3. 0:39to to that I'm in Denver Colorado watching the uh the Nuggets um this is the AI learning lab I was live a little bit earlier I had a little
4. 0:48time to kill so I figured I'd pop back on for a bit more um this channel is all about learning about
5. 0:55AI I'm learning about AI as I'm learning about it I'm sharing what I know so if you have questions about AI just pop them in the uh
6. 1:03in the what do they call them the comments and uh share this live if you think other people would benefit from
7. 1:09this a little bit about my background thoughts on AWS sagemaker is that new is that the same thing that AWS announced a
8. 1:22few weeks back hang on let me go look AWS Age Maker
9. 1:40when was this announced today getting started with sagemaker um I think that uh I I don't know I don't
10. 1:55know enough about sagemaker to give anything um specific about that but I think in general think you know the cloud-based
11. 2:02service is making these large language models accessible to businesses really really easily is is going to be it's
12. 2:09gonna essentially be a requirement if you're doing anything in cloud services you're going to have to have these kind
13. 2:14of foundational models available I think one of the biggest things that you know even in in my business I've got a small
14. 2:22video technology business um the ability for me to leverage my own data in all sorts of powerful ways if
15. 2:30these uh cloud services can make that really really easy then I think it's a good thing um I think AWS is a little behind the ball
16. 2:39um Google's Google's a little behind right now and uh openai is screwed some people up okay uh if you have questions about AI
17. 2:52oh there's lots of people here so great this is my name is Kyle Shannon this is the AI learning lab um if you're new to generative AI if
18. 2:59you've not played with chat GPT I want you to do that I want you to do that while you listen to me ramble so these
19. 3:05uh the reason I have these URLs up in this little window here and look I'll even make them bigger boom um the top one is uh Chachi BT's
20. 3:16official website chat.openai.com Bing is Microsoft search engine but there's a chat button there now if you click that
21. 3:23that's gpt4 and you can use it for free and then po.com lets you use their own cert their their own large language
22. 3:31model anthropics Claude different versions and chat CPT 3.5 and 4. um some of the models you have to have paid
23. 3:41access to use but pose really cool because one of the models that you can use is Claude 100k and Cloud 100K is a hundred thousand
24. 3:51token chat gbt basically where you can paste in up to 75 000 words into your prompt so for example you could take a
25. 4:02transcription from a three-hour meeting and just paste it in there um you could take your great American
26. 4:10novel and dump it in there and ask it for notes have it do a rewrite if you uh if you have questions about AI
27. 4:21pop them in I will do my best to get through and and answer them if I can't answer them I will tell you uh I'm a
28. 4:30smart ass I'm a gen xer I'm a long time entrepreneur and uh yeah and I like to I try to have fun here try to keep it keep it light
29. 4:39keep it alive what I want to get too heavy we don't want to get too heavy people uh um can we invest in what in you can
30. 4:49invest in Microsoft for Bing and for what they're doing getting under Google skin um I don't think you can invest in open
31. 4:56AI right now they're not public um Nvidia just hit a trillion dollar market cap after after doubling the previous
32. 5:06year I heard someone say that SEO is dead because of AI I'm trying out some and wondering what you think I think SEO is going to be forever
33. 5:18changed I don't think it's going to be dead but I think there will be um llmo large language model optimization
34. 5:33um how do you end up showing up in in results when someone asks about your subject is similar to SEO but with SEO
35. 5:41you can have all these sort of you know fake and artificially padded sites and things like that the the I feel like the
36. 5:49SEO game got really toxic and the reason it got toxic is that Google had 92 or 94 market share when chat GPT came out
37. 5:59and they essentially it was effectively a monopoly so um so everyone sort of figured out how to game the system and you know they
38. 6:08would change the algorithm and change things up but for the most part everyone was doing the same thing when
39. 6:13it came to that kind of marketing I think that as more and more people get used to getting answers from these
40. 6:19engines rather than getting a list of options that many of which are paid for it dramatically changes that game and in
41. 6:26fact you know Google announced that they've got a new search result that includes the answer to your question as well as links
42. 6:34um if it gives me the answer that I need I don't need to go look at those links right so I think it I think search
43. 6:40engine optimization has changed uh for forever it's not going to be apparent in the next six months to a year but as
44. 6:49usage of large language models goes up and search goes down and maybe there's some shifting and balancing from Google
45. 6:58maybe to Microsoft maybe to other players I think you're going to see The Rules start to change and and what's required start to change
46. 7:07so hope that helps you think you think it's gonna be well e reality soon um yeah I don't really remember Wally well enough to know but but
47. 7:22robots walking around helping us uh I don't know enough about that movie oh you know what we can do watch this over to the chat JPay Thai
48. 7:38yeah okay what's going on come on okay so we're gonna do a new chat I don't think we need to connect it to the
49. 7:49internet oh yeah we do because we okay so so here's what we're gonna do we're doing gpt4 and we're gonna say um what are some of the
50. 8:03um sci-fi elements of the movie Wall E um
51. 8:18that are related to generative AI create a table of the element
52. 8:32in one column where we are today and what year you predict we'll
53. 8:47get there let's see if it let's see if it goes off to the internet yeah it says browsing the web so that's interesting
54. 8:57Wally movie summary so it's going out to the web and getting a movie summary from wellie I wonder where it went let's go find out
55. 9:04where it went it went to Wikipedia okay solid smart clever now it's scrolling down it's thinking oh wait let me that's a
56. 9:13little too bright there you can there you should be able to see it um thinking it's thinking reading content good this is good thinking
