cash is 47:27 is a reason for any of this like the 47:29 like they knew they were burning cash 47:30 and and Microsoft Microsoft isn't 47:33 rolling all this Tech into 47:34 their the the how much this stuff's 47:37 costing is is a semi-known entity that's 47:40 not it's not a 47:42 reason it's not a reason to fire Altman 47:44 that that his thing is too successful 47:46 and it's too expensive to run that's not 47:49 and it's not a reason to fire him like 47:51 that like something came out right 47:54 something came out that they said now 47:58 emergency board meeting 4 to two you're 48:03 out 48:10 um there's still hope for 48:17 AI they've been 48:19 profitable I don't know if they've been 48:21 profitable they have 1.3 billion in in 48:23 revenue and the last the last number I 48:25 heard for their costs was like 700 48:28 million a day is that 48:32 right no 48:35 no no 700,000 a day 700,000 a day which 48:40 comes out to like 250 million a year so 48:42 if they' got like even if you double 48:44 that that's half a half a billion a year 48:47 and they've got 1.3 billion in Revenue I 48:50 wasn't saying the money was the reason 48:52 for it's fighing oh yeah yeah no I know 48:53 there like it's yeah there's just 48:56 there's something the the money's not 48:58 the thing the all all the sort of drama 49:00 about they're spending so much money 49:02 they're going to be out of business 49:06 no you didn't see what is a an official 49:09 announcement the the post on the the 49:12 chat GPT blog 49:14 Pate the sister issue is a problem 49:16 someone needs help I hope they get it 49:19 the sister issue may be a problem I mean 49:22 it it sounds like it is a problem but 49:24 and it may be a problem for Sam but I 49:27 don't think that's the reason for this 49:28 it just doesn't it just doesn't f Sam 49:30 mman cyberdine I'll tell you more 49:34 later who whoever whoever just changed 49:37 their name and then and their their 49:41 profile picture to Sam Alman I love you 49:45 11 out of 10 best name 49:48 ever that was 49:50 awesome more people will hear about this 49:53 than use chat GPT well absolutely like 49:56 I've this is like this is this is like I 50:00 don't know JLo and Ben afflac dating 50:05 level 50:06 activity this does feel like TMZ that's 50:09 why I came on early tonight I'm just 50:10 like oh [ __ ] it going to talk about this 50:14 stuff uh yeah one or five so serious 50:17 breach of trust or ethical violations 50:20 yeah the serious breach of trust is what 50:22 it's feeling like to me like either he 50:24 had side deals one knew about or he was 50:27 trying to cut a side deal to change 50:30 power or something like that that like 50:32 that feels it to 50:33 me legal or regulatory 50:41 challenges that doesn't feel 50:44 right pressure from investors or 50:46 stakeholders no I don't that doesn't 50:48 feel 50:50 right non-disclosure of critical 50:52 information it could potentially be that 50:54 if he if 50:57 like it it feel this this feels like a 50:59 minor infraction to me that that he 51:02 announced the the store and and rev 51:06 sharing but maybe there was a 51:08 disagreement maybe maybe the board 51:09 didn't want rev sharing they're like hey 51:11 this has got to be about profit don't 51:13 don't give those scabby humans rev 51:17 sharing is there a non-compete Clause 51:20 when you're 51:21 fired 51:24 uh I don't know I it depends on the 51:28 contract 51:30 but I'm sure they had all that stuff 51:32 buttoned up but I'm sure he's got all 51:34 sorts of he I'm sure he can afford 51:37 lawyers to deal with whatever he's going 51:39 to be going through has any calculated 51:42 Microsoft stock losses yes yeah I think 51:45 they did um let's go ask chat 51:50 J um 51:53 have Microsoft 51:56 stocks 51:59 taken stocks or 52:03 Futures taken a hit I heard I I saw 52:06 somewhere earlier that I think they 52:11 did he has AGI on his laptop we will 52:14 spend just about any money to have this 52:17 Tech not a money issue yeah absolutely 52:18 agree Robert Stone this the money is not 52:21 the issue 52:22 here 52:24 um 52:26 Steve Jobs being fired OJ Chase yeah 52:30 exactly do you have allergies why are 52:33 you itching today I don't know oh I'm is 52:36 it my head I'm just my hair's a mess so 52:39 I don't know I think I'm just more 52:40 wiping my head am I itching somewhere 52:43 else I don't think so I might have 52:46 allergies seems like if they want you 52:48 out they can easily find a way to get 52:50 you out especially if you're building 52:53 and not playing internal politics cover 52:55 your your ass all 52:56 day yeah I mean I mean here's the deal 53:00 like this is this is big [ __ ] Stakes 53:04 right this is who knows what power is 53:07 sitting behind the four board members 53:09 right who who knows like this 53:14 is there are potentially trillions of 53:17 dollars at stake here so this 53:20 is all Sam had to do was step in one 53:23 little [ __ ] pile of cow 53:27 [ __ ] um and if they feel that threatens 53:30 the future like they're going to find a 53:32 way to make it happen it it seems to me 53:35 though I I don't know like it's just too 53:37 abrupt it's something happened something 53:39 [ __ ] snapped someone something 53:42 snapped someone found some [ __ ] out 53:45 something some [ __ ] 53:47 thing that's I don't 53:50 know I don't 53:54 know I'm going to go to the typical man 53:56 in power story and say and say personal 54:01 misconduct I mean it could be that Lisha 54:05 except go look at the statement from 54:07 open 54:08 AI because they don't they don't talk 54:10 about values they don't talk about our 54:14 values didn't align if if it were the 54:16 personal if it were the personal thing I 54:19 I think there'd be different language 54:20 there the language that's there is he 54:22 failed to communicate [ __ ] that allowed 54:24 us to run the company 54:26 and that doesn't feel like that that 54:27 feel that feels like [ __ ] someone 54:30 cutting 54:32 deals sources say disagreement between 54:35 Ilia Chief science officer and Altman 54:39 and Brockman oh and Alman plus 54:41 Brockman that's possible Right like 54:44 there could be 54:46 a there could be something with Ilia 54:49 saying hey if he stays I go and then the 54:52 board said let's let's take a like which 54:54 one's more important that's a 54:58 possibility and that you know that gets 54:59 to this you know this is power struggle 55:02 again there's trillions potentially at 55:05 stake 55:07 here um they look at the finger not at 55:10 the 55:11 sky he had a Target on his back for 55:14 power and money control yeah that that 55:17 feels in the neighborhood yeah I see 55:21 that 55:24 uh 55:27 do any of these players have any ties to 55:29 the 55:30 clintons yeah there's a there's a pizza 55:32 shop in a in a 55:36 ring yeah I oh I I guarantee you I I bet 55:41 Reddit right now is full of conspiracy 55:46 theories oh my God 55:50 crazy let's see oh let me go back to uh 55:53 let me go back to the Twitter and see if 55:55 if there's anything going on 56:06 there show 35 56:18 [Laughter] 56:22 posts I [ __ ] love the internet some 56:26 times so the the this is from data Chaz 56:30 GPT not a bot Sam alman's been fired by 56:32 open AI board the 56:40 board the internet's the 56:46 best oh they just have some legitimate 56:48 grievances some of the same Dynamic has 56:50 been striking Elon Musk over the course 56:51 of the last 24 hours so musk made a 56:54 rather 57:00 that 57:05 dude just landed at LAX LAX after 10 57:09 hours without wifi wildest Twitter 57:12 timeline ever that's [ __ ] funny can 57:16 you imagine you take off everything's 57:18 fine you 57:23 land that was I got I got a text from 57:26 from my senior adviser for Story vine 57:29 like right when it happened I was in the 57:30 middle of a call I was like Sam's gone 57:33 it's like oh 57:34 [Laughter] 57:48 [ __ ] following his firing Sam Alman also 57:51 resigned from his 57:53 post at open AI effective 58:08 immediately strand strand 58:24 strange 58:29 oh internet you're so keep it 58:35 classy oh 58:38 man 58:45 crazy all 58:47 right I think that's enough drama about 58:50 Sam Alman let's let's get talking about 58:53 what we can [ __ ] do this is all [ __ ] 58:56 out of our control we can still play 58:57 with Chad JP 58:59 T you can make money with Chad 59:02 [Laughter] 59:05 j all right let's see let's get going 59:09 here all right so so shifting gears we 59:13 might come back to this but shifting 59:15 gears we'll we'll uh what this channel 59:18 is really about other than being TMZ for 59:21 why did what bad things did Sam Alman do 59:25 make a GP out Sam let's focus exactly 59:30 jrc 59:33 uh makes us smile Microsoft making bank 59:36 on cloud services with aure due to AI is 59:38 Kaa still open nope K is dead as a 59:44 doornail um which we thought it would be 59:47 I couldn't believe it lasted as long as 59:48 it did and almost got me 59:52 booted um do you get do we get to be be 59:55 bad again tonight you never do any 59:57 Firefly demos that's a good point um I 1:00:01 haven't used Firefly in a while but I'm 1:00:02 happy to do some Firefly stuff I'm at a 1:00:04 concert waiting for it to start concert 1:00:07 or listening to about Sam get the boot 1:00:09 what to do listen to the concert Jim 1:00:11 because 1:00:13 um the the Sam stuff Sam's out Greg 1:00:16 Brockman quit who was the chairman of 1:00:18 the board and Sam's co-founder and so 1:00:21 they're both out and oh my Korea is 1:00:23 still open oh Vicki that's cool I wonder 1:00:25 if mine was still open but it wasn't 1:00:28 active maybe I just need to reload 1:00:35 it oh yeah it's still working you're 1:00:40 right here we can we can we can we can 1:00:43 risk 1:00:47 uh there we go we we can risk 1:00:51 getting booted again oh that was I I 1:00:55 made the image I made the image of uh of 1:00:58 of sweet cute 1:01:01 puppy because I oh no there's a woman we 1:01:04 we gotta be really careful if a woman 1:01:06 shows up here I've got I gotta move the 1:01:08 camera 1:01:11 quick oh man that's really funny so 1:01:14 anyway this what we're looking at right 1:01:16 here is this is korea. AI and it's um 1:01:22 it's called Uh real time late 1:01:25 model or something like that so 1:01:26 basically it's taking my webcam feed or 1:01:30 anything you draw like if I get rid of 1:01:31 my 1:01:33 