1. 0:00In 2017, Google introduces the transformer. In 2018, OpenAI figures out that the more processors you throw at
2. 0:10this thing, the better it gets. They do GPT1. The next year or the year after that, they do GPT2. And then in 2020,
3. 0:19they do GPT3. GPT3 for the first time starts to look like, huh, we've got us something here. And it it was at that
4. 0:28point that all of the computer companies, including Google, went, "Oh we should look at this." And what
5. 0:34they all realized is the more GPUs we throw at this transformer model, the better this thing gets. And so they're
6. 0:41making projections to say if this thing keeps getting better, whoever gets there first is going to be able to create
7. 0:49effectively unlimited prosperity. And if they can create unlimited prosperity, we all actually benefit. But
8. 0:58then what it starts to look like is that starts to look like a a uh a utility. It starts to look like a commodity like
9. 1:06electricity where it's in the interest of our society to have enough compute just like it's in the interest of our
10. 1:13soci society to have enough electricity and to have clean water. It's going to be in the in the interest
11. 1:19of our society to have enough compute where we all get to do all of the AI stuff we want to do. So that's where it's headed.
