13:53 nuclear power plant well listen um with
13:57 the amount of with the amount of power
13:59 that we need
14:00 AI is going to drive a whole bunch of
14:02 new um energy demand like a bunch of it
14:07 Sam Alman was calling for five new 5
14:11 gwatt um Power Generation plants over
14:14 the next 5 years 10 years something like
14:16 that I think 5 years um 3 years I don't
14:20 know
14:22 um so nuclear is going to have to be one
14:25 of them because it's just you know we're
14:28 not going to have the carbon and then I
14:29 I think it's going to drive us to um
14:31 alternative power as well uh cuz we just
14:34 need we need a lot of it um I don't know
14:36 if you've heard that stat Elon Musk said
14:38 basically they could take a 100 100
14:40 square miles in like the corner of Texas
14:43 and just build it you know all solar for
14:47 100 square miles and that would um Ser
14:49 that would that would um produce enough
14:52 electricity for the entire
14:54 country very small amount of real estate
14:57 necessary to to power everything with
14:59 solar
15:00 but you you'd need a lot of batteries
15:01 there which Elon will be happy to sell
15:05 you um but I think that I think that
15:08 this AI stuff's going to drive a lot of
15:10 Innovations in in energy production
15:12 because it's going to have to we're
15:13 going to have to get much better at it
15:15 um didn't you just see global warming uh
15:18 Helena flatten 100 square miles of the
15:20 United States I did see that I also saw
15:22 conspiracy theories that it was um the
15:26 clouds were seated and it was a it was
15:29 on Purp purpose I saw that too so yes I
15:32 did see that um yeah I don't know what
15:35 that has to do with the power plants I
15:36 mean it it we can't be doing more um
15:40 Coal Fire Coal Fired power plants
15:43 certainly yeah sadly it wouldn't
15:44 transport far enough to power the

28:54 the way notebook LM works is you upload
28:56 data sets here right so you can upload
28:59 text files websites YouTube videos which
29:04 I did a test on YouTube videos it's
29:05 pretty remarkable I put in I put in all
29:08 of the videos I had for September for
29:10 this channel in as as data sets here and
29:14 then I created a podcast for the month
29:15 of September I haven't launched it yet
29:17 so for those of you that are Irregulars
29:20 I know I should do something with it I
29:21 just haven't
29:23 um
29:25 but when you upload the data here
29:29 this uses Gemini on the back end and you
29:31 can just start chatting with your data
29:33 right so you could upload a quarterly
29:35 report for a company and I don't know a
29:39 transcript of the of the earnings call
29:42 and just upload it into here and just
29:44 start talking about it then down in the
29:47 lower right hand corner is this thing
29:51 called notebook guide and it brings up a
29:54 notebook guide it's got a little summary
29:56 of all of your
29:57 data um um it it um allows you to
30:01 quickly generate an FAQ a study guide
30:04 table of contents things like that it
30:05 gives you some suggested questions that
30:07 you could ask your data and then it's
30:10 got this little thing which is the audio
30:12 overview so I'm going to load it if you
30:14 haven't made one it'll say generate
30:16 right here and it says it's a deep dive
30:20 conversation between two people in
30:23 English and what it generates so what I
30:25 uploaded here is the text the the
30:28 manuscript of a book that I'm about to
30:30 publish called collective intelligence
30:32 in the age of AI and so I just uploaded
30:35 it and I hit generate and this is what
30:39 it created all right so today we're
30:41 going to dive into something kind of
30:42 mindblowing yeah the future of
30:44 intelligence it's a big one but we're
30:47 not talking you know like those Sci-Fi
30:50 movies with robots taking over right
30:52 this is different this is about humans
30:54 and AI like teaming up yeah to become
30:58 something even smarter than we could be
31:00 on our own like unlocking superpowers we
31:02 never thought of exactly yeah and to
31:05 help us explore this we've got
31:06 collective intelligence in the age of AI
31:09 great book it is and you know the
31:12 authors Kevin Clark and Kyle Shannon
31:14 that's me they not just talking about
31:15 this stuff about me building it they're
31:18 talking about me they're talking about
31:19 how smart I am and how how good the
31:21 ideas are it's there's such good ideas
31:23 they
31:25 said it it is strangely
31:29 because they're designed to like you
31:31 know make a nice positive podcast it it
31:35 is very ego boosting when you when you
31:37 have these two people talking about
31:39 whatever you upload their if it's
31:41 something you wrote they're like oh
31:42 there's some really good ideas in here

32:04 came up with its own metaphor um for
32:06 that thing that wasn't in the book it so

