10. 2:48the AI Practice Lab, that's what I'm gonna call it tonight. I had a relatively large revelation today, and you might be
11. 3:01saying, "But Kyle, you seem to be having one of those every day lately." I think that's how it goes when you start shedding your
12. 3:10legacy way of being, as Townsend Wardlaw would say. I would probably make an Andy smile right now. (Guitar Strumming)
13. 3:30So next Tuesday, I leave for Washington, D.C. And the AI Salon is hosting, I don't know, 13 or 19
14. 3:40startups, I forget how many, flying to Washington, D.C. I'm going there with Daisy Thomas. We're doing roundtables at the Capitol.
15. 3:51We're doing sessions in the Congressional offices and the Senate offices. Yeah, I know she is.
16. 4:01I won't keep you back there too long, Andy, I promise. (Laughter) This is the third time that we've done this.
17. 4:15And... Wow, will you be on C-SPAN? I don't think so. These are more like staffer meetings. These are like meetings in the
18. 4:25Congressional offices rather than on the floor. And same in the White House, it'll be with White House staff.
19. 4:36But one of the things that's been consistent for the past two times I've done this is that I don't talk about it.
20. 4:50I'll do like a post to the AI Salon community, maybe a post to LinkedIn once. And then I go and maybe I'll take a
21. 4:59picture or two and then I don't post them. I don't do anything with them. And I was talking to Andy today
22. 5:08about, I don't know, whatever the fuck. Oh, just selling a product that we're coming up with.
23. 5:19And I was talking about the product and what it basically came down to, like, who are you going to reach out to?
24. 5:28And the minute she said that, like, I froze. And like, it hit me like a ton of bricks that for, I think, all of my life,
25. 5:43that despite dramatic evidence to the contrary, like dramatic evidence to the contrary, in my head is this
26. 5:55little voice that says, they don't want to hear from you. And so every fucking email, like if it's an outreach email,
27. 6:03if it's a sales email, if it's a, hey, look, I'm doing this cool thing in DC, this little fucking voice of they don't want to hear from
28. 6:12you is there and it's ever present. And so we went back and forth today and it was really powerful.
29. 6:19And it's like, no, they do want to hear from me. They do want to hear from me. They've been waiting so fucking long to hear from me.
30. 6:26I've got all this evidence. They want to hear from me. All of them, everyone. Who's they? So anyway, that was super cool.

63. 11:24you, I don't ask much of you on this channel. Is I want you to share a story and I want you to share a story of impact of how AI has
64. 11:33changed your changed your life in some way. It doesn't have to be profound. Simple stories are sometimes the ones that are most effective.
65. 11:40But I want you to share it with two things in mind. One is I want you to share a story that Daisy and I can use in Washington.
66. 11:47But the other one is I want you to share it in a way that's like a model for other people in the community.
67. 11:53For how they might share because one of the things that we're working on in mastermind is intentionally sharing and
68. 12:02commenting on one another's work. And what I realized this week is it's fucking scary.
69. 12:07And so I think a lot of people are scared to contribute. So that's my request. Go into community feed right now and I will
70. 12:13finish this up shortly, relatively shortly. However slow an old man can type. All right.
71. 12:52And even a day with White House staff. I'm going to be at the White House this time with White House staff educating them.

125. 22:35I talked about having like all of the first three years of Wired magazine except the premiere issue. And I never got it.
126. 22:41And it always bummed me out that I never got it. And Brandon has been like hanging out on eBay, like, you
127. 22:48know, buying doilies and things like that and looking for the premiere issue of Wired magazine that wasn't, you know,
128. 22:55a mint condition, five thousand dollar version. And he got one and he sent it to me. So I just thank you. Like it. It means so much that.

145. 25:56So so the short answer is there's good news for you. The open source community is there are tens of thousands of options.
146. 26:06The downside of it is you have to be pretty geeky. So if you're geeky, you should be good. But we'll figure that out.
147. 26:20Yeah, it really depends on what you're starting with. Okay. Well, you have Pinocchio. Pinocchio will install stuff.

