0:55 sometimes what it feels like is I'm
0:58 sitting in an office talking to a phone

1:05 um but yeah if you have questions about

1:14 let's see I I played with some uh what
1:18 do you call it I played with uh
1:21 the new beta version of oh thank you I
1:24 appreciate that I'm not talking to
1:26 myself

1:28 I played with the beta version of
1:30 Photoshop that's got this new generative
1:33 fill thing in it and it's pretty
1:35 remarkable I wonder I don't have
1:37 anything on this computer
1:39 but I wonder if I did I email it to
1:41 someone oh no I posted it on LinkedIn
1:43 let me show you
1:51 um
1:53 things Denver
1:56 um I gave a speech at creative mornings
1:59 last month and they just put together
2:00 this really nicely edited video
2:02 of me talking about comparing the
2:06 the birth of the world wide web with the
2:08 birth of chat gbt and and putting those
2:11 things together so if you uh if you go
2:13 to LinkedIn Dave momper
2:16 is the guy that's the host of the Denver
2:18 group and if you look him up or just
2:21 look up uh creative mornings Denver
2:22 you'll probably see a video in there
2:25 that's me giving a speech about a month
2:27 ago on this stuff but anyway check out
2:33 and this cool thing
2:36 so the the little image on the left is
2:41 the original Genesis image from
2:45 um from Kyle Shannon dreams my art
2:47 project
2:49 and then the image on the right with
2:51 like all of that expansive stuff that
2:53 was all generated using Photoshop
2:57 generative AI so you basically put a big
3:00 border around the small image and you
3:03 just start describing what you want in
3:04 the background so I put like you know
3:06 dystopian Smoke Stack and you know
3:09 dystopian City and
3:11 um I I put a thing for the little ID tag
3:14 on his chest and things like that so I
3:17 played with that today that was pretty
3:18 cool so
3:20 um like
3:22 what struck me about
3:25 the generative AI being so seamlessly
3:28 incorporated into
3:30 Photoshop is that these tools are
3:34 literally going to be everywhere yeah
3:36 Isn't that cool Emilio's
3:38 um it's um
3:41 it yeah they're just going to become
3:44 ubiquitous like right now it it feels
3:46 like chat GPT is this thing off to the
3:48 side and that's all anyone's talking
3:50 about in fact that's the URL for chat
3:52 gbt if you're new to
3:55 um generative Ai and you haven't played
3:56 with chat gbt
3:58 um that's I what I've been talking about
4:00 lately is just go there I don't get paid
4:02 this is just the official chat GPT site
4:05 uh futurepedia.io below it is uh just a
4:08 list of a bunch of different AI tools
4:10 that'll make your head explode but
4:12 Chachi PT just go start playing with it
4:14 if you haven't
4:17 um yeah no I know Emilio's wife I I
4:19 didn't say the wife before so anyway I
4:21 do appreciate you being here and um
4:24 but anyway the the the uh the thing that
4:27 struck me today is just how ubiquitous
4:29 this stuff's gonna be so any work that
4:32 you do right now getting curious
4:34 educating yourself figuring out how to
4:36 make an image or figuring out how to
4:39 um
4:40 um you know do something with chat GPT
4:44 um is is it's going to pay dividends
4:46 because
4:47 um because everyone's gonna have to
4:48 figure this stuff out because it's just
4:50 going to be everywhere
4:51 um so if you have questions about
4:52 generative AI pop them in there

4:55 I uh I have set a goal of 13 subscribers

5:24 pretty cool

6:01 CPT I was sitting watching TV and I was
6:03 just kind of absolutely minded
6:05 absent-mindedly playing with chat EBT
6:08 and the whatever the TV show was boring
6:11 the crap out of me and um
6:14 and I just I said oh write me some code
6:16 and then I said oh make it do this oh
6:19 teach me how to use this like I didn't
6:21 know how to run the code
6:23 um and uh within 90 minutes I'd written
6:25 a significant python application so even
6:28 just in your spare time Emilio's wife
6:31 um you know start playing with it but
6:32 then yeah if you can dive deep dive deep
6:36 um Vegas magic guy you need help I need
6:38 help too we all need help but uh put it
6:41 put in a specific question I'll do what
6:43 I can if I can't help you I will tell
6:45 you that too I I try not to mansplain
6:48 stuff like Chachi BT does my shirt is
6:51 almost impossible to read this text
6:52 again so I'll probably be doing this so
6:54 I can read it
6:55 how can chat GPT make me money online I
6:59 don't want to be a grunt working for a
7:01 boss I think that well so I I would lose
7:04 the
7:05 lose the goal of making money with chat
7:08 GPT the if if
7:10 do not be seduced by any of the videos
7:13 that are like you can make money Thai
7:16 don't listen to those people
7:18 they're charlatans and they're full of
7:20 [ __ ] they're probably trying to sell you
7:21 a course on on a product that's only
7:24 existed for five or six months right so
7:27 there are no experts in this right now
7:29 this is this is all
7:31 um this is new to everyone and things
7:32 are changing incredibly fast that said
7:36 um what I would say is this I would say
7:37 either take what you're passionate about
7:39 or take what you're good at
7:41 and start leaning into chat GPT to be a
7:45 think of it like a collaborative partner
7:48 with you to do that stuff so if you have
7:51 an idea to start a local business have
7:53 it teach you how to start a local
7:56 business how to Market it how to run it
7:57 how to think about your customers all
8:00 that sort of stuff if
8:02 um if you have a dream of being a writer
8:05 have it teach you to write have it you
8:07 know collaborate with it to help you
8:09 create an outline I would say just start
8:11 using it
8:12 the trick to making money with any
8:14 technology
8:16 and really with anything is is the tech
8:20 is irrelevant so chat GPT is irrelevant
8:23 in terms of
8:25 um
8:26 your ability to make money what is
8:28 relevant is are you solving a problem
8:31 that someone else or some group of
8:33 people
8:34 once solved bad enough that they're
8:36 willing to pay you for it and if you do
8:38 that then you make money
8:40 the nice thing about chat gbt is you can
8:43 experiment very very quickly
8:46 um and you can try 10 different things
8:48 and so so so
8:50 here's a here's a I put out a thing
8:53 um somewhere buried in my Tick Tock
8:55 channels is this video called the 2023
8:57 smart Challenge and so so for this is
9:00 who's the I think your your name is hi
9:04 um that's wanting to not be a grunt
9:06 working for a boss and uh and uh and
9:10 wants to know how to make money so
9:11 here's the 2023 smart challenge
9:14 there's there's three things in the
9:16 challenge the first one is do two
9:19 projects using chat GPT so one is for
9:22 you personally and one is for someone
9:23 else so the one for you personally might
9:25 be make a meal plan create a fitness
9:27 plan
9:29 um write a song write a poem whatever it
9:31 might be do something for yourself
9:32 personally but think of something that
9:34 you want to do that that you've been
9:36 thinking about that you want to do and
9:37 use chat GPT as your partner to do that
9:39 the second thing is um do a project for
9:43 someone else so it might be a community
9:44 group it might be your family it might
9:46 even be work where maybe work needs a
9:48 marketing plan maybe
9:51 um the boss doesn't know how to how to
9:52 have a difficult conversation and you
9:55 could help them and say Hey listen I'm
9:56 experimenting with this chat gbt thing
9:58 can I can I take a a shot at helping you
10:01 out here sure why not like what's What's
10:04 it gonna hurt them right
10:06 um and in doing that and having a
10:08 specific Focus you'll actually get
10:09 really good of it so that's leg one of
10:11 this three-step challenge leg two is
10:13 make ten images using
10:17 um an image generation piece of software
10:19 and the easiest cheapest freest one is
10:22 bing.com create
10:25 so if I go here and I'll jump over to
10:30 bing.com slash create I think this is
10:34 still right

