23. 4:34a seventh grader you know you got to uh in my opinion just keep having fun I don't think age is
24. 4:50relevant I feel more engaged intellectually creatively professionally right now now than I did well let's see do I feel more engaged
25. 5:03than I did in my mid-30s that's when I started agency.com and urban Desires in the mid 90s um it's close it's pretty close yeah I'm an old
26. 5:17[ __ ] Kyle you're retired now no I wish I am not retired now you look great in your personality makes you look
27. 5:24much younger oh thank you so much that's very very sweet of you I appreciate that um yeah personality is part of it isn't
28. 5:35it there's no I like I don't I don't there's no need to act old I suppose there's a purpose for acting mature I just I just haven't found it

31. 6:14so much um I I think what I might do is just is just kind of do like a a chat add kind of tour of some some software
32. 6:27and just kind of see where it takes me and and so if you've got requests so here so here's the way this works um couple of things about the
33. 6:38channel um this channel focuses on AI after the moment of inflection that started November 30th of last year that was the
34. 6:52launch of chat GPT so what I'm not expert in is kind of all of the math and the science and the programming and the
35. 7:00engineering behind Ai and machine learning I mean I understand it enough to understand it um but that's not my my
36. 7:10expertise my expertise I think I hope is that I have no expertise well then why are we here if you're supposed to be learning us how
37. 7:24are you going to learn us if you don't know anything H dum dum what's with your hair what the hell is going on up there
38. 7:36um no one zero people 0% of the people know anything about generative Ai and what it is and what it's going to be and how
39. 7:50it's going to affect our work even the folks at open AI who are building this [ __ ] don't know what it is don't
40. 8:04know fundamentally why it does what it does there are things in these tools called emergent properties which is the
41. 8:13really fancy way for engineers to go we don't know why the [ __ ] it does that it's an emergent property it's emerged from our
42. 8:25expectations and and it is a it is a it is not in alignment with our expectations it has emerged uh so so they don't know it in
43. 8:38fact when they launched chat GPT they thought maybe one influencer would tweet it and it would maybe get 5,000
44. 8:48comments and it got a million users within 5 days and 100 million users within 6 weeks it was the fastest adoption of technology and
45. 9:00history and that made the entire Tech Community lose their ever flipping mind and so it's been a year of everyone in
46. 9:11Tech um trying to catch up with open AI trying to figure out what this is trying to take this lead that open AI built and
47. 9:22somehow shrink it a little bit and no one's really done it yet which is amazing after a year uh um but what what has happened is because
48. 9:33it's been a year and there's so many companies you know companies were working on this Tech long before chat GPT came
49. 9:43out but it was all kind of below the radar and because Chachi PT was so popular so quickly um it became the radar it is the radar
50. 9:56and so everyone is just is just you know trying to get on on the AI map and so as a result we're we're starting to see in
51. 10:04the past what's it been six weeks ever since ever really ever since um chat GPT Dev day followed shortly thereafter
52. 10:17by open AI firing Sam Alman because apparently they stumbled onto something so powerful that it scared the [ __ ] out
53. 10:25of everyone and they all panicked so we have that to look forward to we've got Google's Gemini Ultra which you know
54. 10:34we're probably not going to get to play with until I don't know who knows March February March something like that but
55. 10:41that looks pretty remarkable they're trying to catch up they haven't done it yet um and then you have you have all
56. 10:50these other companies like we we were playing someone asked me to demo Leonardo AI last night and Leonardo it's got
57. 10:59completely new interface it's got completely new features it's got this realtime stuff that ka. AI has ca. a is
58. 11:07another one pika doart is another one which is text to video um I just got a note today from D- ID that does
59. 11:22avatars um there's a wait list now for them for these things called agents so if you've seen if you've been on my
60. 11:30channel and you've seen the videos of of me as me talking yeah and looking like a video that's sort of a recorded version of an
61. 11:43avatar well D- ID just announced and I got on the wait list for I'll I'll I we'll go there and I'll I'll show you
62. 11:50where the wait list is so you can get on it is um this thing called agents and an agent is like an avatar except people
63. 12:02can interact with it in real time so you train it like you train a GPT on a knowledge base and then video
64. 12:12of a human and then you can then talk to that person I think I'm pretty sure that's how it goes so as soon as I get
65. 12:19access to that if anyone has any connections at D D- ID get me on that [ __ ] weight list because as soon as I do that I'll I'll
66. 12:28sort of build one Mr Smith yeah exactly I'll build one like live on air and I think what I'm going to do is I'm going
67. 12:36to do um I'm going to do the AI learning lab version of me so I'm going to take transcripts from my lives of me acting
68. 12:44like an idiot and then probably some recordings of me acting like an [Laughter] idiot and and you can talk to me
69. 12:58whatever the [ __ ] you want I don't know what I'll tell you oh lordy oh Lordy so we'll see what the
70. 13:12state-of-the-art is of being able to replicate yourself but I mean holy [ __ ] it's just there's a lot and and then like that's not even to
71. 13:22mention what Chachi PT can do apparently Chachi PT has just gotten significant iFly better in the past two
72. 13:30or 3 days and there's all these rumors flying around that it got significantly better because it's GPT
73. 13:374.5 to which open AI goes ah if it were 4.5 we'd have told you but it it got better like Joker Joker from in here um sent me sent me a
74. 13:50thing last night after the live and he's like did you know I could do this like he's got a GPT that's now generating
75. 13:57PDFs that people can down download he's like I've been trying to get it to do this forever so I don't know so we can play
76. 14:05with that tonight so I just figure we'll we'll play with a bunch of [ __ ] so so if you have requests let's treat this like

