1:39 hello music makes us smile doesn't it
1:41 though I like music music is nice come
1:44 on we know the robot overlords have
1:46 replaced you with a clone I do not know
1:48 what you mean that's
1:51 funny Elo
1:56 Elo back to the Charter right okay
2:02 oh yeah cool glasses all right how many
2:05 people we got in here we got 66 we got
2:06 some people back all right welcome we
2:09 we'll let people stumble on in abduction
2:11 oh we'll never know will
2:14 we
2:15 um well what what was I saying about uh
2:18 the technology before nonprofit roots in
2:21 Tech govern governance Evolution tech
2:24 tech for good future
2:29 implications
2:34 let's ask chat
2:36 GPT
2:39 um is there a more
2:44 detailed publicly
2:47 accessible structure
2:52 of the open AI nonprofit and capped
2:56 profit entity that you can analyze as
2:59 well
3:02 let's see if there's anything out there
3:03 on
3:04 internets someone told me they can make
3:06 a profit as a nonprofit I forget what
3:08 it's called well they can so what
3:11 they've so the the
3:13 nonprofit wholly owns the
3:15 for-profit the for-profit is a capped
3:18 for-profit
3:20 meaning that once an investor makes back
3:24 100x I think 100x is the cap once they
3:27 make back 100x of what they invested and
3:30 of that money goes back to the nonprofit
3:33 for the benefit of
3:35 humanity are you a paid spokesman for
3:37 Comcast I am listen I love exfinity so
3:41 much exfinity you know it's the future
3:44 it's the future so what we have is we
3:47 have a wire that comes into our house
3:49 and then it goes through a mouse nest
3:51 and it goes back out of the house into a
3:53 squirrel's Nest it runs down into a
3:55 gutter where a family of raccoons live
3:58 and then it comes into the router
4:01 and even through all of that it's just
4:03 this is how magically good Xfinity is it
4:06 is just I'll tell you what it's like
4:09 butter you know it's like I like have
4:11 you ever had a butter biscuit oh my God
4:13 I love butter biscuits so good you a
4:15 little bit of a drizzle a honey on a
4:16 butter biscuit oh my God so uh Comcast
4:19 Xfinity is just like that it's just like
4:21 a good old butter biscuit and you and
4:24 you just you put it it melts in your
4:26 mouth I'll tell you what though
4:27 sometimes it does give me the
4:28 indigestion that's I I'll tell you a
4:31 little secret I keep a little Pepto
4:33 bismo right in the cabinet right next to
4:34 where I get the butter biscuits it's so
4:36 good it's so good I eat them I I know
4:38 they're going to give me the upset I
4:40 know they're going to give oh I'm a
4:41 little gassy right now I just probably
4:43 is that too much information you
4:45 probably don't want to hear about that
4:47 oh but I love a butter biscuit just like
4:49 I love Xfinity from Comcast it is just
4:52 like butter and gas well not I mean it's
4:56 yeah all right then fantastic Bob tell
4:59 him what he's won
5:02 the open AI
5:05 structure combines a nonprofit org with
5:08 a capped profit arm this model was
5:10 created to ensure open ai's mission to
5:12 develop safe and universally beneficial
5:15 artificial general intelligence is not
5:18 comp compromised by profit motives you
5:21 know this is one of the things that I
5:22 have never quite understood is that Elon
5:26 Musk categorize you know just uh like
5:29 talk about this oh they wenten
5:31 for-profit and like everyone talks about
5:33 oh it's for-profit now so it's all
5:35 [ __ ] well yeah but it's it's it's a
5:38 really unique structure like not enough
5:40 I guess you know what it is we're in
5:42 America well I'm in
5:44 America and in America we don't like
5:47 subtlety we like we like butter biscuits
5:50 and trucks like we like it simple and so
5:54 if it's for profit it's evil and if it's
5:57 not for profit it's good you know
6:00 completely discounting the fact that not
6:01 for-profits can be
6:05 corrupt so so yeah so anyway the
6:08 for-profit subsidiary is fully
6:10 controlled by the
6:12 nonprofit I'm let's ask it
6:16 um what is the capped ratio period how
6:21 much can an investor make before the
6:24 profit goes back into the nonprofit
6:28 entity
6:31 [Laughter]
