4:30 [Music] 4:33 GA my thoughts in sweet 4:37 [Music] 4:39 silence the buest place where the 4:42 feelings are 4:47 dead from an over exposure to 4:51 violence and this is the place I can 4:54 slowly face the only one I truly can 4:58 know 5:01 these are tears from a long time 5:04 ago got these tears from a long time ago 5:09 I need to cry 30 years or 5:13 so these are tears from a l 5:19 time me their 5:56 lifelines will I pull up 6:04 [Music] 6:06 oh good evening good people look the 6:09 wizard of learning the wizard of 6:11 learning is here it's going to be it's 6:13 going to be magical mystical mythical 6:16 tonight it's going to be a mythical 6:17 mystical evening 6:20 [Laughter] 6:22 [Music] 6:32 if you're new to this AI 6:42 stuff there's good news and there's bad 6:49 news the good news is you're not as far 6:51 behind as you think 6:54 [Music] 7:01 the bad news is you can never catch 7:06 [Music] 7:13 [Applause] 7:14 [Music] 7:18 up if you just took chat GPT 3.5 the old 7:22 one they don't even you can't even play 7:24 with it anymore you sort of can if you 7:26 choose 7:29 to if you just took 7:32 that and it never got any better and it 7:34 wasn't connected to the internet and you 7:36 spent the next 7:40 [Music] 7:42 year trying to perfect it and get your 7:45 head around it you 7:47 couldn't what it makes 7:51 possible the things you could learn with 7:53 it 7:55 [Music] 8:03 but like always with technology it 8:06 advances and it progresses and it goes 8:08 and it goes and it goes and it 8:11 goes and this AI stuff even though we've 8:14 kind of plateaued over this 8:16 summer we we were running up running up 8:18 running up all this change all this 8:20 change in this summer we're kind of 8:25 plateaued and if you've been in the 8:26 conversation for a while you might start 8:28 getting cynical like wow it's not 8:30 improving fast enough I haven't been 8:33 completely overwhelmed in like 3 8:38 [Music] 8:44 weeks and I would even ask people that 8:46 come here on a regular 8:48 [Music] 8:51 basis how often do you used the advanced 8:54 features of chat GPT have you really 8:58 mastered data advanced data analysis and 9:01 code 9:02 interpreter have you really pushed the 9:04 envelope of vision GPT Vision the fact 9:08 that it can see 9:11 images is anyone really taking that in 9:16 [Music] 9:30 the fact that it's connected to the 9:31 internet and can go get real-time 9:34 data and then can parse that data can 9:38 turn that in data into Excel files and 9:41 Word Documents and PowerPoint documents 9:44 all within chat 9:49 GPT so what this channel is about 9:54 is recognizing 10:00 that this is a this is an ongoing 10:03 conversation and these lives are the 10:06 conversation for me 10:09 anyway cuz you know I got my day 10:13 job I've been asked to 10:18 go speak in Washington 10:23 DC like some sort of [ __ ] big wig 10:30 and what I know and I what I think 10:31 everyone here 10:32 knows is 10:37 that I have no 10:40 qualifications people ask me all the 10:42 time sir sir good day to you fantastic 10:47 I'm here at the AI learning lab it looks 10:49 like there's a wizard of some type you 10:50 don't seem to have a beard but go on and 10:52 may I inquire 10:54 sir out of curiosity what are your 10:57 qualifications 11:01 to which I 11:03 reply good 11:05 sir good day to 11:08 you for I have no 11:12 qualifications there are no 11:15 [Music] 11:16 experts there's just the 11:19 conversation we're all doing the [ __ ] 11:21 best we 11:22 can trying to get our head around this 11:25 thing trying to imagine what future is 11:27 going to be like when these tools get 11:29 really good 11:31 [Music] 11:34 try 11:34 to 11:38 unlearn how normal we've made it that 11:42 these tools 11:51 exist does it still like give 11:54 you 11:55 Shivers when chat gpg just [ __ ] 11:58 writes a link to in post for you why 12:03 not you just come to expect 12:06 [Music] 12:21 it are you sitting there thinking like 12:24 well Kyle maybe you should use AI to 12:26 teach yourself some new songs on the 12:28 guitar 12:33 see that's just mean now you're just 12:34 being cynical and mean and trolly we 12:38 don't troll in 12:40 here well we do but you got to be smart 12:42 about it yes I'm amazed and delighted 12:45 every single day that's from Kelly Camp 12:49 her I believe her I [ __ ] 12:53 believe she has kind of adopted this 12:57 attitude not attitude this approach with 13:03 AI where she's finding a way to maintain 13:06 her 13:09 wonder and not like act like an 13:12 expert and when people ask her tell me 13:15 about AI she's like sure let me show you 13:18 some cool tricks she's got parlor 13:22 tricks she's really good at him she got 13:25 like a whole little 13:27 list her brain's like a PowerPoint pre 13:29 presentation she's got them all in the 13:31 right order they 13:33 build people are like make a picture 13:35 she's like no we're going to go in 13:41 order watch it can write ha 13:45 cou watch it can write iambic 13:49 pentameter watch it can write a 13:50 marketing 13:56 plan and she's kind of made it her 13:58 mission 14:00 to give people their first Kevin 14:02 mallister moment which if you haven't 14:05 done that yet if you haven't if you've 14:08 discovered Ai and you 14:11 haven't learned out loud and shared with 14:14 someone what you 14:16 [Music] 14:19 know it's it's like 14:22 [ __ ] it's like a 14:26 drug where you got someone who's a 14:28 little snoody they're a little like wow 14:31 Three Mile Storage it's crazy how 14:33 quickly AI has become normal every day 14:37 has magical 14:38 AI uh as an integral part of life yeah 14:43 yeah I know it's amazing isn't 14:46 it and it kind of hit me tonight as we 14:49 were going live it's 14:51 [Music] 14:53 like this this lull and Innovation 14:56 because we've been on like an endorphin 14:58 high for 15:00 you know at least 12 months closer to 15:05 18 and the last three months have been a 15:07 little bit like it's cool it's cool it's 15:09 cool stuff yeah Runway gen 3 it's 15:11 awesome making some good videos kind of 15:14 like what we saw with Sora even though 15:15 it never launched thanks Sam Alman you 15:18 know maybe you and your little Merry 15:20 band of billionaires over there could 15:21 get something launched once in a while 15:23 like where's real time voice he's still 15:25 nego negotiating with scarjo 15:29 [Music] 15:41 [Applause] 15:42 I 15:45 [Music] 15:51 mean have you gone to 15:55 Claude and watched it write a computer 15:58 program and then just run 16:03 [Music] 16:06 it or asked another way have you ever 16:10 tried to teach yourself how to code and 16:13 realized oh [ __ ] this is 16:21 hard and we now live in a 16:24 world can Claud connect to an external 16:27 API it cannot currently it's not connect 16:29 connected to the internet now that 16:31 that's technically sort of half not true 16:34 you could get Claude to write code to 16:36 connect to an API like you could give it 16:39 um API documentation it could write the 16:42 code and then you need to run it in a 16:44 development environment where the code 16:46 can actually connect to that 16:48 API 16:50 um 16:52 why anthropic hasn't connected Claud to 16:55 the internet is one of the great 16:57 mysteries of 2024 but whatever ever 16:59 it'll get there 17:03 um so so there's that have you played 17:06 with perplexity Pages 17:08 yet where you give it a topic and it 17:12 [ __ ] like writes a well researched 17:15 magazine 17:17 article with 17:18 pictures and tables and bulleted lists 17:30 are you so expert 17:33 now that you just go to Mid journey and 17:37 expect it to make brilliant 17:40 imagery it's like well yeah I put in the 17:44 prompt you know it's pretty 17:46 good start my day each day for an hour 17:49 of AI I I don't doubt that at all 17:52 generate image blog Clips Etc The New 17:55 Normal that's Jim Ross from Three Mile 17:57 Storage Jim Jim Ross you're you're like 17:59 three mile storage that's like data 18:01 storage right he's a he's a he's a comp 18:04 he's a data scientist he went to 18:06 Stamford I don't know where he went to 18:08 school but the storage he's talking 18:10 about is you know like garage doors and 18:15 padlocks spends an hour every morning on 18:19 AI are you 18:24 [Music] 18:30 so the reason to come to this 18:32 channel is not for me it's clearly not 18:36 for 18:36 [Music] 18:39 me it's just to remind 18:44 yourself that holy 18:48 [ __ ] we're living in this 18:52 reality where this [ __ ] exists 18:55 [Music] 19:03 and maybe to remind yourself oh 19:06 yeah I should go play with Chad GPT I 19:09 haven't done that today oh yeah you know 19:12 what I did 19:15 today so I got this big Washington Trip 19:18 coming up and I asked people on the on 19:22 the AI 19:27 salon on the AI on community if you go 19:30 there it's a website talks about who we 19:32 are and one of the little links there 19:35 says join our community doesn't cost 19:39 [Music] 19:46 anything and I asked people if they 19:48 would share with 19:51 me how AI has impacted their 19:56 