36. 7:19life so things in here are going to get much more extraordinary I'm about a third of the way through the thing I
37. 7:24think it goes through February so by February you're going to be looking at Kyle extraordinary I'm at a movie theater listening to your
38. 7:40show well that's listen there's Spielberg and then there's the AI learning lab you got to you got to you
39. 7:48got to balance your life you can't it can't just all be Blockbusters right you need you need different levels of
40. 7:55entertainment and this is a level of entertainment I I will let you all categorize where this sits although some people said this
41. 8:06is better than TV which I'm like what the [ __ ] is TV doing which by the way I'm apparently allowed to swear now they they age
42. 8:15restricted my channel the other night major laser um Kyle do you think the AI robots will spare me if I'm kind to chat
43. 8:24GPT now I would say I would say couple of things Ethan Ethan mullik posted a study about this apparently sort of just
44. 8:35traditional psychology works on these things being nice to them Works um I met a great guy today from from he works at Google and Boulder um
45. 8:47Todd I forget his last name but he works in the AI group um really really really smart guy and we we were talking about
46. 8:53all this stuff about um about being being nice to the robot and he was talking about there's that thing
47. 9:03um there's a there's a prompt you can give chat GPT take a deep breath and then do whatever your prompt is and it it
48. 9:12improves the results like this is like they've done a study and take a deep breath was the sort of number one thing
49. 9:19you could say to chat GPT to improve the prompting we were talking about like what what is it about that like why why
50. 9:26would that work and the only thing I could come up with was if you think about who who would who would write down
51. 9:35take a deep breath well it's probably like self-help people like you know take a deep breath and then consider your
52. 9:42life and have a moment and you know whatever it might be so maybe when you say take a deep breath it puts chaep in
53. 9:50some sort of semantic region of the vector space where there's some instructions there's there's some instructions about how to
54. 9:59considerably lead your life that chat GPT turns that into I don't know some sort of better way of giving answers I
55. 10:07don't [ __ ] know it's just all weird man have you tried Pinocchio makes it easy to install AI locally I tried it
56. 10:15uh maybe two months ago someone mentioned it and I and I kind of installed it um I did I haven't played with it a lot
57. 10:24so I know it's there I have I have installed successfully installed um GPT for all and then I just saw that there's a
58. 10:34lot of noise right now about the about the mistol um uh models that are out there people are installing them on
59. 10:41their phones things like that take a deep breath help helps with spelling yeah I don't know it's very strange this this AI stuff's weird so
60. 10:51but we're we're leaning in on it people we're going with it we are flipping going with it all right so how this works um if you're new to
61. 11:05AI um where I would suggest you go right off the bat is hang on what did I just do did I just delete something I think I did no I didn't
62. 11:24weird um what I would suggest you do if you are brand brand new to this AI stuff is go get the to a Nary
63. 11:41go get the to chat GPT chat. open.com so if you're brand new to to ai go there if you've never if you've never been to Chad GPT and you're
64. 11:56like oh I'll get to it tomorrow I'm not very technical Kyle I don't know if you know this but it's it's very late on a Friday night I don't
65. 12:04feel like learning something at the AI learning lab okay that's fine you can say that but go there anyway just go there right
66. 12:13now and ask it to write you a poem or ask it to write you a a recipe uh for chicken picata where you substitute the
67. 12:21chicken with pork I don't know doesn't matter go ask it to create a project plan for you for your whatever business you're thinking of
68. 12:30starting so you can quit your day job just go there right now and start playing and then it is my request it is
69. 12:37my sincere hope for you as a human being that you play with it long enough that you have your first Kevin mallister moment that moment
70. 12:51and at that point then you've taken the red pill and you can't come back from it but if you just sit there and think like
71. 12:58oh it's just like Google it's whatever it's it's cute it's [Laughter] cute uh then you know then it's not as
72. 13:06much fun and you're not going to you can make money with everybody wants that everybody wants a gold button you think I just
73. 13:15bought this off Amazon no this is hard-earned how did I get this cat GPT I made money with it and then and
74. 13:23then bought this is solid gold it's not a Chinese piece of plastic I got this from Parker from Gold Rush he smelted this for
75. 13:33me and then Mark rooper the the the guy that does the the the fart bomb things he he made the electronics in this for me it's not from
76. 13:44Amazon I couldn't be this successful just buying crap from Amazon no so go there and do that your life will get
77. 13:52better you'll get a gold button you you will have the capacity to get your own solid gold you can make money with chat gbt button

83. 14:45better but the other one is these models right now with the exception of Pi which is starting to do this um they don't
84. 14:53really have memory across chats um but I would imagine fairly early in 2024 chat C GPT will have memory and the other
85. 15:01ones will start to have memory where it will start to remember who you are and why not why not be light

