35. 8:45um empathy is good um as a as an ADHD I tend to over index an empath empathy which ain't ain't super healthy but
36. 9:00[Music] understanding how people tick and understanding how to connect with people is
37. 9:16oddly some of the best practices for prompting a large language model those people that are better at the human
38. 9:26skills are really good with this stuff so it's an area you can practice and what's cool about large language models
39. 9:34is you can practice it on the large language models and I think I think maybe one of the other things we'll do

45. 10:42clear to me is that having a system that will respond to you essentially as quickly as a human being does and having a system that
46. 10:56understands your emotions and can respond in kind is [ __ ] it's going to change things and especially when it can do
47. 11:12things like look at what you're doing and interact with that as well you know is this is this a good bottle of wine right things like that

51. 12:06uh AI demonstrations I'll answer questions I will pontificate philosophically about what's going on with AI like for
52. 12:18example there's a bunch of AI doomers out there talking about how the AI hype bubble has burst and we're on the decline
53. 12:29and and AI has plateaued and it will never get any better what's amazing is a lot of these are people who've been on the planet
54. 12:42long enough to know but better I mean if you invest trillions of [Music] dollars
55. 12:58into into a category and refocus all of the world's engineering Talent toward that one thing and it's already [ __ ]
56. 13:12remarkable and an 800 person company essentially is challenging a 200,000 person company that's open Ai and [Music]
57. 13:26Google you don't think some shit's coming and if you're sitting if we're sitting in a in a state of the industry where
58. 13:3940% of Americans haven't even heard of chat GPT and less than 2% of Americans have used chat gbt for more than an [Music]
59. 13:55hour so that means you know half a percent of people know have even a hint of how powerful this [ __ ]
60. 14:10is you don't think when that number goes from half a percent to 20% some [ __ ] ain't going to happen and that'll coincide with the
61. 14:22technology getting better and it'll coincide with the this new chat voice model being good enough that people can just talk to [Music]
62. 14:38it and have it tell stories and make sound effects it's [ __ ] [Music] crazy so here's the good news if you're
63. 14:51new to the channel if you're new to AI feel like I don't know what this sayi is listen listen Mister I didn't go to MIT
64. 14:58or one of the them fancy mathematical schools if you're sitting there on the sidelines thinking that you got to be
65. 15:05one of them phds like like Pate modder who hangs out in here he's an actual PhD in mathematics working for Google you don't have to be like
66. 15:18that you don't it's a remarkable time we're in and as more and more people discover that and discover that AI can be fun AI
67. 15:28can be inspiring AI can be your companion AI can be a therapist AI can be a friend how we interact with computers is
68. 15:44about to shift dramatically where kind of the primary skill right now and this is going to get more and
69. 15:54more intuitive but this is really weird and I mean Source Camp I'm glad you're here cuz it's like this this is kind of
70. 16:00how Kelly approaches her work is you just ask this [ __ ] for what you want like Kelly was telling me she was
71. 16:12working with some business owner that had did something in bars or restaurants or something like that and he's like
72. 16:20well could it help me with my inventory and she's not a restaurant tour but she's like I don't know let's
73. 16:28try dear chat PT she took a picture of his bar with all the bottles she said based on the levels of liquid in the bottles can you give me an
74. 16:40inventory report and any bottle that's a third or less put it on the reorder flag or you know status out it
75. 16:55came that guy had his first Kevin McAllister moment it could do that like you just have to be willing to ask
76. 17:10it one of the things that I enjoy most in here is just asking AI stupid [ __ ] because more often than not it does
77. 17:21it and then you're like holy really [Music] can you tell me his credentials as to why he's an an authority on
78. 17:38AI sir I would like to know yeah yes sir Mr Shannon Mr shner yes uh wondering inquiring very deeply uh and sincerely and no offense meant
79. 17:51but uh what sir by chance prto are your qualifications you have no qualifications oh wow here are my qualifications I have a degree in

81. 18:31I would say I I'm not I'm not really qualified to talk about the technology of AI I can explain how it works but I can't do it I'm not a
82. 18:46[Music] mathematician created a full month's roster day hour by hour adding in all my work exercise Etc today there you go
83. 18:57you're absolutely looking for a career in politics I I am Shannon Sky 2028 if you don't know I'm going to be
84. 19:05running for president in 20128 well no I'm going to be running as the spokes model for an AI for president in [Music]
85. 19:152028 and my only promise is we'll do what the AI says I'll just be here to deliver the message um no so but seriously um [Music]