6:35 Matt wolf just posted what really
6:37 happened at open AI let's go look at
6:39 that did he do it in a
6:41 video because if he did it in a video
6:43 he's probably just reading off Twitter
6:45 posts knowing knowing Matt Wolf's stuff
6:48 or did he post it
6:49 on the
6:52 Twitter like is it
6:58 sourced I did a quick search and here's
7:00 what I found under open AI capped profit
7:02 yeah the returns for investors are
7:04 limited to a 100 times their initial
7:07 investment the model is to align which
7:10 not for nothing 100x on your investment
7:12 is not
7:14 bad so you know for the 10 billion
7:17 dollar that's a
7:21 lot YouTube yeah it's we can go look at
7:24 his thing I'm guessing it's not going to
7:27 be anything new um Matt
7:32 uh uh uh
7:40 wolf what really happened it open
7:45 thei this
7:48 game you're not ready we are seriously
7:51 witnessing the craziest Silicon Valley
7:54 soap opera we've ever seen yeah he's
7:57 show he's showing all the tweets that
7:58 that we've already looked at ton tonight
8:01 let me let me let me go to the end here
8:02 and see if there's anything
8:04 new our research plan our safety and
8:06 Alignment work particularly open AI
8:09 board is now in discussion with Sam
8:11 Alman okay yeah this is all stuff we
8:14 know the
8:15 board that is all stuff we already know
8:18 people we already know it we're ahead
8:20 we're ahead of the game we're looking at
8:22 this stuff in real time just make gp5
8:24 the
8:25 board yeah not a bad
8:28 idea Ethan mullock my vote for the
8:31 equivalent of the bomber with
8:44 bullet thei AGI has been achieved
8:49 internally this is Matt
8:54 myess and Ilia hit the panic button in
8:57 stage a coup evidence on 106 Elia tweets
9:02 if you value intelligence above all
9:05 other human quality you're going to have
9:07 a bad
9:11 time 1016 at Apec s proclaims four times
9:16 in the history we talked about
9:19 that that's it okay yeah this is this is
9:24 all just re rehashing
9:28 news
9:31 to be honest having gp4 Claude 2 and
9:34 grock as board members would probably
9:36 outperform 99.9 % of the boards out
9:39 there it's probably
9:40 [Laughter]
9:43 true New York City commercial real
9:45 estate meltdown begins you can get all
9:47 the news here in the AI learning
9:50 lab I lost all respect for Ilia after
9:53 this listen if if this is indeed if they
9:58 did hit AGI and CU Ilia would be the one
10:01 that knows
10:03 that and and if it and if it really did
10:06 come down
10:07 to Sam's like we got to get it in the
10:10 world and Elie is like we can't put it
10:12 in the world like that's a that's an
10:15 existential the thing that happened
10:17 yesterday was so immediate and so
10:21 awkward and so unthought
10:23 Out and because it wasn't something like
10:26 some weird sex scandal or something
10:28 where you could point to it like
10:30 like there's no obvious thing that
10:33 happened then it it it you know then
10:37 like it could be plausible that they
10:39 they hit something where Elia felt that
10:43 you know we got to slow Sam down he
10:45 can't he can't go raise this hundred
10:47 billion dollar because if he does we're
10:49 going to build the machine that can take
10:51 this technology and and put it out in
10:53 the
10:58 world
11:14 so so the joke here my girlfriend just
11:16 texted me this [ __ ] hey need to talk
11:18 could you jump into this Google meet in
11:20 the next 10 minutes that's that's what
11:22 uh Greg Brockman got they well I think
11:25 both both Sam Alman and Greg Brock
11:28 Brockman got got this which it was
11:31 pretty funny if you're looking at the
11:32 the tweets the fact that Microsoft's a
11:34 49% owner of open Ai and they use Google
11:37 meet everyone lost their mind over that
11:40 that's really
11:42 funny oh man crazy crazy
11:47 crazy there's some more neotokyo
11:52 stuff wow wow wow wow wow
11:55 people is that
11:58 no
12:02 there they are it's like washing the
12:04 Kardashian but for
12:09 geeks there's Myra that's Sam there's
12:13 Greg Brockman and there's Elia it's the
12:16 whole
12:18 crew
12:19 [Laughter]
12:21 yikes wow wow wow wow people all right I
12:26 love how one or two people have The Moxy