10:37 um so this is the dollar and and why do
10:39 I why do I say that well you might make
10:41 these 10 images for your project so
10:43 maybe your project is a kids book and
10:45 and you're going to use these images to
10:48 put into the kids book
10:49 um so it might they might be related but
10:51 they might not
10:52 but I think everyone should experience
10:54 the absolute magic of typing in some
10:57 words of something you kind of have in
10:59 your head and then having it materialize
11:02 in front of your eyes it's it's truly
11:04 magical so that's the second leg of the
11:06 2023 Challenge and the Third Leg of the
11:09 stool is
11:11 um tell people what you're learning talk
11:13 about it
11:15 um tell them what you learned tell them
11:16 what's frustrating tell them what was
11:18 inspiring and if they ask about it show
11:20 them how to do it do it and that's the
11:22 2023 smart challenge so so the the trick
11:25 to making money with chat gbt is start
11:28 playing with it start using it and then
11:30 and then the the how you make money part
11:32 is you figure out a problem that you can
11:34 solve that people are willing to pay for
11:35 start with the problem
11:37 start with the thing you can solve start
11:39 with the thing you're passionate about
11:40 there's got to be a better way do that
11:42 thing right so that helps
11:46 um let's see prediction phone scammers
11:49 will use AI to mimic family members
11:51 voice asking for money that's already
11:53 happening it's a disaster and it's going
11:55 to get worse
11:56 in the end game get rid of cheche EBT
12:00 once it's is the end game to get rid of
12:02 chat GPT slash AI once it's fully
12:05 integrated well I don't know that
12:07 there's an end game because you've got
12:10 so you've got open AI paired with
12:13 Microsoft so Microsoft's end game is
12:15 roll it into everything they announced
12:18 yesterday that
12:21 um
12:21 that uh chat GPT they're calling it
12:25 co-pilot is going to be integrated into
12:28 Windows itself I'll play a video of it
12:31 in fact let's let's go do that now

12:37 to the dash pilot

12:51 oh this is
12:54 this is a longer thing okay here's the
12:56 here's where they're talking about it
12:58 okay I into the most valuable product
13:05 and being and our co-pilot will be built
13:08 right into your windows taskbar just
13:10 like Bing you will be able to ask
13:11 co-pilot to summarize anything on the
13:14 screen rewrite existing text and explain
13:17 anything you see on the screen it will
13:20 also be possible to adjust computer
13:21 settings using copilot the feature
13:24 starts rolling out next month next up
13:26 Microsoft is adding plug-in support for
13:28 its Microsoft all right so so that's it
13:30 there's there's other videos out there
13:33 that are that that's sort of more of a
13:34 comprehensive thing where they're
13:35 talking about other stuff but they're
13:37 rolling
13:38 um GPT into Windows itself so it's going
13:41 to be everywhere throughout Microsoft
13:43 stack but you've also got Google that
13:46 wants to incorporate Bard you've got
13:48 anthropic that's got their own model
13:50 that I don't think they've found a big
13:51 partner yet
13:53 um we haven't heard anything yet from
13:55 Apple but Apple's coming you know
13:56 Apple's coming they've got a big
13:58 announcement in two weeks at their
14:01 worldwide developer conference they have
14:02 every year and they're going to be
14:04 announcing their AR VR goggles which I
14:06 think are a big yawn although they'll be
14:08 better than medicine the co-pilot what's
14:11 happening
14:12 of all windows
14:15 sorry my machine just acted on its own
14:17 and decided to start talking
14:19 um but um
14:23 so
14:25 so you've got Apple there AWS announced
14:28 that developers are going to be able to
14:29 use a bunch of different models
14:31 including theirs so you've got all these
14:33 major players with their own large
14:34 language models so I think they all want
14:37 to compete and they want their model to
14:39 be used the most so I think you're going
14:41 to see lots and lots of models so that's
14:43 just the commercial side then you've got
14:45 the whole open source side so and I
14:47 forgot Meadow met is another one that
14:49 that they're they're rolling out a bunch
14:51 of their Technologies all of these
14:52 companies right now have been forced out
14:54 of the Shadows because of chat GPT
14:57 um
14:58 meta's large language model leaked and
15:01 now the developer Community has adopted
15:03 it and there are open source large
15:05 language models all over the place out
15:08 there so I don't
15:10 the end game kind of implies that
15:12 there's a single company that's going to
15:14 control this and I think in the past
15:15 three months what what's happened is
15:18 many horses are out of many Barns and I
15:21 so I don't think that there's any single
15:22 place that's going to kind of try to
15:24 rest control so I I think it's just
15:26 going to be everywhere it's going to be
15:28 really confusing for the next two years
15:30 I think there's just going to be
15:32 um you know 8 000 products a day you're
15:34 not going to be able to keep up with it
15:36 so just sort of you know focus on sort
15:39 of the core most simple tools like chat
15:41 GPT right now if there's a better one
15:42 I'll start talking about that
15:45 um by the way that's the URL for chat

