20. 4:44uh like like I think that these generative AI tools because they're because they're a balance of Art and
21. 4:54Technology I believe now more than ever as evidenced by this and I'll talk talk about that bear in particular which you
22. 5:02know in a little teeny window it doesn't look too bad but wait till you'll see what I compare it to thank you Danielle for doing that by the
23. 5:12way because it's I think it's a really good uh I don't know it's a good demonstration of just something is a
24. 5:22Miss with Google products and and you know what it is the people part it's like soilent green soilent green is
25. 5:33people the people are missing the humanity is missing from Google's products the fact that I as a paying member of
26. 5:44Google am told in a generic popup box that either I'm in a country that's not supported or I have an account type that's not
27. 5:56supported they couldn't take the time to program in oh you've got a Google workg group account you pay us this much a month
28. 6:07you're at this level of subscription level because of that you have to set special permissions in your account let me take you
29. 6:16there or let me give you the link to send your to your administrator or better yet I'll send it to your
30. 6:22administrator and say one of your users is trying to use our fancy new AI tools would you like to let them do that
31. 6:32how is that not being thought about it's the behavior of a company that's that's had a an effective Monopoly for 15 years
32. 6:43that's exactly what that is we don't need to worry about our customers they don't matter they'll C keep clicking on
33. 6:50[ __ ] it's okay keep engineering keep making features keep making technology oh AI open AI is kicking our
34. 7:00ass well we invented the [ __ ] go make technology what they're prioritizing is launch dates and not quality of
35. 7:16product it's amazing anyway if you don't know what I'm talking about Gemini Ultra launched today from Google the long
36. 7:23awaited super powerful version of um of what used to be barred and is now called Gemini which I think that's a good
37. 7:34move but boy is that a stinky piece of [ __ ] it is just a stinky nasty smear on your sneaker right before
38. 7:44you walk into the party piece of [ __ ] exactly like like Huey Lewis in the news is playing live at this party in your
39. 7:52honor and right before you step into the party you slide through some gooey [ __ ] but you have to go into the the party
40. 7:59cuz they know you just walked up to the door that's my metaphor for Gemini Ultra and you know it's funny like I
41. 8:14thought I might be disappointed but I didn't I I honest to God I did not think it would be like it's bad like it's it's like it's not
42. 8:26usable the quality of the images is bad but like 2/3 of the time it doesn't think it can make images so it it does
43. 8:34like a flowery description of an image I had it it it recommended I use Del once I tried to get it to make a logo it told me to go to
44. 8:47canva and and use it but Kyle don't don't we say it's all janky right now and will'll get better yeah Dr bod absolutely and If
45. 8:58This Were were Google's first product yeah I would agree with you if this was Google's second product I would agree with
46. 9:08you this is their third or fourth swing at the bat they they made this huge Splash in December that Gemini Ultra is as good or
47. 9:23better than chat gp4 according to all of these benchmarks scientific benchmarks and then when they were about
48. 9:33to launch it they found out it wasn't good in other languages so they delayed the launch for two months and it's still only available in
49. 9:44English they're still not doing foreign languages because apparently it's so bad at that and honest to God it's like did did
50. 9:53anyone [ __ ] test this thing like at one point I asked it to find YouTube links and it said it couldn't and then it said it could they
51. 10:03own [ __ ] YouTube If it should be able to do one thing well it's like slay being able to search YouTube
52. 10:11content and it can sort of do it but sort of not and like sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't and sometimes
53. 10:18it makes images and sometimes it doesn't and when it actually does what it's supposed to do it's decent like it's I haven't I like I've
54. 10:29only I've only played with it for a total of about an hour so I don't know if it's as good or better or as good or
55. 10:35equal to or just slightly lower than chat gp4 in terms of its quality but like just in terms of its consistency as a product like it's bad
56. 10:50complacency yeah exactly like it it it honest to God what it feels like there is not at Google right now is someone going a Steve Jobs

58. 11:14Twitter feed right now is when I go look at my generative AI stuff I must have followed someone that I I can't get it
59. 11:22to knock give me Chinese tweets I'm like okay I guess I could go translate them but it's like it's like 10 in a row all
60. 11:29the time I get like batches of them I don't know what the [ __ ] going on um but anyway look AI Salon

