38. 10:16only you can go to PO you can make a poot po.com poe.com and you can use uh open AI models oh no you can't use open
39. 10:26AI models the good ones unless you're paid there but you can make chat Bots at po so if you mean by assist by assistant
40. 10:35you mean chatbot you can do that at PO for free I just want to create my AI assistant I don't know what that means
41. 10:43though you mean like one that takes take a takes action on your behalf the tools aren't really there for that open AI
42. 10:50just released swarms which is some sort of a gentic something or other I haven't looked deeply enough into it yet to know
43. 10:57what that is but I would say give 3 to 6 months and it'll be relatively trivial to create an assistant is my is
44. 11:05my guess right now it's still requires development if you're a developer you could probably do one right
45. 11:12now Brent Peterson is doing a lot of that stuff right now but that's all that's all with coding you should all go to GPT and ask what's
46. 11:22something about me you may not know if you have memory turned on in chat GPT you can ask it that question

71. 16:45that we can talk about that so I was on a I was on Ann Murphy has a podcast called the empowered fundraiser show I am not a
72. 16:59fundraiser nor am I empowered but she had a laps in judgment and had me on her show um and we had a really good talk
73. 17:08good talk today she wanted me to talk about digital Twins and we talked about all sorts of stuff what's going on with
74. 17:14AI what's what you know what are these es and flows how do you how do you deal with this [ __ ] we talked a lot about
75. 17:21that and then we talked a little bit about digital Twins and so to catch up on digital twins if you don't know that term
76. 17:30the history of it is is really from the digital simulation world like a digital twin you might have a digital twin of a
77. 17:36I don't know of a control panel for you know a nuclear power plant and you've got all the dials and you can turn them
78. 17:43and it simulates it's a digital twin of what you would do if you were in the in the control center um and you can also make them of people
79. 17:55and there's there's kind of an infinite number of ways to do that but a way that that I stumbled upon with with a group
80. 18:02that I work with called content Evolution was we basically start with a structured interview so we have chat GPT
81. 18:11help us come up with an interview like if I were going to inter interview someone to really understand who they
82. 18:17were and you know what their background is and what they've done professionally and what they've done personally and um
83. 18:23you know how they solve problems and how they face adversity all that chat GPT will come up with the questions for you
84. 18:30it's really quite good at it and then what we discovered is um if you type out the answers to that question set the digital twins suck
85. 18:40they don't they're not very good but if you record someone ideally you have someone else do the interview on
86. 18:50video and then take the transcript of that you could also do it in audio the reason we did it in video is because we
87. 18:56figure at some point we'll be able to take the video and use that as the basis for a visual digital twin this is so this is just a
88. 19:04GPT digital twin but you record someone answering the questions as if they're talking you know like words to another
89. 19:15person the digital twins get really good they get really powerful and they they kind of they tend to talk like The
90. 19:21person talks and um they're they're pretty good and then what I talked about is we take those into individual digital
91. 19:30Twins and we put them together into a master digital twin that was like a little community of digital twins that
92. 19:36you could then interact with it's pretty slick and so the question is can we can we do that tonight there's a couple of

103. 21:52bad looks a little different but passable fishe lens close-up shots a person stares into a fogged up bathroom mirror
104. 22:08the camera tight on their trembling face as the fog clears their reflection begins to emerge it didn't quite do the prompt it's not
105. 22:18bad what's this one that's trippy that's pretty trippy her little head movement there is weird keyboard

150. 32:20seen the instruction set for search it's pretty limited I have not yes this development is quite significant as the tech industry
151. 32:31particularly companies like Google increasingly relies on AI their energy needs are skyrocketing nuclear power
152. 32:37particularly those small modular react reactors smrs offers a clean reliable source of energy Sam alman's involvement
153. 32:45in OKO OKO or Okio OKO um a leading SMR company places him at the Forefront of the shift it not only reinforces nuclear pow's
154. 32:56role um all right I guess that's what I would say um uh what does this have to do with daytoday AI for regular
155. 33:23people for most people the shift will not directly impact their life however it's significant for future as AI tools
156. 33:30like chat GPT become more widespread Tech infrastructure requires energy all right so I'm going to so a way you can