15:50 um and then and then mid-journey stable
15:53 diffusion or Dolly um using bing bing um
15:56 just just start playing so

16:11 my place it makes me sad this is not
16:17 um okay is the end game okay I'm back

16:23 um I also see Ai and chat GPT as
16:26 horizontal key API that will be a part
16:29 of all software yeah I think that's
16:31 right in fact there's a really cool I I
16:33 saw a concept about a week ago where
16:36 they basically said that the ultimate
16:38 end game of chat gbt
16:40 is to be the everything app which is
16:43 basically
16:45 it's an app that you tell it what you
16:48 want it to do and it will just
16:50 go find a plug-in that does that or a
16:53 series of them or it will write its own
16:55 code or uh
16:58 like it will just do what you want it to
17:00 do and like we will all have this
17:02 personal app that does everything so
17:03 there won't be the App Store there won't
17:05 be you won't have to go to websites like
17:07 like the the transformation is
17:09 potentially quite profound so I agree I
17:11 think the the horizontal thing's really
17:13 interesting
17:14 um
17:15 yeah and I don't even know like I don't
17:17 even know where you play
17:20 you know with
17:21 do you specialize in particular
17:23 verticals do you go horizontal I mean in
17:25 the end these are just tools they just
17:27 happen to be tools that are so
17:28 incredibly [ __ ] powerful that they
17:32 kind of change everything
17:33 how does a magician grow
17:36 um by eating spinach I think that's what
17:39 chat GPT would tell us too you can
17:41 create a lot of things but can you
17:43 deliver on it
17:46 um
17:47 I don't know are you asking me
17:48 specifically
17:50 I've built some [ __ ] I'm 11 years into
17:53 my company storyvine and I'm completely
17:56 re-architecting that with AI so I hope I
17:58 can [ __ ] build it
18:00 I'm an artist but since AI image Jen
18:03 came out I've lost all the motivation to
18:05 make art so I totally empathize with you
18:08 I I actually I feel really bad I feel
18:10 bad for writers that are feeling like
18:12 this I I feel bad particularly for
18:15 artists because I I do not have a skill
18:18 um at Art I'm an okay designer not a
18:21 great one but I am an atrocious
18:23 illustrator
18:25 um
18:26 and all of a sudden having a tool that
18:29 just instantly does the work that might
18:31 take you a week or a month to do
18:35 um
18:35 and having people that don't have a
18:38 creative bone in their body now going
18:39 I'm an artist
18:42 um has got to be [ __ ] maddening
18:44 um that said here's here's my my theory
18:48 on it
18:50 the people doing the most interesting
18:52 work in AI right now that I see that
18:54 like that are part of the AI salon so I
18:56 started in AI Salon in December that
18:58 that's a community of people that kind
18:59 of hang out and geek out on AI we've got
19:01 a Discord server we can chat I've got a
19:03 lot of artists in there I've got a lot
19:05 of copywriters in there
19:07 um my my co-host of the salon is a
19:10 25-year photographer and she you know
19:14 she sort of
19:16 she's gone through a couple of phases
19:17 but the in the initial phase was like
19:19 well I went through the shift from film
19:21 to digital so this you know this isn't
19:23 going to be that different so she kind
19:24 of went in with this with this cool
19:26 attitude and then she figured out how to
19:28 replicate her style and she started
19:30 doing cool stuff and then
19:33 replicating her style became trivily
19:36 trivially easy and she got really bummed
19:39 out because she's like now anyone could
19:42 basically just take any one of my
19:43 pictures and replicate the style and it
19:46 bummed her out and so you know I think
19:48 she's she's in a discovery process of
19:52 you know what are these tools in her
19:54 creative process what are they in her
19:55 life so what I would encourage you to do
19:57 is like absolutely
19:59 um mourn what's going on
20:02 maybe the art stuff becomes something
20:04 you do for pleasure
20:06 um I do think that authentic art that
20:08 physical art you know authentic
20:10 in-person music that kind of stuff I
20:12 think the value of that's going to go up
20:14 in this sort of content everywhere world
20:17 but you're gonna be better at using
20:19 these tools than non-artists you're
20:21 going to be you've got you've got an eye
20:24 to be able to take some
20:26 thought in your brain and bring that
20:28 into the world and bring it to life and
20:30 so if you learn these tools I think
20:32 you're going to be better at them than
20:34 non-artists so I would encourage you to
20:38 um start exploring start getting curious
20:40 but yeah it sucks man I'm I'm very sorry
20:43 it's uh it's a bummer it like it's like
20:46 bummers too
20:48 trivial it's it this is profound [ __ ]
20:51 and and quite honestly I think we're all
20:55 going to be facing some sort of uh
20:58 you know some sort of Crisis like this I
21:00 am in my business like I'm 11 years into
21:02 my business and I'm like holy crap like
21:04 a lot of what we do right now is gonna
21:07 look
21:09 it's just gonna be valueless like it has
21:11 value today it's not going to have value
21:13 in a year and I've got to figure out
21:14 what in my business has value what
21:16 doesn't what's going to go away
21:18 um so it's rough
21:19 uh that helps a lot you're welcome uh

