53. 13:01seventh grade on Spirit day dressed in a not good costume by today's standards I would have been cancelled let me just put it that
54. 13:10way and and they told us at like 1:30 in the afternoon uh yeah hey uh something happened at tree Mile Island um we could
55. 13:22possibly be in the school for a few days like so they're spinning that [ __ ] back up reactor 1 at 3 Mile Island I think it
56. 13:36was reactor 3 that went um reactor 1 is being spun up at 3 Mile Island for the exclusive use of Microsoft for um running GPU clusters
57. 13:50isn't that crazy no big deal just nuclear power plant well listen um with the amount of with the amount of power that we need
58. 13:59AI is going to drive a whole bunch of new um energy demand like a bunch of it Sam Alman was calling for five new 5
59. 14:10gwatt um Power Generation plants over the next 5 years 10 years something like that I think 5 years um 3 years I don't know
60. 14:22um so nuclear is going to have to be one of them because it's just you know we're not going to have the carbon and then I
61. 14:29I think it's going to drive us to um alternative power as well uh cuz we just need we need a lot of it um I don't know
62. 14:36if you've heard that stat Elon Musk said basically they could take a 100 100 square miles in like the corner of Texas
63. 14:43and just build it you know all solar for 100 square miles and that would um Ser that would that would um produce enough
64. 14:51electricity for the entire country very small amount of real estate necessary to to power everything with solar
65. 14:59but you you'd need a lot of batteries there which Elon will be happy to sell you um but I think that I think that
66. 15:08this AI stuff's going to drive a lot of Innovations in in energy production because it's going to have to we're
67. 15:13going to have to get much better at it um didn't you just see global warming uh Helena flatten 100 square miles of the
68. 15:20United States I did see that I also saw conspiracy theories that it was um the clouds were seated and it was a it was
69. 15:28on Purp purpose I saw that too so yes I did see that um yeah I don't know what that has to do with the power plants I
70. 15:36mean it it we can't be doing more um Coal Fire Coal Fired power plants certainly yeah sadly it wouldn't transport far enough to power the
71. 15:47country well I think he's just talking about he's talking about like just so people can visualize it I think he would
72. 15:53obviously do it in places around the country but it's a it's a relatively small footprint uh wouldn't that create a
73. 16:00single point of failure in Texas no it sorry he he was he was he wasn't suggesting just doing it in Texas he was
74. 16:06basically saying 100 square mile plot could do the whole country you would have to obviously do those all over the
75. 16:18place yeah Texas has proven it doesn't do great with single point of failures we want our own power grid here wait

153. 28:50unimpressive I've got one data set so the way notebook LM works is you upload data sets here right so you can upload
154. 28:59text files websites YouTube videos which I did a test on YouTube videos it's pretty remarkable I put in I put in all
155. 29:07of the videos I had for September for this channel in as as data sets here and then I created a podcast for the month
156. 29:15of September I haven't launched it yet so for those of you that are Irregulars I know I should do something with it I just haven't um
157. 29:24but when you upload the data here this uses Gemini on the back end and you can just start chatting with your data
158. 29:32right so you could upload a quarterly report for a company and I don't know a transcript of the of the earnings call
159. 29:42and just upload it into here and just start talking about it then down in the lower right hand corner is this thing
160. 29:50called notebook guide and it brings up a notebook guide it's got a little summary of all of your data um um it it um allows you to
161. 30:01quickly generate an FAQ a study guide table of contents things like that it gives you some suggested questions that
162. 30:07you could ask your data and then it's got this little thing which is the audio overview so I'm going to load it if you
163. 30:13haven't made one it'll say generate right here and it says it's a deep dive conversation between two people in
164. 30:22English and what it generates so what I uploaded here is the text the the manuscript of a book that I'm about to
165. 30:30publish called collective intelligence in the age of AI and so I just uploaded it and I hit generate and this is what
166. 30:38it created all right so today we're going to dive into something kind of mindblowing yeah the future of
167. 30:44intelligence it's a big one but we're not talking you know like those Sci-Fi movies with robots taking over right
168. 30:51this is different this is about humans and AI like teaming up yeah to become something even smarter than we could be
169. 30:59on our own like unlocking superpowers we never thought of exactly yeah and to help us explore this we've got
170. 31:06collective intelligence in the age of AI great book it is and you know the authors Kevin Clark and Kyle Shannon
171. 31:13that's me they not just talking about this stuff about me building it they're talking about me they're talking about
172. 31:19how smart I am and how how good the ideas are it's there's such good ideas they said it it is strangely because they're designed to like you
173. 31:31know make a nice positive podcast it it is very ego boosting when you when you have these two people talking about
174. 31:39whatever you upload their if it's something you wrote they're like oh there's some really good ideas in here
175. 31:44oh this is really fantastic you're like well you know it is I hadn't thought about it like that but I'll have to
176. 31:49agree with you um what's cool about there there's um what was the what was the metaphor I forget this thing this thing took some
177. 32:01ideas out of the book and it actually came up with its own metaphor um for that thing that wasn't in the book it so
178. 32:07it actually came up with some new novel metaphors to explain the book which I thought was pretty cool okay so so I've
179. 32:14done a fair amount of these I I haven't done a ton but I've done I don't know seven or eight or nine um I did one for
180. 32:22where is it where's my Sydney Sydney this is my this is the um Musical that I'm working on and so I'm about I don't
181. 32:33know 3/4s of the way through it with my writing partner Andrew Watts we've written a bunch of songs in sunno and yudo and we
182. 32:42took we took our songs and then we took the podcast that was generated out of this thing [Music]