lives some were short some were long 19:59 somewhere 20:01 big and they were all some version of 20:05 extraordinary and so I copied and pasted 20:08 them all out of there and some sent me 20:10 some in email some sent me some in text 20:13 they were they were coming in from all 20:15 over and I just popped them into chat 20:19 GPT and I said 20:21 hey I'm going to talk to 20:26 Congress and I want to talk about 20:28 experiences people have had had so can 20:31 you pull out the interesting nuggets out 20:33 of what you see here that might be 20:35 interesting in that 20:36 context out they 20:39 came I said oh can you put people's 20:41 names in front of them boom out it came 20:44 I said oh can you put like a little 20:46 category before their name of like you 20:48 know what what it is they're talking 20:49 about like healthc care or you know 20:53 creative expression or like whatever it 20:55 is out it came 21:02 you know what would have been a 15 20 30 21:05 minute exercise in the olden timey 21:10 days where we actually had to use our 21:13 brains was about a 5 21:16 minute like inspiring 21:19 pleasure it's the best way I can 21:21 describe it 21:24 [Music] 21:31 just 21:32 [Music] 21:51 [Music] 21:56 amazing will AI make our brains get soft 22:00 though well so 22:02 Osiris here's been my 22:05 experience like I on the surface that's 22:10 what it absolutely feels like it should 22:12 do right you have this tool so it used 22:15 to be people said AI can't do anything 22:17 creative and then it's like the more you 22:19 use it you're like it's absolutely 22:20 [ __ ] doing things creative it it it 22:22 it is synthesizing and assimilating 22:25 ideas 22:27 faster more coherent cently and and more 22:30 consistently than I ever have in my life 22:32 right so in theory you're like well so I 22:35 should be getting less 22:37 creative cuz it's doing the work for me 22:40 right not how the brain works it's not 22:44 how the brain works because we're 22:46 [ __ ] crazy right so so what happens 22:49 without AI is you have an idea in your 22:51 head and you're like I should get that 22:53 idea out of my head let me go get a 22:55 notebook and then you're like well none 22:57 of these notebooks are good enough let 22:59 me go down to the mall and get myself a 23:00 leather bound notebook cuz this is such 23:02 a good idea and you spend like 45 23:04 minutes going down to the mall and 23:06 getting the right notebook and you find 23:08 the right notebook but all they have are 23:10 like wooden fancy pens and you're like 23:12 no I don't I need I need like a good 23:13 writing pen but like not a cheap one I 23:15 don't need a bck I need a good pen and 23:18 you spend another 45 minutes trying to 23:20 [ __ ] buy the right pen for the right 23:21 notebook for your Genius [ __ ] 23:26 idea like 4 hours later maybe you 23:29 scribble down a note or two and as 23:30 you're writing down the note you're like 23:32 oh God if I was going to do this idea 23:35 I'd have to I'd have to learn 23:37 engineering and 23:40 I or you write down the idea you got the 23:43 perfect notebook the perfect pen the 23:45 perfect [ __ ] idea and you're like oh 23:47 this is so 23:48 good and you call up your best friend 23:51 Bob and you're like Bob tell them what 23:53 they've won Bob's like we're not playing 23:55 a game could you stop saying that you're 23:57 like Bob I got this idea idea Bob's like 24:00 shoot and you're like and you read your 24:03 idea and Bob's like 24:06 uhhuh and you're crushed you're crushed 24:11 inside cuz you know that an Han from Bob 24:13 that an Han's like that's all you got 24:16 that's your 24:18 idea you go you hang up the phone and 24:21 you you [ __ ] throw the pen out you 24:25 take the notebook you throw it in a 24:26 [ __ ] drawer 24:29 and the idea 24:36 dies the amount of creative activity in 24:40 that whole little scenario I just said 24:42 was is about this much all the rest is 24:44 all this other activity to get that 24:46 [ __ ] thing out of your head and then 24:48 when you interact with that idea in the 24:50 world the world shits on 24:53 it the reason there's not more 24:55 entrepreneurs and there's not more 24:57 inventors is that it's really [ __ ] 24:59 painful when you have something that 25:01 you're like your heart is swelling and 25:02 you tell someone and they [ __ ] on 25:04 it then you hide and you don't do it 25:06 again for five 25:08 years here's what happens with AI with 25:12 AI you got that same stupid [ __ ] idea 25:16 get you little idea all right let me 25:17 stick it in chat GPT chat GPT I have an 25:20 idea that's the most fantastic idea I 25:22 ever heard here's 16 ways you could 25:24 bring that to life 25:25 W before you know it within five minutes 25:28 you got this idea fleshed out and alive 25:30 and you have this entity that's giving 25:32 you positive 25:33 reinforcement and now that that idea is 25:35 out of your head and it's been given a 25:37 little bit of fertilizer and a little 25:39 bit of water and it's starting to sprout 25:41 guess what happens that void is filled 25:44 with more 25:45 ideas I haven't been this creatively 25:49 alive probably in my life but certainly 25:52 since I was a child you know when you're 25:54 a child and just every [ __ ] idea that 25:56 comes in your head you're like I got an 25:58 idea yeah you know what they should do 26:00 they should make big boats that go pick 26:01 up all the plastic in the ocean and then 26:03 people [ __ ] laugh at 26:06 you and you don't go build the boats to 26:09 pick up the plastic in the ocean well 26:11 there's a [ __ ] young 20-some kid 26:14 right now that's exactly what he 26:16 invented two giant boats that grow 26:19 really slow in the ocean and pick up 26:20 tons and tons and tons of plastic out of 26:22 the great garbage 26:23 patch how many people had that idea 26:26 before they actually did 26:27 it if takes a really rare person to get 26:30 ideas out of their head it much more 26:32 rare person to actually realize those 26:34 ideas not with 26:37 AI it's like it's 26:40 like it's like your brain just just sort 26:42 of like opens up like a [ __ ] flower I 26:46 am more creative Now by 26:50 far than any other time in my 26:53 [Music] 26:55 life ideas don't die anymore they 26:57 flourish exact ly Genie in a Bottle by 26:59 the way Genie that was a really 27:01 beautiful thing you wrote me today Genie 27:03 wrote me just an amazing thing about how 27:05 AI is helping her 27:08 heal just [ __ ] beautiful 27:12 [Music] 27:13 beautiful be creative and be alive and 27:16 be a therapist and be a doctor and be a 27:19 nurse 27:20 [Music] 27:24 and archetypal architect same I wasn't 27:27 even creative as a child 27:31 right I'd never have interacted with any 27:34 of you if it wasn't for AI exactly steo 27:38 from Australia he hangs out with us here 27:41 comes in nightly a lot of times when 27:43 you'll see the hearts going up the side 27:45 here like it looks like you're like oh 27:47 my God people love Kyle no that's steo 27:50 in 27:51 Australia using his granddaughter as 27:54 child labor just having her hit the the 27:56 tappy Taps she tapping and she's like 27:59 Grandpa my finger hurts he's like keep 28:05 tapping child labor laws in in Australia 28:07 they're they're a little more 28:11 relaxed and he's in here not night after 28:14 night but day after day cuz it's down 28:17 under he's got shrimps on the barbie 28:19 he's got the the granddaughter tapping 28:21 he's sitting back drinking an ale or 28:24 whatever the hell they drink down there 28:25 some sort of kangaroo piss 28:30 some sort of koala saliva fermented 28:36 thing ah bring me a tasmani and 28:40 [Music] 28:57 devil ah 28:59 who is that I totally missed you all 29:00 side hustle Mimi what's 29:02 happening Call Me Al a fellow Australian 29:06 call me 29:09 AI oh man AGI swarm tapping for me nice 29:14 finally using AI for good I like it yeah 29:17 let's get let's get drone swarms in here 29:19 doing all the tapping 29:22 [Music] 29:29 cuz all of me loves all of you loves 29:34 your curves and all your edges all your 29:37 perfect 29:39 [Music] 29:42 imperfections so anyway if you're new 29:45 here 29:47 welcome he seems to talk a lot is he 29:49 going to teach us anything it said it 29:51 was the AI learning lab I was expecting 29:53 more of a classroom situation is there a 29:56 Blackboard 30:01 [Music] 30:04 so what you should be doing here's a 30:05 good way to use this 30:07 [Music] 30:09 channel if I'm down some ADHD Rabbit 30:12 Hole or I'm in some sort of 30:15 self-indulgent [ __ ] philosophical 30:17 rant like 30:21 now just ignore me if you like what I'm 30:25 saying that's fine you can listen but 30:27 you don't have to just ignore me turn 30:29 the sound 30:31 down just put me off to the 30:34 side and log into your favorite AI tool 30:36 and start 30:37 playing yeah you know I should probably 30:40 go back to that music making thing that 30:42 made me happy one night huh wonder why I 30:44 haven't done that in a month 30:46 