86. 19:33here's here's my experience the storytelling thing is oddly a qualification um when I got really interested in AI
87. 19:43I've been paying attention to AI for I don't know the past decade or so I have a technology company uh an automated uh
88. 19:50video storytelling platform called Story vine uh we've been around for 12 years just added a whole bunch of AI features
89. 19:57to it which is pretty exciting so I've built some [ __ ] but that's neither here nor there um I was around I don't know if you can
90. 20:08tell I know I look super model beautiful but I'm an older [Music] fell I'm 59 and I
91. 20:24uh I was living in New York City in the mid90s and I discovered um the worldwide web like a lot of people
92. 20:35and I knew a bunch of talented people and I started one of the first digital magazines I'll tell you I'll tell you
93. 20:41the the the the Epiphany I had with the worldwide web and it'll be relevant to this it's funny I don't know why I'm
94. 20:49actually answering the question what are your qualifications tonight cuz quite frankly my qualifications are I turned
95. 20:56on the [ __ ] camera on Tik Tok and you're sitting here listening to to me so that's all the qualifications that are really necessary
96. 21:03but 1994 I teach myself enough HTML there was only like six tags so you didn't have to be that technical I teach myself enough HTML
97. 21:14to create the first issue of a web magazine called Urban desires this by the way is a sidequest drive this say an 888 megabyte I think
98. 21:31this is an 88 one might have been a 45 44 but that's a hard drive in a cassette called a sidequest drive and that was
99. 21:41how you store data back in the olden time in my day our floppy drives were this [Laughter] big um so I so I I learned enough HTML to
100. 21:57put together this art and culture magazine called Urban desires and I knew a couple of technical people I'm like well how do I get it on
101. 22:06the internet and they're like oh you got to put it on an internet server and I didn't know what that was and they were
102. 22:11like well I got a phone number of some system in California and you can upload your files to that computer in
103. 22:18California and then you'll be on the internet I was living in Brooklyn and I uploaded my files to this computer in California
104. 22:30and I was on the internet my magazine was on the internet the issue 1.1 of urban Desires in November of 1994 and 3 weeks
105. 22:42later I was on a uh an online bulletin board system in New York City called Echo was where a lot of the New York media people hung out
106. 22:52reporters computer geeks and nerds and hackers it was cool and someone on eeko hey Kyle did you know that Urban desires was
107. 23:04written about in Liberation the Parisian News Daily I was like what like yeah it's it's the it's a big article on Urban Desires in this
108. 23:17Parisian newspaper so I'm living in New York City and I knew that there was an international news stand in Times
109. 23:25Square and so the following Sunday I went down to the international news stand in Time Square and I bought an issue of liberon
110. 23:37and I'm standing in the middle of Time Square cars are blowing by and people are blowing by and I'm flipping through this
111. 23:45paper and sure enough there's a full page [ __ ] article about Urban desires with screenshots of these web pages I made in
112. 23:58my apartment in Brooklyn and uploaded to a server in California and 3 weeks later they were written about in Paris and I was like
113. 24:11shaking because what I knew in that moment was that the world had just changed but no one knew it but I knew
114. 24:23it and it was it was like this electric jolt went through me it was like holy [ __ ] this internet thing this worldwide
115. 24:34web thing is going to change everything and I knew it I didn't like surmise it I didn't you know make predictions like I I felt it in my
116. 24:45soul and it did and I ended up co-founding agency.com which was one of the first digital agencies and so I took
117. 24:52a lot of my storytelling expertise and I figured out how to tell brand stories in interactive environments and how do
118. 25:00you translate a brand like British Airways or cocacola or Nike into an interactive environment that's what we
119. 25:06got to do we got to build a lot of the first websites for the Fortune 500 it was [ __ ] insane so I got to be on the
120. 25:18inside of that Revolution from from essentially the beginning like New York City was the center of the technological development of the web
121. 25:33which was counterintuitive right because you think oh it should be from San Francisco but New York City is a Media
122. 25:39Town New York City's about words and articles and right and so the media of social media New York City was the center of that
123. 25:52so the [ __ ] that got to do with AI Kyle what are your qualifications for AI I didn't ask you about your stupid
124. 25:59websites you built with your stupid dumb HTML tags you dumb dumb probably didn't even have CSS back then did you [Music] [Applause]
125. 26:13correct so in 2021 I'm fairly far down the rabbit hole of blockchain and nfts I get involved with this project
126. 26:28called neotokyo which was really bitching for a while and I was like wow this this blockchain nft stuff this could change some
127. 26:41things and so I started going down the rabbit hole deeper and deeper and the more I dug the less real it