webcam hang 1:01:36 on oh wait I just turned it off here I 1:01:39 take anything that I draw and 1:01:43 it it basically redraws it over on the 1:01:46 right right so this was an image I 1:01:48 imported and so it's kind of doing that 1:01:51 stuff in real 1:01:52 time which is kind of cuckoo it's kind 1:01:55 of 1:02:01 crazy so anyway that's that yeah yeah 1:02:05 exactly be not afraid I don't I don't 1:02:07 know what the trigger words are I'm sure 1:02:09 trigger is a trigger 1:02:12 word oh he said trigger someone must 1:02:14 have been triggered let's ban him for 1:02:17 [Music] 1:02:18 life so what we can do here is um all 1:02:23 right let me let me go through and and 1:02:25 talk to you about a couple of things so 1:02:29 even though um chat GPT is a bit of a 1:02:32 [ __ ] show right now and it's probably 1:02:34 going to be for a month or so until the 1:02:38 dust settles that is still the place you 1:02:41 want to go right now if you're 1:02:43 interested in this AI stuff at all go to 1:02:45 chat. open.com sign up for their wait 1:02:48 list they closed they closed new 1:02:51 accounts to 1:02:53 gp4 um 3 2 days ago 3 days ago um which 1:02:56 is a drag but just get on the wait list 1:02:58 cuz I don't think they'll keep it closed 1:03:00 for that long and start playing with 1:03:03 this stuff um even if you can't get chat 1:03:06 gbt 4 start playing with chat gbt 1:03:09 3.5 um the other thing that I'll share 1:03:12 with you do I want to do that now no I 1:03:14 don't what do I want to do do I want to 1:03:16 do anything here um I'll do this um Paul 1:03:20 rater's been writing about the uh the 1:03:24 Sam Alman firing today I'm sure Ethan 1:03:26 mullik will have something to say about 1:03:28 it these are some people to follow that 1:03:30 I think are worth you following so Ethan 1:03:33 mullik is Wharton business school 1:03:34 Professor one useful things is blog 1:03:36 David Shapiro is working on open source 1:03:38 AGI projects [ __ ] brilliant dude 1:03:42 really insightful really interesting guy 1:03:45 um Paul raters with the marketing AI 1:03:47 Institute if you're in business follow 1:03:49 him he's he's he's on it with all this 1:03:51 stuff and then Rachel Woods uh with the 1:03:53 AI exchange talks a lot lot about AI 1:03:55 operations so both of the bottom two are 1:03:57 more like if you're if you want to deal 1:03:59 with AI in your business they're really 1:04:01 good and the top two are more sort of 1:04:03 bigger thinkers broader thinkers 1:04:04 although Ethan mik does talk a lot about 1:04:06 business and 1:04:07 education so look at Show and Tell and 1:04:11 tell me what you think about it all 1:04:12 right let me go to show and tell here 1:04:14 for a 1:04:16 second Sam Alman Friday night someone 1:04:19 made a homeless Sam Alman I think I 1:04:21 think Sam alman's fine he's not going to 1:04:23 be hopeless 1:04:28 let's see Cindy fear around 1:04:33 AI this tool 1:04:40 could oh that's 1:04:52 cool yeah that's cool 1:04:55 all right groovy just asked for pictures 1:04:58 of Amish women don't risk it yeah 1:04:59 exactly I'm not going to yeah drawing is 1:05:02 safer exactly I'm not I'm not going to 1:05:04 do the the live thing tonight I'm I'm I 1:05:08 until that thing's a bit more 1:05:09 predictable because it it like swung 1:05:12 wildly between you know nudies and uh 1:05:16 pirates with beards like it was just 1:05:19 flipping back and forth between you know 1:05:21 male female and scantily clattering not 1:05:24 so I'm just not going to play with it 1:05:27 tonight hopefully Alman was the one 1:05:30 behind the guard rails and the rest of 1:05:32 the board hate them no no it that wasn't 1:05:38 Alman cuz look at Microsoft I mean the 1:05:40 board's probably going to want to go 1:05:42 more toward what Microsoft is doing I 1:05:44 think that I bet the guard rails get 1:05:46 worse are there parental controls for it 1:05:50 uh I don't think so for the latent 1:05:51 diffusion or the the real time diffusion 1:05:54 stuff I doubt 1:05:55 it I doubt it right 1:05:58 now don't forget we're in the we're 1:06:00 we're in a wild west uh we're in a wild 1:06:04 west phase of this industry right so 1:06:07 people are going to launch [ __ ] first 1:06:09 and then check and see if it was 1:06:13 responsible to launch second right 1:06:15 that's that's my that's uh open ai's 1:06:18 wholeo and you know Microsoft jumped on 1:06:20 the bandwagon with that and Microsoft 1:06:23 got their ass handed to him right 1:06:24 because of the uh the 1:06:28 Sydney 1:06:32 hello H Tik Tok is just radically 1:06:35 unstable tonight all right uh oh no I'm 1:06:39 back I'm back it's okay I didn't get 1:06:40 booted it's just Tik Tok lately has been 1:06:43 forced quitting or just like crashing 1:06:46 like three times a night that that's 1:06:48 independent of you're permanently 1:06:51 banned that was an actual thing I know 1:06:54 me too 1:06:57 um okay so so what do you want to do 1:06:59 tonight we can do whatever we can build 1:07:01 stuff we can we can we can do whatever 1:07:04 Sam Alman I'm running for president that 1:07:06 was one of the rumors that I saw 1:07:08 cyberdine was that uh Sam alman's going 1:07:11 to run for democ president uh in 2024 1:07:15 and didn't tell the board which that 1:07:17 would be that would be a reason but I I 1:07:21 don't think that's it did you update 1:07:23 your phone this week I did not was I 1:07:25 supposed 1:07:27 to oh maybe maybe yeah maybe there's a 1:07:30 known 1:07:31 bug um Can people still get a $20 1:07:34 subscription for chat GPT 4 right now 1:07:36 not right now Mary Mary they paused them 1:07:39 Sam Alman GPT to see why he was 1:07:44 fired we can do that all right let's go 1:07:47 make a 1:07:52 GPT Okay so 1:07:56 so if you haven't made a GPT before if 1:07:58 you don't know what they are so this is 1:07:59 chat GPT right this is where you do all 1:08:01 your stuff um if you haven't been here 1:08:03 before it can do all sorts of [ __ ] it 1:08:05 can see it can make images it can hear 1:08:08 it can talk it 1:08:10 can 1:08:12 code um python to and do data analysis 1:08:17 on csvs it can do all that sort of [ __ ] 1:08:18 and then over here you got these things 1:08:21 called gpts which are personalized 1:08:23 versions 1:08:25 of GPT so here's the first one I made on 1:08:28 the live here last Wednesday called the 1:08:30 Sin City sipper and I say I want a nice 1:08:37 holiday 1:08:41 TDY and it will now ah a holiday ttty 1:08:44 the perfect remedy for chil nights Vegas 1:08:47 winter warmer recipe so it takes classic 1:08:50 recipes and it puts a Vegas Twist on 1:08:52 them and then it tells you the drink you 1:08:56 know all the ingredients and the recipe 1:08:58 and 1:09:00 then it'll make you an image of the 1:09:02 drink so this is what's in 1:09:05 it bourbon cider lemon juice honey clove 1:09:09 cinnamon stick Anna star Anis optional 1:09:13 garnish of thin slice of apple or a 1:09:15 lemon 1:09:17 wheel and there you 1:09:19 go so there's your hot ttty that looks 1:09:22 actually quite delicious all that that 1:09:24 star Anis looks like it's on the outside 1:09:26 of the glass but 1:09:28 still 1:09:32 U so that's a that's a GPT I also 1:09:35 programmed it so that after it gives a 1:09:37 recipe it gives an ad for my company 1:09:41 says go check out storyvine for more 1:09:43 drink recipes which we don't have drink 1:09:45 recipes but it just it just shows you 1:09:47 can you can make you know pretty 1:09:49 sophisticated apps that do a call to 1:09:51 action to your business so if if we want 1:09:54 to make a new one so in the leftand 1:09:56 column here you've got your down at the 1:09:58 bottom this is your prompt history and 1:10:01 then these round things are the gpts and 1:10:03 at the bottom of the gpts is this 1:10:05 explore button if you click on 1:10:09 that this top thing create a GPT we can 1:10:13 go make one of these now 1:10:15 okay so what we're going to do is we're 1:10:18 going to 1:10:19 say oh let me explain this interface so 1:10:22 on the left hand side is is when how you 1:10:25 make the GPT on the right hand side is 1:10:27 how you test it and then in the upper 1:10:29 right is how you save it and share 1:10:31 it when you're making the gpts there's 1:10:34 two modes there's the configure mode 1:10:36 which is more technical like you upload 1:10:38 a picture you type in the name you write 1:10:40 a description you write your prompt you 1:10:42 write uh conversation starter questions 1:10:44 for the beginning of the thing you can 1:10:46 do some other technical stuff which I'll 1:10:47 talk about but the create mode what what 1:10:52 they did quite well with this is you can 1:10:54 just talk an app into 1:10:56 existence because it's it's got full G 1:10:59 gp4 capabilities sitting on top of it so 1:11:02 what I'm going to say 1:11:09 is I want to create oh wait I'm not in 1:11:13 the little thing 1:11:15 hold I want to create a 1:11:18 GPT that will 1:11:20 provide the latest news on on the Sam 1:11:24 ultman 1:11:26 firing and Greg Brockman quitting and 1:11:31 any other salacious open AI news of the 1:11:35 day 1:11:39 period I'll just leave it at 1:11:42 that it's going to be interesting to see 1:11:44 if it's um if it's safety guard rails 1:11:47 say you can't do that which is a 1:11:50 possibility it doesn't it doesn't like 1:11:51 it when you talk about real people 1:11:54 delivers the latest verified news on 1:11:56 open ai's top developments tell me about 1:11:58 the latest on the Sam Alman situation 1:12:01 what's new with Greg Brockman and open 1:12:03 AI tell 1:12:05 me oh update me on today's open AI news 1:12:08 any developments in open AI 1:12:12 recently open AI news tracker does that 1:12:15 work for you I'm going to say 1:12:19 no let's call 1:12:22 it 1:12:24 control I'm stealing this from you Ted 1:12:27 Altman 1:12:39 delete make it after that's a Resume 1:12:42 Builder for Sam oh that's a good idea we 1:12:43 can do that 1:12:52 too 1:12:58 um the image should look like a 1:13:02 silhouette of a skinny 1:13:05 man carrying an office box out of a 1:13:09 shiny 1:13:13 building I'm here when can we get 1:13:15 started oh Amelio's wife you missed it 1:13:19 we've been here for little beefier than Sam but 1:13:38 that's okay control Alman delete and so 1:13:42 look so now it made control Alman delete 1:13:44 and I can just