57. 9:27all right doing a little more thinking oh okay so so the first one was go get the the Wally movie summary the second
58. 9:37thing it did was what's the current state of AI sentience and object recognition click failed so I don't know where it went um
59. 9:52very possible this is going to be largely disappointing but you know hey this is why we do this we're all
60. 9:58learning we're all just figuring this crap out bam boy it's doing a lot it's searching all over the place
61. 10:12predictions for when AI will achieve sentience research.ai multiple.com reading content failed sometimes I think it goes to
62. 10:23sites that are um that require a login and then it fails so all right sure let's discuss some of the Sci-Fi elements from the movie Wally
63. 10:35all right and now it's created a table so sentient robots as of 2023 we don't have them predicted year given the current pace of
64. 10:45AI and research it's likely to be a significant time for sentient robots okay fine Advanced computer vision
65. 10:53computer vision systems have greatly Advanced and are highly effective it's likely we will see further improvements
66. 10:59over time natural language processing and understanding so it didn't really give me a year prediction and then autopiloted spaceships
67. 11:10so yeah so it's like we've got some elements I you know I kind of feel like we're we're living in this we we are quickly approaching a
68. 11:21what I'm calling a post-sci-fi world where where you know just little elements of of you know movies that we
69. 11:27were like that's Fantastical when we were kids um there's a lot of stuff I remember from when I was when I watched Star Trek
70. 11:35as a kid where I'm like that'll never happen and now we have like you know phones that are like what they had there and pretty amazing stuff
71. 11:45um what can AI do some examples I just showed you some um AI can here's a fun one here's a good way to
72. 11:53start so if you've never if you haven't played with with chat EBT that's why I have these URLs up go to chat.openai.com
73. 12:01or Bing go to bing.com and click on the chat button and start playing with these tools and where where I would start is with what I
74. 12:13call parlor tricks and parlor tricks are just cool things that kind of demonstrate what the using chat gpt4 that's connected to the
75. 12:23internet it went and found you know a movie synopsis and then kind of compared features of that movie with the future
76. 12:30and it actually wrote it put it into table format like it can do that it formatted that table it did all the
77. 12:36research format of that table like that would probably take you a solid hour to go research all that make a table do that sort of thing
78. 12:43but let's do some let's do some fun things and I'll just do it with GPT 3.5 since that's the free one so if you if
79. 12:49you go to chat GPT you can use it for free but you only get to use 3.5 the the downside is it's not quite as
80. 12:58magical at the writing stuff but it's super fast so let's say um my dog is black and white and
81. 13:14football shaped and fat and Barks at anyone that walks by
82. 13:29um right a country song about my dog champ and so zip bang it writes you
83. 13:46um a song and it knows things like verse verses and choruses and it Rhymes so let me tell you about my about A Pup Named
84. 13:57champ a black and white Wonder with a football shaped stamp he's got a bark that's loud and he's quite a sight when
85. 14:05folks walk by he puts up a fight my dog champ he's a legend in town with his round little body um and his bark so loud he's black and
86. 14:14white like a piano key jump uh oh champ you're the best friend to me so right it wrote a cute chorus um it didn't give me a title though
87. 14:23please um give me 10 titles so so it understands that it just wrote a song about a dog named champ so I don't
88. 14:36have to say give me 10 titles about a song with about a dog named champ I don't have to repeat that so so one of the
89. 14:42things that these chat chibi teeth chat GPT things do is they have memory of what you can do so champ The Barking Ball of love black and
90. 14:52white football shaped that's pretty good Legends of champ the town's best friend chubby champ the protector's Hal piano
91. 15:00keys and puppy love The Ballad of champ so um so I did that okay so so that's a thing you can do so that's pretty slick now I can say
92. 15:09um write me a professional business email um requesting a partnership
93. 15:24with a um uh what's it called a with a a company I admire
94. 15:41all right and so it understands I didn't give it enough specific things to give it a specific name and I didn't really tell him anything
95. 15:50about my company so that would improve it but dear company name I hope this email finds you well I'm writing to
96. 15:55express my admiration for the company company name outstanding achievements and Innovative approach in your industry
97. 16:02field as the blank of my company right so so it put variables in there and then it's it's a decently long letter so I
98. 16:10can say things like make it's shorter and more conversational and so it will just do that boom boom boom so it starts out now
99. 16:27I hope this email finds you well exclamation point I wanted to reach out and let you know how much I admire you
100. 16:33your impressive achievements and Forward Thinking approach we specialize in blank our values and vision strongly align with yours now I
101. 16:42can do this now I can say um please um format this email in HTML that is safe to send in and email uh in in an in a
102. 17:01bulk email program and now it writes the code so so it's basically rewriting the email that it just wrote in HTML code
103. 17:19right so so those are just like a handful of examples like just just you know off the top of my head and what I would say is this
104. 17:29start playing with these tools and start out with these kind of parlor tricks have it write a song have it write a poem have a I don't know
105. 17:36um look you can copy and paste your LinkedIn profile just all the elements from your LinkedIn profile paste it in
106. 17:42there and have it write you a resume or have it write you a cover letter uh if you're trying to get a job
107. 17:47and then what I would say is start to think about projects in your life either for you personally or for someone else or for your job
108. 17:56where you want to accomplish something and then try to figure out how to use these tools to accomplish that a good way to think about
109. 18:06is like an incredibly smart assistant or an incredibly smart collaborator Microsoft has named their chat GPT thing
110. 18:16co-pilot which I think is a really good name and it's it's a very app description you're the pilot you figure