128. 26:50felt it's like who are these guy it was like all these crypto Bros and like everyone was trying to scam each other
129. 26:55and be each other's exit liquidity and it was just [ __ ] weird and so I I I kind of soured on the on the nft things but one of the
130. 27:07projects that one of the The Other Guys in neotokyo was a co-founder of this project called pixel mind and pixel mind
131. 27:15was an nft project built on top of stable diffusion I am late what did I miss nothing just my origin story I'm
132. 27:24answering the question Mr it of Sir what what are your [Music] qualifications um so this project pixel mind the the CEO did this really cool
133. 27:38thing where he created these Mad Libs style prompts that you just filled in certain words it would be like a blank
134. 27:46mask and then you'd put in a an animal mask or a ceremonial mask or whatever and then it would why Denver um that's just a long story cuz I
135. 27:57had to we had to get out of the East Coast um just for kids kids were really stressed out and full of anxiety and so
136. 28:04it was either back to New York City move to LA or Boulder was was um was where we were thinking of moving and we ended up
137. 28:12moving to Boulder so that that was that um so anyway so I started playing with this thing called pixel mind where you you
138. 28:21just make these images really easily it was early stable diffusion and they were just beautiful and you could you could
139. 28:26watch the images build and it it would even record movies of the images building and you could for every image that you created you could
140. 28:34watch the movie of it being created it was just fascinating and then I I tried to teach myself um stable diffusion and how to install
141. 28:46it and I failed miserably and then I finally after nine attempts finally got it running and I and I installed this thing
142. 28:54called dream Booth which allowed me to upload pictures of myself and and um make all these crazy weird self-portraits and I'm like oh that's
143. 29:03kind of cool and so I started an art project called Kyle Shannon dreams so if you go to Instagram at Kyle Shannon
144. 29:09dreams or if you go to Tik Tok at Kyle Shannon dreams you can see a bunch of those images that I I did and stories
145. 29:17that I wrote and on Tik Tok I actually acted out the stories that I wrote I I I became the characters and so what started happening
146. 29:28to me what was seeping into my brain is with this AI stuff I'm outputting things that are dramatically better than the amount
147. 29:43of my input like I'm putting in this much effort and I'm getting back this much results and so that was kind of
148. 29:52mind-blowing and then chat GPT came out and I'd been playing with gpt3 on the open AI playground and I I
149. 30:02sort of got it I sort of got what was going on but when chat GPT came out there was something about they they just
150. 30:08Stripped Away all of the knobs and dials of models and weights and temperature and all that [ __ ] and it was just
151. 30:17like the Google search box it was just like this magic box and you just type [ __ ] in it and [ __ ] would come out and I'm like this seems
152. 30:30interesting and so one night I'm sitting on the couch we're watching some shitty TV show so I'm not paying attention to
153. 30:37it it's just you know it's the scourge of every marriage is what are we watching tonight and I'm like the secret
154. 30:44of Skinwalker Ranch and she's like uh and then she's like some [ __ ] costume drama and I'm like uh right so I think
155. 30:50this was a night where she had won that battle and so I had heard that GPT could do coding and so I said hey chat GPT write
156. 31:02me some python code and it did and then I thought huh I had this flash of humiliation I don't know how to run python code so it
157. 31:18looked pretty but and I could sort of read what it was doing but I didn't know how to run it I didn't know if it
158. 31:25worked and so I said hey chat you P um I don't know how to run python code said not a problem open up your terminal type
159. 31:33in this command line do this install this Library I'm like I don't want command line no that's what the internet used to be
160. 31:41and I I I like the internet when it was point and clicky so I said no I don't want to do command line is there just a
161. 31:47website I can copy and paste the code said sure here's five and the first one it gave me was replit which is you know
162. 31:54the big one for running python code Maybe code I don't [ __ ] know and chat GPT proceeded to help me write and debug
163. 32:09code for an application that I wrote within 90 minutes and it was an application that took inputs from a user
164. 32:21they put in a topic they wanted to talk about and then it generated five pieces of social media content including a Blog
165. 32:28tweets Instagram I don't know whatever it was five pieces of social media so I was using API calls to the open AI API 90
166. 32:40minutes to a fully functional python application that generated social media content based on a single input I've never written a line of
167. 32:50python in my life that moment I had the exact same chills and and electric running through my body as
168. 33:00I did when I was standing in the middle of Time Square holding that French newspaper and the the [ __ ] exact same phrase popped into my