87. 15:20unbelievable I tried to give him a sir he went straight to Lord we're now we're nighting people here at the

101. 17:33first log into the site there's this area called spaces and what spaces are is these are um areas that are that are that you can play
102. 17:44with um so so someone is actually hosting them or hugging face is actually hosting them and they and they kind of

105. 18:22this is the problem the the problem with the open- source Community it's got nothing to do with the open source
106. 18:28community it's got to do with me um it is essentially impossible to keep up with the commercial application
107. 18:37development the open- source application development and and model development is like times 100 like there's so much to
108. 18:47keep up with so if you don't keep up with it like I don't know what all the numbers are and what all the versions

210. 38:28the things people get really uh intimidated by this AI stuff because they think oh I've got to be a mathematician or an engineer and I I got
211. 38:37to be super mad genius um post November 30th 2022 which was the launch of chat GPT the rules have changed that was true before then that
212. 38:51date marks an inflection point after which the rest of us gain access to the power of machine learning and Ai and that's
213. 39:03the phase we're in now and we're right at the very beginning we're a year into this and it's um even though Ai and
214. 39:09machine learning has been around for decades which people are are want to point out in here well you know this has
215. 39:15been around since the the late 90s I know and if you didn't have a degree from MIT or Stamford you were at a disadvantage
216. 39:25and that's not true anymore and so what this group is is a group of people just trying to figure this [ __ ]
217. 39:30out and there are people in here that are brand new there are PE there are people in there that have been working
218. 39:36in this stuff for 30 years and everyone in between the only price of oh that's good that's good cuno so what what Cuna
219. 39:42said is is is true so so here's what I'm going to tell you it's free except for this there's three things I want you to

239. 42:55that and these things become come um accessible and there's more of them and the cost come comes down I think we're
240. 43:03going to start to see a shift to you know sharing all sorts of different things gpts and videos and you know text
241. 43:11outputs and movies and music and it's it's going to get it's going to get pretty exciting so I think that's super

363. 1:02:17demos that I just showed of storyvine where we're taking our decade plus experience in authentic narrative and
364. 1:02:26we're saying hey how can we tell authentic stories using these new tools even though they're sort of uncanny valley and
365. 1:02:34weird how can we push the state-of-the-art as it is today and do something interesting with it I don't
366. 1:02:40know if you all remember this um if if you're there's a lot of there's a lot of gen xers on this I don't know if you
367. 1:02:46remember when the game missed came out M Myst it was kind of a a puzzle game but it was very immersive it had a lot of
368. 1:02:55sound in it had beautifully rendered images and it had these little moments of video like these little animations of
369. 1:03:02like a book opening in a in a bigger scene there'd be like a pedestal with a book on it and it would Shimmer and the pages would open and
370. 1:03:12and what what I thought was brilliant about that book actually we interviewed Randon Robin Miller in urban desires my my
371. 1:03:20digital magazine that I started back in the '90s we interviewed them cuz I was totally smitten with that game and and
372. 1:03:28why because what they did in that game at at the time in the mid90s a lot of video games were trying to push the envelope on you know
373. 1:03:39immersive 3D realtime rendering which back then the technology really sucked but they were all trying to push the
374. 1:03:46envelope with what you could do with real-time rendering and what Rand and Robin Miller did is they said well if
375. 1:03:52QuickTime can only play in a window this big and then we can render a a bigger picture what they did was they said well
376. 1:04:00why don't we just render high quality images and we'll we'll sort of stitch them together as as like single frames
377. 1:04:09and then we'll use sound design to make it seem like things are alive so it was just a still image and then they would
378. 1:04:15occasionally use a little QuickTime video nicely integrated into the thing and it was just it was like this amazing experience
379. 1:04:25and and and it was just they didn't they they took where the technology was of the day and they said how can we
380. 1:04:33do something excellent within this and I think that that's you know get smart that's what it was don't get smart that was a great

493. 1:24:22knew it was going to take me 4 hours to accomplish something and I spent 4 hours trying to get AI to accomplish that thing and
494. 1:24:32failed and then still had to spend another 4 hours doing it the old way I think that's 4 hours well spent because I've learned where the
495. 1:24:43boundaries are and I tried to solve that problem and what what is more likely the case is that the 4 hours I spend trying to do it with AI
496. 1:24:53I'll probably actually solve it in an hour and I didn't have to take that 4 hours in in most cases there's there's things that I've
497. 1:25:03done where I'm like I just I just keep hitting the wall I just I can get it to 80% I can get it to 80% I can't get it
498. 1:25:08above that and at some point it's just like it it would have been faster to do it the old-fashioned way but I'm so
499. 1:25:17glad I tried to do it with AI so um yes yes and still do it I only use do um I think
500. 1:25:32steo that will likely start to shift as as some of these like like as mid Journey as the web version of mid
501. 1:25:40Journey gets there and I like I have a feeling I have a feeling some shit's coming from from the other players like
502. 1:25:49why we haven't seen any multimodal stuff from anthropic with with Claude is really interesting to me I think Pi we