huh what if it brought me some 30:52 Joy or chat with some of the people in 30:56 here talk about what you're doing or 30:59 question you have 31:01 [Music] 31:05 or or as Jim Ross's wife said for God's 31:08 sakes put on your 31:10 [Laughter] 31:14 headphone between the dog howling and me 31:17 ranting 31:19 right it's like ASMR 31:23 if if it if it's like a an angle grinder 31:29 [Music] 31:37 I was on um we had the AI Salon the 31:41 other night and Danielle pointed out to 31:43 me because I like to do Pharaoh shuffles 31:45 cuz I don't know I learned how to do 31:47 them and they're kind of cool that thing 31:51 and 31:52 uh I was doing it below the camera but 31:55 right next to the microphone and D Dani 31:58 went card shuffling 32:00 [Laughter] 32:05 ASMR uh it was pretty 32:07 funny oh man man my eyes are dry tonight 32:12 dry good Lord people oh you know what 32:14 I'm like why is it hot in here cuz the 32:16 air conditioner is not facing me let me 32:18 go let me go deal with that Talk Amongst 32:20 yourselves I'll be right here 32:28 [Music] 32:33 [Music] 32:41 all 32:41 right so what do you want to do 32:45 tonight I can keep 32:49 going hold please 32:51 exactly I think it's a soothing sound 32:54 actually yeah it's really as an add 32:57 fidget toy um learning how to do a 32:59 pharaoh Shuffle is a is really good 33:02 these cards are a little slick I got to 33:03 be careful cuz 33:04 they they'll they'll shoot across the 33:07 room CU they're really slick and 33:17 stiff I made a 33:21 mess all right I need to make an 33:24 animated logo what can I use um it 33:28 depends how precise you want to be if 33:31 you want to make really good animated 33:33 logos do it the oldfashioned way here's 33:36 here's the deal Mr it AI is not always 33:38 the answer 33:40 um if you want it to be AI you could go 33:43 to 33:45 um you could either go to Runway and use 33:48 gen 3 Gen 3 is really good at doing 33:50 animated like you can do a movie with a 33:53 word that'll show 33:54 up um you could do that or you could go 33:57 to 33:59 Dolly 3 or ideogram and make a logo with 34:03 words or whatever and then take that 34:07 into Runway or one of those things that 34:10 you can turn an image into a video you 34:12 can do it that way um that's not going 34:15 to give you very much Precision at all 34:17 if you want real good Precision you 34:19 should probably just use software 34:20 there's all sorts of logo animating 34:22 software out there talk about audio and 34:25 sunno okay um 34:30 so we can go play with audio andso and 34:33 when you mean audio do you mean like 34:35 voice synthesis so the kind of three 34:37 major players right now in in that Arena 34:40 are 11 Labs if you want to do voice 34:45 synthesis udio is what I call 34:48 it but other people say it's 34:52 udio which just sounds like a broken 34:54 word to me so I'm sticking a y in front 34:57 of mine 34:58 but yudo and sunno are the two major 35:02 players in audio like song 35:06 generation and they're [ __ ] 35:08 remarkable like they're 35:10 remarkable I'm moist he's a little moist 35:13 he's a little did he put on Foundation 35:15 tonight he looks blotchy and he looks 35:18 moist and what's going on with this 35:21 tupe he glued it on too far back on his 35:23 head 35:25 again um those are the biggies what do 35:28 you want me to talk about sunno does 35:30 decent voice synthesis too that's true 35:32 it does well wait yudo does 35:35 too oh 3K character limit though that's 35:38 interesting be right back child service 35:41 is at the door Ste steo has gotten in 35:43 trouble his his granddaughter's finger 35:46 is like the size of his 35:50 forearm Grandpa can I stop 35:53 no he's just drinking beer 35:56 [Laughter] 36:05 yeah so you come here come here to 36:07 remind yourself to be in this 36:09 conversation come here to connect with 36:11 friends you've made here come here to 36:13 collaborate come here to ask 36:17 questions I've been reintroduced 36:24 to what it means to be a generous leader 36:27 through doing this work this Channel and 36:29 through the AI 36:33 salon and there's there's a part of 36:35 leadership that's about lead and tell 36:38 people [ __ ] and then there's another 36:39 part of 36:40 leadership which is making room to let 36:43 other people 36:45 lead so by doing things like asking for 36:49 help which feels 36:52 counterintuitively not 36:55 leery is 36:58 is incredible 37:00 leadership because when you ask for help 37:02 you create space for someone else to 37:04 step into that 37:06 role and 37:08 practice and this community does that 37:10 all the time people aren't afraid to ask 37:13 for help they're not afraid to say I 37:14 don't know anything well they might be 37:16 afraid to say it but they [ __ ] say it 37:19 anyway like one of our values in the AI 37:22 Salon is 37:24 bravery you know what's [ __ ] 37:26 terrifying 37:30 I I have a 37:33 question especially when you come into a 37:35 group like this or a group like the AI 37:37 Salon where you know people have been 37:39 doing that [ __ ] for a while like like 37:41 this group was founded the week after 37:43 cat GPT came 37:46 out to come into this group and go I 37:50 don't know 37:52 anything that takes a lot of coones 38:00 that's 38:03 leadership having the guts to say you're 38:06 just 38:13 beginning being curious being 38:21 adventurous I'll tell you I'll share 38:22 something with you my very 38:25 first my real Epiphany with chat it 38:29 happened maybe 2 weeks after chat gbt 38:32 came 38:34 out I was sitting on the 38:36 couch my wife was watching TV some of 38:39 you have heard the story but there's 38:40 there's a part of this that I don't I 38:42 don't talk about that 38:44 much and I knew that chat GPT could 38:47 write 38:48 code and for probably the past I don't 38:51 know six seven years people have told me 38:53 you should learn python cuz I would talk 38:56 about programming I you should teach you 38:57 something python teach yourself python 39:00 like I nod and go uh-huh I should I'll 39:03 get a book and then in my head I'm like 39:05 I'm not going to ever [ __ ] do that I 39:07 don't have the attention span to learn 39:11 code and so I said to chat GPT hey could 39:13 you write some python code that does 39:15 this that or the other out outs spits 39:18 this python 39:20 code and I 39:24 had it wasn't quite a panic attack 39:29 but it was a 39:34 um it was a moment of Silent 39:39 humiliation you ever have those where 39:42 you're like I got an idea I'll learn 39:44 coding and then you try to learn coding 39:46 and you're like oh my God it's hard I 39:48 don't think I can do this you have this 39:49 moment of like silent 39:51 shame and then you're just like a I'm 39:54 going to work my way through it and and 39:56 then a lot of times you don't 39:59 so I had that moment and what what it 40:01 was tied to was it wrote this 40:06 code and I had this like flash of 40:11 anxiety oh my God I don't know how to 40:13 run python 40:16 code I'm the CEO of a [ __ ] tech 40:20 company we've got patented technology 40:23 that I 40:26 invented I don't know know how to run 40:28 python code I don't know how to run 40:33 it in the olden timey 40:37 world I would have had to go to Google 40:40 and and type in how do you run python 40:42 code and I had to dig through sites that 40:45 were like [ __ ] up sales funnels that 40:48 were trying to sell me python [ __ ] 40:53 lessons like all I want to know is how 40:55 do I [ __ ] run it what do I do how do 40:58 I how do I know if it 41:03 works and that [ __ ] is [ __ ] 41:09 confronting and then I had this 41:11 breakthrough 41:13 moment where like it you remember Animal 41:16 House the scene where the the the girl 41:20 passes out on the bed and the like 41:22 little devil pops up on his shoulder 41:24 [ __ ] and then the the other the angel 41:26 pops up oh you couldn't do that 41:30 I had that little voice pop up in my 41:31 head and it said ask chat GPT you 41:38 idiot 41:40 right and I said I just realized I don't 41:44 know how to run python code I don't 41:47 think I would have said that to a human 41:49 I either wouldn't have done anything 41:51 with it I'd let myself get 41:54 stopped or or I'd have just Googled for 41:57 an hour and just been frustrated and 41:59 [ __ ] pissed 42:01 off and when I told chat GPT I didn't 42:04 know how to run python code was like oh 42:06 that's that's not a problem you just 42:07 open up the terminal you run this little 42:09 command 42:10 line I was like oh wow that 42:13 easy and I said well I'm lazy I didn't 42:16 say that I said that up 42:19 here I don't want to run terminal and I 42:21 don't want to do command line interfaces 42:23 I know Engineers love the command line I 42:27 [ __ ] hate it I like pictures and 42:30 clicking you can make money Jing I want 42:33 to push a button so I said is there 42:36 anywhere I can run python code in a web 42:38 browser cuz I have seen that on a video 42:42 somewhere he said sure here's five 42:45 sites and the first one was 42:48 