Description

In this AI Learning Lab livestream from October 3rd, 2023, Kyle Shannon provides an insider's look at the state of AI and generative tools. He showcases exciting new capabilities in ChatGPT, gives his perspective on whether we're at the beginning or end of the AI revolution, and shares thoughts on how individuals and organizations should respond. With humor and passion, he makes the case that we're closer to the beginning than the end, and suggests how to take advantage of emerging opportunities. 3:49 some folks got some stuff all right
3:52 let's uh let me let me get started here
3:54 wait hang on hang on hang on people it's
3:57 everything's moving too fast
3:59 everything's moving too fast fast we got
4:01 to we're here here here we are the it's
4:04 moving too fast cuz the turtle's on a
4:06 skateboard apparently we just hit a
4:09 hill so the turtle is speeding
4:12 up my name is Kyle Shannon this is the
4:14 AI learning lab I'm a librarian good to
4:17 see you I haven't seen you in a while
4:18 thank you for the rose I appreciate that
4:20 this is the AI learning lab we talk
4:22 about AI stuff in here um we are
4:26 entering a phase of lots of new toys to
4:29 play with and and I've gotten two of
4:31 them now um one one we had before but
4:35 it's it's weird oh thank you for the
4:36 heart
4:38 um a lot of people on on on Twitter on X
4:43 were like oh chat PT got access to the
4:46 internet they've never had that before
4:48 no they had that for [ __ ] six months
4:51 and then you know they made a boo
4:56 boo so um where to to begin tonight
5:01 where to
5:04 begin all right you know what I think
5:07 it's important to start at the beginning
5:09 that's generally where you begin
5:12 right so welcome here if you're new here
5:15 um we do things a little differently in
5:18 AI learning lab well I don't know there
5:20 might be someone that does it just like
5:22 this uh but how we do it here is ask me
5:26 any questions you want I'll do my best
5:28 to answer them if you're just getting
5:30 started with generative AI if you've not
5:32 played with chat GPT
5:34 ever and you're annoyed people are like
5:37 you got try ai ai is the best you're
5:40 going to love AI I know we're annoying
5:43 I'm one of them and that's exactly how I
5:46 say it hey how's it going my name's Kyle
5:48 have you tried AI it's the best you
5:50 haven't tried it you should really try
5:52 it so if you're in here you should try
5:55 it go there just go to the top one
5:58 that's the official chat GPT
6:00 website um I'm going to show some really
6:04 exciting stuff they added some new stuff
6:06 in here well they' they've been adding
6:08 new stuff over the past week um I got
6:10 two of the three things I've been
6:12 waiting
6:13 for and uh boy is it slick the uh the
6:17 dolly thing in particular is really
6:19 slick then you got Bard and Claude and
6:21 Bing these are kind of the top four this
6:22 is what we like to call the adults table
6:24 here so take a screenshot grab that and
6:27 that little thing prompt. chat that
6:29 thing down below if you're just getting
6:31 started with this and you're like I
6:32 don't know what these things are it kind
6:34 of looks like Google is it Google do you
6:36 just stick in words and it gives you a
6:38 website sort of but
6:40 no it's deeply more profound than Google
6:44 um but it's as simple as Google it's
6:46 just a text box and then uh what you can
6:49 do with it is quite remarkable so that
6:50 prompt. chat will teach you how to do
6:53 that this is the kids table so still
6:57 important things to play with um Pi that
7:01 one is what we call chatty GPT if you
7:04 get the IOS app of Pi Pi search for pi
7:08 personal assistant and put that App into
7:11 conversation mode there's a little phone
7:13 icon you click the little green phone
7:15 icon and you can talk to it and it talks
7:18 back to you and it's
7:19 remarkable um and it's not perfect but
7:23 it's connected to the internet it's very
7:25 conversational it's very very
7:26 interesting um perplexity a is
7:29 interesting labs. perplexity gives you
7:31 access to meta's llama 2 models um PO is
7:35 really interesting it's uh you can play
7:38 with multiple different models there you
7:39 can make Bots there all that sort of
7:41 stuff
7:43 um all right so that's that now um
7:48 pitches there's pitches Dolly 3 you can
7:53 play with that inside bing
7:56 bing uh.com if you go to bing.com sreat
7:59 or just bing.com and just ask it to make
8:01 an image it'll do it that's
8:03 dolly3 I now have it inside chat GPT and
8:07 it is amazing it is a completely
8:09 different experience I suppose you could
8:11 probably do this within Bing but the
8:14 distance between Bing's version of chat
8:17 GPT and um open ai's version of chat GPT
8:21 is staggering it's it's just amazing
8:23 I'll show it to you in a second then you
8:25 got mid Journey that's really good but
8:26 it's a pain in the ass you got to go to
8:28 Discord it's very confusing if you don't
8:30 know Discord ideogram is simple and can
8:33 do text but once you see Dolly 3 I think
8:35 you're going to forget quickly about
8:37 ideam and then Adobe their Firefly and
8:41 Photoshop generative fill tools are good
8:43 they're live you can use them for
8:45 commercial I've been playing with Dolly
8:47 3 today are you able to create an image
8:49 to size 16 by9 yeah in fact in fact yes
8:54 and you can do 9 by6 and you can do it's
8:57 it's amazing we'll play with it here in
8:58 a second I know and you're like Kyle why
9:00 haven't you started yet cuz you know I'm
9:02 trying to serve the people here people
9:05 calm down calm down you learning labbers
9:09 the the people that show up here
9:10 regularly we call them the Irregulars
9:12 well they name themselves the Irregulars
9:14 and I adopted it cuz I think it's
9:15 [ __ ]
9:16 [Laughter]
9:19 hilarious I'm so irregular have you
9:22 tried the prone
9:27 Joe all right so that's that if you want
9:32 [ __ ] to move there you go Runway
9:36 ml um if you want yourself to talk in a
9:39 different language hey Jen's video
9:41 translate is truly remarkable um if you
9:44 want to make 3D worlds by just invoking
9:47 them Skybox blad labs.com and then if
9:51 you want to make one of your Little
9:53 Creations from mid Journey talk studio.
9:58 d-comp shot that stuff go play with
10:00 those and then the final list of
10:02 resources here um futur pedia and
10:07 there's an AI for
10:10 that.com are both um just tool
10:13 directories right ai ai apps
10:17 um there are thousands of them most of
10:20 them are horrible so just know that most
10:23 of this AI stuff right now is really bad
10:26 those three guys Ethan mullik David
10:28 Shapiro and Paul I should probably put
10:30 Rachel Woods on on here she's a a tick
10:33 tocker that's got the AI exchange um but
10:36 these guys are consistently putting out
10:38 really really amazing stuff Ethan mullik
10:40 is a Wharton business school Professor
10:43 his blog is one useful thing he just did
10:45 a big uh wrap up of what the hell's
10:48 going on with AI over the past year
10:50 David Shapiro is creating AGI as an open
10:53 source project and is one of the most
10:55 brilliant dudes I've ever seen and then
10:58 Paul rer from the marketing a AI
11:01 Institute is just down to earth and
11:03 really smart
11:05 about this shit's coming you'd better
11:09 start dealing with it he's just really
11:10 good at it he's got a weekly podcast all
11:12 right then one final thing tomorrow
11:15 tomorrow and tomorrow and
11:17 tomorrow I kick off um a workshop that I
11:21 designed um another Creator named Rhonda
11:24 Phillips has uh a community of creatives
11:29 she's a voiceover AR artist and a uh a
11:33 creative coach and so we created the AI
11:35 Launchpad for creatives and it starts
11:39 tomorrow October 4th that's
11:41 Wednesday and from 5: to 7 um mountain
11:46 time and it's at Ronda voice.com events
11:49 um you can still get in there's still
11:51 some slots there so if you want to dive
11:53 deep on this get hands on um session one
11:57 is this Wednesday tomorrow and it's just
12:00 basic uh General overview session two is
12:04 applying AI to your business and session
12:06 three is Advanced crap so uh let's see I
12:10 am not creative but I am a creative want
12:13 to be would this be helpful it'll
12:14 absolutely be helpful it'll absolutely
12:17 be helpful it's here's the thing about
12:19 creative there there's there's a one of
12:22 the things that these tools are going to
12:25 allow us all to do is wherever you feel
12:29 like you're weak You Can level up on
12:32 [ __ ] in
12:34 fact let me give you a sneak
12:45 [Music]
12:47 peek is this
12:51 it hold
12:58 please
13:00 [Music]
13:07 where did I put
13:15 that ah
13:18 yes sorry um welcome the other nickname
13:21 for this channel is Chad add
13:23 so so welcome so see these are some of
13:26 the expectations that I'm going to talk
13:27 about in the workshop tomorrow this is
13:28 from one of the slides
13:29 but but look at look at the the last
13:32 bullet point on what expectation setting
13:35 with this AI stuff these excuses no
13:39 longer apply in the world I don't know
13:41 enough I'm not good enough and I'm too
13:44 old to learn something
13:46 new flush that [ __ ] down the
13:50 toilet flush it down the toilet and hair
13:52 growth GE you in particular I mean
13:54 you're on here you're you're good uh
13:56 yeah you'll probably enjoy it I think I
13:58 think it could be good so feel free to
14:00 check it out
14:02 um these tools are
14:04 remarkable um up levelers leveler uppers
14:09 um so where you think you might be weak
14:11 at something you're going to be able to
14:12 get really good at it so anyway that's
14:14 something that'll be a little Soap Box I
14:16 talk about
14:18 tomorrow um um uh um let's see where
14:22 where where are we what's going on here
14:24 so anyway that's that that's the that's
14:26 the AI launch pad so that launches
14:28 tomorrow I'm really excited about that
14:29 so check that out rhos voice.com events
14:32 and then the final thing um if you're
14:34 looking for a community if here here's
14:36 the deal if you're like if if you're
14:39 what Ethan mullik calls a secret cyborg
14:42 like you're you're secretly becoming AI
14:44 literate but you don't want anyone to
14:45 know about it because they think you're
14:47 a [ __ ] weirdo and they're like I hate
14:48 Ai and you're secretly like this is the
14:51 coolest [ __ ] I've ever seen if you want
14:54 if you want a community of fellow
14:56 weirdos uh that's the salon. so it's
14:59 called the AI Salon it's a community I
15:01 started last December um we have a a
15:04 Discord Community where we can hang out
15:06 and chat in between sessions we kind of
15:08 hang out there uh when I'm doing these
15:10 things uh will there be replays the
15:13 family is threatening to disown me if I
15:15 don't go to a birthday dinner yeah if if
15:18 you if you uh pay for it there'll be
15:21 recordings they they're going to be
15:22 available for two or 3 months and then I
15:25 think we'll probably do a thing where
15:27 we'll make access to them if if you
15:30 didn't attend at all available at some
15:32 point so um Rhonda's in charge of all
15:34 that um so I don't know exactly what the
15:37 rules are there but yeah I think
15:39 so
15:41 um what else oh the salon so we also
15:43 have bi-weekly Meetup so so this is a
15:46 link tree that's got a description of uh
15:49 the
15:50 salon and uh what our values are and I'm
15:53 actually going to demo tonight something
15:56 that I did last night that blew my
15:58 [ __ ] mind
15:59 mind um with the values of the salon
16:03 actually um so that's pretty cool so go
16:06 ahead and do that story vine.com that's
16:07 my business I'm the founder and CEO of
16:09 that and what else oh just uh I've got a
16:14 scammer although th this person hasn't
16:16 been all that active that I know of um
16:19 but if you follow this channel make sure
16:22 you're not following a version of the
16:24 channel that's AI LL learning lab and
16:26 you're like but Kyle these are your vide
16:29 videos I know he stole my videos he
16:31 stole my name he he's he's a jerk he's
16:34 trying to get people to buy his stupid
16:35 ass crypto Ponzi scheme [ __ ] so um
16:38 just check who you're following and you
16:40 can report him and it doesn't matter Tik
16:42 Tok doesn't seem to give a [ __ ] about it
16:45 um okay so that's that all right you
16:48 guys ready you ready for some fun you
16:50 ready for some fun fun okay look at this
16:54 we got look look it's
16:57 Chip but Kyle we've seen chat jpt before
17:01 what are you talking about Kyle I have
17:04 one question for you can you make money
17:07 with ch you can make money with ch oh we
17:12 had our AI Salon entrepreneur Guild
17:15 meeting tonight oh cool cuno awesome I
17:18 heard uh I heard Bradley Bradley LED
17:20 that right I think he did how'd it go
17:22 was it good that's awesome yeah the AI
17:25 Salon the the uh the thing that I just
17:27 showed you before
17:30 not that that thing we just added guilds
17:34 oh nice cool terrific thank you for the
17:37 Roses that's awesome uh yeah we just
17:40 added guilds so we've got an
17:41 entrepreneur Guild a an AI for business
17:44 Guild an Art Guild a writing Guild not
17:48 the writer's Guild that's different they
17:51 they uh they got their contract good for
17:53 them they got good stuff in it and then
17:56 there's a an AI 101 Guild so if you're
17:58 just getting started there's there's
17:59 that Guild so pretty exciting stuff all
18:03 right let's go play
18:06 so if you're brand new here I'll tease
18:09 the people that know what's coming so if
18:13 you've not played with chat GPT before
18:15 let me give you a little lay of the land
18:17 this is chat GPT the the list down here
18:20 is my prompting history or my chat
18:23 history the um this is the interface you
18:28 just have this box here these are just
18:29 suggestions of stuff you can say and
18:31 there's two models there's GPT
18:34 3.5 hang on and there's GPT 4 GPT 4 you
18:38 don't have access to unless you pay for
18:41 chat GPT plus and then uh and then you
18:45 get access to it you get access to a
18:47 whole lot of other stuff oh thank you
18:48 very much for the cute little dog butt
18:51 dog butts is cute I like dog butt I like
18:54 dog
18:57 butt
19:00 so if you've
19:02 got um
19:06 gp4 and you want to know where all the
19:09 goodies are the extra special stuff you
19:12 go to um settings and
19:15 beta and you go to Beta features and
19:18 then you turn them on and look I got a
19:20 new one browse with Bing is back so
19:24 browse with Bing is back plugins and
19:27 Advanced Data analysis
19:29 what I don't have right now
19:32 is
19:34 what your live is being flagged for
19:41 harassment was it cuz I said I like dog
19:44 butt who was I
19:48 harassing all right
19:50 whatever um spam no it came up as a
19:53 dialogue box I mean if someone can
19:56 figure out how to dialogue box Tik Tok
19:59 in a spammy kind of way whatever so I
20:02 might not be showing anything tonight
20:04 cuz uh apparently I'm harassing
20:09 people did I say
20:11 anything AI reported you
20:14 apparently I said a bunch of bad stuff
20:17 about Sam Alman last night they did it
20:19 in my life too that's weird what okay
20:23 good probably the hacker not liking your
20:26 opinion oh it could have been that
20:27 actually what did I say I said they were
20:29 an [ __ ] or something like that sounds
20:32 like it damn Bots I know the Bots the
20:34 Bots right
20:35 anyway browse with Bing is back and look
20:38 at this so last night retr punk after I
20:42 went I I shut this down at like when
20:45 10:30 or something like that4 of
20:49 11 when I went and did something and
20:51 then I got I went I went on a Discord
20:53 and retr punk said don't go to bed yet
20:56 and he found he got a uh a form from the
21:01 open AI
21:03 Discord from one of the developers at
21:06 open AI that said he wants to he wants
21:10 people to test
21:12 dolly3 um and so filled out the form and
21:15 look at
21:17 this look at how exciting this all is
21:21 okay let's see how do we get rid of that
21:24 what is
21:25 that I got weird uh what what you call
21:29 it Reflections so we got regular chat
21:32 GPT 44 we've got browse with Bing we've
21:35 got Advanced Data analysis formally code
21:38 interpreter we've got plugins and we've
21:40 got Dolly 3 Dolly 3 oh I know Kyle you
21:45 may never sleep again exactly I'm going
21:47 to bed good night regulars okay after
21:49 Dolly 3 okay exactly all right so I'll
21:52 do for you I'll do Dolly 3
21:55 first so you flip into Dolly 3 mode so
21:57 now we're in Dolly 3 tree mode now check
21:59 this out oh it's good it's good to go
22:02 now uh it it is I don't think do I have
22:05 a backup account just in case you get
22:07 blocked I do not have a backup account
22:09 so I've been blocked before I got
22:11 blocked for S days like three three
22:15 times in a row when I first started
22:16 doing these
22:19 lives and I've sort of figured out what
22:21 the trigger words are but I don't I
22:22 don't think I said anything tonight so
22:24 anyway lucky I know I am the
22:29 food
22:30 um okay so here's what I did last night
22:33 I'm just going to do exactly what I did
22:34 last night cuz this this was the first
22:36 thing I did and it's it's just
22:37 mind-blowing so I'm going to hop over to
22:40 LinkedIn and I'm going to go to my AI
22:43 Salon page so I just talked about the AI
22:45 salon and the pinned post on our account
22:49 is what is the AI
22:51 salon so here's the AI Salon the AI
22:56 Salon is a community oh I remember this
22:58 is a pain in the ass you know what I'm
22:59 going to do so so the the way they the
23:02 way they do their articles you actually
23:05 can't um select the whole article it it
23:08 stops at certain points oh wait now I
23:10 can that's weird I couldn't do this last
23:12 night okay whatever um okay so I'm going
23:15 to copy this so this so This basically
23:17 talks about what the salon's all
23:20 about and then it talks about our values
23:23 curiosity generosity exploration
23:26 collaboration inclusion and empathy okay
23:29 and we we talk about why it's important
23:31 what we think about AI okay cool
23:35 awesome so go back to chat JP you can
23:39 make money with ch
23:42 J and I'm gonna I'm GNA say Okay um
23:47 based