516. 1:28:06for artificial general intelligence and and the definition from open AI so so open ai's mission is to achieve AGI
517. 1:28:16their definition of it is that how do I I think I've got it memorized we can go find it um autonomous systems that are better
518. 1:28:26than humans at most valuable tasks or most is it valuable most basically things you get paid for
519. 1:28:41that AGI is the point at which Chachi PT is better than most humans at things you get paid for at at our jobs and one of the rumors of
520. 1:28:57why Sam mman was fired is that they effectively achieved it um the the rumor is the rumor is they've got this thing called qar that's
521. 1:29:09no longer a rumor there there was a leak there was a leaked letter that Sam Alman characterized as an unfortunate leak
522. 1:29:18there was a letter written to the board from some open AI employees about qar this technology that they that ilas SSG
523. 1:29:26I think um was working on where they did some some grade grade school level math problems that open a that that whatever
524. 1:29:36version of what whatever this thing was got 100% correct not 80 not 90 not 97 100% which means that it's reasoning um
525. 1:29:49and the the the other thing in that sentence that I said autonomous systems that are better than humans at most I think it's valuable tasks
526. 1:30:02valuable work something like that autonomous systems mean so the so the current chat GPT is not autonomous you go in and you prompt it and
527. 1:30:13it it gives you an answer and then if you don't like it you go I don't like that answer and it gives you another but
528. 1:30:18if you play with it a little bit there's some hints of autonomous in in there so if you do anything with code
529. 1:30:25interpreter if you upload a CSV file you upload you upload a spreadsheet to chat GPT and you say please analyze this data
530. 1:30:35and tell me what's interesting about it and then visualize it for me you sit back and it starts prompting
531. 1:30:43itself and if you click on the little boxes where it says analyzing there's a little pull down menu in fact we can go
532. 1:30:50we can go do it watch system are going to kind of do so we're going to have these agents we're going to have these tools that
533. 1:30:59know who we are know what we want know our data have access to our data have access to things and they're going to go
534. 1:31:05do stuff for us but let me show you a little bit of this in action because it's it's very subtle right now
535. 1:31:17but but there's hints of what's coming and it's when you think about what's actually happening here it's it's kind
536. 1:31:23of mind-blowing so I'm going to go I'm going to switch from GPT 3.5 to GPT 4 and when I I'm in GPT 4 I get this