12:28 to slow down progress for the rest of us
12:31 yeah well again it
12:36 see as shittily as it was
12:39 done I would like to know the full story
12:42 because if it really if it really is
12:44 that they've hit AGI and elely is
12:47 freaking out I'll give him some level of
12:51 pass cuz it's pretty intense like we
12:54 we're not supposed to hit it for like a
12:55 decade and then it was like well maybe
12:57 in five years and now it's like oh maybe
12:58 it's here quick question will we
13:01 have what we have accomplished tonight
13:05 with any of this
13:07 speculation oh what have we accomplished
13:10 tonight is it just for fun yeah this is
13:12 just for
13:13 fun I don't give a [ __ ] like until until
13:17 um you know until some actual news comes
13:20 out nothing's nothing but but I if if uh
13:25 so so let's let's let's say that um the
13:29 employees did stage the the coup the the
13:33 employees said if if the board doesn't
13:35 resign we're going to leave and then the
13:37 board says okay we'll resign and then
13:39 they say well why don't we actually go
13:41 into the negotiating room and see what
13:43 that actually looks like and let's bring
13:44 Sam back and what's so what they're
13:47 likely doing right now now if any of
13:49 this [ __ ] is true is they're probably
13:51 just in there with a pile of lawyers
13:53 including Microsoft lawyers open AI
13:56 lawyers Sam Altman's lawyers Greg
13:57 brockman's lawyers probably lawyers from
14:00 all the investors like it's probably a
14:02 good 30 or 40 person screaming [ __ ]
14:06 right now um and you know and then
14:10 they're going to come out of it and then
14:12 we'll know and and and we'll see over
14:15 time I mean this is such a public thing
14:17 that they're going to have to say what
14:19 happened they're going to have to say
14:20 what happened at some point so yeah this
14:22 is just for fun we're just [ __ ]
14:24 around
14:26 here pow pop boom two new found ERS
14:29 influencers join neotokyo so these are
14:31 the these are the
14:34 uh these are the neotokyo citizens
14:37 that's one of
14:45 them all right all right
14:49 people wow wow wow wow can't stop
14:54 progress so the employees will have Sam
14:57 back or they go off and do it on their
14:58 own absolutely
15:05 absolutely they developed AGI get
15:08 pressured to release it and then gets
15:11 fired and his team
15:18 [Music]
15:22 quits very diverse
15:25 photo the memes are awesome today
15:29 yeah the memes have been pretty good hey
15:32 hey hey a human being what's
15:34 happening make the board eat the [ __ ]
15:37 sandwich they deserve yeah they I mean
15:39 listen this this was clearly not an
15:42 experienced
15:44 commercial you know commercially viable
15:51 board I mean it's got to be a trip being
15:54 part of a company that was flying under
15:56 the radar for so long and then they they
15:59 released gpt3 in
16:02 2020 and that makes a little bit of
16:05 noise and then in
16:08 2022 mid journey and stable diffusion
16:11 make more noise because the images kind
16:13 of take over and then they release and
16:17 then Microsoft invests a billion they
16:19 release chat GPT it gets a million users
16:22 in 5
16:23 days sometime 3 weeks or so after they
16:27 invest a billion Microsoft invest 10
16:29 billion and then 6 weeks later they hit
16:31 100 million users fastest adoption of
16:34 technology in history that sequence from
16:36 November 30th to mid January 22 and
16:42 23 that sequence is what changed
16:45 everything because it had they launched
16:47 chat GPT and no one gave a [ __ ] if they
16:51 got a million users over
16:54 20123 they have a decent
16:57 valuation but that's not what happened
17:00 so we're this is we're just in a
17:02 different place all the money all the
17:04 investment all the tech companies
17:06 everyone has shifted all of their focus
17:08 to AI because of this
17:10 stuff full government com disclosure of
17:14 uaps announced roll out I'm not saying
17:17 it's connected but so wait Sam thank you
17:20 Joe mama I love that one that's my
17:22 favorite filter I think that one and
17:23 there's sherbear always does this one
17:25 with dangly lights down here I love that