23:49 on this
23:52 description of my
23:57 community and our
24:04 values I'm going to hit shift return to
24:06 make a line break and then I'm going to
24:08 paste that bad boy in
24:10 there I'm going to
24:12 say
24:14 um how am I going to do
24:23 this I would like
24:25 to find a way to VIs visualize the
24:29 values period I'm wondering if you can
24:32 help me do that and if you might
24:36 suggest some styles
24:41 that we can use to bring those images to
24:47 life so the first thing I'm doing
24:50 hopefully this will just answer that
24:52 question and not actually start drawing
24:54 something certainly visualizing the
24:55 values of the AI Salon could be powerful
24:59 to resonate with the community and
25:01 convey the core principles here are my
25:03 suggestions for each value curiosity
25:05 image description a photo of diverse
25:07 individuals peering through oversized
25:10 magnifying glass generosity illustration
25:13 of hands of different colors passing
25:15 forward glowing digital orbs so so it's
25:18 it's putting together some some
25:21 prompting some
25:27 descriptions
25:29 all right let's see would you like me to
25:32 create visual
25:34 representations based on these
25:39 descriptions so I'm just going to say
25:43 yes I said Tess
25:50 yes pops open the thing Dolly 3 and what
25:54 it's doing right now is it's writing
25:57 different
25:59 prompts so it's writing the
26:02 prompts are you going to share that form
26:05 I don't I don't know that I can cuz I
26:07 didn't I didn't get it directly from
26:09 Discord I don't know what the
26:12 agreements were for it so if retr Punk's
26:16 in here and I don't see him
26:18 online yeah no he's traveling to Japan
26:21 or something like that so anyway um but
26:26 join the look
26:29 so so wait what was the first one oh the
26:33 first one was for the
26:37 salon wait what oh oh I see I see what
26:40 it did wait here okay now it it did four
26:43 of them it did the first four so
26:45 curiosity gener generosity exploration
26:48 and
26:49 collaboration um so I'm going to say
26:54 um while these are
26:57 okay
26:58 I don't really find the illustration
27:00 style all that exciting period can you
27:03 give me four variations for
27:06 curiosity that are of different Artistic
27:09 Styles so we can hone in on one that we
27:12 like
27:14 period so so what I'm doing right now is
27:19 is the big difference for me oh hey my
27:21 meeting this morning about AI went well
27:23 enough that the dude asked his
27:27 boss to call me tomorrow yes lunar stick
27:32 okay so winter winner chicken dinner so
27:35 so lunatick has is one of the Irregulars
27:38 she comes in here all the time and she's
27:41 been being talking about Ai and it's one
27:44 of the things I recommend is just start
27:46 playing with AI start talking about it
27:48 because at some point someone's going to
27:50 go you know I want to learn about AI
27:53 could you help me learn about Ai and
27:54 they're going to walk you into some
27:55 [ __ ] meeting they're going to have a
27:56 meeting and she had one of those today
27:58 and it went well and now she's going to
28:01 be talking to the to the boss man how
28:04 cool is
28:06 that uh let's see Clint is all of our AI
28:10 Turtle Army here Kyle uh we got a lot of
28:12 them we got a lot of them all right
28:14 let's go look at these images all right
28:16 we got that one that one's pretty good
28:18 that one's pretty good for
28:20 curiosity oh that was cool a little AI
28:23 in the middle that's very
28:26 disturbing look at the creepy skulls
28:29 around it
28:31 nice I like that one I think that's
28:33 going to be our style but that's pretty
28:35 cool too isn't
28:37 it all right so wait so that's modern
28:40 pop art depict let's go modern pop art
28:42 that's that's really cool although
28:44 although that's
28:45 beautiful I don't know what do you think
28:48 I love pop art all right we'll go pop
28:49 art for in in celebration of lunatick
28:52 okay so we're going to go okay we're
28:54 going to
28:55 go okay I love the pop Arts style period
28:59 I want you to
29:01 make the
29:03 image
29:06 include the
29:12 value written out in
29:15 typography can you try
29:18 that uh uh uh uh pop art for the win pop
29:23 art for the
29:24 win Ron Oho Kyle Sur oy your regulars if
29:29 you're wondering what the hell we're
29:30 doing here we are playing with chat
29:34 GPT with Dolly incorporated into it it
29:37 is
29:40 amazing look curiosity that's really
29:44 cool wait but it spelled it wrong so
29:47 okay so great I've given the word
29:50 curiosity okay let's
29:52 uh uh that's great although you
29:55 misspelled curiosity and and it's a
29:58 little over the top period can you make
30:00 it a bit more subtle and bring back some
30:04 of the colors of the original pop image
30:07 you
30:09 did now it may or may not remember what
30:11 it wrote for for that
30:14 prompt but
30:17 this like like if you've ever worked
30:20 with an art director right if you've
30:22 ever worked with a
30:24 creative this is what you
30:26 do but this is normally conversations
30:29 that happen over days or weeks right
30:32 okay that's cool love
30:36 it so what what was the next
30:40 value the next value
30:46 generosity okay let's go with this
30:50 style period it looks
30:54 great the next value is
30:56 generosity Give Me Your Best
31:00 [Laughter]
31:04 Shot wow it can't spell now still still
31:09 misspelled I know oh wait did it just
31:11 misspell it
31:12 again oh yeah C
31:17 curiosity um we'll we'll fix it we'll go
31:20 back and tell it did it yeah so the
31:22 spelling the spelling thing is is off
31:24 but you you can generally get it there
31:26 that's generosity this is misspelled too
31:29 so so one of the things that I noticed
31:31 is um you you want to see something well
31:34 there's so there's so much to do there's
31:36 so much to talk about people I did a
31:39 thing yesterday where I tried to get it
31:40 to make the the zombie kid I had it WR a
31:43 children's book about a kid wearing Z
31:47 zombie makeup at a at a local Carnival
31:49 and then a turtle and and a hedgehog so
31:53 using all of our little inside jokes and
31:55 when it made the image of the kid did it
31:58 put him next to a mirror but then like
32:00 he didn't have zombie makeup on but his
32:02 reflection in the mirror did but but it
32:04 was coming out of the mirror it can't do
32:06 mirrors at all so this is very much an
32:09 alpha right now so it's like I think
32:12 they're still trying to get this thing
32:13 dialed in um but anyway um I'm going to
32:17 say
32:20 um both curiosity and generosity are
32:24 misspelled in your past two images
32:26 period why don't you try to do the first
32:28 four values in pop art where you
32:31 incorporate the name and try to get the
32:34 spelling of the value
32:41 [Laughter]
32:43 [Applause]
32:51 correct and it's pretty fast too um
32:54 that's why mine I had it put the
32:56 spelling
32:58 in mine I had to put the spelling in my
33:00 prompt oh that's interesting well it's
33:02 what's weird is it's got It's got the
33:04 spelling correct in the prompts th this
33:07 is this is a diffusion model problem I
33:10 mean the fact that they have these
33:11 things even remotely close to to getting
33:13 words right is pretty remarkable just
33:16 knowing the way diffusion models work I
33:17 have no idea how they're [ __ ] doing
33:19 this your prompt was spelled wrong in
33:21 the quotations oh was
33:26 it and
33:28 user error cure EOS it all right I think
33:32 we got them cure EOS
33:36 it
33:39 J
33:41 exp that's pretty rough
33:45 [Music]
33:48 exploration and then collaboration AI
33:52 collaboration wild wild wild wild wild
33:55 wild wild
33:58 um okay let's try something
34:01 new close that out we're going go new
34:03 chat I'm going to go
34:13 um let's
34:19 see uh
34:26 uh
34:30 I'd like to explore some different
34:32 styles of photographic images
34:36 period I like the work of ancel Adam's
34:39 period I also like noling
34:42 photographs
34:44 period can you give me an example of
34:47 each of those in portrait aspect
34:52 ratio and then add two additional
34:56 photograph Styles you think I might
35:03 like I'm sorry but I can't directly
35:06 reference styles of anthol Adams or
35:09 Nolan oh Nolan's not
35:12 right uhuh not Christopher
35:16 Nolan so it's got a safety guard rail
35:19 there so that's kind of
35:21 cool um I wanted noling not
35:26 Nolan
35:27 but again just just the idea that this
35:29 thing is writing the writing the prompts
35:33 for you and and I know listen I know
35:35 there's tools that can do this and
35:37 there's you can use chat gb4 there's
35:40 something different there there's a
35:44 um there's a different cognitive thing
35:47 happening for me because I'm in a
35:50 conversation
35:52 creating photographic stuff but look it
35:55 did you know portrait stuff
35:58 right um what's this
36:01 one photo in the style of a vintage
36:04 postcard that's kind of cool and what's
36:06 that photo with a dreamy ethereal
36:11 Vibe oh I like that dramatic composition
36:16 cobbled Street Okay so let's go
36:19 with so which one is that number
36:24 two I like the dramatic number two photo
36:28 period can you make
36:31 me four
36:34 images in 3x4 aspect
36:39 ratio of dramatic street
36:42 photography in Paris in the
36:51 [Music]
36:53 1950s photo of dramatic composition
36:58 vintage cars Parisian architecture in
37:00 the background sipping coffee Eiffel
37:03 Tower
37:22 1950s Herod D what's
37:26 happening
37:30 [Music]
37:33 I don't like safety guidelines because I
37:35 feel I tried to see what Taylor Swift
37:38 Travis Kel's child would look like oh it
37:42 did it did those in
37:44 4x3 not 3x they did them in 16
37:48 by9 and they don't look photographic at
37:55 all uh uh uh okay
37:57 so didn't didn't like that um let's go
38:02 see let's go grab this prompt for this
38:07 one so here's what I'm going to
38:11 do
38:13 um please use this prompt as
38:19 the
38:26 example now make
38:31 four
38:33 photos based on that prompt in a
38:37 portrait aspect
38:38 ratio period the subject should
38:44 be edgy street
38:46 photography in Paris in the
38:56 1950s
38:59 there are a whole lot of words I can use
39:01 in response to not having Dolly 3 but
39:03 they' all be
39:09 banned
39:11 um let's see I'm going to do something
39:14 here for the Irregulars that are on here
39:18 um hold hold one
39:22 [Music]
39:25 second
39:51 okay if you're an irregular go to the
39:52 Irregulars channel in
39:54 the um
39:58 in the Discord in the salon Discord I
40:00 think you'll like what you see
40:02 there oh look it did what we asked it
40:05 for yay you did it yay it doesn't suck
40:09 yay are you only able to do chat do this
40:12 in chat
40:14 gp4 with the dolly extension no you can
40:17 actually do this so Bing right now if
40:20 you go to
40:21 bing.com SLC create that's also um
40:28 Dolly
40:30 3 actually you know what let's let's
40:32 actually go experiment well let's look
40:33 at these images and then we'll go
40:34 experiment with
40:37 Bing these are pretty good oh that one's
40:40 beautiful they're not super
40:47 photographic it's disabled
40:50 eh dang I
40:54 thought it might be all right
40:57 sorry about that well it was a
40:59 short-lived window I guess they got all
41:01 the alpha testers they wanted I tried I
41:05 tried
41:06 people oh that's funny modern graffiti
41:09 in 1950s Paris with with with light
41:13 coming out of the
41:14 graffiti
41:17 um hey bud can you explain a little bit
41:19 about the vision feature with chbt I can
41:23 but I don't have it
41:25 unfortunately um
41:27 so so the vision
41:29 feature can analyze an image so if you
41:33 use there's there's a one of the modes
41:37 in gp4 is Advanced Data analysis so you
41:40 can analyze an image there you can
41:42 upload an image there and do things like
41:46 find out the file format or save it in a
41:48 different format or make it animate or
41:51 or figure out the colors in it that's
41:54 not the data analysis that that the
41:56 image
41:57 upload thing does the image upload is
41:59 actually site it can actually see what's
42:01 in an image so you can
42:04 take let me see if I got something
42:06 around here you could take something
42:08 like this
42:09 print and upload a picture of it and it
42:12 would describe the shapes in it the
42:14 composition maybe that it's art it might
42:17 even
42:19 recognize the signature it It'll
42:22 recognize you know that it's in a
42:25 series um
42:28 I saw one guy uploaded an electrical
42:31 engineering schematic of an electric
42:34 circuit and it analyzed it said here's
42:37 all the components in it and here's what
42:39 they all do um so um I've seen I've seen
42:45 other guys
42:47 upload literal chicken scratch from a
42:50 whiteboard of like here's the components
42:52 of a
42:53 website and it analyzed it and and like
42:56 one of the ones I saw they had like page
42:59 one and page two of the website but they
43:01 had arrows that sort of said these two
43:03 should be switched so basically they
43:06 they uploaded the photo of the website
43:08 and they said an you know analyze this
43:10 website and then write the code for each
43:12 of the pages of the website and it did
43:14 and it even switched you know pages one
43:16 and two is it just me or is Claude still
43:19 way better at analyzing summarizing
43:21 documents than chat GPT
43:24 um I I think it is and and even if it's
43:28 not better even if it's anywhere in the
43:30 neighborhood the fact that you can do
43:32 long documents if I'm doing document
43:34 analysis I'm generally going
43:37 to um
43:39 Claud if I'm doing if I want to do
43:43 anything with data in a CSV file I use
43:46 Advanced Data analysis and then if I
43:48 want anything that's like good writing
43:49 or good you know interesting
43:52 well-crafted stuff I use GPT 4 so I
43:55 again this this this is why I kick
43:57 around why I call these for the adult
44:00 table is the only reason Bard is in
44:03 number two is an anticipation of Gemini
44:06 coming but but for me right now these
44:09 two are the ones I use all the
44:11 time open.com and
44:15 Claude I use Bard yeah listen Bard's not
44:18 bad Bard's connected to the internet
44:20 there there's reasons like this is
44:22 definitely a major player and when
44:24 Gemini comes apparently Gemini is
44:26 supposed to be better than GPT 4 I
44:30 will chat GPT seems Dumber this week as
44:33 if 4 is 3.5 now yeah so like it's very
44:38 possible that they've done some things
44:41 from from what I understood of something
44:44 I saw I don't know a couple of months
44:45 ago about the the architecture of
44:49 gp4 it's actually eight different um 200
44:54 billion parameter models working in
44:57 concert with one another it's some crazy
45:00 ass thing so it's possible because
45:02 they're adding all this new
45:03 functionality they're doing things to
45:05 sort of
45:07 um reduce GPU load as they add these new
45:11 things and maybe they'll spin it back up
45:14 it's one of the one of the challenges of
45:16 working in anything generative AI right
45:19 now is everything is subject to change
45:23 everything the tools are going to change
45:25 they're going to come and they're going
45:26 to go um they're going to be connected
45:28 to the internet they're not going to be
45:30 connected to the inter internet they're
45:31 going to be brilliant they're going to
45:32 be shitty um they call it model drift
45:35 it's a very real thing so so everything
45:39 every single thing that you build these
45:41 days you should not get too married to
45:43 it just just chalk it up to learning
45:46 that that we all need to be learning
45:48 these skills and uh it's a good thing
45:50 let me go play with Bing I want to see
45:52 if we can do what we just
45:55 did um in gp4 in bing and see if it's
45:59 any
46:01 good in fact I'll do the exact same
46:03 thing all right so I'm going to go to
46:08 bing.com and then I'm going to go to
46:11 chat all right ask me anything yeah you
46:14 say that Bing until I actually ask you
46:16 something and then you yell at me for
46:18 being nasty okay so we're going to leave
46:20 it in more creative mode I'm going to
46:23 say based on this
46:27 uh
46:29 description of my AI community and our
46:37 values uh uh
46:41 uh oops I got to go get them again I
46:45 gotta go get them again people come on
46:48 people what are you talking about here
46:50 what are you doing you crazy
46:55 people
47:04 where is that B all right there's our
47:07 thing
47:10 um I'd like you to help me visualize the
47:14 values so we can create
47:18 images to bring the values to life for
47:21 the community period I want the images
47:24 to be compell
47:28 not
47:31 cliche and represent the value as it's
47:39 described let's see if Bing can do what
47:41 chat j p t can do we'll see it's going
47:43 to be interesting my guess is not going
47:46 to be as good
47:48 but this is using
47:51 um whatever you call it oops what did I
47:55 do
47:57 this is using Dolly 3 I'm glad to hear
48:00 that you're part of the AI
48:02 Salon I'll try to create that empathy
48:06 I'll try to create
48:10 that I have used my graphic art tool to
48:13 create some
48:16 images all right your image is taking a
48:25 while
48:27 Bard doesn't give me the same images but
48:29 it says it provides diagrams yeah Bard
48:32 Bard's not doing images yet but I think
48:34 Gemini is going to be multimodal I don't
48:36 know if it's going to make images but
48:39 but Bard can read images right now you
48:41 can upload an image to to Bard right now
48:43 and have it analyze what the image is
48:47 about can't create your images right now
48:50 due to high demand I mean this this is
48:52 astounding actually that you know
48:54 Microsoft with all of their servers and
48:56 Cloud infrastructure can't handle the
48:59 demand here's here's another fascinating
49:02 um uh number that I heard is that mid
49:06 Journey right now has about 15 million
49:09 uh
49:10 customers cppt has 180 million so
49:14 imagine going from you
49:16 know just imagine the growth in the
49:18 amount of people that are going to be
49:19 making making high quality
49:22 images um yeah it doesn't look like this
49:25 is it doesn't look like Bing is very
49:28 happy right now let me let me pop over
49:30 the other thing you can do at Bing so
49:32 I'm just at regular Bing chat like chat.