169. 33:10head the world just changed but nobody knows it yet chat GPT is not fancy Google the G in GPT not enough people talk about it
170. 33:27stand for generative it's not copying and pasting it's not just processing existing information it's generating new original
171. 33:38content that I get to direct and I get to curate the output of and it changes everything about how we use
172. 33:48computers so my qualifications are I've been in this movie before and what I can tell you is this what I can promise you is this
173. 33:59the level of impact of the technology if you compare what HTML did to what generative AI does they're not even in the same
174. 34:13neighborhood I mean as profound as the hypertext transfer protocol is what it effectively is is you can click on
175. 34:24[ __ ] to go to to data on another computer that's all it is and I don't mean to diminish it but it like that's the that's kind of the
176. 34:36primary piece of functionality it allows computers to easily connect with one another built on top of 70 years of
177. 34:44Internet development and infrastructure right that's what chat GPT does for AI this simple little box give U gives us
178. 34:54regular ass people effectively pointing click access to 10,000 times more powerful technology easily and then there's also some stats
179. 35:11that I think are profound to get to 100 million users the worldwide web took six years chat GPT to get to 100 million users it was six weeks
180. 35:30no advertising essentially a stealth launch of a product that they didn't think anyone give a [ __ ] about because the
181. 35:38technology been out for two years the core technology behind chat GPT had been out for two years in fact fun fact you might not
182. 35:48know the instructions for how to write chat GPT we in the documentation for gpt3 on the on the GPT playground if you were a
183. 36:01developer the example project in the documentation was chat GPT and nobody [ __ ] built it
184. 36:15nobody so in October of 2021 20 21 22 21 22 no 22 in October of
185. 36:3122 it's clear that Microsoft is going to invest a billion dollars in open Ai and so Sam Waltman says to his developers
186. 36:44hey they're going to make this big announcement we should probably have something to show for it that doesn't
187. 36:49look like a [ __ ] developer portal could one of y'all just whip up that chat GPT thing that we put in the documentation [Laughter]
188. 37:00seriously they had two weeks to do it and I assume that they had built some version of it they're probably just
189. 37:06cleaning up something they' built internally and they launched it they went out for drinks the night before
190. 37:12they launched chat GPT November 29th 2022 they go out for drinks and they're like yeah I mean we'll put this out
191. 37:21there no one's going to really care maybe we'll get a couple of reshares and 5,000 likes or something like that
192. 37:29within 5 days they had a million users within 6 weeks they had 100 million users they had Google in a flop sweat and Microsoft invested $1
193. 37:40billion so if you've seen what I've seen and you've experienced what I've experienced and you've experienced it
194. 37:49with chat GPT and generative Ai and now with this music stuff and the video stuff and the image stuff [Music]
195. 38:00the world has already changed but most people don't know it yet how do they say it the future is unevenly distributed right
196. 38:10now so those are my qualifications I learned in the 9s that the most important thing was to be in the
197. 38:24conversation to be in the community that was in the conversation and to be building [ __ ] it literally didn't
198. 38:33matter what you were paying attention to who you were talking to or what you were building none of that was relevant what
199. 38:41was relevant was that you were doing it because as you're doing it this early like the other thing that is I don't think enough people are
200. 38:52talking about in human history there are very few very few moments where everything changes there's like language writing or
201. 39:07pictures right visual writing fire wheel printing press steam engine Industrial Revolution all the [ __ ] that came with
202. 39:23that computer internet and I would argue AI like 10ish I'm lucky enough to have been on
203. 39:38the tail end of the personal computer right in the heart of the worldwide web and now I'm at the beginning of AI generative AI you have no
204. 39:53idea no idea how big the opport opportunity is if you just come hang out on this stupid [ __ ] Channel where I
205. 40:03play shitty guitar with a shitty singing dog with no qualifications the opportunity for you to just be in the conversation is [ __ ] [Music]
206. 40:16massive why do I have people that show up here every night is it for my good looks well it might be I mean come
207. 40:24on couple of filters little bit of makeup a crew of seven and you twoo can look like this no it's because once you play with
208. 40:37these tools once you have your first Kevin McAllister moment and then you have another one and then you have another three and then
209. 40:48every two weeks you're like holy [ __ ] [ __ ] and then you ReDiscover that childish enthusiasm you had for possib