149. 26:59So if you download LLM Studio, if you download LLM Studio, this was recommended by Brent Peterson. I've got an HP Victus 151 or 161.
150. 27:14I'm not a PC guy. I don't know what that means. But if you go get LLM Studio, if you just want something that's like chat.
151. 27:23First of all, is there any reason you're not just using free chat GPT? Because free chat GPT is better
152. 27:31than like way better than anyone knows. So if you haven't dug deep on free chat GPT, you should go do that.
153. 27:40I think they give you some amount of images you can make. But you can you can do pretty much all the stuff.
154. 27:46The thinking might not be as deep. But if you're going to compare that to open source models, it's really, really good.
155. 27:54I need to be able to integrate it with various things. If you need to integrate it and you need to do open source Okay.
156. 27:59stuff, like hang out on hugging face. That's where a lot of the models are. You can test a lot of them there.
157. 28:11Pinocchio is a thing that sets up Python environments on your computer for you automatically. So you don't have to manually
158. 28:18set up all these environments. People, nice people, like the people on this call, go out and they set up scripts for you that just
159. 28:27install all the shit to make something work. So Pinocchio is a good one. LLM Studio is a good one. And then just go hang out on hugging
160. 28:36face and just start to figure it out. What you'll have to do is figure out the capacity of your
161. 28:43computer, how much VRAM you have, you know, the sort of scale of your GPUs and things like that.
162. 28:49And then you'll have to get appropriately sized models and you probably need a pretty decent hard drive.
163. 28:57But what I can tell you is that, you know, the open source community is making these models more and more and more efficient.
164. 29:06The other thing you should do is you should join the AI Salon and there's an ask for help section in there and go
165. 29:12in there and ask for help because there are people in the AI Salon that are much better at this than I am.
166. 29:17Because I don't really do the open source thing. I'm just starting to do it. And I don't have the patience for it to do it really well.

200. 37:43But one of the most magical moments anyone in New York will appreciate this and you'll appreciate this.
201. 37:49One of my most magical moments in my life. Was. It was 19. 1995.
202. 38:04Yeah, 1995 probably end of January early February. And New York City got dumped like three feet of snow like
203. 38:12it was it was a big New York City, you know, unprecedented kind of kind of storm. And we were in the middle of doing agency.com.
204. 38:22So we had like like we were like we could not not work. We had to go to the office.
205. 38:28So we subwayed up there and we went to our offices were in the timing building on Avenue of the Americas. It was it was all highfalutin.
206. 38:36It was cool. And I remember we were like, let's go take a break and let's go to Times Square and see what Times Square is like.
207. 38:44And so we walked over from the timing building across what was that on that was like 53rd and then we and then we sort of walked up.
208. 38:53Whatever the whatever the avenue was into Times Square. And we walked into Times Square and there's no people and no cars.
209. 39:06And it's fucking silent because the snow was absorbing all the sound. So like there were no horns. There was no chatter.
210. 39:16There was no nothing. It was just silence. And then like on the far end of Times Square, you saw like someone in, you know, cross
211. 39:24country skis skiing up Broadway. So cool. And it's like it's one of those things where it's like you couldn't replicate it, right?
212. 39:36It would it could only be that. There were some apocalyptic thing where there's just no traffic and no people. But man, that was amazing.
213. 39:45And it was it was definitely one of those moments where it was just like like the the lack of auditory feedback in this.
214. 39:53You get this visual stimuli of Times Square and then just nothing in your ears. It was just surreal. It was so cool.
215. 40:03OK, Friday, January 16th, we're taking the A.I. salon to D.C. Next week, more than a dozen A.I. startup founders are
216. 40:11flying into Washington, D.C. with the A.I. salon, not for a photo op, not for A.I. is coming panic theater for real
217. 40:17conversations, roundtables, congressional and Senate office meetings. There's a set of meetings with White House and commerce staff.
218. 40:26Here's the thing I keep coming back to the future of A.I. policy can't be written only by the
219. 40:30largest companies with the loudest think tanks. It has to include people actually building people shipping the people seeing edge cases
220. 40:36unintended consequences in real time. That's shitty. We'll fix that. This is what we mean by curiosity meets community.
221. 40:45We're bringing founders who can talk about infrastructure, accessibility, trust, safety, productivity, creativity and
222. 40:51what happens when a promising tool meets messy human reality. And we're bringing a positive.
223. 40:59And we're bringing a posture that's very A.I. salon. Play first, create excellence, generously lead. Cool. What the fly in is really for.
224. 41:07Sounds fancy. So we're going there to create certainty. OK, so these are good. So Sunday, if you're building,