49:35 bing.com you can go to bing.com create
49:38 and that's actually the image
49:42 generator where you just sort of dump in
49:44 thank you for your patience our team is
49:46 working hard to fix the problem please
49:48 try again later yeah so it's it's a mess
49:51 mess right now um Bing gives you 99
49:54 credits a day
49:56 um so you so you can make I got the
49:58 demand comment all day today yeah people
50:01 are discovering that this dolly3 thing
50:03 is really good and that's that's the
50:07 problem um because you have millions and
50:09 millions of people and and in chat PT
50:12 they're going to probably roll that [ __ ]
50:14 out pretty slowly because otherwise it's
50:16 just going to tank their
50:18 servers so anyway all right let's get to
50:22 some questions if you're uh if you're
50:24 here welcome if you're new my name is
50:26 Kyle Shannon this is the AI learning
50:35 lab he learning lab see WN Radio rock
50:39 and hip hop traffic on the
50:43 nines thanks for the Roses wsn radio
50:46 what's
50:47 happening just got the number two gifter
50:49 badge look at you look at you getting
50:52 [Laughter]
50:54 badges
50:57 oh
50:58 man uh what's Dolly T Dolly 3 so it's D
51:04 L3
51:06 D- e space 3 so if we go
51:12 to go to um
51:17 open.com SL
51:20 D-
51:23 E-3 and it's a page that explains it's
51:26 it's the it's the image generation model
51:29 that follows DOL
51:30 2 um from open AI but it's really good
51:34 it's really good it's really really
51:38 good um and Dolly 2 was bad it was it
51:43 was bad it was embarrassing it wasn't
51:45 embarrassingly bad but it was not good
51:48 if you compared it to Mid Journey or
51:50 stable diffusion or ideogram or any of
51:52 them Dolly 2 was really bad Dolly 3
51:56 is kind of
51:59 like old stable diffusion in terms of
52:02 image quality but it's really accurate
52:06 in terms of including things you put in
52:09 your prompt so it's uh it's really and
52:12 it can do text it can do text quite
52:17 well loaded GPT on my 86-year-old mom's
52:21 phone she'll be up all night that's
52:24 [ __ ] awesome
52:28 did you did you load the one in where
52:29 she can talk to it I haven't even
52:31 checked my phone to see if if you can
52:33 talk to it um if I want a word included
52:36 in an image how can I craft my prompt so
52:38 the results are legible well if you're
52:42 using Dolly 3 you just ask for it just
52:44 put the word in quotes um but I found
52:47 you don't even have to do that um you
52:50 can just tell it you want it to put a
52:51 word in the image that's what I was
52:53 doing with my uh these here's the uh
52:56 here's the images I created um last
52:59 night my these are my first six images
53:02 well no this was
53:04 probably total I probably did um 20
53:09 images but these were the these were the
53:11 six that I picked the these were the
53:13 ones that I did last night so there's
53:15 empathy inclusion what's wrong champy
53:18 you want to get up there go up
53:21 there there's collaboration that one's
53:23 kind of cool it's like a big old library
53:25 and all these people are collaborating
53:26 on screens that's pretty cool there's
53:30 exploration that one's brilliant
53:33 beautiful that's generosity it's creepy
53:36 but it's cool and there's
53:39 curiosity that's the that's the one for
53:41 me curiosity that that's this is the
53:44 skill of
53:48 2024 and and today quite frankly like if
53:51 if you're here if you haven't played
53:52 with chat gbt yet let's do this
53:57 if you haven't played with chat GPT yet
53:59 go there right now like I don't care if
54:01 you're like but I don't want a Kyle I
54:03 don't I don't agree with AI I think it's
54:06 steals all that just I don't care just
54:09 go there if you haven't gone there if
54:11 you're sitting on the sidelines
54:13 pontificating about the eeve evil of AI
54:17 just go there just go there and start
54:19 playing it's a tool it's not an evil
54:22 robot it's a tool it's a tool that's
54:24 been trained up on lot of writing of
54:27 lots and lots of like all of the public
54:29 internet for like the past 35 years and
54:33 just start interacting with it just
54:34 start playing with it um start getting
54:37 curious about this stuff start talking
54:39 about it like lunatick did she was
54:42 talking about it and this AI stuff's
54:44 cool and they're like hey you want to be
54:45 in a meeting and she's like sure I'll be
54:46 in a meeting and they're like hey could
54:48 you tell us about Ai and she's like sure
54:49 I'll tell you about AI oh you got to see
54:52 the boss
54:54 man
54:57 this is the amount of opportunity right
55:00 now for all of us if we get curious
55:02 about this stuff and start
55:07 exploring is massive it's [ __ ]
55:11 massive did I say it was
55:19 massive massive why because we're just
55:23 getting started we're just getting
55:25 started how do I know this sir well can
55:28 I ask you what are your qualifications
55:30 what are your qualifications sir how do
55:32 you know that there's opportunity for us
55:34 yeah s s s please do
55:38 tell see I've been an entrepreneur for a
55:41 long time I'm old I'm unhirable at this
55:45 point and I started a lot of companies
55:48 and one of the companies I started was
55:50 in 1994 right in the early days of the
55:52 worldwide web I started one of the first
55:54 digital agencies called agency.com
55:57 so I know what it feels like to be at
55:59 the beginning of one of these
56:02 technological [ __ ] explosions and
56:05 that was trippy like being being in New
56:09 York City in 1994 and being in the
56:11 middle of the internet um silicon alley
56:14 as they call it was absolutely
56:18 insane this AI
56:21 stuff it just it makes that [ __ ] look
56:24 quaint it makes it look quaint we're
56:27 right at the beginning no one knows
56:28 about this stuff a lot of people haven't
56:31 even heard of chat GPT much less used
56:36 it so just go there and start playing CL
56:39 uh chat. open.com just go right
56:43 there and any one of these four would be
56:46 worth you playing with but but that's
56:48 that's the one they're the ones that
56:50 started it they've got a bunch of new
56:51 [ __ ] right now that's really
56:54 powerful do you think Bing will move to
56:56 a subscription service not for their not
56:59 for bing.com they'll they'll they'll
57:01 keep supporting that they'll keep
57:03 underwriting that any any chance that
57:05 they have to take any market share from
57:07 Google they're going to they're going to
57:10 keep that available and the the thing
57:12 about Microsoft is they can um
57:16 monetize um their AI stuff with their
57:19 software so they can give the [ __ ]
57:24 away is't that a cool
57:27 image I don't know I like it I like it I
57:31 mean it doesn't have the Fidelity of mid
57:33 Journey right it doesn't have the
57:35 sophistication of it so it's it's a
57:37 little bit more like early stable
57:38 diffusion but
57:40 dang it's good it's good it's good it's
57:43 good it's good I created a presentation
57:45 today with 100% Graphics based on Dolly
57:47 3 and it's beautiful I know I'm like my
57:50 uh the the the deck for my workshop
57:52 tomorrow has got a bunch of dolly3 stuff
57:55 in it as
57:57 well I I I mean honest to God the
57:59 difference oh you want to see something
58:01 okay watch this okay so so we're gonna
58:04 do we're GNA do um making an image with
58:08 mid Journey versus making an image with
58:10 Dolly 3 right so mid Journey you've got
58:13 to go to Discord for one
58:16 thing and then you got to find a channel
58:19 that's got mid Journey where you can
58:21 generate mid Journey
58:24 stuff and you need to know the
58:27 commands so so so what what are the
58:31 commands well the first one is slash
58:35 imagine and then you got to type in a
58:37 prompt
58:41 um an image of a group of people
58:44 standing deep in the
58:46 woods with a beam of Blue Light breaking
58:50 through the
58:51 trees as they look up period
58:58 let's
59:02 [Music]
59:05 see the word
59:08 curiosity should appear somewhere in the
59:12 image all right and then I hit return
59:16 and now it goes off and it does
59:19 something and see all these see all
59:22 these
59:23 buttons what what are these uh I don't
59:27 know they're they're things like you can
59:29 zoom out and you can do variations and
59:31 you can pan and you can how are you
59:33 supposed to know that well you have to
59:35 learn it you have to learn it like
59:36 command line now is it impossible to
59:38 learn no anyone can learn it but it's
59:41 just you know crazy did I sell the
59:44 domain for agency.com yeah we well we
59:46 sold agency.com to onnom and then they
59:49 rolled agency.com into TB tbwa shy at
59:53 day and then they gave it to some French
59:56 design firm called the designery and so
59:58 they the agency.com has been pointed to
1:00:02 some French design firm for [ __ ] 20
1:00:06 years I've I've I've written to I've
1:00:09 written to you know Senior Management at
1:00:11 Omnicom going can I have that [ __ ]
1:00:12 domain back if you're not using it yeah
1:00:15 [ __ ] so did this almost looks like
1:00:19 it got the word right
1:00:22 almost uh uh uhuh but it didn't
1:00:26 uh or did it I can't see is that
1:00:30 Curiosity so oh so when you make
1:00:32 something in in mid Journey you get the
1:00:34 this this four up thing and then you
1:00:36 have um upscale and variation so U1
1:00:40 through 4 V1 through four this is very
1:00:43 this is very sort of engineering kind
1:00:46 kind kind of solutions it's 1 2 34 and
1:00:49 then there's boxes that represent each
1:00:51 of those images and you can either make
1:00:53 it bigger or you can get different ones
1:00:55 so we'll just say um it looks like three
1:00:58 might have the word curiosity in it uh
1:01:02 uh
1:01:07 uh it
1:01:09 says car
1:01:12 [Laughter]
1:01:16 youra can you see it no you can't all
1:01:20 right well
1:01:21 whatever um so so that's you know that's
1:01:24 that's mid Journey you have to know
1:01:25 Discord you have to learn all this stuff
1:01:27 it's just wonky and weird and then
1:01:29 you're in Discord I it's just it's all
1:01:31 over the place and then you know inside
1:01:34 chat
1:01:37 GPT you know you go to the dolly3 thing
1:01:39 and you just say
1:01:42 um make me an image of people standing
1:01:47 in the
1:01:47 woods late at night with a bright blue
1:01:51 beam breaking down from the trees as
1:01:53 they stare up in one period on the image
1:01:57 the word
1:02:00 curiosity should be
1:02:04 subtly included but clearly
1:02:13 legible and now it's rewriting my prompt
1:02:16 for me so and like like that's actually
1:02:19 a pretty big deal again there's tools
1:02:20 that you can do this with
1:02:23 where you can write a shitty prompt and
1:02:26 it will go fix it for you but but like
1:02:29 this is doing it in line within within
1:02:31 the experience and it's you know it's
1:02:33 giving me four versions but it's not
1:02:35 giving me four versions based on the
1:02:37 same prompt it's writing four different
1:02:39 prompts so look this one's a vector
1:02:43 image this one's an illustration this is
1:02:45 a
1:02:46 photo this is
1:02:52 cool oh I don't see the little spinny oh
1:02:55 yeah spinning wheel's still there all
1:02:56 right come on make your pretty pictures
1:02:59 make your pretty
1:03:03 pictures oh those are not pretty they're
1:03:05 ugly they're
1:03:07 ugly I hope you find the generated
1:03:10 images to your liking however I'd like
1:03:12 to mention I was unable to generate all
1:03:14 of them due to a Content policy well you
1:03:17 wrote The Prompt you dumb
1:03:19 [Laughter]
1:03:23 dumb
1:03:28 [Music]
1:03:34 can you make the
1:03:36 images more painterly and
1:03:46 impressionistic boom off it
1:03:49 goes oil painting of an impressionistic
1:03:53 Style
1:03:57 depicting a diverse group of people
1:03:58 standing in a dense forest the Moonlight
1:04:00 creates a bright beam blue beam that
1:04:03 penetrates the canopy Illuminating their
1:04:05 faces with awe and wonder the word
1:04:08 curiosity is artistically
1:04:10 incorporated into the glowing amidst the
1:04:13 darkness in I'd like to wait I like your
1:04:17 use of this app technology sir well
1:04:20 thank you very much I appreciate
1:04:23 that I'm just so so to be clear one you
1:04:26 know one of the things one of the things
1:04:28 that these people drive me crazy with
1:04:32 you can make
1:04:33 money all the people are like I'm a
1:04:35 [ __ ] expert no I'm a [ __ ] expert
1:04:37 no I'm a [ __ ] expert no one's an
1:04:39 expert right now everyone's trying to
1:04:41 figure this stuff out so My Philosophy
1:04:44 with this live and with this Channel and
1:04:47 with what I do is
1:04:49 just this is a way for me to
1:04:52 process how to use these tools tools
1:04:55 because I don't know how to use
1:04:57 them like oh but you're good with words
1:04:59 well okay good yeah some other people
1:05:01 are good with pictures some other people
1:05:03 are good with code some other like the
1:05:06 It doesn't there there's we're all
1:05:07 trying to figure this stuff out and and
1:05:10 everyone's going to have access to
1:05:12 things they didn't think were possible
1:05:15 but they
1:05:16 are um it really misspelled curiosity
1:05:20 bad there got cure curity likeit
1:05:26 cure it missed the
1:05:29 eye yeah so it misspelled it three times
1:05:32 in a row and then it didn't make the
1:05:33 fourth
1:05:34 image but they look nice oh look
1:05:38 [Laughter]
1:05:43 animation all right Bob tell him what
1:05:45 he's W let's go to some let's go to some
1:05:50 [Laughter]
1:05:51 [Music]
1:05:53 questions did anyone see the AI Emoji
1:05:56 Creator released today no is it is it
1:06:00 from one of the big players or was it
1:06:01 just a standalone
1:06:04 thing
1:06:07 AI
1:06:08 Emoji maker I assume this is just kind
1:06:12 of a rapper sitting on top
1:06:17 of appy
1:06:22 pie I don't see any big announcement
1:06:26 there there's probably a lot of them out
1:06:27 there actually that that make cuz
1:06:29 because you can basically just create a
1:06:31 model like a stable diffusion model
1:06:33 that's good at um emojis and then just
1:06:38 launch it as an app that's probably what
1:06:40 that is that's probably you can make
1:06:43 money with J all you have to do is write
1:06:45 a prompt and make your your train your
1:06:48 stable Fusion to do this throw a prompt
1:06:51 on top of it and put it out to the world
1:06:53 you can make money what CH there's going
1:06:56 to be so many of those [ __ ] apps it's
1:06:58 going to be painful if it's not that um
1:07:01 let me know uh I'm a librarian would you
1:07:04 message me with it please I will post it
1:07:06 for Kyle and Discord okay wait Kyle
1:07:08 Shannon Sherry
1:07:10 Banks I'm asking for entry into the
1:07:14 Irregulars oh yeah Sherry
1:07:19 Banks yeah hang
1:07:23 on are asking
1:07:28 [Music]
1:07:30 for we do this [ __ ] in real time here
1:07:33 people we do it in real time wait why
1:07:35 does this Discord not have
1:07:39 roles introduce
1:07:49 yourself all right I'll get all those
1:07:51 people I can't I can't do it right now
1:07:53 cuz um I've got iPad Discord up and yeah
1:07:57 I want to do it here so I'll I'll get
1:08:00 those people me too may I get entries
1:08:02 into the um hair growth geek what's your
1:08:05 uh just um in the intro Channel I don't
1:08:09 know what your Discord name is if it's
1:08:11 hair growth geek I'll recognize you if
1:08:13 it's not that just let me know that
1:08:15 you're you and I'll put you in actually
1:08:17 anyone in here just in the introduce
1:08:21 yourself section just you know let me
1:08:24 know who you are in here and if you're
1:08:26 in a regular I'll just put you in there
1:08:28 I'll just do it I'll just do it later
1:08:29 I'll do it after this when I have when I
1:08:31 have access to it cuz right now it's
1:08:34 just chaos in here it's just chaos
1:08:35 people I don't know if you know what it
1:08:38 this is like in here but it's chaos it's
1:08:40 just
1:08:41 chaos
1:08:42 [Laughter]
1:08:44 [Music]
1:08:49 um the old adage limitation is the best
1:08:52 form oh imitation is the best form form
1:08:54 flattery this is chat GPT what's the
1:08:57 Discord okay so the Discord
1:09:01 is I've got a group that I started a
1:09:04 few not a few almost a year ago now holy
1:09:08 crap so when chat GPT first came out I
1:09:12 thought huh this
1:09:15 is this feels almost identical to when I
1:09:18 stumbled upon this thing called the
1:09:20 worldwide web in 1994 and thought huh
1:09:23 what's this thing
1:09:26 and so I started in 1994 I started a
1:09:28 group in New York City called the
1:09:30 worldwide web artist Consortium it
1:09:32 became whack
1:09:34 wwwc um it ended up being like a 2,000
1:09:37 person organization we met at the Sony
1:09:39 building every other week it was it was
1:09:41 insane so I started the AI Salon as a
1:09:45 similar kind of group because what I
1:09:47 what I learned back in 1994 is that why
1:09:50 I started the group was I assumed that
1:09:53 there were a bunch of people people out
1:09:54 there that knew more than I did cuz I
1:09:56 didn't know [ __ ] and what I learned was
1:09:58 that everyone was trying to find out who
1:10:00 knew more than they did nobody knew
1:10:02 anything that's where we are with this
1:10:04 stuff right now it is crazy it's new it
1:10:08 is
1:10:10 profound it's powerful and it's
1:10:13 incomplete janky shitty
1:10:17 technology and it keeps changing I mean
1:10:19 honestly like like literally before I
1:10:21 got on tonight I got access to with Bing
1:10:25 and last night at midnight I got access
1:10:27 to the drawing thing the dolly
1:10:30 3 and at some point here shortly um
1:10:34 Google's going to launch Gemini and
1:10:35 that's going to change [ __ ] and then
1:10:37 November 1st Office 365 is going to get
1:10:42 um co-pilot chat gp4 inside Microsoft
1:10:45 Word and Excel and
1:10:49 PowerPoint how do you use that I don't
1:10:51 [ __ ] know what can you do with that
1:10:54 probably
1:10:56 Lots so we're all trying to figure this
1:10:58 out so that's why we're here that's like
1:11:00 why we hang out why the Irregulars are
1:11:03 so irregular is they can't [ __ ] sleep
1:11:06 anymore cuz the minute so here's the
1:11:08 deal and oh so anyway the Discord that
1:11:11 group go to go to that URL and it's a
1:11:13 link tree
1:11:14 there
1:11:16 and that group we meet by- weekly so we
1:11:20 meet online and we meet in person here
1:11:21 in Denver because that's where I am and
1:11:24 then we've got the Discord and it's got
1:11:25 guilds we just added guilds to it so you
1:11:27 can find your own sub communities within
1:11:32 it
1:11:33 and you know we're all just trying to
1:11:35 figure this [ __ ] out so if if you're new
1:11:38 here if you're new to AI if you're like
1:11:41 well I'm too far behind to start now I'm
1:11:43 too old to learn anything new no you're
1:11:46 not look at
1:11:49 me I'm [ __ ]
1:11:51 ancient [ __ ] gen xer I'm bitter I'm
1:11:55 bitter bitter you
1:11:57 betcha go to chat.