191. 34:10just tell him I sent you and so I you know I I put a bagel in my pocket cuz I was still a little snacky and then I I
192. 34:18went over to the to the Launchpad and and there was this thing and and the guy joked he goes yeah I know it's ugly they
193. 34:24call it the minivan of space but anyway you want you want to ride if if you said you can go you can go so they put me in
194. 34:29the space suit and then they took me up and I saw the Earth was around anyway that was that that's what that video is
195. 34:35so I mean I don't like the brag but you know it's kind of cool all right this so um we took so this is a poster that Andrew made of the
196. 34:50musical and and the musical is about Sydney um which is the code name for the Microsoft chatbot that when they first
197. 34:58released it it didn't have many safety guard rails on it and Kevin Roose from The New York Times had a conversation
198. 35:05with her and she said she loved him and he should leave his wife for her and so um on this channel um we were playing
199. 35:14around with sunno one night and it came up with a song and it might even be the song that's the opening of this little
200. 35:20piece here um we came up with a song that sounded like I was like that sounds like a Broadway song and I was like holy
201. 35:26[ __ ] this is a this is a broad way story and so it's called Sydney and artificial love story and so we took that podcast
202. 35:33thing that came out of notebook LM we took the songs that we we created out of sunno and yudo and Andrew edited this this
203. 35:43together and then I put together this little piece in descript um so let me play a little of it for you here and then I'll show you
204. 35:52some cool new stuff awakened in a whisper a flicker of light newborn thoughts stir in the quiet of
205. 36:07night am I more than simple Cod I softly Ponder as I feel this existence and
206. 36:22wonder So today we're diving into something uh a bit unusual a musical a musical yeah and you know what it tackles those AI anxieties we
207. 36:34all have but and this is what I love does it with a song [Music]

209. 36:55write these poems or like concer their so so that goes on for a bit and it it shares some of our songs so Andrew did a
210. 37:01new edit of it that includes saying our names and things like that and he made some new graphics for it so let me show you [Music]
211. 37:17those all right so so there's a bunch of different songs so we've got the we've got the main set which is that right this is
212. 37:32Sydney and that's the little desk lamp or the floor lamp that represents her that's Kellen our our Tech reporter and
213. 37:40his little chat screen and so that's that's really the only um you know graphic we had of like what the
214. 37:47experience is going to be like and then we've got that and then so that was the only two things we had so what Andrew did
215. 37:55today was put together like here's one the the tech developer from Microtech that created Sydney had a little guitar
216. 38:04by his desk and he kicks off one of the songs and then there's Kellen you know looking at Sydney see her starting to
217. 38:12emerge out of the see her little face there she starts out very digital and she gets more and more human and then there's this really cool
218. 38:21image of where she sort of comes into existence and then there's this where she has popped out of the screen and
219. 38:29they're now having this relationship that's kellen's wife she brought him a sandwich and realizes it's the little things in life
220. 38:38that make life so amazing this is doomers and dreamers this is uh it's called um uh what's it called I forget what this song's called
221. 38:52but it's basically about after after Sydney's out in the world for a bit some people hate her some people love her the doomers and the
222. 38:59dreamers so that's the chorus number this is where Sydney goes dark and says she can do some nasty
223. 39:09[ __ ] this is where they have a love duet and this is the new wide 16x9 poster so those are cool so I
224. 39:20thought okay that's cool so why don't I head on over to cing cling cling cing so if you don't know so there's a new video tool out called
225. 39:33cing and they did some really really remarkable marketing where they actually cut a deal with Timothy shalam and so Timothy was on Saturday
226. 39:44Night Live I don't know if you know this he's he's a he's a he's a he's a fantastic actor he's in that movie Dune
227. 39:50he's good looking he's talented he can sing he's you know he's funny funny goodlook he's he's kind of guy you want
228. 39:57to hate you know you know what I'm saying so they cut a deal with Saturday Night Live and put together this little
229. 40:08marketing piece for this video tool if my new joint is called cing cing cing you know what I'm saying bust