17:27 one too um
17:33 what if one of the viewers is an AGI
17:34 just walk Sam and start a new one I you
17:37 know I don't know about that well I mean
17:39 listen Sam can
17:42 absolutely write his own ticket right
17:44 now Sam has got all of the leverage he's
17:46 Sam's got more leverage right now than
17:49 probably any entrepreneur in
17:54 history it's it
17:57 is staggering the amount of Leverage he
18:00 has right now he can literally do what
18:02 he
18:06 wants
18:09 so I guarantee you if he's going back to
18:12 open AI one of the reasons we haven't
18:15 heard anything in an hour or two is
18:17 they're in there negotiating how this
18:20 never [ __ ] happens
18:23 again those lawyers that's why I don't
18:26 practice anymore exactly herir girl geek
18:29 yeah I know
18:36 um full government
18:39 disclosure announced roll out was
18:43 Barbara was that full government
18:46 disclosure announcement
18:49 today or was that the one that was
18:51 announced like they they announced that
18:53 like two months ago that one or is there
18:55 something new that I missed as well I'm
18:57 missing all sorts of [ __ ] today
18:59 apparently what time is it I got to go
19:01 here when did I say I'd pick up my kids
19:03 9:45 I think I said
19:06 9:45 so I got about a half hour to get
19:08 up there I gotta go people I got I got I
19:12 got children to pick up at a [ __ ]
19:14 Thanksgiving party how about 9:45 all
19:17 right I'll go for another 15 minutes
19:19 here we'll hang out for another 15
19:22 minutes so cuz I got to go I got to go
19:24 to Boulder I got to go to where am I
19:26 going Lafayette I don't know somewhere
19:29 up there toward Boulder I got to go
19:31 there then I got to come back and I got
19:33 back in time for the F1 race then we got
19:35 to watch the F1
19:42 race all
19:47 right Alman is not an engineer or
19:50 scientist no that's why that's why El is
19:53 freaking out
19:55 because this past week thank you l
20:00 Rivera Greg Brockman and Alman were in
20:03 the Middle East trying to raise hundred
20:05 billion doll and they were probably
20:07 doing
20:08 it which is probably why Elia freaked
20:14 out be careful driving thank
20:19 you oh
20:21 man hopefully he has better attorneys
20:23 next time
20:27 seriously
20:32 Boulder Lafayette haha I live in
20:34 Longmont oh that's awes awesome Grace
20:36 that's fantastic yeah I live in Denver I
20:38 live in North Denver you should join the
20:40 oh so so for folks
20:44 here
20:46 um if anyone's in
20:50 Colorado um I talked about this earlier
20:52 but I know there's a bunch of new people
20:54 here um this channel is is kind of an
20:57 extension of a a larger Community I
20:59 started called the AI Salon we meet
21:02 every other week here in Denver so and
21:05 we also meet remotely so if you don't
21:06 want to drive down from Longmont um but
21:09 go to the salon. we've got a Discord
21:12 server uh we're about to launch a mighty
21:14 Network server that's going to replace
21:15 some of the Discord stuff but you can go
21:17 join the Discord server now we have
21:19 guilds so so there's a beginner's Guild
21:22 there's a writing Guild there's an Art
21:23 Guild Pate runs a mechanics Guild if you
21:26 want to talk about geeky [ __ ] um there's
21:29 uh there's business guilds entrepreneur
21:31 guilds um we're adding a video Guild
21:34 we've got a healthc care Guild so
21:36 there's there's a bunch of different
21:38 subcommunities within it um go to the
21:41 salon. check out the first document that
21:43 talks about who we are and what our
21:46 values are things like curiosity and
21:48 exploration and generosity and inclusion
21:51 and empathy um so make sure you resonate
21:55 with the values if you resonate with
21:56 them hang come hang out with us and and
21:59 be cool and generous and let's learn
22:01 [ __ ] together and collaborate together
22:04 um so anyway that's what that is uh
22:06 couple other things um
22:10 uh please if you'd be willing follow the
22:13 channel also I just created um a series
22:17 Tik Tok now allows me to create curated
22:19 series of videos so I created my first
22:21 one called underhyped which is sort of a