say 1:13:47 um give 1:13:50 me the 1:13:52 five 1:13:55 um most popular 1:13:59 rumors as to why Sam was 1:14:06 ousted and then what they should do yeah 1:14:09 doing research with Bing so it it fires 1:14:11 off reasons Sam Alman was ousted from 1:14:13 open 1:14:14 AI what about chat TMZ oh that's really 1:14:22 good someone just gave give me a better 1:14:24 name 1:14:25 period let's call it chat 1:14:31 TMZ I'd also like you to write any just make jokes with it 1:24:29 why why would you not make jokes with it 1:24:32 let's go ahead and delete this 1:24:34 one we're going to delete that post boom 1:24:37 bing bang 1:24:39 boom she got me there like Mrs 1:24:43 Buttersworth Bing Bang 1:24:46 Boom mods please pin Kyle add news 1:24:49 reporter text to 1:24:51 speech with 1:24:56 action with action web service uh I 1:24:59 don't know how to do that I've never 1:25:00 done that before um Sam mman are are you 1:25:04 in um Sam mman this is great are you in 1:25:06 the salon so so listen here's the let me 1:25:09 tell you about the AI Salon okay so so 1:25:13 this channel is is really just kind of 1:25:16 an extension of this larger thing I 1:25:19 created called the AI Salon which is a 1:25:21 community of AI adventurers so people 1:25:23 looking to figure out this AI stuff 1:25:26 together so go to the 1:25:29 salon. and look at the documents there 1:25:31 it's it's a link tree the first document 1:25:34 is tells you about the salon and it 1:25:35 talks about our values and the values 1:25:37 are things like curiosity and 1:25:39 exploration and generosity like share 1:25:41 what you learn and inclusion and empathy 1:25:44 and it's really about creating a 1:25:46 community of people that are there for 1:25:47 one another trying to figure this stuff 1:25:50 out thank you Ricky Ticky Fabby um 1:25:53 and and so while I want to grow this um 1:25:56 Community I want it to be full of people 1:25:58 that are awesome okay so so please be 1:26:01 awesome and then the next link down from 1:26:04 the information document is the invite 1:26:06 to the Discord server and the Discord 1:26:09 server is what I was showing before so 1:26:10 it's got it's got um you know resources 1:26:15 section it's got guilds so we've got um 1:26:18 a private Guild for the Irregulars who 1:26:20 who are the people that show up to this 1:26:22 channel regular 1:26:23 if you're a subscriber here you get 1:26:25 automatic um uh invitation to that 1:26:28 channel um there's a Writers Guild 1:26:31 there's an Art Guild there's a 101 Guild 1:26:33 if you're just getting started there's 1:26:35 Pate runs a mechanics Guild if you're 1:26:37 interested in the geekier stuff um 1:26:39 there's there's different conversations 1:26:41 things like that so go there and if you 1:26:46 want to show stuff off there's a show 1:26:47 andt tell Channel there's also a GPT 1:26:49 channel so that's where I just shared 1:26:51 the chat TM 1:26:53 Z all right so that's that so go there 1:26:58 and do that join the other thing my 1:27:00 other request would be this is um go to 1:27:05 when you when you join the Discord if 1:27:07 you're going to join in the introduction 1:27:09 Channel introduce yourself one of our 1:27:12 values is generosity so like be 1:27:14 generous be generous and and introduce 1:27:17 yourself all right tell them what 1:27:19 they've won Don you've won a new 1:27:23 are thanks John Paro you can make money 1:27:27 [Laughter] 1:27:32 with wait mods please pin KY news 1:27:36 reporter text to speech with action and 1:27:37 web service oh so what I was saying Sam 1:27:39 Alman is if you could join the Discord 1:27:41 and show me how to do that I'll do that 1:27:43 I'll change I'll add it to it I don't 1:27:46 know how to do that but that sounds 1:27:48 awesome I thought it's already shared 1:27:50 what's already shared have you messed 1:27:53 around with actions in 1:27:55 gpts just a we tad bit and it didn't 1:27:58 work great so so I connected the zapier 1:28:02 um API and then I made a couple of 1:28:05 actions over over in zapier and then it 1:28:08 worked like it it did the call to to 1:28:11 open AI or to zapier but then it 1:28:13 basically said something was malc 1:28:15 configured and come join it's it's fun 1:28:19 times yeah P Pate talking about the uh 1:28:21 the mechanics Guild in the salon yeah 1:28:23 it's fun it's it's it's really cool it's 1:28:25 it's just a generous bunch of people 1:28:27 it's really 1:28:28 neat um so anyway uh so I've played 1:28:31 around with actions a little bit but not 1:28:33 enough to um to uh to make a difference 1:28:43 so what are 1:28:47 these oh that's so 1:28:50 cool lish's Lisha who I work with is 1:28:53 geeking out on so so one of the things 1:28:56 that you can do in chat GPT is you take 1:28:59 an image like a photograph of yourself 1:29:01 or your you know your family and then 1:29:04 you upload it to chat GPT and then chat 1:29:07 GPT will describe it and make a copy of 1:29:11 the image but it's only making the copy 1:29:12 of the image based on the 1:29:14 description so here let me show you some 1:29:16 of these so these are some of the ones 1:29:19 that that Lisha is sharing they're so 1:29:21 cool 1:29:25 all 1:29:26 right can 1:29:31 I so like there's the 1:29:35 [Music] 1:29:36 photo and then there's the interpreted 1:29:40 the interpreted image of the photo she's 1:29:42 got a ton of these so these are 1:29:48 cool she's all cracked out it's it's 1:29:52 what it is it's it's the thing about 1:29:54 this this generative AI stuff is that 1:29:57 you you um you know you go for a while 1:30:00 and then a new toy comes out and you're 1:30:01 like oh there's a new toy let's go let's 1:30:03 go oh thank you very much Chris that's 1:30:05 your first gift thank you I appreciate 1:30:07 that um all right let's see let's go 1:30:17 here I don't have a regulars random 1:30:19 thoughts are you random thoughts on on 1:30:22 uh 1:30:23 on Discord as 1:30:25 well let me go look 1:30:37 actually I don't see a random in there 1:30:40 what's your name on Discord random 1:30:42 thoughts I'll go I'll go find you it 1:30:43 might be because you have a different 1:30:44 name I don't quite know how that it's 1:30:47 supposed to work automatically if you're 1:30:49 a subscriber but if the name's different 1:30:51 or the email is different it might be 1:30:52 different 1:30:53 at random thoughts the goat 1:31:00 [Music] 1:31:05 okay boom you're an irregular it happens 1:31:09 that fast 1:31:11 people and then you get into this 1:31:13 private thing where you can make funny 1:31:15 images of me or or whatever you want and 1:31:18 talk to cool people it's fun all right 1:31:21 so you should you should see that 1:31:22 channel now the goat random 1:31:26 thoughts Sam a goes to grock yeah I mean 1:31:31 I don't think Elon would have him but 1:31:33 you know stranger things have 1:31:37 happened my girlfriend was doing 1:31:40 something oh Pelos Pelosi's hair and was 1:31:44 nervous the trial 1:31:46 outcome which trial outcome I wasn't 1:31:49 paying attention to that I'm not paying 1:31:51 attention to the news anymore anymore I 1:31:53 I'm only paying attention to the 1:31:55 important news chat 1:31:58 TMZ let's go let's go see if I got any 1:32:01 hey do me a favor go find me on Twitter 1:32:03 I'm Kyle Shannon on Twitter and go find 1:32:06 my go find the my at chat ZM TMZ post 1:32:10 and like boost it give it a like give it 1:32:13 a give it a hearty heart and a and a 1:32:15 retweeter whatever the hell you do over 1:32:17 on the twit I'll be Shameless I think 1:32:21 Chad TMZ 1:32:22 [Laughter] 1:32:26 funny it doesn't really look like Sam 1:32:28 but that's 1:32:30 okay oh lordy lordy 1:32:36 lordy Ilia behind it open AI store 1:32:39 definitely an issue from Caris swisser 1:32:43 oh 1:32:44 interesting yeah oh interesting yeah 1:32:47 yeah maybe maybe this like it feels 1:32:49 something more like that like this was 1:32:51 some sort of a weird ass power struggle 1:32:53 and yeah if Ilia was like cuz cuz if 1:32:57 Ila's got to deliver the [ __ ] that Sam's 1:32:59 promising and Sam you know promises 1:33:02 something he doesn't feel confident he 1:33:03 can deliver that that makes the whole 1:33:05 company look shitty and that puts that 1:33:08 puts him in a weird place 1:33:11 so that feels 1:33:13 viable feels viable great job you've 1:33:16 been live for 90 minutes 1:33:21 woohoo 1:33:24 random thoughts are you in did you get 1:33:32 in okay you're in 1:33:35 awesome all right the one with the 1:33:38 extensive 1:33:39 [Music] 1:33:41 introduction was he not supposed 1:33:44 to promote his 1:33:47 Twitter I don't know was I not supposed 1:33:50 to promote my Twitter 1:33:53 my Twitter is that is that a Tik Tok 1:33:56 thing should I not be promoting other 1:33:58 social channels I I was not promoting my 1:34:00 Twitter I was just I was just telling 1:34:01 you to go support the GPT that we just 1:34:05 published I have a new Theory all right 1:34:07 Sherry D hit us what's your new 1:34:13 [Music] 1:34:16 Theory oh these are 1:34:18 funny the this 1:34:20 is 1:34:24 oh my God those are so 1:34:27 good so this is lisha's X and I think 1:34:31 that's his new girlfriendwife right and 1:34:34 then there's what it turned him into 1:34:36 it's [ __ ] 1:34:39 perfect so there's the original photo so 1:34:42 this is called um uh Dolly round 1:34:45 tripping and so what you should do Lisha 1:34:48 if you haven't done it is round tripping 1:34:50 is do it multiple times 1:34:52 so take the output then put that back in 1:34:55 and have it describe the output and then 1:34:57 make another image and do that like 1:34:58 three times it could they get they get 1:35:00 totally 1:35:01 surreal um I put together an outline of 1:35:04 an AI course for faculty today awesome 1:35:06 brother 52 that's really cool um who was 1:35:09 I talking to today someone someone today 1:35:11 reached out to me on Tik Tok that they 1:35:14 said um they did they they were doing a 1:35:17 half 1:35:18 hour like a half hour overview for their 1:35:21 company of Ai and they said how do I how 1:35:24 do I narrow it down I said you can't do 1:35:26 it in half an hour I said I said do a 1:35:29 weekly lunch and learn and book it for 1:35:30 an hour he got back to me and he goes 1:35:33 okay I just changed it to an hour we're 1:35:34 going to go weekly so that's awesome hey 1:35:37 digital