78. 15:26directly in your browser photo offers many features similar to photoshop and supports files I think i' rather than
79. 15:34learning Photoshop I think I should I should learn some some self-help like what what can I do to uh to to get better as a
80. 15:45human that's a great shift in Focus here are a few self-help practices that can contribute to personal growth
81. 15:54one got it to continue on that note self-help practice like mindfulness meditation and regular exercise can be transformative

89. 16:58reality it's about taking control of your mental and emotional states using techniques like neurolinguistic
90. 17:05programming NLP to change limiting beliefs yeah and what's and how does he do that like if I've got a limiting
91. 17:11belief coach me through um d d limiting that belief all right let's break it down Tony Robins style the first step is to
92. 17:23identify the limiting belief what's a belief you hold that's holding you back l once you've got it the next step is to
93. 17:31challenge it ask yourself is this belief based on facts or is it a perception I've accepted as true then you disrupt

167. 30:53to for example contribute to new science uh help right a lot more very difficult code that I think can drive from forward
168. 31:01to a significant degree so you should expect rapid Improvement in the O Ser of models and it's of great strategic
169. 31:09importance to us we do our job right all right oh wait uh then that will not be as important in the future if on the
170. 31:18other hand you build a company that benefits from the model getting better and better if you know an oracle told me today that oh
171. 31:284 was going to be just absolutely incredible and do all of these things that right now feel impossible and you
172. 31:35were happy about that then you know maybe we're wrong but at least that's what we're going for and if instead you
173. 31:42say okay there's this area where there are many but you pick one of the many areas where you underperforms and S patches just they get to
174. 31:51work then you're sort of assuming that the next turn of the model won't be as good as me yeah this is a big thing that
175. 31:58Sam talks about a lot which is um if if you're building a company around the shortcomings of AI today that's probably a stupid
176. 32:10move um if you don't know what Sam's talking about when he's talking about reasoning so let me flip over here to chat

181. 33:23something that's not just like an AGI with AGI we said well you have something it's kind of like a person kind of like a
182. 33:30coworker super intelligence is meant okay so when Ilia here is talking about AGI that stands for artificial general
183. 33:38intelligence so that's that's the point at which the AI becomes as good or better than most people at most
184. 33:46economically viable jobs right we're not there yet we're maybe at level two we're probably at more like level 1.5 of kind
185. 33:53of a five stage um definition of AGI that open AI put out um the bottom one is chat Bots the second one is reasoning
186. 34:03the third one is Agents the fourth one is innovators or inventors and the fifth one is organizations like imagine having a company of
187. 34:1310,000 PhD level workers working for you that's level five AGI we're not even close to that yet but the the tough
188. 34:21three are the first the first three the chat Bots we have reasoning we've got a crappy version of in 01 preview you and
189. 34:28then um agents are starting to to show up so these three are about to happen but what IL is saying here is Agi is
190. 34:37just kind of like the model is kind of like you have like really good co-workers working with you and then he
191. 34:44left open AI to start this company called safe super intelligence and so here he is talking about super
192. 34:53intelligence super intelligence is meant to convey something far more capable than that when you have such a
193. 34:59capability it's like can we even imagine how it will be but without question it's going to be unbelievably
194. 35:06powerful it could be used to solve incomprehensibly hard problems if it is used well if we navigate the challenges
195. 35:16that super intelligence POS poses we could we could radically improve the quality of life but the power of super intelligence
196. 35:26is so vast why did we so I find that absolutely flipp and fascinating that you know we're heading we're heading
197. 35:35to like we're not even at AGI yet and and Sam's basically saying don't underestimate us right and I would I
198. 35:43would say the same is true for Google for meta for anthropic um for all all the major uh for X certainly these tools
199. 35:53are going to get crazy good but that's just in the context of AGI so talking about these things like a really
200. 36:01intelligent coworker really capable coworker the super intelligence is like what Ilia just described is this is like
201. 36:11an entity like we've never seen before and that's that's kind of Bonkers right um all right so let's see Jeff is about two more

209. 37:25any of us can comprehend how fast it's coming um yeah Elon Musk today said within five years within you know one to two years
210. 37:35AGI within five year within three years after that ASI artificial super intelligence so we're going to we're
211. 37:42going to have five or six major entities that are going to have that level of of intelligence including um some open-
212. 37:53Source models right so um that's going to be absolutely Bonkers um Vicki I'm going to bed you can turn off LinkedIn