repet and within 90 42:54 minutes within 90 minutes I had written 42:58 a complete functioning python 43:02 application that took inputs from a user 43:05 sent those inputs in a prompt that I 43:08 crafted to five separate open AI calls 43:12 and generated social media 43:15 content in 90 minutes I've never written 43:18 a line of python in my life 43:29 like that was the night that was the 43:31 moment it was probably that that single 43:33 moment that moment 43:36 of desperate quiet 43:39 humiliation you don't know how to run 43:41 python code you [ __ ] 43:46 idiot that in an instant I 43:49 realized the world has changed but no 43:52 one knows it 43:55 yet crazy right 43:59 that's what AI does that's what it it's 44:02 it's a level of accessibility it's a 44:04 level of 44:07 support it's a level of access to 44:10 knowledge not information knowledge and 44:14 it it's funny when I when I first 44:15 started talking about this people would 44:16 be like sticking oh it's just 44:18 information it's not 44:20 knowledge I'm like have you [ __ ] 44:22 watched it code it's knowledge watch 44:24 this watch 44:26 this okay now I'm pissed 44:29 off from those people that were like 44:31 it's just it's just a probability engine 44:34 it's just it's just predicting the next 44:36 most probable token there's nothing 44:38 really all that remarkable about it oh 44:41 really 44:43 really 44:48 really make me a Flappy Bird's clone now 44:56 please 44:58 you 45:00 gorgeous 45:02 hunk of 45:11 silicon Dr J that moment of 45:14 vulnerability right look look at it look 45:18 look look 45:22 peoples you tell me that's not [ __ ] 45:26 knowledge technically it's a probability 45:30 engine press space to start and to 45:35 jump doesn't have Collision detection 45:44 but and it ain't 45:47 pretty that's functional code that's 45:50 functional working 45:53 code I don't know what code it is what 45:55 code is it HTML 46:06 react it's react code I I 46:11 say 46:14 it's 46:16 ugly and it doesn't look like a 46:22 bird and there's no Collision 46:32 detection is that coding no that's what 46:36 I would say to an engineer go fix that 46:39 [ __ ] make it 46:42 pry the bird smashes into a wall the 46:45 game should end come on you big dum 46:48 dum and then a week 46:51 later I'll get back whatever it just 46:54 generated uh-oh see now it's screwed up 46:56 now it doesn't work at 47:00 all had a PDF hard copy took a photo on 47:04 mobile told chat GPT to write python to 47:07 make a 47:09 PDF 47:11 fillable form and it did it ASAP yeah 47:16 amazing well Flappy Birds was a failure 47:19 but it was still cool while it 47:24 lasted there's some reason it doesn't 47:26 work we could we could debug 47:29 that um I did a fun thing the other day 47:32 with 47:33 Claude I 47:39 did give me 47:41 10 ideas of interactive 47:53 physics experiments 48:00 to teach physics Concepts 48:13 visually first one pendulum wave wave 48:18 demonstration I don't know what I'm 48:20 supposed to do here what am I supposed 48:21 to do here oh that's cool oh 48:24 cool I guess I'm just watching this one 48:30 so that's cool what platform is that 48:32 this is Claude you have to have uh the 48:36 the 20 Buck a month version of it look 48:38 how pretty that's getting that's just 48:41 like what those things do uh let me say 48:44 um add um 48:47 variables and 48:52 interactivity and um 49:00 make it fill the screen 49:07 more yeah debug it P's P's just saying 49:11 that because he knows I can't debug 49:13 [Laughter] 49:18 it I'm I am I am very much in 49:22 uh in my 49:25 uh AI is mag 49:28 magic attitude tonight Pate I'm going to 49:30 drive you 49:33 crazy look number of pendulums I can 49:36 turn that 49:38 down length of the increment longer 49:42 speed 49:44 higher 49:51 pause it just made this now I look I can 49:53 come back over here and go next concept 49:56 next 50:01 concept imagine a 50:06 classroom imagine a 50:10 classroom where every 50:13 student could 50:17 decide what Concept in physics they 50:19 wanted to explore that 50:24 day spring Mass system 50:28 simulator 50:30 cool wow wow 50:35 wow spring 50:37 constant an initial displacement 50:59 I have no idea what it's 51:01 teaching but 51:04 cool 51:05 next concept and make the 51:10 colors 51:18 pretty let's see if we get pretty colors 51:47 wave interference simulator oh this is 51:50 cool nice colors I like it oh I can 51:53 change my 51:55 frequencies and my amp 52:04 udes that's 52:12 cool pretty 52:18 pretty but like and then let's say let's 52:22 say you're teaching physics to this high 52:25 school class 52:27 and you let them all come up with their 52:29 own ideas or have Claude come up with 52:31 ideas and for an hour all they're doing 52:34 is is generating physics 52:38 simulators and then for the next hour 52:41 you have them present the tool that they 52:44 built that they collaborated on or 52:46 curated is a better way to say it and 52:50 then you take the next 52:52 hour and to P's 52:54 point you tell them to go analyze the 52:59 code and explain to the class how this 53:03 code 53:13 works and then the next 53:18 hour you have them come up 53:21 with onea play ideas 53:28 and write and refine an outline of a 53:31 one-act play and then the hour after 53:35 that they fill in that outline and write 53:38 that 53:40 play and then the hour after that they 53:43 pair 53:44 up and they 53:46 practice doing the 53:48 plays and at the end of the day you have 53:53 little 53:54 scenes from their plays 54:00 that would be a [ __ ] awesome wild day 54:03 and then imagine every day being like 54:05 that where every subject is some [ __ ] 54:09 Jazz collaborative critical thinking 54:14 [ __ ] Mastermind 54:18 class and you're like imagine what we'll 54:21 do in fourth grade 54:28 that's okay now our our students are 54:30 protected we use AI detectors it's okay 54:34 we have prevented artificial 54:35 intelligence at the at the the system 54:39 level so no schools in our district will 54:42 use it not even in high school we're 54:44 okay we've got detectors we're 54:46 protecting the students it's fantastic 54:48 fantastic what are the students supposed 54:50 to do when they leave high school I'm 54:51 sorry what what are they supposed to do 54:54 when they leave high school and all this 54:55 shit's in the world wow that that that's 54:58 what their employers they're going to 54:59 have to learn to do the training with 55:02 the with the Safe Systems and the have 55:05 you ever used Ai No we've got detectors 55:08 for that though we we've we've evaluated 55:10 the all the best 55:12 detectors so everything's been detected 55:15 there's no cheating in our ranks more 55:18 standardized tests I always say 55:36 [Music] 55:43 and yeah to your point Pate debugging 55:46 code could be part of that right why did 55:49 it break why was that screen White 55:59 exactly 56:08 exactly Wonder 56:42 [Music] 56:51 I know you can't see anything that's 56:53 okay I'm trying something what is a a 57:00 chromatic cord 57:17 structure 57:20 huh I just wanted to see if udio could 57:24 make a CH a song with a chromatic chord 57:28 structure and then I realized I didn't 57:30 know what a chromatic chord structure 57:36 was chromatic chord structures involve 57:38 the use of notes outside the standard 57:41 dionic 57:42 scale the seven notes that make up the 57:45 major or minor scale these chords 57:48 introduce additional tones and add color 57:50 and tension to the music so it should be 57:53 more complex and more interesting let's 57:55 see if if we did it 57:56 [Music] 58:02 there you 58:04 go progressive 58:06 [Music] 58:14 rock in Shadow we're 58:18 drifting with not that 58:22 entwine with notes that entwine that's 58:25 pretty funny it did it did lyrics about 58:28 a chromatic chord structure 58:31 too um let's 58:33 see um 58:36 do how about a 58:41 one 4 58:44 Five 58:46 song that doesn't 58:51 sound boring and cliche 58:59 so 145 is a chord structure for most pop 59:11 songs let's see if it does anything fun 59:13 here love the program 59:30 with a major Sev for good 59:32 charm Cory Sandler Pottery bringing in a 59:35 music theory I like it I like it a 59:40 lot do you guys know 59:44 pfia pfia is a really cool 59:48 band I saw them live once they're 59:51 [ __ ] Bonkers 59:54 live um 1:00:00 [Music] 1:00:04 hiia 1:00:12 1:00:28 making any money with it you can make 1:00:31 money with 1:00:32 ch you don't need a better prompt you 1:00:35 don't need a better prompt you just need 1:00:37 me and my exclusive 17p part see 1:01:55 if we have a 145 song that doesn't sound 1:01:58 cliche and 1:02:05 boring like sun and 1:02:08 Shadow like waves and 1:02:11 straine 1:02:12 [Music] 1:02:14 [Applause] 1:02:19 together to do oh let me 1:02:59 go show you another thing all this is 1:03:02 just tonight is welcome to chat add on 1:03:05 steroids I'm just going to just share 1:03:07 random [ __ ] I think if anyone has 1:03:10 anything they want me to do put it up 1:03:11 there and I'll probably ignore it I 1:03:13 heard this is a place