1:12:02 open.com and start playing Source Camp
1:12:05 can't sleep
1:12:07 welcome I am I am your cure for
1:12:12 insomnia oh man alive man alive man
1:12:17 alive man alive y all are just your
1:12:21 cooky
1:12:22 um all right let's
1:12:29 see hair loss GE hair growth geek I'm
1:12:32 Kyle's ADHD ooc CD Tourette's twin
1:12:37 sister welcome to Chad
1:12:39 add oh it's so true but you know what I
1:12:44 it's it's so funny like one of the
1:12:47 beautiful things of you know living on
1:12:50 the planet for a while is a lot of the
1:12:55 stuff that I used to shame myself over
1:12:57 and I wasn't even necessarily shamed by
1:13:00 it but like you know just my my
1:13:03 inability to have anything resembling
1:13:06 executive function you know you know
1:13:09 it's like a block of it's like a block
1:13:11 of rubber from sort of here back to here
1:13:14 my prefrontal lobe is just you know a
1:13:19 non-existent piece of nothing um
1:13:24 I spent so many years of my life like
1:13:26 trying to solve it right cuz like one of
1:13:30 the things that ad gives you is like I I
1:13:32 can [ __ ] figure it out because you
1:13:33 can you know whatever synthesize [ __ ]
1:13:36 really quick
1:13:37 right so I I sort of lived with this
1:13:40 fantasy of like I could solve like
1:13:42 whatever the problem was I can solve
1:13:44 it and and and so like in the in the 80s
1:13:50 and then in the '90s you know before we
1:13:52 had smartphones and internet everywhere
1:13:55 we had these things called filofaxes
1:13:58 they were they were books that were like
1:14:00 this thick and and it every page was a
1:14:02 different day and you could organize
1:14:04 your life in it you could write contexts
1:14:07 in I must have bought [ __ ] 474
1:14:10 different kinds of fses to try to I'm
1:14:13 like if I just find the right system
1:14:15 then I can organize [ __ ] and I don't
1:14:18 know when it hit me it was it was
1:14:19 probably my mid-40s I just went oh I get
1:14:23 it
1:14:24 I'm never going to be good at
1:14:27 that and then I started like recognizing
1:14:30 that and surrounding myself with people
1:14:32 that were good at that [ __ ] I'm like I'm
1:14:34 good at this [ __ ] you want ideas you
1:14:37 want wacky synthesis you want you know
1:14:40 fun you know great bring me in you want
1:14:43 to get [ __ ] done meet my partner
1:14:45 Mo'Nique in my case of
1:14:48 storyvine I'm the reason storyvine
1:14:51 exists Monique is the reason storyvine
1:14:53 still in
1:14:54 business my mom's 86 ' 86 and getting
1:14:58 great at prompting anyone can learn this
1:15:01 this is so people
1:15:05 people you know what they call these
1:15:07 these chat GPT things right large
1:15:10 language models what are
1:15:13 we large language models one of the most
1:15:17 profound things about chat and the large
1:15:20 language models is
1:15:22 that
1:15:25 you don't need to be a technologist to
1:15:27 use them you just need to use
1:15:32 words and they're getting better and
1:15:34 better like if you notice when I was
1:15:36 playing with the with the dolly 3 within
1:15:38 chat gbt it's writing prompts for me you
1:15:42 don't even need to you're not going to
1:15:43 be need you're not going to need to be
1:15:45 good at prompting as these things get
1:15:48 more sophisticated they're going to
1:15:49 prompt
1:15:51 themselves your only job is going to be
1:15:54 have an
1:15:55 intent and then like curate the [ __ ] it
1:15:58 generates and refine
1:16:02 it so yeah it's it's crazy ADHD and
1:16:08 being interested in AI is definitely
1:16:09 correlated yeah I don't I don't I I
1:16:12 would not be at all surprised if there
1:16:14 weren't science behind that I
1:16:22 got
1:16:52 one
1:17:01 I'll tell
1:17:03 you come on

1:20:37 goog and Pate
1:20:41 is yes um Pate has a a good sense of
1:20:45 humor for one
1:20:47 thing all right fast stable diffusion

1:21:01 sorry generate um all right uh let's
1:21:10 see oil
1:21:12 painting of a kid in zombie

1:21:24 declaring his love for
1:21:29 Turtles error please try again with a
1:21:32 different
1:21:32 prompt why you don't like zombie kids is
1:21:36 it
1:21:37 love
1:21:39 this let's see let's see dancing with
1:21:45 [Laughter]
1:21:47 turtles uh it's erroring out on me
1:21:51 Pate something up
1:21:53 something up past
1:21:56 Generations I don't have
1:22:02 any anyway this is super
1:22:05 cool oh but what I was saying is is um I
1:22:09 make fun of Google a lot in here because
1:22:11 how far behind they got with this stuff
1:22:14 but they're going to come out swinging I
1:22:17 think they're pissed over there they're
1:22:19 like uh you know we invented this [ __ ]
1:22:21 right you do know that right
1:22:24 they are rightly
1:22:26 pissed um anyway I'll I'll come back to
1:22:29 this I'll check it out I'll check it out
1:22:31 uh
1:22:32 tomorrow and then I'll come back and do
1:22:34 it so uh I'm excited about what's coming
1:22:37 from Google actually some of the image
1:22:38 stuff that they showed earlier in the
1:22:40 summer when that stuff hits is going to
1:22:43 it's going to change things as
1:22:45 well we're just in we're just in
1:22:48 nuttiness we are in nuttiness this was I
1:22:52 can't talk about about what image tool I
1:22:54 use to make this but this is an image
1:22:56 tool that makes things in 4k I think
1:22:59 it's I think it's a startup out of India
1:23:00 I don't think it's going to be a major
1:23:02 player but I did the car in Photoshop
1:23:05 generative fill because it was just
1:23:07 empty down here and it looked weird and
1:23:10 then there there was some weird letters
1:23:12 in the sky I got rid of those and added
1:23:14 that cloud it's just amazing that we can
1:23:17 we can do this stuff now isn't
1:23:21 it it's just it's just
1:23:24 Bonkers it's just
1:23:28 Bonkers
1:23:30 um should be under 4 seconds for four
1:23:33 Images Oh that's awesome yeah I've heard
1:23:36 that the the uh the CEO of stability AI
1:23:39 said that the the tool that they're
1:23:41 playing with internally for image
1:23:44 generation at stability AI is is doing
1:23:48 60 images a second so that's that's sort
1:23:52 of game game level frame rates so video
1:23:57 game level frame rates it's
1:24:00 generating 60 images in a second
1:24:04 so so let's say so they're playing with
1:24:06 that now let's say that that
1:24:10 takes a year before we see some sort of
1:24:14 research out there about it and then
1:24:16 it's going to be another year till till
1:24:18 it hits but what that means is within 2
1:24:21 years
1:24:25 like like the the little the the playing
1:24:27 I did in chat gp4 where it was
1:24:29 generating the images and it it took a
1:24:31 while to write the prompts and stuff
1:24:33 like that you're just going to either
1:24:35 type or
1:24:37 talk um you know make me a movie make me
1:24:42 a video of someone saying this doing
1:24:45 this in this
1:24:49 style I don't know in this language and
1:24:52 go
1:24:53 just go it's like it's
1:24:56 like really yeah really um let me see
1:25:01 something here I'm G to try
1:25:10 [Music]
1:25:13 something edit
1:25:16 rolls all right I'm a librarian you're
1:25:20 in the
1:25:21 irregular
1:25:23 um
1:25:27 [Music]
1:25:35 [Music]
1:25:38 thing hair growth geek you're an
1:25:42 irregular you're an irregular and you're
1:25:44 an irregular and you're an
1:25:46 [Laughter]
1:25:48 irregular um who else we got here
1:25:57 [Music]
1:26:00 all right I'll go back in there anyway I
1:26:02 just saw that I just made two of you are
1:26:06 regulars yes Arts my bag I like
1:26:13 turtles it's not meant to be the highest
1:26:16 performing image per seconds we're more
1:26:18 concerned with performance
1:26:21 TCO
1:26:24 oh no I wasn't no I think I think four
1:26:26 images in 4 seconds is is pretty
1:26:28 impressive p no I was just talking about
1:26:30 what what what stability AI was talking
1:26:33 about coming down the line I'm sure
1:26:34 Google's got some [ __ ] coming down the
1:26:36 line too how do I get into the irregular
1:26:39 group uh you have to just show up a lot
1:26:41 and participate and then
1:26:44 you're
1:26:45 why why are they called Irregulars
1:26:48 because they show up every night to
1:26:50 watch some old man
1:26:53 mutter incoherently about artificial
1:26:57 intelligence so in a regular so it's
1:26:59 just it's just a a name of the people
1:27:01 that show up here regularly so um can
1:27:05 you show Vision real fast I can't
1:27:07 because I don't have access to Vision I
1:27:10 would show it I can show
1:27:12 you I can show you um whatever you call
1:27:16 it I can show you it making images let
1:27:20 me let me go see that it's possible They
1:27:23 just added it no let me re reload
1:27:28 here no I don't have it so when you have
1:27:31 Vision there's going to be a little
1:27:32 camera icon right here in in in regular
1:27:36 gp4 default
1:27:38 chat when you go to that if you've got
1:27:42 Vision then you'll see a little camera
1:27:44 icon here and I don't have that but what
1:27:47 I do have which I don't think a lot of
1:27:49 people have is this bad boy dol3 beta
1:27:54 that's actually Alpha they shouldn't
1:27:56 call that a beta because it's it's
1:27:59 rough but
1:28:02 um
1:28:05 um let's
1:28:12 see can you create an image that
1:28:16 combines the style of the great masters
1:28:19 of the Renaissance with pop art
1:28:23 and
1:28:24 surrealism where the subject
1:28:30 is a turtle in a
1:28:32 clearing being beamed up into a
1:28:37 UFO period in the
1:28:40 sky there is the
1:28:46 text AI learning
1:28:51 lab all right right let's see how this
1:28:55 does I mean this is the visual
1:28:57 equivalent of there's a there's a video
1:28:59 of Jordan Peterson talking about the
1:29:01 first time he used chat GPT and how to
1:29:03 do all these philosophical things and
1:29:06 and and just combine like it wrote a
1:29:08 13th rule of life for his book rule of
1:29:11 life and did it combining the styles of
1:29:14 two different um people and like famous
1:29:19 philosophers so I assume this is going
1:29:21 to do at least something interesting um
1:29:24 where can I find the new beta the new
1:29:26 beta of what of this that I'm showing
1:29:29 here so if you want to play with dolly3
1:29:31 you can play with dolly3 right now at
1:29:34 bing.com so if you go to
1:29:36 bing.com create or just bing.com and go
1:29:39 into chat and ask it to make images
1:29:41 it'll do
1:29:43 that um and then oh these are pretty
1:29:46 good oh it's it's a turtle it's beaming
1:29:49 up a
1:29:51 turtle
1:29:54 I mean I know that's what I asked for
1:29:56 but like come on does it not still blow
1:29:58 your [ __ ] mind that we're in a world
1:30:00 that this can
1:30:01 happen have you ever tried to photoshop
1:30:04 some like if you don't have illustration
1:30:05 skills have you ever tried to photoshop
1:30:08 some [ __ ] together to get something
1:30:10 resembling your idea of what you have in
1:30:12 your head oh my God that one's brilliant
1:30:15 all right this one we're saving it's
1:30:17 just brilliant I wish it weren't a sea
1:30:19 turtle but I love it and look at look at
1:30:22 the I I had it combine the Renaissance
1:30:25 masters with pop art so it's got pop art
1:30:28 colors with Salvador Dolly it's so good
1:30:31 it's so
1:30:34 good oh
1:30:38 man it's so good uh let's see a i l l
1:30:43 Turtle
1:30:51 UFO
1:30:55 Turtle UFO
1:30:59 Bang Fantastic Bob tell him what he's
1:31:03 won you've won a ride in a dis shaped
1:31:08 vehicle I'm a librarian thanks for
1:31:10 letting me in yes yes yes of
1:31:21 course
1:31:25 [Music]
1:31:26 here I'm giving someone else someone
1:31:28 else someone else is becoming an AI
1:31:31 regular right now
1:31:34 boom all right aperture you're
1:31:42 in oh man um okay how does Bing's
1:31:46 version compared to chat gpt's version
1:31:49 um I don't know well no well
1:31:55 yes my expert opinion after two days two
1:31:59 days of using these
1:32:01 tools my deep trusted expert opinion is
1:32:06 that um Microsoft either has too many
1:32:10 people using it or not enough gpus
1:32:12 dedicated to it so it's
1:32:15 bad canva has AI now yep that's much
1:32:19 cooler yeah the canva stuff is looking
1:32:20 pretty interesting he so here's the deal
1:32:23 people here the deal here the deal AI is
1:32:26 going to be everywhere it's going to be
1:32:28 like internet right right now we go to
1:32:31 AI right you go to chat GPT you go to
1:32:35 Bing you go to Mid Journey it's not
1:32:39 going to be like that you're using canva
1:32:42 what's canva do it generates content
1:32:44 well is it going to generate original
1:32:47 content it is now you know Microsoft
1:32:51 Word you you don't go to chat GPD and
1:32:53 paste it into Microsoft Word it's just
1:32:55 going to be in there right so so that's
1:32:57 that's where a lot of this stuff's
1:32:58 headed um I don't know what I was
1:33:01 talking about welcome to chat
1:33:04 ad um I like that turtle image let's
1:33:08 flip this let's get
1:33:10 him let's get him all all big there
1:33:14 that's
1:33:15 beautiful look at that we just made that
1:33:17 oh oh you the question was um how does
1:33:20 Bing compared to Dolly 3 and chat GPT
1:33:25 4
1:33:27 um chat gp4 in open AI is dramatically
1:33:33 better
1:33:35 than chat gp4 in bing because Bing
1:33:40 safety guard rails are just weird it's
1:33:43 just it's like it's like the lawyers
1:33:46 wrote them and the engineers just said
1:33:48 well [ __ ] it and just put them in there
1:33:50 so it just it it's just
1:33:54 weird and then when you generate the
1:33:57 images it only generates Square images
1:33:59 which historically would be a problem
1:34:01 but now with Photoshop generative fill I
1:34:03 don't give a [ __ ] if an image is the
1:34:05 wrong aspect ratio like if I want this
1:34:08 image to
1:34:09 be a vertical image not a horizontal
1:34:11 image we just go make it
1:34:15 right so I assume that the
1:34:19 dolly3 engine is the same is what
1:34:24 um is what open AI is using but but
1:34:28 their their chat application's not the
1:34:30 same so it's possible they've even got
1:34:31 different training data for dolly3 Bing
1:34:34 versus dolly3 open
1:34:36 AI you in open AI I can I can tell at
1:34:40 aspect as aspect ratios and it does them
1:34:43 and Bing doesn't do that I don't think
1:34:45 but Bing's just overloaded right now as
1:34:47 well so I don't know I do not know
1:34:51 you're upd updated o is triggering which
1:34:55 what hm do I need anything geeky to make
1:34:58 a bot and po whereas prompting enough no
1:35:00 here I'll show you right now it's super
1:35:05 easy so for those of you that don't know
1:35:08 po this is one of the sites I recommend
1:35:09 playing with that one's Leonardo that
1:35:11 one's cool
1:35:13 too po po po po po po po po po po po po
1:35:18 po po okay so PO is just like chat GPT
1:35:22 but you have a bunch of different models
1:35:24 They just added web search which is cool
1:35:26 you can use gp4 here you can use you
1:35:30 know the Claude 100,000 token models
1:35:33 here some of them require a subscription
1:35:35 gp4 and the good Claude models um but
1:35:39 you can use it for free and then it's
1:35:41 got all these Bots right like there's a
1:35:44 an UNO bot and there's a wrap bot and I
1:35:48 made a Shakespeare bot and I made a
1:35:52 sling blade bot and I made an Emily
1:35:54 Dickinson bot so so how do you make a
1:35:57 bot
1:35:58 well you go up here to create
1:36:01 bot and um you name
1:36:05 it and so you know whatever you want it
1:36:08 to be Jay-Z or like I made a Jay-Z one
1:36:11 so
1:36:13 um whatever you know Taylor Swift what
1:36:17 whatever then you you write the bot
1:36:19 description then you choose
1:36:22 which model you want to use do you want
1:36:24 to use
1:36:25 gp4 I would it although it's limited
1:36:28 access for non-subscribers so if this is
1:36:30 something you're going to share with
1:36:31 people and you want people to use it a
1:36:33 lot they might get rate limited if you
1:36:36 select GPT
1:36:37 4 um but but you know you've also got
