0:00 In 2017, Google introduces the
0:04 transformer. In 2018, OpenAI figures out
0:08 that the more processors you throw at
0:10 this thing, the better it gets. They do
0:13 GPT1. The next year or the year after
0:16 that, they do GPT2. And then in 2020,
0:19 they do GPT3. GPT3 for the first time
0:23 starts to look like, huh, we've got us
0:26 something here. And it it was at that
0:29 point that all of the computer
0:30 companies, including Google, went, "Oh
0:32 we should look at this." And what
0:35 they all realized is the more GPUs we
0:38 throw at this transformer model, the
0:40 better this thing gets. And so they're
0:42 making projections to say if this thing
0:44 keeps getting better, whoever gets there
0:46 first is going to be able to create
0:50 effectively unlimited prosperity.
0:54 And if they can create unlimited
0:56 prosperity, we all actually benefit. But
0:58 then what it starts to look like is that
1:00 starts to look like a a uh a utility. It
1:05 starts to look like a commodity like
1:07 electricity where it's in the interest
1:09 of our society to have enough compute
1:12 just like it's in the interest of our
1:14 soci society to have enough electricity
1:16 and to have clean water.
1:18 It's going to be in the in the interest
1:20 of our society to have enough compute
1:22 where we all get to do all of the AI
1:25 stuff we want to do. So that's where
1:27 it's headed.