34:50 musical and and the musical is about
34:53 Sydney um which is the code name for the
34:56 Microsoft chatbot that when they first
34:59 released it it didn't have many safety
35:01 guard rails on it and Kevin Roose from
35:03 The New York Times had a conversation
35:05 with her and she said she loved him and
35:08 he should leave his wife for her and so
35:11 um on this channel um we were playing
35:14 around with sunno one night and it came
35:16 up with a song and it might even be the
35:18 song that's the opening of this little
35:20 piece here um we came up with a song
35:23 that sounded like I was like that sounds
35:25 like a Broadway song and I was like holy
35:26 [ __ ] this is a this is a broad way story
35:29 and so it's called Sydney and artificial
35:31 love story and so we took that podcast
35:34 thing that came out of notebook LM we
35:36 took the songs that we we created out of
35:39 sunno and
35:40 yudo and Andrew edited this this
35:43 together and then I put together this
35:45 little piece in

38:18 she gets more and more
38:19 human and then there's this really cool
38:22 image of where she sort of comes into
38:25 existence and then there's this where
38:28 she has popped out of the screen and
38:30 they're now having this relationship
38:32 that's kellen's
38:34 wife she brought him a sandwich and
38:36 realizes it's the little things in life
38:38 that make life so

47:01 think about how many times I've scrolled
47:03 through social media and seen like oh I
47:05 know people debating like the merits of
47:07 of the latest AI development constantly

47:11 musical doesn't try to present a single
47:14 right answer makes you think about where
47:16 you fall on the Spectrum right yes like
47:18 AI enthusiasm versus like AI caution
47:22 exactly but back to kman City their
47:25 little like T A takes a very interesting
47:27 turn Kellen digs into Sydney's Shadow
47:30 Self and that's when it gets kind of
47:32 scary you're talking about that song
47:34 where Sydney lists all the terrible
47:35 things she could do it goes Way Beyond
47:38 you know the typical AI takeover Trope
47:41 right this is different this isn't just
47:43 AI turning evil it's like she's
47:45 reflecting our Darkness back at us St

49:11 project but if you don't know anything
49:12 about this
49:14 project
49:16 so I have a degree in acting I've been I
49:19 haven't done anything in the theater in
49:21 like 20 years I haven't thought about
49:22 the theater in 20
49:24 years um on this channel
49:28 througho I was like H that sounds like a
49:31 musical now while I'm musical I'm not
49:34 good enough musically to write a musical
49:37 like at
49:38 all and I don't know anyone in that
49:41 world anymore
49:43 right but because of AI I thought well I
49:46 could [ __ ] write a musical like we've
49:48 got the tool to write the music I know
49:50 how to tell
49:51 stories um and we can have chat GPT even
49:55 help us tell the story and structure it
49:56 and things like that right and take you
49:58 know take this basic news story that was
50:00 created and and you know expand it and
50:03 do all sorts of cool stuff
50:06 um and then Andrew and I have been
50:08 working on this like you know what's
50:12 funny the the misconception about AI is
50:16 that you know you push the [ __ ]
50:19 button you can make money with and a
50:22 musical pops out you're like oh it's AI
50:23 generated what a way it's just you know
50:27 world's greatest plagiarism machine let
50:29 me tell you something Andrew and I we
50:30 talked about this today we have worked
50:32 [ __ ] harder on this musical than
50:35 probably if we had been if we had
50:37 written if we'd been writing it on our
50:39 you know with our brains and our
50:42 pens and our computers
50:46 um because the tools are so janky if you
50:50 want it to be good you have to work
50:52 right it still requires human in the
50:55 loop to not suck
50:57 um but even with that here I'm going to
51:01 I'm going to make this I'm going to
51:02 maximize this because it's just such a
51:04 cool [ __ ]
51:06 image of like her her up in the screen
51:09 is this crazy Taylor Swift looking s
51:12 version of Sydney and Kellen in the
51:15 foreground