210. 40:57and the world when you were seven that got shut down because they told you you weren't talented or pretty enough or
211. 41:04couldn't write or couldn't draw and you [ __ ] shut it down you should get a real job like Daddy whatever the [ __ ] shut you down at
212. 41:127 AI is is somehow miraculously like re-energizing that part of you be honest Kyle you heard the tail under the wheel
213. 41:28I mean I get to witness that every night in here and on the AI Salon lunatick hey Kyle this channel has inspired most of what I've done this
214. 41:40year awesome well hope hopefully you've done good things I know you have listen I got strung out on crack
215. 41:51you inspired me this whole year um oh and now probably my uh cuz cuz I made a joke Tik tocks AI is going to either ban me for life or

219. 42:36for 18 months now nightly the first year I did seven nights a week 2 to three hours a night the only nights that I missed was
220. 42:46when Tik Tok banned me for a week two or three times and like one or two one or two nights where just [ __ ] came up but I did
221. 42:55seven nights a week for a year and now I'm doing five nights a [Music]
222. 43:16week and to us Irregulars it meets the world bro thank you very much I registered for chat GPT the first day or
223. 43:23two but then shelved it for months until AI learning lab oh that's cool cool ton skier yeah I mean that's the the thing
224. 43:31about chat GPT it's it so here's here's one of the other there's there's there's so many parallels to the early days of the web
225. 43:39so right now if you want you can go to Ry and get a a [ __ ] fancy ass design degree in user experience and user design and user
226. 43:54interface and web design and interactive 3D CSS twirly design you can get degrees in all that from all the
227. 44:04universities you can't get a degree in generative AI right now the early days of the worldwide web the only people that could build
228. 44:13websites were were people who were curious enough and adventurous enough to dick around with the technology nobody knew what a website
229. 44:26was nobody knew what information architecture was nobody knew like like consistent Banner sizes the Internet advertising Bureau had to
230. 44:38be invented by someone who said hey maybe we should make banners all the same size so every [ __ ] website
231. 44:44doesn't have a differ Siz Banner why don't we make some standards that was like what 97 98 something like
232. 44:54that so for for years banners were just [ __ ] everywhere and they were all different sizes and they could take over
233. 45:01the screen it was like it was incredibly inventive because everyone was inventing what we now take for granted that's
234. 45:08where we are with generative AI we're waiting for these big companies like anthropic and open Ai and meta and
235. 45:15Google to make all these tools and then we go run and look at them and we're like oh this one does coding good now oh
236. 45:22this one does words good now oh this one does pictures good now we're like okay well if I stick together a picture with
237. 45:28this with words from this and that and that and music from that I could make myself a little movie for my kids that they would enjoy at
238. 45:37night three four years from now that's just going to be like could I please have a movie for my child or your child
239. 45:44will be like I want to watch a movie about ah and it'll just start playing cuz those tools will be built
240. 45:50the infrastructure will be built there will start to be University degrees in applying generative AI to child
241. 45:58rearing you can go get that degree right now you got the [ __ ] AI learning lab buddy and anyone anyone who tells you they're an
242. 46:13expert right now is full of [ __ ] there are people who've been doing it longer and know some of the peace
243. 46:24parts and they can glue some of the [ __ ] together but when the technology is literally changing on a week by- week

245. 46:48now so how do you deal with that well you hang out with people that are curious and adventurous and Brave and
246. 46:58hopefully generous and and in fact I know I'm in deep rant territory here but that's okay go there the salon. this
247. 47:09community we had our first meeting December 7th 2022 if you do the math that's 7 days after chat GPT
248. 47:22launched Leah faston and I who I started this with she and I were talking about this a stuff with pictures and then chat
249. 47:29GPT came out and we were both like holy [ __ ] this seems like a thing maybe we should start a group and just gather
250. 47:36people together that are curious about this stuff and see if we can figure this [ __ ] out that's what this
251. 47:43is so this is a community right now we're up to about 1,700 people who are optimistic and curious about AI curious and playful
252. 47:57and generous and brave and empathetic so you can go in here and you can be like uh hey uh listen uh I don't
253. 48:09know anything about AI but hopefully I'm not too much of a dumb dumb cuz that's how we all feel when you
254. 48:20start and one of the big questions I get is what course should I take I don't [ __ ] know I mean there's courses out there there's
255. 48:29these you can make Mone with these [ __ ] you can make money with ch you know what they're selling you
256. 48:39courses on how you can make money with chat gbt they're not making money with chat GPT they're making money on your fear of