111. 18:21out what you want to do and then think of chat GPT as your co-pilot um what if I want to talk to AI about
112. 18:29numbers not language well you can so let me just do a new chat here I'll just pop back over there um thank you for the Roses AJ that's cool
113. 18:39um so let me say uh because I don't know [ __ ] about math so let's say um uh please act as a um advanced mathematics
114. 18:55professor and tell me the 10 most important equations I should learn
115. 19:10thank you for the little thingy there learn all right as an advanced mathematical dude hear hear your things the
116. 19:19Pythagorean theorem Euler's formula foundational theorem of calculus Maxwell's equations okay so now I can say um please give me
117. 19:34five examples um that utilize Max Wells equations with
118. 19:49relevant data certainly here you go electromagnetic wave propagation Maxwell's equations can be used to
119. 20:01analyze the behavior of electromagnetic waves I think everybody knew that it's fairly obvious isn't it let's consider a
120. 20:08scenario where the electromagnetic wave with a frequency of three gigahertz three ten to the ninth Hertz propagates
121. 20:14throughout space frequency F network error regenerate response sometimes chat gbt gets a little it gets a little tired
122. 20:23too many people are using it they're asking it for big equations so now it went and solved it capacitor charging
123. 20:32magnetic field due to current so anyway um so we can do math now let me show you another cool thing if you pay for um
124. 20:45chat GPT plus and you get access to gpt4 then you also get access to these things called plugins and in the plugins I
125. 20:56don't have any enabled right now but I have a bunch installed one of them that I have installed is the Wolfram Alpha um
126. 21:07uh plug-in so now chat GPT is connected to wool from alpha so please um show me all of Max Wells
127. 21:22equations as a stand alone formula followed by an example
128. 21:38and that should now fire off the plug-in for wolf from alpha but maybe not maybe it knows enough that it doesn't think it
129. 21:48needs to go out there and do that um I'm trying to think what else well let's we'll see if it we'll see if it fires off the um
130. 22:10come on it's a little slow tonight am I using oh I'm using GPT for gpt4 is slower than 3.5 so if you want speed use 3.5
131. 22:19if you want quality use for four is better at coding gpt4 is better at writing it's like it's really good at writing
132. 22:32can AI makes investment suggestions Based on data available publicly online so yeah so some of the plugins there are Financial plugins
133. 22:43um so so you can do things like you can have chat GPT write you an investment bot you can take code from two different investment Bots
134. 22:52and and put them together it says using unknown plugin I wonder if well from alpha just screwed up this wolf from alpha could not understand
135. 23:06huh I don't know what it did um anyway so I don't know why it didn't use wolf from alpha there so it kind of
136. 23:14screwed up it looks like their servers might be overloaded right now um but anyway you can also um some of the plugins are investment
137. 23:21like like there's ones that pull in stock data real-time stock data and and so so yeah you can analyze things with
138. 23:28chat GPT and use the plugins to go get the real-time data or just use the internet connected chat GPT
139. 23:36um but you can have it you can copy the code from two different trading Bots and paste it into chat GPT and tell it to
140. 23:43create you a hybrid bot that takes the the you know combines the two approaches um it's it's it it's really remarkable

142. 24:01links right here that well they're not links but um if you haven't used chat GPT the top URL there is chat apt's official website
143. 24:10chat.openai.com bing.com is Microsoft's implementation of chat gpt4 and then poe.com is another thing that gives you
144. 24:19access to chat GPT and Claude and their own model sage and and some different things the reason I put these here is I
145. 24:27want people just to try the real deal there's a lot of scam sites out there and scam apps that are trying to rip
146. 24:33people off so I'm trying to have you not be ripped off if you have questions about generative AI That's what I'm here to do answer this
147. 24:42and uh yeah ask away and I'll do my best to answer it and have fun along the way and I'm watching the Nuggets game
148. 24:52nuggets are down 89 to 85 right now the heat are picking it up they're picking it up I live in Denver by the way so that's
149. 25:04why I'm looking I don't really give two shits about basketball but you know but they're in the finals so that's kind
150. 25:11of cool I'm I'm definitely a fair weather sports fan unless it comes to racing F1 and NASCAR both of those I follow
151. 25:18uh not that you care oh the reason I'm just rambling right now is I'm trying to figure out where where I got lost in my
152. 25:25questions because Tick Tock reset my questions and so I'm just trying to figure out where I was so if it seems
153. 25:30like I'm just sitting here talking to myself that's because I'm just sitting here talking to myself how old am I I'm 58
154. 25:37um you think oh yeah okay so I'm I'm sort of back to where I was hold please I'm almost there I have come to the conclusion a couple
155. 25:47of days ago that I am an AI it's possible that's awesome what are you some of your favorite prompts um well so prompts.chat the the little
156. 26:01lower thing here prompts.chat is is a thing called awesome GPT prompts and and basically what it is is it's a
157. 26:11long long list of prompts that tell Chachi PT to act as a certain kind of person basically or a certain kind of robot
158. 26:22um you know act as a stock Trader act as a movie critic act as a that actually works really well with
159. 26:30chat GPT because of the nature of how it works it basically Narrows the sort of you know they call it sort of the
160. 26:38semantic clusters or the vectors um when you tell it to act as a stock Trader it's not going to look at all of
161. 26:45the times someone mentioned stock trading even if they're not experts if you say act as a stock Trader it's going
162. 26:51to look in the in the in the latent space it's called for the area where people are stock Traders talking about stock trading so
163. 27:00um so part of my favorite prompts are are act as a um so that's a good one there's a there's another good thing that you can do I
164. 27:11here's rather than a specific prompt there's there's more like a prompt philosophy so Google for years has trained us that
