8:54 actual people that were there so yeah

8:59 down for a bit I wowed my mother-in-law

18:42 talked about that stuff so if you said

18:47 like a seven-year-old it would build
18:49 like a course
18:51 curriculum in a few seconds with
18:54 screenshots of websites that had you
18:56 know interactive tools or whatever
18:58 graphics or something like that so it
19:00 looked pretty slick but I haven't played
19:02 with it so hey quick response wait quick

19:07 important AI impact that got you

19:19 H I have
19:22 two so when I finally got in like fall
19:26 of
19:27 2022 I got stable diffusion up and
19:29 running and then I got this thing called
19:32 dream
19:33 Booth trained on so so dream Booth
19:36 within stable diffusion you could upload
19:39 photographs of yourself or whatever you
19:41 could upload photographs and make a
19:43 model that
19:45 would do wacky versions of you in my
19:48 case and
19:50 so so I was making a lot of images with
19:53 stable
19:54 diffusion and then when I got dream
19:56 Booth installed I was making a lot of
19:58 images of
20:00 me like like kind of weird
20:03 self-portraits
20:06 and like there was like this weird
20:10 vicarious thing going where I was like
20:12 seeing myself but in a different
20:15 reality and I was like that's kind of
20:17 cool like I want to know the story of
20:20 that version of me like is it a parallel
20:25 universe was it me that just made
20:28 different choices
20:30 and I was also kind of getting bored of
20:32 just making lots of images and
20:35 so the minute I had that idea of like oh
20:38 these are these are all of these
20:40 versions of me have their own
20:42 stories and so I came up with this idea
20:45 of an art project called Kyle Shannon
20:46 dreams so if you go to
20:48 Instagram uh Kyle Shannon dreams or if
20:51 you go to Tik Tok Kyle Shannon dreams
20:54 you can see some of those characters and
20:55 I wrote little stories from for them and
20:58 on Tik Tok I recorded those stories so
21:01 you can hear me acting them so that the
21:04 first one was just kind of the idea
21:08 that with minimal
21:11 input you could
21:21 have you could you could have an
21:24 artistic output for lack of a better
21:26 term right so normally if you want to
21:29 artistic output like if you want to live
21:30 up to your own taste you have to put in
21:33 a lot of time and a lot of effort and
21:36 and you couldn't just throw together a
21:39 project like Kyle Shannon dreams and so
21:42 the per first Epiphany for me was
21:45 minimal in maximal out and that was like
21:49 that's that's really interesting but it
21:52 didn't it didn't completely sort of
21:54 shatter my reality the second one was
21:57 the one that shattered my reality so
21:59 chat GPT came out on November 30th 2022
22:03 and it's funny I've been playing with
22:04 gpt3 on the open AI playground and I
22:07 kind of knew something was coming
22:09 and I didn't think it would be any
22:11 different and then chat GPT comes out
22:14 and it just felt different like it just
22:17 felt like it had its [ __ ] together a bit
22:21 more
22:22 than the backend tools right which makes
22:25 sense right cuz it's a it's it's an
22:27 application built
22:29 on and so the big thing for me was about
22:33 a week after chat GPT came out without
22:36 ever having written a line of python in
22:39 my life still to this
22:41 day I wrote a functional fully
22:44 functional python
22:47 application that asked a user for a
22:49 topic and then asked three follow-up
22:52 questions and then generated five pieces
22:55 of social media with API calls to open
22:57 AI
22:59 to to have it generate that
23:03 content and that's when it that's when
23:07 it actually hit me oh [ __ ] the world
23:10 just changed but no one knows it yet so
23:13 th those were the two for
23:15 me
23:16 so yeah I'm curious what what everyone
23:20 else has like what was your what was
23:21 your moment
23:22 where whether it was your Kevin
23:24 mallister Mo like I I had a I had a
23:27 bunch of moments that I was like oh wow
23:29 that's interesting but those two moments
23:31 the the moment of
23:33 like with minimal minimal input you get
23:37 maximum output and then the idea that I
23:40 can have zero skills in something and
23:44 still accomplish it like still
23:46 accomplish the task even if I've got
23:48 zero
23:49 skills that that kind of shook my world
23:52 because what what that said to me is
23:56 um this is not just
24:00 computers being more efficient right
24:02 like I guess I guess for me that python
24:07 application I
24:12 understood I understood how profound it
24:16 was the the G in
24:18 GPT
24:21 generative like people just say that oh
24:23 yeah generative pre-train Transformer
24:25 yeah it generates it
24:27 generates that's [ __ ] remarkable it
24:32 generates it's not just showing you [ __ ]
24:35 that it had before it's generating
24:39 something
24:40 new and so when I understood that I got
24:45 that we're not going to use computers
24:47 the way we used to use computers where
24:49 you had to think about the logic of how
24:52 you wanted the computer to
24:56 behave those days are gone just most
24:59 people don't know it