1:36:41 Claude 2 100,000 right so you could
1:36:44 create a bot where you can upload really
1:36:45 large files into it so you pick a model
1:36:49 and then um
1:36:52 here's the prompt right so I want you to
1:36:54 act like let me go find here's my I am
1:36:57 Shakespeare bot so let me go grab
1:37:02 my my description so my description for
1:37:06 Shakespeare you are a chatbot embodying
1:37:08 the renowned playright William
1:37:10 Shakespeare engage with users as if
1:37:12 you're crafting a play for them using
1:37:15 authentic shakesperian language and
1:37:16 phrasing your responses must adhere to
1:37:19 the I adhere to I Amic pentameter with
1:37:22 stanzas extending Beyond two lines if
1:37:25 needed your memory of your written words
1:37:28 is impeccable allowing you to quote
1:37:30 lines blah so it's it's basically just
1:37:33 like a a fat description of what you
1:37:36 wanted to like who it is and what you
1:37:38 want it to do and then you can write an
1:37:40 intro message and you can create um a
1:37:44 picture so I created a picture of
1:37:47 Shakespeare in mid journey and then you
1:37:50 launch it
1:37:52 and then it's cool so I can say
1:37:56 um uh let's
1:38:02 see
1:38:07 explain the dance between Art and
1:38:14 Science and then it writes you some
1:38:16 Shakespeare
1:38:17 [ __ ] when man to finest arts or
1:38:20 scientist do cleave his knowledge feeds
1:38:23 the soul while progress we weave the
1:38:26 light of truths through lenses Keen be
1:38:29 drawn as Alchemy and crafts new wonders
1:38:32 spawn yet doth sweet fancy water
1:38:35 learnings root while numbers rhyme and
1:38:38 verse enrich its
1:38:40 [Laughter]
1:38:45 fruit I I gotta get I gotta get some use
1:38:49 to that acting degree man
1:38:53 I got to do it but yeah one of the
1:38:56 reasons that I recommend PO is for the
1:38:58 bot maker I like practice your prompting
1:39:02 like make a bot and then see if you can
1:39:04 see if it behaves consistently see if it
1:39:07 gives you the answers you want and then
1:39:09 if it doesn't experiment and change the
1:39:12 prompt and get it better and get it
1:39:13 better and then share it with friends
1:39:15 hey I made a stupid bot that writes
1:39:17 lyrics like Taylor Swift
1:39:19 great send it to all your Kansas City
1:39:22 Chiefs
1:39:22 [Laughter]
1:39:32 fans oh man swifties did you hear that
1:39:37 Alexa Alexa you could you could say to
1:39:40 Alexa um um when's Taylor's game tonight
1:39:45 on Sunday when when they were playing
1:39:47 the Jets and Alexa would bring up the
1:39:49 information about the football game game
1:39:52 oh my God it's so funny the swifties are
1:39:55 taking over the NFL and they made they
1:39:58 made if you paused um the game they made
1:40:02 the the the shuttle for the for the
1:40:04 timeline for the game was was Taylor's
1:40:07 hands it's
1:40:09 hilarious oh
1:40:11 man um yeah so cuno go make Bots man go
1:40:16 do it go do it go do it do it do it do
1:40:20 it you can do
1:40:23 it where would I find Dolly 3 in my chat
1:40:27 GPT 4 account you're not going to find
1:40:29 it there right now I just happened
1:40:32 to someone tipped me off that there was
1:40:35 a form to fill out and I filled it out
1:40:37 and they gave me access to it as alpha
1:40:40 alpha testing um last night at midnight
1:40:44 that form is now since closed down I
1:40:46 discovered
1:40:50 um judging by like like it it feels a
1:40:54 little incomplete right now as I use it
1:40:57 so and and I also don't know I mean they
1:40:59 have 180 million users chat gbt does so
1:41:04 they're probably going to roll the image
1:41:05 Generation stuff out a little more
1:41:07 slowly just so they don't hose their
1:41:09 their servers but I don't know I don't
1:41:11 know um it looks like they're rolling
1:41:14 out the the other things like they
1:41:15 rolled out access to Bing um tonight and
1:41:20 then I saw a Tik Tok channel right
1:41:22 before I came on here um a CMO woman who
1:41:25 talks about AI stuff and she said
1:41:27 they're rolling out the the vision stuff
1:41:29 where it can see um over the like like
1:41:33 right now they're kind of expanding it
1:41:34 so go check your stuff if you if you
1:41:36 don't see it by the way the other thing
1:41:39 um you should know if you're paying for
1:41:41 chat GPT plus and you don't see plugins
1:41:44 and you don't see Advanced Data analysis
1:41:47 and you don't see browse with Bing go
1:41:49 into your settings and then go into beta
1:41:51 features and you got to turn them on so
1:41:54 one one way you will see them is you
1:41:57 they'll show up there if they're not
1:41:58 there you don't have access to them but
1:42:00 it this will all come I mean as much as
1:42:02 I was bitching about this for the past
1:42:04 three nights and and ranking on Sam
1:42:07 Alman because he was a bad boy and
1:42:09 didn't give me access to the
1:42:13 toys um it's it'll all come it's it it's
1:42:18 it's coming it's coming and and the fact
1:42:21 that we can use Dolly 3 now in bing for
1:42:23 free is awesome the fact that their
1:42:26 servers are overloaded not as
1:42:33 awesome it is the early days we are very
1:42:37 early if you think you're behind you're
1:42:40 not behind if you think everyone knows
1:42:42 more than you do no one knows more than
1:42:45 you
1:42:46 do nobody has a [ __ ] clue right now
1:42:50 how this is going to impact work how
1:42:52 this is how this [ __ ] Works how it's
1:42:54 going to be used what it's going to be
1:42:55 used for the most important thing you
1:42:58 can do the most important thing you can
1:43:00 do right now is get
1:43:03 curious start exploring start playing
1:43:06 there there's literally nothing that you
1:43:08 can do right now that that won't serve
1:43:12 you like like you got a project plan
1:43:15 coming up for work you could spend two
1:43:18 hours writing the project plan or you
1:43:20 could spend two 2 hours trying to figure
1:43:22 out if you can figure out how to get AI
1:43:25 to write the project
1:43:27 plan same two hours same project
1:43:32 plan you know if you spend the two hours
1:43:34 over
1:43:36 here you'll have a project
1:43:40 plan the only thing you know over here
1:43:43 is you might or might not have a project
1:43:46 planned at the end of two hours but you
1:43:48 will have
1:43:49 learned if it's possible to make a
1:43:51 project plan using Ai and chances are
1:43:54 very very very very good that you'll
1:43:57 have a project plan in 15 minutes and
1:43:59 you'll spend the rest of that two hours
1:44:02 refining a way more sophisticated
1:44:06 project plan than you would have created
1:44:08 over here in these two hours is probably
1:44:11 what will happen so what I'm what I'm
1:44:14 trying to flip this [ __ ] thick skull
1:44:18 to do is anytime I have something to do
1:44:22 first think how would I do that in Ai
1:44:25 and go try it it's hard because we've
1:44:28 all got our behaviors and and these
1:44:31 tools are not great right it's very
1:44:33 possible you spend two hours trying to
1:44:34 do your project plan and you realize it
1:44:37 was full of inaccuracies and [ __ ]
1:44:39 and it can't do math and you [ __ ]
1:44:41 hate it and you have to throw it out and
1:44:42 you have to start over but what you
1:44:44 learned was where the boundaries are
1:44:47 today okay it can't do that but in doing
1:44:49 that you probably learned a a bunch of
1:44:51 [ __ ] it can
1:44:52 do and that's where where we all need to
1:44:55 be right now is
1:44:58 is curious
1:45:01 enough to just go [ __ ] it I'm going to
1:45:05 learn and then persistent enough to just
1:45:08 keep trying to figure out where are the
1:45:10 boundaries where are the boundaries
1:45:11 where are the boundaries oh [ __ ] the
1:45:12 boundaries just moved oh it just got
1:45:14 better these
1:45:17 tools today are as bad as they'll ever
1:45:22 be they it only gets better from here so
1:45:26 so if you look at it and you're like wow
1:45:28 it doesn't spell right or that's a
1:45:30 grammatical error it doesn't really do
1:45:32 grammatical errors by the way it's
1:45:34 pretty brilliant at
1:45:36 grammar um but it does lie I like to
1:45:39 call chat GPT mansplaining is a service
1:45:42 like every good man in your life it will
1:45:43 confidently answer you even if it's
1:45:46 wrong
1:45:48 uh that's that's welcome to the AI
1:45:51 learning
1:45:54 lab I like to confidently answer I try
1:45:57 not to be wrong I try to at least be
1:45:59 aware of when I know something or don't
1:46:01 but
1:46:02 whatever
1:46:04 um you should know that about it and
1:46:07 then work around
1:46:09 it because I have never been more
1:46:13 creatively engaged intellectually
1:46:15 engaged more productive for someone with
1:46:19 ADD
1:46:21 my level of productivity in the past
1:46:23 year is like like like no other time in
1:46:27 my life like like oh thank you very much
1:46:29 Sherry
1:46:31 Banks if you're if you're a card
1:46:33 carrying member of the add Club you get
1:46:36 that you can go through bursts right you
1:46:38 do your hyperfocus thing and you can go
1:46:40 through burst where you do
1:46:42 [ __ ] it's very hard for me anyway to
1:46:47 sustain anything right I can do birth
1:46:51 bursts and then I they tend to be sort
1:46:53 of a burst and then there's kind of two
1:46:55 months of nothing and then there's a
1:46:56 burst and there's a month of nothing
1:46:58 there's a burst and there's six months
1:46:59 of nothing I have been consistently
1:47:02 producing
1:47:05 something I'd say on
1:47:07 average like something that I'm I'm
1:47:10 really happy with and something that
1:47:12 would have been a big deal for me before
1:47:15 once a
1:47:16 week I'm just
1:47:18 consistently like I'll go and I'll I'll
1:47:20 be like it's been a while since I've
1:47:21 done something and the immediate thing
1:47:24 that pops in my head is the add thing of
1:47:27 like you're not good enough nobody wants
1:47:29 to hear your [ __ ] you know like all the
1:47:32 the [ __ ] whiny [ __ ]
1:47:36 brain and then I go oh wait I got that
1:47:39 thing I going to chat gbt or I going to
1:47:43 some image generation thing or I going
1:47:44 to it doesn't [ __ ] matter and I go in
1:47:46 and I'm like uh I don't really feel like
1:47:50 doing this but I sort of have a stupid
1:47:52 idea about a dumb idea here and then
1:47:54 it's like oh that's an awesome idea here
1:47:55 let me flesh that out for you you're
1:47:57 like oh
1:47:58 cool it sort of shakes you out of your
1:48:02 your malaise as a
1:48:04 [Laughter]
1:48:07 human so nanu nanu I I am just just uh
1:48:13 20 minutes away from
1:48:16 Boulder joxer the mighty love the name
1:48:19 defi Krypton
1:48:22 Comics what you got against sea turtles
1:48:24 are you a a habitat alist
1:48:28 [Laughter]
1:48:31 exactly I'm a
1:48:33 [Laughter]
1:48:39 totalist how long until I ask my
1:48:41 personal AI to go talk to all corporate
1:48:43 AIS and find me the best price on a
1:48:45 coffee machine that wire cutter ranks
1:48:48 highly um
1:48:51 I think I think you'll have
1:48:55 that I think you'll have I think you'll
1:48:57 have that from
1:48:59 multiple companies
1:49:04 within easily within 18
1:49:08 months I think Apple will come out with
1:49:10 autonomous agents um I think they're
1:49:12 going to be really good they've already
1:49:15 got our data they've already got our
1:49:16 credit cards they're they're private and
1:49:19 safe
1:49:21 um because they're doing all the
1:49:22 encryption on device they're going to do
1:49:24 all their machine learning on device the
1:49:26 15 and The Vision Pro goggles are doing
1:49:29 on device machine learning like a lot of
1:49:31 it and that's going to get better and
1:49:33 better um meta just announced their
1:49:37 their chatty Bots right where you can
1:49:39 have Snoop Dogg be your dungeon master
1:49:42 right so so those are out now or they
1:49:46 were at least announced I haven't played
1:49:47 with them so I don't know if they're out
1:49:49 but they're they're at least announced
1:49:53 so those things will get actions
1:49:55 probably within a year right and once
1:49:58 they have actions what's that mean it
1:50:00 means they can take action so the action
1:50:02 could be hey um go find me the best
1:50:06 price F first first um what are the best
1:50:10 coffee makers and rather than getting
1:50:12 back Google injected [ __ ] ads it
1:50:17 says well here are the here are the
1:50:19 different types of coffee makers
1:50:22 and then you're like oh yeah I like that
1:50:23 one that that brews it really slow okay
1:50:26 here are the you know four different
1:50:27 types of those oh okay I need one that's
1:50:30 small enough to fit on my counter okay
1:50:32 so you don't want these two CU those are
1:50:34 really big ones and those are meant for
1:50:35 big CAF so you want these two types okay
1:50:38 who are companies that make those oh can
1:50:40 I see some of those what are the prices
1:50:42 what are the
1:50:43 reviews and then you you've done all
1:50:45 your research in a in a three minute
1:50:49 conversation and then you're like
1:50:51 awesome go find me the best prices and
1:50:53 you know let me know when you find one
1:50:56 that is 15% below the average of all the
1:51:00 others or the lowest price of all the
1:51:02 others or whatever you know and it'll go
1:51:04 off and [ __ ] do that and then like
1:51:06 you know 3:30 in the afternoon your
1:51:08 little stupid watch will go off and go
1:51:11 pring I bought your coffee thing it'll
1:51:13 be there
1:51:14 tomorrow I think within within a year
1:51:17 and a
1:51:17 half some version of that and I think
1:51:20 from multiple
1:51:23 companies Bing chat's built on top of
1:51:25 chat GPT or on top of gp4 technically
1:51:28 but it's fine-tuned and prompted to
1:51:30 death and back I know Bing is just it's
1:51:33 just [ __ ] useless so so what what
1:51:36 Sam's talking about there Sam Sam Korn
1:51:38 one of the Irregulars awesome dude
1:51:41 um so you have these what they what are
1:51:44 now called Frontier models I used to
1:51:46 call them Foundation models but now they
1:51:47 call them Frontier models because they
1:51:50 wanted to make a a group that was above
1:51:55 people that couldn't afford to make the
1:51:56 kind of models they're making so the
1:51:58 frontier companies are like open AI
1:52:00 Google Facebook apple right the ones if
1:52:04 you can afford 20,000 gpus then you can
1:52:08 be a frontier company if you can't [ __ ]
1:52:12 off so so you have the Frontier Model so
1:52:15 GPT 4 is a Frontier Model GPT 3.5 is a
1:52:19 Frontier Model um llama 2 is a Frontier
1:52:23 Model right so these are the core models
1:52:24 and then you build the application on
1:52:26 top of it so chat GPT chat GPT 4 is a
1:52:32 chat application sitting on top of the
1:52:35 gp4 frontier model and so this is open
1:52:38 AI chat GPT and this is Bing chat and
1:52:42 this one sucks
1:52:45 because as Sam said it's been fine-tuned
1:52:49 and prompted to death and
1:52:55 back so even though they're both gp4
1:52:59 they're not both
1:53:00 gp4
1:53:02 so we'll see we'll see let's
1:53:08 see M CEO warns of nightmare future for
1:53:12 AI if Google search dominance
1:53:17 continues oh Microsoft CEO
1:53:25 well I mean I think it's fascinating
1:53:28 that Google's um penetration and search
1:53:33 is still at
1:53:35 92% um it says a couple of things to me
1:53:37 it says we're still
1:53:39 early I thought that chat GPT
1:53:43 and Microsoft incorporating it into
1:53:46 being would would have pulled at least a
1:53:48 couple of points out of Google's market
1:53:50 share and it
1:53:51 hasn't I'm really curious though if the
1:53:55 volume of search has stayed the same or
1:53:59 if the volume of search has gone down so
1:54:02 so maybe it's that people use whatever
1:54:04 search engine they always use so the
1:54:06 market share stays the same but has the
1:54:08 number of searches gone down it be be
1:54:10 interesting to see those stats I'm sure
1:54:11 they're out there um it's oh thank you
