Description

On June 3rd, I hosted an informal chat about AI to demystify generative models and share insights from my ongoing journey of learning. In this session, I discussed how today's AI breakthroughs feel remarkably similar to the early days of the World Wide Web in the 1990's. I reflected on the incredibly fast adoption of tools like ChatGPT, as well as the significant advancements still to come. Other topics included using AI as a co-pilot to augment human intelligence, the lack of true experts in the field, making custom chatbots, and much more. Although AI provokes anxiety in many, I aim to turn that anxiety into action by encouraging people to jump in and start experimenting. The future is coming whether we're ready or not. 2:11 - Parallels between birth of World Wide Web and rise of AI 4:20 - ChatGPT getting slower recently 6:09 - Google's new style transfer AI - StyleDrop 10:13 - Speed of AI adoption even faster than the web 16:21 - Using AI tools as "co-pilots" 23:36 - AI's potential impact bigger than the web or mobile phones 24:48 - We're at the "beginning of the beginning" with AI 32:38 - AI will be built into all creative tools 43:10 - Using chatGPT like a consultant to solve business problems 49:48 - Bosses need to embrace AI tools from employees 1:13:07 - AI's potential for scientific advancement 1:21:25 - Governments will likely struggle to regulate AI 1:31:27 - ChatGPT can help you code a website without programming 1:40:34 - No experts yet in AI, lots of learning happening 1:54:39 - Making custom chatbots with Poe 1:59:12 - Already working with models and codes for 3 years 2:00:01 - Google Bard not as good as GPT-4 for writing