28:29 create a thin outline outside of each
28:32 letter to pop it out more and it was
28:34 like cool and then decided today wait a
28:38 second we can actually make a watermark
28:40 make a watermark oh that's so cool so
28:42 now what so now what everybody can do is
28:45 go to that GPT it's in the AI Salon in
28:47 the GPT section okay and uh there you
28:52 it's an image Creator as well and I've
28:54 given you a whole bunch of different
28:55 images image making things from realist
28:58 to painterly to Graffiti to acostic to
29:01 made of ceramic to made of sculpture all
29:03 these different kind of ways nice create
29:06 your image tell it what you want then
29:08 under each image so I also have a
29:10 problem opening up web pages I can't see
29:13 them on my computer MH so not only can
29:16 you will it then ask you for your first
29:19 and last name and that's going to insert
29:23 that into the copyright symbol
29:26 2024 your name's going to go in there
29:29 and the All Rights Reserved is going to
29:31 go in there it's going to fit on the
29:33 bottom section of the image toward the
29:35 bottom
29:36 right it's going to have that back
29:38 transparency to it as well and it's also
29:42 going to then create two at least two
29:45 images in addition to the image it
29:46 normally creates and it's going to be a
29:48 JPEG that you can have it have the
29:51 copyright Watermark and another jpeg
29:54 image that doesn't have the copyright
29:57 image

30:02 one and a copywritten one that's right
30:04 so it doesn't show you them but it gives
30:05 you a link yeah so the one that has the
30:08 copyright you you can decide what size
30:10 you want do you want it 72 DPI do you