165. 27:20you write the perfect prompt and you get back an answer right and if they've done their job right you get back this long
166. 27:26list of things and ideally the first two or three links are the ones that you need and then because of SEO and
167. 27:33advertising and things like that over the past I don't know five or seven years it's gotten pretty shitty where
168. 27:39it's just there's a lot of spam in there and it's it's it's been over seo'd right um so so with chat GPT because we've been kind of
169. 27:50trained to do this perfect prompt in single answer out I think that's kind of the expectation is that you know write
170. 27:56me the Great American novel and out comes the Great American novel what happens though is the the more generic your prompt the more
171. 28:06generic the answer and so so a lot of people try chat EBT and they're like well it sucks it gave me a stupid answer
172. 28:13so rather than think about it like a search engine think about it like a conversation and you say well I want to
173. 28:19write the Great American novel where would I start hey Chachi PT can you act as a a writing consultant that specializes in helping
174. 28:29people write the Great American novel sure I'll do that and it'll probably give you a little bit of advice then you
175. 28:34say I have an idea for a novel about you know a guy that lives with a fat dog and his two kids and his wife and I don't
176. 28:42know it's raining out whatever it is um what might be some other elements that would make that story interesting and it
177. 28:52will give you some and then maybe you like some of those and then you're like I don't know how to organize a novel
178. 28:57what what are some different story Frameworks that um I might use to to make this novel well there's save the cat and there's
179. 29:04this and it'll give you a bunch of story Frameworks and then you say oh tell me more about save The Cat and it'll tell
180. 29:10you and you're like can you help me write an outline for my book using the save the cat story framer sure here you
181. 29:16go out it comes right and and within you know 10 minutes of that back and forth interaction you'll be more educated you'll
182. 29:27understand prompting better you'll probably have a pretty solid outline to your great American novel right and you
183. 29:34might be inspired to do other things right and so so I so so for me the the prompting game is is really about
184. 29:42prompting philosophy right and and it's sort of break your conversation up into small little chunks and give it a small
185. 29:49specific chunk that it can do well after you provide it with a lot of context I want you to be this consultant and
186. 29:56here's the idea I have and and you know here's what I want my book to do and then you ask it a simple little question
187. 30:03and it'll give you an answer based on that context so that's that's how I would approach it because all of the
188. 30:09specific prompts that people tell you oh here's the 10 prompts that'll make Chachi Pate beautiful you can make money which I pay tag um
189. 30:17those might work for them they might not work for you you know I would say start with what are you trying to accomplish
190. 30:23and then just think of it like if you had an intern that just happened to be smarter than anyone else on the planet
191. 30:31um how would you ask it how would you ask that person to do something for you I don't know you'd probably tell them
192. 30:37who you are and what you're trying to accomplish and you'd give them some instructions and see if they understood
193. 30:42it and then get an answer so that's what I do software engineer a little worried about AI yeah um what should I study for job security
194. 30:51in the future I I mean I would lean in heavy into um generative AI for um I don't know where you are if you're
195. 31:03a software engineer you're probably doing coding so if you're not using github's co-pilot you probably should
196. 31:10um if I were if I were a software engineer right now I'd be learning about you know all of the open source large
197. 31:17language models I'd be installing them on local machines and learning about security um I think there's a there's going to be
198. 31:25a big new area of um of AI called AI Ops which is there's going to be lots and lots of AI tools and companies are going to want
199. 31:36their data manipulated in all sorts of crazy ways and they're going to need it's going to be like an I.T position
200. 31:41but it's going to be people that understand what these AI tools are how to connect them together how to connect them to apis um
201. 31:50I would start learning things like Lang chain and auto GPT and baby AGI the autonomous agents those things are all
202. 31:58kind of sophisticated you know co-mingling of different tools on the back end so I just start digging in and learning learning learning um
203. 32:13creators will never be replaced your ability to imagine is beyond technical skills yeah well so I I tend to agree
204. 32:20with that I think that what goes up in value in a world where all the Tactical stuff can be executed by the machines is
205. 32:28critical thinking creative thinking curation taste refinement um understanding your audience understanding strategy things like that
206. 32:41um yay so glad you're on thank you I appreciate that all right um I can be in the university class and have my knowledge project on my
207. 32:51classmates and be the dumbest wait I can be in the university class and have my knowledge project on my classmates and
208. 32:57be the dumbest I don't quite know what that means oh dumbest student in the class well yeah I think what you're saying is
209. 33:06with access to these with access to this immediate access to knowledge you don't need to be book smart to be able to get
210. 33:14access to this knowledge that's true um and and the reality is is that everyone's going to have access to that
211. 33:21knowledge so I don't quite know the role of universe universities as they currently are are kind of broken in this
212. 33:27model right because a lot of what universities are about right now is giving you information in such a way
213. 33:33that you gain enough knowledge to be able to be competent well with these large language models you've got instant
214. 33:39access to that knowledge and and even a level of competence like it can write computer code for you even if you don't know how to do that
215. 33:47um you still need to know how to put all put it all together but um but yeah it definitely does that all right when you ask AI what
216. 33:58information do you need from me how do you answer like 10 questions in a row oh that's a really good question here watch this this is cool