221. 39:59strangest things that I think happens is when people put a few bullet points into an llm have it generate a nice email
222. 40:05send it to somebody else and then they summarize it on the other end because we can't we just can't agree that you know
223. 40:11we just want the bullet points back and forth and there's still this societal nicity but someone is going to build probably
224. 40:19somebody already has built a first version of this like a great tool to write in a new way where you have this thing that is not you know
225. 40:30expanding your bullet points but is helping you discover new things in the idea space and that's awesome like
226. 40:37that's what computers do at their best right is they they help they are a tool that help you do things you otherwise
227. 40:43couldn't do yeah this is something that I I think about a lot that you know I've heard um I got a decent
228. 40:52argument in a in a public venue uh last week about the the person that came in said the the way llms work they cannot
229. 41:02produce new and novel ideas and I I vehemently disagree with him and what he was basically saying is that the llm can only um process data
230. 41:16that it's been trained on right and but it can't create new ideas and my argument is well how do you create new
231. 41:23ideas how do human beings create new ideas they learn it over years and years and years and they learn you know how
232. 41:31this particular author wrote and they learn these Concepts over here and they learn this and they learn that so
233. 41:35they've got some limited amount of knowledge in their Noggin and then at some point their Noggin smashes those ideas together and
234. 41:44out comes a novel thought and I think large language models are really good at that and particularly when you're in a creative
235. 41:53writing mental space the speed with which a lot large language model can smash ideas together even if if you
236. 42:00could prove that it can't come up with novel ideas which I don't buy I think it can um by Smashing ideas
237. 42:09together then the human being that sees those ideas getting smash together will come up with a new novel idea so anyway
238. 42:15so I I I think that's a really interesting idea from Sam um let's see what else is in here um how does Sam
239. 42:24use chat gbt how does become less Sam want dreamed of being a novelist I don't care lessons from Paul Graham the book
240. 42:31he wants to write advice for startup Founders writing strategy memos why isn't chat GPT a better Storyteller that's an interesting spot

244. 43:07because one thing that's important is you can rip Pages out frequently and you also want it to lie like flat and open
245. 43:13on the table and if you like open pages you want them to like you know like be able to lay like this whatever you
246. 43:19definitely want to be able to like rip Pages out I'm a big believer of like I take a bunch of notes and then I like
247. 43:25clearly like rip them out so I can look at mul Pages at the same time and I can like crumple them up and throw them on
248. 43:30the floor and I'm done like when our house cleaner comes in on like a you know whatever there's just these pile of