547. 1:33:33box well what's that that's python so what code interpreter does what this tool does inside chat GPT is it spins up what's called a
548. 1:33:47container and the container is like a little mini computer with its own little mini operating system and it's it's been
549. 1:33:53given access to python libraries so it knows python so when you ask it to do something it says hey what what python
550. 1:34:04do I need to write like what's the what's the thing we're trying to solve here based on that I'm going to use
551. 1:34:09these libraries in Python I'm then going to write the python code I'm then going to look at the data so it says the data
552. 1:34:15set contains information about YouTube videos related to Ai and ml topics here's the stuff to identify interesting Trends we can
553. 1:34:24analyze aspects such as this this and that then it sort of failed let's conduct an analysis to uncover some
554. 1:34:30Trends it failed it seems there was an issue with plotting Trends over time likely due to the format of the Year
555. 1:34:35month column I'll adjust the approach to ensure the data is in compatible format I'll adjust the approach so it
556. 1:34:46failed it wrote this python code and failed because the data was [ __ ] up and then and look now it wrote python code
557. 1:34:55to plot uh let's see monthly video Trends monthly likes Trend monthly comments Trend it's having trouble with this file
558. 1:35:07for whatever reason but it's still trying so this is autonomous behavior and so it it finally it it it errored
559. 1:35:15out five times it finally got it right top five five videos by views top five videos by likes so it analyzed
560. 1:35:26this data it's still analyzing this data and within that it visualized this like this is autonomous Behavior so so
561. 1:35:36agents where we move very quickly likely in the first six months of the year is that we're going to start to see if if
562. 1:35:45you think about the gpts that we're all building right now they're all built on top of this nonautonomous or
563. 1:35:51semi-autonomous thing if you use you know code interpreter this very simple version of GPT when open AI starts creating libraries of apis so
564. 1:36:05apis stand for application programming interface so so when the ability to connect chat GPT say to Google Maps or
565. 1:36:14Google search or um some database or the New York Times you know uh archives or or Getty Images or travel sites or banking sites
566. 1:36:28or PayPal right all it's going to it's going to start to be connected to all sorts of services and you're going to basically
567. 1:36:36opt it in to your accounts on all those different services and then at some point you're just going to say hey chat GPT I need
568. 1:36:45this accomplished and it will go off and start spinning up its own agents on your behalf okay I need an agent to go out and
569. 1:36:54search Google for cool places the Shannon might like to vacation that they haven't been before and doesn't break
570. 1:37:00the bank and there's no political turmoil okay let me go read the news let me go okay here's the four places that
571. 1:37:08might be good now let me compare those four places and right and so there's going to be all these agents that it will
572. 1:37:14create you're going to give it a goal it's going to generate these Dynamic agents that are going to go operate on your behalf
573. 1:37:24and then it'll come back to you and say okay here's what I've done your Trip's booked here's your itinerary for each day you're like
574. 1:37:34oh I didn't want to go to Tijana and and and CH like all right boss I got it off let me go get you another one it'll go unbook all that
575. 1:37:48rebook you somewhere else here you go boss Morin Mindy oh my God nanu nanu Robin Williams was my [ __ ] hero he was [ __ ]
576. 1:38:05astounding astounding is Agi what used to be called The Singularity no I think it's slightly different but it I forget what the
577. 1:38:16singularity is Ray curtz is the one that defined the singularity he his prediction is 2029 we hit the singularity I forget I forget the
578. 1:38:25definition of it I should know that but I don't I don't remember it but AGI is a step towards it um ASI artificial super
579. 1:38:33intelligence is the singularity I'm pretty sure that's where that's where these computers are superior to all
580. 1:38:41humans like all humans combined or something like that um and and that feels like we're probably in the 5-year neighborhood hood
581. 1:38:51for for that but but this stuff's going to start accelerating one of the one of the things if you go watch David
582. 1:38:56Shapiro's videos um one of the things that you'll see is um there there's some of the rumored stuff that was going on at open AI was
583. 1:39:10the engineers actually stopped before they allowed whatever this new system was to start improving itself they they stopped before it
584. 1:39:21started doing that cuz what's going to happen is these things are going to get really good and then they're going to
585. 1:39:26allow the systems to train themselves and they're they're going to get better and better like not gradually but like
586. 1:39:34shink David Shapiro talks a lot about the the with machine learning and AI it's like it's like not good not good
587. 1:39:43not good not good not good good excellent like like it just it just all of a sudden figures [ __ ] out and then
588. 1:39:51goes from like bad to to like off the charts good and so when these things start improving themselves that curve
589. 1:39:59gets even steeper it basically just becomes a vertical line like it's kind of like overnight these things get insanely [Music]
590. 1:40:12powerful it's crazy isn't it it's crazy it's crazy I tell you you can make money with

592. 1:40:40average this this is good as the average person as AIS oh oh AGI is yeah that's right AGI is when the computers are as good as
593. 1:40:52the average human ASI is when it's better than all humans yeah debt collectors do things like negotiate debts and protect people's
594. 1:41:02ability to pay that's going to get all automated high value work nanu nanu to you and the turtles so cool reasoning bang math are
595. 1:41:15both important but qar trains reasoning yeah yeah but you you need reasoning you need reasoning to do math
596. 1:41:23right so it's like if you hit the wall you need to be able to navigate around that that's what Q qar is doing qar is a
597. 1:41:31is a it's it seems like it's a merging between Q learning and AAR which is a game mechanics training thing they've kind of merged those two
598. 1:41:40together it's really cool what it does so so basically what qar does as far as I understand it you have a state that
599. 1:41:47you're in so you want to accomplish something and then in that that state you can take these four actions and then based on whatever the
600. 1:41:55probabilities are you decide to take action two and then what qar does is says okay you took action two and now you're in a
601. 1:42:03new state based on that new state let's grade how well you did how you know when you took action two did it did did was
602. 1:42:13it a positive thing or was it a negative thing and if it was a positive thing it's like oh you're going in the right
603. 1:42:19direction and then now you have a new set of actions you can take in state two and that leads you to state three and
604. 1:42:24then it says how did you do good or bad so it's keeping this running tally if you know anything about card counting in
605. 1:42:30blackjack qar is kind of like a card counter so the you know the card counting system where if if you see 10
606. 1:42:38or face cards it's plus one if you see whatever it is sixes or lowers sevens are lowers it's it's minus one and then
607. 1:42:46the [ __ ] in The Middle's neutral and then you're just keeping a running tally is is the number going going positive or
608. 1:42:51going negative and depending on if if it hits a certain Delta positive or negative that's when you bet
609. 1:43:00heavier well that's essentially what qar is right so it's like here's the thing it's going to take an action and it's
610. 1:43:08just keeping this running tally of is it you know are are we in in good territory or bad territory and if it's in bad
611. 1:43:15territory then it starts to steer in a different direction that's reasoning That's like [ __ ] what we do it's what we do

613. 1:43:33it it's I what's amazing about some of these models is like mathematically like the mathematical formulas are just