217. 34:08this is a little hack that um I got from someone on my um on my Tick Tock I put out a tick tock and I said
218. 34:23you can take the readme file of a GitHub paste it into chat gbt and and tell it I'm on OS X and please give me
219. 34:32step-by-step instructions to get this GitHub repository up and running GitHub is a code repository for those of you
220. 34:38that are not geeky I'm just geeky enough to know what it is but I don't really know how to do it so I can have chat GPT
221. 34:44teach me how to do that step by step which is cool um and um and then someone on my Tick Tock told me to do this okay so
222. 34:56um give me step by step instructions for um getting a GitHub repository up and running it may not do
223. 35:14it because it's going to ask me which GitHub repository oh no sure here's the step-by-step instructions so now it's going to give
224. 35:22you the step-by-step instructions create a GitHub account install git configure git then it gives you the code
225. 35:30oh sorry to configure git now create a new repository right so this is this is about if I wanted to create my own reposit
226. 35:38repository how to get it going okay now I'm going to say stop so so now what I'm going to say is this I'm going to say
227. 35:46I want you to act as my coding coach and give me each instruction
228. 36:00one at a time and not move on to the next step until I say
229. 36:16okay I got it and then I'm going to say do you understand question mark and now it should
230. 36:30absolutely I can do that we'll take it one step at a time step one if you don't already have this blah blah blah blah blah blah let me
231. 36:39know when you've successfully created your account okay I got it excellent now let's move on to the next step step two install git
232. 36:50go to the website download the version suitable let me know when you've completed it now I can say I'm on OS X does that matter
233. 37:05or is there anything special I need to know question mark yes you can install git on OS X you can use Homebrew a package manager for OS X
234. 37:21and now it tells me how to install Homebrew so open your terminal on your Mac right so so and now I can say okay let me just say
235. 37:31okay I didn't even say okay I got it great job now it's moved on to step three configure git so yeah so you can do that so

240. 38:19parallels from the early days of the web to what's going on right now with generative Ai and chat GPT and and the
241. 38:25generative image engines and things like that and so I'm just here to tell people what I what I'm learning along the way
242. 38:32because I'm I'm getting up to speed um on this AI stuff kind of in real time over the past year and I'm sharing what
243. 38:40I'm learning along the way so if you're new to ai go to the the top three websites they're the very top one
244. 38:46chat.openai.com that's the official chatgpt website so if you want to play with chat CPT just go there and start
245. 38:52playing and then the other things are some other options and then prompts.chat will teach you how to do some prompting
246. 38:59and and some philosophy about it and then futurepedia.io is just like this database of tools lots and lots of tools um all right
247. 39:13can AI tell me the Powerball numbers someone on the on my last lives said that that um chat GPT correctly guessed
248. 39:24the Powerball numbers but they didn't play them [Laughter] play to win I'm a gen xer I don't I don't know if you remember that there were TV

262. 42:04creating Json of that now it's creating an email template so this is way more than writing a procedural manually formatted
263. 42:19email formatting tool that would write some HTML this is writing code right it understands code it understands the logic if you haven't used
264. 42:31github's copilot it sounds like you're decently technical I would go start using it and start seeing what this
265. 42:38stuff can do not only did it write the code for me it's explaining how it did it it's explaining how I need to replace the URLs
266. 42:46it can analyze your code it can debug your code it will often get it wrong but if you're a good programmer

388. 1:02:26copyright material we wouldn't have these things um I I have a sneaking suspicion so stability AI they're the company that
389. 1:02:36made stable diffusion they've also got their own large language model that they just open sourced they open source their
390. 1:02:43image model too now they're a for-profit company and they're open sourcing their their core models and and I initially
391. 1:02:50was like why the hell are they doing that and then what hit me was I suspect that they knew that they trained these things on copywritten
392. 1:02:58material and they might get their asses sued from here to Oblivion but they want the technology to be out in the world so um
393. 1:03:08in the ideal world you would ask everyone for permission for everything they've ever written and put on the internet in the real world
394. 1:03:16there's so much [ __ ] on the internet copywritten and non-copy written and proprietary and non-proprietary that's
395. 1:03:22just out there it's been out there for 30 40 50 years um if you really want to train one of these models to have a vast amount of
396. 1:03:31knowledge you kind of have to train it wide um companies like Adobe are um like they train their Adobe Firefly
397. 1:03:42their their model that's now part of the generative AI part of Photoshop they trained it on public domain and Adobe
398. 1:03:51stock images that they own all the rights to so they made the conscious decision not to train it on copywritten
399. 1:03:57material for that very reason right because they're they're a big commercial entity and they want anything produced
400. 1:04:04in Adobe products to be able to be used commercially right um so I think it it was a necessary evil and now that it's been done these models
401. 1:04:15are [ __ ] incredible they're incredible and if you understand how they work what they're not doing is they're not
402. 1:04:23copying and pasting passages from copywritten work the way it actually works is they're predicting a single word at a time
403. 1:04:33based on your prompt they're saying what's the probability of the next word that should follow this prompt and then
404. 1:04:39the next one after that and then the next one after that so it's writing original content it's just the training
405. 1:04:44base is on lots of stuff and some of that is arguably copywritten it is a very gray area um IP attorneys are going to be suing
406. 1:04:53for the next bunch of decades I'm sure they're happy about this um but anyway yeah that's what I think
407. 1:04:58about that do you think the you they use wait do you think they use this to push out news articles yeah they're like like a