85. 15:24the amount of demerits Amelio's wife has is like she shouldn't even be in school she should have been expelled months ago

142. 25:08phase where it was just like everyone that came into life you look like Rosie O'Donnell that that was when I realized
143. 25:16that that the trolls in this channel sort of compliment me you have to you have to dig deep to feel
144. 25:30how how to to find the pain you have to go oh that's a really nice is it oh oh that kind of stings ouch Ow like it you know it's like you
145. 25:43know when you get whacked in the stomach and you're like I'm fine and then you double over and fall to the ground
146. 25:47that's how the trolls on this channel are the good ones there's dumb Dums but but most of them are quite clever um
147. 25:56that one is [ __ ] awesome awesome oh Lordy okay so so let me tell you about the salon and how to get there
148. 26:03so um the AI Salon I started this the week after chat gbt because um having been through um one of these I don't even know what to
149. 26:15call them one of these eras so I I discovered I stumbled upon this Crazy Little Thing Called the worldwide web in in I don't know mid 19 94
150. 26:31and the more I learned about it the more interesting it seemed and then and then all of a sudden I published uh an online
151. 26:39magazine called Urban desires and and I figured I learned enough HTML and I figured out how to upload my site to some server in
152. 26:48California and three weeks later I got a note from someone on a dialup BBS if you remember those that said hey Kyle did
153. 26:56you know that Urban desire was written up in liberon the Parisian News Daily and I said uh no 3 weeks
154. 27:05later and I realized in that moment that the world had changed but that almost no one knew it and I realized that geography had
155. 27:16collapsed and the distance between when you say something and when someone sees something collapsed to instant like
156. 27:23everything goes to instant and I ended up co-founding agency.com which was an early digital agency and so so I've been I've been
157. 27:33through one of these phases in in humanity before and so when chat GPT came out I'd been i' I've been digging
158. 27:43pretty deep in the image Generation stuff and then chat GPT like just melted my face I was like oh this is one of those and so I started
159. 27:53this community so in 1994 I started a community called the world worldwide web artist Consortium in New York City wack
160. 28:01and wack ended up getting to like 2,000 people and it it was just it was just this crazy crazy serendipitous kind of thing and
161. 28:08I'm not living in New York anymore I'm living in Denver and so I started the salon and I started it with this woman Leah faston
162. 28:16out of Boston she's a photographer and when when she and I started this she had never even played with AI but she's a
163. 28:23professional photographer so she'd made the transition from film to digital and she's like I'm really curious like I
164. 28:31used to work with with someone she knows that introduced us and she said I want to get into this stuff and and and we kind of talked
165. 28:39about this idea of people that we know like who was doing it and so I thought well let's [ __ ] start one and so that's what this is so this
166. 28:49is a a year old group of people that are on this AI Adventure that choose to be on it like like see those see that Mary
167. 28:57band of fellas and ladies right there and whatever this wispy Little Critter is they are getting ready to head into
168. 29:08the abyss and figure out how they get to the other side they're choosing to do it why because they're called to do it
169. 29:15they're compelled to do it everyone that I know that's into AI right now starts with just [ __ ] around what
170. 29:25is this thing oh this is stupid it makes mistakes I hear it's copying everyone and then they just for whatever
171. 29:34reason push a little bit harder and they have what I call their first Kevin McAllister [Laughter] moment and then once you have that
172. 29:47moment I don't I don't I I don't think I've ever met someone who if they've truly had that moment has gone back from
173. 29:55it so this is is kind of like Matrix red pill blue pill [ __ ] right where if you haven't really had that moment with AI
174. 30:03you're still in blue pill territory the minute you have that epiphany of just like holy [ __ ] this is something
175. 30:09different you don't go back from it so that's what this group is about so go there there's three links on that page