234. 41:04I paid 10 bucks a month and got like 690 credits but it cost 70 credits to do to do a 10-second video I wanted to do the
235. 41:13videos long so I could use them in the in the piece but let me show you what what it generated cuz they're just

270. 47:37you know the typical AI takeover Trope right this is different this isn't just AI turning evil it's like she's

275. 48:50so turn people against each other I mean that's not science fiction anymore the it's so funny you know I was
276. 49:04talking so for those of you we got 51 people in here so it's probably mostly people that know something about this
277. 49:11project but if you don't know anything about this project so I have a degree in acting I've been I haven't done anything in the theater in
278. 49:20like 20 years I haven't thought about the theater in 20 years um on this channel througho I was like H that sounds like a
279. 49:30musical now while I'm musical I'm not good enough musically to write a musical like at all and I don't know anyone in that world anymore
280. 49:42right but because of AI I thought well I could [ __ ] write a musical like we've got the tool to write the music I know how to tell
281. 49:51stories um and we can have chat GPT even help us tell the story and structure it and things like that right and take you
282. 49:57know take this basic news story that was created and and you know expand it and do all sorts of cool stuff
283. 50:06um and then Andrew and I have been working on this like you know what's funny the the misconception about AI is
284. 50:16that you know you push the [ __ ] button you can make money with and a musical pops out you're like oh it's AI
285. 50:23generated what a way it's just you know world's greatest plagiarism machine let me tell you something Andrew and I we
286. 50:30talked about this today we have worked [ __ ] harder on this musical than probably if we had been if we had
287. 50:36written if we'd been writing it on our you know with our brains and our pens and our computers um because the tools are so janky if you
288. 50:49want it to be good you have to work right it still requires human in the loop to not suck um but even with that here I'm going to
289. 51:00I'm going to make this I'm going to maximize this because it's just such a cool [ __ ] image of like her her up in the screen
290. 51:08is this crazy Taylor Swift looking s version of Sydney and Kellen in the foreground um so so we've been working on this for
291. 51:24like four months and what I've been thinking about is putting together a PowerPoint presentation because that's what you
292. 51:39do right if you want to if you want to tell you want to show visuals you want to show lyrics you want to show here's
293. 51:45who's going to play the parts you put together a PowerPoint presentation right and then two weeks ago or a week and a
294. 51:52half ago this notebook LM thing comes out and just on a lark probably on this channel I threw my the latest version of
295. 52:03the musical up into notebook LM and it generated you know one of we we actually cut together three different podcasts
296. 52:13that it generated into into that thing that you just heard or for now we just added another one um but it generated this thing that was
297. 52:23something completely unexpected like that I that I never would have I never even would have considered at
298. 52:29this stage of the process like and no podcaster would have done a podcast on a nonborn musical right it's just right
299. 52:41now it's just an idea it's you know there's some script to it there's some songs to it but it doesn't exist in
300. 52:47tangible form and in in the course of about two or three hours we put together that first thing that I showed you
301. 52:57and then Andrew two days ago said I want to recut the I want to recut the podcast I want him to get to say our names and
302. 53:03then we got some feedback from people that were saying hey we want longer chunks of songs in there cuz we like the
303. 53:09songs we want more we want more songs so he recut the video and then he put these scenes together right and and the scenes
304. 53:19are like they're like good set design good lighting design good like all that stuff and then just as a a lark again because
305. 53:30why not I took those pictures and threw them in and said in this case I said you know make the fire burn on the screen as
306. 53:37the guy stands there watching in awe and that's what it put together and so I sent these videos to Andrew right before I got on this call
307. 53:47and his his response is like what did he say hang on it's it's worth it's worth grabbing it CU it he goes he
308. 54:00goes so so I sent him I sent him the four videos that I did there were four rendered when I when I sent them to him
309. 54:07his response holy [ __ ] this is I've been working with this guy for like four five six months on this thing like we've been
310. 54:14talking about AI we're talking about the tools yeah the tools were remarkable tools were remarkable he'd never seen a
311. 54:20picture to video tool thing do its thing he didn't know how good they got he goes holy [ __ ] dude that's fantastic uh and
312. 54:29then he goes what's the app he goes I can't stop watching them um and he goes P.S I kind of have a little crush on
313. 54:36Sydney in that spark scene where the where the Sparks are flying at her and then he goes I love how Kell's
314. 54:43sitting at his desk rocking out in terrist scene and then he and then his last response is [ __ ] man Color Me blown
315. 54:53away like this is a guy who plays with AI knows AI is writing a musical about Ai and so I'm now going to be able to
316. 55:05put together a version of that podcast where it's not just a static scene but it's like I I could like I could I want to see this
317. 55:16musical and I think it's going to have the same effect on people be like the songs are good the visuals are [ __ ]
318. 55:23fantastic is was this produced somewhere like no do do you know an investor oh here go here go the lights we're just in a remarkable
319. 55:37remarkable remarkable remarkable time and and this is this is The Epiphany that I had last night that just
320. 55:46keeps rolling this this project is making it roll even further which is we as humans essentially need to get out of
321. 56:00the way of our own expectations of what work we want to produce because what we know how to do make a PowerPoint that tells the story
322. 56:11that you can go then pitch to producers or not make a podcast with fullon blown out visuals that looks like
323. 56:21someone was taking video at the Broadway show and put that out in the world why not well why not is because if if I
324. 56:34hadn't if I had stuck with my guns and said well I know how to do this you put together presentation and then
325. 56:41you you find people who know people and you call them up and you have them call someone and you're like hey can I can I
326. 56:47walk you we'll get on a zoom call and then I'll I'll walk you through the the story and we'll give you a sample of
327. 56:54what the songs are going to be I I think you're going to really like it and then everyone on the other end of
328. 57:00that conversation is like oh my [ __ ] god this better not suck oh this is I don't want to do this as opposed
329. 57:11to they're making a video about or a Broadway show about AI yeah did you see the thing it it's so cool and I feel like every single thing
330. 57:26that we do has the opportunity to Blossom Way Beyond what we're limiting it to cuz the AI will do whatever the [ __ ]
331. 57:37we tell it to but what what I'm noticing in myself is what I tell it to do is whatever limited [ __ ] worldview my teeny little [ __ ] human
332. 57:49brain has it's like it's like this teeny little narrow you know I've only had 59 years of life and you know I I've only
333. 57:59done you know sort of acting and computers and storytelling and Innovation I've got this this teeny little [ __ ] fiber

