46. 11:45with music theory and [ __ ] like that maybe I'm a [Music] Storyteller but I found that cuz that when I played that that sounded right to my
47. 11:57ear and maybe he played that at some point in his life he's like oh that's wrong I kind of feel like that with AI sometimes
48. 12:09that I was I was watching so tonight in the AI Salon Leah gave like a 10-minute mid Journey Workshop she wanted everyone
49. 12:17to make mid Journey portraits for the new website we're building and I was watching her work and it like I knew all the stuff she did
50. 12:27like I knew all the the P the parts right but like the way she did mid Journey was kind of like where I was like wait what's [Music]
51. 12:42that and I think that's to say that no matter how little you think you know no matter how un expert you are don't
52. 12:57discount your your contribution to how we're doing this AI [ __ ] because you're going to play that chord for someone and to you that just
53. 13:11kind of made sense or it just sounded good and then you'll play that for someone and they'll be like oh my God
54. 13:19and that might be someone who's been prompting and prompt engineering and has videos out and [ __ ] like that so don't discount your
55. 13:31talent whether or not you think you have it ah thank you Source Camp I'm a musician and an artist [Music]
56. 14:18will the IP be mine when making something new with AI and other software well it depends on what you mean by will the IP be mine
57. 14:31um no one's going to stop you from using your AI [ __ ] now if you blatantly violate someone else's copyright or trademark they
58. 14:47will make Mickey Mouse and a pair of Nikes and try to put that out in the world you might get to see some disis
59. 14:53letter but I assume what you're talking about is can you copyright your [ __ ] and can you protect your IP well I don't know this

63. 15:53watched over 3 hours as we toiled and changed the lyrics and tried to find the right song and pushed and proded and tried to get
64. 16:04the AI Dr J you are an artist thank you very much I appreciate [Music] that the standard apparently is if you
65. 16:14can show significant human contribution then it's maybe copyrightable if you said make me a piece of art and it squits
66. 16:23out something that you're like I want to protect that they probably won't give it to you so what I would say is if that's important to
67. 16:30[Music] you then document the [ __ ] out of every [ __ ] second you put into it and be prepared to make a case for
68. 16:44how much Blood Sweat and Tears went into creating it and then you might have a chance but then I ask does it really [ __ ]
69. 16:54matter we're moving into a world of infinite infinitely personal personalized content generation everyone's going to be able
70. 17:06to say I want a Lego scene with a guy that looks like Kyle a dog that looks like his dog an AI learning lab in the
71. 17:13background and embrace the Jen on the [Music] t-shirt and they'll just it'll just make that so if you have a thing that's a
72. 17:25Lego scene like this and instead of AI learning lab it says a I education Hut and instead of embrace the Jank it says janky is as janky
73. 17:36does you're a derivative loser for stealing [Music] it but who's going to come after you like I I feel like copyright laws
74. 17:52were generated we we created when creating content was hard and the internet kind of [ __ ] that up with digital
75. 18:03distribution and then AI completely [ __ ] it up Firefly oh I'm here hello all hello Firefly what's happening so I don't know I mean I think
76. 18:17people in general are in love with their IP like I've got two US patents and eight international patents on My Story vine software company
77. 18:31technology I'm like proud of that is it valuable to us no cuz we don't have the money to go after anyone
78. 18:40if if someone infringed on it now is that potentially valuable to someone who buys the company yeah potentially very valuable
79. 19:05so I think you got to really ask yourself like what business do you want to be in do you want to be in patent trolling
80. 19:14business or if you've produced a really cool character and then you just want to execute it with AI then do all your
81. 19:21copyright protection with you know written things and I don't know [Music] I think the whole copyright and
82. 19:32intellectual property world needs to be upended and it's going to be it's just going to be an ugly 20 years getting [Laughter]
83. 19:44there I registered for a webinar with Amazon AWS all about Ai and business should be interesting oh that's cool yeah yeah it should be cool
84. 20:00[Music] AWS is always such a weird business to me I get why they did it I get why it's so popular but just feels like a weird distraction
85. 20:15from their business the value is that I was the one that created something new and have something that can help
86. 20:30people well there's all sorts of ways to protect that n sh shoken um skoken um I mean you know use chat GPT to act as an
87. 20:40intellectual property lawyer and and really educate the [ __ ] out of you on it if you're not educated like understand
88. 20:46the difference between Patent Trademark copyright um how you register them how you actually protect them
89. 21:02understand things like you know Trade Secrets like like there's all sorts of ways to protect your [Music] interests [Music]
90. 21:17um if you want to copyright something that was primarily produced with AI though I would get your [ __ ] together with how how much
91. 21:29time and effort you put into it essentially make the argument that that that the AI was an insignificant
92. 21:36piece of the labor of creating it then you might have a shot I'm pretty familiar they're very pricey but it's
93. 21:43new to me yeah it's that that's the other problem is it's it it costs a lot of money to protect that listen if you
94. 21:48have something like a comic book character and you like you know you think you have the next Simpsons or the
95. 21:53next South Park then do what you can to protect the [ __ ] out of it but within budgets like here's what I would say don't don't
96. 22:09avoid putting work in the [Music] world because you don't have your [ __ ] together you don't have enough money to
97. 22:18get just the perfect IP get whatever protections you can in place educate the [ __ ] out of yourself use cat GPT as an
98. 22:26assistant use Claude as an assistant you both of them right now are really good get as much protected as you can
99. 22:33and put your [ __ ] work in the world play first mindfully create generously lead get that [ __ ] in the
100. 22:41world put out YouTube videos of here's how I'm making this stuff put out you know Amazon Kindle books of whatever
101. 22:51process or cartoons whatever it is get it in the world because the more evidence you have of producing it the better chance you'll
102. 23:04have of protecting it and then you also will build an audience along the way I made a cute Kyle doll in a regular so no oh