where the 1:03:14 Irregulars hang out it's 1:03:16 true um I feel like it needs custom 1:03:20 instructions to clamp down on the cliche 1:03:23 I know I know was that live regenerated 1:03:27 what the music I was just playing oh 1:03:29 wait the the pfia is 1:03:35 [Music] crazy riffs that are impossible to play 1:04:10 and then he figures out how to play 1:04:12 them so so it's got oh God damn 1:04:19 it it's got um it's got roots in AI um 1:04:24 but they play all this [ __ ] live it's 1:04:26 it's absolutely 1:04:27 Bonkers it's Bonkers I tell you it's 1:04:30 Bonkers I tell 1:04:33 you 1:04:36 [Music] 1:04:42 um uh what was I going to show you I was 1:04:45 progressive rock to the band pfia 1:05:41 so perplexity is kind of like a Google 1:05:45 Search and chat GPT had a 1:05:49 baby so there's 1:05:51 Pia's promo 1:05:54 shots and now it's off doing research so 1:05:58 it's researching eight different 1:06:01 sources definition of progressive rock 1:06:04 abbreviated as Prague rock or simply 1:06:06 Prague a genre of rock music that 1:06:08 emerged predominantly in the United 1:06:10 Kingdom United States and Germany during 1:06:12 the 60s and early 70s known for its 1:06:14 Fusion of Rock with other musical 1:06:18 styles early years Beatles Moody Blues 1:06:22 Pink Floyd Evolution and subg genres 1:06:24 pfia 1:06:28 now check this out so there so there's 1:06:30 my research and I you know and I've got 1:06:32 all these sources that I can go look at 1:06:34 all this stuff really 1:06:35 slick up here on the 1:06:38 right convert to 1:06:44 page so this is now going to write me an 1:06:47 article that I can 1:06:50 publish of a well 1:06:53 researched article 1:06:56 on progressive rock leading up to and 1:07:00 including the band 1:07:02 pfia Evolution and sub 1:07:10 genres emerging in 2010 pfia redefined 1:07:14 progressive rock for the modern era by 1:07:16 blending virtu virtuis 1:07:20 virtuis guitar work with elements of 1:07:22 trap hipop and electronic music their 1:07:24 evolution of metal induc uced early 1:07:27 releases genre defying albums like new 1:07:30 levels new devils and remember that you 1:07:32 will die in 2022 showcases the band's 1:07:35 Innovative approach blah blah blah now 1:07:37 for every one of these I can add 1:07:39 media so there they are playing in some 1:07:43 thing sub genres let's edit this and 1:07:46 let's make this a table instead of just 1:07:50 paragraphs we'll rewrite that section 1:07:52 for 1:07:54 us with a table 1:07:59 yeah that's 1:08:01 good like 1:08:04 it let's 1:08:06 uh let's add some 1:08:10 media shall 1:08:12 we rock and metal sub genres 1:08:17 cool I can insert a section I can insert 1:08:20 more media here influential bands 1:08:27 all right that's good add 1:08:30 media change we don't want that twice so 1:08:33 we'll throw that in 1:08:35 there drag these guys 1:08:39 down let me see 1:08:56 Del publish all right I published my 1:09:00 first article yay you did it you're a 1:09:03 writer what's cool about the way it 1:09:06 publishes these it does not say I wrote 1:09:08 this it says it was curated by 1:09:11 me which I think 1:09:13 is appropriate and accurate and kind of 1:09:22 cool so I'm now going to go put in the 1:09:24 Irregulars channel so so if you go 1:09:28 to the salon. A and shortly below the 1:09:32 fold are two buttons the one on the 1:09:34 right is join our community that'll take 1:09:36 you over to this swell 1:09:39 site where you get welcomed to the salon 1:09:42 and you can read about the the journey 1:09:45 to AI literacy and our values and [ __ ] 1:09:48 like that in down the leftand side if 1:09:50 you scroll to the bottom there's an area 1:09:52 called Community clubs the very first 1:09:54 one is AI learning Irregulars that's us 1:09:58 so I'm going to 1:10:00 paste that in 1:10:04 there oh I don't think it it didn't give 1:10:07 me a good preview did it that poo poo 1:10:12 head sh so let's go make one where is my 1:10:18 perplexity hello perplexity where are 1:10:21 you where art th perplexity there we are 1:10:25 hello Cherry pip pip carry 1:10:29 on fantastic Bob tell him what he's W uh 1:10:33 we haven't won anything we're not 1:10:34 actually playing a game Cheerio carrying 1:10:37 on then rather do I have egg on my face 1:10:41 oh that's just the egg on my face 1:10:50 [Music] 1:10:59 boom so now you can go to that 1:11:03 page and go check out all the sources 1:11:05 and read about the history of Prague 1:11:12 Rock 1:11:16 imagine saying Thursday is journalism 1:11:19 day we're going to learn about 1:11:21 journalism and the first half of the day 1:11:24 you teach people about research and 1:11:26 Googling 1:11:28 and writing and citations you make them 1:11:31 do it the oldfashioned 1:11:34 way and then you say if you're still 1:11:36 awake by 1:11:38 3:30 we're going to try something new 1:11:40 and you take them to perplexity and you 1:11:42 let them build their own magazine out of 1:11:45 these 1:11:50 articles and then the next 1:11:53 day you talk about what the difference 1:11:57 was did they like researching 1:12:00 traditionally 1:12:01 better were the were the perplexity 1:12:05 Pages inaccurate or [ __ ] up in any way 1:12:08 did they fix them could they fix 1:12:22 them like Jim Ross is in here Jim like I 1:12:25 I would imagine like you could knock 1:12:29 out [ __ ] dozens of these articles on 1:12:33 every little kind of sub topic in the 1:12:36 storage 1:12:38 business and just send them out to 1:12:40 customers here there's an article I 1:12:42 wrote for you I curated for you you 1:12:45 don't even have to represent that you 1:12:47 wrote it just here I put this together 1:12:48 for 1:12:51 you I put in a solid seven minutes for 1:12:54 you because I care 1:12:59 Bonkers 1:13:00 right all 1:13:02 right I've published several articles 1:13:05 using this so far one specifically for a 1:13:07 vendor there you 1:13:09 go be like 1:13:13 Jim just play just 1:13:16 play do anything just do 1:13:23 anything go forth spawn 1:13:28 on I'm trying to figure out what I'm 1:13:30 going to talk to Congress about I think 1:13:31 I think I only have two minutes as my 1:13:33 guess I find 1:13:35 out 1:13:38 tomorrow I think it's going to be 1:13:45 like you know talking about the AI Salon 1:13:49 being this amazing group of everyday 1:13:53 people who are AI optimists and they're 1:13:55 exploring and discovering and 1:14:02 playing and I think I'm going to tell 1:14:04 stories of like how it's impacted 1:14:07 people's 1:14:12 lives and talk about 1:14:17 how even though ai's been around for 1:14:20 decades November 30th 1:14:22 2022 the launch of chat GPT is the the 1:14:26 seminal moment that 1:14:28 unlocked all this power to Everyday 1:14:32 People and that if they legislate from a 1:14:35 place of 1:14:37 fear and they think their job is to 1:14:39 protect us from 1:14:41 AI the risks of 1:14:44 AI they're missing the opportunity to 1:14:49 protect our ability to access these 1:14:52 tools to transform Our 1:14:54 Lives so I think it's going to be that 1:14:56 and I think I'm going to get a Kevin 1:14:57 mallister moment in 1:15:00 there that I'm going to say when when 1:15:02 people join the AI Salon or or the AI 1:15:06 learning lab I tell them to play with 1:15:08 chat gbt long enough to have their first 1:15:10 Kevin mallister 1:15:17 moment see if I can make the national 1:15:19 news by making a stupid [ __ ] 1:15:23 face but they'll be cover and Netanyahu 1:15:26 I think he's speaking that day too so I 1:15:28 don't think anyone's going to give two 1:15:29 shits about the AI stuff but we'll 1:15:32 see can you stream it live I think 1:15:35 c-span's uh streaming it live it's a 1:15:37 joint session of Congress uh my son and 1:15:39 his girlfriend are taking over about a 1:15:41 $100 General Stores biggest challenge oh 1:15:44 this is 1:15:49 fascinating drum roll please biggest 1:15:51 challenge $100 General Stores the fact 1:15:54 that nothing C cost a dollar anymore 1:15:57 they're going to have to change the name 1:15:58 to $5 1:15:59 General all in different states so 1:16:02 different rules yeah there you go so 1:16:04 like that would be a 1:16:06 perfect so they could do this in a 1:16:08 couple of ways if if they wanted to do 1:16:10 it really simply they could take State 1:16:12 rules take just take the 1:16:15 um the different websites of the of the 1:16:20 state byst state rules put those into 1:16:25 build build a GPT that's got all the 1:16:27 state rules in it or build a GPT per 1:16:31 state and put all the data in there that 1:16:34 would be amazing dollar and quarter 1:16:36 story 1:16:38 exactly I'd make a GPT with all the 1:16:41 state rules of knowledge exactly Silver 1:16:43 Fox great minds think alike yeah exactly 1:16:45 make make some we did that with um my 1:16:50 co-founder the uh next to her house 1:16:53 there was some [ __ ] Builder that was 1:16:55 Breaking All the Town rules um when they 1:16:58 were building this the house next to 1:17:01 hers and so she made a GPT we made one 1:17:04 where