21:24 concerned about using it you don't need
21:26 to be concerned about using it if you're
21:28 really concerned so in chat EPT let me
21:31 jump over here and show you
21:34 um
21:35 the the the bottom setting here is
21:38 called Data controls and you can turn
21:40 off your chat history and
21:43 um training which basically means
21:45 they're not going to use anything that
21:46 you put in it for training
21:49 um if you do that and you have a long
21:51 chat history it will delete your chat
21:53 history so make sure that you export
21:56 your data first so that you get your
21:58 chat history to get you know maintain
22:00 all your prompts
22:02 um
22:03 but I wouldn't be too concerned just
22:05 start using
22:07 um start using chat GPT
22:10 um to learn what it's about don't do
22:13 critical stuff on it right now just just
22:14 learn it
22:16 um walked into a Best Buy the other day
22:18 and it's on all the new TVs what is chat
22:20 EBT or like Bing that's interesting well
22:23 chatgpt
22:25 intelligence be integrated into Androids
22:28 and will that be available to cook for
22:31 you
22:32 um
22:33 so go to that URL so on Android go to
22:39 your Chrome browser
22:40 go to that URL that's the official chat
22:43 GPT site
22:44 and then bookmark it like put the put an
22:47 icon on your screen that points to that
22:48 website so it works like an app
22:52 um the site's very very simple and it
22:54 works great on mobile so
22:56 um so I so yeah and and then I think
22:59 um I think Androids will use it as their
23:02 core intelligence well Android Androids
23:04 are going to use Bard as their core
23:06 intelligence which is the competitor to
23:07 chat gbt in my opinion it doesn't hold a
23:11 candle to it yet Bard is better at some
23:13 some of the more technical stuff
23:14 programming and math and things like
23:16 that
23:17 um but chat GPT 4 especially is just
23:20 it's just a more sophisticated language
23:22 engine so if you're doing language kind
23:24 of stuff do that chat gpt4
23:29 um you can wait for Bard for the other
23:30 stuff okay
23:32 for the first time design Trends will be
23:35 led by non-artists get ready for the end
23:37 of innovative design I one thousand
23:40 percent disagree I think that for the
23:43 first time
23:46 the power of design in the power of
23:50 powerful design has been democratized so
23:53 there will be non-designers that do
23:56 amazing work and get it out there but
23:59 creative professionals are gonna kick
24:01 ass
24:03 at using these tools and if you diminish
24:07 it or dismiss it you're gonna get left
24:09 behind and I I hate to say that
24:12 um
24:13 I think it is the absolute opposite of
24:16 of what you're predicting here I think
24:19 it is the beginning of the greatest
24:21 Renaissance we've ever seen I think we
24:24 are entering a creative age that's going
24:25 to make the renaissance renaissance La
24:27 quaint in fact the last slide I just
24:30 gave a talk today
24:32 let's see do I have it up here no of
24:34 course not
24:39 where is it uh mod Sim talk I gave a
24:43 talk
24:44 people simulation people
24:47 on Monday and my last slide is this the
24:51 great Renaissance I think we are
24:53 entering a great Renaissance because so
24:57 here's my thinking
24:59 um
24:59 yeah
25:02 if you if you're a creative and you use
25:04 these tools one of the things you
25:06 experience quickly is that you have more
25:08 ideas than you've ever had because these
25:10 tools allow you to very very quickly
25:11 iterate ideas
25:13 and then
25:14 the tools if you if you just slightly
25:17 push in One Direction or the other give
25:19 you all sorts of things you wouldn't
25:20 have thought about and then that pushes
25:22 you in New Directions and new directions
25:24 I think we're going to see an explosion
25:26 of design in architecture in fashion in
25:30 graphic design in typography in writing
25:33 I think in music I think we're going to
25:36 see just a massive explosion of
25:38 creativity so
25:39 um you may be right that because these
25:42 tools are creative all the creatives are
25:44 just going to go take a nap but here's
25:46 the deal we're [ __ ] humans we're not
25:49 just gonna sit around waiting to do
25:51 nothing we'll figure it out so anyway
25:54 do you know anything about chat GPT app
25:57 that is offered through apple is it the
25:59 same as chat.openai Okay so
26:02 that's the website so if you're on Apple
26:04 on a mobile device or an iPad that's the
26:08 website but open AI launched a
26:13 an official app
26:15 what I would do if I were you is don't
26:18 worry about
26:20 um going to the App Store Go to
26:22 openai.com
26:25 slash blog
26:29 app for iOS the second article right
26:32 here with the the crazy sort of thing
26:34 right there is a link to the App Store
26:37 go to that that's the official link to
26:40 the App Store to the official chat GPT
26:43 app
26:45 um the
26:47 good thing about the app is that it's
26:50 got whisper transcription built into it
26:52 it is an incredibly good transcriber
26:55 like way better than Apple's
26:56 transcription
26:58 um it does not have plugins it is not
27:00 connected to the web so if you're a chat
27:02 GPT plus user
27:05 you can get access to
27:07 it being connected to the web into
27:09 plugins but that only happens through
27:11 the the website itself not through the
27:13 app but that's the official app that's
27:15 how I'd get to it
27:17 chat GPT must be a dream wait oops hang
27:22 on
27:24 must be a dream to designers LOL to be
27:27 able to bring your design to life so
27:30 quickly well Chachi PT doesn't bring
27:32 designs to life but things like stable

29:45 you can just start simply like a good
29:48 way to get people to kind of get the
29:50 chat EBT is something different
29:53 you can you can have you can ask people
29:56 to like I don't know like give you a
29:58 topic
29:59 and and then you can just do crazy [ __ ]
30:02 with it so so let's say they give you
30:03 the topic
30:05 um
30:07 um playing cards okay great playing
30:10 cards so you say write an M N M rap
30:15 about play in cards right just something
30:19 stupid like that
30:21 and then it'll write a song for you with
30:24 verses and choruses and Rhymes and it
30:27 does it really quick and
30:29 people just be like uh you know wow
30:34 um but then you can start riffing on it
30:36 you can say
30:38 um make it a haiku
30:42 and then it should give us a little you
30:44 know three line whatever that is 17
30:46 syllable Haiku and now I can say
30:50 um how about
30:53 a
30:55 python
30:59 program
31:00 that Shuffles
31:04 52 cards
31:09 let's see what it does certainly
31:12 here's a
31:14 here's a simple Python program that
31:16 shuffles a DEX deck of 52 cards so so I
31:20 I think one of the things you can do
31:21 initially is is you can just you know
31:23 interact with people and and let them
31:25 experience what it's like to
31:29 just see what this thing is and and
31:32 what's possible like

31:42 why the sky is blue
31:47 um for a seven-year-old
31:53 let's see what this comes up with