106. 23:50he doesn't mean to he catches them and then they're kind of in shock and he he carries him out with his tail wagging
107. 23:57and he drops him in the yard and then he paw at him a little bit and then when he gets him calmed down a little bit he
108. 24:03like smacks him in the head enough to slow him down and then he rolls gets on his back and just rolls on him and he

113. 25:28hesitant to turn to AI for help due to my idea being taken thoughts don't don't be there's too much well it
114. 25:39I it depends if it's just the idea here's the thing Becky everyone's afraid their idea is going to be stolen the harsh [ __ ] cold
115. 25:52reality is that you can have an idea and not EX it we had we had investors at one point that we've since parted
116. 26:07ways but they basically funded a competitor they took our IP they funded someone building essentially exactly what we
117. 26:19built and that company was out of business in two years they had all the same technology why' they fail cuz execution is really
118. 26:31[ __ ] hard and then the other thing is I kind of feel like there's this perception that if you put something on
119. 26:37chat GPT there's like people waiting there to catch it like oh good idea let me go execute that no it's it's you can
120. 26:46you know first of all you can turn off you know use my training data especially if you have a teams account in chat GPT
121. 26:54um but even if you if you really want to protect it turn off go to your setting settings and turn off train train on my
122. 27:00data um you'll lose your prompt history so just know that so so export your data before you do that and turn off train my
123. 27:08data and then just [ __ ] use it now if you want to get really paranoid get something like um GPT for all where you install a local large
124. 27:21language model like on your Mac I think you just got a new Mac um and you can run something like llama their 13 billion parameter model
125. 27:31you can probably run that locally on your Mac and it'll run just fine um but I like I wouldn't be that paranoid if you're taking you know
126. 27:46proprietary spreadsheets of a big Corporation and you're putting that out there you know then you're a little more
127. 27:53liable but if it's just your idea [ __ ] go to town on it go to town go to town go to [Music] town I used Google ideas in incognito
128. 28:08mode oh I used to Google ideas in incognito mode yeah I I mean yeah ideas are easy executions hard
129. 28:30our our our senior adviser this guy named Kevin Clark he's a guy I work with at a Content Evolution he talks about especially when
130. 28:38you when you have a new idea he goes the first three or four or five people that enter the market in competition with you are actually
131. 28:50validating your idea so if you're in an early phase of an industry or if you have a unique idea other people having that idea is
132. 29:06not necessarily a bad thing cuz people won't do it the same way you do it there are so many little variations of
133. 29:12automated video storytelling platforms out there almost no one does what Story vine [Music] does all little variations of it
134. 29:27[Music] and it's funny when I had that idea I had the idea for Story vine in 2006 and I started a company and it was
135. 29:37the wrong company it wasn't automated it was manual it was handbuilt video and when I started storyvine in
136. 29:502012 I thought I was behind the market and I thought there were like thousands of competitors rushing toward the market
137. 29:58and what I realized is that I was about a decade early and that sounds sexy and all like from an inventor standpoint but it's pretty [ __ ]
138. 30:09painful like a decade of my life was spent working on this thing that it's time hadn't really come it's like ah
139. 30:16it'll come next year it'll come next year it'll come next [Music] [Applause] year it's funny Co Co in a lot of ways
140. 30:28kind of woke up the market to what we [Music] do it's crazy where can I learn more about storyvine uh just go to story
141. 30:37vine.com um you can download the storyvine app and play with it it's it's B2B software so it it kind of looks on
142. 30:45the surface like it could be B to C software but we do a lot of work in healthcare and Pharma so if fizer wants their patients
143. 30:54of a certain drug to talk about their diagnosis journey we'll create a template for the patient to tell that
144. 31:00story and then our app serves as a virtual director so if you download the Story by an app you get to play with
145. 31:06that virtual director and you get emailed back a fully edited video of yourself you know telling whatever the story [Music]