166. 35:42one another so one way to do this is just ad hoc you've got access to different digital Twins and then with
167. 35:48the at symbol you can call them into a chat that's one way to do it the other way we did it so again just to explain what a digital twin
168. 35:59is we created a a structured questionnaire that the person that we making the digital twin of answered and and so it was like educational
169. 36:09background business background you know family background I think we had some health stuff in there we had how do you solve
170. 36:16problem stuff in there we had cultural stuff like you know what's a piece of art that made a difference in your life
171. 36:22who's a person that made a difference in your life and what did they do things like that so it's a whole bunch of
172. 36:28questions and how we created that is we went to chat jpt and we said help us craft a structured set of questions that
173. 36:37when someone answers them it will reveal who they are essentially right their worldview things like that and then we edited those
174. 36:46but like what I what I learned is rather than just giving you that set of questions just know that that's the the
175. 36:52thing because you can do different sets of questions for different scenarios so learn to do the learn to do the thing
176. 37:02um so we made all these individual gpts but then we wanted to put them into one master GPT now one of the constraints of
177. 37:10custom gpts is that you can only upload 20 files to zero so at the point at which we exceeded 20 people we couldn't do it
178. 37:22anymore like we couldn't add any more people cuz we basically took a transcript from each person and put them
179. 37:29into the GPT and once we hit 20 we were done so what we did was we created a Google spreadsheet that had all their
180. 37:38metadata like their you know website their LinkedIn profile their phone number their email all that stuff and
181. 37:46then a field for their entire transcript so we made a single CSV file effectively that is the source of Truth
182. 37:54for all of the different members of content of ution I think we're up to 28 now or 30 and so we so that that CSV then
183. 38:03becomes the knowledge for that larger GPT um and it's really cool because you can go in and you can just say you know
184. 38:14write an article from content Evolution and it basically writes it from the point of view of these 30 people and
185. 38:20then it identifies which are the three that are most qualified to comment on this AR article and then it produces
186. 38:29quotes from the three most relevant people pretty slick so I don't know if that answers your question I mean I know
187. 38:36that answers your question but it I feel like it was a shitty answer so anyway have you seen the instruction set for search pretty limited
188. 38:45okay of course the answer is Excel yeah I mean you know until further not I mean quite honestly um daily crunch the we wouldn't need to
189. 38:58like chat GPT is so good at at eating and digesting unstructured data that we could have just pasted all that [ __ ]
190. 39:06into a Word document that's we had all the metadata for these things in a Word document the problem was it made it
191. 39:13really hard to edit so we just threw it into an Excel sheet and now it's in there so um this would make a great video Yeah
192. 39:25it that feels like work I don't see here's the thing with ADHD once you build [ __ ] like making a video of it it's like H but I already
193. 39:37built it now I don't want to make a video of it I'm whiny I've got diverticulitis we're dug and Wendy Wier um I'd love it if I could put the
194. 39:50clip of that description into the salon you can do that as soon as I do this whatever do this means um as soon as I

