15. 3:48content Evolution where we're exploring deep research tools so there's five of them now that I've identified then there
16. 3:57might be more but these are the five that I know chat GPT has a deep research tool perplexity has a deep research tool
17. 4:04Gemini has a deep research tool deep seek has a free a deep research tool and then Manis um is just an agent that just
18. 4:14[ __ ] goes Bonkers and goes and does a bunch of research so it's effectively deep research I think the definition of
19. 4:21deep research as far as I'm gathering it is search combined with reasoning and I don't think that Manis is actually
20. 4:30reasoning but Manis is using Claude to deploy 36 different tools so it's kind of a different thing but it's still pretty [ __ ]
21. 4:41impressive um but what here's one of the things I learned today um if you've got zero subject matter expertise in an
22. 4:53area like say research I'm shitty at research I don't know anything about it um when these deep research tools do what they
23. 5:04do I like I have no way of of analizing if it's any good or not so I was kind of struck today with how clueless I felt
24. 5:12again because it went off and did something that I had no way to evaluate so thought that was that was you know
25. 5:19what are you gonna do you learn you learn so I'm supposed to be leading this four-week Sprint to use uh deep research
26. 5:31so I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to have everyone do homework between the meetings and then just tell
27. 5:35us what they learned I think that's going to be the way to do [Music] it Source Camp okay I'm addicted to
28. 5:43Manis well you know it's [ __ ] up about Manis like I did my deep research thing today and it it generated all these
29. 5:51documents by the way if you didn't know this um Manis when Manis generates documents it saves them in MD format I
30. 6:01didn't know what that was MD format is markdown so they're basically just text files in markdown but I don't I don't
31. 6:10quite know how to get them from that into like when you copy and paste markdown into like Google Docs it just
32. 6:17does it as the raw text it doesn't reformat it so I'm trying to figure out how to do that so I went to have Manis generate the
33. 6:27um word docs which I'm sure can do and then it just said your context is too long and you've used up all your credits
34. 6:34for the day oh okay Brandon has two hacks for the MD thing great I must not have impressed them much with my
35. 6:41application what did you apply for [Music] archetypal put it in stack edit first it'll change

49. 10:14that we found in the AI life hacks Club oh nice look at this oh wait so AI life hacks go ahead and pop up the uh the AI

51. 10:33is a club called AI life hacks which which Brandon heads up uh with Claire but go ahead yeah so if you're in Google
52. 10:41Docs and you go to your tools bar and go down to preferences you've got this funny little option here that says
53. 10:51enable markdown oh why would they not default that uh I don't work for Google you have to ask uh but once you do that you have the
54. 11:03ability to rightclick and paste from markdown and then once you do that it recognizes and formats the markdown okay
55. 11:12so you have to you have to rightclick to paste you can't just paste it okay yep yeah right click and then paste from
56. 11:17markdown also Manis does give you the ability to download uh via PDF yeah that I that I saw the problem
57. 11:26with downloading with PDF is it's not easily editable so what I was trying to get it to do was default to I wonder I
58. 11:34bet in Manis if you said um you know put the output in Microsoft Word documents formatted Microsoft Word documents I bet
59. 11:42it would do that or even just you know format it okay cool beautiful love it happy Friday night date night thank you Brandon thank you for

73. 14:22tell us basically you just add things like double asterisks to make make you know something bold um quickly describe
74. 14:35markdown and when when chat GPT formats things it um it uses markdown yeah markdown files typically have an MD
75. 14:47extension so if you put one hashtag it's a heading if you put two hashtags it's heading to um double asterisk is bold
76. 14:57text things like that and then and then say um uh now describe that using rendered markdown so if you have a browser that
77. 15:11can understand markdown well no uh now render it so I can see how it formats or make an
78. 15:27example oh put yeah so see big heading heading one heading two bold text list item link to Google pretty slick so you can just say
79. 15:42you could say uh write me a report about lizards here's a report about lizards oh
80. 15:58I did did it in a it did it in a canvas very nice and so this this is all being done in markdown so you see how there's headings
81. 16:10here and it just automatically does the coding so there you go there you go there there there you [Music] go AI lizard lab

90. 18:17their voices and then it will help you outline the episodes write the copy of the ex episodes and then create the
91. 18:25audio of the episodes and publish your um podcasts oh and it looks like they added is this new Brandon that you can
92. 18:35automatically publish to Apple podcast and [ __ ] like that is that new yeah okay that's new because that
93. 18:44made sense that like it didn't make let's see oh upgrade oh you got to pay them money you got to pay them money if you

100. 20:23outline and then we're going to go find our images which were made by the lovely and talented Corey

468. 1:43:20and it's got it now for at least Plus members and it might might even have it one or two a month for free members but
469. 1:43:27I think it's just Plus members perplexity now has deep research Google Gemini has deep research you have to use an individual account
470. 1:43:37not a workg group account P can explain why um um deep seek has uh deep research although today um the search
471. 1:43:51functionality of deep seek seek was not working so I don't know if that was a temporary thing and then you've got the
472. 1:43:57Manis app which which is actually more like an agentic tool than just deep research but it can do really deep ass
473. 1:44:05research it's pretty amazing and then I included Claude here because Cloud's not connected to the internet so it can't do
474. 1:44:11deep research but it's really good at creating things like dashboards so if you do really interesting research
475. 1:44:18things you could take the results of that into Claude and make dashboards in in a powerful way the other thing that I
476. 1:44:26put into this document is the different modes of large language models and there's a lot of them now so
477. 1:44:34there's non- reasoning large language models like basic chat GPT you give it a prompt it gives you an answer chat GPT 4.5 is actually what I
478. 1:44:45would declare or describe as a high EQ model so a high uh emotional intelligence model um so if you're doing
479. 1:44:54something maybe with qualitative research or just with you want something that's slightly more human that's a
480. 1:45:00different kind of llm that we haven't really had before explicitly like that so that's worth playing with perplexity
481. 1:45:07is a weird kind of hybrid between search and a large language model um a lot of the other large language models now have
482. 1:45:14search as well but but that's kind of a distinct capability um then you have reasoning or deep thinking right and so a lot of
483. 1:45:23these things have that so that's that's just sort of a multi-step uh sort of thinking process before it gives you an answer and then
484. 1:45:32deep research combines reasoning with search um and you know produces these reports and then you then you've got a
485. 1:45:43gentic um something like Manis so um so anyway I just wanted to share that because in putting this document
486. 1:45:51together I was like it's there's there's a lot there so a thing that you could play with this weekend is just play with
487. 1:45:57some of the deep research tools you have access to to and just see what they do um because they're they're pretty