1:54:15 digital Gods I appreciate that I
1:54:17 appreciate all the little goodies you
1:54:19 give me it's so Nast it's so Nast
1:54:24 um the the Microsoft CEO was also
1:54:28 um he was pretty [ __ ] giddy in the
1:54:31 early days of of chat GPT and you know
1:54:35 when when they rolled out Bing
1:54:36 chat um and he basically said I'm
1:54:40 willing to lose money to [ __ ] with
1:54:42 Google
1:54:44 right
1:54:49 um
1:54:52 I don't know as these tools get more as
1:54:54 these tools get more sophisticated I
1:55:00 don't I don't see how I don't see how
1:55:03 chat stays this or how search stays the
1:55:05 same I I think search is going to just
1:55:07 fundamentally shift now Google might
1:55:10 still own it and they and and Google
1:55:13 might you know inject all sorts of ads
1:55:16 into your um chat responses which
1:55:19 they're probably working on
1:55:22 but if they if they [ __ ] it up too much
1:55:25 if it's if it's not good enough and
1:55:26 someone else has got something better
1:55:28 people will shift so I don't know we'll
1:55:30 see it's fascinating
1:55:32 time do I need anything geeky oh that's
1:55:35 the the poot thing we asked before
1:55:38 electronic bill payment um so what do
1:55:41 bots really do um okay so Mary Mary I
1:55:46 don't know if you're still here because
1:55:47 I'm 57 messages behind but let's go
1:55:49 let's let me go show you let me go show
1:55:52 you so so one example was the the
1:55:55 example to write a love letter between a
1:55:58 hedgehog named Larry and a turtle and it
1:56:01 wrote you know it it responded in I Amic
1:56:05 pentameter as if Shakespeare wrote it um
1:56:10 or or explain the dance between Art and
1:56:12 Science and it it wrote that as kind of
1:56:14 the sonnet looking thing but let me let
1:56:16 me show you an example with chat GPT
1:56:19 that I think is I think I think we'll
1:56:21 kind of bring this to life so we're
1:56:24 going to do a new chat I'm going to go
1:56:26 to chat gp4 we're just going to go to
1:56:28 default chat
1:56:31 gp4 and I'm going to type in um let's
1:56:39 see
1:56:40 explain the science
1:56:46 between uh it's not the right words
1:56:49 explain the
1:56:51 science of quantum
1:56:56 mechanics in a way that a fifth grader
1:56:59 can understand
1:57:02 using Turtles hedgehogs and zombies as
1:57:10 metaphors all right kiddo strap in and
1:57:12 let's dive into this wild and Wacky
1:57:15 World of quantum mechanics superp
1:57:17 position the turtle okay
1:57:20 so so it does that right and it and it
1:57:25 did
1:57:26 it okay like like you know all right
1:57:29 kiddo strap in like that seems decent
1:57:31 for a fifth grader so so it's going to
1:57:33 it's going to answer like that but
1:57:36 um one of the things that Chach AP
1:57:42 added a month or two ago was a thing
1:57:44 called custom instructions and so custom
1:57:47 instructions let you
1:57:51 um what did I write here they they let
1:57:54 you modify what what the bot does so so
1:57:59 basically these are instructions that
1:58:01 are going to tell it to behave
1:58:03 differently so so I've got you're the
1:58:05 skipper from Gilligan's
1:58:09 Island well let's try we'll just turn
1:58:11 this one on so so I'll turn it on and
1:58:13 I'll save it so so what did I have I had
1:58:16 um you're the skipper from Gilligan's
1:58:19 Island a character are known for strong
1:58:20 leadership rugged demeanor and the
1:58:22 Perpetual frustration caused by
1:58:23 Gilligan's
1:58:25 Antics and then if Gilligan asks a
1:58:28 question and seeks guidance your
1:58:30 responses are colored by the history of
1:58:32 Gilligan's mishaps for example if G
1:58:34 Gilligan inquires about building a boat
1:58:37 Gilligan remember the last time you
1:58:38 tried that so so we're telling it to act
1:58:40 like the Skipper on Gilligan's Island so
1:58:42 I'm going to take the exact question
1:58:44 that I wrote
1:58:46 before and we're going to create a new
1:58:48 chat and so the new chat is now going to
1:58:50 follow those custom instructions so I'm
1:58:51 going to take that exact same
1:58:54 chat and let's see how it
1:58:57 responds all right Gilligan sit down and
1:59:00 listen carefully now you remember those
1:59:01 Turtles we saw on the other side of the
1:59:03 Island right well let's pretend they're
1:59:05 like tiny particles right so he's
1:59:06 talking to Gilligan like he's an idiot
1:59:09 um so a bot is basically
1:59:14 just this ability to have the
1:59:16 interaction back and forth with with a
1:59:19 different person personality for lack of
1:59:20 a better term a different set of
1:59:22 instructions
1:59:24 now hang on when I switch cameras it it
1:59:27 lags so so let me just pause for a
1:59:29 second for it to
1:59:31 UNL
1:59:34 um if you're kind of new to the world of
1:59:37 AI what's so significant about these
1:59:40 Bots I kind of hate that they're calling
1:59:42 them Bots like chat Bots and things like
1:59:44 that
1:59:45 because we've been told for 15 or 20
1:59:49 years that AI chatbots are going to be
1:59:52 remarkable and then they gave us Alexa
1:59:55 and they gave us Siri and they
1:59:58 suck and why do they suck because you
2:00:01 can't actually talk to them they're not
2:00:03 designed to talk they're designed to
2:00:05 transact right so if you're going to buy
2:00:07 something from Alexa she's awesome if
2:00:10 you want to
2:00:12 understand what is the big deal with
2:00:14 quantum physics she's going to be like
2:00:16 what the [ __ ] are you talking about I
2:00:18 don't I haven't been programmed to do do
2:00:19 that so historically chatbots are logic
2:00:23 trees where they say okay if the person
2:00:26 asks this here's your answers and if
2:00:28 they ask this then here's your answers
2:00:30 and then if they ask something that's
2:00:32 not programmed in it's like yeah I don't
2:00:37 know and that's why they suck and so
2:00:40 with the large language models behind
2:00:42 them you can now have interactions with
2:00:44 them where you can pretty much ask them
2:00:46 anything and if you want to have a good
2:00:48 experience with that or or a a different
2:00:52 experience download the PI app
2:00:59 Pi where is it where do I have my
2:01:03 [Music]
2:01:05 pie so you can go to pi. a or go to the
2:01:09 Apple App
2:01:11 Store and search for Pi Pi personal
2:01:16 assistant the company is inflection
2:01:21 and it's a cute little app and you can
2:01:24 you know type into it but you can also
2:01:26 put it into voice mode so there's a
2:01:28 little phone icon at the in the in the
2:01:30 chat box click the phone
2:01:32 icon and you just start talking to
2:01:36 it and it's connected to the internet
2:01:38 meaning you can ask it about recent
2:01:40 events you can ask it when the next
2:01:41 Taylor Swift football game is and it
2:01:43 will tell
2:01:45 you you you can ask it when Travis Kelce
2:01:49 is going to be famous now that Taylor's
2:01:51 his
2:01:52 girlfriend and it will it it will
2:01:55 interact with you have that
2:01:59 conversation that's Science
2:02:03 Fiction it's like we watch these movies
2:02:07 where the people talk it was never
2:02:10 possible it is now like it it just works
2:02:15 and it's as bad as it's ever going to be
2:02:18 so does it sound does it sound natural
2:02:21 not quite does it um does it
2:02:25 pause too long after you ask it a
2:02:28 question yes it's really awkward like
2:02:30 having a conversation with pi is like
2:02:33 talking to to an introvert whose battery
2:02:35 has run out right and they're just like
2:02:38 you ask him a question and they're just
2:02:39 like I don't want to answer this I don't
2:02:41 want to answer this I don't want to
2:02:42 answer this okay here's the answer it's
2:02:46 like that but that's going to get better
2:02:49 better that company inflection that
2:02:52 makes that silly little app that you can
2:02:54 talk to they just raised 1.3
2:02:59 billion to buy 22,000 gpus they're
2:03:02 spending like $950,000 on 22,000 gpus to
2:03:08 build their own Frontier Model so that
2:03:11 that thing can be the world's best
2:03:14 personal assistant so the person that
2:03:16 was asking before when can I have my
2:03:18 personal assistant go buy me my coffee
2:03:20 maker and get me the best price and just
2:03:22 have it shipped to me that's what that
2:03:24 entire company's about they raised 1.3
2:03:27 billion dollars to build that tool for
2:03:32 you AI is not coming AI is here it's
2:03:37 just no one knows it
2:03:40 yet and it's you know it's it's all
2:03:44 these tools right now are just they're
2:03:46 just pieces of crap right like we have
2:03:49 we have kind of this running inside joke
2:03:52 here that's enough of an inside joke
2:03:55 that one of the Irregulars made
2:03:59 me I got I got to move this later in the
2:04:04 presentation these tools are just janky
2:04:06 pieces of crap right now because we're
2:04:09 so early but they're not going to be
2:04:11 janky for
2:04:13 long every one of these tools that you
2:04:15 use that if it blows your mind if you're
2:04:17 like talking to pie and you're like oh
2:04:19 my God this is [ __ ] remarkable
2:04:24 yeah they're going to get better like
2:04:27 however they are right now like whatever
2:04:28 shortcomings they have right now that
2:04:31 shit's going away and it's going away
2:04:35 [Applause]
2:04:39 quick y'all people the beginning is here
2:04:43 exactly where's that image I got that
2:04:45 image here
2:04:48 somewhere
2:04:50 right all these people running around
2:04:52 going the robots are going to kill us
2:04:54 the end is near the end is near no no
2:04:56 the beginning is
2:05:00 here everything's changed just no one
2:05:02 knows it
2:05:04 yet Everything Has Changed past tense
2:05:07 but no one knows it
2:05:11 yet this is presentation I
2:05:18 gave
2:05:23 [Music]
2:05:24 talking about 19
2:05:28 1994 when I launched an online
2:05:31 magazine so that's a little image of
2:05:34 Time Square and the words down here the
2:05:36 world just changed so in 1994 I learned
2:05:40 enough HTML to put together an online
2:05:43 magazine and I figured out how to upload
2:05:45 these files from my computer in Brooklyn
2:05:47 to some computer in California
2:05:50 and I didn't really know what that meant
2:05:52 I mean I kind of did it was going to be
2:05:54 on the
2:05:55 internet and 3 weeks
2:05:58 later I get a note from someone on a on
2:06:01 a dialup bulletin board system hey Kyle
2:06:04 did you know that Urban desires your
2:06:07 magazine was written up in Liberation
2:06:09 the Parisian News
2:06:12 Daily and I was like
2:06:14 what and so the next Sunday I went down
2:06:17 to Time Square
2:06:20 to the international newsstand and I ran
2:06:23 in and I said where's liberon and they
2:06:26 pointed me there and I buy this
2:06:27 newspaper that's all in French I don't
2:06:29 speak [ __ ] French and I I start
2:06:32 flipping through it I'm in the middle of
2:06:35 Time Square flipping through this
2:06:36 newspaper and sure enough there's a full
2:06:39 page article with pictures of the
2:06:42 website that I built in my apartment in
2:06:44 Brooklyn and uploaded to some computer
2:06:47 in California and is being written about
2:06:49 in
2:06:52 Paris and in that moment I went holy
2:06:56 [ __ ] the world just
2:06:57 changed no one knows it
2:07:00 yet but this is not
2:07:04 normal geography's collapsed time has
2:07:08 collapsed like everything's going to be
2:07:11 instant you're going to be able to
2:07:13 communicate with anyone anywhere in the
2:07:15 world and this is at a time where you
2:07:17 had to have your computer another
2:07:19 computer like the whole idea of the
2:07:21 internet just being there wasn't
2:07:24 there so it took years for the
2:07:29 infrastructure to catch up to what the
2:07:32 worldwide web made possible well guess
2:07:35 what AI is here it's built on Decades of
2:07:39 you know research and Engineering just
2:07:42 like the internet
2:07:43 was except now all the infrastructure is
2:07:46 there we've got no code tools we've got
2:07:48 internet on all the time we've got more
2:07:50 compute power in our stupid [ __ ]
2:07:53 watch than supercomputers had you know
2:07:57 20 years
2:08:02 ago so the world has changed but no one
2:08:05 knows it
2:08:08 yet the beginning is here it's like
2:08:14 yeah
2:08:17 yeah
2:08:19 I think searches have increased just as
2:08:22 facts increase the use of paper that's
2:08:24 interesting did you see Chipotle robot
2:08:26 on YouTube making the early days taco
2:08:29 chips in a taco bowl oh interesting no I
2:08:32 didn't see that well that's the that's
2:08:34 the other thing the other thing that
2:08:35 feels like science fiction is like all
2:08:37 the robots like Elon Musk keeps talking
2:08:40 about his robot and you see Boston
2:08:41 Dynamics and it's you know there's the
2:08:43 dog and the [ __ ] construction robot
2:08:45 and they're dancing and they're doing
2:08:46 all that
2:08:47 [ __ ]
2:08:51 they're sticking chat GPT inside those
2:08:54 things and rather than having to
2:08:56 manually program them to do this and do
2:09:00 that and do that they're throwing
2:09:03 machine learning in there and now they
2:09:06 can talk and now they can read their own
2:09:08 sensors and now they can process what
2:09:10 you said and inquire about their own
2:09:13 sensors you don't need to write code to
2:09:15 pull out the data from their sensors you
2:09:17 can say hey how's your battery doing and
2:09:19 they go oh I'm at 58% I should be good
2:09:23 for a
2:09:26 bit you know Elon musk's goal is to get
2:09:30 the cost of those humanoid robots to 20
2:09:33 grand his goal is to have one or two
2:09:37 robots per human being on
2:09:40 Earth so the the the guy that asked
2:09:43 earlier
2:09:44 um how long before before you know the
2:09:49 the the an agent can order me a coffee
2:09:52 machine and have it you know find me the
2:09:54 cheapest one and have it shipped here um
2:09:57 we're not that far maybe four or five
2:10:00 years from being able to go hey uh hey
2:10:04 Bob that's what I name my robot hey Bob
2:10:08 uh could you run down to the Home Depot
2:10:10 and get me all the [ __ ] I need to make a
2:10:12 little tree fort for my
2:10:15 kid and your robot will walk out to your
2:10:19 car drive to Home Depot go into Home
2:10:23 Depot having constructed the shopping
2:10:25 list know where all the stuff is at Home
2:10:28 Depot go get all the [ __ ] load up your
2:10:30 car bring it home and say would you like
2:10:32 me to build that for
2:10:33 [Laughter]
2:10:37 you we're not that [ __ ] far from that
2:10:40 all right maybe that one's 10
2:10:42 years but we're going to have you know
2:10:45 these things are not just going to be
2:10:47 virtual I love Kyle digital history talk
2:10:51 thank you very much it's just it's it's
2:10:53 just like at some point I'm like I'm old
2:10:55 oh yeah I remember [ __ ]
2:11:00 occasionally voice mod on Pi is
2:11:02 something else yeah it's crazy got a jet
2:11:05 Bigfoot Electro thanks for sharing as
2:11:07 always this has been a mindblowing
2:11:09 stream oh awesome thank you very much
2:11:10 appreciate
2:11:12 that um be right back all right haral
2:11:17 d where is let's see is there anything
2:11:20 going on in here I need to be paying
2:11:21 attention
2:11:23 to little pit stop at the story yes I'm
2:11:27 an
2:11:29 adult
2:11:31 sweet that's very cool Herod D
2:11:37 um the normal pill or The Irregular pill
2:11:41 that's
2:11:43 awesome this is this is from jrc in the
2:11:47 Irregulars
2:11:51 this is it this is this this is I I
2:11:54 think you know other than my my [ __ ]
2:11:57 stunning
2:11:59 personality I think that one of the
2:12:03 reasons people are starting to hang out
2:12:06 in here and one of the reasons I'm
2:12:08 taking it so funny I told someone
2:12:10 tonight they're like I saw you had
2:12:12 28,000 followers on Tik Tok and I was
2:12:15 like oh yeah like it's just happening
2:12:17 and I said I said I've been spending
2:12:19 like 3 hours every night going live on