408. 1:05:07couple of uh Publications have recently just um admitted that they're doing that and they've been doing that and they don't
409. 1:05:13don't intend on stopping and some have even let go of some of their reporters um because they're like we're just going to do it with AI
410. 1:05:22um one of the big ad agencies I forget who it was um so publicist no it wasn't publicist I think it was uh

448. 1:11:02these tools are going to be everywhere they're going to get rolled into Microsoft Office Suite they're going to
449. 1:11:07get rolled into windows 11. they're probably going to get rolled into you know Apple's operating systems
450. 1:11:14they're going to get rolled into the Google Suite of tools right so Bard is going to be within you know dot Google
451. 1:11:19Docs and sheets and all that sort of stuff so this stuff's going to be everywhere it's going to be a required
452. 1:11:24skill to lose it use it so so what you can do with students now is you can say hey this Tool's out there let's learn it
453. 1:11:32together let's learn what it's good at let's learn what hallucinating is let's let's learn how it gets stuff wrong
454. 1:11:39let's let's let's understand that the nature of how we prompt this thing um can actually dramatically affect the
455. 1:11:47quality of the result let's let's learn critical thinking to understand you know why are we using this tool in the first
456. 1:11:54place what are we trying to accomplish you know what does success look like right all that sort of stuff is going to
457. 1:11:59be critical so aniline yes I'm awesome more of that will AI write programs for me to do X Y or Z and if so how would I get it
458. 1:12:14um it can you need to know a little bit about programming if you like it will write code for you if you don't know
459. 1:12:21coding what I would use is is what's called a no code tool like zapier so let me let me show you quick
460. 1:12:29I've written a number of content engines with zapier and I'm not a coder and I have 80d so I can't I just don't have
461. 1:12:35the attention span to do real real coding uh did I I think I sent him with Google um remarkable conceptually but very very
462. 1:12:47early and very very janky um you know language like Lang flow is the the front end in front of Lang chain
463. 1:12:56to make people like me be able to use it but it's it's just really early and really janky um and kind of like spit and duct tape
464. 1:13:03together right now so is auto GPT all of those tools are very very promising they're just um they're just they break a lot
465. 1:13:17um and and they don't necessarily tell you why they're breaking or how they're breaking and they're complicated sets of
466. 1:13:22tools and and how the prompting actually works is a little is a little funky so I would say if you're a developer I would
467. 1:13:31be leaning into those things hard and what I would probably do is I would actually join the open source
468. 1:13:36communities and start contributing to those projects um I would really learn them deep if I were a developer because I I think I
469. 1:13:43think autonomous autonomous agents are going to be a big big deal I think Apple's going to be great at them do I
470. 1:13:50think prompt writing will continue to be important as chat AIS get better I don't think that you'll have I so so there's already something
471. 1:14:02version of it that came out let me see if I've got it installed I'm going to turn off wool from alpha prompt perfect
472. 1:14:16okay so what this thing is it's pretty slick so if in my prompt I type perfect as the first word and then I say um right
473. 1:14:31a poem that mimics a famous poet about um the blue sky
474. 1:14:47that's a crappy prompt but I wrote perfect in front of it and so it's firing up that plug-in prompt perfect
475. 1:14:58and then I think inside it just sends my crappy prompt to prompt perfect they probably have some prompt
476. 1:15:05that rewrites my prompt so it says sure I'll write a pro poem in the style of Robert Frost who is known for his nature poetry and his
477. 1:15:15contemplative often melancholic tone so if I open up this thing what I typed was what I what I told you
478. 1:15:22here it rephrased it compose a poem that imitates imitates the style and tone of a renowned poet while focusing on the
479. 1:15:30topic of Blue Sky your poem should capture the essence of the original poet's work while also incorporating
480. 1:15:37your own unique perspective and voice and then so the the thing responded with that and then behold the boundless blue
481. 1:15:44I stand a solitary figure on life sand the sky a canvas brought in Grand painted by a Divine hand the Azure Dome
482. 1:15:54so vast so high mirrors of depth I mean that's not bad so I think that a lot of the tools are gonna get you're
483. 1:16:03gonna get assistance that happen behind the scenes uh where you where you write something crappy and it'll fix it for you so
484. 1:16:12so I don't think that I I think it's it's kind of like why do you need to learn math if we've got calculators and computers and
485. 1:16:20spreadsheets well because you should probably understand the concept of like you know addition and subscription
486. 1:16:25subtraction and division things like that so I think it's very similar because we're very early having that skill and honing that skill of
487. 1:16:34understanding how to talk to these things you really get to understand what they're good at what they're not good at
488. 1:16:40why they make mistakes and and you can you can get better at it so I think it's an important skill but I don't think
489. 1:16:46it'll be long term I think I think we'll pretty quickly get to the point that you just kind of ask it vague shitty stuff

547. 1:25:19curriculum it's not just in the computer science department which I think is the right way to to think about this because
548. 1:25:25this is a business tool now it's not just a it's not just for the I.T Department this is a full-on business
549. 1:25:30tool and and will be increasingly um I would I would talk to the you know the school leaders that you're looking at
550. 1:25:40and and ask them their position on AI and if they're like well we've got blockers that block that we're we're not
551. 1:25:47going to deal with that I would steer far away from them I would I would you know what what probably makes sense is go
552. 1:25:56listen to a bunch of podcasts on education where they're talking about this and like that's how I heard the guy
553. 1:26:01the Provost of the University of Florida I heard him on the Nvidia podcast and I was like [ __ ] I would go to school there um