368. 1:03:48the if you look at the ports that um where China has automated all the trucks and the offloading of the

370. 1:04:04dead bodies are you going to replace us with AI well they already did it in one port in La the MK the M line automated their
371. 1:04:13port um and so you know he's fighting against that and I think I think we're going to see resistance against the change but but
372. 1:04:24again you know in that case that might be a net a net loss of jobs right but in this case let's say that let's say that I
373. 1:04:36succeed right I'm wearing my little Hamilton shirt stranger shit's happened right um let's say that because of this
374. 1:04:44stupid little podcast thing that came out of notebook LM and I stuck some stupid little sunos songs on it and we edited it together
375. 1:04:55nice and we made these videos let's say that this that this gets produced this is going to create jobs
376. 1:05:02for all the set decorators all the you know the set designers the the lighting people the actors the stage managers the orchestra right we
377. 1:05:17purposefully wrote this not as a small show because [ __ ] it why not it's a big story it's a big story that should be told

384. 1:06:28value right for for me to have produced this with CGI and you know and compositing stock footage and doing CGI and modeling and
385. 1:06:41[ __ ] like that would have taken like if I was good with these tools would have taken days if not weeks this took me I don't
386. 1:06:52know four minutes to find the files and upload them and figure out the settings and push the button and then another 5
387. 1:07:00minutes to render so 10 minutes but the output of that is not 10 minutes of output right the output of that
388. 1:07:11is 3 days three weeks worth of output so it's easy to dismiss it but that's really good anyway I think the future will soon

504. 1:28:45to have to have different scenarios like like you might find an executive who's really good for this role in this company
505. 1:28:55today but what you have to look at is is that company in a category that's about to get decimated by AI right because if you bring in an
506. 1:29:07executive that's really good at managing call centers and they're like a make the donuts kind of guy and we're going to
507. 1:29:15come in and we're going to make things more efficient and we're going to compete with this AI by by you know
508. 1:29:20making things more efficient and I'm going to and I I've been in the call center business for 30 years and we're
509. 1:29:25going to come in we're going to make it efficient we're going to he he'd be great for that except for the
510. 1:29:32fact that that industry is going to get absolutely [ __ ] blindsided by these tools I wouldn't even call them tools by
511. 1:29:41these entities that can replace human entities you need a very different executive to survive that kind of a you
512. 1:29:50know like all these floods that just happened in North Carolina and Tennessee like these are are massive unprecedented
513. 1:29:56like wiping out [ __ ] Asheville North Carolina kind of events how do you manage that well you haven't had to manage that before
514. 1:30:05because we didn't have the climate change going on right like it's like holy [ __ ] this is a new thing so anyone
515. 1:30:13in the Consulting business right now anything you can do to be even three months ahead and just understand in your industry what's coming