we found the the building code for 1:17:07 Denver and we just put it in the GPT and 1:17:10 then she could go into the GPT and say 1:17:13 Here's what they're doing does that what 1:17:15 codes does that violate and it would 1:17:17 just spit it out it would cite the code 1:17:19 it was pretty cool 1:17:25 Dollar General stores are evil yeah 1:17:27 they're a 1:17:30 mess 1:17:32 [Music] 1:17:40 um basically knowledge is power exactly 1:17:44 I'm an AI 1:17:47 Enthusiast you are you're good at this 1:17:52 [ __ ] all right I feel like I 1:17:58 have whatever energy I had to talk about 1:18:02 [ __ ] has been 1:18:04 saded my brain just 1:18:11 went [ __ ] shut that [ __ ] 1:18:14 down all right what's going on over here 1:18:17 let me make sure I'm not missing 1:18:19 anything 1:18:45 yeah all right let's see Teton skier 1:18:49 Facebook has a created with AI tag now 1:18:52 for images you upload then it explains 1:18:54 to viewers what generative AI 1:18:59 is so Teton 1:19:02 skier is it if one of their Technologies 1:19:06 generated it or it's it's pulling 1:19:09 metadata from a generated image cuz what 1:19:13 if I what if I took a photograph 1:19:16 in my 1:19:18 camera and I went into Photoshop and I 1:19:21 extend it and I use generative fill to 1:19:24 extend my photo is that tagged as 1:19:27 generative 1:19:30 AI I I feel like tagging things that are 1:19:33 that are AI generated 1:19:37 is is as shortterm and useless as AI 1:19:41 detectors in 1:19:44 schools any in-person AI Meetup still 1:19:47 going on in Denver want to plan a 1:19:50 monthly work trip around one oh um there 1:19:55 are we're going to 1:19:57 do I forget what the date is on it Jim 1:20:00 and I think we're going to try to 1:20:02 partner up with some local we're going 1:20:04 to we're going to rethink the the local 1:20:06 meetups I I think I want to make the 1:20:08 local meetups have a bit more meat on 1:20:09 the bone on them than they currently do 1:20:12 so um yeah let's just we'll connect 1:20:15 offline I posted a mid Journey image and 1:20:18 it recognized it that's interesting 1:20:21 try Teton skier try taking 1:20:25 a screenshot of 1:20:29 it put that screenshot into Photoshop 1:20:32 and save it as a JPEG out of Photoshop 1:20:35 or a PNG and see if it still recognizes 1:20:39 it as a mid journey I I I bet that 1:20:43 they're 1:20:46 just there could be metadata in the 1:20:49 image itself but I bet they're just 1:20:51 taking the file file name structure is 1:20:54 my guess 1:20:56 but it'd be an interesting experiment 1:20:57 screenshot the same image take it into 1:21:00 Photoshop or 1:21:02 preview and Export it as a as a new 1:21:05 image and see if 1:21:07 it see if it still recognizes it a 1:21:11 losing proposition tagging AI generated 1:21:13 content I mean I think what would be 1:21:15 more interesting quite frankly is 1:21:19 um verifying the 1:21:22 person verifying that the person 1:21:25 uploaded that image that image and then 1:21:28 verifying that that image hasn't been 1:21:31 modified that set of metad dat is really 1:21:33 interesting to me oh okay so that was 1:21:36 from Sally I know that Sally's real 1:21:38 because there's a green check mark that 1:21:39 says Sally's real I now know that that 1:21:42 thing that was uploaded was uploaded by 1:21:45 Sally and I also know that it hasn't 1:21:47 been modified from the time she uploaded 1:21:50 it how do we do that some sort of 1:21:53 tokenization like blockchain 1:21:57 that seems to me way more interesting 1:21:59 than did you use AI to make 1:22:04 that did you use a digital camera cuz 1:22:07 it's not it's not a real photograph if 1:22:10 it wasn't taken on Silver Halli 1:22:14 film those aren't photographs those are 1:22:17 pixels that's not photography okay okay 1:22:24 [Laughter] 1:22:31 what tool I use to make the art I CH 1:22:33 choose to share with the world is none 1:22:35 of your [ __ ] business now if I'm 1:22:38 trying to defraud 1:22:41 you that's your [ __ ] 1:22:44 business but just because I use AI 1:22:47 doesn't mean I'm trying to defraud you 1:22:49 it's like it's like the it's like 1:22:51 everyone is [ __ ] seduced into 1:22:53 thinking that the technology is the 1:23:00 problem the technology is not the 1:23:02 problem how people use it is the 1:23:11 problem if I make a song called weird 1:23:13 Mary from Cedar 1:23:16 Hill and I make a video of 1:23:26 most people have 1:23:31 [Music] 1:23:44 [Music] 1:24:09 [Music] 1:24:17 Cedar Hill is a quiet 1:24:21 town where the oak trees sway 1:24:26 the whistle of the train Echoes through 1:24:29 the 1:24:31 [Music] 1:24:33 day people greet you with a 1:24:37 nod nothing ever seems to 1:24:41 change but the story still 1:24:44 unfold each unique and 1:24:49 strange she grew up 1:24:52 tough in the town we called 1:24:57 Home Folks never took to her no 1:25:03 [Music] 1:25:05 matter longing to be on the 1:25:09 inside longing for love just a 1:25:13 little she found herself as a guest in 1:25:17 the nervous 1:25:22 Hospital weird marry from Cedar 1:25:26 Hill she when she's 1:25:30 BL of sadness and 1:25:34 shame 1:25:37 so if I 1:25:39 decide if I decide 1:25:42 to make that song and make that video 1:25:46 and publish that to the 1:25:48 world does it matter how I made 1:25:51 it does it matter if I used Logic Pro 1:25:57 and and sampled guitars or if I recorded 1:26:00 it with a Sennheiser mic and a real 1:26:04 guitar or if I made it with AI does it 1:26:07 [ __ ] 1:26:14 matter why why does it 1:26:22 matter now if I'm trying to steal 1:26:25 someone's song idea if I'm trying to 1:26:28 steal a 1:26:31 concept then that's somewhere between 1:26:34 shitty behavior and 1:26:42 theft if the concept for that song were 1:26:46 made with AI but it was recorded 1:26:50 traditionally and if I filmed all these 1:26:52 things with a camera 1:26:55 instead of having Kelly Bosch make these 1:26:59 with 1:27:00 AI would that make this more legitimate 1:27:03 if it was the exact same production 1:27:07 values I don't think 1:27:13 so why does it 1:27:17 matter it don't [ __ ] 1:27:21 matter does not matter in the irre to 1:27:23 the Irregulars that's 1:27:25 [Laughter] 1:27:32 true oh 1:27:39 man I think everyone's wrapped up in the 1:27:45 technology AI is the evil AI is going to 1:27:48 kill us AI is stealing from all the 1:27:52 artists well artists Ste from 1:27:58 artists if I go to music 1:28:01 school and I fall in love with Herby 1:28:03 Hancock and how he plays piano and how 1:28:05 he writes and how he arranges and how he 1:28:07 produces 1:28:09 songs and I leave Music School inspired 1:28:12 by Herby Hancock a lot of my shit's 1:28:14 going to sound like Herby 1:28:18 Hancock you should see all the people on 1:28:20 Tik Tok playing guitar like Tim Henson 1:28:23 the lead guitarist from from 1:28:26 pfia he came up with a completely unique 1:28:32 [ __ ] mindbending way to play a 1:28:35 guitar nobody plays guitar like that 1:28:38 well they do 1:28:46 now that's what AI is doing but it's 1:28:48 just doing it at scale and I think 1:28:50 that's what freaks people out oh I just 1:28:52 you know the Big T tech company 1:28:55 are well 1:28:58 yeah I will not argue that the big tech 1:29:01 companies have likely trained all of 1:29:03 their [ __ ] on all of the data that they 1:29:06 were not allowed 1:29:08 to no argument there but we wouldn't 1:29:13 have access to these tools had they not 1:29:15 done 1:29:16 it and if every one of them would have 1:29:18 been like good legal legal 1:29:23 Eagles High music hey we're training an 1:29:27 artificial intelligence system um on all 1:29:29 of the music of the world and we were 1:29:31 hoping 1:29:32 [Laughter] 1:29:36 that none of this [ __ ] would 1:29:42 exist so the the 1:29:46 horse doth Escapist the 1:29:50 barn so now that it's here we've got 1:29:54 these tools 1:30:00 I actually think Adobe has the right 1:30:02 idea on this I don't know if if they're 1:30:03 going to implement it ever but they 1:30:05 talked about 1:30:06 it where artists are going to be able to 1:30:09 opt out of being in models or they're 1:30:11 going to be able to opt into being in a 1:30:13 model and they're going to get 1:30:15 compensated on the 1:30:16 generation or attribution or 1:30:20 compensation so I think there's ways 1:30:23 around 1:30:27 the some of the very real issues like 1:30:29 those issues are very very real I don't 1:30:33 I don't pretend to think that there's 1:30:35 not gray or even dark gray areas here or 1:30:40 black there's some areas that are just 1:30:42 [ __ ] flat out wrong 1:30:44 and all these models exist and they're 1:30:47 going to keep training them and they're 1:30:48 going to keep doing this they're going 1:30:49 to keep scraping the internet they just 1:30:51 are 1:30:55 so you know this was no different than 1:30:58 hip-hop in the in the 1:31:00 80s they're stealing the 1:31:03 music and then they worked it out they 1:31:05 okay up to 7 Seconds up to 7.2 seconds 1:31:10 it's called fair use and you can use up 1:31:12 to 7.2 seconds but