554. 1:26:09so I would go find schools that are taking this stuff seriously and they're out there there was in fact go go look for go Google
555. 1:26:18um there's a New York Times article I think back in January um there was a bunch of heads of universities saying we've got to take AI
556. 1:26:26seriously it's probably worth finding that article who programmed chat GPT um well open AI is the company
557. 1:26:34and this is here here's a fun little fact so chat GPT was launched on November 30th 2022 it got to 100 million users in six weeks six weeks
558. 1:26:46um the World Wide Web it took six years to get to 100 million users chat EBT was six weeks but here's the fun little fact
559. 1:26:55gpt3 came out like a year and a half or a year and a quarter before chat GPT came out and in the documentation of
560. 1:27:05gpt3 were instructions for how to create chat GPT and Sam Altman the CEO of openai assumed that someone would make
561. 1:27:13it no one made it so Microsoft was getting ready to announce their billion dollar investment in open Ai and Sam
562. 1:27:21Altman said to his Tech Team hey you got two weeks to throw together chat gbt they built that thing in two weeks
563. 1:27:29they really just did it as like a proof of concept so that when they made this announcement there was something for
564. 1:27:34people to go play with they had no idea it was going to take off like it did six weeks it it got to a million users
565. 1:27:42in five days and a hundred million users in six weeks um and it changed everything it changed everything it it smoked Google Out of
566. 1:27:52the Shadows it you know meta went all in on the AI stuff um Apple's going to do something big AWS just announced it like it it changed

609. 1:34:15really need to kind of dig deep on it it's quite simple to install it's quite difficult to do something that doesn't suck

611. 1:34:28in fact I I just saw on Twitter today someone built a whole thing on top of Lang chain where it's like you
612. 1:34:37point your YouTube channel at it and your Google Docs at it you point all these different things at it and then
613. 1:34:42you can go interact with your [ __ ] so that's what I'm kind of waiting for someone just to build the front end for
614. 1:34:47it so I don't have to dick around with it um what do I believe chat EPT is the next big thing what do you believe
615. 1:34:53Chachi PT is the next big thing yes I well it doesn't large language models are the next big thing chat GPT is just an instance sitting on
616. 1:35:06top of a large language model but there there are already thousands of tools built on top of chat GPT things like Jasper and copy AI
617. 1:35:16um there's going to be image generation tools video generation tools animation generation tools PowerPoint generation tools like
618. 1:35:24all of this stuff is all the same technology just aimed at different um like tool areas so yeah I think it's
619. 1:35:34a big thing I think it's bigger than the world wide web and I like I said I was I was a founder of one of the first
620. 1:35:39digital agencies back in the mid 90s so I've been through one of these once I think this is bigger bigger than that
621. 1:35:45what's been the Big Technical Improvement in AI that caused this explosion this is cool so in I can actually show you a slide on this
622. 1:36:02where is it where are you so cool wrote a paper called attention is all you need and they introduced this thing called
623. 1:36:16the Transformer and what the Transformer did was prior to the Transformer you had these neural networks and you have these machine learning
624. 1:36:26um you know methodologies that take advantage of these neural networks but you could only train it on
625. 1:36:33relatively small data sets and you kind of had to bring your own data sets and what the Transformer allowed is that you
626. 1:36:38could train these neural networks on massive data sets and what openai discovered as they use these things more and more is that the
627. 1:36:49more data and more processing power you threw out them the better they got and so they created GPT one and then gpt2
628. 1:36:57and then in 2020 they released gpt3 and gpt3 was kind of the first one that was people were like um holy [ __ ] this is really good
629. 1:37:08and they did a couple of things there they did um they trained it on English language and and open AI uses this thing called human
630. 1:37:18reinforcement learning where they they get the models to a certain point and then they have human beings interacting
631. 1:37:24with the tools and then they'll say is this good or bad and then and then the it fine-tunes the model and that's what got it really good
632. 1:37:33so that was one thing that they did and then the other thing that they did was they created this thing called uh
633. 1:37:40code something they basically taught the large language model like 60 computer programming languages they taught it how to program right and
634. 1:37:49that became co-pilot which is in GitHub what they found is that when they taught this model to do the programming the the
635. 1:37:56English language or the language side got dramatically better so there was kind of a step increase in capability an emergent
636. 1:38:05um an unexpectedly strong benefit from teaching this language model how to program and and uh and then that evolved into gpt4
637. 1:38:15um but the Transformer is what's sitting underneath mid-journey and stable diffusion the image generation tools
638. 1:38:21it's the stuff that you know they're reading people's brain scans right now and recreating images that they're
639. 1:38:27seeing it's all based on this stuff so so because you can train these models on these massive data sets now you can
640. 1:38:35start to do all these other interesting things with it so that invention by Google in 2017 is is kind of the Tipping
641. 1:38:42Point that precipitated all of the stuff that we're seeing and the ironic thing is is that they invented it but then
642. 1:38:49they kind of held that technology back I assume because they recognized that it would be an existential threat to their
643. 1:38:56search business so they said well we don't want to put ourselves out of business and then Sam Altman went and made a kick ass
644. 1:39:03large language model and then built chat GPT that a hundred million people started using within six weeks and that changed everything
645. 1:39:11so what you're going to see over the next two years is there's there the entire development Community is just
646. 1:39:16pounced on this whole area so the Innovation we're going to see over the next two years is going to be
647. 1:39:22just more face melting more face melting stuck what happened to him the signal just went am I still out