31:59 so if you ever notice that the sky looks
32:01 really bright and blue during the day
32:03 well that's because of something called
32:04 scattering you see the sunlight contains
32:06 all sorts of parts so so you know just
32:09 show them that it kind of knows
32:11 everything it can kind of do everything
32:14 um
32:15 and then what I would say is start
32:17 problem solving with them so have them
32:20 give you things that they want to do in
32:22 their life well I'm trying to get a job
32:23 okay let's write a resume or I'm trying
32:26 to
32:27 um
32:28 I've got an idea for the Great American
32:30 screenplayer Great American novel okay
32:32 great let's go have it synopsize three
32:35 different screenwriting books and come
32:37 up with a story framework for us and
32:39 then we'll take that story framework and
32:41 turn that into an outline and then you
32:43 can change the outline and you know
32:45 start problem solving with them because
32:47 that's the the the the the big Epiphany
32:51 for me with chat gbt is that it's not a
32:53 Google search with a Google search
32:55 you're like I want to find this thing
32:56 you search for it and it gives you 40
32:58 crappy links you know 39 of which were
33:01 paid for and then you know somewhere
33:03 buried in there is a thing right that's
33:05 Google's business model
33:07 um but this is not that it's not just
33:09 ask it a question and get crap back it's
33:11 more like you're having this back and
33:12 forth collaborative conversation with it
33:15 and so I would say just start doing that
33:17 interactively with them and and get them
33:20 excited about it are you aware of any AI
33:22 tools that could read procedure
33:24 documents and assess how compliant they
33:26 are yeah so this so these tools are
33:29 really good at that stuff
33:32 um depending how long it is you can just
33:34 do that in in chat GPT but it's got a
33:36 4000 token limit which is basically
33:38 three thousand words
33:40 there is a new model out that anthropic
33:43 who's a competitor to open AI put out
33:46 and
33:48 it's it's actually available to you at
33:50 poe.com poe.com oops let me with their
33:55 paid subscription which I think is 20
33:57 bucks a month there's this thing called
33:58 Claude instant 100K and what that means
34:02 is it's got a hundred thousand token
34:05 context window so big so basically means
34:08 this hundred thousand tokens equals 75
34:11 000 words
34:13 you can copy and paste 75 000 words into
34:17 the chat bot and start interacting with
34:20 it ask it to summarize it for you ask it
34:23 for Salient points ask it for Case Lot
34:25 sites whatever it might be
34:27 um
34:29 so so yes you can do that if if you've
34:32 got a series of documents or if they're
34:34 longer than 75 000 words if they're
34:36 really long
34:37 um then you would probably need to use
34:39 something like Lang chain
34:42 um Lang chain is going to require a
34:43 little bit of geekiness to figure out
34:45 but here's the secret you can have chat
34:47 GPT help you figure out how to install
34:50 that [ __ ] but basically what you do
34:52 there is you kind of Point Lang chain at
34:54 directories of documents it embeds them
34:56 basically just makes them GPT friendly
34:59 and then it throws them in what's called
35:01 an embedding database a famous one's
35:03 called pine cone and so basically a fan
35:06 a fancy mathematical version of your
35:08 documents goes into Pinecone
35:10 and then you can search across multiple
35:12 documents so
35:14 um so I hope that helps that that will
35:16 the the hundred thousand K Cloud instant
35:19 is is pretty remarkable I pasted in a
35:22 transcript from one of our AI salons
35:24 which are two hours long so the
35:25 transcripts are like 55 56 Pages
35:29 um and I just pasted a 56 page document
35:32 into
35:33 um the hundred thousand k thing asked it
35:36 to summarize the meeting and it did it's
35:38 pretty remarkable it's just this this
35:41 stuff just it continues to blow my mind