74. 13:49was too sweet so I didn't even finish the Manhattan so I am I am woefully under inebriated considering my intent at the party we're
75. 14:00going to start rating the lives on a scale of from chat GPT to Gemini Ultra there you go yeah it's it's you know to the question Dr bod
76. 14:17about like is it going to get better if it's a weird kind of bad it's a kind of
77. 14:34bad that I bet a lot of Engineers will look at and say well it's functional so it's fine it launched you can search stuff in it we
78. 14:44can run it through these tests and it hits these benchmarks and where it where it falls on its face is like the whole
79. 14:57experience like the user experience is overall like just dramatically worse than chat gp4 and I was expecting one of two
80. 15:10things I was expecting it to be as good as chat gp4 in its current state or it would have some unique new
81. 15:21interface that was like truly multimodal visual something different than just a chat chat box and it was just a chat box and it
82. 15:31sucked so so I thought I had tempered my expectations on this but I did not temper them enough it's bad like I don't
83. 15:40like I we can we'll go through it I can I'll I'll show it we'll we'll go look at it but it's a stinky piece of poo I had
84. 15:48Gemini Ultra kind of day I had an okay day had an okay day oh except I just realized there's something going on in
85. 15:59our app that's not technically a bug but it's horrible user experience and I can't believe it made it through testing
86. 16:06like I don't know how I missed it I must have missed a REV of our of our app or something like that in
87. 16:13testing and it's just atrocious I'm like [ __ ] not going to deal with that tomorrow but other than that the day was pretty good but

90. 16:46model natively on your PC I will not try Jan because hey I don't have a PC B uh I'm avoiding the open source world just

92. 17:06world and the the open source world as exciting as it is it's just like it's seriously like you install a model and 3

95. 17:28constantly chasing model updates and it's like I don't understand how the open source world gets any [ __ ] work

141. 25:36of the community that we launched in December so we're just like two two and a half months into this thing and we've
142. 25:42already cracked 1 th000 people it's a it's an amazing group of people and so if you go to the salon. that's going to take you to this

150. 26:53now make songs and now make movies and just keep throwing [ __ ] at the wall and inspiring one another and that's who this group
151. 27:05is ragtag group of Misfits Nero Wells and miscreant right cuz who wants to hear about AI right now no one perplexity and Pi out of 32 votes

153. 27:33GPT huh all right we we'll dig into perplexity and Pie I don't know perplexity super well the salon is

155. 27:54page and you read about who we are and what we're about I want you to pay very close attention to the values so a lot
156. 28:00of times when you hear organizations or companies talk about values they're kind of these Hollow things I talk if those
157. 28:08of you that come in here every night you know this you're like oh my God he's talking about the [ __ ] values again I
158. 28:15am because one of the things I learned so so I started a a company called agency.com in the mid 90s one of the
159. 28:23early digital agencies and we ended up growing to 2200 people in 5 years was [ __ ] insanity and one of the things I learned
160. 28:31in growing agency.com was that no matter how many times you think think you had said something there were people who had
161. 28:42never heard it had never heard it had never taken it in and in particular with values when you've got you know the AI Salon like
162. 28:55people are coming from all over the world they're coming from every profession they're coming from deep deep technology backgrounds to
163. 29:05no technical background at all like can barely use a computer but think AI is somehow important and now they're
164. 29:10curious about it or they made images and now all of a sudden they want to be an artist and it's amazing it's this amazing mashup of
165. 29:21humanity and it's a remarkable like I don't know that there's a lot of communities out there like this certainly not in the AI
166. 29:35space it's just a special group and so I want to retain that as we grow and so the the values become the the the values
167. 29:43I'm about to share with you are who this group already is this is not what we want to be this is who we already
168. 29:50are and so my request to you I'm going to go through these is just keep watching and oh my God he's talking
169. 29:58about values I'm going this is this is so boring this sounds like a corporate HR event good Lord yeah whatever I want
170. 30:06you to just you know listen to the values and if they resonate with you what that means is these are like likely
171. 30:12your people and if they don't if it sounds foreign and weird probably not your people so first value is curiosity we we
172. 30:21want people that are curious and interested in in figuring this stuff out second one is generos like as you figure stuff out share what
173. 30:30you're learning share how you did it share the prompt or the or the thinking that went into it or well I started in mid journey
174. 30:39and then it gave me this and then I had it describe the image and I took the description I put that oh okay cool
175. 30:45that's crazy let me try that oh my God that's amazing that's a right that's generosity like when you
176. 30:53join the group introduce yourself that's a generous act I made a new graphic for this one today cuz the word was too small
177. 31:03exploration we want people that are excited to try new things not just sitting on the sidelines not just like well I learned prompt
178. 31:12engineering and I'm done no get good at prompting and then get good at the next thing are you good at Real Time images yet
179. 31:23collaboration we want people that are willing to reach out and say hey you want to do something together
180. 31:28I'm good at this you're good at project management let's put on a show inclusion people coming from everywhere welcome them
181. 31:42in and use what is probably the most important value the most important skill over the next 10 or 20 years
182. 31:53empathy so much is going to be changing so fast that people are going to going to be freaked the [ __ ] [Applause]
183. 32:01out so rather than getting all bitter and angry why don't you find out where they're coming from understand why
184. 32:09they're afraid understand why they're angry understand why they think these things steal ask them what's behind that ask
185. 32:18them what they're doing is their job threatened did they just lose their job what's the fear and then ask them if they want to see something
186. 32:30cool and then here's the new one gratitude and I'll read this one because this is a new this is a new value we believe that gratitude is a
187. 32:44practice gratitude is not just a feeling but an action take the time to acknowledge the efforts support and
188. 32:51successes of the extraordinary people in this community especially if someone inspires you go out of your way to
189. 32:58acknowledge them tag them in your posts reach out and let them know they made a difference which is also an act of
190. 33:06generosity see gratitude was implicitly rolled into these other values and what we decided to do was say
191. 33:21let's not have it be implicit let's have it be explicit so there's seven values which feels like a good number I created a
192. 33:30children's calendar with coloring pages all with AI beautiful lovely and look at the name grateful that's
193. 33:38awesome great name 10 out of 10 on the name all right so that's the values of the salon so if that sounds cool to you you should

