178. 39:39um but as soon as we can connect these digital twins in real time or not digital twins these video avatars in
179. 39:51real time to to a large language model digital twin then then it'll it'll look the same as that except
180. 39:59you'll just be able to talk to it like you're having a FaceTime call with me and it'll have enough information about
181. 40:05me to be able to respond in some semblance of who I am however I've designed that data set it's a really good question and I I
182. 40:17don't I don't know the answer I don't I don't know when when we'll get the technology to be able to do that
183. 40:24really easily like you could do it now with there's an adobe animation program that you could do it with and create a
184. 40:32realtime thing that real time animates but that's programming I don't have I I'm exhausted right now I want I want no
185. 40:43code I want to be able to just say to my AI [ __ ] go make me [ __ ] and it will so a digital twin is interactive yeah I'm
186. 40:51thinking about a digital twin as interactive and if you go back to the to the kind of origin of the concept cept
187. 40:57of a digital twin Firefly my buddy Richard Boyd who he he's been doing 3D simulation in digital twins for decades
188. 41:06he sold one of his previous companies to Lockheed Martin um he's he created he told me about a digital twin he created
189. 41:16for the Department of Defense or for the Navy of a nuclear submarine so a a complete like fully enterable 3D simulation of a
190. 41:32nuclear submarine complete with dials gauges flips switches doors locks air locks periscopes all the [ __ ] um and it's interactive right um
191. 41:45Sailors can enter this digital twin of this nuclear submarine and they can train on it um so that's a digital tool
192. 41:54that's so the origin of it is recreating something in the in the physical world virtually that is functional right and
193. 42:03so the way I'm thinking about a digital twin is what would be the functional version of me someone that you could
194. 42:08actually talk to and have me talk back to you I started creating my grandma GPT oh that's so amazing Cosmic
195. 42:16lover it's it's a [ __ ] fascinating absolutely fascinating experience like absolutely build it and my father
196. 42:25doesn't know how to feel about it after she passes I know I know I'm totally there like there's there's a part of
197. 42:37it there's a part of it where you're like well that's just weird and awful but then there's another part of it
198. 42:43which is like you know you can honor their memory and you can you know still interact with them and have their
199. 42:50memories and if you train it right if you put enough of their memories in there that's what I was saying last
200. 42:54night Cosmic lover that I could even imagine doing different versions of the digital twin you know the little girl
201. 43:01version of her and the the who she is today and her as a wife and you know you could probably put all that data into a
202. 43:09single digital twin but you could also create kind of Standalone versions of her and then when you get video avatars you can actually have a
203. 43:19conversation with her right so you should if you can I don't know enough details but if you can you should get
204. 43:27video of her and you should dig up video of her from the past because you'll be able to make at some point you know a
205. 43:34video Avatar of her at different ages I took video and interviewed my 98-year-old aunt for this very reason
206. 43:43yeah and I'm telling you Source Camp the the um you're like I just like it just it feels like such a gift like you know I
207. 43:54lost my mother I lost my father to dementia he was an Air Force pilot he flew helicopters in n and he he flew