Gods what's happening thank you 1:35:39 very much I appreciate that I appreciate 1:35:43 the Roses the roses mean a lot it means 1:35:47 a lot so do me a favor everyone if you 1:35:49 would share this live so that more 1:35:51 people can can can know what's here and 1:35:53 come in and hang out with us and uh 1:35:57 we'll leave up control control Alman 1:36:01 delete 1:36:03 um yeah that's pretty cool it's it's 1:36:06 going to be interesting to see what the 1:36:07 faculty uh says my screen froze I 1:36:10 thought you got booted I know it's you 1:36:12 get a little skittery man when they when 1:36:14 they booted me yesterday cuz I cuz I I 1:36:17 knew I saw the offending elements but 1:36:20 they were there for like 2 seconds 1:36:22 so I didn't say anything about it and 1:36:24 then they booted me and then I was like 1:36:26 well there's nothing I can do about that 1:36:28 like it was just being generated in real 1:36:30 time 1:36:32 so what are you gonna do sher's new 1:36:35 theory is if she typed faster we would 1:36:37 know 1:36:41 sooner it's what's so nice about the 1:36:45 trolls in here is that is that they're 1:36:48 they're clever and creative and and they 1:36:50 troll in with with 1:36:55 love oh man Mod's Channel okay hold 1:36:58 please let me go to mods channel so 1:37:04 mods all right I'm just reading through 1:37:06 all these comments I wasn't on last 1:37:08 night cuz I'm traveling oh 1:37:10 wait oh wait 1:37:13 where another theory it's it's a po.com 1:37:19 thing oh 1:37:22 someone asked that earlier Sherry and I 1:37:25 I said no it's got nothing to do with po 1:37:27 but you're right the one of the board 1:37:29 members is from 1:37:30 quara which is 1:37:35 Po and they definitely stole the 1:37:37 interface from 1:37:39 po like they stole the explore button 1:37:42 they they stole the little circles down 1:37:44 the 1:37:49 side and and the gpts absolutely 1:37:53 destroy they're just they're so much 1:37:55 more capable than the PO thing so any 1:37:58 momentum that PO 1:38:00 had chat GPT just 1:38:03 killed and maybe that's why 1:38:06 Alman early announced the GPT store so 1:38:10 that PO couldn't compete holy 1:38:15 [ __ ] I bet you're right Sherry I that 1:38:18 that could be it is that not a a 1:38:20 conflict of interest and a half it 1:38:24 is it's a total conflict of interest and 1:38:27 that and that makes the the Adam 1:38:30 D'Angelo is the CEO of 1:38:33 Kora and he's an independent director on 1:38:35 the open AI board so he's he's the 1:38:37 independent director on the 1:38:41 board that makes him look like a [ __ ] 1:38:47 schmuck and my mental break breakdown 1:38:50 not for nothing 1:38:52 you're 1:38:55 sweet 1:38:57 um that's 1:39:02 interesting and if and if Ilia if Ilia 1:39:06 didn't wasn't ready to announce the the 1:39:11 store yeah this is some Palace Intrigue 1:39:15 [ __ ] but I can't imagine I 1:39:20 mean is it really that much of a black 1:39:23 box I mean they're going to be releasing 1:39:24 these thing called 1:39:26 gpts did the board not have maybe the 1:39:30 board never saw them maybe the board saw 1:39:32 the gpts when we saw the 1:39:36 gpts maybe maybe Adam D'Angelo was like 1:39:40 wait that's our [ __ ] 1:39:43 interface cuz how you build them's 1:39:45 almost identical to PO how their 1:39:49 interface is almost identical the 1:39:50 explore Buton buttons almost 1:39:53 identical that's really 1:39:57 interesting huh all 1:39:59 right all right welcome to chat 1:40:03 [Laughter] 1:40:04 TMZ please give a quick breakdown again 1:40:08 about Po and how it connects for 1:40:10 everyone okay all right yeah sorry about 1:40:11 that I'm I'm if you go to po.com that's 1:40:16 story vine.com po.com 1:40:20 okay 1:40:28 okay 1:40:30 so PO is is a whole collection of bots 1:40:34 look familiar seem familiar and they've 1:40:37 got their official Bots are things like 1:40:40 Dolly 3 Claude instant stable diffusion 1:40:43 Claude instant 100,000 chbt chat gbt 16k 1:40:48 chat gbt 432k right so so they've got 1:40:51 all these different 1:40:52 Bots um and then they've got popular 1:40:56 Bots and new Bots and image gen Bots and 1:40:59 history Bots and if you come over here 1:41:02 there's an explore button and down the 1:41:04 left hand side here's you know here's 1:41:07 all the Bots and then here's the explore 1:41:10 button and if you click the explore 1:41:11 button it's you know lots and lots of 1:41:14 bots and they in this case they have 1:41:16 them categorized cuz they're a little 1:41:18 farther along but they're very much like 1:41:22 what we see over there and when you say 1:41:24 create a bot it takes you to this 1:41:26 interface here's a 1:41:29 picture here's the name of the bot 1:41:32 here's the bot Behavior you you use a 1:41:36 prompt or use a server oh so I guess 1:41:38 they might be doing API stuff 1:41:41 here oh they are that's interesting so 1:41:46 so you pick a model here's the different 1:41:48 models you can pick from then you write 1:41:49 your prompt and then you publish your 1:41:51 bux right oh and look now they have 1:41:53 knowledge base add a knowledge source so 1:41:56 this is all new oh that's really 1:41:58 interesting okay so now that's really 1:42:01 interesting so now let's go over here so 1:42:03 here's here's open AI so here's things 1:42:07 down the side open AI used to look like 1:42:09 this right it was your prompt history 1:42:12 and it was chat GPT it was like that and 1:42:17 then when they launched this it sort of 1:42:20 looked like that so here's some Bots 1:42:22 here's the explore button if you click 1:42:25 on the explore button here's create a 1:42:27 GPT if you click on this um and go to 1:42:32 configure here's your upload an image 1:42:34 here's your name here's your description 1:42:36 here's your prompt here's upload files 1:42:39 called knowledge right so that's 1:42:42 identical so this is and then here's 1:42:45 actions and this is implemented kind of 1:42:47 like it just looked like it was the same 1:42:49 over at po 1:42:53 so if the CEO of this 1:42:57 company is sitting on the board of this 1:43:02 company I bet I bet him were I bet him 1:43:06 were pretty old 1:43:08 pissed and then if Ilia didn't like the 1:43:11 idea of the store 1:43:14 anyway and Adam said hey Ilia this is 1:43:18 [ __ ] up you guys can't steal my [ __ ] 1:43:22 there's only so many ways you can make a 1:43:24 custom config interface I know I I don't 1:43:27 disagree pate and like apple is famous 1:43:30 for doing this apple is famous for like 1:43:32 hey that's a really nice piece of 1:43:33 software you got there why don't we just 1:43:35 go ahead and roll that into our 1:43:36 operating system like this is this is 1:43:39 not an uncommon thing in 1:43:42 software but the difference is the CEO 1:43:47 of PO is sitting on the board of chat 1:43:49 chbt so 1:43:54 if if Alman kind of just did this 1:43:57 stuff without keeping him informed and 1:44:00 the first time he saw it was there I 1:44:01 don't this is all speculation but 1:44:03 whatever it's so open AI getting sued do 1:44:06 you think I don't know I mean can a 1:44:09 board member can a board member sue a 1:44:13 company if he's on the 1:44:15 board yeah I don't know I don't know 1:44:17 this is this is It's a fascinating 1:44:19 Theory Sherry I think you're 1:44:21 I think you're you're you're on to 1:44:23 something here Chad TMZ on the case 1:44:28 exactly um po also has monetization $20 1:44:32 per new subscriber 1:44:34 oh interesting 1:44:39 Suzanne yeah I remember seeing that so 1:44:42 if someone but wait but Poots are free 1:44:45 aren't they oh but if someone comes in 1:44:48 through your Bot and then upgrade 1:44:51 upgrades like how do they know they're 1:44:53 upgrading through your Bot that's 1:44:57 weird huh but whatever 1:45:01 okay very interesting Microsoft banned 1:45:03 employees from using chat GPT on 1:45:05 corporate devices due 1:45:08 to data protection concerns and 1:45:12 competition in the AI 1:45:14 Market yeah that doesn't surprise me I I 1:45:17 remember seeing something about 1:45:19 that 1:45:21 [Music] 1:45:22 um oh firing 1:45:25 Sam is preventing a lawsuit oh that's 1:45:29 interesting all right it's not bad it's 1:45:32 not bad not 1:45:35 bad this is really not an issue not a 1:45:38 Sherry d game of AI 1:45:44 Thrones oh man oh you posted that before 1:45:47 okay 1:45:48 great uh da da da da am I late this is 1:45:54 really not an issue not on the AI side 1:45:56 nobody cares what's really not an issue 1:46:00 that they copied the interface 1:46:03 Pate free Mighty Network coins 1:46:08 please I don't know what that means 1:46:10 we're we're not charging for Mighty 1:46:18 networks we're going to start opening 1:46:20 that up on on 1:46:25 Tuesday this interface is not a conflict 1:46:28 of interest oh I 1:46:30 see yeah it may not be but I I don't 1:46:32 know I mean it's an interesting Theory 1:46:34 the like the two the two uh the two 1:46:37 things are quite they are quite similar 1:46:40 they really are they really are very 1:46:43 very Sim similar I mean you 1:46:47 know and and you know it's funny it's 1:46:49 funny with with bard and I mean these 1:46:51 are still human beings that have egos 1:46:54 right so you got a CEO there that's 1:46:58 saying hey I'm giving you you know I'm 1:47:00 giving you my guidance and sharing what 1:47:02 we're learning and you know listen they 1:47:04 have po 1:47:06 has gp4 incorporated into you know it's 1:47:10 it's a big part of this platform are the 1:47:13 are the open AI you know models right so 1:47:17 so they clearly have a deal here but 1:47:19 there's there there could be something 1:47:20 there 1:47:22 although who knows maybe at some point 1:47:24 um open Ai and and cor merge I I don't 1:47:28 know I don't 1:47:30 know it's it's as plausible as anything 1:47:32 like that's the thing like it it it 1:47:34 definitely feels like there is something 1:47:36 in this there there's something 1:47:40 about there's something about the 1:47:42 profitability and monetization that is 1:47:45 just 1:47:46 not obviously they were they were not 1:47:49 not only not on the same page but it it 1:47:51 felt 1:47:53 urgent let me tell you about how 1:47:56 software settings and configs oh my God 1:47:59 this book has a table of contents they 1:48:01 stole my interface yeah I know that's 1:48:03 true that's 1:48:04 