257. 48:47missing out that someone else is making money with chat GPT their course here's what their courses are going to tell you use chat
258. 48:57jpt to make a course and sell courses well [ __ ] I've been you could we've been doing that since the 70s like
259. 49:05like you know first it was mail order then it was VHS then it was D DVDs CDs that it was online
260. 49:21courses or they'll tell you to use chat GPT to go start another business and use chat GPT to accelerate that
261. 49:29business you can go take that course or I just saw a um a uh a pin here from from Jim Ross Stay curious play and have fun with AI That's his
262. 49:43advice Jim Ross is in the storage management business not data storage self storage he gets up every morning and spends an hour
263. 49:57using AI to generate [ __ ] for his business images and ads and music and emails and project plans and proposals I don't
264. 50:09know what the [ __ ] he does he does every single morning like a practice like [ __ ] yoga Jim Ross is is the AI yoga Master
265. 50:21of the AI learning lab and the AI salon and he and he's getting all sorts of opportunities he just got invited by
266. 50:29the main organizing body of his industry to present at their big conference on AI he's become the AI guy for an entire
267. 50:43sector what is the opportunity there I don't know we're like this whatever the [ __ ] AI is hasn't even started yet like

288. 54:14why as AI gets more capable AI is going to start taking over the tasks of the work we do so the task tasks might be things
289. 54:28like project management which maybe you went to school for project management and you've been a project manager for 10
290. 54:35years and all of a sudden along is going to come a technology that does all those tasks and so maybe you're the biggest
291. 54:46[ __ ] in the world but you're a great project manager and people just kind of hold their nose and hire you because
292. 54:52you're a great project manager but they kind of hate working with you because you're an [ __ ] what happens to your career trajectory
293. 55:02when the AI can do 90% of what you do as good as you can do it there may be 10% 20% where you're still better but the
294. 55:13base project management tasks can now be done with AI what that means is the companies that hire you can now hire
295. 55:22anyone who can use AI to to to push the buttons to get to make make the ideas or the AI do the project
296. 55:32management and so the shift that we're in the middle of is a shift from hiring people for what they can do their
297. 55:42skills to who they are and how much we trust them and how much we want to work with them like I've worked with Kelly Camp
298. 55:53I've worked with lunis with Daisy Thomas I've worked with an Mur Murphy like worked with like an Murphy and I did
299. 55:59this GPT for good thing where in a in a week and a half we kicked off a 24-hour GPT Aon and this community built 150 gpts for
300. 56:10nonprofits in 24 hours I know that if I want to get something done I'll pick up the phone and call an
301. 56:19Murphy and say okay we're you and I are going to get our add together we're going to line up our little channels and
302. 56:25we're going to focus it for 3 weeks and we're going to [ __ ] blow people's minds cuz I know that's who she
303. 56:32is I will just trust that whatever skills are necessary she's going to be able to utilize the AI to do that
304. 56:41[ __ ] that shift we're at the very beginning of the again the world has changed but no one knows it yet Pi did a reset my previous Pi Diana
305. 56:54no longer exists I you should be able to just switch back to um to that voice Mr it or or Mr Studio Allan you should be able to just

335. 1:02:38starts with play playing play with these tools don't think that you have to learn these tools don't think that you have to
336. 1:02:48learn AI you don't have to learn AI you should play with AI long enough to discover oh holy [ __ ] it
337. 1:03:01does that or long enough to discover oh that's really cool but I'm not really into that but what are these picture
338. 1:03:06things oh my God I love making art let me go make art or oh my God I never thought I could do anything with music
339. 1:03:14and I've had these ideas in my head and now I can you play first take all of the expectations of you're going to become a brilliant AI

341. 1:03:39don't know what that was in reference to so that's the first phase and that phase could take six months that phase could take six

351. 1:05:19like and they will give you ideas and you'll say hey I really want to build something I really want to create
352. 1:05:25something now I want to do an art project I want to make a book for my kids and that's when you move into this
353. 1:05:30next phase of mindfully create you think about a problem you want to solve and then you figure out what of the AI tools
354. 1:05:38that I've played with could help me do that and you go do it and in trying to build something with intention you'll start to figure out
355. 1:05:47where the boundaries are of how good or bad these tools are and what you'll find in my experience is that you can get to 80% of whatever you
356. 1:06:03want to accomplish almost immediately like shockingly fast and then the last 20% like anything in human endeavor is