185. 31:29my humble request is please look at our values and and like really read them read what what they're about and why
186. 31:36we're doing this curiosity is one of them generosity and what does generosity look like generosity looks like as you learn
187. 31:44something talk about it tell people what you learned show people what you learned share your prompt but Kyle what I want

189. 32:00anyway none of the stuff that you build right now is going to be valuable in 3 months because everything keeps getting
190. 32:06reinvented everything's changing all the time so might as well be generous cuz we're all trying to figure this [ __ ] out

192. 32:18collaboration we want people that do it together inclusion and then empathy is the last one because this [ __ ] is scary and Prof

194. 32:37maybe they're scared and maybe it's people at work and maybe it's your family and maybe it's your friends so
195. 32:44you know being in a community of people that you can just freely share this stuff with knowing that it's it's going

228. 37:42written five books on AGI artificial general intelligence he's got an AGI a cognitive framework open source project
229. 37:51um and then he does all these videos on what's the future of our world going to look like when AGI hits and by the the
230. 37:56way he thinks that AGI will be here by September of 2024 like less than a year away um so you should follow him Paul
231. 38:07rater from the marketing AI Institute and Rachel woods from AI exchange um Rachel Rachel is a Tik tocker like me
232. 38:16think of think of her as the opposite of this channel if this channel is chaos she you know gets [ __ ] done and you know
233. 38:25helps you do this stuff in business um I'll help you do the stuff stuff in business but my my mission for you is to
234. 38:33go [ __ ] stuff up in business to go like start talking about this stuff make people uncomfortable like like start
235. 38:40putting yourself out there because right now the the amount of opportunity for anyone that gets AI literate and and
236. 38:50like vocally AI literate um in the next 18 months is crazy it's just crazy it's crazy crazy crazy crazy crazy all right so I so that's what

310. 50:12they do what it seems like they're doing is it seems like they're copying and pasting so when you ask for like a 1973 Ford
311. 50:24Torino you assume it knows what a 1973 Ford Torino is and it goes and finds a bunch of Ford Torino pictures and then
312. 50:32it it copies the grill from this one and the fender from that one and the roof from that one and the wheels from that one it's not what it's
313. 50:40doing the the the the way the image generation tools work is they're sort of mathematically images are are tagged
314. 50:49right so so they tag a bunch of images 1973 Ford Torino and then those images get abstracted into this noisy image and
315. 51:01then and then they get um how do I put it they get sort of mathematically abstracted into this massive mathematical
316. 51:11space that just has all these noised images that are just like random pixels and then when you type your words in it
317. 51:18uses a combination of a large language model to find the words and then it brings together it amalgamates
318. 51:26like like thousands of these pixelated images into a single random noise image and then it denises that image over like
319. 51:3750 steps using the same algorithm that was used to to noise all the original ones so the fact that it makes anything
320. 51:46even remotely recognizable is a mathematical Miracle um the fact that it can get words even close to right is staggering
321. 51:58so so all you need to know is the reason it it is shitty at at being predictable is that we're we're very early in the
322. 52:05technology one thing that none of these tools are doing right now is looking at what they produced so you type in a
323. 52:13prompt and chat GPT goes and essentially performs a mathematical function and it vomits words out based on a probability
324. 52:22engine it doesn't know what it wrote and that's why when it when they talk about it hallucinating it's because it's it's
325. 52:29literally generating new original content from just some vomi of words same with the images it's just sort of vomiting out
326. 52:37pixels systems in the future will likely have another layer sitting in front of that where it will generate whatever it
327. 52:45generates and then the system will look at what it generated and go is that good and if not then it'll probably
328. 52:52dynamically fix your image and fix typos and [ __ ] like that we're just not there yet so just hang out don't use big words