205. 41:51can be really intimidating but here's here's the good news we now live in a a world where you don't need to know [ __ ] anymore you
206. 42:00don't need to be an anthropologist or a sociologist or a [ __ ] I don't know Survey Monkey PhD holder um you can just
207. 42:10go to chat GPT and ask it [ __ ] so here's what we're going to do okay I'm creating a digital twin based on the transcript of an interview
208. 42:30where the questions are structured and designed to capture as much about the person being interviewed as
209. 42:44possible I want to capture educational background professional background how the person solves problems the world
210. 43:01viiew things that might have inspired them how they react to adversity how they react to success and any other thing that you
211. 43:12think might be relevant period group the questions in categories to make them easier to manage and sort them in order that
212. 43:29make most intuitive sense for the interviewee to answer for example start with name and location Etc
213. 43:47period memory updated here's a structure okay personal information and background what's your full name where you currently located um
214. 43:57where' you grow up can you briefly describe your family background educational background professional background problem solving and
215. 44:03decision-making how do you typically approach uh solving problems whether professional or personal uh okay so let's let's let these keep
216. 44:23going okay these questions are fine but they're okay these questions are fine but they're a little predictable and
217. 44:31generic period I want you to act like a master survey writer comma and cultural anthropologists and I want you to
218. 44:43ask significantly more interesting and revealing questions for example include a question about a piece
219. 44:53of art that changed someone's life and questions with a similar creative approach period the idea here is that by answering these
220. 45:07questions we'll get as full a picture as possible of who this person is the other reason we did this like
221. 45:17this was we we wanted to be able to we wanted to be able to ask all of the people we made digital twins for the same set of questions we
222. 45:28wanted it to capture you know kind of the essence of who they were like not put as much emphasis on here's the [ __ ]
223. 45:35I did in my life put more emphasis on like who are they so let's see if your life were a novel what would the opening
224. 45:42scene look like that's good who or what shaped you to see the way the world before you were even aware of it can you
225. 45:49think of a moment in your childhood looking back that feels like a defining moment in who you became as an adult
226. 45:55like those are three really good questions right and so so this is this is how we did it and now there's way too many
227. 46:02right there's there's 12 sections of three questions each that's 36 questions so let's go okay these are much better
228. 46:10but right now you have 12 sections with three questions each why don't we reduce this to seven sections with three questions each

268. 53:00really made a decision whether we're going to you know launch this stuff and then two months later out came Firefly
269. 53:08and they launched it and so if you look at the Adobe Max videos what you're seeing is the fruits of the fact that
270. 53:16they they went in early aggressively with AI you're starting to see the results of you know things they're
271. 53:23adding to their tools that are pretty pretty miraculous there's one now that's called I forget what it's called but you
272. 53:30basically take like a you chop a person out of picture a and you put them into picture B where the lighting's
273. 53:36completely different and and you just say make it look the same and it just goes relights it Shadows it's crazy it's
274. 53:46Bonkers question how does your digital twin answer stuff for you that you have no knowledge about because it's
275. 53:55connected to the it's connected to gp4 so it just does now what you would what you would argue is well that's not really a digital twin

289. 56:24sequence called start your adventure and it's seven steps there's you start with welcome and there's a a welcome video
290. 56:32from Leah and I um welcoming everyone to the uh to the salon um and then you know we talk about play first mindfully create generously
291. 56:40lead then you introduce yourself then you learn our values then you can here's a link to all of our past meetings um
292. 56:49you can RSVP for the next event which by the way the the next um Salon presents was supposed to be on November 5th which is election
293. 56:59night so I just figure everyone's going to be worried about that rather than this so we're not doing it uh next uh
294. 57:06the first weekend or the first Tuesday of November is not happening um and then hang out in chat is is that thing and
295. 57:13then help us grow is basically our social media channel so so that seven-step onboarding process that's new
296. 57:19we all we then also really cleaned up what we're now calling Community Corner which is Salon announcements we added a
297. 57:25new section called call for collaborators so if you want to put together a project and you want collaborators you can start your own
298. 57:31little um threads in here uh to see if you can get people to to you know join you on a project you can ask for help uh
299. 57:38about the community and then you can give people shout outs then there's a news section and then there's a whole
300. 57:44new area called tools and play so all of the showand tell areas are inside the tools and play so every one of these
301. 57:52sections now has three areas there's the tools tab the tool talk tab where you can chat about this stuff and then
302. 58:00there's Show and Tell and so all of the showand Tells that were there before are still there but that's now within each
303. 58:07of these areas and so this allows people to play with different tools and you know we're updating we're updating these
304. 58:15sections based on you know what people are talking about and what they request be put in there uh but you can go in and
305. 58:21you can ask questions so this is a new really powerful area so that's that's where Show and Tell went so sorry about
306. 58:27that I didn't quite understand the question all right ah ah said Daniel it makes so much sense
307. 58:45now yeah I we were actually worried that that was going to be a a real problem and just people sort of you know
308. 58:52intuitively jumped in and kept kept adding things into the show and tell area so we basically took the showand tell
309. 58:58channels and just added the tool lists to it is is effectively what we did and then added added in a little chat
310. 59:04section um so anyway yeah but anyway this is the salon if you're if you're not a part of the salon this is a really
311. 59:11powerful Community um where you know our values are like who can you expect to be in here you can expect people in here to
312. 59:20be curious curiosity is one of our values playful like there's the the douche the douche quoti is very low in
313. 59:29this community like you have a lot of very generous people that are playful and curious and um empathy empathetic
314. 59:37bravery willing to take a risk willing to try new [ __ ] willing to feel like you know a complete Outsider and you know
315. 59:45um feel completely clueless but do it anyway and then the final one is generosity this is a this is a community
316. 59:52full of people that are generous in their willingness to share what they know you know we've got Peyton here