357. 1:06:13the hardest and the last 10% is almost impossible and and you'll find the limitations of these things but but you
358. 1:06:19will have built something or you will have written a book I'm working on my third book project right now I had one opportunity
359. 1:06:28in my life I had a book deal because of the early days of the internet and I blew it I didn't finish the book I let my ADD
360. 1:06:37demons [ __ ] ruin that opportunity so I've had one opportunity to write a book in my life I've got one published now
361. 1:06:44and two more in the works because of AI so mindfully create and then the last one is is really the most important and
362. 1:06:54and you know the the last one can happen while you're doing the first two and that's basically Learn out Loud share
363. 1:07:02what you're doing share what's working share what's not working share your ideas share your Inspirations share your
364. 1:07:08Kevin mallister moments share them on Facebook share them on LinkedIn share them on the AI Salon share them in

388. 1:11:04me so hang out in this group keep coming back to these lives yeah I posted an article in the mechanic skilled they
389. 1:11:11released the paper with all the details oh that's fantastic okay I'll check that out that's super cool yeah pain works
390. 1:11:18for Google in their TPU group and if you don't know what a TPU is join the AI salon and join the on mechanics Guild
391. 1:11:26and P will tell you in fact I think there's an article in there on it where he'll tell you the difference between a
392. 1:11:32CPU a GPU and a TPU and then some of these specialized AI chips that are being formed and it's fascinating once
393. 1:11:40you understand how this technology works you like it's [ __ ] mind-blowing what's happening behind the scenes do
394. 1:11:46you have concerns about the loop back in AI in search engines losing relevance um I I do and I don't I think it is a known
395. 1:11:57risk and I think the use so so a couple of things I think the current amount of AI generated garbage that's being dumped into um the
396. 1:12:10internet is going to absolutely temporarily pollute um pollute the training sets but I also think it's a known problem and it
397. 1:12:21it seems to me it sounds like they're making good progress in um generating synthetic data so so if if the the
398. 1:12:31Frontier Model companies continued to ingest data at the rate they're doing it we're going to they're going to
399. 1:12:37essentially run out of all the data in the world by like 2027 or 2029 right we're basically out of data they can't train it on
400. 1:12:45anymore so there's a lot of work being done right now on generating synthetic data that's actually really good and can
401. 1:12:51train these models good and there's new research coming out that says hey if you want if you want to train these things
402. 1:12:56on specific things train them on specific data and don't just have it be this big Blobby mess of [ __ ] so I think
403. 1:13:06that um AI training is going to shift from what it is today to some new thing again I don't know the mathematic side
404. 1:13:15of this I don't know the real issues there but it there's enough awareness there's enough money and there's enough
405. 1:13:21big brains working on this that I think I think whatever ever data corruption these past two years have introduced will be accounted
406. 1:13:31for I think it's mostly interesting because people think tech companies hate each other oh the the the Apple the
407. 1:13:38Apple Google thing yeah I I mean it's it's fascinating right you've got you've got Apple's models being trained on
408. 1:13:44Google's tpus using Google's Transformer technology um incorporating open AI chat GPT technology when when the the small
409. 1:13:57large language models of apples can't handle the answer it dynamically shifts it up to chat gpts it's absolutely
410. 1:14:04fascinating and and yeah I think I think all of the companies meta included I mean I give meta big props on this I
411. 1:14:12think Mark Zuckerberg's a douchebag and I think for the most part have hated what they've done for the past pile of
412. 1:14:18years but his move to open source um their Frontier models I think is is huge and I think it's I I think it's
413. 1:14:28important and it's forcing other companies to be better actors in the ecosystem and it's forcing collaboration it's
414. 1:14:37making development possible for for small businesses and medium-sized businesses that otherwise wouldn't have
415. 1:14:45been able to do it because you know the costs for the commercial companies are too high so um there there's all sorts
416. 1:14:52of amazing stuff going on right now would training them on data that's made up lead them to coming up with false
417. 1:14:59responses I I don't think so that's that's where I think a lot of the research is they're they're refining
418. 1:15:04ways to create the synthetic data so that they actually come up with more accurate responses not less accurate the
419. 1:15:15way to to understand how large language models work you know think about I I'll use the example Andre karpathy used in a talk he gave to
420. 1:15:25Nvidia about a year back where he said if if you want to understand why large language models hallucinate so much let me flip
421. 1:15:38this if you want to understand why large language models hallucinate so much let's take an example of um a particular