30:17 the one that doesn't have the copyright
30:19 you can say do you want it 72p do you
30:21 want it 300 DPI what size do you want it
30:24 do you want it 14 by 14 in do you want
30:26 it 3x3 in so now I can create an actual
30:30 image that I can use outside of the size
30:34 that the web pages like holy holy holy
30:37 holy I'm a Potter un well I was just
30:40 gonna say like this is so so for those
30:42 of you that are new here first of all if
30:44 you don't know Corey Sandler Corey
30:46 Sandler Pottery you need to go follow
30:48 her she's remarkable she's a remarkable
30:50 artist but she's turning into an
30:53 outright software
30:56 developer while she's figuring out how
30:58 to do art with AI and with gpts I mean
31:01 that's that's a really sophisticated
31:03 thing you're doing there and it's it it
31:05 really does point
31:06 to we're we're we're and and we're so at
31:10 the at the front end of this that we're
31:12 really at this place where you can just
31:14 sort of say here's what I would like it
31:17 to do and it doesn't take much to have
31:20 it do that it's remarkable so I also
31:22 want to to absolutely acknowledge the
31:25 fact that I was on the on the on the
31:26 zoom call today with James hoan thanner
31:29 which also is James Detroit here oh cool
31:32 and the two of us were kind of going
31:34 over this stuff now I ended up having to
31:36 spend about you know four hours or so
31:39 creating the GPT and figuring it out
31:41 yeah didn't all didn't all go seamlessly
31:43 and I did a couple of different
31:44 iterations to try and simplify it also
31:47 and I didn't like the simplified
31:49 version interesting so I wanted every
31:52 image to have those two options and I
31:54 wanted you to be able to choose a size
31:57 that's so cool it's like for me as an
32:00 Image Maker it for me it is now
32:04 lifechanging I know that sounds a little
32:06 overinflated but it's lifechanging for
32:09 me yeah so that's just very cool that's
32:12 so cool yeah because because you could
32:13 create a workflow or you pop it into
32:15 Photoshop and have the layers in there
32:16 and do that but that's a pain in the ass
32:18 if you can just generate the image and
32:20 then go give me the version with the
32:21 watermark on it that's that's awesome
32:24 yeah so now so the the the deal is when
32:26 you make an image it is inherently
32:30 copywritten however we live in a world
32:33 that it's not so this is I mean is it
32:36 protection it's a little bit of a it
32:40 just says hey I made this this is when I
32:43 made this I think it also says hey I'm a
32:45 professional right I'm a professional
32:47 and you're welcome to mess with me but
32:49 you know do so at your own risk right
32:51 your own your own per really cool yeah
32:54 so like I have a company right now that
32:55 I'm sort of talking to about licensing
32:57 some of my work and I didn't want to
32:59 send them my work without having a
33:02 copyright notification on it and so this
33:05 is just a really easy way for me to do
33:07 it at the native stage as opposed to
33:09 taking a whole bunch of time like you
33:12 say doing an automation which is a whole
33:14 other thing that I've learned but yeah
33:16 okay I'll get off now so you can talk
33:17 about the rest of your day and
33:18 everything else but I'm so no no I'm
33:20 gonna actually probably talk about this
33:22 and just show people how to go find what
33:24 you just talked about oh I would love it
33:25 if you did a little view of it because
33:27 then people can see and there's a lot of
33:29 questions about how and what to do okay
33:32 there's a really what I'll probably do
33:34 at some point is um is alive to show
33:37 that you can do it very complex as as
33:40 the questions it's asking or you can
33:43 just bypass all of that and say the name
33:46 that the that the copyright for is Corey
33:48 Sandler I want the jpeg with the
33:52 notification for whatever for the
33:54 watermark to be a 72 DPI cuz I don't
33:57 care I'm only going to use it online
33:59 yeah and the other one the jpeg because

34:10 I've created which I think is pretty
34:12 cool is I can upload an

41:19 going to be able to express themselves

41:24 like like right now actually so so
41:28 in the 90s in in 1991 I got tired
41:34 of all right it looks like it did
41:37 it I got tired of acting for free and I
41:40 thought I know I'll write myself an
41:42 acting career so I wrote seven
41:44 screenplays in two years like you know
41:47 you've seen that when I put my mind to
41:49 Something in here I just [ __ ] do it
41:51 right so I did that there and it
41:55 took probably a month and a half
41:58 half to just figure out how to write a
42:01 screenplay right go to the go to the
42:03 bookstore you know oh sorry books are
42:06 these things with paper in them and
42:09 you'd go to this store that had lots of
42:11 these binders with paper and all in
42:14 inside all the binders of paper were
42:17 words and so you would you would I
42:19 bought like seven different books on
42:21 writing screenplays and it you know in
42:24 two years I
42:25 wrote seven of these things
42:28 and then you have to get other people to
42:31 produce them and if you knew someone
42:32 talented and if you had money then you
42:34 could maybe do something but you know
42:36 you needed to raise Millions we're
42:38 entering an era where I could have that
42:41 same idea for that
42:43 screenplay write the
42:46 screenplay visualize the screenplay
42:48 write dialogue for the screenplay create
42:50 characters for the screenplay right
42:52 we're we're less than two years out from
42:55 being able to just either take something
42:57 you wrote in the
42:59 past or just give it a [ __ ] idea and
43:03 have it go do stuff for you so imagine
43:07 all of the people who in their life
43:13 know that they aren't going to be able
43:15 to accomplish dream a b or c because
43:19 they don't have the talent they gave it
43:21 up to have kids what whatever it is
43:23 right they they they don't have the
43:25 resources to be able to go to school to
43:27 learn how to program to be able to get
43:29 themselves out of the shitty job they
43:31 hate all of a sudden
43:34 overnight human beings are going to have
43:36 access to
43:39 capabilities that let them realize all