149. 31:40like oh AI is overhyped it's it's overhyped it's uh it's just all [ __ ] everyone's so excited about it no they're not
150. 31:4947% 47% of people haven't even heard of CET GPT 47 [ __ ] percent in America the land of Silicon Valley 47% haven't even heard of CET gbt
151. 32:06and we're in here like oh my God what if we do if we can't keep up we could take a year off and we'd be fine we'd still be ahead by a
152. 32:19[Music] lot what AI tool have you mostly integrated into your business um I've got a A
153. 32:33Creative ideation tool well it's not is nidation tool it's kind of like a first draft writer for our prompting questions
154. 32:42for our our our Story vine templates that thing saves us two or three days on average per client for for kickoff
155. 32:52meetings um that was done with zapier and open AI um the tools that I built into Story vine to do content generation is based on open
156. 33:04AI our translation tools based on hen our Persona tool is based on did 11 labs open AI so it's a lot of open AI
157. 33:22[Music] the the other thing that I realized about the tool that I I built into Story vine I'll show it to you I'll
158. 33:37show it to you here in a [Music] second is that what it's doing technically is not different than a lot
159. 33:45of the other tools that are out there that are generating content but what I realized and this again gets back to the execution Becky
160. 33:54is the way we're executing it the way we're incorporating it into our core value proposition and the features that
161. 34:01we're building into it that are specific to Pharma it's going to it there's not going to be a lot of people that do that
162. 34:10particular flavor of the thing we've built and so so part of the advantage of just building is
163. 34:25is you get to put stuff in the marketplace and see if people are willing to pay for it the big AI tool
164. 34:32that we built we got one of our clients to fund most of it we said what what features do you want this thing to have and they're like
165. 34:40well we don't know so we gave them a list of features we're like well we think it should do this they're like
166. 34:47okay they're like well and then we should build it they're like okay and they gave us money to go build it and we
167. 34:53went and built it and we put in the contract that they don't own it cuz we were building it anyway they're just accelerating the feature
168. 35:03set that's how we've built every piece of technology with Story vine by the way sell it first build it [Music] second it's very non-vc of
169. 35:15us I find I find Venture Capital [Music] [Laughter] [Music] exhausting here let me show you this
170. 35:32thing this is not a thing that if you can visualize it you can do it absolutely absolutely this is not

174. 36:49and so let me give you some context for it story Vine's 12-year-old company for 12 years what the product's
175. 36:58been we've never really pivoted the product like the product has always worked and been what we wanted to
176. 37:04build it's a virtual director in an app that guides someone step by step through telling a specific story so if it's a
177. 37:11patient diagnosis Journey the app asks them you know what's your name and when were you diagnosed how did it feel when
178. 37:18you heard the news you know what's how have you been treating it what are your hopes and dreams for the future whatever
179. 37:23that story arc is our app guides them through answering a series of prompts that then goes up to the cloud gets
180. 37:31stitched together into a fully edited video in about 5 minutes and then you've got this video and you can do anything you want with it
181. 37:38you can share it on social you can put it on a website you built you can put it on YouTube doesn't matter and
182. 37:44so the other piece of this is we can get that through the Regulatory and compliance approval process so we can
183. 37:51actually deliver for Pharma companies truly authentic user generated content that we can get through regulatory
184. 37:59that's that in of itself is a is a is a miracle but the value of that video is rarely really
185. 38:13exploited because we're capturing it in this modular way you could use the little piece parts of it you could remix
186. 38:19them you could take the transcripts of these videos and turn them into other content but very few people actually do that
187. 38:28and so what we said is could we use AI to presume that that authentic story that you took the time to capture and
188. 38:36someone took time out of their life to share on behalf of your company could we leverage the [ __ ] out
189. 38:43of that and that's what the authenticity engine is so you upload a video to this thing
190. 38:58and it crashes Ah that's pretty funny I wonder I had an issue I had to restart my machine at work um I think there was a new um OSX
191. 39:17update and I think all my permissions are [ __ ] let me try one more time here uh uh uh uh yeah that's that's no
192. 39:32bueno huh try one more time I think this the same same problem I had at