422. 1:15:47math formula so let's say you're trying to ask chat GPT about a math formula and let's say it's the uh The Irregular
423. 1:15:56conjecture is what this formula is called and you go to chat GPT and you say tell me everything you know about
424. 1:16:03the irregular conjecture and it will spit out a bunch of [ __ ] and formulas and it's going to look great and then and then you're like oh
425. 1:16:12this taught me about The Irregular conjecture and now I know about it and you go tell a mathematician about the irregular conjecture and the
426. 1:16:18mathematician's like that's not right that's completely wrong where did you get that well I asked chat GPT and it
427. 1:16:24gave me this and and the mathematician looks at your cat GPT and he's like this is [ __ ] this is this is all
428. 1:16:30wrong you're like oh it hallucinated chat GPT is bad why did it do that because when it got trained it got
429. 1:16:40trained on all the [ __ ] on the internet right so in all the [ __ ] on the Internet is the paper written by the guy
430. 1:16:51that came up with the irregular conjecture right that's the the the original source of Truth and then also on the internet are
431. 1:17:01all of the grad students that worked with that Professor when that paper was written and they contributed to that
432. 1:17:06paper and they've written their own papers and they've written about the irregular conjecture and so those are in there that's
433. 1:17:16awesome but you know what else is in there all of the undergrad students that read a paragraph about the
434. 1:17:26irregular conjecture and wrote their own papers that were full of mistakes and then there were some reporters that
435. 1:17:33wrote an article about the irregular conjecture that got the facts completely wrong right so on the internet there is significantly more
436. 1:17:43data about the irregular conjecture that is wrong than there is data that is right so if you just say tell me about The
437. 1:17:53Irregular conjecture It Go goes out and says hey everything tell me about this and it essentially amalgamates all the shitty answers with
438. 1:18:02all the good answers and it spits out something that looks right but may be wrong or it has a wrong reference or it
439. 1:18:09has a wrong formula because maybe it pulled some piece of information from a shitty data source now if you say I want you to act
440. 1:18:18like a mathematician that specializes in the branch of mathematics that includes the irregular conjecture and I want you to tell me
441. 1:18:27about The Irregular conjecture what you've now just done is you've told chat GPT to narrow its focus to from
442. 1:18:35everything written about the irregular conjecture to just the stuff where mathematicians talk about it that's why telling chat GPT to act
443. 1:18:46like a certain thing makes it better because you're actually narrowing the universe of of information that it's
444. 1:18:52pulling from crazy right so anyway that's that my my voice hang on I need water clearly our principles are
445. 1:19:07different if you integrate meta into your product no I have I haven't I'm using I'm using open AI right now I think I'm us mostly using open
446. 1:19:18AI um no I I I haven't but I still think it's an important thing to have out there no there's there's a I think right now
447. 1:19:30um perplexity is interesting claude's very interesting open AI is very interesting um the problem with both Claude and open AI is their data
448. 1:19:41security right so the the reason meta is important is that if people need to make hermetically sealed data
449. 1:19:48processing um components they can do it much more easily with that wow I'm a nerd and I just spent the last 15
450. 1:19:55minutes to find out 1123 was our first interaction oh wow that's cool waffling Wednesday over 100 watching hello

457. 1:21:33formulate better questions yeah it's good it's good J uh Julian joster the the um the the other thing that that is
458. 1:21:42is really true about AI right now is if you best ask better questions you'll get better answers and and
459. 1:21:50it's it's significantly Beyond prompt engineering like I almost think of it more like having a better conversation
460. 1:21:59with your large language model will give you better answers because it's not it's it's rarely a single post or a single
461. 1:22:07prompt that I do that that does anything you can work really hard if you're building an application certainly you
462. 1:22:14can work really hard on creating a master prompt that's got lots of different components to it but most of
463. 1:22:19the way I work with with large language models is I'll I'll tell it what I'm doing and I'll tell it what I'm thinking
464. 1:22:25and I'll tell it some ideas I have and then I'll say you know give me some of your ideas and then it'll give me some
465. 1:22:31of its and that'll Focus me to give it more so it's it's much more like this collaborative back and forth

479. 1:24:27one get access access to what to oh to to voice you it's going to be given first to um chat GPT plus subscribers so
480. 1:24:39that's the 20 Buck a month subscription so chat GPT is free but chat GPT plus is 20 bucks a month I think the 20 bucks a
481. 1:24:48month for chat GPT plus is worth it so that's it but you can you can have access to the current voice model for