47:55 that she connected with to figure out
47:57 how to to do this

48:02 who this community is curiosity is one
48:04 of them right this isn't a cynical Bunch
48:07 this is a bunch like oh how do we do
48:08 that how do I do that wait what if what
48:10 if you could add a watermark to an image
48:12 that I created and do that right in
48:14 GPT and you know what's amazing here's
48:16 what's really amazing she could do that
48:19 in chat GPT on her own and not tell any
48:22 of us about it but not only did she
48:24 figure it out she put it in the GPT and
48:27 shared it with the world which goes to
48:29 our next value of

48:39 exploration like there's got to be a
48:42 better way could I add a watermark

49:37 out understand where people are
49:39 understand that people might not be as
49:41 excited as you are or you might be the
49:42 one who's not excited and wouldn't it be
49:45 nice to be in a community where someone
49:47 just doesn't just call you a jerk and go
49:49 oh well you should love AI you big dum
49:51 dum but they actually say well wait what
49:53 are you what are you afraid about hey
49:55 can I can I walk you through how this
49:57 actually works cuz it might make you
49:59 feel less scared or can I show you
50:01 something really interesting that's kind
50:02 of the opposite of what your fear is oh
50:05 okay wouldn't that be nice wouldn't it
50:08 be nice to live in a world we where we
50:10 don't just demonize and hate each other
50:12 that'd be swell that's empathy is the
50:15 key to that one and then gratitude right
50:16 the fact that she acknowledged Frank for

50:24 kind of who's here and and what we're up

50:29 and then um the area that she shared
50:32 that so there's a there's an area called
50:35 Community where you can introduce

55:06 and resources if you go to AI tools and
55:08 resources there's a list
55:10 here
55:13 that I think maybe on average two times
55:16 a night I talk about this list and I
55:19 talk about this is a list that I
55:21 maintain I haven't updated it in a
55:24 bit but the very first tool on the list
55:28 right now is chat GPT and it seems
55:32 innocent enough there's a couple of
55:33 bullet points here for the free version
55:36 of it and then there's some bullet
55:38 points down here for the paid version of
55:40 it
55:42 right
55:45 and one of these bullet points is code
55:48 interpreter and it says code interpreter
55:51 Advanced Data analysis uses python to
55:55 analyze data generate graphs and
55:57 generate new
56:00 documents that doesn't seem like
56:04 something that would be relevant to
56:07 making an
56:08 image but that's the tool that Corey's
56:11 using to generate that
56:15 Watermark and even though you know she
56:20 she had you know this collaborative
56:22 conversation maybe with with someone
56:24 that said here's how you use that or
56:26 here's how you might use that to do your
56:28 thing she she had a problem she wanted
56:31 to
56:33 solve and knowing that chat GPT could do
56:36 things like generate documents that it
56:39 could do things like you know create
56:43 objects and
56:45 analyze
56:47 files then she can combine that with
56:52 dolly3 and create the GPT she just
56:55 created so that's like
56:57 her GPT is using two of the seven or
57:00 eight bullet points of what GPT 4 makes
57:03 possible so when I talk about you should
57:05 be playing with these tools playing with
57:08 like if you haven't played with all of
57:10 the bullet points in this list you
57:13 should go do it and and if if you're if
57:17 you're an artist if you're a
57:19 ceramist you may look at something like
57:21 Advanced Data analysis and just put it
57:25 out of hand right like oh well that's
57:26 not for me I'm an artist I'm going to
57:28 make I'm going to make images
57:31 here but she was willing to go beyond
57:33 that and because of that she created
57:35 this amazingly powerful tool we've all
57:37 got that opportunity but you have to
57:39 know what's possible right and the only
57:41 way to know what's possible is to play
57:43 with it because there's no manuals it's
57:45 changing all the time and and I
57:48 guarantee you if someone writes a book
57:50 which they will just on code
57:53 interpreter most of what this is going
57:55 to be about is data analys is you take a
57:57 CSV file and you put it in here and you
57:59 find the trends and the data and you
58:01 clean up the data and you do this with
58:02 the data and you do and then maybe
58:05 somewhere in the last half of some
58:07 chapter oh and by the way you can do
58:09 stuff with image
58:12 analysis this use case that she came up
58:14 with is completely novel and interesting
58:17 and a data analyst probably would never
58:20 even get anywhere near that
58:23 solution because it's not a problem
58:25 they're solving
58:27 it's a problem an artist would solve
58:29 right but it happens to be an artist
58:32 that's willing to look beyond the pretty
58:36 pictures which is just [ __ ]
58:39 amazing although I do kind of say that
58:42 Corey has a bit of an advantage because
58:44 she understands things like like glazing
58:48 temperatures and and all all of the
58:51 science of making glazes there's a lot
58:53 of Science in what she does so I have a
58:57 m m Sandler is is a is a we Tad geekier
59:00 than she uh she lets on on the surface
59:03 she she got some things cooking