210. 44:26those memories are gone so I feel like the gift of capturing this stuff is is crazy powerful and it's weird
211. 44:36we're not used to it right this is sci-fi [ __ ] right this is sci-fi [ __ ] you know Daisy Thomas lunatick created a digital twin of
212. 44:53Alexander Hamilton she took a bunch of his writings and and things that were written about him and made a GPT of it
213. 45:01and she used that GPT at a time she was particularly depressed and hopeless about politics in America like two like year and a half
214. 45:13ago wasn't that long ago like a year ago and she kind of lost faith in our country and she had a
215. 45:28conversation with this digital twin of Alex of one of our founding fathers and she said it brought her to tears and it restored her
216. 45:37faith in our country and that we're going to get through this and so you can do it with people that you know you can do it with people
217. 45:48that you respected from a long time ago I've been experimenting with doing it with actually generating personas of
218. 45:57people that have different backgrounds than me will my avatar have the same accent as I have um can but it doesn't have to so I think
219. 46:09I think you'll be able to shift that um but for the most part the way it works the the way these these things
220. 46:17work let me give you a couple of tips you need to upload at least a 3 minute video at least with hey Jen you
221. 46:24need to upload a three minute video so you really want to get good lighting good sound a nice framed shot like in
222. 46:33the case of of Megan um you know I use the cinema effect where it blurs the background and it Apple does that really well it looks really
223. 46:42good um and then you can't have any edits in it you you have to talk for 3 minutes so so if you don't know what to say for 3
224. 46:54minutes put a put a whatever put something up there and however you talk with whatever level of energy that's
225. 47:01what it's going to capture so if you just kind of talk like this and you're all dead in the face and you're like
226. 47:08yeah I really like talking to the camera I'm a real magnanimous guy that's how your digital Twin's going
227. 47:15to be now if you're too animated like Megan used her hands a lot so her video Avatar is really handsy
228. 47:26jazz hands a lot of jazz hands going on with her um so next time we'll record her and just tell her to tone down the
229. 47:34hands a little bit cuz I think the way hey Jen does this is they basically take your script and they sort of they're
230. 47:43playing the video you know over time and then they're sort of modifying it with the new words they're sampling your voice and then reovery
231. 47:57however much you use your hands in the video it just kind of uses it in your digital twin and sometimes it doesn't make any sense
232. 48:07um but yeah like this is a this is a thing and and you know not for nothing play with this stuff as creepy as it is
233. 48:16or as weird as it is also imagine what a gift it can be and it might not even be a gift for other people it might be a
234. 48:24gift for that person right so in the case of my dad if we had if if you know if his disease had hit 5 years later or 10 years later
235. 48:36whenever it hit some amount of years later when we had all this technology and we knew that was coming we could
236. 48:42have recorded it captured it and built it into a tool that could have talked to him and reminded him of stories and you know was infinitely
237. 48:54patient they can make it do whatever it doesn't have to be exactly the same okay cool yeah that's great yeah and I figure
238. 49:01I mean hey Jen they they've got it now where you can do you can do a sitting Avatar like this but you can also do one
239. 49:09if you're walking if someone's filming you or if you've got a whatever they called a what the hell are they called um the
240. 49:20gimbal the thing that steadies your phone you can actually walk down the street you could record a 3-minute video
241. 49:26of you walking down the street and turn that into an avatar a video Avatar and then you can make videos of you walking

248. 50:37personas of stakeholders that would have a vested interest in this bill and it came up with six or seven and then I
249. 50:45said oh here's here's a couple more I came up with some more and then I had those personas of like a big tech

318. 1:03:28access to that core model that they can fine-tune in all sorts of ways so if gemini or Claude or chat GPT get too
319. 1:03:37commercial and sell out and the they they become less and less valuable you'll be able to opt into lots of other options
320. 1:03:46so but you know that's absolutely a risk and that's absolutely coming Pate do you know about any model that does reasoning

325. 1:04:39doing is they're taking existing papers like the transformer attention is all you need paper and the qar paper which
326. 1:04:47is a reasoning engine and they're figuring out how to take that exist those existing Frameworks that are in
327. 1:04:54these scientific papers and they're figuring out how to scale them really well and how to build them really well
328. 1:04:59and that's what they're putting out into the world so their new strawberry project um which is which is apparently
329. 1:05:07the new code name for their qar reasoning engine um you know that that's based on some [ __ ] that's already out there so
330. 1:05:18probably somewhere in the open source World there are some reasoning engines you could go play with Kyle please let people know that

374. 1:12:59they can understand [ __ ] and they can make images so a lot of the talking points are from people who haven't used AI that
375. 1:13:09just heard the talking points from 2 years ago and they're just parting those so a lot of the criticism of
376. 1:13:16AI is just kind of outdated talking points now if you use these tools and if you especially if you use them a lot what you'll
377. 1:13:30discover is that there's a fascinating relationship between oh my God it's the most amazing thing I've ever seen and
378. 1:13:38why the hell can't it do that and they're just jankier than [ __ ] right now they're just not great and they're the most profoundly powerful

432. 1:23:03to build some stuff she started mindfully creating she started thinking about now that she's sort of picking up these skills as she's
433. 1:23:11playing like using chat GPT and using it in her work and using it to reframe ideas she had and then she started talking about it
434. 1:23:25and this cycle of play so explore discover but do it without any expectation of you know of anything just play just go play
435. 1:23:42with the tools let your intuition guide you there is so many [ __ ] tools right now there are so many rabbit holes you
436. 1:23:49can run down like it literally doesn't matter just start playing with this [ __ ] if you don't know where to start start with chat

441. 1:24:29solve or think about an art project you want to do or create a kids book for your grandkids or your kids mindfully
442. 1:24:37create using what you learned when you were playing and then the most important thing is be in a community like the AI
443. 1:24:45Salon where you can connect with other people and you can tell them what you're learning hey I'm I'm putting together
444. 1:24:53this kids book and I tried this and I used this and I used this GPT and I did that and what may seem really obvious to
445. 1:25:01you is going to be revelatory for someone else and there's a sneaky little thing about generously leading which is asking for
446. 1:25:13help is actually leadership because when you ask for help you give someone else in the community the opportunity for them to
447. 1:25:24leave and them to share what they've learned and so share generously what you've learned and ask for help generously like