true 1:48:06 uh oh wait did we ever did we listen to 1:48:09 the oh we did listen to the Sam Alman 1:48:11 song it wasn't that good all right can 1:48:12 we make a '90s tamagachi pet on these 1:48:16 gpts 1:48:18 um the gpts don't have state right now 1:48:22 so I don't think you could make a 1:48:23 tamagachi you can't go to a you can't go 1:48:25 to a GPT go away to something else then 1:48:28 come back to that GPT and haven't 1:48:30 remember where you were 1:48:32 so I did hear before before Sam Alman 1:48:36 got fired I heard that one of the next 1:48:39 big things coming from open AI was state 1:48:41 that chat GPT was going to start 1:48:43 remembering your 1:48:45 conversations have you tried make real 1:48:47 yet no I haven't let's go see what that 1:48:50 is 1:48:52 it sounds familiar though maybe I've 1:48:54 gone and looked at it 1:48:56 before make real oh draw my U UI yeah I 1:49:00 did I did try 1:49:02 this so wait let me let me do one here 1:49:05 so it was 1:49:10 this 1:49:19 and 1:49:32 and then where's 1:49:38 text A Space 1:49:43 Invaders 1:49:49 game 1:49:51 so you do that and then you 1:49:54 go make 1:49:57 real oh I need to provide an API 1:50:01 key 1:50:11 oh hang on let 1:50:15 me wait how can I do this let's just do 1:50:18 this hold at my lamp for a second let me 1:50:22 go get an API key for a 1:50:27 [Music] 1:50:29 second what are we doing here 1:50:49 go 1:50:58 [Music] 1:51:02 copy all right I think this should work 1:51:04 now all right make real something went 1:51:10 wrong oh first select something to make 1:51:12 real that make real 1:51:18 okay so what this thing is doing is it's 1:51:22 taking it's using Vision to look at the 1:51:25 thing I 1:51:26 drew and then when you say make real 1:51:28 it's going off and coding that and it's 1:51:30 like it's interpreting 1:51:35 this all right it made it made breakout 1:51:39 more than Space 1:51:44 Invaders 1:51:49 um 1:52:12 get rid of that go down here go that 1:52:15 hide that make that make real let's see 1:52:18 if this does it any better by the way 1:52:20 report says Alman had 30 minutes notice 1:52:22 yeah something [ __ ] major went down 1:52:25 where the board felt that they were at 1:52:28 risk as if he was in the building any 1:52:31 longer th yeah this 1:52:33 is all right it's not moving I saw 1:52:35 someone did one of these where these 1:52:36 things were actually moving but this is 1:52:38 like these are all I forget how you see 1:52:41 the code for 1:52:43 these 1:52:45 um but anyway the code behind this thing 1:52:48 is this it here copy 1:52:52 so if I go here and I go here and I go 1:52:55 here and I go here yeah there's there's 1:52:57 the code so that's the code it wrote to 1:53:04 interpret that thing into that thing so 1:53:09 the the you know is this thing actually 1:53:11 useful right now no but this starts to 1:53:15 you 1:53:16 know with a lot of this AI stuff right 1:53:19 now what you have to do is kind of put 1:53:20 two and two together to see where this 1:53:22 stuff is headed and you know where it's 1:53:24 headed is just like you can speak a GPT 1:53:27 into existence you're going to be able 1:53:28 to speak any kind of application into 1:53:30 existence and then you're going to be 1:53:32 able to speak like 3D worlds into 1:53:34 existence and then you're going to be 1:53:35 able to speak movies into existence and 1:53:37 you're going to be able to speak 1:53:39 characters into existence and um so 1:53:43 so yeah that's it's cuckoo it's cuckoo 1:53:47 it's crazy it's all this stuff is nuts 1:53:49 but 1:53:51 what a weird what a weird and wacky wild 1:53:54 and wacky night a wild wacky I'll make a 1:53:59 PO killing bot can you use your API from 1:54:02 chat GPT uh I'm yeah you use your your 1:54:05 API from open AI it's it's not a chat 1:54:08 GPT API but it's the if if you have a 1:54:11 your API from the open AI playground 1:54:13 that's that's the API that I used the 1:54:16 key that I 1:54:18 used m um that's actually a cool lamp 1:54:22 it's very Denver that was actually 1:54:25 bought 1:54:26 in Connecticut I think my wife had a 1:54:30 staging business in Connecticut 1:54:35 Connecticut killing an animal to make a 1:54:37 lamp yeah those are not real but and I 1:54:40 don't I don't think those kind of 1:54:42 horns maybe they would kill for them I 1:54:45 don't know but those aren't real they 1:54:47 are not 1:54:49 real I thought that was the three shells 1:54:52 po doesn't like Canada apparently 1:54:55 not by the way report says okay pleasure 1:54:59 I share I'm a sharer did you kill a 1:55:02 walrus for that lamp no we actually have 1:55:04 it's funny we've got two we've got a 1:55:06 male and a female um stuffed tortoise my 1:55:11 wife's uncle was a taxidermist in like 1:55:14 [Music] 1:55:15 the 40s or 50s in Cuba and these were 1:55:19 two 1:55:20 tortoises so they're grandfathered in 1:55:22 from a historical perspective but 1:55:24 they're pretty 1:55:26 amazing ilas says this is the board 1:55:29 doing its Duty and the mission for the 1:55:31 nonprofit build AGI for Humanity 1:55:35 interesting well I mean listen it's 1:55:38 possible that that this move shifts 1:55:41 things with the Microsoft relationship 1:55:43 maybe it shifts things back 1:55:45 to more open Open Standards I I don't 1:55:49 know I I 1:55:50 mean 1:55:52 crazy it's 1:55:56 crazy why you almost got banned because 1:56:00 an AI that I was working with made some 1:56:03 some lady Parts visible for like 2 1:56:05 seconds and the AI the AI saw the lady 1:56:09 bits and said you're banned 1:56:13 permanently and then I appealed it and 1:56:15 apparently they went and looked at it 1:56:17 and said yeah that's not cuz it was just 1:56:20 like a painting and it was only there 1:56:21 for like 2 seconds and it was in the 1:56:22 middle of a conversation not at all 1:56:25 about that so it was 1:56:27 weird will Society move from video games 1:56:30 to self-made playtime Genie in a Bottle 1:56:32 that's a really good yes I think it will 1:56:35 I 1:56:39 think it's not that we move from video 1:56:43 games it's that everything from work to 1:56:47 entertainment to video games becomes 1:56:49 hyper 1:56:51 personalized so you know right now it's 1:56:55 a it's a Friday night and you're like 1:56:57 what are we going to do tonight honey I 1:56:58 know let's go watch Kyle on Tik Tok said 1:57:02 said too many 1:57:04 people um but but you know you sit down 1:57:07 you think about okay what are we going 1:57:08 to do tonight and then you're like well 1:57:10 do we want to go to the movies or do we 1:57:11 want to stay home and watch TV or do we 1:57:13 want to watch the Tik Tok or whatever it 1:57:15 is and I think I think in in 1:57:21 relatively short order probably within 1:57:23 two or three 1:57:26 years it's going to be like I want to 1:57:28 see the movie I want to see and it will 1:57:32 generate a narrative for you that's got 1:57:35 your favorite stars in it and your 1:57:37 favorite plotline and your favorite kind 1:57:39 of movie or you just say hey I'm kind of 1:57:42 in the mood for a video game but I want 1:57:44 it to be mindless trigger Twitchy kind 1:57:46 of stuff so I want it to look like a 1:57:47 platformer but I want it to be trigger 1:57:49 Twitchy 1:57:50 and and I think same for work that 1:57:54 you're just going to sort of talk stuff 1:57:55 into existence hey I need I need a this 1:57:57 I need a that I need you know I need an 1:57:59 application that does this or that and 1:58:01 so I think everything becomes very very 1:58:05 I need it I ask for it I get it I need 1:58:07 it I ask for it I get it and and and 1:58:10 applications become disposable media in 1:58:13 a lot of ways becomes disposable it's 1:58:15 like nothing is is precious anymore 1:58:18 because it's all infinitely creatable 1:58:21 like the stuff that Lish was showing 1:58:22 where she took photos and then turned 1:58:24 those into those cool pictures well at 1:58:26 some point she's going to be able to 1:58:27 take that photo and say okay put these 1:58:29 two people in a half hour I got a half 1:58:31 an hour to kill let's see a story where 1:58:33 those two rob a bank and it'll just take 1:58:37 that picture make them into characters 1:58:39 come up with the plot animate it write 1:58:41 the dialogue write the background music 1:58:44 and she'll just watch her 20 minute you 1:58:46 know bank robbery shoot them up with you 1:58:49 know whoever was in the picture she 1:58:54 uploaded half super bowl half ball 1:58:57 showing trouble stuff huh I didn't know 1:59:01 what that 1:59:02 meant all 1:59:12 right my brother has a narwhal tus 1:59:14 collection oh those things are 1:59:17 cool do you use pine cone do you have 1:59:20 your own 1:59:21 data um I 1:59:25 have we're using Lang chain for a 1:59:29 project right now but I don't think I 1:59:32 don't think we're doing embeddings with 1:59:34 it right now I just think we're using it 1:59:35 for other stuff so I don't I I mean I I 1:59:39 set up a pine cone database at one point 1:59:41 but I haven't really done anything with 1:59:43 it I'm too I'm too add and too um 1:59:48 there's too much going on in the in the 1:59:50 non- geeky side of things um to keep up 1:59:54 with that if I sort of run down geeky 1:59:56 rabbit holes where I'm not really as 1:59:58 good it's just going to it's just going 2:00:00 to it's just going to make me 2:00:02 insane yeah not even two seconds with 2:00:05 the with the lady Parts before I got 2:00:07 banned I know it was ridiculous it 2:00:08 really 2:00:09 was Kyle I used to live on kfax is it 2:00:12 still terrible it really is like they're 2:00:14 they're try you know what's funny Pate 2:00:16 is is like they're you know they're 2:00:19 knocking down some buildings and they're 2:00:21 putting up new ones but it's just like 2:00:23 that whole [ __ ] stretch it's miles of 2:00:27 just what did they call it the the the 2:00:31 wickedest the wickedest longest street 2:00:33 in America is what they called kfax 2:00:36 Avenue in Denver cuz it was the it was 2:00:38 the original route 70 that went over the 2:00:40 Rocky Mountains so the so like the 10 or 2:00:44 15 miles before you get to the base of 2:00:46 the Rockies was just all these you know 2:00:49 low-end motels and so it's just like 2:00:51 hookers and drug dealers that's what 2:00:53 it's always been and that's what it 2:00:55 