252. 43:59micro5 pen um is the best pen overall but the Muji Point 36 or 37 in dark blue ink is a very nice pen for other reasons
253. 44:10uh so those are the by the way I totally relate to to pen geeking to I would use but I think this kind of notebook and one of those two
254. 44:20pens is the right answer and how many notes you're writing per day on that thing uh I go through one of these like
255. 44:26every three three two or 3 weeks oh wow so you're taking a lot of well this you can see how much I've ripped out like
256. 44:31this used to have like 100 pag inors so that's how you think about it so you're going to basically take the notebook and
257. 44:36then you rip out the pages you don't have completed notebook I don't have completed notebooks wow what inspired
258. 44:41this where does this come from lots of trial and error uh many kinds of notebooks many pens many different
259. 44:46systems this one's really good another thing I've been thinking about when it comes to the influence of AGI on
260. 44:52Creative mediums is just the competence with the written word is going up so much and here's what I mean there's now
261. 44:59you know with Sora you can create videos using text as the you can do that with music you can do that with images and
262. 45:06that's a big change in terms of the influence on of writing on our world again for me like writing is a tool for
263. 45:14thinking most importantly and I don't think that's going anywhere so I think it's like it's really important that
264. 45:19people still learn to write for this reason in the same way that even if there's going to be like less traditional coding jobs coding is a
265. 45:26great way to learn a thing too you should still learn a code So when you say it's important that people learn to
266. 45:32write what does that mean Paul rer talks about that a lot so Paul rer from the marketing AI I marketing AI Institute
267. 45:40talks about writing as how he learns and how he thinks how he internalizes ideas um so yeah I'm I'm this is all
268. 45:50resonating what it means to me is that I've like figured out this tool to think more clearly now if there's a better way
269. 45:56to think more clearly with a i great I would switch to that definitely not found that yet a final question that we can close
270. 46:03with is there's just a lot of people out there who are saying that AI is going to kill writing and I so dis they're angry
271. 46:08about it about it and what do you make of that I don't see any evidence whatsoever that AI seems to be killing
272. 46:14writing I mean there's like a lot of bad AI writing like plastered over the Internet um and there's like a lot of
273. 46:20like bad student assignments that have probably been written by AI but I don't think anyone's serious I don't think
274. 46:27Paul Graham is sitting around being like AI is going to you know kill my writing here I think it would have to be like
275. 46:32full super intelligence before I was like okay this is going to replace human writing full stop and we have much
276. 46:41bigger issues to worry about at that point even if that happened um let's say we have a system that can write better
277. 46:46than a human uh do you think that the most popular novel of 2027 has a human name on it or not like a human writer on it or not I think yes
278. 47:00I think it does too when I finish a great book the first thing I go do is like I want to know about the writer I
279. 47:06want to know their life story and I don't think I'll ever have that feeling to like AI writing um that there's there
280. 47:13is something about you read an incredible book and you kind of you get connect to a person even though you
281. 47:21don't literally know them you feel like you do and you feel like you have this important shared Human Experience and
282. 47:25that is like some sign ific percentage of the enjoyment of a great book to me and I bet we keep doing that yeah I
283. 47:34would agree with that I you know when um it's it's one of the reasons why um there are still chess tournaments
284. 47:46right we we have ai systems now that we could just have ai systems play one another in chess and and you know the
285. 47:53chess games would get increasingly you know sophisticated ated and and challenging and but they're not it's not
286. 48:00fun to watch right we want to watch Magnus Carlson and see if he you know can really pull another one off um and I
287. 48:08think it's the same with writing and I think even if yay we did it brand Brandon Brandon's tears are are are you
288. 48:15know drying on his face now I think he's he's like okay we did it we did it we saw Sammy um and if the uh if the
289. 48:24interview from today comes out then uh then we we'll look at that one tomorrow but but I think I think writing is is a
290. 48:31similar sort of thing like even if if AI significantly augments a writer that writer is is still the one that's going
291. 48:43to put their name on it and put it in the world now there might be AIS that come up with pseudonyms and put
292. 48:47themselves in the world it might be hard for us to discern um different um different authors right we might we might think
293. 48:59that a person is behind a book and they're actually not it's it's a a virtual author so I think that's going
294. 49:05to be something we're going to have to deal with I think the whole idea of human identity human verification um does start to become
295. 49:13important uh as as new writers and personalities emerge in the world um but yeah but we're going to absolutely use these tools we're going
296. 49:25to absolutely use these tools I saw a Tik Tok today someone sent it to me um that was about these bands that are
297. 49:35fictitious bands and these musicians that are fictitious musicians you know putting out albums um and I think we're
298. 49:42going to see a lot of that I think I think at some point some you know someone's G to get get uh get famous and
299. 49:51then you know people are going to want them to tour and then realize ah they're not they're not real um you know again I think that I think
300. 50:00one of the things AI will do is increase the value of authentic human experiences um it might be crap though I
301. 50:10can't be objective about it I'm writing the story of the future I want to see that's kind of cool I feel I I very much
302. 50:19feel creative in collaborating with AI which is significantly augmenting my writing I I feel the same way I
303. 50:30the I go from like where I've been historically is I'll have an idea for something and and with my ADD
304. 50:45brain for for me to manifest something in the world it's got to be one of those ideas that is persistent right you know those
305. 50:53ideas that don't leave you alone they haunt you um that's that's something that I historically the ideas that I would
306. 51:04manifest in the world would be those it doesn't mean that the non-hunting ideas aren't good it's just sometimes in my