if it's recognizable 1:31:15 then you're going to have to cut a 1:31:16 licensing deal with the holder and the 1:31:18 publisher and the 1:31:22 artist I don't know they [ __ ] figured 1:31:25 it out I don't think they're going to be 1:31:26 able to figure this [ __ ] out this is way 1:31:27 too 1:31:31 complicated cuz the way AI systems work 1:31:35 the original Works cease to exist they 1:31:38 get embedded and they get turned into to 1:31:44 vectors what is a vector prale it is a 1:31:48 point in mathematical thousand 1:31:49 dimensional mathematical space that 1:31:52 represents a component of some larger 1:31:58 thing the original work ceases to exist 1:32:01 when it when you put it into the latent 1:32:07 space so I I just 1:32:11 anyway man we're down a rabbit hole now 1:32:13 good 1:32:16 Lord when are we going to get started 1:32:18 tonight 1:32:30 but then it says we require you to label 1:32:33 so that was after you did a screenshot 1:32:35 of it huh that's 1:32:38 fascinating did I hear those index cards 1:32:41 no those were just card cards but I do 1:32:42 have my index cards in my back 1:32:44 pocket right here I added a new one the 1:32:47 other day 1:32:56 I am authentic I am real my work matters 1:33:00 in the 1:33:11 [Applause] 1:33:14 world what are those index cards what's 1:33:16 everybody talking about what are the 1:33:17 index 1:33:22 cards these are me 1:33:27 I get a chance daily to 1:33:32 generate who I 1:33:37 am and I don't do it 1:33:40 [Applause] 1:33:47 [Music] 1:33:49 enough Amelia's wife I love those cards 1:33:52 think I might try that card hard thing 1:33:55 thinking you want to hear my you want to 1:33:57 hear my you want to hear who I am let me 1:34:00 recreate myself right 1:34:03 now so this is work I did with a a guy 1:34:06 named towns and Ward law really 1:34:09 brilliant 1:34:11 dude crazy in the best 1:34:14 way steuart SMY exactly I'm smart 1:34:19 enough wait I'm smart enough I'm good 1:34:23 wait I'm smart enough what is 1:34:29 it and dug on it people like 1:34:35 me authenticity in human connector 1:34:38 through these tools is the magic 1:34:41 yep yep indeed 1:34:50 indeed countability time 10 still 1:34:53 remember remember that 1:34:55 video wow cool all right I live life out 1:34:59 loud and make a huge difference where I 1:35:01 show 1:35:02 up I heard a really cool um I think it was a 1:37:10 Tik Tock is one of those Tik Tock wisdom 1:37:14 things just a shift in how 1:37:18 you 1:37:22 frame things 1:37:25 that if you have an inner dialogue of I 1:37:27 have to do this I have to do that if you 1:37:29 reframe it as I get to do this I get to 1:37:33 do that it's really quite 1:37:37 amazing because if you think about like 1:37:40 oh I have to learn 1:37:43 AI what if you reframe that as I get to 1:37:46 learn 1:37:49 AI I'm lucky enough to live at a time in 1:37:53 history 1:37:54 where I get to learn AI holy [ __ ] 1:38:00 [ __ ] that's a cool 1:38:05 reframe I have to drive my kids to the 1:38:07 doctors once a week I get to drive my 1:38:09 kids to the doctors once a week I get to 1:38:12 spend time with 1:38:14 them such a opportunity to wonder if 1:38:35 Kyle's ever going to finish a [ __ ] 1:38:40 sentence screenshot posted in Irregulars 1:38:43 oh boy what did I 1:38:47 do oh no 1:38:55 [Laughter] 1:38:57 oops 1:39:00 ah oh labeling your content wow 1:39:06 wild yeah what is why does it 1:39:13 matter labeling your 1:39:19 content that's the image that you posted 1:39:21 that Facebook's labeling 1:39:30 seriously I mean honest to God who the 1:39:32 [ __ ] cares if you produce that in Dolly 1:39:36 mid 1:39:37 Journey or illustrator or photoshop or 1:39:41 on a [ __ ] 1:39:43 easel who gives a [ __ ] why is that 1:39:49 relevant I don't get it I really don't I 1:39:54 don't get 1:40:04 it it's like I just feel like everyone's 1:40:07 fighting the wrong [ __ ] fight with 1:40:13 AI did he use the devil's tool did he 1:40:16 use the devil's 1:40:18 tool he used the devil's 1:40:21 tool he's a thief he's a heretic burn 1:40:24 the 1:40:27 heretic what other than ducks 1:40:32 float very small 1:40:34 [Laughter] 1:40:39 rocks my day goes great after lifting 1:40:43 listening to Kyle's AI sermon Hallelujah 1:40:50 brother ah 1:40:57 Bonkers Bonkers 1:41:02 people if we put if we put him in water 1:41:05 and he floats he's a witch she's a witch 1:41:07 burn her burn 1:41:10 [Laughter] 1:41:13 her he made that 1:41:16 little image he made it with artificial 1:41:19 intelligence it was artificial and it 1:41:22 was intelligent and he used it to make 1:41:24 an image it is an image of the Devil Run 1:41:35 Away good 1:41:39 [Laughter] 1:41:50 God I assume this thing in Washington DC 1:41:53 is just going to be be us saying our 1:41:54 little statements and then we walk out I 1:41:57 assume they're not going to ask us any 1:42:00 questions but if they ask me some stupid 1:42:02 ass questions Mr Shannon Mr Shannon 1:42:07 explain to the explain to the 1:42:10 body uh how you can justify the theft 1:42:14 intellectual property Mr Shannon please 1:42:18 uh you seem very excited and optimistic 1:42:22 about this artificial in 1:42:24 please 1:42:29 explain listen don't get me wrong I have 1:42:32 great respect for our institutions it's 1:42:34 the people in them that I 1:42:38 hate for those just turning in tuning 1:42:44 in I I'm going to tell you another thing 1:42:46 you can make money with 1:42:49 ch I thought that was so funny that we 1:42:51 got an actual you can make money with 1:42:53 gbt ad 1:42:55 tonight and he was just as douchy as 1:42:58 this you can make money 1:43:01 with all right everybody's heard of chat 1:43:03 jpt but you know what they're not 1:43:04 telling you how you make money with chat 1:43:07 JP am I 1:43:13 right yeah if you don't know know that 1:43:16 little cliche moment why I make fun of 1:43:19 those people is that they're not making 1:43:21 money on chat GPT 1:43:23 they're making money by your fear that 1:43:26 you're not making money with chat GPT so 1:43:29 you're going to pay them money so they 1:43:31 can tell you how to make money with chat 1:43:34 GPT cuz if they were making money with 1:43:37 chat GPT they wouldn't be making [ __ ] 1:43:39 videos trying to sell you courses on how 1:43:42 to make money with 1:43:48 Chim you 1:43:51 see it's all so wrong 1:43:56 oh Frank needs Congress assume that 1:43:59 those in the know in Congress are about 1:44:01 one 12,000 less than you do Kyle I know 1:44:05 but you 1:44:06 know they know stuff about like you know 1:44:10 how to get Insider information to buy 1:44:12 stocks and bonds I don't know how to do 1:44:14 that but I have chat GPT for that I can 1:44:17 make money with chat GPT by um what is 1:44:20 it called Mirror trading mirror trading 1:44:22 Nancy Pelosi 1:44:23 [Laughter] 1:44:26 oh good 1:44:27 [Laughter] 1:44:34 lord ton skier do you mean Kyle should 1:44:37 click the wave image should 1:44:41 I 1:44:52 oh add a AI 1:44:55 label we 1:44:58 require to label certain realistic 1:45:02 content that's made with 1:45:16 AI listen it's an election year I get 1:45:20 that there's going to be a lot of deep 1:45:21 fakes but you it's an IM of [ __ ] 1:45:25 colorful 1:45:35 waves kind of voluntary yeah well it 1:45:38 says we require you to label it I assume 1:45:41 can you not move past it or can does it 1:45:44 let you post it without labeling it 1:45:47 that's bizarre it's bizarre man whatever 1:45:53 whatever people oh it does okay all 1:45:57 right well that's 1:45:59 good but we require it so does that mean 1:46:05 oh I guess what it means is 1:46:07 this if you don't label it and you do 1:46:10 put up something fraudulent or 1:46:13 problematic then they could say we'll 1:46:16 kick you off the platform cuz you didn't 1:46:18 label it and we require it I that's 1:46:20 that's probably what this is is this is 1:46:23 [ __ ] 1:46:25 [Laughter] 1:46:26 lawyers okay well if we if we put up a 1:46:29 uh a thing that says we require it and 1:46:32 and they they post it without checking 1:46:34 that box and then it becomes problematic 1:46:36 now we go back to them and we have 1:46:37 recourse you see we need the recourse to 1:46:40 be able to go after the litigious 1:46:43 situation with the and we're getting 1:46:45 sued for the political infringement on 1:46:48 the rights of the voters and 1:47:00 see you know what's the problem is I'm 1:47:03 going to go there and I'm going to talk 1:47:04 about some you know high flutin ideals 1:47:07 of AI optimism and then and then one of 1:47:10 the Senators got Mr Shannon uh we did 1:47:12 some research and uh we understand that 1:47:16 you're on this uh Chinese owned uh Tick 1:47:20 Tock Tik Tock platform uh with this 1:47:22 channel called the learning lab and uh 1:47:25 here it is here's some video of you 1:47:27 disparaging us uh saying that we're 1:47:30 stupid and idiotic so let's just play 1:47:33 that video um do that Senator yeah 1:47:36 Senator Senator Senator wake up Senator 1:47:40 we're talking about AI here if you if 1:47:42 you run the video