FABLE AI Is BACK: Government Control Failed! 🤯

1. 0:00Tonight's going to be a fun night. We're going to play with Fable. Fable, if you don't know, is the Anthropic big sexy AI model that the
2. 0:09government said was too powerful. Well, first Anthropic said it was too powerful for mere mortals to use. And then they launched it and uh
3. 0:21one of their biggest investors jailbroke it and turned them into the government. >> [laughter] >> So So the government kept it under lock
4. 0:29and key for 2 weeks uh using export controls and uh it's back. So we're going to play with that. Fable has been made safe safe
5. 0:41um with with safety guardrails. But they're they're basically the same model, but Mythos or Fable just has a
6. 0:48lot more safety guardrails on it. And since being unquarantined from the government, it's got some fairly
7. 0:54significant safety guardrails on it that people are already complaining about. Um >> [clears throat] >> So a couple of things happening.
8. 1:02Starting at the beginning of the year the tone of Dario Amodei, the CEO of Anthropic, and to a degree the tone of
9. 1:12Sam Altman started to shift. Um and it kind of started to shift toward the end of 2025. It really got
10. 1:20cooking in the first couple of months of 2026. That they just all started talking about superintelligence
11. 1:34not AGI, artificial general intelligence, and the distinction of those they're sort of generative AI, what we've been playing with for 3 and
12. 1:411/2 years. AGI is this sort of mythical moment in time where the AI models get strong enough that they can basically do the work as
13. 1:51good or better than most humans at most economically viable jobs. That's AGI. And then artificial super intelligence
14. 2:00is where these things just get smarter than humans all together. So, they started shifting talking about instead of talking about AGI, they
15. 2:10were talking about artificial super intelligence. That that clearly something had happened within the labs that they hit a different level.
16. 2:18When Mythos came out 2 months ago, month and a half ago, I think it was 2 months ago. Anthropic said, um this model is so powerful
17. 2:30that it can essentially find any vulnerability in any computer system. And so, we're not going to let you have it.
18. 2:37And everybody griped and bitched and things like that. And then they they gave access to I think it was 52 companies that have
19. 2:46computer software infrastructure to allow them to use Mythos to find the vulnerabilities and patch them before
20. 2:54they release it live to the world. And then about 2 and 1/2 weeks ago they released Fable, which is which was the sort of safety-ized
21. 3:02version of Mythos that we could all play with. And we played with it for 3 days and then on Friday of 2 weeks ago, so I guess 2 and
22. 3:131/2 weeks ago um the government issued an export control on that model. And so Anthropic had to take it down.
23. 3:25So, it's been gone. So, a couple of things are going on. >> [sighs and gasps] >> There are a bunch of different philosophies
24. 3:39on how you take a powerful model and make it safe for the world. You know, one of them is you don't ever let anyone use it. Sam Altman
25. 3:52has been fairly consistent with OpenAI that his philosophy is slowly release features of these new models over time
26. 4:03and allow the public and business to understand what they make possible and get used to them over time. Dario Amodei
27. 4:14quit OpenAI. So, Dario Amodei was one of the founders of OpenAI and he quit it to start Anthropic. >> Watch the full replay at