307. 51:11brain something sticks right um what I'm finding with AI is I'll have an idea and then I process it somehow with AI and
308. 51:22it'll spin up three more ideas and I'm like oh let me run down that Channel and then that'll spin up 10 more ideas and
309. 51:29so I'm finding that in a creative session with AI I'm exploring seven or eight or 10 ideas and within that I'm
310. 51:38either merging them and creating hybrid ideas or I'm coming up with you know new exciting you know I'm taking one of
311. 51:46those ideas that I never would have gotten to with a traditional approach and sometimes I use AI to exploit that
312. 51:53and sometimes I don't but it's like I never would have gotten there had not been on that path and that's that's what
313. 51:58I find exciting khaki fix Simmons squirrel exactly what AI does is it allows me to go squirrel and then manifest that idea
314. 52:07squirrel manifest that idea and then I can sit back and look at him and go oh that that's a shitty one but this squirrel idea is really
315. 52:15good it's really really fun significantly augmenting my writing is a little problematic for for writers I disagree with that I fundamentally
316. 52:30disagree with that Chris most most writing is the blocking and tackling of just getting the [ __ ] structure down
317. 52:40right it's not the Nuance in the refinement most writing is just the [ __ ] crap of I have this idea okay now I got
318. 52:50to come up with a structure now I got to put the ideas in the structure if I can get a AI to knock out the structure and
319. 52:57and even start to populate some of the structure and then I can go in and look at it I I'm still writing I'm Still The
320. 53:05One refining and and pulling those ideas and going no that's a crap idea let me swi switch these two things around so I
321. 53:13I completely disagree I just think it's a different way of writing I think it's a faster way to process the ideas and
322. 53:19get the low-level blocking and tackling of writing out of the way so I can either focus on High level ideation or
323. 53:27refinement and the [ __ ] in the middle is more like curation rather than plotting away [ __ ] writing word after word after word
324. 53:40so Chris that's how I feel when it rewrites my code I I mean listen I think that I think that the master Crafts People of this
325. 53:51world that have their identity tightly tied to the craft are going to have the biggest problem with AI for people that love
326. 54:03putting one word after the other and doing that great with ADD I don't have the [ __ ] brain for it I hate it that
327. 54:09that part of the writing process I despise I I'm the same way with coding I know how to code I'm a shitty coder
328. 54:17because I despise the detail of all the little [ __ ] nuggets I just want to do the high level skating right in the case
329. 54:25of words I can refine it in the case of code I can't but if I can get some code to just work good enough then that's
330. 54:31good enough for me but a master coder is not going to be happy with that they're going to want to refine that same with a
331. 54:37master writer and I so I think it's just going to be different brains will interact with these things differently
332. 54:43and I really do think this idea of the more attached you are to the craft of a single discipline the rougher this transition is going to
333. 54:53be um my story emerged through telling AI telling it to AI over and over that's pretty fascinating um khaki Fitz Simmons yes and it takes
334. 55:08time manually without a tool that can be daunting yeah exactly I agree with that Kyle I gave 401 save the cat and it
335. 55:18flipped to hero's journey and drastically unblocked and improved my drafted screenplay outline I I'll tell
336. 55:25you what the the thing that I think that these things are the best at is sort of analyzing and and organizing and you
337. 55:36know if you've got some semblance of an idea and you say I want five different storytelling Frameworks it knows them
338. 55:43all and it can populate five different storytelling Frameworks with your idea and then you as a human can go look at
339. 55:50that [ __ ] and go oh this this is the direction I want to go I like I find that fascinating how about I don't even know what that means
340. 56:05Monty all right I think that kind of mindset is why many people fear to dance or sing they think that there's a
341. 56:13correct way to do it and they don't want to do it badly yeah I I I wouldn't disagree with that I had an image in my
342. 56:21head that I wanted to paint I described it to Google in detail it created it and then I painted it on canvas incredible
343. 56:28that's the thing Cara so you know someone someone I mean my wife's an artist I know a lot of artists and from the outside they look
344. 56:41at Ai and they're like I just it you know it just vomits out work like even if they understand the Nuance that it's
345. 56:46not copying and pasting art even if they understand it's generating art there's something about the speed with which it
346. 56:53generates that art that that devalues it in some people's minds and what I would argue is you had an image in your head you wanted to paint
347. 57:03it you were able to visualize that within seconds and then that allowed you to have a a point of reference of the
348. 57:10thing you wanted to see in the world and express that in a different way I don't see anything wrong with that at all I
349. 57:17find that really exciting I'm trying to write in a way that actively avoids the standard drives the story structure it seems more
350. 57:28interesting to me but maybe it sucks but I mean you know what's fascinating archetypal architect here's a thing to
351. 57:33try if you haven't tried it is have the AI ask the AI um what are some successful novels or screenplays or
352. 57:49stories that you know are in the world where conflict doesn't Drive the story and then once it tells you them tell it to
353. 58:00analyze all those stories and break down the structure and give you ideas for your story and you could even have it
354. 58:07analyze your story against those successful stories where conflict doesn't drive the action um these people are the bane of
355. 58:15my existence it's too fast oh I exactly I know that there's something I I think we are all going to have to confront
356. 58:26front the speed that these tools work right like one of the one of the areas I get completely overwhelmed with with
357. 58:35with AI is it gives me too many options right the curation part of it is hard because there's so much coming at me but
358. 58:43I'm the one driving it I'm the one saying give me more ideas give me more ideas and I'll run down a rabbit hole
359. 58:48and sometimes I like the rabbit hole better than I like the main thread and then I'm kind of in this you know state