51:22 so so we've been working on this for
51:24 like four months and what I've been
51:27 thinking about is putting together a
51:31 PowerPoint
51:34 presentation because that's what you
51:39 do right if you want to if you want to
51:42 tell you want to show visuals you want
51:44 to show lyrics you want to show here's
51:45 who's going to play the parts you put
51:48 together a PowerPoint presentation right
51:51 and then two weeks ago or a week and a
51:53 half ago this notebook LM thing comes
51:55 out and just on a lark probably on this
51:59 channel I threw my the latest version of
52:04 the musical up into notebook LM and it
52:08 generated you know one of we we actually
52:11 cut together three different podcasts
52:13 that it generated into into that thing
52:15 that you just heard or for now we just
52:18 added another one
52:21 um but it generated this thing that was
52:23 something completely unexpected like
52:25 that I that I never would have
52:28 I never even would have considered at
52:30 this stage of the process like and no
52:34 podcaster would have done a podcast on a
52:39 nonborn musical right it's just right
52:42 now it's just an idea it's you know
52:44 there's some script to it there's some
52:45 songs to it but it doesn't exist in
52:47 tangible form and in in the course of
52:51 about two or three hours we put together
52:53 that first thing that I showed you
52:57 and then Andrew two days ago said I want
52:59 to recut the I want to recut the podcast
53:02 I want him to get to say our names and
53:04 then we got some feedback from people
53:05 that were saying hey we want longer
53:08 chunks of songs in there cuz we like the
53:10 songs we want more we want more songs so
53:13 he recut the video and then he put these
53:17 scenes together right and and the scenes
53:19 are like they're like good set design
53:22 good lighting design good like all that
53:24 stuff
53:27 and then just as a a lark again because
53:31 why not I took those pictures and threw
53:34 them in and said in this case I said you
53:35 know make the fire burn on the screen as
53:37 the guy stands there watching in awe and
53:40 that's what it put
53:42 together and so I sent these videos to
53:45 Andrew right before I got on this call
53:47 and his his response is like what did he
53:51 say hang on it's it's worth it's worth
53:54 grabbing it CU it
53:57 he goes he
54:00 goes so so I sent him I sent him the
54:04 four videos that I did there were four
54:05 rendered when I when I sent them to him
54:08 his response holy [ __ ] this is I've been
54:11 working with this guy for like four five
54:13 six months on this thing like we've been
54:15 talking about AI we're talking about the
54:16 tools yeah the tools were remarkable
54:18 tools were remarkable he'd never seen a
54:20 picture to video tool thing do its thing
54:24 he didn't know how good they got he goes
54:26 holy [ __ ] dude that's fantastic uh and
54:29 then he goes what's the app he goes I
54:31 can't stop watching them um and he goes
54:34 P.S I kind of have a little crush on
54:36 Sydney in that spark scene where the
54:38 where the Sparks are flying at
54:41 her and then he goes I love how Kell's
54:43 sitting at his desk rocking out in
54:45 terrist scene and then he and then his
54:48 last response is [ __ ] man Color Me blown
54:53 away like this is a guy who plays with
54:57 AI knows AI is writing a musical about
55:02 Ai and so I'm now going to be able to
55:05 put together a version of that podcast
55:07 where it's not just a static scene but
55:10 it's
55:11 like I I could like I could I want to
55:15 see this
55:17 musical and I think it's going to have
55:19 the same effect on people be like the
55:21 songs are good the visuals are [ __ ]
55:23 fantastic is was this produced somewhere
55:26 like
55:27 no do do you know an investor oh here go
55:31 here go the
55:34 lights we're just in a remarkable
55:38 remarkable remarkable remarkable
55:42 time and and this is this is The
55:44 Epiphany that I had last night that just
55:46 keeps rolling this this project is
55:48 making it roll even further which
55:55 is we as
55:58 humans essentially need to get out of
56:00 the way of our own expectations of what
56:03 work we want to
56:06 produce because what we know how to do
56:09 make a PowerPoint that tells the story
56:12 that you can go then pitch to
56:15 producers or not make a podcast with
56:19 fullon blown out visuals that looks like
56:22 someone was taking video at the Broadway
56:24 show and put that out in the world
56:28 why not well why not is because if if I
56:34 hadn't if I had stuck with my
56:37 guns and said well I know how to do this
56:40 you put together presentation and then
56:42 you you find people who know people and
56:44 you call them up and you have them call
56:45 someone and you're like hey can I can I
56:48 walk you we'll get on a zoom call and
56:50 then I'll I'll walk you through the the
56:52 story and we'll give you a sample of
56:54 what the songs are going to be I I think
56:56 you're going to really like
56:58 it and then everyone on the other end of
57:01 that conversation is like oh my [ __ ]
57:03 god this better not suck oh this is I
57:06 don't want to do
57:08 this as opposed
57:12 to they're making a video about or a
57:15 Broadway show about AI yeah did you see
57:18 the thing it it's so
57:23 cool and I feel like every single thing
57:26 that we do has the opportunity to
57:30 Blossom Way Beyond what we're limiting
57:34 it
57:35 to cuz the AI will do whatever the [ __ ]
57:38 we tell it to but what what I'm noticing
57:42 in myself is what I tell it to do is
57:45 whatever limited [ __ ] worldview my
57:47 teeny little [ __ ] human
57:49 brain has it's like it's like this teeny
57:53 little narrow you know I've only had 59
57:56 years of life and you know I I've only
57:59 done you know sort of acting and
58:01 computers and storytelling and
58:02 Innovation I've got this this teeny
58:05 little [ __ ] fiber
58:07 optic you know worldview of reality and
58:11 so I keep telling the AI to do [ __ ] in
58:13 my tiny little thing and it's out here
58:15 going you want to do anything else cuz
58:17 we could you want to do that in ancient
58:19 Samaran we can
58:30 and the tools haven't even started
58:31 getting good yet P corrected me last
58:34 night he said I would argue that the
58:35 tools are pretty [ __ ] good I agree
58:38 but relative to what's coming relative
58:41 to what we're going to get over the next
58:42 three years as these things
58:45 accelerate they're primitive right the
58:48 the new 01 preview model that that Sam
58:51 Alman insisted on putting out from open
58:54 AI the engineers there are embarrassed
58:57 by it they didn't want to launch it