38:50 I I I've heard a lot about it I meant to
38:53 check it out two days ago and then my my
38:57 flight got delayed I just I've been too
38:59 busy to check it out but from what I can
39:01 tell it looks pretty good
39:04 um I don't quite know what it is I don't
39:06 know if it's built on top of
39:09 um
39:09 openai's chat EPT or if it's a its own
39:12 thing but
39:14 um from what I can gather they seem to
39:16 be doing it quite right so I think I
39:18 think it's worth checking out there's
39:20 just so many tools right now the reason
39:22 I have that futurepedia.io is it's a um
39:26 it's a list of all all sorts of tools
39:28 there's just thousands of them now
39:30 so I'm trying to keep things limited but
39:32 perplexity is one that I definitely want
39:34 to check out I'm an RN
39:36 with a stay-at-home dad any ideas on a
39:38 side hustle with chat GPT I you know I
39:41 think there's a lot of them I think I
39:42 think as an RN
39:44 um you should definitely start exploring
39:48 um
39:50 exploring how it can help you do what
39:53 you do in in nursing or counseling or
39:56 things like that like it's incredibly
39:58 capable so it might help you do what do
40:01 some of the administrative work that you
40:03 do faster it might help you come up with
40:06 ideas for how to interact with patients
40:10 um
40:13 you know my my thought on here's the
40:16 deal
40:17 check EBT in and of itself is kind of
40:20 valueless as a it's just a tool so
40:24 a side hustle any sort of business
40:27 is you find a problem that someone has
40:30 that you can solve and if you solve it
40:32 well enough they will pay you for that
40:34 right so that's the that's sort of the
40:36 core of business is start with the
40:38 problem so I'd say start with what you
40:40 know start with what you're passionate
40:42 about
40:44 um especially if if it involves words or
40:47 images or you know sort of any variation
40:49 of those like you know I've always
40:50 wanted to I don't know help people write
40:53 their life Memoir or whatever it might
40:55 be
40:56 um that's something chat GPT could
40:58 absolutely help you you know accelerate
41:00 for people and you could teach them how
41:02 to use chat gbt so so maybe just get up
41:05 to speed on it use it for your work see
41:08 how it can augment your work and amplify
41:10 what you do professionally now and then
41:13 as you get your head around this thing
41:14 start teaching people how to use it you
41:17 know maybe
41:19 um do a class for free
41:21 um and then do one for 50 bucks and then
41:24 maybe do one for 150 bucks and you know
41:27 see if you can build a reputation as
41:29 someone who um can help people get up to
41:32 speed because here's the thing
41:34 the the
41:36 you know chat EBT went from zero to 100
41:38 100 million users in six weeks the World
41:42 Wide Web when when it was invented way
41:44 back in the 90s
41:45 um it took six years to get to 100
41:48 million users chat CPT happened in six
41:50 weeks so this stuff is coming really
41:52 fast
41:53 but a lot of people like I the the
41:56 speaking gig that I showed the video of
41:58 there were people in that audience that
42:00 hadn't heard of catch EBT yet which
42:03 blows my mind but like there's people
42:05 haven't even heard of this [ __ ] they
42:06 don't know what's coming so I think
42:07 there's a big Market out there for
42:09 people that are going to be trying to
42:10 get their heads around this so
42:13 um do you think they need a vocabulary
42:15 lesson at all do I think who needs a
42:16 vocabulary lesson I don't know I don't
42:18 know what that's in reference to
42:20 um I say I I say that about non-artists
42:23 because of what happened in the 90s when
42:25 coders also designed yeah yeah
42:28 um you know coders getting access to
42:30 photoshop in the 90s I started uh one of
42:32 the first digital agencies in 94 a
42:34 company called agency.com so we we went
42:37 through that where we had we had to some
42:40 point at some point say uh yeah you
42:42 coders we know you love Photoshop we
42:45 know you think you're good at it but
42:47 we're gonna go on ahead and make some
42:48 job responsibilities here where the
42:51 people that are good with pitches are
42:53 going to do the pitches and the people
42:55 that are good with code are going to do
42:56 the code
42:58 um I absolutely think that's coming as
43:00 well the difference here is that
43:03 um
43:04 with Photoshop you still needed design
43:07 and and uh
43:10 and and visual skill with with
43:13 generative image stuff
43:16 it's it's actually interesting there's a
43:18 guy in the AI salon so I started this AI
43:20 Salon it's a community of people you
43:22 know we sort of geek out with AI this
43:24 guy named Roger that's part of the group
43:25 he's been there from the beginning he's
43:26 a coder
43:28 um and he started geeking out on prompt
43:30 engineering mid-journey and he's
43:32 generating some of the coolest [ __ ]
43:33 art in there
43:35 um but he came at it from a complete
43:38 coding mindset and so he's experimenting
43:42 it in this really procedural way and and
43:44 like he'll just he'll just keep like
43:47 whacking at it like a coder would
43:49 because he's a coder and then he creates
43:51 these amazing images so I think there's
43:53 a slight difference here
43:55 um
43:56 I think you know creative professionals
43:59 who have you know creative director
44:02 types who've already curated lots of
44:04 work I think they're going to be
44:05 brilliant at this [ __ ] just you know
44:06 being like a conductor
44:09 um but yeah it's gonna be a mess for a
44:11 while
44:12 um if making the UI and overall design
44:15 of a site can be done with AI companies
44:17 won't bite won't hire designers or
44:19 they'll hire designers that are good at
44:21 using AI
44:23 um Paul rates or if you don't know Paul
44:25 rates or he he's the founder of the uh
44:28 AI marketing Institute or the marketing
44:30 AI Institute I forget he's which order
44:33 those two words are in
44:35 um but he he has this saying that um AI
44:37 won't take your job but someone using AI
44:40 will
44:41 and so so yeah I think I think
44:44 um start learning this [ __ ]
44:47 um don't just don't just diminish it or
44:49 poo poo it first thing I did was Haiku
44:52 what's going on here I know well it's
44:54 like because because part of the
44:56 exploration here is trying to get your
44:59 head around what what this thing
45:00 actually knows and what you find out is
45:03 it [ __ ] knows everything like it
45:05 knows a lot how does it know a lot they
45:08 trained it on a lot one of the reasons
45:10 chat EBT is better than bard
45:13 is that because because Google invented
45:15 the core technology the Transformer that
45:17 sits underneath GPT
45:20 Google invented that [ __ ]
45:22 but what openai did was they realized
45:25 that the better the data was that you
45:27 trained these model models on the better
45:28 they got so they spent years finding
45:31 data sets and data sources and they
45:34 basically trained the GPT models on all
45:37 of the internet all the public internet
45:39 you know Wikipedia blogs websites just
45:42 everything they could find databases any
45:44 anything they could get access to
45:46 um so it's been trained incredibly
45:48 deeply and then they followed that up
45:49 with training it on all the coding
45:51 languages right so it knows I don't know
45:53 60 or 80 or some god-awful amount of
45:56 coding languages so it writes code
45:58 really well they also found out when
46:00 they taught it to code the English
46:02 language or the language part of it got
46:03 dramatically better I my supposition
46:06 there is that maybe because it
46:07 understands logic of coding it now kind
46:10 of applies that to language and just
46:11 shake up better
46:13 um so so so doing things like have it
46:17 write a Haiku or write it in iambic
46:19 pentameter like Shakespeare did and it
46:21 just does or like rhyme these words or
46:23 it's just it's just mind-blowing what is
46:26 happening with my hair it's it's just
46:29 yeah I don't know what to tell you
46:32 people
46:34 should I have them write prompts yes
46:37 absolutely so you're asking about the
46:39 the the the adults yeah so so start to
46:41 teach them
46:43 um prompts so so here's a good resource
46:44 for you
46:46 um that that could be a lot of fun too