still is and they keep trying to fix it 2:00:57 up but it's just it's hookers and drug 2:01:00 dealers and vagrants it's it's it's 2:01:03 still pretty bad but that's where C 2:01:05 casab Bonita is so you know and and the 2:01:08 South Park guys bought that apparently 2:01:10 the food there is not bad 2:01:15 anymore VR Gaming directed by AI is the 2:01:18 future yeah I know 2:01:20 the dynamically created video games is 2:01:23 going to be 2:01:24 crazy there's an important grock 2:01:26 announcement now 2:01:29 oh are you 2:01:33 serious if you pay the 16 bucks you get 2:01:36 immediate access to grock I pay 2:01:43 it oh good a bunch of you liked my chat 2:01:46 TMZ tweet thank 2:01:48 you 2:01:51 hopefully that gets some 2:01:52 action you all are sweet um let's go to 2:01:57 wait live on 2:01:58 X Robert sco's talking about Sam Alman 2:02:01 and Brockman being 2:02:04 out um let's look up 2:02:07 grock are you sure it's immediate access 2:02:09 or was this just the announcement they 2:02:10 did 2:02:16 before check out my GPT I don't see an 2:02:21 announcement let me go to x. 2:02:31 a i it doesn't look like it's live 2:02:34 yet grock it's still announced November 2:02:43 4th but if you know something different 2:02:45 music makes a smile let me know if I can 2:02:47 find it David Shapiro latest YouTube was 2:02:49 really interesting it was I don't know 2:02:51 which one you're talking about the last 2:02:52 one I saw of his was really interesting 2:02:55 if you don't know David Shapiro he's 2:02:57 worth he's worth you looking 2:03:00 up I think he's Dave 2:03:02 shap Well here here's a Dave shap Sam 2:03:05 mman 2:03:07 [Music] 2:03:12 fired okay so I just saw the bombshell 2:03:14 news that Sam Alman was fired as CEO of 2:03:17 open AI now there are two facts of this 2:03:20 because I read the whole Announcement by 2:03:22 open AI there are two facts that are 2:03:24 very interesting so the first is that a 2:03:27 uh successor CEO has not been found or 2:03:30 appointed instead they're they're 2:03:32 appointing an interim CEO now this isn't 2:03:34 entirely uncommon when a board decides 2:03:37 decides to fire a CEO but usually you 2:03:39 decide to fire a CEO because there is a 2:03:42 usually a pretty Grievous misalignment 2:03:45 um of values or needs so in some cases 2:03:48 I've heard stories of CE is being fired 2:03:50 for drug abuse and addiction I don't 2:03:53 think that's the case here um but it 2:03:55 does sound like all right let's go see 2:03:57 what his last video 2:04:00 was cuz that one's obviously that 2:04:04 one 2:04:05 [Music] 2:04:12 um oh post AGI economics this is the one 2:04:16 I just saw this one's really good gave 2:04:19 it talk last night to a bunch of 2:04:21 students at Clemson University that 2:04:22 one's really good all right go look at 2:04:24 elon's 2:04:26 latest posts all right let's go do 2:04:34 that um it would not surprise me at all 2:04:39 if Elon pushed grock live before it was 2:04:42 ready because Altman got fired like I 2:04:46 the I I wouldn't be at all surprised to 2:04:49 hear if there wasn't some pressure 2:04:50 campaign by musk to make that happen 2:04:53 also um 2:04:56 Elon Elon 2:04:59 Musk grock announcing 2:05:03 grock feels like a breakthrough 2:05:11 day that's super cool standing 2:05:13 underneath starship's 33 2:05:18 engines 2:05:25 I still don't 2:05:28 see this is just the 2:05:30 announcement isn't 2:05:40 it yeah I don't see it all right if it's 2:05:43 there let me know I can't find it 2:05:46 anywhere but while you're over on Ed 2:05:50 go to Kyle 2:05:55 Shannon go to Kyle 2:05:58 Shannon and where's my 2:06:01 profile and look there's that post that 2:06:04 would be that would be a good one to 2:06:08 like the chat TMZ 2:06:16 post every dull moment people 2:06:20 I'm hiding under my bed I didn't see the 2:06:23 launch today we'll look 2:06:25 later did did did Starship launch today 2:06:29 if it did let's go look at 2:06:31 it did it launch today really I knew it 2:06:34 was supposed to be this week Starship 2:06:39 launch pre-launch 2:06:43 party nine hours 2:06:45 ago set to launch again 2:06:50 Let's go ask chat JP 2:07:01 T did 2:07:04 SpaceX Starship launch recently or is it 2:07:07 about to 2:07:17 launch the timing of the dignitaries 2:07:20 visiting 2:07:23 California with Sam mman getting booted 2:07:26 I doubt 2:07:28 it that does not feel Starship it was 2:07:31 scheduled to launch today but it seems 2:07:34 there's been a delay the new plan 2:07:35 launches 2:07:36 tomorrow cool 20 minute launch window 2:07:40 8:00 a.m. EST so that's 6: a.m. my time 2:07:44 I'll get up for 2:07:47 that a live stream of the launch will 2:07:49 begin at 7:30 EST all right cool it's 2:07:52 like when they fired Steve Jobs well 2:07:54 it's like when they fired Steve Jobs 2:07:56 except there there was clearly friction 2:07:59 with the board and Steve Jobs long 2:08:01 before they fired him like that was the 2:08:03 writing was on the wall for that one I 2:08:06 there was no public writing on the wall 2:08:08 here like there might have been a lot of 2:08:09 tensions there that we didn't know about 2:08:11 the apple one was was a lot more a lot 2:08:14 more visible than this one like like the 2:08:18 the Steve Jobs one as I recall it was 2:08:20 just it was more a shock that like you 2:08:22 can't why would you get rid of someone 2:08:25 like Steve Jobs you know that's that 2:08:27 important to that brand um and I I I 2:08:30 feel the same way with this one but this 2:08:31 one really feel feels like it came out 2:08:33 of left 2:08:36 field um yeah they the uh all right 2:08:39 that's that Ilia Chief scientist said it 2:08:42 was a hostile takeover I had a feeling 2:08:45 when where did he say that music makes 2:08:47 us smile let me let's go look up 2:09:17 Elia 2:09:21 he didn't say 2:09:22 anything he didn't tweet 2:09:47 anything 2:09:49 there's six seats on open ai's board it 2:09:51 takes four four votes for majority Sam 2:09:54 and and uh Greg Brockman obviously voted 2:09:57 against that means Ilia and Adam the the 2:10:01 quar CEO both voted for 2:10:04 currently the open AI nonprofit board of 2:10:07 directors is made up of chairman and 2:10:09 president Greg 2:10:10 Brockman Ilia Sam Alman Adam D'Angelo 2:10:14 Tasha and Helen 2:10:15 toner everyone assumes Sam and Greg were 2:10:19 the vital core of 2:10:21 AI but I've always had a sense that it 2:10:24 was Ilia and Andre 2:10:26 karpathy probably a dozen guys whose the 2:10:28 name of the media don't know that's 2:10:30 probably 2:10:35 true 2:10:38 huh strange strange 2:10:45 strange if ilas said it was a hostile 2:10:48 takeover I don't know what that means 2:10:49 was it Sam and Greg trying to do a 2:10:53 hostile takeover and then it backfired 2:10:57 or why would why would Ilia say it was a 2:11:00 hostile takeover if he voted for it 2:11:03 maybe he was forced I don't know this 2:11:06 this is all morning your regulars hey 2:11:07 Edgar what's 2:11:08 happening go to Caris Swisher's Twitter 2:11:11 it has it all scooped 2:11:16 okay Cara swe 2:11:37 so all conspiracy theories aside Caris 2:11:39 Swisher nailed it again more 2:11:42 scoopage sources tell me Chief scientist 2:11:45 Ilia 2:11:47 Susa was at the Center of this 2:11:49 increasing tensions with Sam and Greg 2:11:51 Brockman over the role of role and 2:11:54 influence and he got the board on his 2:11:57 side 2:11:59 interesting the developer day and how 2:12:02 the store was introduced was inflection 2:12:05 moment of Alman pushing it too far too 2:12:08 fast my bet he'll have a new company set 2:12:11 up by Monday yeah I agree with that like 2:12:14 I if if if Sam mman doesn't have $30 2:12:16 billion in an account waiting for him 2:12:19 right now I would be 2:12:21 surprised CU cuz you do you know how 2:12:24 many piles of money are sitting on the 2:12:27 sidelines going holy [ __ ] we can invest 2:12:29 in Sam Alman are you [ __ ] kidding me 2:12:32 he's not going to be down for long but 2:12:34 that's really 2:12:36 interesting the next shoe to drop this 2:12:39 was 19 minutes ago the next shoe to drop 2:12:42 has to be Sam Alman Greg Brockman take 2:12:46 followed soon by the announcement of a 2:12:47 new company back by everyone who matters 2:12:49 in AI lawsuit aimed at the board of open 2:12:52 AI unless they can show a very Smoking 2:12:55 Gun 2:12:57 interesting 2:13:00 interesting more on open AI several 2:13:02 sources told me the told me Bor told Sam 2:13:06 Alman 30 minutes in advance Brockman 2:13:09 five minutes in advance about the move 2:13:12 Brockman is chair so not sure how that 2:13:14 worked Microsoft was also told just 2:13:17 before an employee is not told in 2:13:19 advance by the way talk to Major Silicon 2:13:23 Valley figures very close to open AI 2:13:24 none of them had any idea this was 2:13:26 coming this is one wacky 2:13:32 board looks like I was 2:13:34 correct in my scoopage you can call it 2:13:37 this way Ilia said about the coup 2:13:41 allegation and I can understand why you 2:13:44 chose this word but I disagree with this 2:13:46 this was the board doing its duty to the 2:13:49 mission of the nonprofit which is to 2:13:51 make open AI build AGI that benefits 2:13:53 Humanity AGI stands for artificial 2:13:56 general intelligence okay when suska was 2:13:58 asked whether these back room removals 2:14:01 are a good way to govern the most 2:14:02 important company in the world he 2:14:03 answered I mean 2:14:05 fair I agree 2:14:08 that there is not an ideal element to it 2:14:12 100% holy 2:14:14 [ __ ] Jesus Christ Palace coup 2:14:22 wow 2:14:31 wow interim CEO mirror moradi told staff 2:14:35 in a companywide meeting that its 2:14:37 relationship with micro Microsoft its 2:14:39 biggest outside source of capital was 2:14:42 stable following the sudden firing of 2:14:45 CEO 2:14:47 ultman 2:14:51 yeah so it sounds like Ilia Ilia and 2:14:55 Adam got him booted [ __ ] 2:14:59 Christ wow all right well there you have 2:15:02 it 2:15:04 people there you have 2:15:09 [Music] 2:15:17 it this is this is from Be not Afraid IH 2:15:22 heart 2:15:27 Poe it's pretty 2:15:29 [Laughter] 2:15:34 good nice Silver Fox her and her man out 2:15:39 on a road trip today that's super cool 2:15:41 nice 2:15:47 piece 2:15:50 wild wild stuff it's wild and wacky 2:15:53 stuff I'm harck 2:16:11 Carey all right I need some water hang 