361. 59:02words and I use AI as a producer who can provide alternative music ideas that's [ __ ] perfect right I mean like like
362. 59:11with music production in general you know when you talk to musical Geniuses they're like oh okay well we could take

364. 59:2464 no let's do it in two three you know what let's do it in in the big two right and they're saying all these terms and
365. 59:32like if if they share an example with you you're like oh that's what that means but if your brain if you're not encyclopedic
366. 59:44musically but you know what you like you've got good musical taste then soono what it allows you to do is just
367. 59:53describe [ __ ] randomly okay give give me some Electronica with folk okay that I don't know how that would be and then it
368. 1:00:00does something you're like oh that's kind of cool or maybe it rewrites a prompt or maybe you have chat GPT write
369. 1:00:06the prompts and it's writing things with musical terms you may not understand how to produce musically butso
370. 1:00:14does and then you listen to 10 12 you know 50 versions of a song idea and there's going to be one in there that
371. 1:00:23just is like Bang that's me I'll I'll sh I'll share something with you
372. 1:00:40um some of you have seen this before so this is these are all the images I made for um in in the fall of
373. 1:00:492022 I was super into okay World Series update top of the 9th LA Dodgers one out guy in first and second leading 7 to six
374. 1:01:03okay so I figured out how to install stable diffusion after nine failed attempts I figured out how to use this thing called
375. 1:01:12dream Booth to do these these funny kind of self-portraits of me um this one ended up becoming uh the Genesis image
376. 1:01:21so this was the very first image I posted in um in my Instagram Kyle Shannon dreams account and I wrote a little story for
377. 1:01:30this guy like part of what this project did was it it it inspired me like um like I felt like I was living
378. 1:01:40vicariously through these characters I was creating and I'm like I want to know this guy's story and so that's what I
379. 1:01:46wrote on Instagram so if you go to instagram.com KY Shannon dreams or Tik tok.com KY Shannon dreams you'll see a
380. 1:01:54bunch of these images and the stories that I wrot but I made I don't know I must have made 10,000 of these images and the ones that
381. 1:02:02are in here are the ones that I thought were you know worth hanging on to but there's one image in here that blew my
382. 1:02:13mind let me see if I can find it I mean some of them are just funny like some of them are just like that
383. 1:02:21one's just crazy it's you know these are all like me but not me you know they're like they're just so [Laughter]

390. 1:03:55are using AI is the thing that remains intact is their taste right their discernment their creative point of view
391. 1:04:06what AI does is it vomits out ideas like thousands and thousands of ideas right like all these ideas Bam Bam vomit vomit
392. 1:04:14vomit and some of them are funny right like you know here it gave me some ample bosoms that's [ __ ] hilarious great
393. 1:04:21right you know um you know this one's fascinating and weird and creepy um you know here I am the you know the
394. 1:04:30Cabbage empresario of Wisconsin I think is is what I what I gave him but then when it does something that
395. 1:04:39is like 100% in line with who you are creatively that's when you realize that that there's something there can be
396. 1:04:48something Transcendent about AI if you allow yourself to just be in that place where when it generates something that's
397. 1:04:57in line with who you are you go that's a thing I want to put in the world right and that's the like the art art is
398. 1:05:08essentially when the artist stops and says this is good enough to put in the world if you haven't read the Rick Rubin
399. 1:05:15book on creativity and and how he goes about music production I mean it's it's all he doesn't know music production he doesn't know music
400. 1:05:26music people hire him because of his taste and that ultimately is the people that you want to work with are people that have good
401. 1:05:39taste because the Tactical execution of all this stuff is going to happen by the tools but but why do I choose this image

464. 1:17:43mindfully create and then generously lead is like Learn out Loud tell people what you're doing tell people what's
465. 1:17:50working what's not share how you do what you're doing because it's we're we're moving into a world of infinite content
466. 1:17:58generation where it's going to be infinitely easy to create stuff and to come up with ideas so the preciousness
467. 1:18:05of feeling like you have to hoard your ideas let that [ __ ] go because things are moving too fast to be able
468. 1:18:14to sustain yourself in that world people are going to just sort of blow your doors off just blow by you so anyway
469. 1:18:21that's what this community is all about um there's a simple little seven-step onboarding process here just walk
470. 1:18:27yourself through that and then you know we've got you know about the community we've got a news area the showand tell
471. 1:18:34areas are where you can go show off your you know latest images and things like that um but also every one of these has