321. 1:00:35called uh everyday life hacks where you can you know figure out all sorts of cool [ __ ] you can do with AI to just
322. 1:00:42make your life better it's a it's a cool group so if you have not joined it you should go join it and become a

324. 1:01:09right everyone's down to cut everyone else down everyone's jealous of everyone the thing about this AI stuff is it's so profound and it's so
325. 1:01:23um it's moving so fast that it's essentially impossible to keep up with it so by being in a community like
326. 1:01:34this you surround yourself with people that have figured out some piece of the puzzle right there's there's a million
327. 1:01:41pieces of this puzzle we're trying to solve and any one of us can maybe handle three or four pieces right if we're really capable if
328. 1:01:51you're like I'm just getting started you might just have one corner of one piece and that's fine cuz I guarantee you that little corner
329. 1:01:58is some some Corner that someone else hadn't hadn't figured out yet and because it's a community that is
330. 1:02:05curious they're constantly learning new pieces and because they're playful there's not like The Angst and stress of
331. 1:02:13like we got to figure it out we got to we got to make things more efficient and and then because people are generous
332. 1:02:24they're willing to share what they're learning so you can come into this community and be and get up to speed with this AI
333. 1:02:34stuff dramatically faster than you could have otherwise and that's what this Channel's about I go live here five nights a week if you've