of Mr Shannon 1:47:45 disparaging the 1:47:51 house I don't think think I'll cause 1:47:54 [Laughter] 1:48:02 controversy Katie Porter's whiteboard 1:48:04 exactly Mr 1:48:07 Shannon if if a if a housewife in toeka 1:48:11 Kansas was to buy a frozen pizza do you 1:48:14 know how much frozen pizzas are Mr 1:48:15 Shannon no no oh you think they're 1:48:19 $342 1:48:21 $1.78 that's on average a okay topa 1:48:24 Kansas 1:48:25 $148 that's for the Supreme Pizza okay 1:48:29 and what if she wanted to buy some soap 1:48:32 detergent Mr Shannon how much would that 1:48:35 be 1:48:37 $7 when did you grow up the 1:48:40 80s 1:48:43 $234 okay now she pays $20 to chat 1:48:48 GPT how does she make money with chat 1:48:50 GPT 1:48:54 I love Katie Porter don't cause 1:48:57 controversy cause 1:49:05 [Laughter] 1:49:07 chaos oh man she's the 1:49:10 best it's like those those CEOs of the 1:49:14 bank when when she she's like how much 1:49:16 do you think they make a year like I 1:49:19 don't know $78,000 $23,000 1:49:26 when we subtract taxes and her house 1:49:28 payment into this she's left with 72 1:49:31 cents for the month for 1:49:33 groceries Mr Jamie Diamond of JP Morgan 1:49:37 Chase how how do you stretch 78 cents to 1:49:41 cover the food cost for a family of four 1:49:44 and she's like who the [ __ ] is this 1:49:46 woman why am I 1:49:52 here Frank makes a special appearance in 1:49:56 [Laughter] 1:50:03 Congress all right here's the headline I 1:50:05 just run je AI ordered a launch oh yeah 1:50:08 the the 1:50:11 uh the the Trump side is going to do 1:50:14 some sort of Manhattan Project as if AI 1:50:17 wasn't scary enough the the uh that side 1:50:21 of the aisle is gonna is going to do a 1:50:25 um an executive order that funds a 1:50:28 Manhattan style project to weaponize 1:50:32 AI what could possibly go 1:50:39 wrong can't we all just make pictures of 1:50:42 waves and call it a 1:50:49 day just made we we made pretty pictures 1:50:52 with the 1:50:54 dear 1:50:55 Congress 1:50:57 uh my name is Kyle Shannon and I'm here 1:51:00 speaking on behalf of the a salon and we 1:51:04 like to make pretty 1:51:06 pictures and notice because of the 1:51:08 regulations you're passing meta is 1:51:11 requiring us to take even a simple 1:51:13 picture like this and label it 1:51:15 artificial intelligence and I would ask 1:51:17 you senators and Congress people why why 1:51:21 do you do that okay thank you very much 1:51:25 do I bow how do I what do I do with my 1:51:29 hands on the desk okay very ni 1:51:41 fantastic Katie Porter's her own meme 1:51:44 she really is Tom 1:51:48 help Moshi daily visit yeah I think we 1:51:52 should talk to Moshi 1:51:53 when next week is this taking place it 1:51:56 is July 24th so it's Wednesday we fly in 1:52:00 or I fly in Tuesday and the other 11 1:52:03 entrepreneurs fly in 1:52:05 Tuesday we have a dinner that night and 1:52:08 then I don't know what time of day our 1:52:10 thing 1:52:11 is if it's anything like the Colorado 1:52:15 um Judiciary Committee was We were 1:52:18 supposed to go on at 1:52:21 11:30 and I think we started talking at 1:52:27 6:30 so we were waiting around for some 1:52:30 hours 7even 1:52:32 hours so it's possible it's like that I 1:52:35 don't I don't know I don't I don't know 1:52:37 this politics 1:52:39 [ __ ] but Daisy Thomas is gonna she's 1:52:41 gonna she gonna hook me up all right 1:52:44 when next week oh yeah that's what it is 1:52:47 political time yeah 1:52:48 exactly oh man I'm still getting over 1:52:52 this space for 1:52:53 I know what the [ __ ] was with space 1:52:56 force you can't just go there's a new 1:52:59 arm of the military called space force 1:53:02 and like not talk about why you did 1:53:05 it is it because of the aliens is it 1:53:09 because of the nukes in Spa like what 1:53:11 tell us why you're doing 1:53:15 this I wanted space force I don't mind 1:53:18 it I think it's cool but I just like 1:53:21 like launching it without any context 1:53:23 was just 1:53:25 weird I Lov that when they launched it 1:53:28 like immediately the internet was like 1:53:31 they [ __ ] stole the Star Trek 1:53:37 badges oh man take a protein bar with 1:53:40 you 1:53:41 exactly oh man all right listen I'm 1:53:44 going to get out of 1:53:47 here I fairly confident we talked about 1:53:50 nothing tonight 1:53:53 so tonight was just like an episode of 1:53:57 Seinfeld the AI learning lab we learned 1:54:01 about 1:54:05 nothing well anyway how many people 1:54:07 stuck around for this nonsense 57 people 1:54:11 [ __ ] weirdos we're not weird we're 1:54:14 irregular 7h hour waiter Italians in 1:54:16 charge of the schedule well it was a 1:54:19 very similar sort of thing like it 1:54:22 wasn't it was just 1:54:25 like the time came and went and we're 1:54:28 like asking people like should we be 1:54:30 waiting around they're like I don't 1:54:33 know they're like okay and at some point 1:54:37 we're I think we were all getting ready 1:54:38 to leave and they're like okay it's on 1:54:40 they're like oh 1:54:41 okay we're like laded from not 1:54:45 eating we already done all of our 1:54:47 interviews with the local 1:54:50 newspapers oh good lord 1:54:53 [Laughter] 1:54:58 all right I'm getting out of here I 1:55:00 would tell you to follow my channel but 1:55:02 I oh by the way I finally cracked 36,000 1:55:06 I was at 35,9 for like eight years it 1:55:10 finally rolled over I rolled the 1:55:11 odometer over the Galactic Federation 1:55:14 had to start somewhere Kyle I know it's 1:55:17 true um you can follow my channel I 1:55:21 don't think it matters like someone came 1:55:23 in tonight and said like my lives are 1:55:25 not showing up in their feet anymore I 1:55:27 don't [ __ ] know I don't know how Tik 1:55:29 Tok 1:55:30 Works apparently they don't show any of 1:55:32 the videos I make to anyone so now I'm 1:55:34 like I'm all demotivated to make them 1:55:36 because I'm like well who's [ __ ] 1:55:39 supposed to get 1:55:42 him like they got it set up so like 1:55:45 they're like Mr Shannon listen um we've 1:55:50 given you 18 months and you're making 1:55:52 all the content which you think people 1:55:54 are actually enjoying we've got the 1:55:56 statistics they're not uh what we're 1:55:59 hoping you could do is do a little bit 1:56:01 more shopping content and then if you 1:56:03 want to do the dancing you don't have to 1:56:05 do twerking twerking was kind of three 1:56:07 years ago there there are a new kind of 1:56:09 Dances with with some of the kids are 1:56:11 doing with the they're twisting their 1:56:12 feet in certain ways and they're leaning 1:56:14 back and jiggling their hips so if you 1:56:16 could do that and well with that body 1:56:19 probably not but you know uh revealing 1:56:22 swimwear could be an interesting 1:56:24 approach uh or very short videos where 1:56:26 you just say something controversial and 1:56:28 then turn off the camera all of those 1:56:30 seem to be working terrific if you could 1:56:32 do that that would be 1:56:40 awesome I just think you need revealing 1:56:42 swimwear and the chat GPT button oh 1:56:44 that'd be good you make money 1:56:47 with you know what I should [ __ ] try 1:56:50 that I'll put on stupid ass music 1:56:54 you can make 1:56:56 money and then just that's it [ __ ] 10 1:56:59 seconds of that and just put up a 1:57:01 [ __ ] month of that I'll have 8 1:57:04 million 1:57:06 followers we don't know why we watching 1:57:08 but we just love that gold 1:57:11 button and be like you can make money 1:57:14 with ch get the chat jpt button on a Tik 1:57:17 Tok shop oh by the way we have 1:57:19 Madagascar vanilla beans too 1:57:25 I'm just 1:57:26 bitter all 1:57:32 right udio dance 1:57:35 [Laughter] 1:57:38 party all right fine I'm going to leave 1:57:41 I'll buy one of those buttons I I 1:57:43 seriously need to make the buttons 1:57:44 because I know I could sell at least 50 1:57:46 buttons 57 1:57:50 buttons vanilla bean splits 1:57:53 exactly exactly all right I'm going to 1:57:57 get out of here let's do our little 1:57:58 Romper Room magic mirror who's in the 1:58:00 house tonight Steve H yud Orso okay 1:58:03 great 1:58:05 question I don't have a clear answer 1:58:07 right now if you want audio quality 1:58:11 udio but it's a pain in the ass CU it 1:58:13 only does 30 seconds at a time and then 1:58:16 you got to keep extending by 30 seconds 1:58:18 but sonically yud is better if you want 1:58:22 to start 1:58:24 with stuff you record or singing and 1:58:26 have it make a song out of that 1:58:29 sunno or if you want to just put in a 1:58:32 whole pile of lyrics and have it make a 1:58:34 whole song 1:58:35 sunno but the problem with sunno is the 1:58:38 the singing sounds everything sounds 1:58:41 autotuned it sounds very AI generated 1:58:44 udio doesn't or it sounds less AI 1:58:47 generated all 1:58:49 right digital Danny's in the house 1:58:52 course Sandler Pottery still hanging out 1:58:54 Lord digital Gods good to see you Obi 1:58:56 Wan is back in the house good to see you 1:58:58 I