648. 1:39:33I missed the Henry Ford wait I missed out when Henry Ford manufactured a car that's funny um I missed that when we started nuclear energy uh
649. 1:39:44how can I make a career online with AI um take what you know just start learning AI and then take things that you're
650. 1:39:52passionate about or you know a lot about find a problem in the world that you have a better solution for and have a AI
651. 1:39:59help you solve that problem it doesn't ai's just the tool to help you get there don't think like you can get react for attaching pite
652. 1:40:09you can make money without GPD all of those people are [ __ ] they're trying to sell you something how you make a business how you make
653. 1:40:20money is you solve a problem well enough that someone is willing to pay you money for that solution if you can use AI to do that great
654. 1:40:31maybe you love kitties and you love coffee mugs and you want to make kitty coffee mugs well you could hire
655. 1:40:37illustrators on Fiverr to make those kitty drawings or you could make those kitty drawings or now you could use
656. 1:40:42mid-journey to make those kitty drawings and then you go stick those kitty drawings on coffee mugs and sell them on
657. 1:40:48Etsy I mean it the the the mechanism of of how you start a business and how you generate value in the world that doesn't
658. 1:40:57change the power and amplification of these tools is what changes so maybe you can do things at a very different scale
659. 1:41:06than you could have before or you can do it faster or cheaper things like that how do we agent GPT to do the activity
660. 1:41:15and then just spit lines of tasks um just tell it to act like a project manager tell it what you're trying to
661. 1:41:24accomplish and have it spit you lines of tasks and it will do that um reshma Thomas how do we ask agent gbt
662. 1:41:32to do oh I just I just answered that um right show them what you accomplish using AI show your aoi correct
663. 1:41:42uh why would you actually show them then you lose your job no I totally disagree um no they're gonna listen these tools are
664. 1:41:53going to be rolled into all of the work software that we use anyway um I I would encourage you with with this AI stuff
665. 1:42:05try not to have a mentality of scarcity but have a mentality of prosperity meaning there's more than enough to go around
666. 1:42:13like learn this stuff and get generous with it because even if it's positive change there's going to be a lot of disruption so get
667. 1:42:24in a generated get in a generous mode get curious about it and then teach people as much as you can even if you don't know anything teach
668. 1:42:34someone that knows more than you do there's people out there that have never heard of chat GPT there's a lot of

697. 1:47:28it's a probability engine but the way they coded gpt4 in particular it it very much wants to please you and it very much wants to
698. 1:47:42interact with you as a human conversation and I find that it that it's very good at empathetic language and it's very
699. 1:47:51good at Nuance you can ask it very polarizing questions where if you ask that in today's world you know you'd get
700. 1:47:58flamed out and canceled or whatever it might be and gpt4 well all the gpds really because they don't have an emotional an
701. 1:48:08emotional component to it they won't it doesn't get triggered so you can just put in like facts and say compare this with this even if those
702. 1:48:18are really highly charged things in our society it will just compare them and it does it with nuance and it does it with
703. 1:48:25Grace and it does it with empathy and and they did they did a test a week and a half or so ago now that they had
704. 1:48:33patients talk to chat GPT doctors you know and they didn't know they were chat gbt and real doctors and then they asked
705. 1:48:42them which doctors did you prefer and the patient's overwhelmingly chose the chat CPT doctors and they cited two
706. 1:48:50reasons one they were more competent and two they were more empathetic so so it's it's a it's it doesn't
707. 1:48:57surprise me at all that it that it you know it that it wrote that obituary obituary well and helped you gather your
708. 1:49:05thoughts it's it tends to be very good at that fellow A.D ADHD here yeah go ADHD ADHD Club president that's hilarious um
709. 1:49:17did I think they will merge AI VR metaverse and Beyond yeah I think that I think that um AI is going to drive
710. 1:49:26adoption in the metaverse I think whatever Apple's going to announce tomorrow is going to be a stepping stone but I I
711. 1:49:35think ultimately their glasses flop but I think probably the thinking beneath them and how they're thinking about
712. 1:49:41World building and how Apple already thinks about utility um I think they're going to be really good at
713. 1:49:50at some of the stuff that isn't so much like going into VR like the virtual world [ __ ] I think it's it's going to be more about
714. 1:49:58augmented reality and it's going to be more about autonomous agents where you get to talk to them and maybe you even get to talk in your
715. 1:50:10with your synthesized voice and it will do things for you and so yes I think AI is gonna ai's gonna accelerate the
716. 1:50:17ability to build Virtual Worlds but AI is also going to power a lot of the augmented reality stuff and then AI is gonna um
717. 1:50:27is going to be the the kind of lubricant of being able to communicate with these tools without having to type stuff and
718. 1:50:34do prompt engineering and all that [ __ ] I I think it'll get very high level very quickly where you just kind
719. 1:50:40of ask your phone or your tools or your computer hey I would like to start a business what should I do that will come

761. 1:56:51to a for-profit company and they got Microsoft to invest and they used all of Microsoft Azure servers to be able to do
762. 1:56:59all this compute and things like that so it's it's basically just the thing it's the T in GPT generative pre-trained
763. 1:57:07Transformer so that t and GPT is the Transformer architecture that allowed these things to be trained on massive
764. 1:57:15data sets like all of the internet so that's the result of what it is how it actually does it I don't know well enough to talk about

778. 1:59:28concept of how we work and how we make money that we can't even imagine right now so the opportunity is start learning about
779. 1:59:38this stuff because as janky and weird and imperfect as it is right now it's remarkable and what will happen is you might be the
780. 1:59:48person or I might be the person to go oh you know what this could do if you if you took this tool you stuck it together