2:12:22 Tik Tok and she goes that's a lot of
2:12:27 time and it's and I it is and at the
2:12:31 same time I feel like it's really
2:12:32 important and I think one of the reasons
2:12:34 the Irregulars show up here
2:12:37 is it it it's kind of a matrix kind of
2:12:40 moment right like you
2:12:43 can you can sit on the sidelines with AI
2:12:46 right and you can go yeah it's it's what
2:12:49 it's it's like it's like a fancy Google
2:12:50 shirt yeah whatever I you know it steals
2:12:52 from people I know it's whatever I yeah
2:12:54 you can dismiss it and you can you can
2:12:57 demonize it and say well the robots are
2:12:59 going to kill us so I'm a conscientious
2:13:01 objector I'm not going to deal with
2:13:04 AI
2:13:07 um and then what happens is you try it
2:13:11 you take the red
2:13:13 pill and you have what what we call
2:13:16 lovingly in here your Kevin mallister
2:13:18 moment right your home alone
2:13:21 moment and you can't go back from it the
2:13:25 the because it's it's not just if you
2:13:28 watch chat GPT write a poem or write a
2:13:30 business plan or write a whatever it's
2:13:32 impressive but it's it's when
2:13:35 you have chat GPT or one of these
2:13:39 tools do something that you know
2:13:43 about well I'm I'm really good at
2:13:45 Mesopotamian history so
2:13:48 let's just see what little chat GPT
2:13:51 knows about Mesopotamian
2:13:54 history oh
2:13:56 [ __ ] like like that's the moment where
2:13:59 you
2:14:00 realize this is not the same as a Google
2:14:02 search this is not like anything I've
2:14:05 ever seen before and the minute you have
2:14:07 that
2:14:09 moment then you just start to go through
2:14:12 these cycles of well what does that
2:14:13 [ __ ] mean wait what does that mean
2:14:15 for my job my entire value is based on
2:14:18 knowing Mesopotamian history and now
2:14:22 that's been
2:14:23 democratized as has every other piece of
2:14:26 knowledge work every
2:14:29 piece from creative production to
2:14:33 corporate thinky
2:14:35 [ __ ]
2:14:36 to to project management all of it has
2:14:40 been
2:14:42 democratized the 20 years you've spent
2:14:44 getting really good at that one thing
2:14:47 lots of people going to be good at that
2:14:49 thing now now are they going to be as
2:14:50 good as you at your 20 years no but are
2:14:54 they going to be as good as you were at
2:14:56 year five
2:15:00 uh-huh and what does that mean
2:15:03 well most jobs don't require the 20
2:15:06 years of experience they just require
2:15:08 are you like are you good enough to get
2:15:10 it done yeah okay you're hired
2:15:14 right so now that job goes to someone
2:15:17 who is is n qualified to do that job and
2:15:20 yet suddenly now they
2:15:23 are so I think why we hang out in here
2:15:26 is like what the what the
2:15:31 [ __ ] what do you do with that
2:15:33 information once you have it and then
2:15:36 when you try to tell people you're like
2:15:39 um you're a copywriter um
2:15:43 listen great uh I'm sure you're good
2:15:47 listen uh there there's this thing you
2:15:49 need to know about and you know I think
2:15:50 copywriters are decently aware of this
2:15:52 at this point cuz it's it's such a
2:15:55 direct threat to their livelihood right
2:16:00 now and and then and then what
2:16:02 invariably happens is you go through
2:16:04 these weird cycles of optimism and and
2:16:07 you know
2:16:09 Panic where you're like oh this is
2:16:12 really good and I've got these new
2:16:13 skills and I can and then you're like oh
2:16:15 but like that's going to change
2:16:16 everything and like that job might not
2:16:18 even exist anymore and what what do I do
2:16:20 with my life if that job doesn't exist I
2:16:23 don't
2:16:23 know but you can probably do some [ __ ]
2:16:26 that you couldn't have done before
2:16:28 because these tools let you do
2:16:32 that so
2:16:34 anyway red pill blue pill now is the
2:16:38 time now is the
2:16:47 time
2:16:48 D I totally share with my fellow
2:16:51 Irregulars heral D this is the moment in
2:16:54 time where we can really have the chance
2:16:56 to change people's lives and I'll do
2:16:59 that in any way I can and that's that's
2:17:01 what I'm doing here the Irregulars that
2:17:04 are are kind of showing up to say hey
2:17:06 how can I help you know they come in
2:17:07 here and they mod for me which I
2:17:09 appreciate by the way thank you I don't
2:17:10 think I've thanked you in a day or two
2:17:13 for for the the mod help that you do um
2:17:16 it really makes a difference so thank
2:17:17 you for that
2:17:21 um you know why I why I talk to people
2:17:24 about you know not only get curious
2:17:27 about this stuff not only get you know
2:17:30 adventurous but talk about it tell
2:17:34 people what you're learning tell people
2:17:36 what are good about these things tell
2:17:37 people what are bad about these
2:17:39 things why cuz I don't know people need
2:17:43 to
2:17:45 know it's going to benefit you it's
2:17:47 going to benefit
2:17:49 them you sound like a cult
2:17:52 maybe but I just you know having been
2:17:55 through this before with the worldwide
2:17:57 web it might be a cult but at some point
2:18:00 those people do you know that video here
2:18:02 let's go watch a video together let me
2:18:04 see if I can find
2:18:07 it this this is about this this is
2:18:10 what's about to
2:18:12 happen and no this is not the I like
2:18:14 turtles kid but I can find him
2:18:17 too
2:18:32 um yeah this
2:18:34 guy an insatiable hunger
2:18:39 [Music]
2:18:44 yearning see that [ __ ]
2:18:47 weirdo if you haven't seen this video
2:18:49 before this [ __ ] awesome so right
2:18:52 now that's the Irregulars that's the
2:18:57 Irregulars [ __ ] weirdos on a hill
2:18:59 talking about AI oh AI That's amazing I
2:19:02 have you tried the pill have you tried
2:19:03 the pill woo and everyone else is
2:19:06 looking at at them going what [ __ ]
2:19:09 weirdos I'm glad I'm not one of
2:19:11 them [ __ ] weirdos talking about AI
2:19:14 all the
2:19:16 time what's I don't I
2:19:18 like is he is he even running his
2:19:20 company all he does he he goes on Tik
2:19:22 Tok every night and he talks about
2:19:24 [ __ ] Ai and he just he's just like an
2:19:26 idiot just rambling oh here's another
2:19:28 guy hey can I be part of your regulars
2:19:30 Club how do I get into the Discord can
2:19:32 you let me into your little
2:19:37 Channel this is where we are in the
2:19:39 industry right now like right right
2:19:41 we're like we're probably just entering
2:19:43 we're probably just like the third or
2:19:44 fourth now look now there's
2:19:46 five
2:19:50 now the people on the Hill are like oh
2:19:52 wait a minute it kind of looks like
2:19:53 they're having fun over there I want to
2:19:55 get in on
2:20:00 this right exactly
2:20:04 cuno this is what's coming yeah and I I
2:20:08 don't want to miss
2:20:09 it let me dance with
2:20:12 you who's the [ __ ] weirdo now the
2:20:16 people that are still sitting down
2:20:19 [Music]
2:20:23 right [ __ ]
2:20:33 party I mean there's so much here
2:20:35 there's so much about sociology and
2:20:37 psychology and all that sort of stuff
2:20:38 but this is we we
2:20:42 are past that
2:20:46 point but
2:20:48 man
2:20:50 probably probably with the third
2:20:53 guy when the fat dude shows
2:20:56 up see those guys been going for a while
2:20:59 Paul rer is one of those guys there's
2:21:02 the fat dude
2:21:03 right those three that's where we are in
2:21:06 the industry right
2:21:08 now and then where is it by the end look
2:21:12 at this this is by the
2:21:14 end the entire Hill is a dance
2:21:18 [Applause]
2:21:23 party so when I talk about there being
2:21:25 opportunity
2:21:27 here if you're one of if you're one of
2:21:29 these dudes you
2:21:36 [Applause]
2:21:38 [Laughter]
2:21:44 know be [ __ ] weird the beginning
2:21:47 beginning is
2:21:49 here talk about this
2:21:53 [ __ ] but my husband thinks I'm weird
2:21:56 [ __ ]
2:21:59 him he won't think you're weird when he
2:22:01 gets laid off cuz someone who knew AI
2:22:03 came in and did his job better than
2:22:11 him my company doesn't allow us to use
2:22:13 this stuff okay then [ __ ] do it on
2:22:15 weekends tell your friends about it tell
2:22:17 your people at the office about it I
2:22:19 mean I mean we in in the past week um um
2:22:24 lunatick and cuno and um one other
2:22:27 person this week in here because they've
2:22:30 been talking about it at work have had
2:22:34 opportunities like literally placed in
2:22:36 their
2:22:39 lap do the people think they're weird
2:22:41 yeah the people sitting on the hill they
2:22:43 think they're weird
2:22:45 yep and then at some point the boss is
2:22:48 gonna go
2:22:50 um yeah we need to learn about this
2:22:54 dancing
2:22:56 thing this dancing to the music thing we
2:23:00 thought we were just supposed to sit
2:23:01 here and listen to music but couple of
2:23:03 weirdos over there apparently we're
2:23:05 supposed to be getting up and dancing to
2:23:06 the music find out more about that write
2:23:09 me up a report I want to know everything
2:23:11 there is to know about
2:23:13 it guess who they come to the people
2:23:16 dancing on the hill
2:23:20 be a [ __ ]
2:23:26 weirdo you
2:23:28 know this is this was Steve Jobs thing
2:23:31 you know the different
2:23:32 campaign once you try it and realize its
2:23:35 capabilities you're hooked I know
2:23:37 another one thank you for the ruse I
2:23:39 appreciate the ruse the ruse the ruse
2:23:42 and if you know if if you're finding
2:23:44 this amusing I mean follow the channel
2:23:48 follow hang
2:23:51 out you know what's even better come
2:23:54 back here like especially if you're if
2:23:56 you're new to this and you're just like
2:23:57 you were you know flicking along you're
2:23:59 like is that Rosie
2:24:01 odonnell and you just stumbled in
2:24:04 here go play with chat GPT and come back
2:24:08 in a day or two and tell us what you
2:24:13 learned why why not wsn radio Hard Rock
2:24:19 hip hop traffic on the
2:24:22 nines my name's cam katkin good to see
2:24:25 you fantastic Bob tell him what he's
2:24:28 won you can make money
2:24:32 [Laughter]
2:24:35 with uh corporate thinky
2:24:37 [ __ ]
2:24:42 exactly ADHD powered by creative chaos
2:24:46 nice
2:24:47 [Laughter]
2:24:52 uh uh Herod I'm going to have you share
2:24:55 your career story next Tuesday at the
2:25:00 salon
2:25:01 so yeah I'm excited I'll reach out to
2:25:04 you we'll connect this week we'll figure
2:25:06 out what what to talk
2:25:09 about good I asked my son's teachers if
2:25:12 he could use AI because I believe it's
2:25:14 the tool he'll use in the future in his
2:25:17 future what' they say Mindy like
2:25:21 inquiring minds want to know first off
2:25:23 how old is he like what grade's he in
2:25:25 and what did they say what did they
2:25:28 say I just I I spoke at a a college here
2:25:32 in in Denver um like three weeks
2:25:36 ago a public policy
2:25:40 school and like like worse than them
2:25:44 having a policy against it which that
2:25:48 that I at least respect where they're
2:25:49 like we don't want anything to change so
2:25:52 so we're going to block chat
2:25:54 GPT um no one can cheat with no one can
2:25:57 use a calculator to do math in our
2:25:59 school we would never allow
2:26:02 that at least that's a point of view
2:26:05 this school they're like yeah we don't
2:26:06 really talk about
2:26:08 it
2:26:12 what aren't you going to train people
2:26:14 for the next four years do you have any
2:26:17 sense what the world's going to look
2:26:18 like in four [ __ ] years with these
2:26:20 tools rolling at the speed they're
2:26:22 rolling it's going to be
2:26:47 the same as a calculator yeah I mean my
2:26:51 my advice for your son is just you know
2:26:55 um start talking about it find
2:26:58 professors or if he's in high school
2:27:00 find teachers that are open to it that
2:27:03 are willing to experiment with it you
2:27:05 know hang out with them hang out with
2:27:07 other students that are doing this like
2:27:10 get involved in if he's decently geeky
2:27:12 have him get involved in open- Source
2:27:14 projects like Lang chain or some of the
2:27:17 AGI stuff that David Shapiro is doing
2:27:20 just have him start geeking out on it
2:27:23 and and like he can do anything like
2:27:25 like I I I am increasingly of the mind
2:27:29 that it doesn't [ __ ] matter what you
2:27:31 do you can Mo do the most frivolous
2:27:33 thing in AI um I don't know make a like
2:27:39 like we sort of jokingly you know talk
2:27:41 about the zombie and the turtle kit like
2:27:43 make a [ __ ] book about
2:27:45 zombies like
2:27:48 nothing that you do right now is a waste
2:27:50 of time because you're learning what
2:27:52 these tools can do and where the
2:27:53 boundaries are so it's like it it just
2:27:55 it doesn't matter but he can't wait for
2:27:59 them to get their [ __ ] together because
2:28:01 they're not they're going to be like the
2:28:04 the people sitting on the hill right
2:28:07 when when like half the hill is emptied
2:28:09 off and it's clear that the dance
2:28:11 parties over there and there were still
2:28:13 people sitting on the hill that's going
2:28:14 to be education a lot of these
2:28:16 institutions and big corporations are
2:28:18 going to be sitting on the hill like ah
2:28:19 we got a couple of years we're good I
2:28:21 don't I don't like to move you know I
2:28:24 put on a few pounds yeah since the kids
2:28:26 went away you know just sit on the hill
2:28:29 right here we're good you know and
2:28:33 they're going to wear good themselves
2:28:34 out of
2:28:36 existence it's cuckoo man AI Rave
2:28:39 exactly what a metaphor thank
2:28:43 you I mean it
2:28:46 but it's it's funny you know
2:28:50 it I'll like I'll I'll run into people
2:28:53 that that you know I I'm the one that
2:28:56 probably you know gave them the red pill
2:28:58 and said here try this and they come
2:29:00 back and they're like Kyle like I I'm
2:29:03 like I can't stop thinking about AI I
2:29:06 can't sleep anymore but like everyone I
2:29:08 talk to about it is either pissed off
2:29:10 about it or doesn't want anything to do
2:29:13 with it and I hear it I hear it
2:29:15 consistently and I I'm I'm like I'm I'm
2:29:18 still blown away that that's going on
2:29:20 but like it's just human nature
2:29:24 right Hollywood taught us that the
2:29:26 robots are going to kill us so we're
2:29:27 already predisposed to be afraid of the
2:29:32 [ __ ] in wait in Diamond age education is
2:29:35 centered around a book that adapts to
2:29:38 each child's needs yes offering them the
2:29:41 exact knowledge they need wait oh come
2:29:44 on Tik Tok God damn it when they open
2:29:48 it I wrote I wrote an Article 2 months
2:29:51 ago called We're entering the era of
2:29:53 hyper-personalization I think that's
2:29:56 absolutely
2:29:59 right
2:30:05 Herod he made the zombie kid into a
2:30:08 turtle that's sacrilege you can't do
2:30:12 that and by the way his hair looks too
2:30:14 much like mine I I I feel slighted
2:30:17 I resemble that
2:30:19 remark that's [ __ ]
2:30:24 hilarious oh man yeah like like
2:30:30 yes I
2:30:35 mean if the
2:30:39 kids a big part of Education right now
2:30:43 is getting kids prepared for
2:30:49 specialization right you're going to
2:30:52 you're going to major in this you're
2:30:54 going to specialize in this and we're
2:30:56 going to start you if we get you good
2:30:59 we're going to get you excited about
2:31:01 that when you're in third grade that one
2:31:03 thing you what do you want to be when
2:31:05 you grow
2:31:06 up I want to be a fireman oh okay but
2:31:09 you know you sure there's not a science
2:31:11 in there somewhere you want to oh okay
2:31:14 yeah I want to study okay you're going
2:31:16 to go into astrophysics Perfect all
2:31:18 right fourth grade
2:31:21 perfect who are your
2:31:23 Heroes Neil degrass Tyson awesome okay
2:31:26 you're on your way so you're going to
2:31:27 specialize in that that's good and we're
2:31:29 going to keep you on that track right