198. 34:17made in um Dolly 3 and some of the some of the text I did in Photoshop today like the Gratitude text I did in Photoshop
199. 34:27I could not for the life of God get it to spell gratitude right and I didn't feel like photoshopping it so I just was

201. 34:41Dolly and for the most part I don't mind typos I think typos are going to be a really interesting artifact from this
202. 34:48era because this time next year there will be no typos and images everything will be perfect or or close to it so so
203. 34:57enjoy the typos while we have them but if they're going to be the values of the organization and someone's coming here
204. 35:02new I'd like the values to be spelled correctly so call call call me a a a stickler for detail um so so go to the go to the

209. 35:54receiving a bill at the end of the month you'll need to purchase credits and use the API huh that's interesting uh I I I don't know if I did
210. 36:08two hours ago I haven't checked my email so it's possible um there's also in the community section there's also this
211. 36:15thing called AI tools and resources I updated this today so I personally maintain this part of the site and it's my renderings have already
212. 36:27improved in the last month alone with regards to typos yeah there there was um Dolly got got significantly better about
213. 36:37a month ago some something shifted about a month ago with Dolly text generation being better at spelling um hopefully
214. 36:44that continues like at some point what they need to do is generate an image use GPT Vision to look at the image and if
215. 36:53the if the word is missing or if the word is misspelled or or words then redo the image or do in painting and just
216. 37:01just redo the part of the image with where the words [ __ ] up like it this is a solvable problem so they'll they'll
217. 37:07solve that Gemini is number one now right yeah yeah it's number one um Bard still the best so why I put chat GPT at the top of

220. 37:42tools are perfect 0% of these tools are anywhere resembling perfect You could argue that no software is perfect but
221. 37:49all AI tools right now are juny pieces of [ __ ] that's just a fact and that's not that's not my opinion that's not Kyle's
222. 38:00opinion if you go to Wikipedia and you look up the entry for janky pieces of [ __ ] first first definition of janky pieces of [ __ ] all
223. 38:12gen generative AI tools as of February 8th 2024 it's first entry look it up look it up on chat GPT I promise you it's there
224. 38:29say chat gp4 not chat GPT why it's chat gp4 is implied um I've got both here so you can if you use the free chat GPT that's that's
225. 38:433.5 um I think that the $20 a month for chat GPT plus they call it which is chat GPT 4 is the best deal in software like
226. 38:54the value you get for that 20 bucks is insane and I personally think anyone who wants to get AI literate right now you
227. 39:02should get chat GPT plus and you should learn all of what it can do people don't know what's possible they don't know
228. 39:08what it can do and it's insane what it can do it's insane insane insane all right so then important large language models I added Gemini
229. 39:22Advanced said Google's Google's language model with diverse capabilities now powered by G Gemini Ultras 20 bucks a
230. 39:30month and and you cannot currently subscribe with a Google work group account that's my bitter commentary in there um it's worth it's
231. 39:44worth trying but I honest to God I don't think I don't think Gemini Advanced right now is worth 20 bucks a month I
232. 39:51don't work I don't think it's worth five bucks a month I'm going to keep paying for it because it's possible it gets much
233. 39:57better much faster than we think but I just I have low expectations there's perplexity there's co-pilot there's pie
234. 40:04grock llama 2 then there's a whole bunch of image generation tools I added one in here didn't I no I added one in video no
235. 40:12oh audio there's video creation tools there's music and audio I added I don't know if youall have seen Splash Pro I think I learned
236. 40:21about this in the salon someone in the salon posted this in Cool Tools or something like that add your favorite
237. 40:28tool um you can model your own singing voice and just like sunno it'll create a song with vocals but with Splash Pro you
238. 40:37can have the vocals be your singing so Corey Sandler I know I know you're a singer whoever's a a singer in
239. 40:45here um Splash Pro is worth a checkout you can do one model for free so that's all the that's all the