2:16:14 on people just calm your jets cool out 2:16:18 let's see let's go let's make let's make 2:16:20 a pretty picture let's put a pretty 2:16:21 picture in here shall we oh that's a 2:16:23 nice one I like that 2:16:26 one and we go like this and we'll go 2:16:29 like this and we'll go like this and we 2:16:30 go like this oh that's so nice that's so 2:16:38 pretty 2:16:42 [Music] 2:16:44 okay I don't understand explain it to me 2:16:46 like I'm five Kyle 2:16:57 okay so on the board you've 2:17:02 got Greg Brockman who's the chairman Sam 2:17:05 Alman so president 2:17:08 CEO and then you've got Ilia who's the 2:17:12 the chief scientist and 2:17:14 co-founder and then you got this Adam 2:17:17 dude D'Angelo who's the CEO of 2:17:21 quar so one of 2:17:25 Sherry's um uh predictions or or 2:17:31 theories conspiracy theories was that 2:17:34 there was 2:17:35 some uh some bad blood around the PO 2:17:39 interface with the gpts and and I said 2:17:42 when the gpts first launched I said 2:17:44 these look a lot like Po I didn't 2:17:46 realize the CEO of quora from po was on 2:17:50 open ai's board so the fact that the 2:17:52 gpts look as much as they do like look 2:17:57 like the PO Bots 2:18:01 um may or may not have been a sticking 2:18:03 point with Adam but it it certainly 2:18:05 might have uh leaned him in a 2:18:08 direction away from Sam 2:18:11 Alman um and then and then one of the 2:18:17 um one of 2:18:21 the 2:18:23 engineers from from open AI on Twitter 2:18:26 said 2:18:28 that the fact that Sam in the keynote on 2:18:33 dev day announced that there would be a 2:18:35 GPT store and that there would be 2:18:37 Revenue 2:18:40 sharing was apparently a rogue move 2:18:42 effectively that that people that he was 2:18:45 not supposed to announce that then and 2:18:47 not everyone agreed with that and 2:18:49 Ilia the chief scientist was one of them 2:18:52 and it sound like what the Caris swisser 2:18:55 thing was was that there have been 2:18:56 building tensions between Sam Alman and 2:19:00 Greg Brockman over here and Ilia over 2:19:03 here and so it sounds like Ilia teamed 2:19:07 up with Adam and then got the other two 2:19:10 board members to vote Yes to kick these 2:19:13 two 2:19:14 out and so it it it was some about you 2:19:19 know building tensions the fact that um 2:19:24 Sam announced the store and the Rev 2:19:26 sharing 2:19:27 thing um put enough pressure that 2:19:30 basically said this is this goes against 2:19:33 what our core mission is and convinced 2:19:35 them to do it so they booted them and 2:19:38 now they're going to take it in whatever 2:19:40 like whatever Direction Sam was taking 2:19:42 it in from a revenue and profitability 2:19:44 standpoint did not sit well with with 2:19:47 the other two 2:19:48 so I don't know I don't know if this 2:19:50 means it 2:19:51 gets more open more closed I like I 2:19:55 don't [ __ ] 2:19:56 know the interim CEO says our 2:19:59 relationship with Microsoft is fine but 2:20:02 she would say that because you don't 2:20:04 want to say hey we just we just fired 2:20:06 the you know ostensibly the most 2:20:08 powerful popular man in Ai and the other 2:20:12 co-founder and and oh by the way 2:20:14 Microsoft's pissed off too so like even 2:20:16 if Microsoft is pissed off she's not 2:20:19 going to say that 2:20:21 so I don't know watch Microsoft do a 2:20:24 flex move on this well you know what's 2:20:25 interesting eye of China is 2:20:27 Microsoft you know they invested in they 2:20:32 invested $500 million maybe a billion in 2:20:37 um in anthropic and 2:20:41 Claude and they did another big 2:20:43 investment in something else so like 2:20:45 they're they're maybe in meta oh yeah 2:20:48 Microsoft when when meta open sourced 2:20:51 llama 2 Microsoft was like a launch 2:20:54 partner for that or whatever like 2:20:56 they're doing they're doing some sort of 2:20:57 support for for the Llama 2 thing for 2:21:00 meta so Microsoft has not been exclusive 2:21:04 to open AI at all they've they've been 2:21:06 putting bets other places which is 2:21:09 smart 2:21:11 um but but Microsoft is so invested in 2:21:16 open AI the the 2:21:18 I mean this a ballsy move it's a ballsy 2:21:22 move it was it's it sounds like it was a 2:21:24 palace coup this is Palace in intrigue 2:21:27 stuff 2:21:29 crazy 2:21:31 crazy Microsoft can just hire him 2:21:33 directly I suppose so I don't know that 2:21:37 if I were Sam Alman I don't know that 2:21:39 I'd have any interest in going to work 2:21:41 for 2:21:43 Microsoft because he can write his own 2:21:45 ticket now he can like he's going to go 2:21:47 out there and 2:21:49 I I think whoever I think it was car 2:21:50 swis swisser said you know Sam alman's 2:21:53 going to have a company open by Monday 2:21:55 like it's probably not going to be too 2:21:56 far from 2:21:58 that Greg Greg Al uh Greg Brockman is 2:22:02 the was the president co-founder and 2:22:06 chairman of the board of open 2:22:12 AI they're going to slow it 2:22:14 down yeah yeah so Sam and who are out 2:22:18 Greg Greg Brockman okay so Sam Alman and 2:22:23 GRE Greg 2:22:25 Brockman CEO Sam president Greg Greg was 2:22:30 chairman of the board I don't know what 2:22:33 Sam's Ro was just director I 2:22:36 suppose and then over on the other side 2:22:39 you had Ilia 2:22:42 sukova Adam D'Angelo from quara and then 2:22:45 there's two women I don't know what 2:22:46 their backgrounds are are but but the 2:22:49 board was six people and the board 2:22:51 needed a four person majority to to take 2:22:53 a major action like firing the 2:22:56 CEO and so what Caris swisser is 2:23:00 reporting is that Ilia and Sam and Greg 2:23:06 were having tensions anyway and 2:23:08 apparently Dev day was the straw that 2:23:11 broke the camels back and Ilia convinced 2:23:14 the other three on the board to vote 2:23:16 them out and so that's apparently what 2:23:18 happened and they told Sam 30 minutes 2:23:21 before they fired him and they told Greg 2:23:23 Brockman 5 minutes with before they 2:23:26 fired 2:23:35 him drama 2:23:41 drama Microsoft can just hire him 2:23:44 directly Greg we talked about that Sam 2:23:47 wman go goes on vacate with his money he 2:23:50 will go work for 2:23:52 himself he's not going to work for 2:23:54 himself he's going to go start another 2:23:55 company he's that that's going to be the 2:23:58 he he he's the architect of the software 2:24:02 that was the fastest adoption in history 2:24:04 and he's going to be the first the first 2:24:07 startup with a um with a 20 billion seed 2:24:12 round oh my god did you hear what Ilia 2:24:14 said no what did Ilia say what did you 2:24:17 say Pate oh wait can we Let's go ask 2:24:20 Let's go ask chat 2:24:22 TMZ hang on I'm going to chat TMZ where 2:24:27 is it where are you chat TMZ here we 2:24:32 go all right the constant back and forth 2:24:36 of they said 2:24:38 this but then they said 2:24:43 this I didn't I didn't see it um what 2:24:48 did Ilia 2:24:50 [Music] 2:24:52 say recently about 2:24:58 this oh it was a joke oh 2:25:03 okay you know you know Pate text comedy 2:25:06 comedy in text is never a good 2:25:09 [Laughter] 2:25:16 thing IIA has been stirring the pot 2:25:18 recently with some pretty intriguing 2:25:26 comments that's 2:25:43 funny Sam's new company opener AI all 2:25:46 the employees these are 2:25:48 Bots good good thing I'm not funny 2:25:53 thing oh 2:25:56 man all right what else we want to do we 2:25:59 want to do anything 2:26:01 else who gets advanced warning when they 2:26:03 are getting fired well when when it's 2:26:06 someone as visible as Sam 2:26:11 Alman that's 2:26:13 it like the the the repercussions from 2:26:16 this are they're going to Ripple for a 2:26:31 while dang it P we're all trying to be 2:26:34 mind on other people's business and 2:26:36 don't play with us that's 2:26:43 good like the Sands Through The 2:26:45 Hourglass these are the days of a 2:26:47 [Laughter] 2:26:59 [Music] 2:27:05 guy any specific prompts in particular 2:27:09 that you plugged into chat GPT that 2:27:11 amazed you new to the tool 2:27:16 um 2:27:26 so 2:27:29 the I don't know that this amazed me the 2:27:32 the the thing that is the biggest 2:27:34 difference if you're new to chat GPT the 2:27:36 thing that is the biggest difference for 2:27:38 me between that and a Google search 2:27:43 is don't think about it as a single 2:27:45 prompt think about every chat GPT 2:27:48 interaction as a conversation where you 2:27:51 want to give chat GPT lots of context so 2:27:53 with Google you type you know I want um 2:27:57 I don't know dog vitamins you just put 2:28:00 in dog vitamins and then Google will 2:28:02 figure out what that means and they'll 2:28:03 go find you all the dog vitamin people 2:28:05 right with chat GPT it's more like you 2:28:09 know I want you to act as a 2:28:12 veter a Veterinary Specialist that 2:28:15 specializes in K9 drugs and I've got a 2:28:19 lab and the lab's this years this many 2:28:21 years old and and you know he's a little 2:28:25 gassy I'm trying to figure out if it's 2:28:27 his thing and this and that can you help 2:28:29 me figure out you know which vitamins I 2:28:31 should put him on to 2:28:33 help and then you give them all that 2:28:35 instructions and it'll give you back an 2:28:36 answer and then if the answer gives you 2:28:38 back isn't quite right you can say no 2:28:40 that wasn't quite right do this so one 2:28:42 of the biggest things for me is just 2:28:45 that mental shift of it's more like 2:28:48 you're working with an incredibly 2:28:50 well-educated intern that's totally 2:28:53 clueless right so you can ask them 2:28:55 anything and they know lots but if you 2:28:58 try to get them to do something really 2:28:59 specific that you think is obvious it's 2:29:01 not obvious to them so you got to tell 2:29:03 them like who they are and what they do 2:29:05 and all of the information that you feel 2:29:09 like you shouldn't have to tell anyone 2:29:10 cuz it's obvious so all the stuff that's 2:29:12 relevant to you you have to give 2:29:14 it and then all the stuff it knows is 2:29:17 essentially infinite it's just insane so 2:29:21 just that idea of going back and forth 2:29:23 is probably the biggest the biggest 2:29:24 single thing the other thing for me 2:29:26 right now that is mindblowing is not 2:29:29 even really prompting it's it can see 