11. 2:16lightning and thunder. The electricity went out. to reset the internet router. I didn't know if we'd be going live tonight,
12. 2:23but we are back. Ocean has joined. Haven't seen you in a while, Ocean. I hope you're well. Steo, it's 11:11 a.m. It is tomorrow.

14. 2:57>> [music] >> Um, so lot going on. So Wednesday night we're going to play with some stuff.
15. 3:13we're going to build or create or just play. A lot of things have come out in the past three or four days. Um, so we're
16. 3:23going to go look at stuff. We're going to go look at the new Apples Apple uh Mac Minis and Mac Studios that came out.
17. 3:34If you want to get a tricked out Mac Studio right now with 256 gigs of RAM, you can. It's a 90-day wait period and
18. 3:44it's going to run you back 12 to 15 grand depending on how much you uh how much storage you put on it and like that. Um
19. 4:01Apple does do a lease program so you can lease that big bad boy machine for about 250 bucks a month. So for just more than
20. 4:13you're paying anthropic if you're doing the 200 buck a month thing or chatbt.

24. 4:58And that gives you a local a local model at that price. What are we talking about tonight? Well, we're going to talk a
25. 5:04little bit about that. That gives you So, there's there's a bunch of interesting things about that. 256 gigs definitely gives you a
26. 5:14decent model. To run a a really big one, you need a 512 gig machine and then you probably need more than that, but models
27. 5:22are getting better and smaller. Um, so a 256 gig machine is definitely going to give you a powerful local model,
28. 5:33meaning all of your AI stuff that you do, you don't have to go out to open AI. You don't have to go out to anthropic. You
29. 5:44can just do it on your desktop machine. Like all that intelligence now, it's is it the same as the big expensive models?
30. 5:52No. I think you need a 1.5 or 1.2 I think you need 1.2 terabytes of RAM to run the really big models with
31. 6:02with enough headroom to have context window. Um but 256 you can you can chain those things together. So I think you
32. 6:12could get to 512. Yeah, you could get to 1024. Yeah, you could get to a terabyte of RAM if you stacked four of those Max
33. 6:24Studios with 256 gigs of RAM. They're limiting it to two per customer. They're flying. Um they're probably going to be
34. 6:32sold out within a couple of days. Um Apple is is is really going to become like the local model company. It's going
35. 6:42to be it's going to be amazing. Yeah, you can wait. Um um there's an there's a a Mac event uh well there's an iPhone event happening
36. 6:56in September and I think they're going to announce some new AI machines there. So we'll see. Um and then we're probably going to go
37. 7:04play with some new tools. There's just a lot of stuff out. I don't know what's playable, meaning there there's new
38. 7:10things, but some of the things you have to have subscriptions for and everything's just gotten more complicated. So, I think we're just
39. 7:16going to go investigate tonight and then we'll play with stuff. I'm not developing. Well, you don't necessarily need to be a
40. 7:25developer to want local intelligence, right? the the biggest the biggest benefit is not so much cost or cost savings from the the big mo
41. 7:41models. Um but it's privacy. When you have a local model and you can do all of your you can run your agents using your local intelligence.
42. 7:52All of your data stays with you. None of it goes to the cloud. None of it goes anywhere unless you send it there. So,
43. 7:59so I think the the the benefit of this stuff is that more than more than the intelligence. But it it still blows my mind that you
44. 8:11can have machines that you can put in your household sitting on a desk with no big loud fans, just a quiet little box
45. 8:23about the size of a brain that is way smarter than we are. It's amazing. It is amazing. It's amazing.

55. 11:14Okay. Um, what else is going on today? OpenAI released their hugging face hack report today and people are saying it's scarier
56. 11:29than we thought. It might be scarier than we thought. Is there a model that can create decent vectors? You mean for for um for doing
57. 11:40your own uh like a vector database? there are open- source libraries and things for for doing vectorization.
58. 11:49Um, so yeah, a lot of that stuff you can do you can do locally. Like when I was running OpenClaw, the vector database
59. 11:57used like a it was like a I don't know two or four gigabyte. It was a fairly small model and it did pretty good.
60. 12:08So nice to see you do doing something analog. I do I do analog stuff all night. In fact, you know, stage hand,
61. 12:14one of the things that has been a theme that's been emerging for the past probably three months. Um, I first
62. 12:25started noticing this inside the the mastermind practice lab. So, the people doing daily practices around how they use AI,
63. 12:33scalable vectors for art. Oh, I don't know. I don't know what that means. In what context? You mean like
64. 12:42Loris? I don't I don't know what it I don't know what they are, so I can't actually answer it. Um, not AI, but the King's Guard playing
65. 12:529 to5 at Buckingham Palace was so awesome. Nice. That would interest me. Rasters, [laughter] raers, and vectors.
66. 13:07Uh but anyway, what I was saying was what I started noticing inside the the practice lab is that as people were getting more
67. 13:16sophisticated with their use of AI to a person, they were rediscovering things about their lives that were the
68. 13:28the the parts of their lives that were analog that they missed, that they really liked and they wanted to return
69. 13:36to um in fact I just talked to uh Bradley Perkins who used to be one of the in the leadership team of the AI
70. 13:44salon and uh he's discovered this too. He's been working in Argentina and Thailand. He's been working all over the
71. 13:51world doing the digital nomad thing and he's come to this conclusion that striking this balance between analog
72. 13:59work and AI work, digital work, um is where the secret sauce is, right? because when you do the analog work, you
73. 14:08tend if you're going to choose to do it, you're going to do it in areas that are close to your heart that are that are
74. 14:14more powerful for you. And so anyway, so that's that's something that I've I've been seeing a lot of. So yeah, so analog
75. 14:20stuff is the best. And like yeah, like a guitar
76. 14:39in a westerly. This car is my train. I've been driving. I've been wondering
77. 14:55what it is I'm running from again. Feel like an 80y old man holding on to 29. And up ahead on that horizon
78. 15:13is a California line. My E string where my B string's out.
79. 16:01What's disabled? Anything I need to pay attention to? Yes, raers and vectors. SVGs. I create them. Oh, and hoping to
80. 16:09find a model that can create them. I think chat GPT can do vectors. No. Can can't chat GPT do an SVG? Um, oh, but
81. 16:19you want them to be done well. Chat GBT. Um, make me an SVG of a penguin.
82. 16:36It's writing some Python, so that probably means it's going to suck.
83. 16:51>> [music] >> Well, what you could also potentially do um is just generate raster images in chat GPT and then take them into Illustrator
84. 17:06and convert them. That's always it's always a mess, but I did that with the logo for the great repurpose.