266. 45:18bear with magical rainbow crystal wings or like it doesn't matter what the prompt was but that's Dolly 3 right so
267. 45:25that's chat GPT beautiful subtle not quite photographic like like Dolly tends to have an illust illustrative um
268. 45:34Quality to it but really beautiful Reflections in the water the wings are really sophisticated with these little
269. 45:41crystals all over them really nice here's um co-pilot right notice it's Square because co-pilot can't do um
270. 45:50landscape images for for for the reason the programmers didn't program it that way see chat GPT programmers did so you
271. 45:58can get landscape wide images from them so again this is like this this just kind of like attention to detail in
272. 46:05product development Microsoft they're just letting it be square right so whatever but beautiful like
273. 46:12nice well done well rendered that's also Dolly 3 right the the rendering engine for this image is the same as this one
274. 46:20but what I would argue is that the way that chat GPT program Dolly 3 where it rewrites your prompts for you and it
275. 46:28does it in this really sophisticated way you get better images right so that's probably why that one's better than that
276. 46:34one then youve got Adobe Firefly which is okay Firefly because it wasn't trained on copywritten images it's just trained on uh public domain
277. 46:45images and and you know stock images that they they have access to it's not quite as sophisticated but it's still
278. 46:51decent right still good and then you have Bard or Gemini and it just it just looks like a sad bear like that was sort of
279. 47:08watercolor painted but it looks like like an angry parent just painted paint on on their fur and then like glued sort
280. 47:17of halfast fairy costume wings right into like it's just bad and you know and it's not bad on its own like if you look at on its own
281. 47:28you're like okay I guess but like if you compare it it's the same prompt generated that and that it's painful it's
282. 47:45painful and then you know listen you could argue well not everyone's going to do art and this these large language models aren't about
283. 47:54art right and that's exactly what an engineer would say did it make a bear with rainbow fairy wings

373. 1:06:07J and then I'll show you something here with chat GPT that that I think is one of the one of the secrets because the the the core technology
374. 1:06:18here is very very similar the difference is in how it's getting prompted and the difference is is what the training data
375. 1:06:27is that trains it the basic process of how it works is pretty similar across these

377. 1:06:58right so there's chat GPT there's your sunlight streaming through the window that's definitely a 70s muscle car it's kind of a hybrid
378. 1:07:07between a Mopar and a I don't know it's kind of all over the place with his body lines but you know it's definitely an abandoned Factory
379. 1:07:18lights streaming through broken windows um but here I want to show you something so if you click on this image
380. 1:07:26and you go to the upper right hand corner this is in chat GPT and you click on the little information button this is
381. 1:07:33the actual prompt that chat GPT sent to the image model a photograph depicting a a classic 1970s muscle car parked inside
382. 1:07:42an abandoned Factory the car should have a distinctive retro design with Sleek lines a shiny chrome bumper and an
383. 1:07:50iconic look that reflects the era its era the factory is dilapidated with crumbling walls rusted machinery and
384. 1:07:58debris scattered around indicating long-term neglect sunlight streams through the large broken windows of a
385. 1:08:04factory casting dramatic beams of light and creating contrast of Shadow and illumination on the car and the factory
386. 1:08:12floor the atmosphere is nostalgic and somewhat Eerie Capt right it goes on and on open AI took some put real thought
387. 1:08:25into let's assume that people are going to give us shitty prompts and if someone gives us a shitty prompt let's fix
388. 1:08:39it they're not asking you to do that it's not like prompt magic or prompt it just does it they just stick it in the
389. 1:08:47background and it tends to create highly coherent images and and images that tend to be better than what you expected now
390. 1:08:57if you if you teach yourself mid journey and you teach yourself all the prompting with mid Journey mid Journey from an
391. 1:09:03aesthetic standpoint kicks the [ __ ] out of do but it doesn't quite have this sense of magic where you put in minimal [ __ ]
392. 1:09:13and you get back something more than that it can like mid don't get me wrong mid Journey just consistently is is better than anything
393. 1:09:24out there in terms of image sophistication like Dolly images all have a DOL about them which is kind of a
394. 1:09:32dullness a flatness a an illustrative feel even the photographs kind of feel illustrative but this is good someone