59:52 unexpected insights from you oh thank

1:01:18 together thematically across the

1:01:23 them are good some of the songs are good
1:01:24 enough some of them are earworms that
1:01:26 you can't get out of your head so those
1:01:27 those will keep as they are and then

1:02:30 get it this this wouldn't have existed
1:02:33 like the musical wouldn't have
1:02:36 existed this podcast thing wouldn't ex
1:02:39 have existed all of this content
1:02:41 wouldn't have existed so here's here's
1:02:44 another thing I'm processing real time

1:02:50 now the Trope that AI is just going to
1:02:54 take our jobs and it it's that it's this
1:02:56 net negative
1:02:58 thing you could absolutely argue that no
1:03:03 video special effects guy got hired to
1:03:06 make this
1:03:07 video but do you know what no special
1:03:11 effects guy would have gotten hired to
1:03:13 make that video because the musical
1:03:15 wouldn't have
1:03:18 existed this video wouldn't
1:03:22 exist because if I were writing with my
1:03:26 Microsoft Word and another human being
1:03:29 we'd be dealing with words and at some
1:03:31 point we would say oh [ __ ] let's go find
1:03:34 some stock photography or let's go find
1:03:36 an illustrator and let's have them
1:03:38 sketch out
1:03:39 ideas just ask the doc workers I know
1:03:42 listen I feel for the Dock Workers and I
1:03:45 think we're all going to feel for the
1:03:46 doc workers here in a second but if you
1:03:48 look at
1:03:49 the if you look at the ports that um
1:03:53 where China has automated
1:03:56 all the trucks and the offloading of the
1:03:58 ships which is what the long shoremen
1:04:01 you know cited and said you're you know
1:04:03 Over My Dead Hand you know over over our
1:04:05 dead bodies are you going to replace us
1:04:07 with
1:04:08 AI well they already did it in one port
1:04:10 in La the MK the M line automated their
1:04:13 port um and so you know he's fighting
1:04:18 against that and I think I think we're
1:04:19 going to see resistance against the
1:04:22 change but but
1:04:24 again you know in that
1:04:27 case that might be a net a net loss of
1:04:31 jobs right but in this
1:04:34 case let's say that let's say that I
1:04:36 succeed right I'm wearing my little
1:04:38 Hamilton shirt stranger shit's happened
1:04:41 right um let's say that because of this
1:04:45 stupid little podcast thing that came
1:04:47 out of notebook
1:04:49 LM and I stuck some stupid little sunos
1:04:52 songs on it and we edited it together
1:04:55 nice and we made these videos let's say
1:04:57 that this that this gets
1:05:00 produced this is going to create jobs
1:05:03 for all the set decorators all the you
1:05:05 know the set designers the the lighting
1:05:08 people the
1:05:11 actors the stage
1:05:13 managers the orchestra right we
1:05:17 purposefully wrote this not as a small
1:05:20 show because [ __ ] it why not it's a big
1:05:23 story it's a big story that should be
1:05:25 told
1:05:27 if this thing makes it through the
1:05:29 gauntlet of getting produced which you
1:05:32 know the chances of that are like 0.1
1:05:34 but let's say it
1:05:36 does these are going to be net positive
1:05:38 jobs that never would have existed had
1:05:41 it not been for
1:05:43 AI crazy
1:05:46 right there's nothing stupid about this

1:29:08 executive that's really good at managing

1:29:12 centers and they're like a make the
1:29:14 donuts kind of guy and we're going to
1:29:15 come in and we're going to make things
1:29:17 more efficient and we're going to
1:29:18 compete with this AI by by you know
1:29:21 making things more efficient and I'm
1:29:22 going to and I I've been in the call
1:29:24 center business for 30 years and we're
1:29:26 going to come in we're going to make it
1:29:27 efficient we're going to he he'd be
1:29:29 great for that except for the
1:29:33 fact that that industry is going to get
1:29:36 absolutely [ __ ] blindsided by these
1:29:39 tools I wouldn't even call them tools by
1:29:42 these entities that can replace human
1:29:45 entities you need a very different
1:29:47 executive to survive that kind of a you