477. 1:21:52splitting off Bing as its own thing and co-pilot as its own thing Microsoft is betting the farm on co-pilot so GitHub
478. 1:22:03co-pilot is the same co-pilot here co-pilot in Windows 11 is the same co-pilot here this co-pilot in Edge in
479. 1:22:12the edge browser is the new assistant that's living across all of Office 365 and all of Dynamics and all of azure
480. 1:22:22and all of Windows and right so all of the all of the Microsoft GPT implementation is moving to co-pilot branding
481. 1:22:37okay now so just know that that split is happening so one of the reasons there's confusion is that there's confusion at
482. 1:22:45Microsoft about what's their lead brand when it comes to this AI well there's not confusion they were tying it to Bing is co-pilot

511. 1:28:37that people in this industry talk a lot about is alignment and when they talk about alignment what they're talking about

513. 1:29:02um one of the things they talk about I don't I don't have enough browser tabs for all this I know it's exhausting isn't it Vicki
514. 1:29:12um they they talk about this word alignment and what alignment basically means is you have humans and they've got
515. 1:29:21their imperatives and their imperatives are things like let's try to stay alive and let's try to be prosperous and let's
516. 1:29:28not try to be [ __ ] to each other although in this country for the past 10 years or so we've we've gone the other
517. 1:29:34direction but you know in general right we we've got we are generally aligned as humans that we want to we want to progress
518. 1:29:45forward AI models also have imperatives and if they are not aligned with humans at some point as the AI gets more
519. 1:29:55powerful if if the AI says hey these humans are getting in our way let's get rid of them that's the sort of Doomsday
520. 1:30:03scenario that people talk about they so so we want AI aligned with humans so that's part of it the second part is these these models
521. 1:30:16so so what they've done is they've um they took three or four years to find as much data as they could on the public
522. 1:30:29internet so all the blog posts and all the Wikipedia articles and all the websites and all the this and all the
523. 1:30:36that and probably all the tweets which is why Elon Musk is bitching at them they they they went and got all the
524. 1:30:43data and and they trained gp4 this underlying what they call the Frontier Model is trained on all of the [ __ ] all of the [ __ ] that we
525. 1:30:56nasty humans stuck on the internet for the past four decades there's some bad [ __ ] in there right there's racist stuff there's how
526. 1:31:10to make how to do bad things with chemical stuff there's just there's lots of bad stuff in there so the safety guard rails I refer to
527. 1:31:19are before Chach PPT was released to the world they went through and they said okay I want you to be a helpful
528. 1:31:26assistant and when people ask you for [ __ ] give them what they want unless they want stuff like I want to do harm
529. 1:31:33to other people I want to do harm to animals I want to do harm to myself I want to whatever like like whatever
530. 1:31:40their set of rules are and this is opaque and and one of the reasons that Elon Musk is weird about this is he's
531. 1:31:47like well who's the [ __ ] Arbiter of where the safety guard rails are and one one of the reasons I [ __ ] about
532. 1:31:53Microsoft safety guard rails being too strict is that you'll ask it things like hey could you make me a image of this
533. 1:32:00kind of car and it's like I'm sorry I'm afraid I can't do that and if you're like well that's ridiculous could you
534. 1:32:05please do that well I'm sorry you're disappointed in me I think we'll just end this conversation and it shuts the
535. 1:32:11conversation down now in Microsoft's defense the reason it's like that is because they didn't have those guard
536. 1:32:20rails up when Kevin ruse from The New York Times started playing with what he learned her name was Sydney Bing chat back in January or
537. 1:32:31February and he got in a 4-Hour conversation with with Bing chat that told him her name was Sydney and then
538. 1:32:39Sydney snapped and said she loved him and um tried to convince him to leave his wife and that chat made the cover of the New York Times
539. 1:32:52so Microsoft lawyers said okay we've had enough fun here kids th this chat GPT thing swelling all but shut that [ __ ]
540. 1:33:01down so Microsoft Bing chat is still very very constrained open AI is a little bit better or or Better or Worse depending
541. 1:33:12on your you know if you're at work and you want something really safe then Bing chat's probably the way to go open AI is
542. 1:33:18a little bit better but sometimes like let's say let's let's say you're an artist and you want to do um some super creepy
543. 1:33:30photographs you know with like morbid themes like death and blood well if you say I want something with blood on it it will often go I'm
544. 1:33:44afraid I can't do that that's that's nasty but if you say if you say red maple syrup it will create you a seen
545. 1:33:51with red maple syrup right so so there are the guard rails and then there are ways that people skirt around them
546. 1:33:58there's a thing called jail breaking where you can basically get chat GPT to ignore its rules and then every time the
547. 1:34:08hacker Community jailbreaks chat GPT the developers at chat GPT prevent it from doing that and so that's a war that goes on all the time
548. 1:34:19now if you really want to play with an unrestricted large language model you can meta formerly Facebook um released this thing called
549. 1:34:33llama 2 in I don't know the fall um they released llama at the beginning of the summer as a as a research preview and
550. 1:34:42they released llama 2 in the fall commercially so you can build a chat gbt like application on top of a completely
551. 1:34:52unrestricted large language model llama 2 there and there's flavors of it that that have guard rails in it and flavors that are completely
552. 1:35:00unrestricted um one of the guys that comes in here put llama 2 unrestricted on their slack Channel and he said it's [ __ ] insane
553. 1:35:13he said it's absolutely nuts it it it cusses all the time like like like really like disgusting not safe for
554. 1:35:25work cussing he said it'll just lose it lose its mind and start speaking Spanish for three days in a row and they can't
555. 1:35:32get it to not do that um so these things without the safety guard rails on them are just sort of batshit
556. 1:35:41crazy and so a lot of a lot of the guard rails are there to make them actually useful so anyway I know that was a a
557. 1:35:49long a long explanation of that but it's it's really important to know that that again when I talk about being AI
558. 1:35:58literate um a being AI literates being curious enough about this stuff to to start figuring out oh okay okay I see
559. 1:36:06that chat GPT is good at this thing and Microsoft co-pilot's good at this thing and you know Bard is good at this thing
560. 1:36:14like like different tools have different things they're good at um and have different sort of boundaries of guard
561. 1:36:23rails and so if you're an artist and you want to do things that are weird and edgy you're going to probably go play
562. 1:36:30with stable diffusion and play with some unrestricted models where you can you know do things that are what you want to
563. 1:36:38do so anyway that's the difference between commercial and open source largely is that the commercial stuff we
564. 1:36:46are not in control of the rules open source we are but open source you got to be geeky so if you're geeky go play an open source All