22:25 general primer on AI so if you're new to
22:28 AI or if you're in business and you're
22:29 trying to figure out like is this just
22:31 all hype or [ __ ] I think it's
22:33 underhyped and and that's a collection
22:35 of videos I've done over the past year
22:37 that talk about all sorts of things
22:38 about AI like how does it compare to the
22:41 early days of the worldwide web and and
22:44 you know how do you use it how do you
22:45 prompt it how do you not get overwhelmed
22:47 by it so it's it's a pretty neat thing
22:49 so somewhere on the interface now is a
22:51 link to the to the
22:53 series I don't know where it is on the
22:56 interface and I think my interface is
22:58 different than years but if that's
23:00 something that'd be interesting to you
23:01 it's it supports the channel if you end
23:03 up doing that
23:17 um which is
23:20 why medium human is okay MVP let's build
23:24 something better this is Sam's Obi-Wan
23:27 Kenobi moment it totally is totally is
23:31 yesterday it's new well Barbara if we're
23:35 going to I no I I do think it's
23:37 coincidence that they're that they I
23:39 mean they've been [ __ ] around with
23:41 announcing like who announced that there
23:43 was going to be a
23:44 UAP um disclosure
23:48 yesterday was it was it like some like
23:51 the wacko that put over whatever the
23:53 last Congressional hearing was where the
23:55 people were like I've definitely seen
23:57 space ship no they were like I've
24:00 definitely talked to a guy that's seen
24:02 spaceships I'm like does anyone have any
24:05 evidence oh there's evidence it's in a I
24:07 left it in my other briefcase it's in
24:09 the other briefcase but it's oh there
24:11 was a lot of the they had the big eyes
24:14 with the the little and the they and
24:16 they the spindly little hands that's
24:19 with in the the with the the three seats
24:24 like I got the tester's model of should
24:27 I still use
24:28 should I still major in computer science
24:30 with GPT 5 around the
24:34 [Laughter]
24:41 corner uh janoi
24:44 Masters that is your call I would
24:48 say I don't know where you are in the
24:50 process if you've got a year left finish
24:53 it if you're a
24:57 freshman
24:59 if you're somewhere in
25:01 between that's it's a toin TOS coin toss
25:04 I would um first of all I would say
25:10 um does is your school leaning in
25:13 heavily to understanding AI are your
25:16 professors leaning in heavily into it if
25:18 they're not I would take everything
25:21 they're teaching with a grain of salt
25:22 and I if I were you and you've got
25:25 technical chops in any way I'd go go
25:28 um join all of David Shapiro's open-
25:31 Source projects uh go start playing
25:33 around Lang chain go start playing
25:35 around with GPT for all and and the
25:38 autonomous agents and all the open-
25:40 source large language models I would
25:42 just go
25:45 fullon just do self- immersion into all
25:49 this AI stuff I would join you know go
25:51 to redit and hang out go join all the
25:54 open- source
25:55 projects and just [ __ ] work just just
25:59 I would go balls to the
26:02 wall on you know teaching your stuff
26:05 that because so then so because then
26:08 what you do is you graduate with a
26:10 computer science degree which is going
26:12 to hold some
26:13 Merit but you're not just a coder right
26:16 if you're just a coder then you're going
26:17 to be competing against GPT 4 like you
26:21 don't even need to wait for GPT 5 like
26:23 gp4 is all like it's I mean we're
26:27 essentially at the point if you go look
26:29 at some of the [ __ ] that is being done
26:31 with GPT Vision right now where they're
26:34 just popping in an interface and it's
26:36 writing an app like we're not that far
26:38 from you know the future that the future
26:41 that you're potentially
26:43 fearing
26:45 so so I just go all in and teach
26:47 yourself and if you're close to the end
26:49 get your computer science degree and
26:51 then come out as a [ __ ] kickass AI
26:54 literate AI Ops kind of person because
26:57 they're going to be so in demand
26:59 everyone's going to be trying to figure
27:01 out which tools can I use how do I use