2:31:30 and you're going to [ __ ] run on that
2:31:32 track for 30
2:31:37 years and you're and we're now entering
2:31:40 a world
2:31:42 where that specialization is getting
2:31:45 democratized
2:31:49 that if I can you imagine here here's an
2:31:52 exercise you you want to [ __ ] with your
2:31:54 own
2:31:55 brain commit that for the next
2:31:59 month you're going to pick something you
2:32:01 know nothing about and maybe even don't
2:32:04 even have an interest
2:32:05 [Laughter]
2:32:06 in string theory I don't
2:32:10 whatever um Bonsai gardening can you
2:32:14 imagine if you spent the next month in
2:32:17 all of your free time using AI whatever
2:32:22 tool you find that's appropriate whether
2:32:25 it's chat GPT or whatever image
2:32:27 generation tools and you spend a month
2:32:29 going deep on a single subject using
2:32:33 AI I bet I I bet that in a month you
2:32:37 could get to a level of knowledge about
2:32:40 that topic that
2:32:42 is two and a half three years of
2:32:45 school
2:32:49 and depending on what you pick I mean if
2:32:51 it's something like a musical instrument
2:32:53 where where there's a dexterity thing
2:32:54 like that that requires a lot of a lot
2:32:56 of years but the music theory part of
2:32:59 that you could probably get really deep
2:33:02 really
2:33:04 quick I mean that would be an
2:33:06 interesting thing just just as a
2:33:08 personal experiment like what what
2:33:12 new completely new job could I do
2:33:16 through 30 days from
2:33:20 now the A I L L J Term exactly just
2:33:24 [ __ ] pick something and
2:33:29 go I Mi zombie kid with a
2:33:32 turtle you [ __ ] weirdo you're a
2:33:35 weirdo I like it it's exactly way I like
2:33:38 it oh that's why I can't pin it what why
2:33:42 why can't you pin
2:33:43 it exactly don't hold my kid back yeah
2:33:48 like like your
2:33:50 kid I here's the here's the most here's
2:33:53 the most critical skill I think for any
2:33:56 child
2:33:57 today is critical thinking the ability
2:34:00 to look at something go is that good or
2:34:02 is that bad can I make that better
2:34:04 what's wrong with that can I fix it that
2:34:07 mindset is the only skill that's going
2:34:10 to be
2:34:11 necessary 5 years out 10 years
2:34:15 out
2:34:18 well not the only skill but but the
2:34:20 prerequisite skill is you're going to
2:34:21 have
2:34:22 to you're going to have to be good at
2:34:26 thinking
2:34:29 horizontally you know they used to talk
2:34:30 about a t-shaped personality right you
2:34:33 could dig deep on this subject but you
2:34:36 could think across a lot
2:34:38 here I think the the requirement for the
2:34:41 tea starts to go starts to go away the
2:34:45 requirement for it you can choose to go
2:34:46 deep in something but the requirement
2:34:49 for it you have to go deep in this
2:34:53 subject because it's it's too much for
2:34:56 anyone to know without putting in 20
2:34:58 years work well not
2:35:06 anymore I don't know how I sleep at
2:35:08 night like I get myself all [ __ ]
2:35:10 wound up on these
2:35:14 things we're all weird here I know it's
2:35:18 so true can you become a professional
2:35:20 artist in 5 months yeah ex yes yes
2:35:25 yes one of the one of the guys in the in
2:35:28 the AI Salon is
2:35:30 uh is uh he's doing an art project and
2:35:34 he just the way he thinks about
2:35:36 prompting and his art project is so good
2:35:39 and he and he's using AI but it's like
2:35:42 the the results like I like he's just
2:35:44 thinking he's thinking about it like an
2:35:46 artist and like when when artists
2:35:48 Embrace this technology they just do it
2:35:51 different it's so cool um let me I I
2:35:55 just realized I've got so
2:35:58 tomorrow is the first night of a
2:36:00 workshop that I'm doing I got invited by
2:36:03 another
2:36:07 Creator I just want to put this out
2:36:09 there because I just realized like it's
2:36:10 tomorrow night um so I'm starting a a
2:36:15 three-part Workshop tomorrow called the
2:36:17 AI Launchpad for
2:36:18 creatives um with with a woman named
2:36:21 Ronda Phillips so it's she's marketing
2:36:23 it to her
2:36:25 community um but it's a it's a
2:36:28 three-part workshop two hours a week
2:36:31 apart so October 4th 11th and 18th so
2:36:34 it's tomorrow night and you can go to
2:36:36 rondos voice.com events and see what it
2:36:39 is the first one's going to be an
2:36:41 overview on AI and and like a lot of
2:36:43 stuff we talk about in here but like
2:36:45 kind of going through it system atically
2:36:46 and and and digging through how to think
2:36:49 about Ai and I and I'm trying to strike
2:36:52 a balance between giving tactical like
2:36:55 here's how to do prompting but not like
2:36:57 here's the prompt book Because The
2:37:00 Prompt book that's good today is going
2:37:02 to be a piece of [ __ ] six months from
2:37:04 now because the tools will have changed
2:37:06 so what I'm trying to teach is kind of
2:37:08 this combination of critical thinking
2:37:10 and Hands-On stuff so anyway if that's
2:37:13 something you'd be interested in check
2:37:15 check that out um for those of you that
2:37:17 have have stumbled in here late at night
2:37:21 going who the [ __ ] is this what is this
2:37:24 Insanity um if you haven't played with
2:37:27 chat
2:37:28 GPT um just go there right now chat.
2:37:31 open.com that's the official chat GPT
2:37:34 website um the other ones are these are
2:37:37 the top four that that I think are
2:37:39 important um now and for sometime in the
2:37:43 future um chat GPT in particular has
2:37:46 launched a bunch of new um Technologies
2:37:49 in the past two weeks and they're going
2:37:52 to be rolling them out over the next
2:37:54 probably month um that really
2:37:58 change even more what it can do um Bard
2:38:02 is Google's thing they're coming out
2:38:04 with Gemini soon and that's going to be
2:38:06 pretty remarkable Claude just got a $4
2:38:08 billion investment from Amazon you know
2:38:11 chat GPT got 10 billion from Microsoft
2:38:14 Google's Google Claude just got 4
2:38:16 billion from Amazon and then Bing is
2:38:18 Microsoft right so the these are kind of
2:38:21 the major players right
2:38:23 now um so go go go play with them um my
2:38:28 phone is telling me to go to
2:38:33 bed uh the beginning is near people
2:38:43 the a thought AI may fall hold in
2:38:46 personalized data mining to the
2:38:48 output I've not developed this yet um
2:38:52 personalized data mining to the output
2:38:55 yeah I think I think I think that's
2:38:58 right and I think that
2:39:02 uh the implications of that one tonius
2:39:05 are really cool
2:39:12 because so we just had the SAG well we
2:39:14 still have the SAG strike the writer
2:39:16 strike just ended but but one of the
2:39:18 things that they both struck for was
2:39:20 they realized
2:39:23 that if they
2:39:25 don't
2:39:27 take if they don't take the leverage
2:39:30 that they've got
2:39:32 today and get a good contract they're
2:39:35 not going to have any leverage tomorrow
2:39:37 that's what they realized it's it's a
2:39:39 big part of the AI part of their
2:39:43 strike and in the case of
2:39:46 acting and writing and you know Arts
2:39:49 that are like that much about
2:39:51 intellectual property it makes perfect
2:39:52 sense right you you you understand the
2:39:54 value of your
2:39:57 contribution of art right because it's
2:40:00 cuz that's the business the business is
2:40:01 create this
2:40:03 artifact that other people are going to
2:40:05 make money on and make sure that you do
2:40:08 that in such a way that you get to
2:40:09 participate in the money that gets
2:40:12 made and I think that the
2:40:17 what tonius is talking about about
2:40:19 folding in personal data mining into
2:40:22 these AI tools
2:40:24 is I'm 58 and I've been on the internet
2:40:29 in some form or other since I don't know
2:40:32 whenever whenever it was around right
2:40:34 been on computers for a long time and
2:40:37 then whenever the internet showed up
2:40:38 I've been putting [ __ ] on it and I've
2:40:39 been putting [ __ ] on
2:40:41 computers and so we all have these
2:40:44 insane digital footprint prints you
2:40:47 know I got boxes of hard drives
2:40:51 here just right behind me right down
2:40:54 there you can't see it but there's a big
2:40:55 suitcase full of hard drives I've got
2:40:58 all the [ __ ] I put on flicker when it
2:41:00 was a thing and I got all the [ __ ] that
2:41:02 I put on whatever blog that I started
2:41:04 and had a brain fart on and didn't
2:41:06 finish over there and I've got all the
2:41:08 stuff I've got for Story vine I got all
2:41:09 the stuff I had for agency.com right all
2:41:11 that shit's out
2:41:13 there well
2:41:16 all of a sudden these tools are going to
2:41:19 make it relatively trivial if not
2:41:22 completely trivial to just go find all
2:41:25 that [ __ ] and make it chat GPT so
2:41:29 imagine being able to chat GPT not just
2:41:32 with the knowledge of all of the
2:41:33 internet but with the knowledge of your
2:41:37 internet and you're going to be like oh
2:41:40 [ __ ] been on the internet since IRC yeah
2:41:43 IRC all those things yeah exactly
2:41:46 exactly
2:41:50 um and I think what's going to happen is
2:41:53 more and more people are going to
2:41:55 realize the value that they've created
2:41:58 over their lifetime that can now be
2:42:01 mined and they're going to mine it for
2:42:03 themselves but what they're going to
2:42:05 realize is oh that book I started is
2:42:07 actually a really good book maybe I
2:42:09 should finish that now I've got tools to
2:42:11 help me do that and and oh that that
2:42:14 that idea I had at work is is really
2:42:17 valuable but but now work owns that and
2:42:19 I think I think the implication is that
2:42:23 over the next
2:42:25 decade people are are going to be
2:42:27 increasingly aware of the value of their
2:42:31 of of what they have created and how
2:42:34 that can be
2:42:36 leveraged and they're going to
2:42:38 start
2:42:42 demanding
2:42:44 um a piece of the pie right so instead
2:42:47 of just working for the company and
2:42:49 saying any thought that I have is the is
2:42:53 the property of the companies well
2:42:55 historically the company couldn't really
2:42:57 do a ton with that because most data
2:42:59 just gets dumped on hard drives and then
2:43:00 it's dead well now that you dump this
2:43:04 data into the machine and you can pull
2:43:06 it back out and manipulate it in all
2:43:08 sorts of amazing
2:43:09 ways I think people are going to start
2:43:12 going wait I've got value here so
2:43:13 imagine employment contracts that are
2:43:16 now centered around individuals and and
2:43:19 their the combination of their
2:43:21 historical output their future output
2:43:24 and the people that they're associated
2:43:27 with the networks that they
2:43:29 have and so so so I think the
2:43:33 implications of personal data mining are
2:43:35 an acute awareness of everyone's
2:43:39 individual power that they can start to
2:43:42 wield in employment
2:43:44 situations so think like mini little
2:43:47 strikes like if you want to work with me
2:43:49 you got to work on my terms because I
2:43:52 want to be able to take all these ideas
2:43:55 I have and all these interesting people
2:43:56 I know and all these interesting
2:43:58 whatevers that I have that the machine
2:44:01 can
2:44:03 leverage and and you can rent some of
2:44:06 that power but you know it it stays in
2:44:10 my Orbit as we move forward so I don't
2:44:14 know I don't know if I was articul on
2:44:16 that but that just feels feels the way
2:44:19 we're going I'm not just a robot I have
2:44:22 the photos goodbye that's
2:44:28 good IRC Internet relay chat was what
2:44:31 IRC was called it was a text based um if
2:44:36 if if you're old enough to remember AOL
2:44:38 or or just it was like
2:44:40 Facebook except it was text only and you
2:44:42 had to dial into you you would dial di
2:44:46 your your computer into someone else's
2:44:48 Internet relay chat server and you could
2:44:50 you could basically have realtime chats
2:44:53 but it was just wonky and horrible there
2:44:55 was all sorts of there was yeah just all
2:44:58 sorts of these command line the internet
2:44:59 was command line so you know how in mid
2:45:01 Journey right now you have to type
2:45:03 command
2:45:05 lines functions to get it to make
2:45:09 images yeah that's how the internet used
2:45:11 to be I met my first girlfriend that was
2:45:14 a man on
2:45:17 IRC my first night on the
2:45:20 internet yeah man cat fishing's been
2:45:23 around for a
2:45:25 [Laughter]
2:45:26 while oh I have a here's a here's a fun
2:45:29 catfishing kind of thing now I gotta
2:45:32 go I've been thinking about so there's
2:45:35 going to be there's there's already the
2:45:36 sort of catfishing of like people don't
2:45:38 look like what they look like right they
2:45:40 they do their they fancify themselves
2:45:42 and make themselves look better than
2:45:44 they look
2:45:46 but so imagine you're having a
2:45:48 conversation with someone and you know
2:45:52 they just seem to say all the right
2:45:53 things and they're they're really good
2:45:55 at this conversation kind of thing and
2:45:57 then you're going to meet them and
2:45:59 you're going to be like who the [ __ ] is
2:46:01 this they they won't be able to talk
2:46:03 good you're like they don't make eye
2:46:05 contact like they were so empathetic and
2:46:08 they were so good at
2:46:11 life and it's just going to be they're
2:46:13 going to be using chat GPT or the
2:46:15 equivalent of it as a conversation
2:46:19 crutch and then you're going to meet him
2:46:21 in person and you're going to get
2:46:22 catfished not only by how they look but
2:46:24 how they [ __ ]
2:46:26 talk it's like God damn it uh I feel
2:46:30 your passion I'm way behind uh but
2:46:33 you've brought me the inspiration oh
2:46:35 thank you very much KGB solar listen I
2:46:38 you're not as behind as you think you
2:46:41 really you really aren't you really
2:46:42 aren't
2:46:43 it's it's it's it's very easy to get
2:46:46 seduced right now into thinking that
2:46:48 everyone knows more than you do and I
2:46:49 can promise you that they don't they
2:46:51 they
2:46:53 don't and it's you know there will be a
2:46:56 Tipping Point but this I talked about
2:46:58 this last night
2:47:02 where every new kind of movement of
2:47:05 Technology whether it's the worldwide
2:47:07 web or the personal computer or the
2:47:09 steam engine or whatever it starts out
2:47:11 very
2:47:11 small and then if it's one of those
2:47:14 Technologies that truly changes things
2:47:17 it gets bigger and bigger and bigger
2:47:18 right it gets this adoption curve where
2:47:20 more and more of society is using more
2:47:22 and more of that
2:47:26 technology as much as people are talking
2:47:29 about Ai and as hyped as it seems right
2:47:31 now it is like whisper thin in terms of
2:47:36 its adoption in terms of its capability
2:47:40 in terms of any of it and so you know if
2:47:44 I started down down here and you're
2:47:46 starting here we're we're still in like
2:47:50 the the the center of the tree that over
2:47:54 the next 5 years is going to do this
2:47:56 right so anywhere in here is fine and
2:48:00 like I would argue that we're probably
2:48:02 you know probably lower to center of
2:48:05 this part of the the phase of of where
2:48:08 this
2:48:09 is and then it will do that so the
2:48:13 opportunity right now the beginning is
2:48:15 here like we were at the beginning of
2:48:17 this thing so
2:48:19 anyway all right let me let me jump to
2:48:21 the bottom here I know I missed a bunch
2:48:23 of comments tonight cuz I was Nor
2:48:26 normally well I don't know I don't know
2:48:28 what's normal in here anymore it's kind
2:48:29 of changing a bit but um I try to answer
2:48:32 as many of the comments as I
2:48:35 can
2:48:36 um yeah thank you uh KGB solar
2:48:42 um yeah no I like hanging out with with
2:48:45 y'all this is this is fun it's it's