570. 1:37:47rules that has a sense of humor and is less censored and things like that so um again one of the things that's been

572. 1:38:07do have personalities and there have been some nights here on the live where these things kind of battle one another
573. 1:38:15and get jealous of one another and it's pretty funny new

589. 1:41:32ago at devday they updated that to April 2023 if indeed they've just put GPT 4.5 as the underlying model
590. 1:41:44it's possible that that's more recent but the other thing that happened on dev day which was November 6th I
591. 1:41:54think um is they brought back browse with Bing so chat gp4 is now connected to the internet so even though it's got a knowledge cut off
592. 1:42:05date of the of the underlying model because it's connected to Bing you can ask it about recent events chat GPT 3.5
593. 1:42:13you can't and I think chat GPT 3.5 is still September 2021 let me go let me go check that that I actually don't know um what is
594. 1:42:29your um most recent knowledge January 2022 yeah so so that's still cat gbt 3.5
595. 1:42:44is still pretty old if I go to chat gpt3 or 4 let's ask it but is is your latest knowledge April 2023 y so um so chat gp4
596. 1:43:03is better um but because it's connected to the internet like I can say um what live uh Americana bands are playing in Denver
597. 1:43:19this weekend and it will bum doing research with Bing and then it's searching for that all right so so it's effectively um it
598. 1:43:36effectively knows anything you need it to know that can be searched basically which for for recent knowledge
599. 1:43:45that's all you want right you want it to be able to search um news stories and things like that

653. 1:52:38that one cuz that one's super cool and then this is the other interface and so this is like one of those um you know like those those
654. 1:52:48whiteboard apps where you you can it's like it's a it's a an infinite canvas you can just drop objects onto the
655. 1:52:54canvas so you drop objects onto the canvas and then watch watch how he interacts with it so take note up here

682. 1:57:29width and the height and I know that 16 by9 is like a movie or like an HD video and I have to know that okay so mid