342. 1:04:21so so I was already getting pretty sold on generative AI I was doing a lot of stuff with stable diffusion and a thing
343. 1:04:28called dream Booth where I could upload pictures of myself and make like these crazy self-portraits so I started an art
344. 1:04:34project in like fall of 2022 um called Kyle Shannon dreams and it was just all these weird ass portraits of me and I'd write stories
345. 1:04:42for them and um because of that a good friend of mine I used to work with at agency.com said hey will you talk to my friend Leah she's a
346. 1:04:55photographer here in Boston and she wants to know like what the hell are you doing to make these images and I'm like
347. 1:05:01sure I'll sure I'll talk to her so Leah called me and we talked for a couple of times and you know I told her what I was
348. 1:05:08doing and she told me what she was doing and she just had this really cool attitude I'm like are you doing anything
349. 1:05:12in AI she's like no I've been a photographer for 20 years and I made the transition from film to digital and now
350. 1:05:19I'm kind of excited about figuring out this AI stuff and so I want to know what you're doing and and we just talked about
351. 1:05:26that idea of just being in this curious space about it and then right in the middle of that conversation chat GPT
352. 1:05:34drops and we had been kind of talking about I wonder if we put together like a little group to you know figure this [ __ ]
353. 1:05:43out and so chat GPT dropped and I [ __ ] lost my mind I was like holy [ __ ] this changes everything and and to
354. 1:05:53to give you a little bit of context back in in the mid 90s I had a very similar Epiphany about the worldwide web I'm
355. 1:06:00like holy [ __ ] this web thing changes everything but nobody knows about it yet and so I started one of the early
356. 1:06:07digital U magazines an art and culture magazine called Urban desires and I started an agency called agency.com
357. 1:06:14which was one of the first digital agencies and we built a lot of the websites for the Fortune 500 when nobody
358. 1:06:20really knew what websites were cuz it was super simple there were like six HTML tags like it it didn't take much
359. 1:06:27but it took curiosity and it took um a whole Community coming together so back in the 9s I started this group called
360. 1:06:33the worldwide web artist Consortium in New York City and we became like the you know Industry Group um for for East Coast web
361. 1:06:47development right so because what New York had that San Francisco didn't was the whole media world right they had all
362. 1:06:53publishing and things like that and so so my experience putting that group together was like I knew it was required
363. 1:07:03I knew that nobody was an expert I knew that everybody was trying to figure it out this is what I learned back then
364. 1:07:09everybody was trying to figure it out the only way you could actually learn stuff was like hang out with other
365. 1:07:16weirdos that were talking about the worldwide web so the minute chat GPT came out I was like holy [ __ ] this is one of
366. 1:07:24those and so so I just said to Lee I said I said we're starting the salon and we went and got the URL and we booked a
367. 1:07:32meeting and 7 days after chat GPT launched we had our first meeting here and I think probably within a week or
368. 1:07:41two of that I started this Tik Tok Channel um just as a way I you know it's funny I selfishly started this channel because I thought
369. 1:07:57if I if I if I put myself on the hook for explaining how this [ __ ] Works to other people I need to learn it well enough
370. 1:08:07that I know how to use it it was very selfish right um and then about three or four months after that I started doing these
371. 1:08:18lives so April of 2023 April 30th 2023 was the first live and I just made a commitment I was uh at the time I was doing a lot of sim racing
372. 1:08:32like I have a racing rig so I was racing people on virtual car tracks and I'd come home and I'd eat dinner and then
373. 1:08:38I'd race for two or three hours I was just wasting my life and I thought what if instead of racing for two or three hours a night I
374. 1:08:49went live for two two or three hours a night so I just made a commitment and so for $300 65 days except for the days I
375. 1:08:57was banned by Tik Tok for saying stupid [ __ ] um I went live and then once I hit a year I dropped it down to five days a
376. 1:09:08week so so that's why it's weekday now but that's the that's the origin story of it so um I think I think a lot of
377. 1:09:23people don't quite get the shift that that chat GPT caused so pre- chat GPT if you wanted to be an AI you essentially had to be an
378. 1:09:36engineer you had to understand what apis were you had to understand if you go into the the chat GPT playground what
379. 1:09:43different models were and there was documentation and you had to read that [ __ ] and if you really wanted to like do
380. 1:09:50your own AI you had to understand what weights were and what embeddings were and what [ __ ] math was and you're
381. 1:09:57like if you're like me you looked at it and you're like I want it to be easier and then chat PT came out and it was like
382. 1:10:10ah this is where I come in because one of the things that I've historically been really good at is when one of these moments happen I
383. 1:10:21don't know what it is it's just my sort of Natural Curiosity like that Tipping Point you know for AI it's November 30th
384. 1:10:312022 it is crystal clear for the worldwide web it was 1989 whenever Tim burner Lee come up came up with the HTTP
385. 1:10:39protocol and then when and what when it really was was like 1993 94 when the first web browser came out right so that
386. 1:10:49was that was kind of the inflection point for the worldwide web was was really 9394 with AI it's quite specific November
387. 1:10:5830th 2022 open AI launches chat GPT a fun fact that many people don't know is that the instructions for how to
388. 1:11:11build chat GPT were in the documentation of GPT 3's Dev site for a year and nobody built that [ __ ] and Sam wman said to the tech team
389. 1:11:26you have two weeks to build it Microsoft was about to announce a billion doll investment in open Ai and Sam Alman said
390. 1:11:33you have two weeks and so the team said oh go build that thing that's in the documentation yeah go build that
391. 1:11:41okay they built it they went out for drinks the night before it was going to launch and they they they assumed maybe
392. 1:11:49it would get shared a couple hundred times and you know 5,000 comments something like that five 5 days later they had a million
393. 1:11:57users 6 weeks later they had a 100 million users fastest adoption of technology in history with no marketing that's the
394. 1:12:15beginning and I I I did some research I mean no I didn't do research I asked chat GPT once how many developers are
395. 1:12:23there in the world like what's the percentage and it's incredibly low like being generous generous generous it's maybe 2%
396. 1:12:30it's probably more like 1.2% so prior to November 30th you know 1.2% of of the Earth's
397. 1:12:47population you know who could be who could be developers had access to Ai and after November 30th the other 98.8% of people got access to
398. 1:13:02it that's that's what's going to change everything I mean yes we need the technologist to build it to make it
399. 1:13:08efficient to do all that but now that it's in our hands you know we watched a video last night from Joy pie who's in here a 7 minute video
400. 1:13:20she did using generative audio generative music generative IM generative video clever editing just just like elbow grease of just her Brute
401. 1:13:33Force learning how to do it brilliant film it it was so good that I said she's definitely got a like a film making
402. 1:13:45background and so she was on last night and I said you have a filmmaking background right and she's like no I'm just a lady that works in
403. 1:13:54healthcare so that's why this exists because and and you know Sam Alman talks
404. 1:14:08about this a lot he says there's only so much we can do in the lab there's only so much testing and training we can do
405. 1:14:14in the lab because we're Engineers we're going to look at what these tools are through a very particular
406. 1:14:21lens and it's only when we put these tools out in the world to the other 98.8% and say what are you going to do with this
407. 1:14:31thing oh they're making a lot of children's books there's a lot of cookbooks being made huh interesting so that's what this is all
408. 1:14:45about what are we going to do with it and by we I mean the rest of us how are you going to use it and work
409. 1:14:54how how you going to use it at home how are you going to use it with your friends oh I'd never use it with my
410. 1:15:00friends they they they don't like AI well then they haven't [ __ ] played with it you know uh is Joy's video in the AI Salon
411. 1:15:12it is a is a Gen X Echo chamber for the most part that's just mean Pate pate's just under Gen X so he's a
412. 1:15:22little bitter he's got millennial age toward the Gen xers but it's true it is totally a Gen X Echo chamber he's not here's the thing