46:48 go to is it prompts.chat I think it is
46:52 prompt yeah prompts.chat so go here
46:56 and it's awesome chat GPT prompts and
46:59 then the the top of this
47:01 teaches you about
47:03 um writing effective prompts there's a
47:05 free ebook
47:07 um there's all sorts of stuff but what
47:09 this thing is is it's a long list of
47:12 prompts that you can literally copy and
47:14 paste and what these prompts do is they
47:16 they tell chatgpt to act like a certain
47:20 kind of
47:21 um expert for lack of a better term so
47:24 act as a travel guide act as an
47:26 Advertiser act as a Storyteller act as a
47:29 football commentator act as a stand-up
47:31 comedian it writes shitty jokes in my
47:32 opinion but that'll get better act as a
47:34 motivational coach right so so what you
47:38 can explore with them is as you give
47:41 Chachi P different contexts as you say
47:44 you know
47:47 um I only want you to talk like Yoda it
47:49 will only talk like Yoda in fact I made
47:51 a
47:53 um a bot on poe.com called I am Yoda so
47:58 if you go to poe.com I am Yoda it's a
48:02 Yoda bot that just talks like Yoda I
48:04 also made one called I am Shakespeare I
48:06 made one called what have I done Emily
48:09 Dickinson I am Steve Jobs I am Maya
48:12 Angelou I am Mary Shelley I am Virginia
48:14 wool or not I am Virginia well just
48:16 Virginia Woolf I am Poe as an Edgar
48:19 Allan Poe I am Mark Twain
48:21 um so
48:23 so that so that's a way you can start
48:25 playing with them but yeah I would
48:26 definitely have them um start creating
48:28 prompts the other thing I would have
48:29 them do
48:31 is use chat GPT to critique itself so
48:35 when it gives an answer
48:37 this is a hack that people have started
48:39 talking about two or three weeks ago
48:41 it's pretty it's pretty cool you say you
48:43 know review this answer you know
48:46 critique it what do you think of it how
48:48 would you improve it and then it will
48:49 improve its own answer it will critique
48:51 itself and improve its own answer
48:54 um so yeah so so I would say just engage
48:56 get them you know if if it's a group
48:59 that has access to computers and laptops
49:01 have them bring their laptops and and
49:03 maybe Show an example or two on screen
49:04 and then turn people loose if you're at
49:06 a library put people in pairs and have
49:08 them pair up and play
49:11 um
49:11 I feel so dumb knowing
49:14 um not knowing what to ask you or chat
49:16 gbt you're not dumb at all this so so
49:20 thank you for saying that because this
49:23 is it this is really intimidating stuff
49:25 it's not
49:27 hard
49:29 but when you have a tool that can
49:31 essentially do anything it's like where
49:35 do I start what do I do so here's where
49:37 you start I think
49:40 figure out a problem you've got
49:42 um you want to better understand your
49:45 insurance policy well copy and paste
49:47 little chunks of your insurance policy
49:49 into chatgpt and explain this to me like
49:53 like a like a human being would explain
49:55 it to me or or you know create a meal
49:58 plan or or have it help you write a book
50:01 or have it help you rewrite a book or
50:03 have it help you turn what you thought
50:06 was a comedy but turned into a drama to
50:09 turn it back into a comedy there's all
50:10 sorts of things you can do but start
50:12 with the problem first and then see how
50:15 Chachi BT can help you do that
50:17 um
50:19 another way you could do it is just say
50:22 um you know go to something like I just
50:24 said like prompts.chat and and just
50:26 learn from other people what they're
50:28 doing and just copy them just mimic them
50:30 that's when I first learned learned when
50:33 I started agency.com in the mid 90s with
50:36 with
50:36 um
50:37 you know building some of the early
50:39 websites a lot of what we did was we
50:41 went and looked at other websites that
50:42 we liked we're like oh that's cool and
50:44 we would go view source and we would
50:45 look at what they did and we're like oh
50:46 that's how they did that and then we
50:48 would go play with that so there's no
50:50 shame in in stealing like we just go go
50:54 see how people are prompting stuff and
50:55 what they're doing and if it if it
50:57 interests you then run down that rabbit
50:58 hole so um don't feel dumb at all um
51:01 it's it is totally overwhelming and
51:03 intimidating I feel overwhelmed every
51:06 day with this stuff because honest to
51:08 God if I take off so I had the speaking
51:10 gig on Monday
51:12 and um
51:17 so so speaking gig on Monday then they
51:19 screwed up the flight and I had to stay
51:21 overnight so I basically blew Monday and
51:23 Tuesday
51:24 so I was kind of away from all this AI
51:27 stuff for two days and and
51:29 what's today today's Wednesday right
51:31 yeah
51:32 um and I had a board meeting today and
51:33 so so I made one Tick Tock video today
51:35 but I've been I've been away like I was
51:37 like uh what happened what did I miss
51:40 what did I mean like this stuff is
51:41 coming so fast that it's very easy to
51:43 get
51:44 um
51:46 overwhelmed raised his hand very bitter
51:48 bitter you betcha us gen xers got to
51:50 stick together
51:52 um the way you describe the exploration
51:54 of GPT describes my process to the T I
51:57 feel validated awesome that's great yeah
51:59 dig in think of it more like a
52:01 conversation than a than a tool how do
52:03 you spell Claude connected to Poe and
52:05 anthropic yeah well there's so here can
52:08 I let me see if I can zoom this in oops
52:10 that's too big
52:12 um this is their their chat model GPT 4
52:16 is gpt4 Claude plus is there is is
52:19 anthropic's basic model Claude instant
52:22 100K is there is there big 75 000 word
52:27 that with that model at poe.com you can
52:31 copy and paste in 75 000 words into your
52:34 chat window and ask it a question about
52:36 it so you could literally take this
52:39 transcript of a novel
52:41 and tell it to reverse engineer the
52:44 outline for you and then to improve the
52:46 outline and then to rewrite the novel
52:50 you know based on the new outline
52:53 um so that's how you spell Claude and
52:55 and Claude instant is I think this is
52:56 just a fast one Cloud plus so think of
52:59 it like this clot instant is like chat
53:01 GPT level quality it's really fast
53:04 though Cloud plus is like gpt4 and then
53:07 Claude instant 100K is like GPT 3.5 but
53:13 you can put 75 000 words in it I'm a big
53:16 fan of anthropics which is the the
53:19 Claude the clod people I I think they're
53:21 a bunch of EX open AI people that
53:23 invented gpt3 and they went off and said
53:26 we've we think we can do this better and
53:28 uh they're doing some really interesting
53:30 stuff over there so I'd pay attention to
53:31 them
53:33 all right how are you displaying your
53:34 screen so when you start your live you
53:36 can you can there's one of the options
53:38 is dual cameras and so basically it's
53:41 got you know a camera pointing at me and
53:43 a camera pointing forward and I just
53:44 have my laptop folded open that's why my
53:47 keyboards right here so
53:49 see that's just my hand this is this is
53:51 like virtual reality like I fly through
53:53 the phone and I show up over here huh
53:58 it's just two cameras that's all
54:01 how are we supposed to keep track of
54:03 them of all the tools you can't so go to
54:06 futurepedia.io they keep track of all
54:08 the tools um what what I do I stop
54:11 trying to keep track of them
54:13 um if I have a specific problem to solve
54:15 and I don't know what tool to use then I
54:18 I'll seek something out
54:20 I primarily use gpt4
54:23 um
54:25 now that it's connected to the internet
54:28 um I I'll I'll uh I'll do that
54:31 um I have been playing with the plugins
54:33 and then I use mid journey and I use a
54:37 little bit of stable diffusion but not
54:39 so much anymore I pay for mid-journey I
54:41 pay for chat GPT
54:43 um and I just try to do my work within
54:45 those tools and then I I try to keep
54:47 aware of all the other stuff happening
54:50 um but it's it's impossible to keep
54:52 track of everything
54:54 it's really good at planning for hard
54:56 conversations that's great yeah it is
54:58 it's it is surprisingly uh um let's not
55:02 call it empathetic it doesn't have
55:03 feelings
55:05 it is better at empathetic communication