1:02:29 published a musical using
1:02:32 sunno and so by playing you'll stumble

1:02:40 there's a course there's a there's a a
1:02:43 sub Guild called Pete peteza AI 101 so I
1:02:47 don't want to confuse it with that but

1:02:52 there but it's just like like how do you
1:02:56 how do how do you learn how to learn or

1:03:14 someone today that's absolutely 100% an

1:24:34 well um but I think just in terms of
1:24:37 quality of writing chat gp4 is still the
1:24:40 still the best but but even chat
1:24:43 gp4 it tends to
1:24:48 to it just
1:24:51 adds flourishes that are just cliche
1:24:55 shitty so you have to like you just have
1:24:58 to assume with any of these tools that
1:25:01 what you're going to get when you write
1:25:02 with it is 80% of what you need at best
1:25:07 and the last mile is up to you and also
1:25:11 don't don't set the expectation for
1:25:14 yourself that it's just going to be able
1:25:15 to you're just going to be able to put
1:25:16 it in and it's going to generate a book
1:25:18 that's usable it's going to be much more
1:25:20 back and forth cuz for one thing the
1:25:23 context window on these tools is is
1:25:26 really small relatively where you'll be
1:25:28 talking with chat GPT and then it just

1:45:24 got a vertical tab thing for Chrome and
1:45:27 then I can see the whole word and so I
1:45:30 can either go visually from my tabs
1:45:32 across the top or I can go words up and
1:45:34 down the side Gemini and cro in
1:45:38 Chrome can help you tab hord oh that's
1:45:41 interesting yeah I haven't played with
1:45:43 Gemini inside Chrome I haven't really
1:45:45 played with it that much and maybe
1:45:47 that's
1:45:47 because I've got so so one of the issues
1:45:50 with chrome well not Chrome one of the
1:45:52 issues with
1:45:55 Google is that they are all kinds of
1:45:59 [ __ ] up confused about all their
1:46:02 different products so they've got this
1:46:04 thing called workg Group which is you
1:46:09 pay as a bus to have a group of accounts
1:46:13 that can share documents and [ __ ] like
1:46:15 that and how they manage Gemini within
1:46:18 that is completely different than how
1:46:20 they handle it for individual accounts
1:46:23 and and so they call it different names
1:46:26 it's just all over the place and so yeah
1:46:29 I don't ever know which of my accounts
1:46:33 has access to which of the features so I
1:46:35 tend to just ignore it until something
1:46:38 comes along like like Gemini 1.5 Pro or
1:46:41 Pro 1.5 that I'll figure figure out how
1:46:45 to use because that seems markedly
1:46:47 better than some other [ __ ] on the