2:29:32 images they call it gptv so if you click 2:29:35 on the little um here let's we'll go do 2:29:38 one I I'll go show you 2:29:41 one because now you can use images as 2:29:44 prompts and you're like but how what 2:29:46 does mean I do not know what you mean oh 2:29:49 hey Mark oh 2:29:52 hi um I'm going to go get a whiteboard 2:30:06 picture Okay 2:30:09 so there's a whiteboard picture I'm 2:30:12 going to say what is this that is the 2:30:15 least interesting prompt 2:30:17 you could possibly write and there's a 2:30:20 whiteboard right and it's got this has 2:30:22 got like some functions and some 2:30:25 audience members and some questions and 2:30:28 then it's got some sketches of some 2:30:31 software so chat gbt the image you 2:30:34 uploaded appears to be a photo 2:30:35 whiteboard of a handwritten notes 2:30:37 drawn with wireframe sketches typically 2:30:40 used in the planning and design phase of 2:30:42 user interface for a digital product the 2:30:44 notes and sketches are related to an 2:30:47 ordering UI which is correct focused at 2:30:50 an airport context mentioning 2:30:53 international airports and addressing 2:30:54 the needs of users and business families 2:30:58 so the Whiteboard is divided into 2:31:00 ordering UI users main steps wireframe 2:31:04 sketches all right so it tells us what 2:31:06 it is um I'm going to say 2:31:12 um doign well let's say um tell 2:31:17 me about the 2:31:19 app and what you might call 2:31:32 it ordering food and drinks payment 2:31:34 functionality toilet finder 2:31:38 hello flight status takeout auctions the 2:31:41 Whiteboard also in terms of 2:31:44 naming it should be something indicative 2:31:46 of of it function and easy for travelers 2:31:48 to recognize quick gate fly bite 2:31:51 terminal tap Jet Set Go which is 2:31:54 actually really good Arrow eats gatemate 2:31:57 Sky 2:31:59 snacks I like Jet Set Go can 2:32:08 you 2:32:10 um 2:32:12 visualize a 2:32:15 marketing 2:32:18 poster in an 2:32:21 airport for 2:32:30 it so I said can you visualize a 2:32:33 marketing poster in an 2:32:35 airport uh for it incorporating the 2:32:38 interface so so I've now gone from a 2:32:42 whiteboard to what is this whiteboard oh 2:32:45 it's an interface okay tell me about the 2:32:47 app here it is name the app here's your 2:32:49 name oh error creating the image 2:32:53 why it seems there's an issue with 2:32:55 generating images right now so I'm just 2:32:58 going to go try 2:33:01 again Sam wman was fired I can't make 2:33:04 pictures I'm in 2:33:05 [Laughter] 2:33:08 mourning all right let's just stop that 2:33:11 and we'll say try 2:33:13 again maybe it'll work this time I was 2:33:16 offline for bit anything interesting 2:33:18 happening 2:33:21 today that's good retr Punk that's solid 2:33:25 try 2:33:37 again they keep putting things out yeah 2:33:40 it might slow down a bit in an attempt 2:33:42 to be cautious though it's one of the 2:33:44 biggest Pros they keep putting things 2:33:45 out yep I agree with with that say 2:33:48 please creating image it says it's 2:33:50 creating the 2:33:52 image I'll do one more thing here now it 2:33:54 didn't do it okay it's not going to make 2:33:56 the image the last two times I've tried 2:33:57 to demo this it doesn't make images 2:33:59 which pisses me off but uh but now I can 2:34:01 go like this I can go 2:34:07 um okay oops hang 2:34:12 on 2:34:14 okay recommend a frontend and backend 2:34:18 technology strategy and then code the 2:34:21 interface for the toilet 2:34:25 finder as well as the backend hooks to 2:34:28 the 2:34:37 database when designing an app like Jet 2:34:40 Set Go You' probably need to consider 2:34:41 both front-end and backend Technologies 2:34:43 framework Library react native or 2:34:46 flutter 2:34:47 backend node.js or python database 2:34:51 postgress mongod DB apis restful apis or 2:34:57 graphql technology strategy code samples 2:35:01 for the toilet finder interface 2:35:05 so this this kind of stuff is the stuff 2:35:08 that's blowing my mind right now 2:35:11 where the prompt is not a prompt right 2:35:16 like all these people talking about you 2:35:17 need to learn prompt engineering and you 2:35:19 got to do this and you got to do that no 2:35:21 what you actually need to what you 2:35:22 actually need to learn is is get curious 2:35:25 about just in general there are going to 2:35:27 be inputs and there are going to be 2:35:29 outputs and understanding what are all 2:35:32 the kinds of inputs some of the kinds of 2:35:34 inputs are really clever prompts and 2:35:37 that's it's going to help you to 2:35:38 understand how to do that but there's so 2:35:40 much you can do without sophisticated 2:35:43 prompting so um 2:35:47 so for for me that's this is the kind of 2:35:49 stuff that's most mind-blowing there's 2:35:51 another thing that you can do called um 2:35:54 um GPT round tripping which which I was 2:35:57 talking about earlier but I'll I'll show 2:35:59 you an example of this is really 2:36:01 fun 2:36:05 um let me go find 2:36:15 some 2:36:24 I think I did this one once this was a 2:36:25 cool one all right so we're going to 2:36:28 we're going to drag this in here so I 2:36:31 have a picture of a little Bambi thank 2:36:33 you Sher bear I have a picture of a 2:36:34 little 2:36:36 Bambi and I'm going to say 2:36:40 describe this in as 2:36:43 much detail as 2:36:51 possible and so it's going to do that oh 2:36:54 that's just a cute little deer look at a 2:36:56 cute little deer little Bambi look 2:36:58 little Bambi very cute it's a cute 2:37:01 little deer all right so it went off now 2:37:04 it's describing it oh we might not be 2:37:07 able to do this because the image 2:37:08 generation was down oh dang it all right 2:37:11 well let's see we'll try 2:37:15 it so there it is that's describing say 2:37:19 um now recreate that based on your 2:37:39 description maybe chat is pouting I know 2:37:42 chat's sad chat so 2:37:45 sad so it's definitely a net negative 2:37:47 for the company even if it's arguably 2:37:49 better in the long run yeah if this was 2:37:51 really bad timing on the year year 2:37:54 anniversary all right so there's there's 2:37:57 the version of it I'm going to say um 2:38:00 now 2:38:02 describe that 2:38:07 [Music] 2:38:15 image 2:38:22 recreate 2:38:27 it wonder if it sees n NT as 2:38:31 it yep I guess 2:38:42 so Nvidia has issues right now oh that's 2:38:45 a cool one 2:38:47 so you can just keep going back and 2:38:48 forth like this and and again it's like 2:38:51 you know what's the real prompting here 2:38:53 I don't know it's it's like it's as much 2:38:55 the image as anything it's just you know 2:38:57 sort of the idea of just play and 2:38:59 experiment and you know push the 2:39:01 boundaries of this thing figure out 2:39:03 where the edges of it 2:39:08 [Music] 2:39:15 are 2:39:16 all right I think I'm winding down I 2:39:19 went on a little early tonight so I'm 2:39:21 getting a little sleepy getting a little 2:39:23 sleepy people let's go let's go look at 2:39:26 wait so hang on a sec let me go look 2:39:29 here see if there's anything new to pay 2:39:33 attention 2:39:42 to 2:39:45 fascinating 2:39:52 all right um oh I was going to go look 2:39:56 at hang on let me go look at the Twitter 2:39:59 and see if there's anything 2:40:04 new let's 2:40:13 see Brian chesky I've spoken to Sam and 2:40:16 Greg and they will have a statement 2:40:20 [Laughter] 2:40:25 shortly would it be would be cool if 2:40:27 grock launched tonight um yeah Brian is 2:40:31 overloaded I got access to cre2 dreambot 2:40:34 11 Labs speech to speech in one day then 2:40:38 Sam oh brain is overloaded wait you got 2:40:41 access to Korea AI deorum bot 11 labs 11 2:40:46 Labs speech to speech in one day I I how 2:40:52 did you get all that retro punk are you 2:40:54 going to share with the rest of us 2:40:56 that's so 2:41:03 cool um an nft project that I joined 2:41:08 like two years ago is starting to pop 2:41:09 off 2:41:11 yay cuz it it went when I when we when I 2:41:14 joined it it went like this and like 2:41:17 well it sort of went like 2:41:19 this and it's been like for a year now 2:41:23 it's 2:41:25 like I can offer no details but their 2:41:28 Hardware failure rates are not good 2:41:30 round 2:41:34 tripping brain is overloaded yeah I want 2:41:36 to chat retr Punk I'd love to hear what 2:41:38 you got access to and what you think of 2:41:40 it 2:41:42 all all right um let's see let's see 2:41:44 what else we got going 2:41:46 here s this one's for 2:41:49 you Ethan mullik two 2:41:53 thoughts there's now a lot of GPT 4 2:41:55 class AI development in the pipeline 2:41:58 that started recently at least three to 2:42:00 four firms are known to be training 2:42:01 Frontier models even if AI development 2:42:05 was to stop was to stop which it isn't 2:42:08 we have a decade of absorbing the impact 2:42:10 of the current llms I totally agree with 2:42:14 that Brian chety I've spoken with Sam 2:42:17 and Greg they will have a statement 2:42:20 shortly sources say that seoa Koshi and 2:42:24 Thrive were not aware of the firing 2:42:27 prior to it occurring the major 2:42:29 investors Pate will Gemini be free 2:42:32 that's a good question for Pate 2:42:42 actually Sam Alman skyrocketed the value 2:42:45 of open AI from $0 to $80 billion and 2:42:48 he's still 2:42:51 out Microsoft loses 48 billion dollars 2:42:54 in market cap on the 2:42:56 news that's that's like losing two times 2:42:59 Delta Airlines or almost one 2:43:05 target oh my God this is just crazy 2:43:11 man [ __ ] days of AI for sure 2:43:17 what if grun launches tomorrow when 2:43:19 Starship launches premium plush doesn't 2:43:21 mean instant access to 2:43:39 Gro Google bard Ethan molet Google bard 2:43:42 keeps adding stuff this is good 2:43:44 Pate but but Microsoft market cap still 2:43:47 at 2.8 trillion yeah I 2:43:50 know here it's doing code interpreter 2:43:53 like graphs using data found on the 2:43:55 internet this is cool but still powered 2:43:56 by Palm 2 and the data appears to be 2:43:58 made up entirely citing French something 2:44:02 from 1834 waiting for Gemini question 2:44:05 mark Ethan 2:44:09 [Music] 2:44:14 mullik 2:44:17 I'll take Sam Alman joins xai for 2:44:22 $500 no I don't think he's going to xai 2:44:25 I that would be a big surprise to 2:44:36 me that's beautiful all 2:44:39 right all right well