55:26 more competent and more empathetic
55:29 um so yeah it's actually very good at
55:31 hard conversations am I concerned about
55:32 AI becoming smarter than humans and
55:35 taking control of the world I I can tell
55:38 you right now that chat GPT is
55:39 significantly smarter than I am it is
55:41 way more capable I I think that what
55:43 chatgpt represents is what I'm calling
55:46 knowledge on demand I think Google was
55:49 information on Demand right you put in a
55:51 search term it gives you a bunch of [ __ ]
55:52 A bunch of information it's then up to
55:55 you as the human to go sift through that
55:57 [ __ ] and read it and figure out if any
56:01 of that is relevant to stick in your big
56:04 brain
56:06 chat apt if I want to know about the
56:10 military theory of the Mesopotamian War
56:14 and right uh a a poem about that I can
56:18 do that in 30 seconds
56:21 would I want to I don't know but like so

56:30 and with plugins I already think that
56:33 you know from an individual basis these
56:36 tools are way more capable they've got a
56:39 lot of problems it hallucinates it lies
56:41 it's not accurate

56:49 the taking over the world thing is

56:53 um I think that we will find ways to
56:56 stop that but
56:58 part of part of what's happened in the
57:00 past three months is that because meta's
57:03 core language model leaked and the
57:05 developer Community now has it it's just
57:07 out there everywhere there's all these
57:09 open source models that were based on
57:11 llama that came from
57:13 from uh from meta
57:16 that that kind of the cats out of the
57:18 bag where the horses out of the barn
57:20 um so it's possible that bad actors are
57:23 going to do bad [ __ ] with it my My Hope
57:25 Is that the good actors are gonna
57:27 they've also got equally if not more
57:29 powerful tools than the bad guys
57:32 um and so hopefully they will
57:33 counterbalance one another I think it's
57:35 a concern I think that's why Sam Altman
57:37 was in front of Congress last week
57:39 are there classes you recommend there
57:41 are so many I would strongly
57:45 I would say that it is

57:52 no one right now is an expert if anyone
57:55 is positioning themselves as an expert

58:52 I don't know solve some deep mystery

1:04:03 prompt to refine it and and yeah it's it
1:04:06 is cognitively very similar to coding
1:04:10 but you're using your natural language

1:09:26 Socratic teacher that interacts with the

1:09:36 give me the answer it will query you
1:09:39 back and forth figure out what part of
1:09:41 the problem you don't understand and
1:09:42 then teach it to you and give you
1:09:44 examples it's quite remarkable

1:12:35 completely biased right
1:12:37 um so so there there is no perfect model
1:12:39 that's that's point one point two

1:12:45 what data they train the core model on
1:12:49 if it's biased right if it's got more of
1:12:52 this than that then it just may have
1:12:55 more of this than that in it so there's
1:12:56 an issue there
1:12:58 the way open AI trains their models is
1:13:00 through what's called human
1:13:01 reinforcement learning so
1:13:04 um you interact with chat GPT it gives
1:13:07 you an answer and then they paid people
1:13:09 you know not much money a lot of people
1:13:11 not much money 15 or 20 bucks an hour
1:13:13 for months
1:13:15 to give it feedback nope that's not a
1:13:18 good answer that's not a good answer
1:13:20 that's a good answer right so every time
1:13:22 a human being says that's not a good
1:13:24 answer that is a good answer they're
1:13:26 introducing bias just like
1:13:28 and it's and and bias is not necessarily
1:13:31 like a pejorative it's not it's not a
1:13:34 it's not necessarily A Bad Thing
1:13:36 but it's just based on my world view I'm
1:13:39 going to look at an answer and think
1:13:40 it's awesome and someone else is going
1:13:42 to look at an answer and think it's
1:13:44 total [ __ ] [ __ ] right so if I'm the
1:13:47 one that got to say yeah that's good
1:13:49 then I'm biasing it in my direction
1:13:51 right
1:13:52 a lot of the people that did the
1:13:54 training were in San Francisco which is
1:13:56 a little more left-leaning than say not
1:13:59 San Francisco
1:14:01 so part of the bad rap is a bunch of you
1:14:04 know
1:14:06 libtards in San Francisco did the
1:14:08 training so you know it's a left-leaning
1:14:10 you know you know it's less leading bias
1:14:14 it's you know
1:14:16 um
1:14:17 so there may be some truth to that now
1:14:20 how do you combat that well you first of
1:14:24 all raise awareness about it so you
1:14:25 could start to say okay well let's find
1:14:27 some more balance let's train it in a in
1:14:30 as balanced away as we can
1:14:33 so long as you're involving humans in
1:14:35 that process I think it's going to going
1:14:37 to continue to be biased the reason that
1:14:40 I like anthropic the company behind
1:14:42 Claude and Claude 100K and Claude
1:14:44 instant and whatever other models there
1:14:47 are Cloud Plus
1:14:49 um they've got a model called the
1:14:52 Constitutional learning model and so
1:14:53 instead of humans saying this is good
1:14:55 that's good
1:14:57 they've written a Constitution and the
1:14:59 Constitution is like you know you know
1:15:01 don't cause harm increase Prosperity you
1:15:04 know humans over machines whatever
1:15:06 whatever I forget what their
1:15:07 constitution is you can go see it
1:15:09 and when it generates an answer it's
1:15:11 actually comparing that answer against
1:15:13 the Constitution so it's doing its
1:15:15 reinforcement learning against a set of
1:15:18 rules that are transparent and just
1:15:19 sitting out there for everyone to see
1:15:22 um
1:15:23 like I said
1:15:25 someone may look at the Constitution
1:15:27 they wrote and go well I think that's
1:15:29 biased I think that I think the rule
1:15:30 should be these five rules instead of
1:15:32 those five rules and so I think what
1:15:35 we'll see in the future is that there
1:15:36 will be lots of different models that
1:15:38 have different flavors right and you
1:15:40 might have one that's super conservative
1:15:42 you might have one that's super liberal
1:15:44 you might have one that's super academic
1:15:46 you might have one that's super creative