199. 41:03Story vine um the very first technology we built we built an app that captured three three you asked three
200. 41:14questions and then it was Tethered to a specific Macintosh my my Mac laptop so we would film someone in at the
201. 41:22beginning of a meeting and then it would send those three Clips to the hard drive of the laptop and it would fire up Final
202. 41:31Cut Pro and run a series of macros and my co-founder Mo'Nique I would be up pitching and hand waving and doing all the
203. 41:38[ __ ] and she would be watching Final Cut Pro edit this video and and then the problem was Apple would update Final Cut Pro and it would
204. 41:49[ __ ] up our macros and so sometimes she'd be like it it didn't work it didn't work and then at one point it
205. 41:55made a video where it played like 2third of the way through and she somehow communicated to me like it stops in
206. 42:03section three so um I got to the point in my presentation and I played the video and then right before it crashed
207. 42:10and [ __ ] the bed I just stopped the video and said Tada I got I actually got a standing ovation uh doing one of those demos once
208. 42:19which was pretty funny um because it was pretty [ __ ] magical that's why we call it auto magical or Auto Magic
209. 42:38Mo'Nique yes Monique she is the one she has been with me from day one Kyle what Story vine mistake have you learned most from um
210. 42:59to not assume it's going to be as easy to sell as you think it is it's going to be harder to sell
211. 43:19um I don't know you know it's funny like I don't I I don't feel like I have any major regrets like we when when we first raised money
212. 43:34we we built a bunch of technology and went out and um hang on an update is ready to
213. 43:49install okay there's that we went out and raised a bunch of money and then I was like oh we can sell it to everyone we can sell it to
214. 43:57um air conditioner repair guys and IBM and Pharma companies and this and that I was trying to sell it to everyone and we like we learned we
215. 44:06learned stupid [ __ ] that that's ultimately really important in business like we learned that the 500 bucks we
216. 44:14charged the air conditioner guy meant more to him and was harder to collect than the $80,000 that a major Pharma gave us to
217. 44:24make four little videos and so we we narrowed our Focus to healthcare and Pharma cuz we're like we would have to sell a [ __ ] ton of $500
218. 44:36subscriptions to equal that one Pharma thing and we had decent connections you know Monique and I had both worked on um
219. 44:45a lot of Fortune 500 work and we have pretty deep rolodexes so um that was it I I don't know that there's anything major I would
220. 44:54change I think I think probably I maybe would have taken another round of investment to really build out a kickass
221. 45:10sales team like a bigger broader sales team cuz that was always the area that that we struggled all right so let's go

237. 49:09generates a transcript of the video so here's the time code of when the person says what they said then it starts this
238. 49:15cascading series of events it creates a title of the video it creates a description of the video it pulls out
239. 49:21key messages of the video like contact details are provided the location is convenient with easy access to
240. 49:29restaurant bars and entertainment like the Pepsi Center it's got a huge balcony amenities such as Wi-Fi so it pulls out
241. 49:36key messages and then it we actually chapiz the video we re chapiz it sort of break it into its narrative components
242. 49:44So within I don't know 30 seconds of uploading a video you've got this whole world of content where you deeply
243. 49:51understand the story and then you flip over the content generation Tab and it generates an interview style blog post
244. 49:59it generates Instagram posts it generates hashtags um and then it generates pull quotes of interesting things that were
245. 50:06said in the video so if I turn this back on I can say click on that tour with me today I really hope that you enjoyed
246. 50:15verb and all of our so it just jumps you right to the little pull quote you know so thank you so much for taking time with me today and you
247. 50:25know so the most um unique feature about this apartment is this huge balcony that you so within a minute of uploading a
248. 50:34video boom you have this whole world of content around it so anyway all right all right what are we going to do

250. 50:56but something's up with their iCloud something or other something something is something is not normal I finally got it to work at work