27:02 it how do I incorporate it with our data
27:04 how do we maintain privacy how do I
27:06 maintain security holy [ __ ] everything's
27:08 changing so if you can be nimble and and
27:11 curious and learn tools um how do we
27:14 find those on Tik Tok saw your Tik tock
27:19 on videos today but couldn't get that
27:21 link I don't
27:24 know somewhere in the live so I put as
27:27 part of the live maybe it's is it in my
27:36 name check check my
27:39 name
27:41 uh so there's somewhere there's a link
27:43 to a thing called Series so maybe go to
27:45 my name maybe somewhere on the page is a
27:47 thing called series look look at the
27:50 icons on the bottom the icons on the top
27:52 I honestly don't know does anyone in
27:53 Discord do any of the mods know where
27:56 the uh the series link is see Tik Tok
28:00 just created these thing called
28:03 series I don't know a couple of weeks
28:05 ago and I I just decided to try one
28:07 today it's a really janky interface
28:09 right it's like all new technology it's
28:11 really janky um but the the actual
28:14 result of what it created is actually
28:15 pretty cool so I I don't know Mary Mary
28:18 I'm sorry about that it was on the
28:20 bottom left but now we just have
28:22 subscribed
28:23 oh because I guess I've got to add it
28:26 every time I come new so if you to the
28:28 to my pinned videos oh yeah you couldn't
28:31 you couldn't select the link there the
28:34 link for those videos was on the bottom
28:35 left okay I'll do it next time just come
28:38 back tomorrow night I'll make sure I do
28:39 it so I've got to do it every time I go
28:41 live I've got to make sure that I turn
28:43 that
28:44 on all right underwater basket weaving
28:47 is a great option yeah exactly I you
28:50 know I I think physical trades are
28:52 actually going to the the new South Park
28:54 movie where you've got all the knowledge
28:56 workers standing outside Home Depot
28:59 trying to get plumbing
29:04 jobs it's everything's going to be fine
29:06 it's all GNA be good we're good
29:08 everything's good right it's going to be
29:10 good Sam alman's going to have a job
29:12 soon here pretty much in his own company
29:14 or back at open AI we just don't really
29:17 know yet do we everything's going to be
29:18 fine
29:20 right satio wasn't having any of it Sam
29:23 will be back by the end of Thanksgiving
29:24 at the latest that's my friend David
29:26 Armano
29:29 uh I think that was just him
29:32 pontificating but I agree I think I
29:34 think Microsoft lost their [ __ ]
29:37 [ __ ] they're like hey we're not [ __ ]
29:41 around here you no you did
29:48 what we we've committed the entire next
29:53 5year road map of Microsoft to to this
29:57 janky piece of [ __ ] technology and you
29:59 did what without talking to
30:02 us I yeah you know that you know that
30:09 happened Elon Musk the Split Second
30:11 Court opens on
30:18 Monday excorp will be filing a
30:21 thermonuclear lawsuit against all Media
30:23 Matters and all who colluded in this
30:26 fraudulent attack on our company
30:30 huh elon's like they're talking about
30:34 Sam too much you got to talk more about
30:37 me I know my rocket blew up today but
30:41 all right we'll do a
30:42 lawsuit these [ __ ]
30:45 billionaires just got off a long flight
30:48 did I miss
30:53 anything oh man alive people it's
30:58 crazy I would pivot to cyber security
31:01 and try to find a program that is AI
31:03 first yeah
31:05 exactly yeah well AI Ops cyber security
31:10 um all the open source projects I mean
31:13 honest to God if if you're AI literate
31:15 and and are a decent
31:17 engineer um there's going to be AI
31:20 companies to join every Fortune 500
31:22 company going to be trying to figure out
31:24 how to deal with this every single one
31:25 of them and every agency is going to
31:28 have to deal with this every consulting
31:31 company it
31:33 just do not if especially if your school
31:39 and your professors are not deeply
31:41 committed to
31:43 AI if they're if they're skimming over
31:45 it and go like yeah it's
31:51 important all right can you still hear
31:53 me can anyone hear me can you hear
31:56 me can can anyone hear me I like