430. 1:18:44particular worldview is skewed by the fact that this is a bit of a Gen X Echo chamber but like a lot of the Gen xers in here

437. 1:19:49but now we've got drones so so we're actually not that far from flying cars like all of the tech on the Jetson all of it were within 3 years
438. 1:20:02of it's bizarre I kind of feel like a lot of the Star Trek technology we we got about half of the Star Trek technology out of
439. 1:20:12the way with the internet and the worldwide web and social media and small you know smartphones like like I feel like we got
440. 1:20:21you know half of it out of the way and and there's probably AI is probably going to do like you know the next
441. 1:20:3035% so there's still like the 15% of you know the particle Beamers and [ __ ] like that but like the room where you walk in
442. 1:20:38and it just turns into a different you know it turns into like a western town like we're not that far from
443. 1:20:46that it's [ __ ] [ __ ] crazy living in a post- Sci-Fi world my son was born after chat GPT was launched wow I can't imagine what his
444. 1:20:56gen will do or have I mean pay that's that like kids that are born right now you know if you think about kids that
445. 1:21:05were born when the internet was first firing up kids that were born that always had the internet always had it always
446. 1:21:15on so probably kids that were born kind of 2000 and up like my kids were born 1999 and like they've lived their whole lives
447. 1:21:27with the internet being connected and like your kid is going to grow up in a time where you can literally go I want
448. 1:21:36this and then it will be manifested right it'll be 3D printed or it will be you know a video game will emerge that's
449. 1:21:52Bonkers it's bonkers it's like we gen xers we had to watch the [ __ ] secret remember the secret you know think it and it will manifest
450. 1:22:02it it was all like this esoteric [ __ ] but now with generative AI you literally ask for it it's like there it
451. 1:22:11is we don't we don't need no thinking secret we we got gen AI what's amazing in Star Trek they never showed anything automated by AI

459. 1:23:46DVR so I'm watching whatever show and my mom comes into the room and she's like like okay Kyle time for bed and I'm like okay but if I turn
460. 1:23:58this off can I can I keep watching this in the morning and she said yes and I was like great and so I turned off the
461. 1:24:05TV and I went to bed and then I woke up in the morning like you do and I'm like awesome I'm going to go finish that show
462. 1:24:13and I turned on the TV and the [ __ ] news was on I said Mom where's my show and she's like what are you talking
463. 1:24:21about she didn't know what what I was asking I'm like you said if I turned it off it would be here when I came and it's not
